Five Star Reviews: | 64% Great Tool May 8, 2017 I like the fact that you can actually see where the nail is going be inserted in the lumber. I think it will become my favorite Nailer. I love this gun January 12, 2017 We purchased this during a kitchen remodel and used it also on other projects and have had no problems. It saves a lot of time. Trench warfare April 13, 2016 Trimmed 350 guest room destination & conference hotel with boss's gun. Beat the crap out of it flawlessly firing unknown multiple THOUSANDS of 1-1/4" and 2" bullets and it blazed on like a trusty AK-47. Boss-man wouldn't sell me it after we finished so I bought a new one. I'm a pro carpenter and can buy any gun I want. Semper fidelis. Carry on.... Easy to use, nice clean (small) hole for trim December 28, 2015 This is my very first experience with a brad nailer. Previously, I fought with the little finishing nails, countersinking each one, and so on. Due to the size of my project, I decided it was time to invest in a quality brad nailer. This one seemed to do the trick! I already had a cheap little air compressor that I got to fill up car tires, and such. It had a small tank and could sustain 100+ PSI, so was within the minimum requirements for this nailer. This nailer worked quite well, my only complaint is that there is no way to check on your brad level without opening the feeding mechanism. Not a big deal, although when empty it continued to lightly indenting the trim so I thought it was working. It would take about 3-5 taps, before I realized the trim was not nailed, so I would then re-fill it. I did notice that the very last nail seemed to stick out (not be counter sunk). Once I realized this, the issue wasn't quite so much of a bother. I don't know if this was coincidence or not, as I was about done with my project before I noticed this pattern. Best 18 gauge nailer on the market November 21, 2015 I own a production finish carpentry company in California. We always look for the most reliable and smooth functioning tools regardless of cost. After having already purchased a dozen or so have these guns, I decided to save some money and purchase the reconditioned units. I bought two and once they were delivered I immediately put one in my truck. I got to the job site after a 90 minute drive and it failed to function properly. The lesson here is that you should inspect and test them before you put them into service. I emailed Amazon about it and they sent me a replacement overnight. The two that I now have work exactly as the others that I bought. The smart point tip is the best innovation that the pneumatic nail gun market has ever seen. The Best 18 Gauge Nailer I've ever used! May 23, 2015 This is a great 18 gauge finish nailer. I purchased this after not being very satisfied with my Senco 18 gauge FinishPro. This gun is superior for a number of reasons. I will list a few:- Smart point makes it a lot easier to know exactly where the nail is going to hit.- The nails have set all the way in every shot. The Senco was leaving them proud even with the depth set as deep as it would go.- The nail hole is one of the smallest I have seen from any 18 gauge gun I have seen. It seems like it might have a smaller tip on the driver. The Senco would leave a mark from the driver as if it was skipping past the nail at the end.- The pencil sharpener in the handle actually came in handy and for an added bonus, if you've never used a pencil sharpener in your life, it explains how to use one in the manual. I purchased the factory reconditioned model because it carries the same warranty as a new gun and was $30 cheaper. Mine showed up looking Brand New and even had the 3 No-mar tips. I will recommend this gun to anyone looking for an 18 gauge finish gun. | 82% Well built. Great for small projects and torturing fugitives. September 12, 2017 Great for torturing people. The 1 inch brads go right into hands and REALLY hurt but cause no lasting or life-threatening injuries. Get people to tell you EXACTLY what you need to know. Or build stuff like furniture, picture frames, small projects... whatever floats your boat. Hey, build a small boat. Easy to use, doesn't jam. July 14, 2017 We bought this to finish up some trim projects around the house. I had borrowed a larger named, larger gauged version from a friend for some projects and I liked this one much better! The other one jammed every 10 or so nails. I haven't had this one jam once. It's been perfect for what I needed. I expect a lot more projects in the future with this thing! I was satisfied with it and thought I would try the nailer November 18, 2016 I was looking for a reasonably priced 18 gauge brad nailer . I had owned a WEN grinder, polisher years ago , so the WEN name wasn't new to me. I was satisfied with it and thought I would try the nailer. I'm glad I did. It works flawlessly. One caution. There is an adjustment wheel positioned between the blue brad driver assembly and the brad nail tray. This controls the depth the brad driver pushes the brad into the wood. Try driving a few into a scrap piece of trim, if you are working with trim, and don't want to leave the driver imprint on the wood. Once I got the adjustment right for the wood I was working with, it does a beautiful job of driving the brad and not marking the wood the best for the price August 31, 2016 still have to get a stuck nail or misfire. driven more than 500 nails. the best for the price. shame that i can't find a 23 gauge pin nailer update: absolutely happy with this. no misfires, shot