Side by Side Comparison of: TMS vs Yamaha

I wasn’t looking for a cheap but solid piano bench and this fit the bill perfectly. Arrived in great condition and assembled easily (way easier than most furniture; just attach the legs) storage space is a nice feature and it is moderately comfortable; what you’d expect for the price. The bottom of the storage is a little thin bud should hold up to a lite load of sheet music and books. I am a smaller guy (165lbs) and feel it would be pretty narrow for two people to do a duet but it’s great for solo. Overall I am pleased with the quality of product and the price i paid

For an affordable piano bench, the quality is surprising. The legs were somewhat difficult to tighten, but once everything was snug, it turned out to be a high value mainstay for our music room. Highly recommended.

A pretty good piano bench for the money. So far, I haven't had any issues with it other than an occasional tightening.

This was a beautiful, solid, and chic new adition to our music room. It fit perfectly under our piano, there was a good amount of storage space inside and it came quickly. It has kids bouncing on it all day long and it hadn't shown any signs of damage after over 2 months at least. The color is beautiful and works well with our black piano. I would buy this again.

It's really nice. Although it came smelling of chemicals so I sprayed it with vinegar mixed with soap & water. & it smells normal. After you spray with vinegar you can use a regular spray & or an air freshener. Vinegar can be used on faux leather. This chair is much nicer than expected!!!

Very sturdy. I thought it would be too tippy for my antsy 6 and 9 year old boys, but is quite sure footed and they have not had a problem.

this thing is super sturdy. Adjustable to 3 heights as mentioned, it's very comfortable and I use it to sit on when playing guitar. It is rock solid, and comes assembled so nothing to worry about in that area. Fantastic product.

This stand is sturdy and firm. It feels as good or better than any full size wooden piano stool. It is easy to assemble and break down and very portable. This was included in a package deal with a Yamaha P45 piano keyboard.

Great for the price. I needed something slightly taller to sit on than a chair. Exactly what I needed.

We bought a piano that came with this bench as part of a package deal. I figured we wouldn't get much in the way of a bench, but we wanted the piano, so held off on purchasing another bench. I am so glad we did. The seat is thick and comfortable. It's very adjustable. You do not have to put it together, it comes completely assembled. My 8 year old, who is not a tall 8, uses this seat and can reach his keyboard perfectly. We have to put something under his feet, but we were more concerned about height than feet. He is a squirmer, even when he's playing, and this doesn't topple over or become unsteady.

This is a good solid piano bench and is not cheap looking. It looks surprisingly good with my electric piano. It's sturdy enough for large adults. I studied most of the piano benches offered on Amazon and read most of the reviews before deciding on this one, and have not regretted choosing it. I just wish I could store some music inside of it.

I wish there was more padding in the seat, which is the only reason it didn't get 5 out of 5 stars. I can totally feel the buttons. Although, placing a couple of folded blankets on top gave it enough cushion to sit on for longer periods of time. The top material is some type of soft vinyl that protects it when something is spilled on it. It came with its own wrench, albeit a really silly little one, but I keep it in the bench to tighten up the nuts about twice now, every 6 months. Very sturdy as well. Can hold at least 250 pounds (113 kg), I bet it would hold up to 300 lbs (136 kg) even. The wood legs are still shiny black with no dings or scuffs after daily usage. Is amazing to use as a piece of bedroom furniture, near the closet or at the foot of the bed; very versatile. Lid lifts up and down smoothly, it stays up in the vertical position. The storage space can hold a lot of books.9/10 would buy again, unless there is a huge discount on a better cushioned bench with the same design.

This piano bench went very well with the Williams Rhapsody electronic piano that I bought. The only issue that I have run into is that the legs become loose over time but can easily be tightened again.The overall build quality for this piano bench is satisfactory for the price.Williams Rhapsody 2 88-Key Console Digital Piano

Very Good bench for the money. Love that I can keep my sheet music somewhere organized that isn't on some table/horizontal surface near the piano. Comfortable enough to use for decent playing times, I haven't tried sitting on it for more than and hour and a half or so.The buttons are a little hard, they usually don't bother me when playing, but on a rare occasion if I need to slide because I'm using a different side of the piano I'll "notice" them.

