One night last month when I was ill my brother came over and cooked for me. He was going to light up the grill to grill swordfish and veggies. I told him to grab this pan and try it out. He did - dinner was great. He loved the pan and said he should get himself one. So I got him this one for Christmas. He was very happy with the choice. Love! December 18, 2016 Love love love! Easy clean up. I don't cook with oils and my food doesn't stick. I do use a bit of veggie broth. I only do fruits and vegetables. I also use this on a glass top stove with no problems. The handle stays perfectly cool to the touch the whole time. And, you could easily clean this with a paper towel if you wanted but we stick it in the dishwasher. It's outstanding! THE BEST!!!!!! I like that they are nice and stiff for cleaning even the tough grilling residue after charring my steaks. I've used these scrapers to clean between the groves after cooking juicy hamburgers, rib-eye steaks, grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, and chicken thighs so far. These nifty scrapers clean the groves without harming my cured cast iron surface. Not only are these scrappers effective cleaning tools, they are also properly designed to fit most any hand I would think. Anytime I order Lodge products they are delivered here at my doorstep ahead of schedule often times. But never late. Great product, great seller with good customer service by the fast delivery. However I've found I love these on my stainless pans too! We scramble a lot of eggs and no matter what I do I can't get through making eggs without a stuck on mess. I HATE doing dishes and HATE hearing scraping on my stainless pans. The plain/rounded edge does an awesome job peeling up that stuck on egg so I can put my pan in the dishwasher with no worries. Four Star Reviews: | 12% everything always cooks great. So July 29, 2017 This has completely changed the way I cook. I grill at least 2 or 3 times per week now, which I never thought was possible since I have no outdoor space in my apt. My only issue is that the base doesn't seem to lay flat. I imagine this is by design to distribute heat, but I still find it odd. That being said, everything always cooks great. So, maybe it's all in my head. I recently purchased a second one for my Mom. The only negative I have found is the grill marks are not as defined on my meat as I would like. It cooks a hamburger, steak and pork chop really well. These were fairly inexpensive, but nice quality. My only complaint is that the 'tongues' don't really fit the 'grooves' of my griddler plates... the big side is too big, the small side is too small, so it really only cleans about 2/3 of the width of the grooves. This definitely isn't a flaw in the product, but I wish they had made the 2nd one slightly different to accommodate other pans/plates - instead they are both exactly the same. I don't really need two that are exactly the same. GREAT Grill Pan Scraper! October 4, 2013 Great! has 2 different widths so fits different grill pans with different width and depth of ridges. It doesn't hurt teflon or ceramic grill pan surfaces, and is wonderful on cast iron. Just wish it had a longer profile or handle so I don't get my fingers so close to the hot grilled veggies and hot pan surface, but it's totally workable if I just pay attention so as not to burn a finger. Just Okay June 14, 2017 The little nibs do not reach the bottom of the grill pan - they are helpful to get the sides of the ridges, but I still have to scrub with a brush to get the bottom. They do what they're meant to do, but I can't say I would buy these again. I can find about anything I already own to do the same job as these. August 21, 2016 This scraper is the "crucial" companion to your cast iron cookware as they'd like you to believe. It does what they say it does, for the most part.The reason I purchased this in particular was to scrape out gunk from between the raised parts of my two grill pans. Unfortunately the tines that are designed specifically for this purpose are not long enough to effectively remove gunk from inside the pan. The only way for it to reach the bottom of the pan is to hold the scraper perpendicular to the pan, which is an incredibly awkward angle to try and scrape.This is a decent product, but I feel there are better alternatives on the market. Two Star Reviews: | 2% Not a fan. May 24, 2017 The reason I did not like this pan is because it is not heavy gaged enough to cook anything on medium or higher heat. If you attempt to cook something on a higher heart the pan warps and is no longer level on the burner resulting in uneven cooking. I would not recommend any Calphalon Contemporary pans but instead purchase from the Calphalon Unison line. To me cookware is an investment and I want to get the most life out of a product. I ended up giving this one away only after a few months of owning it. Got a used pan February 2, 2017 Return it before give it a try. I got the pan that seems like it've been used. Feel bad about this, Not supposed to happen with Calphalon. Buyer Beware Not for Glasstop Range September 30, 2016 I have a new Samsung electric range with smooth glasstop. I was originally going to purchase a grill pan in stainless steel for double the cost of this one and now I am very sorry I didn't. I have had bad experiences with anodized aluminum cookware on this range top so I was hesitant but after reading some peoples reviews and Calphalon saying it was ok to use on glasstop I bought it. First use the pan warped albeit maybe not as bad as others I have had but it did. It is essential that the pan stay flat for proper heating and cooking. I only had the heat on medium since I was aware of this problem on ceramic or glasstop stoves.I'll give it a few more shots but I doubt it will matter. On a side note pan came adequately boxed in original carton inside an amazon box so it was not damaged in transit and it arrived on time on prime shipping. Not stick coating wears off quickly making it useless after a few months. January 19, 