Five Star Reviews: | 42% This little guy really works very good. Takes a little getting used to on how ... January 31, 2016 This little guy really works very good. Takes a little getting used to on how to grasp best, but does a nice job in scoring the rind. Great lil gadget March 28, 2014 I hate buying gadgets that end up never being used and abandoned at the back of kitchen drawers never to be used. Not this lil gem, its great for peeling oranges as the mini blade only pierces the peel not the flesh AND you can even use the flared edges to pry the peel off after you score it w the blade. Love it!! I just keep it next to the oranges/mandarins so its at hand whenever you want a quick and healthy snack. Works great-but pricey March 17, 2014 I have one of these I bought from walmart years ago and only paid about $2 for it. This is the same exact one and I cannot find them anywhere else. My parents were wanting one so I went ahead and ordered it. It works great and is a really good product but the price is so steep! Works great January 7, 2014 With an orange tree in the back yard, we have so many oranges to peel and eat every winter. This makes it so easy to peel. I just pull it all the way down and around the orange in a few different areas and the peel comes off so fast! Makes peeling citrus very easy. January 30, 2013 I've been using this for about 2 months now and I love it. Does a great job and makes it much easier to peel lemons, oranges & grapefruits. Fits in my hand (large, male) hand well. It has reduced my peeling time in half, and I don't get the peel under my nails now.UPDATE - Still sharp and working great now after 4+ months Searched forever May 24, 2010 I have an orange peeler like this that I've had for several years. This sytle of orange peeler is rounded so that it is comfortable to use no matter how tough the skin is.When I started searching for one to leave at work, I was surprised that I couldn't find one anywhere. Finally I searched on Amazon and am very happy with it. | 80% Nostalgia May 12, 2017 These are what I remember as kid we used to peel oranges. need to get some more again. Magical tool April 5, 2017 Finally found these -- the greatest invention for peeling citrus! Knives and fingernails are annoying and sloppy and depressing -- I never sought out the fruit basket very much. This weird little tool offers a pleasant experience while peeling citrus, thus I eat (probably too much) grapefruit and oranges. An oldie but a goody January 13, 2016 My mom used to sell Tupperware when I was young and this was one of my favorites. I moved out and alas - the peeler did not come with me. I had gone back to peeling oranges by hand which works. My family however are not as fond of getting the juice on their hands or peeling off the white bitter parts. I would get an orange and ask if anyone else wanted one while I was in the frige and everyone said no. Once it was peeling and I was sitting down though, everyone was taking my orange. So I bought the handy gadget and now everyone peels their own. The best citrus peeler, EVER! January 22, 2013 I had one of these that I got as a free prize at a Tupperware party about 30 years ago. Through all my moves and raising 4 kids, I still had it all that time, until about 4 years ago when I moved the last time, I had to leave many things behind. I can honestly say, this is one of the few things I really missed more than many others, lol! This peels oranges better than anything else and I recently found out that Amazon has many Tupperware products that I thought you could not get any longer or only at a party. I ordered this 3 pack and it came really fast and I can't tell you how excited I was when it came. I showed it to my husband and he had never seen anything that worked so good to peel an orange. Sometimes the greatest pleasures really DO come from the simplest things! I would recommend this product to anyone who likes oranges and doesn't like picking it apart with your fingers. It peels them super fast and lasts forever as long as you don't lose it or leave it behind! :) My Childhood Citrus Peeler May 29, 2012 When I was a little kid, I remember my mom carrying this citrus peeler to work almost everyday. It worked beautifully in creating deep gashes in the orange peel so you can work your fingers in and peel the orange easily. Almost decades later, after my parents moved and my mom disposed of many of her beloved kitchenwares, I had the toughest time finding it in a local gourmet restaurant supply shop. I described the citrus peeler as looking like "a toothbrush with its head cut off" because that's exactly what it looks like. I definitely got a weird look from the store employee who lead me to a chintzy, over-priced, bulky metal citrus peeler...not what I wanted. Thank goodness we have the internet.Only downside is you'll release some citrus oils when you're running the "toothbrush head" through the orange peel, so be careful that you're not using the peeler near something that will stain, or on items that have printed ink that will lift off. Citrus oil is pretty powerful stuff (See: Goo Gone). Also, if you press the "toothbrush head" too hard/deep into the orange peel, you'll slice right into the orange segments inside, which might become a mess. Travel pealers May 17, 2012 I made 3 separate orders with Amazon for peelers. Two were for a single Peeler. This order was for three peelers. The other two were for a single peeler with a scraper on the back of their head. There were only 2 Reviews available for the three transaction and providers so you have extra info. this transaction earned all 5 starsAmazon did a great job with this and 1 of my other orders for peelers. This order of 3 peelers is great for the uses I have for them. I travel quite a bit and now keep 1 in my vehicle, 1 in my tackle box and 1 in my always ready to travel bag, for some times I don't do the driving.I found the quality adequate for my need. The price was great; however shipping was a little high, but not anywhere as much as I have spent on gas looking for this product. This order was