Best gift idea I've had in a while
July 1, 2017
This has been such a hit! Me and my 2 siblings went in together and bought this as a Father's Day gift. Two of us live out of state & in 2017 all 3 of us are adding a baby to the family (3 grandkids for my mom/dad!) so this frame allows us to send photos daily to my technologically challenged parents. We can add photos with the app or upload them online. Photos can be deleted/removed by logging in online only. I even sent a short video to the frame and it worked (but that takes up more storage). We did purchase the 16gb SD card for the frame--I should have purchased a larger one so we don't have to worry about running out of space. Mom and dad have told everyone about the frame and now all their friends want one too. Best gift idea I've had in a while!!! Great for the parents/grandparents that are hard to buy for!
Perfect!
June 16, 2017
Works great!! I set it up in my parents house and love being able to control everything on it remotely. They are in their 80s and I don't let them touch the frame. I even hid the remote so they can't mess anything up! They can't wait for new photos to appear on it. I've sent photos by email from my iPhone and computer. I've also created web albums on my computer and it syncs no problem. Very easy and fun. Love it. Going to get another one for my in-laws. Excellent quality.
Great frame, perfect gift that will keep on giving!
December 31, 2016
We got this for my mother, who is technologically challenged, for Christmas. She loves it and says it is the best gift she has ever received, We love it because we do not have to go manually put pictures on it. Once you set up an email address for the frame and set the frame up initially, you can just email pictures to it from anywhere. My only complaint was that it looks like a digital device as opposed to a picture frame. To remedy that, I purchased a nice frame and cut out the back so that I could set the digital frame inside the nice frame. (See picture)
Great Product
December 6, 2016
Best present I ever gave my mother and probably one of the favorite things she owned. She lived in another state and was able to keep up with all of her 15 grand children and 20+ great grand children though the pictures. All the families could send them to the frame. It has great picture quality. Once it is set up there is nothing to do - everything can be automatic including on and off times. FANTASTIC for older folks once you set it up.
OMG I LOVE this frame!
September 15, 2016
I looked through the frames and reviews all over the internet and decided on 10.4" frame. My aunt was moving into a smaller place and wouldn't have room for all her "rogues gallery" so I thought she needed a digital frame. Not having looked for one for several years I was happy to see that some positive changes have been made to them, not the least of which is the ability for any of her relatives or friends to add a picture by sending a simple e-mail attachment. After I set it up and hung it on the wall near my aunt's recliner one cousin updated it with pictures as she and her kids vacationed together. I swear! My aunt was watching this frame like it was a TV!I preferred this frame for several reasons. Ease of setup. Ability to update pictures through e-mails. The fact that I or any of her daughters can manage the frame and picture gallery from their own computers long distance. The fact that my aunt (who is 94) doesn't have to do a thing but watch the pictures go by.I would highly recommend this frame to anyone who has a technically challenged loved one and can't be with them 24/7. I can't say how long the frame will last, but if it's even for a few short years I will be satisfied. I added 64GB memory to the frame though I doubt that I will ever need so much space, though it's nice to know that I can keep all the pictures that I want locally. At the moment all the pictures are in the frame cloud.
The perfect thing for an elderly parent or grandparent!!!!
April 27, 2015
This thing is a god-send!! My mother is in a nursing home in another states; 6.5 hours from us. She also has a new great-grand daughter she doesn't get to see often. This frame ha become her newest obsession. It is easy to install and works flawlessly. I have it set up so it goes to sleep at 9 pm and comes on at 7 am. This way, she will not lie awake all night waiting for new photos to come in. I can monitor the status and see new postings to it remotely through the website. If you download the app for Apple or Android, you can post pictures from anywhere int eh world. The large 15" is the one I bought so she has no trouble seeing it. I would highly recommend this item for anyone who has an elderly parent. They do nothing but look at it so there is no skills needed. It keeps my mother from being so lonely.

Great Product
June 24, 2017
This is a great frame! I have one and purchased one for my parents...my critique is that the "kickstand" is garbage...it almost took away from the frame's greatness.... Anyways, everything else is solid...I usually just send pics directly from my phone and it works flawless. I would definitely purchase again!
