Four Star Reviews: | 11% Good system for the price, great customer service. June 3, 2016 This is a good system and it certainly does not take 8 hours to set up and configure. I had all my cameras running in about an hour and a half. The documentation isn't great, but the product works very well. Download the IPCSearch utility from ZModo to make the setup easier. Note that the DVR is NOT wireless, it will need a wired connection. The video quality is excellent.I did have one camera die on me, and wrote the seller on a Saturday night. I had an RMA number the next morning, and the camera was turned around in less than a week.Many issues can be resolved by moving your router away from other equipment, wireless routers are prone to interference, especially to things like external hard drives. The cameras do "lock up" from time to time and need to be unplugged and plugged back in to get them working, but they are usually pretty dependable. I live in Florida and I attribute this problem to the frequent power surges and faults. | 27% Glad I bought it... Even the cameras are not the best, works fine in short distances while the light is good enough, I was impressed during the night when all the cameras and IR working, i was able to look and surf my office from my cellphone whit really good clarity (B&W).The software for the Iphone is nice but i think i have to calibrate the sensibility or some like that, because it sends pictures and alarms from time to time apparently when some shadow or light from the street is captured in the camera.So far the product is outperformed my expectations.Just to mention, i have installed high end systems for many years from Sony, Samsung, Mitsubishi, Idvr and some other " Generic" brands.I will post some captures during the week just to follow up. great, although there is some issue with a camera ... October 27, 2015 great, although there is some issue with a camera and a cable (if the cable is moved in any way, the cam won't appear) but I think is an error from the guys I hired to install it. I use the Zsight app, its the only downside of this. |
Three Star Reviews: | 17% Product page is somewhat inaccurate, but it gets the job done March 23, 2016 One thing to mention about this set: You MUST have a second wireless router dedicated to managing the traffic from these cameras. Otherwise, you will completely bog down your 2.4GHz network and slow down the rest of the devices. That said...This product is definitely worth the money. Setup was a bit cumbersome to figure out, but hey! What else do you expect from a clearly budget set of Chinese hardware? The NVR has a decent amount of configuration options, and everything worked out mostly painlessly.The software side of things could use some work though. Perusing through past recordings can be a bit cumbersome; the timeslider just doesn't work the way you expect it to. Additionally, the product page states that these components are ONVIF compatible, but they are not. I even confirmed with phone support that ONVIF support was dropped for the newer models. (ONVIF is a universal protocol that many IP cameras use, to allow you to use different 3rd party software to monitor the cameras if you choose. [...]) That was a bit disappointing, given that their mobile app isn't available for Windows Phone, which is what I use. Luckily, they provide a website you can login to to monitor your cameras from a desktop.I would not recommend this set to anyone who isn't tech-savvy. You will likely have some headaches setting it up. But once its going, it seems to work well! ok system December 17, 2015 Finicky system. If your intranet system goes down but not power. You have to reboot all the cameras. I have to check on this weekly and reboot a camera here and there.other than that works pretty good. Infra red lights are bright. Better set up instructions for ENTIRE system please! July 28, 2015 A little difficult to set up the system. The instructions are not exactly in depth with setting up the system.. the cameras are great with a good clear pictures and easily accessed with the app from the owner's phone. Also, I had problems with getting the mobile push alerts working as well. I returned this system and marked it defective since email alerts are being advertised as an option. Read some of the activity on the Zmodo support site before you purchase this brand... There are better December 18, 2015 Works great except the HDMI output is not a output its a input :( No user manual, and the web site that the user's manual is on is not trusted by Adobe, go figure. You get what you pay for. |
One Star Reviews: | 28% very poor tech support August 12, 2016 Very unreliable, very poor tech support, poor quality. Less then six months old and two power sources failed, customer service makes you jump through hoops for $5.00 replacement. System goes down almost daily. In less then six months I have had to completely "reset" system and reload all cameras at least four times. Notification/motion alarms work randomly and video feed is unreliable. DVR playback is difficult to manage and use. Not user friendly.Buyer beware. Spend a few extra dollars and buy a different manufacturer and avoid frustration and poor performance. Bad product bad customer service January 26, 2016 It is honestly the worst electronic system I have ever purchased ,,customer service phone number is bogus at nighttime told you they're closed now please call from 8 to 8 and then the following day the phone number doesn't even ring ,,and the system itself it does not even function properly and I was not able to talk to a person for 3 weeks trying over and over I do not recommend stay away from this company DON'T BUY!!!!! October 16, 2015 UPDATE: 10/27/2015-I've had it with this system. I FINALLY got it to work for 3 days with no issues (after being on the phone with a rude and impatient associate)... I go out of town on business, and 5 of the 7 cameras I hooked up go down on the app. Completely defeats the purpose. I can't trust this system to work. It's not worth my money, safety of my home, or piece of mind. I'm shipping back immediately.--------The product is an absolute pain in the neck to set up. The box doesn't come with proper instructions. I had to call customer service no less than 3 times before I actually got the system installed and working properly.It took me about 8 hours to get the system unpacked, the cameras scanned and set up (over the phone), and installed where I want them. Once I got the hang of it, it was pretty quick and easy to do, but still time consuming none the less. Once I set it up I was able to view my cameras on all my mobile devices (laptop, phone, ipad) using the Zsight app. The major disconnect with the app is if you want to refresh a camera, or a setting changes, you have to completely force quit the app to get it to recognize the changes, otherwise it gives you a network error. Hopefully an update to the app in the near future will remedy this problem.After about a week of viewing my cameras on the app, I decided to check the hard drive (I was out of town for a few days). This is when I noticed that it HAD NOT BEEN RECORDING. After viewing the DVR settings, I realized that the disk needed to be formatted (No instructions on this, and the rep over the phone failed to mention this)... I formatted, and set it up. Once I did, I noticed the cameras began recording to the drive. GREAT!!! I'm done... so I thought.... about 10 minutes later it completely crashed my wireless network for 3 days. I lost accessibility to the internet, and while messing with the settings, I somehow lost access to my apple tv, wireless printer, and cameras (not that I had the internet to use these features) .... this lead to about 4 solid hours on the phone with Cox, Apple Care, and once more Zmodo customer care (2 seperate times). Thankfully, the guy that I had on the phone at Zmodo was EXTREMELY patient and walked me through getting the cameras back online. The downside.... I had to dismount all 8 cameras and hardline them into the router again and configure them once more. This took me another 3 hours.Granted, the loss of internet was partially my fault (I switched the bridge setting off), I still can't help be frustrated with this system for knocking me off initially which forced me to desperately try to get back online by flipping switches and googling answers. UGHHH.I give the VISUAL quality of the cameras are about a 6 out of 10. In perfect lighting, the quality seems to be good, but diminishes quite a bit at night- especially at distances farther than 10 feet or so, but that is to be expected.I give the HARDWARE quality of the cameras 10 out of 10. The frame is made out of metal which gives it some strength and durability. I actually dropped one off my roof while installing it, and it works fine.I purchased the 2TB drive so I can continually record. The "smart recording" feature is worthless. It's motion activated and sends you an image right when the motion is detected. 8 out of 10 times, the camera sent me a picture of a half open door. It snaps the picture way too early to catch anyone's face.If I wasn't already so dang invested in this stupid thing I would have shipped it back the second it knocked me off my network. Patience won that battle. Now that it's set up I'm anxious to see how this thing really performs. If anything drastic happens one way or another, I'll update this post.Good luck to anyone that purchases this system. Now, if you'll pardon me..