the first to arrive of the 3 orders. The second order arrived the next day comprised of one intact peeler which has seen lots of use and held up exceptionally well.Several days later the 3rd. order arrived comprised of 1 peeler with crushed scraper and head. It was damaged, I believe it happened in transport but could possibly have been prevented by using a little bubble paper.I wrote the provider and amazon a letter, never heard a word back from provider. Amazon sent email to return item. Printed sticker for mail and returned item.Sent peeler back @ my expense.Never got a replacement, refund or anything.I made this 3rd purchase for my dive bag which replaces my travel bag when Diving is a possibility on a trip. That is why I purchased this extra peeler for my dive bag.Forgot about item till November when I went to Isla Mojeres Mexico and there was no peeler in my dive goody bag. With my dive schedule and everything else forgot about it again till today when I got Amazon's request to rate the product & service. For a book I had ordered from Mexico.I noticed in my history that only two of the purchases were listed so I will put all this info on these two reviews and treat the other one which is a single peeler purchase as the disputed trans action. |
Four Star Reviews: | 15% Great for those who have difficulty gripping objects February 3, 2016 Really great for those who have arthritic hands. I have CRPS and my right hand doesn't work very well, making it difficult to use a traditional citrus peeler, but this solved the problem! Works great. The only thing is my hands are a little small so it slides around on my hand. handy with only small learning curve July 18, 2013 works well after you figure out you cut in the direction that leaves the wings up and down. The ends help lift the peel. Pretty handy little device. The only to peel an orange or grapefruit! May 8, 2013 Now this is one item I was unsure about. Not because of the cost. It's cheap. But I wondered how such e thing could work. Be assured my friend, it works fantastic. Get one, you'll love it. It's Okay March 10, 2013 I think this peeler is better than the straight stick ones, but it takes some time to get used to. It helps but sometimes I can't get the rind off without using my fingers. Back to the mess. Having said that, it's still better than cutting up the orange rind then extracting the orange. clever March 1, 2013 my teenage son would not eat oranges because he bites his nails and was unable to peel them. This device has solved that proplem;) now to work on the nail bitting! | 13% Pretty colors. I loved it so much I married it August 17, 2015 These are especially great in prison/ real life and you wish a mofo would... These peelers are handy. When I purchased them, ... April 6, 2015 These peelers are handy. When I purchased them, it said there would be three colors. My package only contained black. Works okay. February 22, 2015 Works okay but I prefer the Sunkist citrus peeler I had before. After years of use the sharp part used to score the peel broke off. Bought these as a replacement. The Tupperware peeler seems to spray a fine citrus mist every time you score the peel. I think it's because the part that does the scoring is thicker and not as sharp. like when I was a kid April 25, 2014 These are effective citrus peelers. Open a seam from top to bottom back to top with the fatter end using the pointed part to pierce the rind. Repeat to make four sections. Use the blade end to slip under the peel to separate the rind from the flesh. Make sure you are also under the white pith.I must have had my original ones for 25 years. They got lost somewhere. Glad I could get them here. Great little tool February 5, 2014 I love this peeler as I don't have to get a knife to score the peel and cut the flesh of the orange segments. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of all the orange oil it sprays when you are using the peeler. tupperware peelers January 14, 2013 I had purchased another peeler from a different company and the end did not hold up very well...i use the peelers all of the time, esp in winder for grapefruit and oranges...these peelers are sturdy and do the job I need done...they make peeling fruits a lot more a-pealing....I would recommend them to anyone who needs a simple tool to do the job. |
Three Star Reviews: | 16% Not as easy to use as the pencil type for getting under ... March 31, 2016 Not as easy to use as the pencil type for getting under the skins, but it does work as a cutter. Works OK but may as well just use a knife February 25, 2014 I was honestly hoping for better. I lost a smaller sized and cheaper tool that I bought at an orange stand in Florida. This one has a much bigger and more comfortable finger hole but it's too big for me. The piece that extends to cut into the rind seems too shallow and it's very hard to peel the orange skin off after you dice it. I miss my old 50 cent peeler. Citrus peeler February 25, 2013 I like it. It's great for peeling but awkward to use to remove the peel. My thumb barely fits in the hole so if you have stubby thumbs or big knuckles, try another option. Great, if you have tiny hands February 20, 2013 This peeler will only fit on my pinky and ring finger, which is bad if you are already wearing a ring on that finger. However, if you can get it on your hand it does an admirable job cutting the skin of an orange. I think you are better off with the old knitting needle design. Wish the rind removing part worked better January 18, 2013 Got it fast and easy but was not exactly what i had hoped for. The cutting part worked well but the sides that are supposed to assist in removing the rind just didn't work for me and I was peeling a tangelo which are fairly easy!Mine came in red | 4% New is not always better October 8, 2015 I have a Tupperware peeler from many years ago and it is very sturdy, just getting a little ragged around the edges. So I thought I would get a new one. These are much lighter in weight and the peeling end is way more flexible than it needs to be. I preferred the stiffer