This is a very good bench for the price. I am 250 pounds and it is very sturdy with me seated. The storage compartment bottom is a bit flimsy, so i wouldn't put much music inside but the overall strength of the structure is fine unless you are very heavy (like more than 300 lbs).

I like the chair. This is the cheapest you'll find for a piano bench that has storage - even with the hefty shipping. I was thinking of getting a regular ottoman type bench with storage but the height would be so much shorter. This bench is just a good height with the digital piano i have. It's tat low (~1 inch) for my taste but it's pretty standard for the piano bench heights. easy to assemble, sturdy. I haven't used it long enough to see how long the fake leather padding last.

Solid seat. Just make sure the knob is tightened well. May need to check once in awhile but the seat will not collapse unless the main screw is completely removed. Good cushioning for comfort.

Not the best piano seat i ever sat on for sure but as a keyboard seat for less than an hour practise once in a while it does the job.It was easy to mount, just unfold and screw and it pretty light and portable.The comfort is not the best of all and to be honest more than an hour seating on this would seem challenging to me but as a simple solution it works.

It does the job and is comfortable. I prefer a good wooden piano bench that opens so I can store my piano books but this does the job and is light enough and comfortable

This bench is functional, but uncomfortable. I bought it because it was the cheapest one, and you get what you pay for. I use it exclusively in my home studio, so I don't spend too much time on it for long stretches, so it's a great fit for me. If you like a softer cushion, spend the extra money...

The bench works well, I am not used to sitting without a back but it is good. The cushion isn't the greatest but for a half hour or hour it works well, seems solid and I would recommend it to anyone, I think it would hold a large person, I am over 200 pounds and it doesn't seem to mind...

Very good quality.Comfy cushion, nice leather, stable and sturdy.I'm 250 lb and it stands like a rock under me.Two cons. Both minor, don't affect the quality of the chair when it's assembled.1. The height: I'd want to be able to put it a bit lower. Will have to drill another hole myself.2. The bolt. You have to unscrew the bolt completely and try not to loose the washers, and assembly it back. It could be done more simply.

The buttons that are in the cushion hurt to sit on.I would say that for the price it is a pretty reasonable product though.

Before I bought it I read people's reviews of the buttons popping off and took my chances. I've had mine for 2 years and I've lost one button. I wouldn't buy an upholstered one again if it's at the lowest price point like this one. On the up side, I can scoot back and forth, utilizing all the keyboard's octaves, and it serves me very well. I like having a real wooden bench with storage and this suits that need. My favorite songbooks are inside the bench. The price was right. It sure beats the adjustable metal benches from Guitar Center.

This is shiny and provides storage and dual sitting places. Looks very good. My wife loves the way it looks in the living room. However, this bench doesn't strike me as being heavy-duty or resistant to the least abuse. I have another bench I bought for my upstairs piano that is not so fancy, doesn't have storage, doesn't seat two comfortably, but strikes me as being more sturdy. It's the On Stage KT 800 Keyboard Bench. I would give the On Stage one five stars because I like it's stability and durability. For example, I would stand on the On Stage bench; I would not stand on this one. There are obviously trade offs.Update: I have recently posted a YouTube video comparison of this piano bench with the On Stage Stands KT 7800. After having used the TMS bench for a month now, I take away a star or two for comfort and durability. Bench itself appears to be in good condition, sturdy after being assembled. Gave it three stars because a part was missing. This was a Christmas gift, so I couldn't gift it until almost two weeks after Christmas.

I got this for my 5 and 7 year old. It is adjustable but the drawback is at the highest setting this bench has the tendency to tip. My 5 year old fell off it and so did her friend. I didn't keep this in mind while shopping. I recommend that you look for a wider bench for small kids or if you need it for an adult that cannot balance well.

