Great product!

This great product has retired our tea kettle. We also use hot water directly from it to shorten the cook time on rice, pasta and steamed vegetables. On top of that very easy install if your son-in-law is at all handy.
I love this and use it more than I expected to
April 6, 2017
I love this and use it more than I expected to. I use it daily for making oatmeal and washing dishes and other cleaning chores. Husband said it was easy to install. The way he installed it gave me lots of room for storage below the sink. I would add that he installed the faucet at an angel so the lever would not hit the backsplash, it may look a bit awkward but functions beautifully. I am thrilled with it.
Tea, Mr. Carson

Bought this in 2015, and first got it installed in June 2016. Have been using it 3 weeks and simply love it. Under the sink there is a knob to adjust the water temp. I don't have it turned to the highest setting which is 200 degrees. Mine is about 170, which is plenty hot for tea. There's a simple on-off switch to turn it off when you won't use it for a few days. I haven't seen an electric bill yet so can't say how much it costs to keep this running 24/7. If I think it's too much I'll try wrapping the unit underneath with a little insulation to see how it affects the bill. It feels warm to the touch which means I'm heating air too.By chance it almost perfectly matches the faucet I laboriously selected. I'm just in love with this instant tea feature without having some unsightly unit taking up countertop space. I feel like I live in Downton Abbey. Instant hot tea any minute of the day. OK, the feeling will pass but I'm loving it now.
Couldn't live without it now...

Though I absolutely respect the negative reviews, and recommend that (considering the expense) you read all of them, good and bad. I've had a very good experience with mine, however - we've had it for several months now, and couldn't be happier. If you have the option and funds, and your household is like mine in that you're constantly making coffee and tea but hate using up counter space for something that heats water, having a boiling-water-on-demand tap to mount on your kitchen sink can be amazing. The water heater unit does take up some under-sink real estate, and an in-line filter between the water line and the heater is an indispensible accessory to keep everything tasting good and prevent minerals from shortening the life of the unit. Last year in a fit of insanity I splurged on this one - the InSinkerator H-WaveSN-SS - and a Woder in-line water filter system from Amazon to go along with our new sink, and at the time I felt guilty at blowing almost $400 for such luxury (yes, that IS a bundle of money!) The guilt is long gone, however - it is certifiably one of the best potentially bad decisions I've ever made, and we use it constantly for everything. From coffee and tea, to speeding up the process of making rice and pasta, to soaking baked-on food off of casserole dishes, it's paid for itself twice over at this point. I'll come back and amend this if anything changes or it fails within the next year...but so far, it's terrific.
Perfect for our needs
October 23, 2015
We had an SSI model InSinkerator and it lasted 10+ years. Hate to admit but we never even changed the filter on it. (did not know we had to change it. I was so upset when it stopped working. This is a perfect replacement. The hook up was easy since we already had one. The hardest part was removing the old faucet. The opening was about 1 1/2" on this so ot was a bit larger than my old one. . This was a great price. We paid this much on just the faucet. The water flows a bit heavier on this, which I like. Its a perfect height to fit a cup, bowl, or pot. We did hook up a filter system with this, so maybe will last longer. The water taste great too. If we get 3-4 yrs., its still worth it. I love my Instant hot water and use it everyday. Great for Oatmeal, hot chocolate, coffee and boiled water for pasta. This is my favorite gadget in the whole house. Couldnt be without it.I love amazon.com. I get a package everyday and am a big reviewer. I refer everybody to amazon Hoping I'll get picked for the vine program.
Updated look gives our sink a new lease on life!
December 30, 2014
We replaced an old style dispenser- the kind with the round knob on top- with this unit, and it is fantastic! The style matches the faucet- also replaced in the past year and has updated the look of our sink by 20 years! I was a little concerned that the opening would not be the same size, but it was, no worries. Our handy man installed it for us, so I can't speak to the installation process, but I love the new look.

