| | Excellent cordJuly 29, 2017 I have gone through many optical cords in my time using sound systems and they always broke the same way: the cord would always stop receiving because of the wires being stresses and broken at the device it was connected to. This cord seems incredibly high quality. I have had it for perhaps a year now and it is still in excellent shape. I even purchased one for a friend who is a beginner in surround sound setups. Highly recommended and extreme value for the price! Great cable for the price!May 30, 2017 This cable worked well and solved a problem we had with connection using a different brand. I use other BlueRigger cables in our computer and audio systems and have been pleased with them all, and now pleased with this one as well. Had connection problems using an different brand older cable, sound dropping in-and-out, this cable solved the connection problem. Good Product + Customer Service!July 13, 2015 I'm going to give this product a 5 star review based on 2 things, the actual product and the company itself (BlueRigger). The first order I placed for this product arrived on time, but unfortunately came defective. I tried the cable/cord in multiple different scenarios only to have the same result a patchy in and out sound. I contacted BlueRigger directly and they were so very police and understanding of my issue. They sent me a replacement cable and the second order placed arrived 2 days later. This time the optical audio cable worked and the quality of sound produced from my soundbar accompanied with this product is absolutely amazing.I ran into a slight issue with the second cable one day it wasn't working properly (kind of like the first order) but the problem went away shortly after and hasn't returned since. BlueRigger has stayed in contact with me throughout this entire transaction and I would really like to give them praise for not only a good product but GREAT customer service! I am willing to buy from them again. Quality CableMarch 17, 2014 I purchased this cable to connect my Samsung LED TV to my home theater receiver. I had never used an optical cable before and was previously just using RCA cables to carry the signal. However, the signal was slightly over driven and a bit distorted, plus there are only two channels. With this cable in place, I get Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound in perfect clarity. It is so much more enjoyable to listen to when watching my favorite broadcast television programs. No manufacturing defects or quality concerns, great price. Good price - works wellOctober 8, 2012 This wasn't the cheapest cable offered, but was close to it. The cheapest ones seem to have connection problems in the long run. I needed this cable to hook up a sound bar and saw the price on amazon ($5) but decided that I wanted it right away so I ran to Radio Shack and they had it for $35....no way! Then I checked at Best Buy and it was the same....Yikes. So I decided that I could wait 2 days to get it from amazon without getting hammered by an overpriced retail store. Nice cable, only downside is the connector housing (the ...June 27, 2016 Nice cable, only downside is the connector housing (the black and blue part in the item photo) is kind of big, and if you have a narrow area to plug it into your component, it tends to make it a tough fit. The way the optical port on my Vizio TV is situated, the housing actually rubs against the panel and prevents the cable from being able to be plugged all the way in. It still works, thankfully, but whenever its time to redo some cabling, I plan on filing it down to improve the fit. Otherwise they are perfect once connectedApril 12, 2016 The plastic sheathing around the ends of the cables are too thick when it comes to plugging in. It was too thick to plug into the back of my Vizio 70" TV and also too thick to plug into the back of my Sound Bar. Also was too thick for my Panasonic Plasma TV and it's Sound Bar as well. These cables can only fit into the ports one way so I remedied it by using a Stanley utility knife to shave off some of the plastic on two sides and now they fit. I have discovered that other brands the plastic is molded thinner and no need for shaving. Otherwise they are perfect once connected. If the digital data makes it to the far end, the audio quality cannot practically be degraded; the music makes it through either whole or not at all. So there's really no such thing as good/better/best optical cable. The least expensive cable that works is best.This cable is an inexpensive, good quality option. Works But a Little Difficult to InstallJanuary 1, 2013 The cables (I purchased two) appear to be working as expected, but I was concerned during the installation that I might be damaging my audio equipment. I made this purchase because the pack in cable for my new LG sound equipment was too short to position the box where needed. The connector ends slid into the equipment sockets without much effort, but did not catch easily compared with the original cable. The small plastic tabs on the side of the BlueRigger plug casing are what needs to catch to hold the cable in place, and it is not clear how much force is required. There is also a slight audio delay when switching television channels, but everything appears to be in sync once the sound arrives. Overall I am satisfied with the product. | | |

For the price, cannot complain too much, but time will tell whether the connection will hold up. Cable Wiggles in SlotDecember 10, 2013 The cable works but I am disappointed with its fit. I plugged it in to my Sony 42" and the optical link on my ZVOX 555. In both devices the cable did click in solidly, but the cable could be jiggled from side to side. This concerns me as to whether I will have a problem in the future. Previously, my experience has been with the Amazon Basic Toslink cable which also snaps in perfectly, but does not wiggle from side to side. . Decent cableSeptember 21, 2013 I have had issues with these cables seating correctly into the toslink port on devices. Most of the time they work just fine, so I continue to buy them.But every once and a while I have a connection problem. I can jiggle it ever so to gain or lose connection. Swapping it out with a much more expensive cable of another brand took all of the play out of the connection and resolved the issue. Worked well, ok item for the price.September 16, 2013 Don't fall into the trap of purchasing overly expensive audio / video cables and accessories. This cable has a decent jacketing, and appears it will stand up fine to everyday life. Worked great on first install.Review Edit: This cable is still installed and is working, however when I had to do some reconfiguration behind my TV, I noticed that the cable does not snap into the tv very well. At this stage it is really quite loose, although it does stay in place. TOSLINK connectors can be finicky and it's not necessarily fair to blame the cable as the connections for different units tend to vary in size. I recently purchased another brand on amazon for a different setup and those cables have a much more robust connecting plug and snap into place much better. I've lowered my review rating for this reason as I believe there are other better / cheap options. Decent cable, plug is a bit looseAugust 1, 2012 All in all this is not a bad cable... quality feels alright at the connection points, good flexibility (unlike some cheaper cables that feel to stiff and don't feed well), and the length is great for the price. My only complaint is that the plugs on both ends seem to be ever so slightly smaller than the female ports on my equipment and tend to fall out fairly easily if touched at all after the equipment is put into place (or if you're not very careful sliding the equipment back after pulling it out to connect the cable). Once you've got it connected and as long as you don't touch it these are great. | | |

I had no problems plugging the other cables into my TV (Samsung 55" 6950 Smart UHD) or receiver (Denon AVR S900W), but the Blue Rigger was incredibly difficult to plug in the both devices and even harder to get out. I was legitimately scared I was going to damage my devices with how hard I had to pull. I thought maybe there was a clip or something similar to an RJ-45 (Ethernet) connector, which would be weird, but no. They were just terribly fitting connectors.Once they're plugged in, they seem to work fine, but it's not worth saving a couple bucks on these if you're going to damage your electronics just to use it.