Great image and easy uploading
May 18, 2017
This review is for the 15" frame. I chose the larger frame to accommodate my dad's macular degeneration. He has been very happy with it and has been able to see the uploaded pictures. The images are sharp and color saturated. I have the frame set up to load the pictures as original size which creates black bars top/bottom on landscape photos and to the sides of portrait photos. It does possess the ability to stretch to fill, as well as a number of other image display features. The ability to upload by email has been a real game changer, all of the kids can upload pictures and label them using the email subject line. The email address of the sender and the subject line display at the bottom of the image, which makes it super easy to identify photos if the sender will label them with the date, location, and event. I have the frame set up to automatically load so my parents don't need to do anything. Mom can use the remote to pause, backup, or fast forward through the pictures.I removed one star for the difficult time the frame has maintaining its Internet connection. It will still be connected to WiFi, but show disconnected from the 'Net. This happened on both my home Cox network and my parent's AT&T network. If you leave it alone it will eventually reconnect within five - ten minutes. All in all this digital frame has been a terrific addition for my family and I would buy it again.
Great for keeping it touch with remote family
January 14, 2017
It functions.I like:1) Frames get email addresses fo easy sending of pictures. Very quick and convenient sending, you can send multiple at once2) You can group multiple frames and the groups get its own email address, very cool3) A nice sound notification plays when you receive the picture and an envelope is displayed in the corner. The envelope also occasionally jumps on the center of the screen to make sure you don't miss a picture. (You could also set it into auto-accept mode but I like the notification part)4) Remote control is great to have, very convenient5) Motion detector is great (though my grandma still prefers to unplug the thing when she's not using it as she's afrad of electronics)6) Hardware is not of displeasing shape and design, stand is nice7) It's very cool and useful that you can configure other frames in your group remotely. This is great for an older relative who lives far away and when they want to adjust somethingI dislike:1) The UIs in both the frame and the online tool look like your dentist's software and were probably designed in the early 90s. Absolutely horrendous. It is obvious there was no one with "UX" in their title when this was constructed. That is the single reason for which I'm taking off a star.2) I wish there was a function to only display the last sent picture, you have to do albums. Not a biggy, I realize it's a very particular nit pick3) Light bleed is present but honestly I don't care so muchResume:Does help keep connected with your relatives, especially with the older ones who would find email/texting/apps daunting.Even for the younger ones (myself included), it's just great to have a dedicated device for picture exchange and have the pictures up withouth pulling out your phone or ipad. I have members of my family in 3 different locations, each thousands of miles apart and this device (I got 3 for each location) does help. Get it, you can live with the UX.
Highly recommended for elderly people
August 14, 2016
Great product especially for elderly people. Bought this for my mom who lives in Korea and is 75 years old. One of the best things about this frame is that you can email all your new pictures directly to the photo frame so there is no hassle with memory cards (although you can use a memory card as well). The only disadvantage I noticed were:1) No Korean language options (although the welcome page had Korean language saying "Welcome" in Korean)2) Interface is a little tricky and can be a little tedious trying to get the optimal settings3) Frame is NOT touch screen which would have made setup a lot easier; instead, had to use the remote which wasn't very responsive unless you aimed directly over the sensorOther than that, this is a great product and I would definitely recommend this!
A very useful cloud-based frame. Big, but convenient.
July 5, 2016
This picture frame is big. at 10" it takes of a fair amount of real estate on an end table. Beyond that it is really nice having the cloud features built into the frame. It is handy that you can link your Pix-star account to a cloud service and simply drop photos there. Once the Pix-star site rescans your linked site, the photos will start showing up on the frame.Set up and operation of the frame is a bit clunky using the menu structure. If you can get past that, it does a good job of what its intended for which is to show you your pictures. If you had one for a relative, it's got a nice feature of being able to send photos (be they mobile phone or computer based) directly to the frame via a designated e-mail address. So if you snap a great picture (or someone else does) it can be sent to the frame from the phone you used to take it with a few taps.My biggest complaint about the frame is not the manufacturer's fault. My biggest complaint is Apple's fault. The frame isn't able to link with Apple iCloud photo streams. This is due to restrictions Apple puts on its services. If Apple could just loosen their grip a bit, I wouldn't have any major complaints about this product.UPDATE: For unknown reasons the pix star website is not refreshing a web album from Shutterfly's website. It requires manually going to their website and clicking the refresh button to pull down new photos to the frame. The site clearly says that the web album will check for new photos periodically. However, it's not checking this one Shutterfly album. There's probably some coding that the company needs to update on their website. However, e-mailing photos to the frame still seems to be working just fine. So you can still email photos to your frame very easily.
