Five Star Reviews: | 42% This little guy really works very good. Takes a little getting used to on how ... January 31, 2016 This little guy really works very good. Takes a little getting used to on how to grasp best, but does a nice job in scoring the rind. Great lil gadget March 28, 2014 I hate buying gadgets that end up never being used and abandoned at the back of kitchen drawers never to be used. Not this lil gem, its great for peeling oranges as the mini blade only pierces the peel not the flesh AND you can even use the flared edges to pry the peel off after you score it w the blade. Love it!! I just keep it next to the oranges/mandarins so its at hand whenever you want a quick and healthy snack. Works great-but pricey March 17, 2014 I have one of these I bought from walmart years ago and only paid about $2 for it. This is the same exact one and I cannot find them anywhere else. My parents were wanting one so I went ahead and ordered it. It works great and is a really good product but the price is so steep! Works great January 7, 2014 With an orange tree in the back yard, we have so many oranges to peel and eat every winter. This makes it so easy to peel. I just pull it all the way down and around the orange in a few different areas and the peel comes off so fast! Makes peeling citrus very easy. January 30, 2013 I've been using this for about 2 months now and I love it. Does a great job and makes it much easier to peel lemons, oranges & grapefruits. Fits in my hand (large, male) hand well. It has reduced my peeling time in half, and I don't get the peel under my nails now.UPDATE - Still sharp and working great now after 4+ months Searched forever May 24, 2010 I have an orange peeler like this that I've had for several years. This sytle of orange peeler is rounded so that it is comfortable to use no matter how tough the skin is.When I started searching for one to leave at work, I was surprised that I couldn't find one anywhere. Finally I searched on Amazon and am very happy with it. | 62% Great Orange Peeler! July 16, 2017 Super helpful to score oranges to make it easier to peel. I am a teacher and we serve breakfast in the classroom. I dread the days we get a whole orange and first grade students have to peel it on their own. I purchased these to help score the skin for the kids. The peelers are easy to use and easy to clean! really love these! June 11, 2017 I used to use the other style of orange peeler for decades. the kind that you are supposed to use for zesting and other stuff. these are so much better. just slip it onto a finger or thumb (the discussion about how to use them is very entertaining) the first set I got had 1 that was distorted and not useable. but they are so great I didn't take any stars off for it. also the price is so low I didn't care. am reordering 2 more sets, so I can have them on hand ... and besides, the kids take them home when they come and visit. these are a wonderful little add on to tuck in a fruit gift. or to have tucked away in the car for trips. Easier orange peeling! November 3, 2016 My husband will not peel an orange without one of these!! These are great and really help make orange peeling easier. The sharp spike at the end pierces the flesh of the orange and scores the peel making it easier to peel off. Your finger goes into the hole for easier maneuvering. Pros... Strong plastic Helps peel orange easier Cons... None! The breakdown on how I determine my star rating of a product… 5 stars – I love it! It is awesome and I highly recommend that everyone purchase this product! 4 stars – I like it, but there are some flaws. Not everything can be perfect! I would purchase again. 3 stars – It was okay, but I would probably not buy it again unless I had no other choices. 2 stars – There may be worse products out there, but you can definitely find better choices. 1 star – I dislike the product, I wish I had not purchased it and do not recommend anyone else to purchase it. If my review helped please take a second and click that it was helpful below. My goal is to highlight features and drawbacks that I would want to know about as a buyer. My remarks are sincere and true. I hope that these reviews are helpful to others. Once again, it is just my own opinion and experience with the product, your own opinion and experience may vary. easy to use July 18, 2016 I ordered the 4 Round Orange (Citrus Fruit) Peelers not really knowing what to expect. And I’ve been laughing at myself ever since. First, I received 4 orange peelers. When I first opened the package, I thought there had to be some kind of mistake. These things are tiny. But then I realized that my visualization of the product and the actual product are worlds apart. Second, this is a great little tool. Once I realized that this tiny little tool would save me from that yulky feel when first starting an orange peel, I was sold. I absolutely hate that first dig in to get an orange peeling. Also, I have thin weak nails which doesn’t help. So, does this tool do what it says it does? Absolutely. Is it what I had pictured in size? Nope. But I’m sold. This product was provided for free in exchange for my honest review. The views are 100% my own Absolutely Pefect April 22, 2015 I can honestly say that, when my girlfriend first showed me this item I laughed. I laughed a lot. I figured, who in the world could possibly need an item to make peeling an orange easier? Even for a chronic nail-biter like myself, would a knife not work? If you like to eat an orange on occasion, just buy these. I don't think they could possibly cost less and they actually do the job they were designed for. The cutting implement is the perfect depth, it cuts through the peel incredibly easily and leaves the fruit completely