May 25, 2017
Why this one ? Mother wore the old hot pot out ( actually it didn't last and started leaking ) , and replacement was needed.I didn't want to buy the same one again and decided to spend more to see if we could get better quality.Mother, 83 and very active, uses this for tea doesn't have to stand around over hot stove or get the kettle which makes me feel better ( every little bit counts and decreases any accidents or oopses - Mr Miyagi said it best... "Best defense is not be there" :)Hot-pot nice quality, no issues so far, mother likes it and it keeps little grand and great grand kiddos a bit safer should they get near it and are tempted to press buttons. At this moment I will say I will buy again, that is NOW, I a'm looking forward to THEN... when it comes I will share again how I feel..
It has been working great for 4 years now
March 26, 2017
It has been working great for 4 years now. my family enjoy hot team almost everyday.I'd like to add some new feature I just discovered today...Today i open the wall cabinet above the boiler but didn't expect a small bottle dropped. i was trying to catch it with my hand and i missed.. what's worse is i accidentally push this water boiler off the cabinet top and it falls down to the floor, with about 1L hot water in it!! at that moment all i had in my mind is darn here goes my boiler.. but this baby did a 360 turn (because of the cable pulling off while falling off) and STAND STILL on my wood floor with only few drops hot water spilled.. what a miracle!the base did have a bit misplaced. i use my hand to push it back and plug it back on and it continued working like nothing happened..if you need a water boiler or maybe just a water container just give them the money. it won't break. cheers
Love my Zojirushi! A must-have!
September 5, 2016
I grew up with one of these, and I just bought one for my college dorm. Zojirushi is such a nice company—I love all of their products. Typical Japanese high-quality product. For a while I was using an electric kettle to make tea, but I got so tired of boiling water every time I wanted it. So I decided to splurge and get this. It is totally worth it! I also like the different temp settings, which are perfect for me, because different teas need different temperatures. For example, most green teas are best at 175 degrees, and oolong is best at 195, etc. I drink at least three cups of tea per day so this water heater saves me a solid 30-45 minutes, as opposed to the days when I had to boil water each time and let it cool. The only thing that can be annoying is that if you want to go from 175 to 195 degrees, or from just added cold water to 175 degrees, the machine will reboil the water, bringing the temp up to 212, and then cooling back down to the target temp. I don't know why they didn't make it so that it just heats up the the target temp without reboiling. It's annoying, but you can trick the machine by unplugging it to stop the reboil process. For example, if you're heating from 175 to 195, just pull the plug a few seconds after it gets to 190, and when you plug it back in the temp should be 195.

August 16, 2016
I don't know how anyone lives without one of these. Hot water dispensers, IMO, should be as essential to a household as a microwave is. While the instructions for this machine says one should descale it every 3 months and wash it, blah blah blah, I figured it is boiling hot water and therefore sterilizing itself every day, so I never wash mine. I have hard water, so calcium does build up on the walls of the inside of the hot water heater. When they flake off, I just rinse them off. I had mine for a year and I haven't washed it once.If the water being dispensed slows down, you can descale with vinegar easily.Zojirushi is a trusted brand and I highly recommend this unit.
Must have appliance
July 15, 2016
Once you have one of these water heaters you can never go back. I drink so much more tea now that I have this thing. I also use it for making french press coffee. You can have fresh coffee in just the few minutes you have to let it steep. My mom always used to heat tea up in the microwave and then forget about it and leave it there. Now she can actually get hot water on demand and drink her tea!The swivel base is great and lets you turn and pull the thing out to easily refill it. It plays a lovely song when the water is warmed up so you know its time for tea. Maybe its just the water at our house, but I have never had a problem with scaling or corrosion or any of that.Zojirushi makes really nice water heaters and they have the awesome elephant logo so you know its good.
Glad I Bought This!
September 14, 2014
I have only owned this warmer for about a week, but I am already in love with it and wonder why I waited so long to buy it. Well, I know why I waited so long to buy it - I was waiting to see if the price would come down, even though Amazon by far has the lowest price around. When I first took the warmer out of the box, I looked at the owner's manual that comes with the device and was surprised how much reading was involved. I quickly read the booklet and was a little confused by some of the instructions, but I figured that once I started playing with it, I would understand it better. I did. I also have to admit that after reading the booklet, I wondered why did I buy this thing, it's just a very expensive water heater, how lazy can I be.Well, let me tell you, I no longer feel that way. This thing has won me over. This is how I use it. The night before, I set the timer to warm my water to 208 degrees and be ready when I get up. I have 1-2 cups of tea that requires that temperature of water and then if I feel that I am going to have green tea during the day, I set the temperature to 175. After we get through the afternoon, I reset the warmer back to 208 so that it is ready for me for the evening and my night time teas. By that time, the water is very low or gone so I dump out what is left and fill it back up and set the timer around 11 p.m. for the next morning.Did I say that I just love this warmer? With winter and cool weather coming, this thing is going to get a lot of use.

