Side by Side Comparison of: Maybeline New York vs Rubie's

This is my favorite mascara of all time! I've tried much more expensive mascaras (YSL, Chanel), and this one still is my favorite! I have dark blonde hair, so the brownish-black is the perfect tint. I highly recommend trying this out- and why not? It's only $5 on Amazon! :)

I've used this mascara for years now and they used to have a washable waterproof version that I can't find anywhere! So this will have to do. Makes my eyelashes black, long and beautiful and I never have to reapply. Comes right off with washing.

How come I never knew about this before?? I usually like having my eyelashes out on the edges but not too long in the middle and the inner. this does exactly just that without having to fight with it!!! I think I will buy few spare one just in case they take it out but its making my life so much easier now

I have used Great Lash mascara for years because it is cheap...and good! I fell in love with the shape of this brush, but I can no longer find it in this color in any store in my area. They have the Blackest of Black color, but that is too dark for me. I'm so glad I can order Brownish Black with this brush from Amazon!

My favorite mascara to date. I love the applicator and color and the fact that I only need to apply one coat. My lashes appear longer and thicker. I think the price is great for the product and I'll purchase this again next time.

I've been a dedicated Great Lash user for YEARS now, and this is the best formula/brush combo they have. I've been using this exact mascara ever since it first came out in stores. I hate the look of overly thick, clumpy lashes, and this has been an answer to my prayers! Adds great volume while still looking natural, and (the best part) the brush easily removes any and every little clump you might notice. Super easy to use, and has never irritated my eyes (I am a daily contact wearer with a slight astigmatism in one eye). Love, love, love!

For the price of $7, very very nice. I was expecting a chance it may not match the picture. It has retail sticker on the inside that indicates if it is sold or made by Rubies, as some of the other sellers stated. Fits nicely with my glasses. Very impressed. Thanks!

I don't get the few bad reviews on this mask. It's honestly a really well made mask. The material is great and durable. I know it's not a Licensed mask are what ever. And perhaps a knock off, but for the price you get great value out this mask. You don't have to look perfect when your getting your Revolution on anyways people. This mask is worth it's weight and gold, it's not move stage prop quality but it gets the job done. So purchase this gem and prepare your self for the Million Mask March so we can open the eyes to all the humans on this planet before it's too late.

In my opinion, this is a great looking "V for Vendetta" Mask.This Rubies version is even better looking than a different one that I bought on another product page. It fits my head/face perfectly. This mask will fit an adult with an average size head, and may even fit really well on some children too. For me, it wasn't hard to see out of this mask, and I didn't have any problems breathing out of it either. There's also a sticker on the inside of the mask that will let you know if you got the Official Rubie's- version, which is the one that's supposed to be sold on this product page. I am a self employed consulting engineer, and my firm's clients are usually very conservative. So I bought this goofy looking thing to hang on the wall in my office to remind me how far our modern society has evolved. That aside, the quality is very good, given that it is a cheap plastic clown's mask. I had to make repairs on the rubber strap, but after that it was fine, especially for my display purposes. Can't say how well it would hold up in a hail of rubber bullets and tear gas.

Great for parties, getting out of jury duty, buying a home, or taking down dictators. The mask fits very well and should do a decent job of protecting you from pepper spray and because there is a block of impact resistant foam on the forehead area, it will also help deflect incoming tear gas and flashbang grenades from the riot police at OWS meetings.

Okay so I bought this mask because well as like everyone who probably is buying this mask bought it because they saw the V for Vendetta movie. A good movie by the way (on a side note) I highly recommend people watch it at least once.So I bought this mask so I could hang it up on the wall with other mask's I like. Now even though this is more like a toy (halloween mask) it still is pretty close to the movies mask. Its made out of plastic and its also not very durable you could easily break it if you tried or scratch it if it rubbed on the ground or something but it was made in factory where they produce hundreds of these so what are you expecting.The mask arrived quickly no complaints. There might be a little scruff on it here or there but not really noticeable unless you look really closely. For educational value... have your kids watch the movie and see how real acting works. :POther then that idk what else to say. They work well for what they are. Mask replicas from the movie. Oh and for the price I paid for them it wasn't much. Even though right now im seeing its like 4-5 bucks which is a lot cheaper.