blanks regularly though :) would be better if the nail window went al the way to the front. so you can see if there are still nails in de gun. searched for a WEN 23 gauge pin nailer, could not find one. what a shame Great value. Very pleased. February 15, 2016 My first brad nailer and I love it. Given the low low cost of this I was a little skeptical, but after using it on a project I am pleased. I made three drawers for a garage cabinet. The drawers are light duty so I used butt joints and glue. Brads were used to secure the pieces for the glue up. It's not a fine woodworking piece but it will do the job and I couldn't be happier. Wish I would have bought one of these years ago but before finding this I thought that meant dropping 100 dollars or more. Very easy to use. Simple to load and very light. There are raised ridges in the magazine that help you add the brads in the correct location. The depth setting is easy to use and allows for fine tuning. Works great with Bostitch brads sold at all the big box stores so you'll never run out of brads. I have a 30 gallon compressor so it's tough to say more than the unit never cycled on. I would guess that even a small pancake compressor wouldn't run much with this nailer. This is one of those deals that seems too good to be true. Maybe this won't last forever, but I could buy 3 or 4 of these for the price of one of the units at a big box store. |
Four Star Reviews: | 14% Just like new March 30, 2016 Works just like new the only downside is that there was no airhose nipple that came with it but really not a big deal besides that I can't see any difference between this one and a new one Great Brad Nailer January 17, 2016 This is my first brad nailer. I purchased this to nail the backs of Ikea kitchen cabinets in place. When I purchased it, the last available had been purchased earlier in the day. But the seller shipped a unit the next day.The nailer had some signs of use. The air fitting was missing, but the two extra tips were present. Interestingly, the belt clip is not as pictured. The clip included looks like that from a Dewalt (pencil sharpener in a different location). The nailer performs perfectly. There is plenty of power. I have the depth control turned all the way down to drive 1" brads into oak trim at 100psi. I do think I know why it was factory reconditioned. And the factory reconditioning failed to catch the issue - for this reason, I give four stars. The magazine will not accept a full strip of brads. I have to remove about 3/8" from the strip to get the cover to slide fully closed and latch. It appears that one of the springs is damaged. So far, after a days worth of use, I have driven hundreds of brads without an issue. The brads I am using are old and tarnished (not rusty). For my use around home, doing hobby woodworking and making repairs around home, the brad nailer is great. I would certainly purchase again. It may be worth it to pay full price for a new nailer; which would be a personal decision for others. | 11% Wen 6130 combo August 5, 2017 This Has been great for nailing brads. The reason why I did not give it a 5-star is it leaves a mark on your wood. I was able to get around with a piece of plastic and duck tap. No marks now. Works very well. Quality piece. July 9, 2017 Works well. Seems t be a quality project. Used it to build outside vegetable planters from pallets. Made the job of construction go a lot faster. Good for the price. June 27, 2017 It works and the price can't be beat. I did end up buying a new Bostick compressor that came with three different bran nailers. The difference in quality is obvious but if you are on a budget or you only need it for an occasional job, I do recommend this for the price. Overall, happy with quality for price February 26, 2017 This gun works well for trim jobs but not hardwood. The gun is not the right gage to go through hardwood. I was able to use it for certain sections and pound the nails in the rest of the way with a nail set but would not recommend it. Gun occasionally jams or fires twice but I think that was due to using it with hardwood. I found that when using it a lot I needed to keep it well oiled so that it did not misfire. Overall, happy with the quality for the price. Does not come with a case. Great buy for the price May 2, 2016 Great buy for the price. I've used this on different moldings and it works well. I don't have much experience with other brad nailers, but this seems like a good value. The procedure for loading/unloading the nails was a little confusing at first but other than that it works well. |
Three Star Reviews: | 5% Tool jams more frequently than I expected. Apparently this ... October 13, 2016 Tool jams more frequently than I expected. Apparently this is a problem with some of these. Would have expected factory to fix. I must admit it is a refurbished model but this is the first time I have ever received a refurbished tool that looks like it has March 17, 2016 It works, I must admit it is a refurbished model but this is the first time I have ever received a refurbished tool that looks like it has been used, even has the former owner's initials burned into the housing. The tip (with the cushion) that sits on the wood has about a 1/8 inch play side to side. Like I said it works. | 3% Ok Product for the price September 13, 2017 I purchased the product almost a year ago and have had some good use out of it. Overall it is a ok product. The biggest issue is that it will not always engage and eject a nail. More times then not it will