| LOVE this sound barAugust 19, 2016 LOVE this sound bar!! Super easy to use once it's set up and the projection is excellent! You can really get bang for your buck and great sound that should be more than plenty! I bought it for my 70 inch flat screen in my living room and I'm more than pleased. Big bonus: if you haven't tried Vizio before, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Their products are quality and I can't rave enough about their PHENOMENAL customer service!!! I loved the size upgrade, but the sound of the new TV was terrible. Music was muddy. Vocals were indistinct. In scenes crowded with background noise and music, it was nearly impossible to hear dialog because everything washed together. I finally decided I could not take it anymore and started searching for sound bars. I needed something affordable that delivered good sound for the money, and this product has fit the bill. Music and sound effects are crisp, vocals are distinct, and there is just enough bass for a bedroom. It is the perfect sound bar for the space. If you are looking for a product upgrade your main living room TV, you might want something higher end with a dedicated subwoofer, but for bedroom applications, you can't go wrong with this. Great Sound and qualitySeptember 4, 2015 The Vizio 38" 2.0 sound bar was very easy to set up and sounds great. Some have reported that their Cable or Satellite remotes don't work with this sound bar. My Xfinity X1 remote has a setup for audio device and it recognized the sound bar and turns on and off with the remote as well as controls the sound volume. To do this just press the setup button on the X1 remote until the red light turn green then enter the code on the screen. From there follow the instructions for TV and then the system will ask if you want the remote to control your audio device. Follow the onscreen instructions and it should work. The sound is very good for under $100. It is very clear and not too much bass. In fact I have the bass set for less than 50%. When I bought my 55" Vizio M series UHD TV I ordered the sound bar at the same time. After hearing the sound on my Vizio TV I was going to cancel the Amazon order for the sound bar because the sound was much better than I expected from the TV but decided to try the sound bar anyway. It sounds even better so I decided to keep it. The fact that my Xfinity X1 remote controls the sound bar made the decision for me. WOW! Technology like this exists?!?June 16, 2015 You WILL NOT get a better sound system for less than this, I'm surprised it's not worth at least 150. It's bigger than I imagined but it's still very compact, fits very nicely on my dresser, looks great and sounds even better. I hooked up a small sub to it cause the bass on the speaker itself isn't that much to brag about(that's my only negative comment about this thing) but added my own sub to it and it's as close to the movies as you will get without spending a chunk of change on a crazy system. Truly awestruck this technology exists in something like this. I've had a few sound systems in the past, even my own custom ones with receivers and by far this is the BEST surround sound I've ever had! I find myself jerking my head to the left or right cause I hear something, turns out it's just the sound bar. | Sounds pretty good to me...March 9, 2017 I un-boxed this Vizio sound-bar and plugged it into to the optical port on my LG TV. It took a minute to change the sound settings from 'TV Speakers' to 'LG Sound Sync (Optical)' on the LG TV. I can control the sound-bar volume right thru my TV remote while still using the Volume Indicator ( shows volume 1 thru 100) just like before I used the sound-bar. This thing works like a dream. And the price was lower than The Big Box "W" store (in-person price) by 20 bucks! But you must use the optical port from your TV and this unit comes packed with an optical cable. I believe you would be hard pressed to find a better device in this price range. Big sound for cheap!March 26, 2016 I bought this because the Samsung 60-inch LED TV I bought has what I believe to be the absolute worst built-in speakers ever made.This sound bar is a 10-fold improvement! Easy to install, and fits perfectly in my TV stand, blends so we'll most people don't even see it (see photo).It also has a subwoofer out, which is another feature I desired because I had a nice Yamaha woofer left from a previous system. Works great, only need a little subwoofer to make this soundbar really perform.Only negatives are: the included optic cable did not work, it was too short because the input on the soundbar is on the left, and the output on the TV is on the right. $5 for a 6-foot from Amazon fixed that. The remote is also a bit cheesy but it works until I get a good universal. Now if I could just find an easy way to hide the wires... Great solution for my tv's dialog problems.January 5, 2016 Was having problems hearing dialog when using the regular tv speakers. Thought a sound bar was a good way to go, as the wife didn't want to have to fire up a dedicated surround system every time we watched tv. This helped immensely. It isn't perfect, as there are times when I have to turn up the volume but this happens way less than before I got this. Purchased after seeing many positive reviews, both on Amazon and other sites, and have been satisfied with the results. Seems to have decent bass without using a subwoofer and overall sounds really good. Think you'd be hard pressed to find a better alternative at this price range. Hookup was really easy and the unit looks nice in front of my tv. Product was packaged well and arrived in good condition. Would definitely recommend. Be patient and wait.November 23, 2015 A great sounding sound bar, once you figure out how to set it up. I used the optical cable supplied and the sound is great, way better than the flat screen TV speakers. When setting it up, be patient in allowing the sound bar to recognize which setting you are using, since it has about a 4 second lag between choosing the setting and it putting out a sound. I thought I had a defective sound bar, until I realized the programming lag time. There are ready-made brackets available for about $50, but I made some from 5/8" aluminum angle for a cost of about $10. By the way, the machine screws are Metric and similar ones can be found at Lowes if you make your own bracket and need 2 more. I do have a minor sound lag between the TV and the sound bar, but just mute the TV since the sound bar sounds so much better. The sound bar will shut itself off if you pause your TV or video