The Product is good enough, and I thought it was worth the price. However, other comments were correct and this is in no way an official Yamaha product which is false advertising. I don't know why their not just honest and say what it is, because for the price I think it's perfectly acceptable it's not from a big brand. I think that would be better than misleading customers and wouldn't lead to negative reviews.

I bought this to use with my Yamaha DGX 650B. When it arrived, I was surprised at how small it is. I should have paid more attention to the dimensions rather than the pictures. One reviewer states it might hold 200 lb. That would be the upper limit by my guess. This bench is more suitable for a child or a small-built adult. I'm 6'4" and 300lb. I was afraid to sit on it and returned it. I'm sure this is a nice bench for a smaller person.

The bench seems sturdy and well-made. But be careful if you intend to use it with a keyboard on a keyboard stand like the one I purchased, the Yamaha PKBX2. At the stand's lowest setting, my Yamaha CP40 piano keyboard is 30 1/2 inches from the ground, not necessarily a big deal. The PKBB1 keyboard bench has a maximum height of 20 1/2 inches. For most people, this bench height is fine if your keyboard is 28 inches from the floor, but it's too low if, as in this case, the keyboard is 30 1/2 inches from the floor. I had to choose between returning the stand or returning the bench, so I'm returning the bench and getting a taller one. The PKBX2 keyboard stand should probably not be sold as a bundle with this bench.

I purchased this item a few days ago and received it promptly. However, when I went to remove the plastics covering the leg braces, I discovered rusted screws. Needless to say, I am going to be returning this for a replacement. The bench does look and feel sturdy and the padding feels very adequate and comfortable for prolonged sitting. On this particular order, I can't trust the integrity of the bench when the screws holding everything together have rust all over them. For now, I'm giving 3 stars and will update if the replacement arrives in better condition.

I purchased the Yamaha BB1 bench to use with my Yamaha DGX530 keyboard. While an OK value for a relatively low price, the Yamaha bench is solid but plain-looking. It has hollow metal legs, and thin padding with a soft vinyl covering that looks like it could tear or puncture easily, so maybe not a good choice if you have children that might climb on it. It came packaged in a plastic bag within a box, with no real protective padding of any kind, just a couple of pieces of foam to keep the legs from moving around and getting scratched. That didn't work! Before I opened the box I could hear the legs rattling around in there. When I opened it and looked it over I saw that the legs all had small scratches on them, and the vinyl top had a 1/2" cut in it. I find that baffling, because there was no damage at all to the box that I could see, and I did not use a blade to open it. Even if I had, the cut was off to the side and at an angle! Very strange! This would have had to be packaged this way, unless of course it was returned damaged and then resold. (I noticed another review where the reviewer found a tear also, but went ahead and taped it.)Bottom line, after using it for 2 days, I found it reasonably comfortable and sturdy, but a bit low for me. If you can get an undamaged one, it is a plain, sturdy bench for reasonable price and I think you will be happy with it.Rather than return it for a replacement, I decided to return it and try an adjustable bench.I purchased the Ebony Adjustable Artist Piano Bench through Amazon and CPS Imports. It was almost double the cost, but worth every penny and more. Read my review of that bench for more info.NOTE: I may have given the Yamaha bench 4 stars if I had not been able to compare it with the Ebony bench. I did not take the damage into consideration when deciding on the 3 star rating.

The piano bench looks nice and was not damaged upon arrival, but it did not come with the hardware necessary for assembly. Missing 4 nuts (and 4 washers) needed to put the legs on. We will need to go out and find hardware that works.

The bench does not look bad and fits two thin adults comfortably however the buttons do hurt my ankle if I sit cross-legged. The under-seat compartment is useful but it is also poorly built. Poor quality for the price I paid (~$50)

Keeps wobbling. The nuts do not want to hold fast.