It gave my lashes a really thick coat on the very first pass already, didn't need to do a 2nd coat. I like the tapered tip of the wand, easier to apply to corner lashes.

I am Asian and have very sparse eyelashes. This wand coaxes out the shortest of lashes!. Most brushes are too bulky and I always seem to get mascara on my lids. Not with this! This is my go to mascara because of the wand. I use this wand with other mascara I have.

I try new mascaras all the time and always come back to Maybelline. Everything about it is better for me than other mascaras. It definitely lasts longer as far as what you get in the tube. It seems to go on thicker than the mascaras that try harder with weird shaped brushes, etc. I like this classic Great Lash with no frills. I gave it a four because this doesn't make my lashes look like the models. :)

My go-to mascara. I've tried lots of others and always come back to this. Easy to apply and not clumpy. I only give it four stars because it's not a natural product, which would be my preference.

Love this mascara! It is really better than most others I've tried. I didn't think there would be much difference, but the applicator design makes the brush coating complete so you don't have to push the brush in and out of applicator to get full mascara coverage on the brush. My lashes look so good I don't even have to curl them anymore. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that it does clump a little more than I would like. But otherwise a surprisingly good product. I use it every day and recommend it to my family and friends.

I love mascara and love to try new kinds. I've had several tubes of the "traditional" Great Lash mascara, but I wanted to try this one because I saw it has a new brush.As you can see in the picture, the brush tapers off. I know the idea is that you can use the small end to get the tiny lashes in the corners of your eyes.PROS: The mascara is very dark and thickens each lash, and maybe lengthens them a bit. I can get by with just one coat in the morning if I'm in a rush.CONS: I think the brush ends up being a huge problem. The brush has so many clumps of mascara on it when you pull it out of the tube. I figure that because the entrance of the tube is wide enough for the thickest part of the brush, it's took big for the rest of the brush, so it doesn't "rake" the excess mascara off the middle and end. As a result, I have to do extra work to prevent my eyelashes from clumping together.Overall, I would not buy this product again, because of the problems with the brush / clumping.

This arrived undamaged, which was most important to me. Since it's just a cheaply-priced piece of plastic from China (despite Amazon fulfillment), it's appropriately spray painted with the quality/accuracy you'd expect for the price and country of origin. I have no reason to spend more on anything else, and I'll just tweak it with a sharpie.

Don't expect a thick mask for this price. It is about twice the thickness of those super cheap Halloween masks with a rubber band goes on the back of your head, so it is somewhat rigid. The detail is good. Even comes with the padding to sit on your face comfortably. Bought this for my adult daughter who loves it.

This is just what my husband wanted. He likes the mask. For the price of around $5, we weren't expecting a super high-quality mask, so the fact that it is pretty flimsy was expected. I think it will stand up to an adult using it since it won't get thrown around. The only thing that he doesn't like is that the mouth hole to breathe is very, very small, so breathing and speaking through it is a bit difficult. He is going to have to enlarge the hole which is going to be a tricky job as it is not flat in that area. Overall, a very good mask for the price. Would recommend for someone looking for this type of item for a very low price.

I really like the simplicity yet subtle depth of this mask. It is a well recognized mask and conveys a fun and mysterious image. The inside little pieces of foam, are rather cheap and my baby sister easily made one fall off. Also there are little pieces of plastic on the interior that may irritate your face. Neither of these things are a big deal however. The mask fits well and conforms to the face. Does not feel awkward. I'm a young man, it fit me well, and it fit my 5 year old sister relatively well also.

First and foremost I'm a big fan, but I chose this product because of the significance it's starting to develop.Enough of that the mask itself is well made and seems to be durable plastic. The only real drawback is it had the tab where it hangs from that needs to be cut. I for whatever reason had a difficult time trimming this piece of so that it would be flush with the top of the mask, once I was able to cut it and smooth it out a little it was awesome. I carry it in my car and everybody seems to like it, and many think it's an expensive mask or at least a little more expensive. lol.Ultimately, I would recommend this mask for anyone who is looking for one, to play around with or just keep it as a decoration as I have.Ciao

I ordered this mask to use as a Halloween costume. The mask looks exactly like it does in the picture and how it should. It is fairly thin plastic and was slightly uncomfortable to wear because it moved with your face. This problem was solved by cutting some small pieces of styrofoam and gluing it on the inside of the mask so that the mask itself wasn't touching my face. It game me some room to move my mouth and eyelashes without moving the mask itself. Now I can talk to someone while wearing the mask and not having it move. The same creepy way that V does in the movie. The paint job on the mask is great but it can be scratched easily. If you take care of the mask and do a little "rigging" it can be a great costume!