April 4, 2017
If your counter is over 3/4" (most solid surfaces are) thick you will need a 1.5" hole. Those bits are harder to find so I suggest ordering a 1.5" diamond drill bit at the same time so you have what you need when you go to install the spigot.
Hot water convenience
June 20, 2016
I had this professionally installed 3 months ago to replace one with a leading tank. Prior InSinkErator tanks last about 5-6 years before they start to leak and need replacement. I had the tank replaced twice with my old system. This tank is different from the prior ones, so will need to see how long it lasts. This time I had the spout replaced as well because the older one was looking worn (but still functional). After 3 months this product is working well. Great to have instant hot water. A real convenience I would recommend to anyone.
So far so good
November 1, 2015
Bought this to replace a cheaper unit which died after about 3 years. This one has a nice fit and finish - the handle feels solid and looks great. Installation was a bit more involved because of the 2-piece design. The plumbing between the faucet and tank are not very long so reaching a wall to mount the tank took some planning and a little rearranging. Otherwise I like that the tank is out of the way on the wall rather than hanging down in the middle of the plumbing connections. The plumbing connections between the faucet and tank have unique connectors so they cannot be connected wrong. The unit has performed well for the first couple of months. The water is very hot and has good pressure / volume.
Seems to be a reasonable replacement for the older model, but still way overpriced
July 21, 2015
Aside from the obscene price, we love the convenience. We've gone through 3 InSinkErator systems over the years. The first one had a non-stainless tank, total ripoff fail, rusted out quickly. The second had a stainless tank, but crappy cardboard seals failed and it leaked everywhere, but it did take 6 years to do so. Hoping this one lasts a lot longer, it really should given the price. So, why did I get yet another one? Because they seem to be made much better than the competition, especially the new ones. While the brand is now owned by Emerson, a champion of consumer barely-acceptable appliances, this seems to be pretty well made. And, really, once you have instant hot water, very hard to go back.
Looks good and easy to install. Prepare to spend $10 on extra parts.
July 8, 2012
This was a very easy install. I was able to mount the item to my silestone counter using an existing 1.5" hole left by a previous sprayer. (The fit on my sink was actually a bit tight, but that is because the old hole was just a touch under 1.5" in diameter. I simply put a 1.25" drum sander on my drill to provide enough clearance and I was back in action... without running the risk of damaging the threads on the faucet. A Dremel tool or a hand file would have also worked.)Mounting the faucet took only a few minutes. Mounting the tank was also a very simple task. A couple quick pilot holes and a hand screw driver mounted the tank to the 1/4 wood that faced the back of my sink cabinet. The plumbing was also very easy, but if you are not comfortable with the myriad of water line parts, you might want to spend a few minutes chatting with one of the friendly chaps at your local home improvement store. The item does not include any of the actual parts to mount the tank to your cold water line. Be prepared to spend $5-10 in parts such as a T-Fitting, compression sleeve, 3/8 to 1/4 adapter. There are plenty of ways you can hook this up depending on the parts on hand, or you can just bring the install guide to your local store and get some help from the guys in the aprons. In terms of the tank quality and the water: thus far, we are quite satisfied. Time will tell how it holds up. At the moment, however, we love it and are enjoying the many newfound uses for quick near-boiling water. I recall seeing some of the reviews that complained about the piping out of the tank. I don't have any concerns with the design, I did nevertheless angle the hot water copper piping so it is not in direct contact with the cold water return. One final thought, you will want to know what your electrical plan is before you dive in. This product draws less amps than the typical garbage disposal, so assuming you already have one wired in you will find a number of options available for safely drawing from the same circuit.
Works very well except for one thing
December 18, 2010
We have owned hot water dispensers since 1987. We love them and use it every day, mostly for tea and soups. This model will be our 4th Insinkerator hot water dispenser. We are remodeling our kitchen and wanted a new style to fit. This model looks great with our new kitchen decor. I installed it easily. Quick connect tubing and pipe fittings make it simple. However, there is one drawback. The hot water has a very strong plastic taste that ruins the flavor of tea or soup. This is due, I believe, to the plastic tubing from the hot water tank up to the dispenser spigot. We discovered that letting the hot water run a few seconds before filling the cup does away with any plastic taste. Not very energy wise, but they should have used copper tubing instead of plastic in that particular place.