shoot two nails at one time. Anything but 2 inches June 26, 2017 OK first things first, it doesn't take 2inch nails that well. I use porter cable nails and anything under 2 works fine, When i try 2inch nails i get a lot of misfires and they get stuck in the slide. It will just shoot like a gun July 21, 2016 Beware that this nail gun seems to have a safety issue. It will shoot nails by just pulling trigger without the end being pressed against a firm surface. No contact is needed. It will just shoot like a gun. Almost shot a 2 inch brad through my leg twice. Works ok. Have had some issues with it. October 7, 2015 First one sprung a leak after 3 nails. Second one works, but it seems to fire two nails often. One pull of the trigger will sometimes fire two nails. Perhaps that's normal for brad nailers, but my cheap Harbor Frieght 15 gauge never fires 2. Overall, It's a very good price and I would probably buy again unless I run into more problems. Seemed solid, however leaked oil. February 10, 2014 Seems to be well enough made, however mine spit oil when I used it. It seems to be hit or miss looking at the reviews. Returning the nailer was quick and easy, however I went ahead and got another type locally. |
Two Star Reviews: | 3% | 2% What the hell.... July 5, 2017 Works awesome! Update: Only 2 stars now. The part you pull out to load nails keeps flying open every time I pull the trigger! Would Not Fire May 9, 2015 I've heard of WEN tools and they have a decent reputation. Everything was great about this product except after I oiled it and hooked it up to the air compressor, it would not fire. The amazon refund process is very nice, but I don't think I'll stray from my DeWalt tools again. Disappointed. November 3, 2014 I'm disappointed after reading the glowing reviews. I installed trim this weekend, and about 50% of the time, the brad remained 1/4 to 2 inches outside of the wood. About 15% of the time, two nails were fired: one went in, and the other stuck out. Pressure was always in the 80 to 90 range, well within the 60 to 100 recommended. I played with the depth guage, and nothing worked. Different pressure on the trigger didn't matter either. It's caused me problems with the trim, and a lot of additional corrective work. ... moldings) The gun it self is made and feels good. The performance is some what mix results July 23, 2014 I have used this gun for about 1 month as of today in a professional way(2 to 3 day a week on trim moldings) The gun it self is made and feels good . The performance is some what mix results. Having used it with 1 1/2 and 2 inches nails it shoot fine except every ten nails more or less and the next one is left not sink in with the head sticking out, also it double shoots for no reason(not to may times but it does). For a home owner used this may be alright but for a trade person it is more inconvenience the it is worth it. I have and own other similar guns and have used them side by side and my others guns don't do this. I for myself would not buy it again. It stopped working after about a month August 15, 2013 It worked well initially but after about a month it stopped working but I was lucky enough that was able to return it |
One Star Reviews: | 14% One Star June 19, 2017 Jambed after one day of use. Then continued to jamb on each shot. I returned for refund. More headache than it is worth December 27, 2016 If you are planning to use this gun everyday you will be frustrated. This is the worst brad nailer i have ever owned. Out of one clip of nails at least ten nails do not sink every clip. With various lengths left out up to quarter inch sometimes a little more. This problem has ruined more than one piece that im working on. Do not waste your time with this gun. More headache than it is worth. First one I received did not work. Second one ... December 10, 2016 First one I received did not work. Second one I received did not work. Third one did. Not worth the hassle. Jamming me up November 7, 2015 I am a professional finish carpenter in Beverly hills, ca. This gun jams every 10-20 shots. I have tried all settings and styles of use. I was working with hard woods and composites. Jams and miss fires. I had to clear this gun at least a dozen times in one 8 hour day. It is a great looking gun and feels balanced in your hand. But it's jamming me up at work. Not a new gun,the plug lost. September 7, 2015 Not a new gas gun! there is a "R" carved by a knife on the body of the gun,and the male plug of the gas gun (in the picture) lost, unfortunately, the "Bostitch BTFP72333 Industrial 1/4-Inch Series Swivel Plug with 1/4-Inch NPT Male Thread " I bought from amazon ,gas leaking from the part ,still unwork. So I had to stop my work. | 2% The gauge left is huge. November 20, 2016 Leaves a sizable gauge in wood, much too large for detail wood and trim work. Constantly misfiring too. Junk. Wish I had returned it. Wen 18g finish nailer May 4, 2014 I'm pro trimmer and this gun is not worth it ! Broke on next day I'm sending this guy back ! It is a Junk !!! March 28, 2014 I have bougnt two Band nailers. It is a junk. it only worked 2 weeks and both of them died !!!! Fires One Nail and Then Just Air March 15, 2014 Bought this nailer based on the 4+ star rating on Amazon and thought it would be perfect. It shoots the first brad flawlessly and then just air until I manually advance the rest of the nails forward. Having to manually advance the nails each time is ridiculously time consuming but it would be spectacular if I you needed it to fire one nail. |
