| | Low priced essential tools for the novice canner.August 26, 2017 This year is the first year that I decided to do canning as I had planted a small garden of cucumbers and wanted to make my own dill pickles. I purchased these tools as recommended by many of the articles that I read about canning and began canning. By the end of my first canning session, I had used every tool in this set and didn't really feel that I was missing anything that I may have needed, except for a good set of potholders. It is everything I need For canning (probably blackberry jam) and it's so convenient that everything I need is in one set and I don't have to buy everything separately. These pieces happen to be in one of my favorite colors and in the perfect shade even. I can't believe I have everything I need for canning at such a low price. I did not expect the additional items to be so handy and convenient or of such good quality. I use ALL of the tools every time I can. This was a terrific purchase! You will use all of these pieces if you have never done any canning before. Each piece works perfectly with your mason jars. Initially, I wasn't going to buy this set because I had similar pieces at home. What makes this set necessary is how all the pieces perfectly fit your mason jars. I'm glad I made this purchase. |

The magnet on the lid lifter is a little weak, so you must lift the lids slowly out of the water bath or they will fall back in. Four StarsJuly 4, 2017 Does it's job for canning. Does the job.October 21, 2016 All the tools, except for the air bubble remover, are very handy and seem to work fine. The most useful tools are the funnel, the large bottle holder thing (the third from the left in the picture, beside the air bubble remover) and the magnetic stick for the lids. I'm not really sure how the air bubble remover actually removes air bubbles or how it's different from using a butter knife or even a small plastic spatula. Instructions were not provided. Also, I really don't like the idea of using plastic with hot food, even if it is BPA free. For this reason, I gave it to 4 stars. If the funnel was made from stainless steel or even aluminum and the bubble remover was not plastic, I'd give it 5 stars. Good for the moneySeptember 3, 2016 I really like the kit. It is difficult to grasp and keep hold of jars while inserting/removing from canning cooker. The tongs work better but are not recommended to substitute for a jar lifter. Will not use it again. The other instruments are acceptable and useful. Great set except for the jar lifterAugust 31, 2016 Great set except for the jar lifter. Doesn't work well with wide mouth jars. Ended up using something else to remove jars from canner. Disappointing quality.August 5, 2015 Kind of cheaply made. I can't believe that this was originally priced at $42.99. | | I would not recommend buying theseJune 13, 2015 Poorly made. I would not recommend buying these. The rivets are too tight in the tools which limits there usefulness. Tools are cumbersome to use compared to other sets that I have used. |