A must for every home
April 16, 2017
If you love drinking warm water and hot tea, this baby will make your life so much easier. The only thing I disapprove is how I can't set the water to certain temperature without having it to reach the boiling point first.I have to manually stop the boil to prevent it from going up to boiling point.
The only question I have after using it for a season - why didn't I buy one sooner!
August 14, 2016
The only question I have after using it for a season - why didn't I buy one sooner!Nothing like having hot water ready anytime for your tea when it's cold outside and you walk into your home. It's also helpful to be able to set the temperature to use for different types of teas. The only reason I gave it four instead of five stars is because I've noticed a rusty spot by the hole on the bottom of the inside pot. I called support but they were somewhat dismissive. I've cleaned it well and it seem not too bad now but it's a product defect in my opinion...
Awesome Water boiler!! Can't go wrong with the Elephant Brand
April 15, 2016
My mom and my sister have sworn by this brand. And both have the older models at home. I have bought 2 , one for myself and one for my mom which she needed a upgrade her pump wasn't working well. After receiving the Zojirushi water boiler in 2 days from PRIME I installed and cycled mine before using. Great design overall, looks sleek, low profile with the matted finish. Bottom of the water boiler is a swivel discs so you could position you're water boiler the way you like it.The downfall is the unit is made in China , Our assumption was everything from assembly and manufacturing was by Japan. So my mom wanted to return hers, and find another Zojirushi that is manufactured and assembled in Japan. Can't go wrong with the Elephant Brand
Zojirushi rules!
April 4, 2013
We have owned a number of these over the years, and this one is probably the best one yet. It is a good size for our household (3 people) where we use it primarily for having hot water on hand for making tea and for drinking boiled water (we filter and boil all of our drinking water for our child and for most of our drinks as well). This one, like most, has a non-stick surface inside, so we thoroughly cleaned and rinsed and boiled a few pots before actual use. Despite the non-stick interior, mineral build-up still occurs, so we generally run the cleaning cycle every so often using either the Zojirushi citric acid cleaning agent or a vinegar water mix. While some people seem to worry about the chemicals released from non-stick surfaces, I would like to point out that since the highest temperature the pot ever reaches is the boiling point for water (100C/212F), I have not had this concern (my understanding is that the temperature would have to reach around 400F for these harmful chemicals to be released, which the pot will never even get close to reaching). Zojirushi (Japan) makes many high quality items, so I definitely recommend this one too.
Workhorse water boiler
January 16, 2013
The Zojirushi CD-WBC40 is a first-rate gizmo, dependability-wise. I've owned mine for just over 13 months, and I've used it every day since then. It's exceedingly well-built, with high quality materials and construction...a real workhorse, day in and day out.Cleaning is relatively easy. I have a lemon tree that produces humongous lemons year-round, so I used fresh-squeezed lemon juice and water to clean the unit. Zojirushi recommends cleaning it monthly to remove accumulated scale, but I'm too lazy to do that. I clean it every two to four months, so I get more scale build-up between cleanings, and I end up having to run the cleaning cycle twice. But that's not Zojirushi's fault. Anyhow, I don't mind doing the double-cleaning less frequently, and it doesn't seem to hurt the unit's performance.I have one gripe about this product, which is the reason why I'm only giving it four stars. The pre-programmed temperatures are wrong (for me). To be fair, I knew what those temperatures were (140°, 175°, 195°, and 208°) before I bought the unit. I thought I could live with them (in principle), but in practice they're a pain. I have many teas for which the ideal brewing temperatures are 160° or 180°. I can sort of fudge the 180° teas with the 175° setting, but it's not ideal. The 160° teas (whites and many greens) are a complete FAIL. I have to set the temperature for 140°, then hit the "Reboil" button, and stand there and watch the temperature readout until it hits 160°...then yank the power cord out of the unit to stop the reboil before the temperature goes higher. What a royal pain in the nether cheeks. At the very least, Zojirushi should provide a way to cancel the Reboil without having to yank out the power cord.I realize that it's impossible to please everyone, and I don't expect Zojirushi to know exactly what every user wants. So, the solution is obvious: Zojirushi should make the temperature presets user-programmable. If they made such an intelligently designed water boiler that had exactly the same quality as the CD-WBC40--which is superb in every other respect--I'd buy it in a heartbeat, and give it 5 stars. But for those who find the existing temperature presets acceptable, you won't find a better water boiler anywhere, at any price.
Great product...it's an energy hog, though.
March 12, 2010
Positive reviews are 100% correct regarding this product. We can't live without it. I do have one thing to say, though. Since it is not a thermal pot, it uses approx 90 watts to maintain a constant water temperature. I bought an International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor here on Amazon and this was the first product that I measured. My plugged in laptop only generated 40 watts of power....half of what this pot generates in standby mode. It comes in at 731 watts to boil water (my toaster takes 457 watts). We use the timer feature at night, but keep it on all day. So, figuring 16 hours of standby use and throwing in an average of three boils a day, we figure that it costs approx $12-15 per month to operate. We COULD take it off standby mode when not in use, but then it takes longer to boil....catch 22.Bottom line? The product is so darn good at what it does, that we are willing to forgive the energy consumption cost.