untouched. As a bonus, I've started slicing the peel North to South, taking one half of the peel off and using it as a bowl to collect the scraps. This is probably more information than is necessary for such a small item, but I believe that something designed to do one job should do that one job perfectly. Unlike the vast majority however, this one actually lives up to that expectation. | 61% Welcome home ~ Orange Peeler July 14, 2016 The price was unbelievably inexpensive. It arrived approximately one month after ordering. When it did arrive one peeler was broken. OMG! A little bubble wrap might have helped to keep them safe. I'm not a quitter though. Still embracing my positive persona. I washed the peeler and handled the peeler as if it were the jewel from the Titanic. I steadied myself with plump orange in hand, ready to peel the luscious fruit of my hard earned labor and what happened next...was just short of miraculous. As a single tear streamed down my cheek... I effortlessly peeled until the juices were welcomed with awe and satisfaction. Channeled my inner Rafiki, holding my wee Simba orange above my head as I chanted, hakuna matata & danced in the street. Yes, orange peeler you've found your home. These things worked great on peeling oranges December 10, 2015 These things worked great on peeling oranges. I was expecting much for the price, but they work as well as some higher priced peelers (Pampered Chef) I've used in the past. Perfect for the fingernail-less male September 13, 2014 For the picky male, who has no fingernails and prefers not to get his fingers sticky when pealing an orange, these peelers work! It will cut through the skin about the perfect depth every time. Going once around the orange allows you to simply peel back the skin (so it isn't 100% peeling free) and rip it off. For the purpose of peeling an orange before making a smoothie with it, you will not be disappointed. So far I am still on my first one and have been able to use it at least 20 times (no signs of wear yet). Make sure that you rinse it briefly after usage so that it doesn't start having a sticky layer like mine did, which took a couple minutes to scrape off. Easy as Peeling Bananas! June 7, 2014 I love it! I wish I had known about these sooner! This peeler makes peeling an orange as easy as peeling a banana! No more orange peel under my fingernails or breaking my nails with this new peeler! I'm eating oranges much more often now because it's so quick and clean to peel with these! It works great for peeling grapefruit too! The only time I have any problem with it is if I have an orange with a very thick peel. There's lots of different ways to peel with it. You can experiment with different ways. The easiest for me is to run the peeler from top to bottom down four sides of the orange, then pull down the peel in quarters. Crazy that this thing works! February 26, 2013 Who would have thought a little plastic thing the size of a ring could peel and orange so quickly? I love this thing! So simple yet so effective June 17, 2012 These work really great, are small and store easily, and wash really easily. I have always hated peeling oranges and would usually not eat them. With these I can peel large and small oranges without a lot of fuss. | 66% There are no reviews yet | 61% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 15% Great for those who have difficulty gripping objects February 3, 2016 Really great for those who have arthritic hands. I have CRPS and my right hand doesn't work very well, making it difficult to use a traditional citrus peeler, but this solved the problem! Works great. The only thing is my hands are a little small so it slides around on my hand. handy with only small learning curve July 18, 2013 works well after you figure out you cut in the direction that leaves the wings up and down. The ends help lift the peel. Pretty handy little device. The only to peel an orange or grapefruit! May 8, 2013 Now this is one item I was unsure about. Not because of the cost. It's cheap. But I wondered how such e thing could work. Be assured my friend, it works fantastic. Get one, you'll love it. It's Okay March 10, 2013 I think this peeler is better than the straight stick ones, but it takes some time to get used to. It helps but sometimes I can't get the rind off without using my fingers. Back to the mess. Having said that, it's still better than cutting up the orange rind then extracting the orange. clever March 1, 2013 my teenage son would not eat oranges because he bites his nails and was unable to peel them. This device has solved that proplem;) now to work on the nail bitting! | 15% Smaller than expected, but works. June 28, 2017 These are a bit smaller than I expected and they don't cut into a larger orange with ease, but it still works. I've showed them to my co-workers and they love the idea. love these May 10, 2017 Took a little while to get but I love them... They def do what they are suppose to and everyone at work asks where they can get one. Round Orange Peelers March 24, 2017 These peelers work really well at peeling oranges. Had these in the past but over time they get lost or break and need replaced. Looks are deceiving as they look like a little plastic ring but these work really well November 19, 2016 Looks are deceiving as they look like a little plastic ring but these work really well. We work in public safety and can't have knives or anything in our bags but we can throw these in our lunch bag and go. I love them and would recommend anyone getting them. Perfect February 19, 2016 I absolutely love these! I bought them because I hate getting orange peel all up in my nails when peeling an orange, This peeler eliminates that issue completely! I have had so many people ask