The classic formula is great, as expected, but the new "heart shaped" brush does not work for my lashes. I found that it was hard to apply to the tiny lashes on the inner corner and bottom lash line. I ended up making more of a mess than I normally would with other mascaras. The bristles were far apart and made my lashes clump together. Otherwise, the formula wore well all day but I would only order again if I had the option for the standard style of brush.

I love the shape of this brush. Gets into the corners well. However for some reason, this formula flakes really bad! I've used Great Lash mascara for going on 30 years now, and never noticed a problem with flaking. I did notice this mascara seemed a good bit "drier" than a normal new tube usually is. I don't know if it's the formula or if it's just old. Think I'll just go back to my regular old "original" Great Lash.

Using this mascara was an adjustment. I forgot how short the wand was when I ordered this. All the "newer" and "fancier" mascaras have crazy wands that are long or curled or think. This one is really short. I dont have any problems with the mascara itself though. Stays on all day and doesn't flake. I miss having a longer brush, but this gets the job done at a fraction of the cost of what I was paying. I'd likely buy this again.

I've been using this on and off since my teens. I love the way it makes my lashes look. But after switching brands, I realize my eye allergies due to contact lenses were actually eye irritations due to THIS MASCARA. Any time I wear it, after a week I can barely keep my contact lenses in through the end of the day, my eyes itch and burn, and eventually they feel scratched even when my lenses are out. I had always assumed I couldn't wear contacts (one time a doctor told me I had horrible allergies that caused bumps on the inside of my lids, so he wouldn't even prescribe me contacts!) Then, I switched mascara brands once to try a different one, and then lo I could wear contacts again. Thought maybe it was seasonal, until two years later I bought this again. Ahhh! My eyes are in so much pain! So sad because it really has a great look.

Very cheap quality. The edges have rough cuts, and the hot-glue left strings everywhere. You can tell it's obviously mass produced. It was thrown together fast, glued up the cheap foam on the inside, roughly cut around the edges/eye-holes, and painted quickly. The paint rubs off quite easy too. Only reason I got this was the picture of it looked very good on the ad, and it had free PRIME 2-day shipping. Now that I know though, would not recommend. Very wide too, looks funny without a hat or hood.

This got delivered in about two and a half weeks, and came undamaged. It was what I would expect from a cheap Chinese mask, but one thing that really got me was the fact that part of the mask had these blots of blue ink. I haven't been able to get them off yet. other than that, this is perfect for all your nefarious anonymous related deeds, just don't chew on it. It probably has lead in it.

These are not the same as the Time Warner versions. You get what you pay for. They are made from the same mold as the thick white masks, but are colored like the official product. They make your head look fat, and they have cheap little foam pieces inside being held on by cheap glue. The mask sits too close to the face, and pushes your eyelashes into your eyes. This problem is fixable by purchasing some soft foam, peeling the small pieces of harder foam out of the mask, and gluing the new thicker pieces inside. Also, sewing the straps will keep them from coming apart. Overall, my customer experience was more than acceptable. I had sent a request to this company and asked to have them shipped to me by Nov 5th, the promptly responded, and the masks arrived early. Also, the masks do protect your face from police attacks. ;-)

This is the officially licensed mask. Fits fine, but may need a bit of reshaping due to thin plastic and storage. First one I got was just a box of plastic shards with Guy Fawkes coloring. One call to Amazon, got another one here overnight so that's pretty awesome.The mask has a thin strip of black elastic that attaches behind the head with a bit of velcro. Inside the face of the mask, there are a few strips of soft white foam to make it a little more comfortable.The mask had plastic hanger at the top of the forehead that required some trimming to make it actually look like it does in the picture.