May 31, 2017
We replaced an instant-hot appliance that we had for 20 years and it had started leaking. This appliance, throughout the day, makes a "heating/boiling sound" which we never had with the old one. The water actually is too hot, and although I've turned it down significantly the temperature doesn't seem to change. Too much trouble and expense to have someone remove it and install another brand.
This unit was relatively easy to install
March 20, 2017
Just installed this unit as a replacement to a Franke Hot Water dispenser which was fraught with problems where the dispenser hose would corrode and leak resulting in numerous replacement hosed. Finally decided to try something different. This unit was relatively easy to install. Only problem for me was the 1 1/2 inch cut out in my stone counter top was too tight for the sleeve, so I had to sand down the sleeve threads a little before installing the dispenser. The unit does not come with the required copper compression nut so plan on having one handy. The dispenser fixture is functional but not nearly as elegant as the Franke goose neck unit. One other item I noticed was that the heating unit is louder than the Franke. You can actually hear it when it's heating water in the tank. The Franke was silent. Factor in the costs of this unit over the Franke and the InSinkErator is hands down a better deal.

Beware changing dispensers
May 5, 2015
This is important if you are replacing the older twist knob dispenser with the lever design. First let me say that the hot water dispenser must be a great addition to any home for why else would this be the third one in the last 8 years. If you read other reviews you see that almost all reviews were written by repeat customers. You may see reviews complaining about going to the hardware store to get some minor fitting and like myself you think “Thanks I was probably going there anyway; no problem” however when I googled “enlarge hole in granite countertop” I only found other insinkerator customers who had purchased replacement units and switched the style of countertop dispenser and a couple of people who had bought some Kohler monster that required a 2 inch hole. The problem is that the newer, snazzy, and arthritis friendly dispenser with the curved neck requires a whole that is 1 ½ inches while the one you may be replacing is 1 ¼ inches. After searching for solutions to boring a new hole in granite I made a template with a 1 ½ inch hole with ¾ inch plywood. Important to note is the advice on the net to firmly clamp the template to the counter. To avoid the hole saw from skittering across the countertop due to a poorly secured template you should brace it from both sides and the front. If you don’t you will need to fill in the scar as I did; I used a furniture finishing product known as a burn in stick (Amazon has them). If you decide to go this route go to [...]So another trip to Amazon to find an 1 ½ “ diamond core hole saw and arbor for just under $35 (I went for the Concord Blades CBGW01500SP plus the necessary arbor to fit my hand drill (Toolocity cbadptr_0038 Adapter for Core Bits-5/8-Inch-11 to 3/8-Inch Triangle Shank). Remember the “just under $35”? Now I am off to find something else for my shopping cart to make up $0.44 so I can get the free shipping…It would have been helpful if Amazon had just said, “People who bought this also bought the diamond coring bit and arbor”
Worthless at first, but Recovering
March 21, 2015
Unit was DOA on arrival from Amazon. Even after confirming that the tank was plugged into a working outlet, the unit did not raise the temperature of the dispensed water at all, over several hours of wait time. A power-on indicator light on the unit would be more helpful. Disappointed further by Insinkerator warranty replacement response that new unit would not be eligible for self-install replacement should it fail within its warranty period - the only option then would be a charged service call to replace it. UPDATE: Heating unit kicked on after a wait period of 7 hours, and appears to be operating as advertised over the last 12 hours. Upgrading to 2 stars. UPDATE: Unit has been operating correctly for several days. Upgraded to 3 stars.

It heats water well. But note this. When full, it takes 40 minutes to boil. Then it takes another 4 hours to drop back down to the lowest temperature. Not made for personal use.
Pluses and minuses
May 26, 2015
Well, it does work but you have to undersm8.tand it may be an inconvenience also. If you don't want to have it on all the time then every time you want to use it you have to wmzait 20 to 30 minutes for it to get to the right temperature and I have used other kettlesthat will work much faster to boil water eventhough not at the exact temperature needed for tea. But if you know guests are coming overy hot water can be handy for alot of people. It depends how you use it.
Rust around the heating element >:-(
October 22, 2013
After looking through 16 pages of prior Amazon reviews (and it sounds like a lame thing to do, but I was curious), it would seem that I'm the only product user that experienced a rust issue with this water boiler. Frankly, I don't believe I'm the only person, just the only one who has reported it.I've owned this water boiler since October, 2011--just a few days short of 2 years. Yes I've enjoyed the features for similar reasons as other buyers.Last month, I noticed a bit of off-color 'sediment' around the heating element and cleaned it very well. Since my home has a water softener and double-filtered water, I thought it was a weird occurence. I'd since refilled my Zoji at least 3 times afterward. Today I went to clean and re-fill it, but found that there were a LOT of reddish brown spots circling the heating element at the bottom of the boiler. No doubt about it, it's RUST, and it grossed me out. They were not superficial stains and they couldn't be scrubbed off. Zoji's website states there is only a 1 year warranty. I would have rated it 5 stars, however it let me down less than 1 year after the standard warranty. It served me well while it lasted.I use other Zoji products with product satisfaction. My friend has a Zoji model more than 10 years old with no problems. So, either mine is the odd-ball, or this relatively newer version is meant to be replaced every couple of years. I thought it would last longer.I'll go back to using my tea kettle while I ponder whether I want to buy a replacement and an extended warranty.