model. Three Stars February 3, 2015 All three are same color. It is alternative to cutting orange into sections. ... getting a little worn out and these were a great priced add-on item January 18, 2015 I bought these because my pampered chef one was getting a little worn out and these were a great priced add-on item. However, they are too sharp and inflexible and cut into the orange unlike the pampered chef's. Pampered chef's is a little more blunt and curved on the peeling end to help prevent unwanted gouging. I've reverted back to using the pampered chef or my fingers. These tend to sit in the drawer. Orange peeler May 7, 2014 Not what I expected. Too messy and cumbersome to use. Rather spend a bit more and get an electric one. Alright July 9, 2013 These peelers are alright. I have one from Pampered Chef and they are much better. These take more elbow grease to get the peels off. Orange Peelers... February 19, 2013 Yep. They work just as I planned they would. Dont really know how to rate this product. It does its job as expected |
Two Star Reviews: | 13% Wish I got the long one instead. July 27, 2017 Not that good actually, and hard to clean well in the front. Not worth it. July 15, 2016 Not worth it. I hate getting the peeling process started on oranges and thought this would help. It doesn't do anything a fork or knife couldn't do. It doesn't cut deep enough to get a good peeling started. My nails do a better job. I have had much better orange peelers before July 7, 2014 This slices your orange with ease, but the lips that is for peeling does not work very well. I have had much better orange peelers before. If you don't mind tearing your orange apart with your hands, then get this to slice the peel. ends don't peel April 15, 2014 The large size circular holder is handy. The sharp nib on the underside works well enough. But the two ends of the device don't push up the orange peel enough to enable peeling an orange. I had to use my fingernal -- and if I wanted to use my fingernail, I'd just score the orange with a small knife and use my fingernail to get the peel off. The smaller (and far less costly) orange peelers do peel up the edge where the peel is scored, avoiding the need to use a fingernail. I will probably file an edge of this thing down, so it actually is useful. They shoulda thought of that when they designed this. No user testing, eh? Don't bother.... June 20, 2013 I really needed something to peel oranges, my nails just aren't strong enough and it hurts the arthritis in my hands. I thought this might work, worth a try.Well, it didn't. I barely pierces the skin (and yes, I removed the tape covering it) and if you can manage to pull hard enough without squeezing the orange to death, you might pull back a little tab of peel. No way does it score the peel to make it easy to pull off. don't buy this March 8, 2013 A very poor quality citrus peeler. The blade (if you can even call it that) is very poorly made and broke within 15 uses. Also, this product is difficult to manipulate, and barely cuts through the pith on any type of organic citrus (I tried oranges & grapefruits). You are way better off buying one of those cheap plastic peelers. | 2% Almost works April 28, 2014 These peelers have it about half right. The hook end is just like the original ones from, I guess, Sunkist. The problem is with the other end of the peeler. It's flat, rather than curved, so it doesn't easily peel the orange. It works, just not as good as a curved peeler does. Use a knife January 31, 2014 Use the sharp end to cut the skin and the dull end to pry the skin off. I tried this on a naval orange and found it harder to use than a knife.....and it cut my hand. I think it will work better on fruits whose skin isn't as thick as a naval orange. I know people that swear by these gadgets, but I didn't have a great experience. Durable but poorly designed January 2, 2013 The end of this tool which should be used to get under the skin needs to be curved to conform to the shape of an orange. Straight tip makes it a challenge to use. |
One Star Reviews: | 14% Not worth the price..... December 31, 2016 I bought this orange peeler because I have arthritis and it makes it hard to peel them with my hands. I had the long slender orange ones but my husband kept tossing them in the trash with the orange peel. When I seen this one, Price was good, I thought it looked great, fits over our finger, large enough that it'll not be thrown out. A great Christmas gift for my husband. The peeler is made of a thick sterdy plastic, the cutting point is a tad on the short side. But the product looks good.LOOKS in this case are deceiving...On the second orange the cutting point broke off and stuck in the orange.Would I recommend this product? NO!!! GREAT DESIGN - LOUSY QUALITY November 23, 2016 Was LOVING it until the little piece that cuts through the skin of the orange just broke off! Could not believe that it could not hold up to cutting the skin on an orange. Design concept is a great idea but the product does not hold up. broke within two weeks of using it :( Bought the red with black rubber on the finger handle ... July 23, 2016 Bought the red with black rubber on the finger handle. Black rubber will break down with citrus juice and make a mess. Stay away. cheaply made August 6, 2014 I'm almost positive this thing was made in china. Didn't even last a week, I chipped the tip and once that happens its useless. Broke... May 30, 2014 Used this once and the tip is so flimsy it snapped off. DON'T BUY. The tip is made out of plastic. | 1% A piece of work February 6, 2014 There are no instructions for use. I assume the round end is for cutting and the blade end is for peeling. The round end is not capable of cutting, the blade end is too narrow for peeling. Using Knife for dicing or peeling is much better than this useless stick. Scamming Dealer January 18, 2012 This dealer is a scammer............. She is un responsive and will not answer any of my attempts to have my items sent -SHE GGOT HER MONEY- But I GOT NO ITEMS...........LET THE BUYER BE WARE............... |
