It's more designed to keep out a snooping office mate rather than a thief. I'm pretty sure I could rip it open if I wanted to. But again, if you wanted something that's that secure, buy an actual safe not a file cabinet.Not a big issue, but you have to kinda wave the folders back and forth as you're putting them into the drawers because the indentations that the drawers glide on leave very little space between the folder and the indentation. Again, not much of an issue once you figure it out.It has a tendency to tip if you have both drawers out. Since mine is going under a table I just set a couple extra 10-pound plates on top of it since they don't show anyway and it doesn't tip at all. I paid $66.99 in June, so when you see reviews that say they got a great deal, don't always assume it is for the price you see the day you are looking at the item. I saw others say they paid $55. I guess it depends on the day. At the $91.00 price, I may shop a little more or try my local office supply or Costco.It's metal and not purchased for looks, but for function. If you want something that looks good with your decor, then buy a cabinet that looks like an end table.I got this for my Mom to help her organize a little. The rollers make it portable which is a nice feature. It is just big enough on the top hold a small HP all in one Printer/Fax machine. It's fairly easy to put together. Let me tell you how to set them up (because there are some people writing reviews stating that they don't work).1. Tear each of the labels at the perforated lines. There will be some small sections at the end of each strip that are trash.2. Place the label inside of the plastic sleeves. You can have the small section jutting out, or you can fold it behind the larger label.3. This is very important. The plastic sleeves go in between the slits in the tops of the folders. If you have it in correctly, it should be snug in place and not fall over! The plastic sleeves are also slanted for a reason. I attached the handles with a phillips head screwdriver and they went on no problem. I'm able to put printer on top and once I start adding files should balance out the weight but so far it doesn't seem like it will lean. It seems sturdy enough. Only the top 2 drawers lock so the bottom could be used for stationery and things like that that aren't too valuable. Once it's completely set up and in full use I will amend the rating. It came quickly and well-packaged. For a single guy, it does what it needs to do with plenty of room. Note that the drawers are sized for 8.5"x11" hanging folders and won't accommodate legal 8.5"x14". There's some small assembly required with putting on the drawer handles as well as the casters if you want the cabinet to roll.My biggest gripe with the cabinet is the lock is pretty weak, and it seems like the drawers could easily be ripped out if one were ransacking your place. I thinks it better to go to the store so you can see and get what you want. I should have read the reviews before purchasing. Home delivery is not always the best option with certain things. Pretty good file for very low price February 25, 2016 I was between a three and a four rating and wish I could give it a 3.5 since it's quite functional and very inexpensive. It is also, however, a very light duty cabinet. If we're just a tiny bit heavier and a tiny bit wider it would get a four or possibly even a five.The manufacturer has this one scrimped down to the minimum as far as dimensions and metal gauge are concerned but it does indeed work pretty well considering the cost..Some other reviews mention the lock being balky or weak or whatever and I didn't even try mine. If you need serious security, this isn't the place to look.Assembly was easy and fast. Appearance is very good. Once loaded with a few files, it's actually more stable but you probably should spend more (a lot more) if you need a cabinet for daily service.For people who just want to organize their household papers and files and who do NOT work in the cabinet regularly, this is a pretty good solution at a very low price. Doesn't hold as much as I expected. September 4, 2015 I got this for home use. It came without the drawer handles and the wheels installed. The drawer handles were very easy to install. The wheels were not too bad to install, but it did take some force on the screw driver to get the screws in.I had files from a project that were in a clear plastic file box with a lid, but the files had outgrown the box a bit. I thought this two drawer cabinet would work to hold the files and some supplies such as envelopes, etc. I was surprised at how little this file cabinet holds. It does hold the files that were in the file box and the overflow, but it didn't have enough room then to hold the supplies. It barely held much more than that one clear file box had held. Also, the file cabinet does seem a bit flimsy, but so far is working fine. It doesn't look as good as shown, but it's fine. I did roll it on the wheels with no problems. I didn't overload it though. It seems it will do the job for a while anyway. don't expect this to be a super sturdy piece but it will get the job done ... June 4, 2015 This is your standard metal filing cabinet. I purchased it because it comes with wheels and from past experience trying to move a full filing cabinet without wheels is difficult.Anyway, I gave it a 3 star because the handles came with the wrong screws and I was not able to attach them. I haven't bothered with the wheels yet until the seller responds to my message to let me know if they can send the appropriate ones. I read another review on here from a year ago where someone had a similar issue. I don't know how they can overlook this. This would be an inconvenience if I have to go find appropriate screws at a hardware store so either they send the right ones or I'm returning it.As far as quality...don't expect this to be a super sturdy piece but it will get the job done in terms of storing files. Basic File Cabinet February 23, 2014 I was very pleased to receive this file cabinet to replace a very aged one. The list of pro's for this cabinet are: Easy to assemble; Drawers open/close with relative ease; No need for internal wire frame as it's contructed for hanging folders. Also a big plus over my previous cabinet is the protruding handles which provide a good grip to open/close the drawers. My previous cabinet had recessed pulls that my hands would slip out of. The one BIG negative to the file cabinet is that as a rolling file cabinet, the front wheel rollers do not have locks. Thus everytime I go to open the cabinet, it rolls towards me. Had I noticed this prior to ordering, I would not have ordered this particular cabinet. Lastly, both a positive and negative is that although light weight, the materials used are a bit flimsy thus it is less sturdy than I would prefer. I live out of this cabinet thus I'm opening/closing it constantly. This is more noticable to me versus someone who would use this for archive filing. | 4% Named "Basic" for a reason. Two Star Reviews: | 6% Missing screws April 28, 2017 The item is alright though the metal feels a bit flimsy. The issue was that a couple of screws for mounting the handles were missing. I was able to find replacements in my bin of extra screws, but they don't fit quite as well.Otherwise it's alright, but I'm not sure it's worth the price. Disappointed. It just feels cheaply made. If You Need a Filing Cabinet That Will Last, Don't Buy This One June 3, 2016 I bought this to store lesson plan materials. The top and the bottom drawers are a little less than halfway full. After about 2 months of less than average use, the plastic drawer glide on top drawer's left side broke. Now that the right side sits higher than the left, the drawer is angled sideways. To get it to close, I have to lift the drawer up so that it's level and then push forward. Another big drawback is that there's no bracket inside the drawer to hold your files upright, so when you close the drawer, they slump down. When you reopen the drawer, to see the tabs you have to hoist the folders back up again, then arrange them in an upright position as best you can. If I had it to do over again, I would NOT buy this file cabinet. Instead, I would spend a little extra money and buy a sturdier one that will function properly. It's fine if you don't care if a rolling and locking filing cabinet neither rolls or locks. March 12, 2014 The biggest complaint I have is that when trying to put the casters on the bottom, you find our right away that while the casters are drilled with the correct size holes for the screws, the matching holes in the base of the cabinet are not. Too small and no way to fix it without drilling them larger.