Own this for less than 2 days and don't like it. The material seems a little cheaply made for the price. The outside of the boiler got very hot and is a safety concern for us especially with little kids around the house. It could be a defective unit but we never had this issue with Tiger. We own two Tiger boilers and figured would buy this for the parents since they drink a lot of hot water/tea, etc. And thought it would be good for the price- well, thought wrong. We are exchanging this one with Tiger today.
Worked but there is design defect
April 20, 2013
I used it for one year. It worked well. However, after that it suddenly stopped heating though electronics seemed still working. I opened it and found the relay failed. I could not buy the same relay because it might be discontinued. I could only buy one with a letter missing (meaning not surface mount). I tried to open the relay to see if it could be fixed. It was not fixable because the elastic copper/phosphorous band lost elasticity after over heating. The manufacturer should have used a relay with higher rating. I ordered the one similar (missing one letter) and managed to squeeze the part into the limited space. Now it is working again. Hopefully it will last longer because the contact rating is higher. I hope the company will use my advice to change their design and make the product lasting longer.

Faucet odd size for opening in sink?
November 28, 2016
The faucet wouldn't fit through the hole in our sink. We ended up using the tank with the old faucet. Will be replacing the sink so saved the faucet in case it fits the next sink!
BAD FAUCET/HANDLE
February 19, 2016
Loved the instant hot water!!! This product was delivered Jan 20th - today is Feb 19th. Hubby installed it a few days after receiving and it worked awesome--until today. It's only my husband and myself using this item, great for hot tea, but today the handle broke on the faucet. Can turn on the Hot Water, but the handle grinds and clicks, and is loosening on the faucet. Maybe just luck of the draw??? Will need a new faucet!! Hope we get a replacement before we have to take this one off...btw, faucet was the hardest part of the install....everything else was jelly.
Missing Parts
January 26, 2016
We replaced an Insinkerator hot water dispenser (Contour model) because the seal failed after less than 3 years. This time we decided on the H-Wave model as the stainless steel finish matches our new kitchen faucet. When we opened the packaging, we noticed that the "provided" brass nut and ferrule were missing. They were not "supplied" as indicated in the installation instructions. Nothing worse than having to make a trip to the hardware store before we could even begin the installation. We also noticed that the electric cord is shorter than on our previous model, which was not a real problem, but the copper water line on this unit was also shorter and we were barely able to make the connection to the water supply line. . We love having instant hot water at the sink, but will probably not buy from Insinkerator again. Quality control seems sadly lacking. I'm only hoping we can get a full 3 years out of this one before it fails. There must be something better out there, and next time we will research our purchase more thoroughly.
Installation Nightmare
May 19, 2014
1) Box & directions state that it will fit a 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" Sink Hole. Not True. Threaded faucet shaft is 1.41" OD. Had to enlarge hole in sink.2) Provided steel backing washer to be installed between bottom of sink/counter and nut was 1.375" ID. Included Paper washer fit fine.3) Short 1/4" copper lead for hooking to water source. Required buying additional tubing to get to water supply and several expensive brass fittings.I will post back after I have used it a while. So far it is making hot water, but if I turn it up too high it sputters and spurts for a while on its own.
I DON'T LIKE IT
October 7, 2013
the hot water comes out in a trickle, TAKES ENTIRELY TOO LONG TO FILL AN 8 OZ CUP! Very disappointing. Water could be hotter.

If you like to have rusty water
December 24, 2015
Very disappointed with this product.I ordered my first boiler and the metal filter inside the water tank got rusted within a month. I had my doubt but still want to believe in the brand. So I only requested a replacement from amazon, hoping mine was just a single case. After one month, the same thing happened to my second boiler and the water tasted ugh. Very disappointed and will not purchase it again.

I brought this water heater, and used for couple of month before I write any reviews, the idea of the product is Great! I love when I need hot water I can get it easily, but this one rust! it rusted on the bottom of the tank, so I don't think it is safe for ppl to drink. if it doesnot rust I think it is Great product.
broke too soon

This water boiler is great while it works but it only worked for 8 months! I have to say that I am very disappointed that I didn't even get a whole 12 months use out of it. Sorry, this is not worth the money I spent and will not buy this again.