Fantastic Frame! Newer models allow for HUE correction.
February 11, 2016
This a fantastic frame!I did a lot of research into which frame to buy and I was overwhelmed with the features of the Pix-Star frames. But, for all the bells and whistles, you buy a Digital Photo Frame to see pictures as if you were framing them to showcase in your home. So, picture quality was my topmost priority. That is where some of the reviews drew my attention away from the brand, specifically two issues:* resolution (800x600 seemed a little low), and* color temperature (many reviews claimed blue tint on most pictures compared to other devices like tablets and phones)As for issue #1, the 10.4 inch model has a resolution of 800x600, which, at the screen size, results in a 96dpi display. That matches the resolution of many LCD or LED monitors where you work on every day. For those looking into the 15" model, the dpi is a little less actually, even though the pixel count is higher, that is why I chose the 10". Of course, if you put your face a couple of inches away from the frame you will see the pixels, but at the normal viewing distance of 3 feet (1 meter), the frame's resolution is more than adequate, specially if the source image comes from a good source like a DSLR or a back-camera from a modern phone. Selfies and other images taken with lower-end cameras do suffer a bit more. Still, I deducted half a star because I really would have hoped for a 1024x800 or so display. I believe it would bring a lot of POP to the images. As for issue #2, I found a very useful post on Pix-Star website that claimed that as of November 2015 all models allow for HUE correction. I hopped for the best and ordered hopping that amazon would ship the newer model and, certainly enough, I got one with the HUE correction options (and the motion sensor). Still, the corrections are very 'broad' and I was unable to match my pro-grade DELL monitor factory calibrated color, but I was able to bring the much needed warmth to the skin tones quite a bit. Still, I shaved another half a star because, while now pleasing to the eye, the images still lack a bit of warmth. Perhaps a setting for cool - neutral - warm tones could be implemented via a firmware in the future?Still, the image quality is very, very good. Adding a little saturation and a little hue shift made the images much more natural and brought back the 'pop' that is reported as missing in some of the earlier reviews. One issue that is reported on the online reviews is the light bleed on the edges. I have to report that this is, sadly, true. While not at all an issue on a full image that fills the frame, if the image is in the opposite orientation and you are left with black stripes, the light bleed on the borders is very visible, specially if the ambient light is dim or null. If the ambient light is strong, it is hardly visible. That said, this does not detract on the quality of the image, but makes for a distraction at times. Not enough of an issue to hold my enthusiasm for the product. As for features, the Pix-Star is, by far, the best choice. In very little time I was able to put in a USB drive or SD card with my pictures, create the mail account to start sending photo emails to the device, and hooked up my favorite Facebook albums and my Google Drive folders where I keep my professional DSLR pictures. You can set the frame to show them all at once: local storage, memory cards, web albums (the only functionality not available in 'combo' view is the DLNA server approach, but I believe its an understandable compromise, I much rather have that option as well).I really believe this is the frame to go to. The Pix-Star site came as very intuitive, and the service is very interesting. I cannot help but to applaud the fact that they have replied to or helped almost all of the negative reviews here with genuine intention of helping and not just 'getting the issue out of the way'.Kudos to the company for such a dedication to customers.I would buy another one for my new home and gift others to my family if money were not an issue. The pix-star is also on the pricier side when comparing similar offerings, but I believe all the features more than make up for the price tag.Very happy with the purchase. Hope this review helps others that are on the fence as I was. It really is a great choice.