me about it when I am at work eating my lunch. The only gripe I have with it is that I have small hands so it fits my finger well. However I know several people who have bigger hands and fingers than I, and I feel like it wont fit there hands well. | 15% Cutting blade too short April 21, 2017 Cutting blade is not long enough to cut completely through thick skinned oranges/grapefruit. You just need to figure out the best way for you to hold it February 24, 2017 They do what they are supposed to do. A little awkward the first time. You just need to figure out the best way for you to hold it. You can hold it a couple ways. Very portable to take along or send in a lunch so you can peel a fresh orange or grapefruit. Works well October 5, 2016 works as described..keeps that darn peel off hands and out of my nails. very inexpensive. very small though so easy to lose. I think they thought of that cause they send two in a package We love it! May 11, 2016 We eat alot of oranges and citrus. This is a safe alternative for kids. We love it! | 15% There are no reviews yet | 14% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 16% Not as easy to use as the pencil type for getting under ... March 31, 2016 Not as easy to use as the pencil type for getting under the skins, but it does work as a cutter. Works OK but may as well just use a knife February 25, 2014 I was honestly hoping for better. I lost a smaller sized and cheaper tool that I bought at an orange stand in Florida. This one has a much bigger and more comfortable finger hole but it's too big for me. The piece that extends to cut into the rind seems too shallow and it's very hard to peel the orange skin off after you dice it. I miss my old 50 cent peeler. Citrus peeler February 25, 2013 I like it. It's great for peeling but awkward to use to remove the peel. My thumb barely fits in the hole so if you have stubby thumbs or big knuckles, try another option. Great, if you have tiny hands February 20, 2013 This peeler will only fit on my pinky and ring finger, which is bad if you are already wearing a ring on that finger. However, if you can get it on your hand it does an admirable job cutting the skin of an orange. I think you are better off with the old knitting needle design. Wish the rind removing part worked better January 18, 2013 Got it fast and easy but was not exactly what i had hoped for. The cutting part worked well but the sides that are supposed to assist in removing the rind just didn't work for me and I was peeling a tangelo which are fairly easy!Mine came in red | 10% Three Stars June 16, 2017 I like the peelers of a different company better. Theirs are a little larger and easier to use. They work well. A little flimsier than others of ... May 28, 2017 They work well. A little flimsier than others of exact same shape--thinner plastic. For the money, very worth it compared to others that I saw. Okay for the money March 4, 2017 These get the job done but they are very cheaply made. I couldn't find the brand I had previously purchased so I got these. They work well enough but I would not repurchase them. I wasn't impressed. April 11, 2015 I didn't realize this was an overseas company and it took forever to actually receive these .That being said they do work decent . They are sturdy enough but it really depends on the fruit you have and how thick the rind is . If it's too thick they get stuck. Eh I could take it or leave it . Great concept poor execution. | 10% Not as pictured February 12, 2017 Advertised as set of 2. Expected 2 to be same. 1 was as pictured, other was not a complete ring for finger but rather about 1/3 ring on each side with open center - very awkward & unable to use. Initially, I thought 1 was broken until better inspection. Took nearly 6 weeks to arrive from China. small but works December 30, 2016 I don't know who's finger is supposed to fit in that circle, but mine isn't even close! That being said, hold it differently and it works very well. They work, Quite a bit smaller than I thought ... February 24, 2016 They work, Quite a bit smaller than I thought they would be. Also VERY cheaply made, You can probably find them at the flea market or dollar store for way, way less money. Meh July 27, 2015 thought it would be a lot better than it was. Used it a few times and then it got tossed into the junk drawer never to be seen again lol. | 8% There are no reviews yet | 14% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 13% Wish I got the long one instead. July 27, 2017 Not that good actually, and hard to clean well in the front. Not worth it. July 15, 2016 Not worth it. I hate getting the peeling process started on oranges and thought this would help. It doesn't do anything a fork or knife couldn't do. It doesn't cut deep enough to get a good peeling started. My nails do a better job. I have had much better orange peelers before July 7, 2014 This slices your orange with ease, but the lips that is for peeling does not work very well. I have had much better orange peelers before. If you don't mind tearing your orange apart with your hands, then get this to slice the peel. ends don't peel April 15, 2014 The large size circular holder is handy. The sharp nib on the underside works well enough. But the two ends of the device don't push up the orange peel enough to enable peeling an orange. I had to use my fingernal -- and if I wanted to use my fingernail, I'd just score the orange with a small knife and use my fingernail to get the peel off. The smaller (and far less costly) orange peelers do peel up the edge where the peel is scored, avoiding the need to use a fingernail. I will probably file an edge of this thing down, so it actually is useful. They shoulda thought of that when they designed this. No user