Bad Temperatures
May 12, 2014
I researched this and it had excellent reviews but the temperatures were totally inaccurate. It wouldn't reach the temperatures set or hold them. This model is their one model made in China. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Very low water flow.
November 17, 2016
I installed first one. No volume at the faucet. 30 seconds to fill less than a cup. Recheck water pressure and flow all perfect. Direct from the line I fill the same amount in 5.35 seconds. Called company. They said defective unit get a replacement. Replacement unit does the same crap.Do not buy this junk. It heats great but restricts the water flow to the point of being worthless. If you look on tank water inlet side you can see why it is so slow.1/4 line feeding in for water then they orifice it down to a minuscule hole. So, of course, you will have no volume and flow at the faucet.
Burn hazard... Starts sputtering and spewing hot water after a few months

Bad InsinkErator customer service led us to a better quality and less expensive product
November 30, 2014
We received the product with a small part missing inside the box and called their customer service to avoid returning it to Amazon. It clearly said in the manual that the part would come with the product, but their customer service told us that the version we bought didn't, but later admitted that she would have the parts to send. Generously, I stopped at Home Depot to look for it, but couldn't find so returned it. I bought a competing product for about half the price with better quality. I hope InSinkErator gets this message. You have a job cut out for you - improve your customer service and make your product price competitive - your brand isn't holding up.
POOR QUALITY 3 in nine months they want endless replacements
May 19, 2013
I'M ON WELL WATER (SLIGHTLY ACIDIC). I HAD A COPPER TANK FROM HOME DEPOT WICH RAN WELL FOR 3 YEARS. IT CORRODED OUT SO WE DECIDED THOUGH MORE COSTLY A STAINLESS SYSTEM WAS BEST FOR OUR HOME.IT DIDNT LAST 4 MONTHS. I NEVER SENT IN THE WARRENTE CARD FIGURING IT SHOULD MAKE IT PAST ONE YEAR. SO HAVING A STRONG ENGINEERING BACKGROUND LETS TAKE IT APART AND FIGURE OUT WHAT WENT WRONG. WELL I COULD SEE THE THE POOR CHOICE OF INTERNAL PLUMBING MATERIAL ANOTHER CUSTOMER WARNED OF. BUT THE SHOCKER WAS THE RUSTED PARTS. YES RUSTED STAINLESS STEEL THE HEATER CORE WAS RUSTED AT A SOLDER /BRAISE TO ITS MOUNT AND THE TANK IS STARTING TO RUST AT THE TOP. YES THE TOP AWAY FROM WHERE ANY SEDIMENT COULD COLLECT. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE PRODUCT ASSEMBLED WITH POOR GRADE MATERIAL. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER (very nice people) AND JUST WENT THREW MY THIRD WATER HEATER IN 9 MONTHS. I JUST WANT MY MONEY BACK. ALL THEY WANT IS TO SEND ANOTHER PLUMBER WITH ANOTHER PRODUCT THAT WONT LAST.
Designed to fail in a few years
January 15, 2012
First of all, I find having the instant hot water to be great. You get used to the convenience of having it. So much so, that when our older tank started leaking, we decided to replace it.This unit looks good, the valve and spigot seem to work fine. Installation was pretty easy. So, it would get 5 stars from me if this one was the first one I had.HOWEVER, this is the THIRD one in about 10 years. The first one was an earlier InSinkErator model and failed after 3 or 4 years. (I forget what the failure was). So, since the spigot was still good, and InSinkErator had a new stainless steel tank heater, we replaced the tank. It was the same model as this unit. We installed it in 2007. It worked fine until a few weeks ago. Got up one morning and the floor was all wet, and inside the cabinet was wetter. The leak was coming from inside the heater tank unit. (Fortunately, we got it cleaned up before the laminate floor was damaged)I did some searching and all the other models had similar (or worse) reviews.. convenient, but lots of failures. So, we decided to stick with InSinkErator. And, since we had changed the faucet on that sink last year, we got this unit with a spigot that (sort of) matches the new faucet. Amazon delivered it promptly, installation was pretty easy (well as easy as any plumbing that involves crawling under the sink!). The "feel" of this valve is nicer than the old unit we had.Once I got it all installed and working, I had the old, leaky tank sitting in front of me. I am an engineer. I design and build things.. and I have ALWAYS wanted to take apart things to see how they work (or don't work). This tank was about to go in the trash anyway, so I could take it apart with no worries about it maybe not going back together again. So, I did. A couple of screws, push and pry in a few spots and the case opened up. It turns out that the leak was in a plastic tube that was in direct contact with the stainless steel tank. I don't know the exact kind of plastic, but it was NOT a type for high temperatures. The tube had aged, turned brown, gotten brittle and cracked where it was in contact with the hot metal tank. This tube MIGHT have cost ten cents. They could just as well have used tube made from a better plastic or rearranged things a bit so the low temperature tube was not in contact with 190 deg F metal. It MIGHT have cost them 10 cents more. So, they saved 10 cents, but the result was this thing leaked after 4 years. I had to spend $200 to replace it, and if we had not caught it when we did, we might have had to spend a LOT more to repair or replace the kitchen floor.Actually, looking at other reviewers here on Amazon who had these fail just after the 3 year warranty expired, maybe they intended this to happen. And, maybe the new one I just bought has better tubing. (I did not open it up to look). They did change some of what were copper pipes to plastic tubes on the rest of the system.Anyway, these are nice to have. In spite of the problems, I got yet another one. But we warned, they seem to fail right after the warranty expires. And, based on prior experience, this time I installed the unit with a FloodStop leak sensing automatic cutoff valve FloodStop for Sinks Lead Free Water Valve FS3/8-CD. They seem to work fine, and will beep and shut off the water if this tank (or anything else under the sink) starts leaking. One final thing, I said they failed in 3 or 4 years, but two of them lasted 10 years. The reason was that for a couple years we had a relative with dementia living with us. She could not understand that the little spigot was scalding hot water and would try to use it for washing dishes or her hands. So, for that time we had it turned off. The valve handle is pretty hard to activate, so kids small enough to not understand about it probably could not turn it on, but you do NOT want this if you have an adult in the house who cannot understand that its not "normal" hot water.