I figured if this was the real licensed mask it would be of better quality. I was researching looking for the brand that made the thickest plastic version available. This brand came up and up again. Unless they offer two different versions, then I am missing something.The adjustable strap is a joke. I'll probably end up replacing it. The mask came in a box from Amazon with the V for Vendetta movie on DVD. It was just in there loose. No bag, no protection, just a loose plastic mask like what would be hanging in the Halloween department of a retail store. It even came with a molded area where it could be hung on a peg hook. A sticker inside the mask tells you to cut it off with scissors.The mask, like others have mentioned, had a scratched nose. Dirt/dust on it. And it doesn't look exactly like the photo. I think the colors are a little off from what I expected.So packaging was disappointing, condition was disappointing, and the quality was disappointing. However, it is still a Guy Fawkes mask even if it is not a great V for Vendetta mask. So overall I am happy I guess. I'll just have to make some additional modifications to it to get it to work for me.For example, I cannot wear it over glasses (like others said they can), the forehead pad is on there crooked and needs to be replaced, the eyes need blacking out with additional material, etc.If you are looking for one on the cheap, this will probably do for you. But if you were looking for a higher quality version... I would keep searching.

Not a big fan. The brush is too small and since the mascara is thick, it just becomes a gloopy mess. I love Maybelline mascara but I wouldnt buy this wand again.

This is cheap mascara. It flaked off during the day and would get into my eye so I was always rubbing my eyes, which would just cause more to flake off. good in a pinch it you need something cheap, but not something I would buy again.

I have used Maybelline Great Lash in the past and saw the price and decided to try it again. I HATE the brush. It is not like what is pictured. The brush is small and terribly angled. One end of the brush is very small while the opposite end is big making a sharp angle. It is hard to apply. You have to decide which end you want to use and make a thousand little strokes with that end to get coverage. I will not be purchasing again because of the brush. Also, I have noticed on more than one occasion after I have been wearing this for a while it makes my eyes water. I work 12.5 hour shifts and by the end of my shift I couldn't wait to take it off. This may just be me, but I had to stop using this after only two weeks.

I am an AVID makeup user and I don't usually get makeup from drugstores, but I have seen this get so many great reviews for many many years so I just had to try it out. 1 Star for the brush shape 1 star for the price.Pros:•The price•I like the shape of the brush (not the quality)Cons:• When I try to wash this off my face, it never wants to come off completely. I always end up having to scrub my eyelashes which causes them to sometimes fall out.•This is not a thick mascara so if you like a bold look, I would look elsewhere.•This does not make your eyelashes really long and luscious, it feels heavy and I don't see any volume.Overall, I wouldn't buy this again, I'd rather spend $10 more for a higher end mascara. I did like the shape of the brush because it tapers and makes it easier to apply to short bottom lashes. I would recommend Two Face Lash Injection if you have short eyelashes like me (asian eye lashes). The truth is, I haven't been able to find any drug store mascara that can compete with Two Face, Clinique or any other high end mascara that I have tried. I would recommend this product to someone who doesn't have short eyelashes and doesn't necessarily need to add volume or thickness to their lashes.

What the picture doesn't show is a cheap paint job and the hook for a retail store is actually molded into it. Nothing a razor couldn't fix, but a nuisance.

Had to cut around the eyes. It pokes your face. Also had to put foam around the inside to keep space between my face and the mask, since without it, it's painful to wear.

Bought this mask and got expedited shipping. It arrived perfectly on time. The box was empty other than the mask and some air pocket shipping materials. However, once I opened the box it was a huge disappointment. The mask was notably bent, not folded as some have mentioned, but the opposite was true. It was bent very very wide, almost like it had been smushed flat and heated so it was permanently stuck in that shape. In addition, the colors were off AND poorly painted. The colors were just not very accurate and looked as if they had been hastily hand airbrushed. The padding inside the mask was also cheap, it looked as if someone had taken a packing peanut, broken it in two and then glued the halves to the forehead and chin sections. The strap for wear was cheap as well. It was simply an elastic band attached at hole punch looking holes. The one upside was that it was a nice thick grade of plastic. It was not a high quality plastic, or anything close to resin, but at least it was thick and seemingly crush-resistant.Overall, a cheap price for a cheap product. I've never encountered the infamous knock-offs that exist online...Until this purchase.