Not as easy as the package claims
October 31, 2017
Nice monitor but when I saw “Wi-Fi enabled” and for the price tag for this photo frame, I’m thinking sweet I’ll send pics from my phone and it will sync up automatically. Bought as a gift and had like a day to get it together and wrap it up.I’m a 9/10 in terms of figuring out technology. This..was annoying. No touch screen so before you hookup the remote or Wi-Fi - you have to look over the screen to click the up down left right select buttons (super fun for letter number mixes in your password). Then there’s the online setup to create your account, email photos to your pixstar account (try 200 pics - most phones cap at 30MB per email), fix the syncing setup, add music, and change transitions. #eyerollListen, I might be wrong...there could be an easier way that I missed so it you have the time, go for it.In my mind, pictures —> frame in 2017 should be: turn frame on, connect, transfer files.
Image quality a bit lacking
May 13, 2017
I did my research and this was supposed to be one of the best on the market. Have to say I was disappointed in the quality of the screen/image. It definitely is nowhere near the quality you'd see on a tablet or laptop screen. I was planning to buy more if I loved it, but I do not. It's ok but for the price I would've expected higher quality screen. 5-10 years ago I'd think the screen looks pretty standard for such a device. But today it seems somewhat outdated. When you look at the quality of screen/image you get with a $49 Kindle Fire, it just seems somewhat disappointing to have your photos shown on this.
Great frame, easy to use....BUT
March 18, 2017
Great frame; however, I would love the ability to show photos in the same order as I have them in my album. These pictures tell a story about my family and make absolutely no sense when played randomly.
Good picture frame but has old outdated weather information
March 11, 2017
I purchased the 10.4 inch version of this Pix-Star picture frame. The good thing about this picture frame is it can be updated remotely with new pictures through its Wi-Fi connection and it can use some of the picture services out there such as Google, although I don't see any support for Amazon Prime photos. The pictures are relatively clear but are not high resolution as the display specs are 800 x 600. What I don't like is its weather forecasts are not updated often and I see weather information that are over 10 hours old, such as the temperature in my city I don't see any options to increase its weather update frequencies other than to turn it off or on. I hope Pix-Star can fix this weather update issue by giving more frequent weather updates so the weather information is more accurate.
Good if you put it close to your router
January 19, 2015
I returned this item because it would not stay connected to my wifi. If I moved it closer to the router, it worked fine--but that's not where I want to put the frame.Close to your router--you'll love it. More than 30 feet away and passing through a couple of walls, not so much.
Does not work on wireless systems that require a web-based authentication
January 10, 2014
I love this produce and purchased it for my father who is paralyzed. However, he is unable to use it at his current location because their wireless requires a web-paged based log-in (like a hotel, where you have to go online to enter in the user name and password).I contacted customer service and they were prompt and courteous, despite delivering the news that they could not help me. The only way around it to get the IT person at the location to bypass this for you, but that's not going to happen at, I would guess, 99% of places.

Frame was ok, but the Nixplay Edge was much better.
October 15, 2016
Colors were off. Online interface left much to be desired. Wasn't sure if color issue was a defect, but assumed so and sent it back (thanks for the quick service Amazon). Ordered 8" Nixplay Edge instead. Even though at roughly the same price point the 8" Edge had much better colors, and the online interface to remotely control the frame were MUCH better!
Does not work for very long and terrible support.
April 23, 2016
Expensive for a little more than a year of usability. For a year it worked fine then it began to have problems storing photos emailed to it. Email showed as received but did not save / display the photo. I tried the "fixes", re-starting re-positioning the frame and my router. Their "tech Support" parroted back the same "fixes" from their cue cards with no improvement. Several months later, the unit stopped displaying pictures, it would show the re-start screen and go to black and stay there.
I bought this for my mom for her January Birthday ...
February 18, 2016
I bought this for my mom for her January Birthday, once I went to visit and she opened it we discovered the remote does not work. I came back to the site to contact seller and see if they can replace remote and see no way to contact or do anything about the issue....VERY FRUSTRAGED.We have changed batteries and tried all that the book suggest now stuck.
WARNING - Does not use 5Ghtz wifi frequency.
December 5, 2015
I purchased this unit based on all of its wonderful reviews and elaborate description of its capabilities, but as soon as I received I could not use it on my network. My home wifi network broadcasts in 5Ghtz which this unit CANNOT use. It can only use 2.4Ghtz, per customer support. I am rating the product low for this reason especially since nowhere in the product specs can I locate this information. I'm highly annoyed that I can't find this out without contacting customer support. I use 5Gtz to connect all my devices because it makes the Internet run faster on them. It's the only way for example that I can play Netflix shows at an acceptable download speed. So now I have two choice - return the frame or upgrade my router to a concurrent dual band broadcaster for about the same price as the frame itself. UGH!