It's pretty but VERY cheap. Leg broke the first day we had it. Company was nice and sent a new leg but we have to baby this thing now.

I know it was inexpensive - but two of the buttons on top came undone just by sitting on it - I glued one back and forced the otehr back on - still good price and does the job

I gave it two stars because it's not very comfortable and I would like it to go just a little lower. I'm 5'4" and I have a hard time touching the ground. I have to hang off the front.

Completely off-level--by more than 1". Wobbles way too much to be of any use, even for a child. I returned it. Otherwise quality is fine--in fact this is indistinguishable from other such items, so much so that I expect we see many identical products under different brand names. So you might have better luck with yours.

Do not get this bench if you are planning to travel with it. To adjust the height will take a number of steps of unscrewing the lock from the cross (x). Also, to collapse this bench into flat position you have to screw/unscrew at a couple of places. Not that big a deal for some people, but I was expecting an easy 2 second process (similar to adjusting height on typical keyboard stands) which this bench does not have.If you plan to have it sitting in just one place then this should be ok. Also, the seat isn't that comfortable.

The stool is a good quality and looks nice. I'm thoroughly disappointed, however. I bought this because of the adjustable height. I need a 17 or 17 1/2 inch stool for my nine-year-old cello-playing daughter. At the lowest setting, it measures 19 inches from the seat to the floor.It's not worth sending it back, but now I'm stuck with a stool that's worthless to me.

Shenannigans!! This is NOT a Yamaha product as the listing would lead you to believe. It's a generic off-brand bench. Buyer beware. It's relatively cheap and I need it right away, so I'm not going to bother to return it. But the listing needs to be amended to reflect the truth. If you are buying this expecting traditional Yamaha professional quality, look elsewhere.

I bought two of these and assembled them as tightly as possible. They were left in practice rooms at my school to be used regularly. A leg broke on both of them within a month. The construction seems to not be super flimsy. I neglected to return them during the window. I am hoping they send me replacement legs. They look very nice though.

Piano bench came with mold and missing the screws for the legs.

very rickety and one screw was not long enough to put thought and tighten the leg so the bench wobbles the entire time you are on it.

It came broken. Whem i called for a replacememt they offered 50% discount, but the item could not be used as is. They then offered me a full refund. I dod not order a new one because it was too flimsy. It was very pretty, wish it was sturdier

I just received this in the mail today and it's completely damage there's a huge tear on the outside this is on acceptable .

I purchased the bench brand-new when I took it out of the box the entire thing was moldy! I had to spend time cleaning disinfecting and then protecting it I'm still waiting for the odor to go away. Since it was a birthday present I did not have time to hassle with returning and waiting for a new one.

I used this bench for a few days, shipped it back and ordered the one linked below. The bench was overall just too small and not firm enough which made my back and shoulders ache after sitting there for any length of time. Really love the new one. Yes, it's more expensive but totally worth paying extra. I sat and played for over 2 hours one night this week with no problems at all.On Stage KT7800 Plus Padded Keyboard Bench

The legs didn't fit into the grooves under the seat. I would have returned it but my son jerry-rigged it.

Poorly engineered; loose fittings and moorings for legs-to-bench attachments. Constantly had to tighten bolts and screws for legs which ultimately tore away from wood bench in less than a month. Dangerous seating for player.

This is not a Yamaha bench. It's imported by a company in CT from China, and the distributed by Yamaha. Yamaha does not produce this bench.

Like L. Jarlot, I recieved a generic brand bench. I also ordered the Yamaha PKBS1 Single Braced Adjustable X-Style Keyboard Stand, and it was a generic brand as well. There are many other brands out there that cost the same, or LESS than the "YAMAHA" brand, but I spent the extra money because I wanted and trust the YAMAHA brand name. I am not going to return the products because they are not bad quality. I am just dissapointed that they are being advertised as "YAMAHA" products

The bench is advertised as a Yamaha bench, but delivered a china made and distributed by Yamaha. This is a thick advertise. In my understand is a cheating.