2016 When I first got it, nothing would stick to it and I'll admit I was very impressed.... BUT after only 5 months of light-moderate use (1-2 times a week) the non stick coating is no longer doing its job. Now this thing is like a grease magnet and impossible to clean, especially since you can't scrub it like you can with stainless steel. I take very good care of all my cookware and only have ever washed this pan with mild dish soap and a sponge. I never even put it in the dishwasher except for at the very end when the coating was already worn off, just to see if the dishwasher would actually be able to clean it.Not sure how this got such good reviews... maybe lots of people just used it once or twice put up their reviews based on the performance when the coating was brand new. Anyway, I'll be tossing this in the trash and replacing it with a cast iron grill pan. They are a little heavy but I'd rather have something actually gets better with age than worse. White discoloration November 14, 2015 Bottom immediately became discolored by the gas flames. Never experienced this before. Bought from Mayfair but replaced by Calphalon and it happened again. Actually, with three Calphalon pieces! Buy Analon, they look very similar and lasted forever for me. Not so hot August 24, 2015 I purchased this grill pan because my current grill pan isn't dishwasher-friendly. Unfortunately, there are features the first pan has that this one doesn't. Probably the biggest differences are the height of the ridges and a slight slope to drain away the fat. Cooking hamburgers on this Calphalon isn't that much different than in a regular pan; the burger just sits in it's fat instead of sitting on top of the ridges while the fat drains away. Other differences include a "helper handle" and a slight pour spout on my older grill pan. I'm thinking of pitching the Calphalon because of space issues and I've already got plenty of frying pans. | 6% I am not impressed with this item. June 16, 2017 I am not impressed with this item. Although this is a sturdy product, I am not happy with the way it scrapes and I feel it very much needs improvement. Hard to hold and use. a $.99 steel wool scrubber does a better job December 13, 2016 With all the good reviews, it should be very good.As a test, fry a steak in a lodge cast iron pan, then try to scrape off the residue with the Lodge scrapper. It did not clean good. After multiple running in warm water, heating up the pan again, etc. The scrapper still did not do a good job. Got mad and just use a steel wool scrubber, which did the job. They aren't sturdy enough to get the really tough stuff off July 30, 2016 These don't seem to do the trick. They didn't seem to fit exactly between the grill sections, and you're supposed to use them when the grill is still slightly warm,so they partially melted. I'll just scrape the grill down with a metal spatula like I have before. January 16, 2014 My husband ordered this pan for me for Christmas and it did come in a Calphalon box but I don't believe the pan is real Calphalon it feels very cheap and there are no markings on the pan what so ever I have real Calphalon pans that are marked and this pan looks and feels nothing like the real one!! Not a grill pan! March 14, 2012 Do not buy this pan! It arrived yesterday (overnight shipping), opened it and washed it so I could do thick pork chops for dinner! First, I noticed the bottom inside (grill area) was ALMOST FLAT! I proceeded with the chops and the entire surfaced of the meat cooked. NO GRILL MARKS!Be happy and look at something different. Trust me, this is not a grill pan!I will give this to my neighbor to use on his outdoor camping trips. I guess all is not lost..At least for him! Terrible... Learn From My Lesson December 9, 2010 my initial impression was that this item would be similar in quality to a Calphalon round grill pan I spotted at Williams-Sonoma for less money..... Wrong. after after putting to a kitchen test, my preference was to rate it a 1/2 star, but because the item met it core requirement and heated the food I suppose one star is fair. in short,, good on concept, but faired poorly on execution. the pan does not heat evenly, and the raised ribs do a poor job of creating the grill marks this item was purchased for. back to heat distribution for a moment... because its does a poor job of that, its performance under high flame temperature is equally as bad. any decent kitchen hobbyist knows high temperature with even heat distribution equals shorter efficient cooking times and and ideal food preparation.bottom line...this item is cheap in price and quality. in fact this grill pan falls in what I call Calphalons 'thrifty' product group. into their "Contemporary" line of cookware. a step above the anodized aluminum IKEA cook ware but well down the ladder of high grade home cookware. Comparing this grill pan to Calphalons Unison Sear Non Stick 12" was no contest. the Unison Sear Non Stick was a dream to work with. I'm new to cast iron and thought I needed these and one of those chainmail scrubber things to deal with the painful downside of cast iron - cleaning it after use, WRONG. The ABSOLUTE BEST way to clean any cast iron pan is a cheap box of salt, some warm water, and a rag or a couple paper towels, oh, and time and elbow grease and a growing appreciation for the classic functionality and cooking forgiveness of cast iron. Pour in a small pile of salt, a splash or water to keep it together and in the pan, and start rubbing away the crud like magic, then rinse it out, maybe repeat if needed, heat it on the oven for a couple minutes to dry, wipe on some olive oil, and done. These things? Completely unnecessary and useless compared to the salt scrub method. No they don't fit the grill pan grates, they don't remove stuck on crud without sending it flying across the kitchen and landing who knows where, and they are less than worthless after using the salt scrub method with ease. Not compatible with Vremi skillet is was grouped with as "frequently bought together".