There are better choices
September 21, 2015
This frame is ok - the picture quality is good and it was easy to set up. The downfalls to it are - the remote causes random reactions with other electronic frames and the online aspects are horrible. I have been unable to download a software upgrade because the frame will not stay connected to the network long enough to complete the action. Uploading pictures to the website is intermittent at best - not worth the time and aggravation. I would not buy this brand again. I have a Samsung, HP and Nix brand that are all better.
Doesn't work as advertised.
June 28, 2014
I bought this frame for my elderly parents to be able to share pictures with them from the rest of the family while we are all out and busy with our lives. They have had it for a month and I am still trying to get it to work as advertised. The wifi will not connect automatically to their iphone hotspot. I did contact the customer support and did not receive a reply for 4 days and not until I contacted them again. At that point I got a very rude email about how they did reply and it wasn't their fault I didn't get the email! Well, the frame is still not connecting to wifi automatically and I am not located close to my parents to help them figure out why. I will keep everyone posted on how this plays out!

It is absolutely the MOST FRUSTRATING thing to set up ever!
October 19, 2017
I want to hurl this against the wall! It is absolutely the MOST FRUSTRATING thing to set up ever! It has no touch screen and the buttons to scroll around the menus are on the back so it takes FOREVER to set it up. The menus are confusing and trying to input a wifi password is crazy! Heaven forbid you should get a letter or number wrong - you have to basically start over. That said, the only saving graces of this frame is the picture is good and the motion sensor is handy. I would not waste your money on this. Get one with a touch screen!!

Father's Day gift for my husband. Remote control does not work. Disappointed
Nothing but trouble
April 21, 2017
I am very disappointed with this product. First I had trouble registering the product when I got it. The web page would not respond. Tried to contact customer service and they only have an email. Finally figured out that couldn't pull the web page up on wifi, had to be actually connected to cable. Got that all taken care of, only to find that my "frame couldn't access the internet" even though it was connected to the wifi. So photos would not load to the frame. Again I email the company and after several exchanges I am told they don't know why my frame can not access the internet and that I need to reconfigure my router despite the fact that all of my other devices have no problem accessing the internet. Anyway after spending over a day emailing and no resolution, I decided it shouldn't be this hard and I would rather just try another brands frame. Very disappointed as I was really excited about getting this wifi frame.
Digital Frame had a shorter lifespan than a Mayfly!
August 19, 2016
Orderered this frame due to all the (supposedly) good reviews. Just received the frame, powered it up and inserted an SD card with pictures on it. Frame worked well for about 1 1/2 hours, then all of a sudden it just died. I moved the power supply to a different outlet (even though I know the outlet was working because a lamp was working from the same outlet). Frame still would not power up from the second and then a third outlet. Cycled the power switch several times, and unplugged/re-plugged in the power connector several times too...No joy!So, while this thing wasn't DOA, it had a MUCH SHORTER working lifespan than a Mayfly (much less than 24 hours). This was supposed to be a gift given at a good friend's retirement ceremony tonight, but I guess I'll just be saying something nice now. Unbelievable.
This is the worst frame I have ever used
June 27, 2016
I have had this digital frame for 2 years and was only now able to get it to work. Every time I tried it would lock up and not stream photos. Well I kind of got it to work. It gets 1/2 way through the USB and goes back to menu, then starts over at the beginning. It only has back buttons so you have to bounce up and down the buttons, blindly, to work the menu, which doesn't ever seem to get anywhere functional. This is the worst frame I have ever used. If you love constant fidgeting to get a gadget to work as design, then this is for you. Me, I find it annoying and regret the purchase.
Disappointed in photo quality
June 26, 2016
The set up of this digital picture frame was easy and quick. Unfortunately, after sending three different pictures from three different devices, via email, to the picture frame all of the pictures lacked color, contrast and clarity. Despite attempted adjustments I was unable to improve the quality of the photos.