testing, eh? Don't bother.... June 20, 2013 I really needed something to peel oranges, my nails just aren't strong enough and it hurts the arthritis in my hands. I thought this might work, worth a try.Well, it didn't. I barely pierces the skin (and yes, I removed the tape covering it) and if you can manage to pull hard enough without squeezing the orange to death, you might pull back a little tab of peel. No way does it score the peel to make it easy to pull off. don't buy this March 8, 2013 A very poor quality citrus peeler. The blade (if you can even call it that) is very poorly made and broke within 15 uses. Also, this product is difficult to manipulate, and barely cuts through the pith on any type of organic citrus (I tried oranges & grapefruits). You are way better off buying one of those cheap plastic peelers. | 5% The tooth is very small. July 6, 2017 These orange peelers have a very tiny tooth; it doesn't dig into the orange far enough to be useful. My old one has a tooth that is twice as deep, and it worked much better. This product sort of does what it says it will ... June 7, 2017 This product sort of does what it says it will. It still makes peeling an orange messy, which was what I had hoped to avoid. Not well peeled July 31, 2016 I purchased these as I had used these in the past and they were good for peeling oranges. Although these look exactly like what I had before, they do not pierce the skin of the orange deeply enough to be able to take the skin off. Ended up having to use a knife. I bought three different kinds of peelers at Amazon, but none performed as well as ones made in years past due to the shallow cutting point not making it through the orange skins. Different style came, not sure I like the new style, old one in picture works better. May 6, 2014 A different style was sent, not sure I like the new style, old one in picture works better, but they will do for now. Prefer to get what is pictured in a post. | 6% Blade is short and barely cuts through more than a ... June 10, 2017 Blade is short and barely cuts through more than a mandarine orange. Got them for the child in hope it would assist him with making his own snacks, but it barely slices the skin on anything larger than a 2in or so orange. Two Stars April 11, 2017 Very thin and not a really good quality. Very slow delivery because it shipped from an Asian country. okay not great January 9, 2016 cuts the peel okay but the plastic is not tough enough to raise the peel after it is scored. | 5% There are no reviews yet | 3% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 14% Not worth the price..... December 31, 2016 I bought this orange peeler because I have arthritis and it makes it hard to peel them with my hands. I had the long slender orange ones but my husband kept tossing them in the trash with the orange peel. When I seen this one, Price was good, I thought it looked great, fits over our finger, large enough that it'll not be thrown out. A great Christmas gift for my husband. The peeler is made of a thick sterdy plastic, the cutting point is a tad on the short side. But the product looks good.LOOKS in this case are deceiving...On the second orange the cutting point broke off and stuck in the orange.Would I recommend this product? NO!!! GREAT DESIGN - LOUSY QUALITY November 23, 2016 Was LOVING it until the little piece that cuts through the skin of the orange just broke off! Could not believe that it could not hold up to cutting the skin on an orange. Design concept is a great idea but the product does not hold up. broke within two weeks of using it :( Bought the red with black rubber on the finger handle ... July 23, 2016 Bought the red with black rubber on the finger handle. Black rubber will break down with citrus juice and make a mess. Stay away. cheaply made August 6, 2014 I'm almost positive this thing was made in china. Didn't even last a week, I chipped the tip and once that happens its useless. Broke... May 30, 2014 Used this once and the tip is so flimsy it snapped off. DON'T BUY. The tip is made out of plastic. | 8% SUBSTANDARD QUALITY July 19, 2017 This is a smaller, cheap imitation of two better ones that I got at a hardware store. These were mailed from China. If you have a thin skin orange, the cutter will work. But, if it's a thick skin the cutter isn't long/deep enough to make it easy to peel off the orange rind. You'll have to use a knife and still won't be happy. Also, the front portion tends to dig into the orange skin and slows you down. Works but fragile. December 20, 2016 First off, I ordered the 6-pack and got a single. I didn't pursue getting the rest, since the little plastic blade broke almost immediately. I'm a third grade teacher, so I thought this would be perfect for my classroom. It didn't last 1/2 hour. It worked great before it broke, though. Horrible Product February 25, 2016 I waited two months for delivery of this product. I was quite disappointed when they came. I already have one of these gizmos and couldn't help but compare them when they arrived. These things were flimsy, cheaply-made and broke upon first use. What a waste of time and money! | 8% Good idea. Problem - simply does not work May 3, 2017 Good idea. Problem - simply does not work. I'm glad I didn't pay too much.It scores the peel ,but does not go deep enough to actually peel it, caca. The only reason I am giving this one star is ... March 13, 2017 The only reason I am giving this one star is because it looks much bigger in the picture and were smaller than expected. Bath and Beyond's brand was much stronger and worked like a charm February 13, 2017 Very flimsy. Bed, Bath and Beyond's brand was much stronger and worked like a charm. | 6% There are no reviews yet | 8% There are no reviews yet |