for very long, but that's a good thing if you forget to turn it off when done watching TV. Goo sound bar but not great soundSeptember 14, 2015 I purchased this VIZIO SB3820-C6 38 inch sound bar to replace an older VIZIO VSB201 40" Home Theater Sound Bar that died after about 6 years. I hate the sound quality I get from my flat screen TV speakers so for me a sound bar is a must! I was very happy with the VIZIO sound bar I had for the last 6 years until one Saturday it decided to only work on full volume. So, off I went to the local big box store to buy another one. Because, heaven forbid I have to watch TV using the TV speakers LOL. Well, I wanted to purchase another VIZIO because I knew I liked the sound quality of the one I had and it did last 6 years, which sadly was longer than the TV I originally bought it to go with. I do not know anything about dB's and DTS so I just purchased the VIZIO that seemed to be the best price to me. This was the VIZIO SB2920-C6 29-Inch sound bar. I hurried home, hooked it up (easy) and after adjusting treble, bass, and other various things I knew I hated it! It sounded crisp but very trebly (if that's a word). I tried it with my DISH receiver and my Blue Ray player with the same results. So, I immediately came on Amazon to search for a better VIZIO sound Bar and found the VIZIO SB3820-C6 38-Inch. I ordered it and received it in 2 days with Prime shipping. I immediately hooked it up and tried it out. It is much better than the 29". This one has Deep Bass modules so there is definitely more bass and doesn't sound so trebly. The sound is crisp and clear and it has Bluetooth to connect my iPhone which is a plus. But sadly, it is still not the movie theatre sound I was getting from my previous VIZIO sound bar that was about the same price. Still trying to decide if I want to keep this one or return it and get the refurbished version of the original one I had since it is now discontinued. Great sound + low priceAugust 8, 2015 I purchased a new 60" Vizio TV and wasn't thrilled with the sound, probably because of the rear facing speakers. The voices were somewhat muffled. This sound bar solved that problem and more. I couldn't be more pleased with the sound I have now and the big bonus was that the TV volume control also controls the sound bar. I used the optical connect and turned off the builtin speakers.The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars is that when I switched to HDMI2 for my DVD player, I had no sound. | Not Worth it for an Older TVJune 22, 2017 I have an older (2009) Sony 55" Flat screen TV and got this to boost the sound. It is alright for the price, but I am not really noticing that big of a difference in the sound volume than I was getting with the TV's speakers.Newer TV's typically skimp on the speakers so for a newer TV I am sure this works much better, but if your TV is a little older I would suggest bypassing this for a louder/better model. It will stop playing sound when I turn my TV off and will start back up if I turn my TV on within a short window, but otherwise I have to turn it back on again with the little remote and that seems silly. Should power on with whatever device it's input to. The input function is also a bit ridiculous when you're having to search for the correct input. But, for the price of this sound bar, it's really a good product and for as little as I use it, it does exactly what I need. It's ok.July 12, 2015 It's ok. Wanted a sound bar that I could control with the same remote as the TV. Since Samsung limits access through Bluetooth to Samsung products, this was the choice I had it I didn't want the whole surround system, or subwoofer system.So, the speaker helps distribute sound forward rather than bouncing off the walls, but the depth of sound and bass are not that good. I tried a slightly larger Vizio bar before this, and the sound was much better. Nice form, terrible functionMay 24, 2016 I purchased this soundbar along with the VIZIO M55-C2 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2015 Model). After looking at the large box, I was thrilled that the soundbar was perfectly designed to sit at bezel height, just under the viewable area of the TV. I connected the soundbar via the included optical cable and everything worked perfectly.Well, for a couple of weeks, anyway.One day, I was watching TV and all of a sudden, I couldn't control the volume. Weird. I stood right in front of the bar and pointed the cable box remote at the bar. Nothing. I tried the soundbar remote. Nothing. I checked all of the connections, and still nothing. The bar was powered on - at least the LED in front was on. So I rebooted the bar. Nothing. Finally, I unplugged the bar and let it sit for a while. Once I plugged it back in and powered it back on, the soundbar worked. But, fearing the worst, I sent in a return request to Amazon, thinking I had a defective bar.The replacement arrived quickly, and I plugged it in. Works great!For a couple weeks.Then, again, the new soundbar stops responding to the remote. Unplug, restart. The soundbar doesn't respond to remote input, then all of a sudden the volume shoots up to the max level, blowing everyone's eardrums out. Unplug, restart. The soundbar has no sound and doesn't respond to the built-in power button. Unplug, restart.I've had the second bar for three months now, and I've probably had to unplug and restart six or seven times due to unresponsiveness. I'd blame the Xfinity remote, or the fact that the soundbar has to interface with the TV, but 1) it's a new Vizio TV, so that shouldn't be an issue; and 2) even if it was, the soundbar's remote has the same issue as the Xfinity remote. Obviously, the problem lies with the soundbar, and not the remote.I can see having one bad experience - electronics are like that. But two with the exact same issue, if nothing else, points to a batch defect. I have to wonder if the one sentence "This stopped working - I hate online electronics" reviews are similar problems to my own issue...At any rate, I can only recommend this soundbar for the perfect fit against the TV - the frustrating experience I'm having with the functionality of the bar would cause me to recommend another solution to anyone looking for a soundbar. The problem is the sound bar shuts OFF (or in sleep mode) after the TV is OFF for about an hour (or less may be). When TV is turned ON, the sound bar does not come on simultaneously. Have to once again manually UP the volume with the remote. I have checked the settings to come ON automatically to normal volume, but no avail. This is annoying.