It came earlier than expected, that was the only nice thing. The mask looks nothing like its photo, The paint is all lop-sided and off to the point it resembles guy fawkes. The masks molding spots poke put like a sore thumb showing the low quality of this product.Honestly, I'm very disappointed. The materials the mask is made from is sturdy, but the paint work is just bad.I wouldn't recommend getting this if you are a cosplayer or need nice detail.

Horrible mask. Not expecting much because it was so cheap, but so must worse the expected. The color was flaking off. One of the nose holes were unpuctured and I had to do it with a knife. The eyeliner was not drawn I had to do that myself. Also too big for me. But the quality was okay for the price.

Never got a shipping update. or tracking number.It randomly shows up in my mailbox stamped with all sorts Asian writingIt is translucent yellow not "skin" color as they show in the picture.I was so Disappointed in this mask I haven't taken it out of the plastic wrap its in.

Didn't like this mascara. It doesn't make my lashes look with more volume. It was a big disappointment because of all the great reviews I had read before buying this product.

This product has mostly flaked off by the end of the work day. The flakes stick to my eyelids and the area below the eye. They look terrible and cannot be easily removed with remover and a swab, tissue or pad. I have to scrub off this mess, taking other makeup off in the process. Besides, why would I want to be fussing with messy makeup in the ladies room at work?

Not a fan of this. Years ago I was a Great Lash devotee, so I figured this (very inexpensive) mascara was worth a shot. I just tried out my first subscription and I will not be using it again. The brush is a great concept, but no matter how I tried to apply this, it clumped my lashes together like no other mascara. After three attempts (cleaning my lashes and brushing them apart in between each attempt), I still could not get this stuff on without ending up with my lashes clumped together in three messy bunches. I'm pretty disappointed, since I was really in need of a fresh tube of mascara, but I would rather go without for a day or two until I can pick up a different brand. Glad I only spent a few dollars on it. It's ironic too, because this is supposedly "Lots of Lashes" and it made me look like I only had a few that were plastered together...

The brush is terrible. It clumps worse than any other mascara brush I've ever used, no matter how little or how much I use.

This is a horrible mascara. The plastic applicator brush just leaves a big clumpy mess. The tip has very short spikes and the back has long spikes that deliver globs of mascara. Nothing like the normal wire brush Maybelline Great Lash applicator.

I ordered 3 of these masks and all 3 of them look TERRIBLE. They all look like they were hand painted by a child - and they all look different!! These masks are an embarrassment. I've purchased V masks from other sources in the past and they've looked fine. I'm not sure if Amazon lumps all of these reviews together or if this vendor gets some that look OK and others that look like crap. These masks are a terrible joke and you should stay away from them!

Mask came broken. the facial features that were painted on the mask weren't even on the proper location and it seemed as they literal just slapped it on. I was way to upset to even ship it back and have to deal with it. Who puts a plastic mask in with loose 500 page books anyway?!

Arrived quick, and looked good at first glance. Flimsy, but it's what I expected as far as sturdiness goes for the price. However, the blush on the cheeks is VERY uneven, and the mask is super wide, so I would have to maneuver a way to get it shaped better. Ended up buying a more expensive one that's way better quality.

Like some others have recently wrote, I also did not receive a mask that looks like the one for sale. The one I received is horribly made, dried glue everywhere, and way too much makeup. Waste of money. You can even see the glob of glue on his chin and scuff in his eyebrow.

Words cannot describe how utterly terrible this mask is.So here I go.The mask took weeks to arrive. Ironically, it arrived today which happens to be the 5th of November.However, the mask is a an attempt to remake V's autistic brother, Dee Dee Dee.It is almost a foot wide, cut unevenly, and spray paired by a three year old. Spray paint is scattered all over the mask, it is an ugly color mixed between butterscotch and a sexual excrement.Thank goodness I bought a flimsy 8 dollar mask at my Halloween shop before this junk of thick ugly plastic arrived.I'm really not even mad, it's really pretty hilarious!Don't buy this mask, it's a joke.Buy the movie sanctioned one or go to your local Halloween or costume store. Four of the five masks ordered were as presented in product description and photo. The fifth was of much lower quality and frankly looks like crap. Not a good way to please a customer.