November 21, 2016
I had an older Zojirushi and lasted me well over 5 years before it started rusting away. I bought this model to replace that old one. in less than a year, the bottom rusted already. They said I didn't maintain it well enough. I didn't do alot of cleaning for my older one and it was fine. They told me that they will replace the inner lining for me. but it's not covered in the warranty. what a joke! For a well named brand... this is really a big joke!... I would not recommend this at all.. where was the quality and excellent customer service that once upon a time they had?
Rust in few months. make sure to toss away metal filter asap
January 23, 2016
Started rusting 4 months into it. I didnt want to toss it away since it was expensive. I am now 8 months into it and I decided to toss it away.I think it started with the non stainless steel filter at the bottom of the boiler. I tossed the filter away then cleaned it with citric acid(rust could not be completely removed). I clean it pretty often but the rust never disappeared. I noticed rust behind the lid as well when I was doing a throughout cleaning. I am going to toss it away. I am never buying this again. If you decide to buy this, make sure to toss away the metal filter first.
This Thing RUSTS relentlessly.

This boiler rusts. I use brita on all my drinking water. Anything enter this boiler is filtered. It rusted and Zojirushi replaced the liner for me. And guess what. After a mere few weeks, it rusted again. Lives in a metropolitan city with one of the best water source in the whole US. Unbelievable. Buying panasonic from now on.

Another dud I got from Big Z
June 5, 2014
Zojirushi used to be great brand from Japan ... until it decides to increase profit margin by having its 'export' version made in China. My old Zojirushi (made in Japan) last 10+ years - replaced only when the interior got corroded badly while the seal was cracked substantially. Even at that beat up stage, the old unit still boiled water perfectly the way it should be, albeit noisy with considerable mineral debris. This brand new one - made in China - last merely hours in my home. The water never boiled. I tried 3-4 cycles. Same thing. The water at the 195 setting only measured 150 using my thermometer. Very surprised. I read the manual which mentioned the 'steam reduction' feature. Yet, the 'hot' water from this unit didn't prep my tea bags nor instant noodle cups right. Obviously a lemon.I returned it for a Tiger which is made in Japan and worked perfect out of the box.
Rust on lid within 2 months and horrible customer service!!! DO NOT BUY!!!
April 6, 2014
We purchased Zojirushi CD-WBC30 Micom Electric 3-Liter Water Boiler and Warmer, Champagne Gold at 12/2013. Now we found the cover is showing rust on several spots of the stainless steel part. The Zojirushi customer service is really not helpful and very rude. They did not read my claim and thought the rust is on the coated container. They first told us to follow the instruction manual to clean the liner. After we explained the rusted spots are on the stainless part of the lid, they simply told us the rust is not harmful to body and we should live with it or pay another $26 to buy a new lid!Rust on stainless part within 2 months of use is absolutely a defect of product. Zojirushi just refused to cover this with warranty and their customer service is NOT helpful at all.Considering all the positive reviews, we paid high price for expectation of high quality product. We definitely will NOT recommend any friend to buy this product and also stay away from Zojirushi products considering their non-existing customer service.
