Look no further, I already did the work for you!
November 26, 2016
I first purchased this frame in 2014. It was super easy to set up and I have the app on my phone and iPad which makes it super easy to update with new pictures, even from the other side of the world. I have been researching a digital frame as a gift for a family member and I have to say, after reading until my eyeballs hurt, I really can't find another digital frame that is any better than this one, so I will be gifting ANOTHER one of these. (I've previously gifted this frame to other family members, too.) The simplicity, picture quality and the app make it simply the best. I've owned other brands, i.e., Kodak. Does not compare to this one. The only reason I researched other brands was because I wanted to make sure it was up to date technologically. This one is. I love the options that the app offers, too, like captions, color adjustments, motion sensor settings, etc.
Grab a bowl of popcorn and let the memories roll....
January 9, 2015
I don't often write reviews because I'm lazy. But this product deserves attention. I long awaited something to come along that was easy for a person that is not techy...meaning even I could do it! The instructions for this item are impecable, within minutes I was enjoying precious photos. As a small child one of my favorite memories was when my dad would set up the old projector and screen and do an old fashioned slideshow of our family...me as a child, my parents young and in love, my grandparents as young parents. We would get popcorn and sit as a family and I can still smell and hear that machine running...flashforward to 2015. My children and were able to get popcorn and stare at our history flashing before our eyes for hours. Its a beautiful (and easy!) thing. What's more, I will be purchasing more frames for other family members as gifts, that I can control! Our 85-90 year old grandparents, my children's grand parents, cousins, friends...we haven't had the luxury of living by any extended family in many years. The most painful part about that is we don't get to share our children's daily lives with anyone. Their dad is currently living overseas so its just us. This piece of technology allows us to share daily life with others, and that is honestly priceless. I don't feel so alone. Finally, I hope this frame helps my children remember all the wonderful times we have. Currently we are watching 2014 and being grateful for it, and looking forward to what pictures will glow for 2015. Thank you for this amazing, usable product!
LOVE IT!!!

My wife and I have a few other email/wifi picture frames, but none of them compare to this one. We have bought several of the 10" ones (another brand) as gifts, but we LOVE having this giant 18" frame for us. We have it on our mantel, and it is quite an eye-catcher with these vibrant pictures rotating through. It is very easy to set up, and extremely easy to manage. If you spend a little time setting it up, it can basically keep itself organized even with multiple frames (emails from different people automatically go to certain playlists which in turn go to the appropriate frames). These frames are great as gifts (especially for grandparents). It makes it so easy for all of the kids to send pictures so the grandparents always have a fresh look at what's going on with their kids/grandkids.
I love this frame and the simplicity of it all
August 9, 2014
I grew up in a household where there were picture frames all over (walls, dressers, nightstands, etc i think you get the point) so when I got my place I wanted it clutter free and picture less. This worked well for me until I had my first born. I love this frame and the simplicity of it all. The screen size is bigger than my ipad air so its really easy to see the pictures even from a distance.I set up my email address as an approved email address on the website along with a few family members and I put them to automatically go into my slideshow. So whenever one of us takes a cute pic of my daughter they email the pic directly to the nixplay email address and it pops up on the slideshow within a 15/20 mins.I've had other digital frames but I always feel like it such a burden to update the pics on the usb or memory, having the wifi on this frame with the ability to instantly send a pic to the frame is the easiest and really allows you showcase great pics in the home/office.
Great product, very easy to use!

I've seen these on the desks of people at work for a few years and finally decided to get one. During my research I was thrilled to learn that not only were the screens much larger then I had seen, but some of them had Wi-Fi. I liked what I read about NixPlay and if I don't like it, returns are easy with Amazon.Well I bought 2 frames, the 15 inch and the 12 inch and I am keeping them both. They are huge! My only regret is that I didn't buy the 8 inch frame as well which I have since ordered. I will have the 15 inch in the living room, 12 inch in the bedroom and 8 inch at work.Setup was really easy with the quick start guide. I had both frames up and running with a handful of pictures I quickly uploaded to my account on the website. First I created an empty album on the website, then uploaded pictures to that album. Next you create a slideshow and add one or more albums to that slideshow. Then you add one or more slideshows to a photo frame. I haven't quite figured out the benefit of slideshows just yet as it seems like an extra layer that isn't needed.I plan to mount the frames to the wall at the house. It uses metric machine screws #4 by 12 and I bought ones about 1/2 inch long. I slide off the square plate on back. You have to nudge it around until you get it to come off (plastic tabs on the back of the plate are in some holes). Now it looks like you could put one or two screws into the wall and then set the frame over those screws and push it down to lock it in place. You could also buy a mounting frame like they have for flat screen TVs. I plan two use my screws to put in the mounting plate holes on the back of the frame, leaving them sticking out some, wrap picture frame wire around the screws and then hang it on the wall.I have set my frames so that they power off if there isn't motion after 5 minutes. You can set it for higher time amounts too. The remote control works great and since I will be mounting this close to the TV in the living room, I like that I can use the remote to turn the frame off. If I'm watching a movie and don't want it to pop on when someone moves around. There is a slot in the back of the frame to store the remote but I plan to keep it with my other remotes.I did try Facebook and while I don't have a lot of pictures on Facebook that aren't already on my computer, what was cool was I could grab pictures from my friends on Facebook and add them to an album. I think the quality that Facebook stores photos at is lower because they don't look as good as the ones from my computer.Speaking of quality, you have two settings, upload the full image size, or an optimized size. I have been using optimized so far and they look good enough for the casual event pictures I have loaded so far like Mothers Day. When I upload more formal shots I plan to try out the full size option.Since some pictures are landscape and some are portrait, my initial plan was to have all my landscape pictures on the 15 inch frame and portrait on the 12 inch frame. I have since changed my mind. The frames are so large that I don't really need to maximize them like I thought. You can set it to either full screen or fit to screen I believe and I like fit to screen. Fit to screen seems to show the full image where the full screen will crop photos to use the entire screen. The frames do have a USB port and memory card port but to be honest, with Wi-Fi, I don't know that I will ever use those features. If my Wi-Fi is ever down, the frame will just play the pictures that were last downloaded from the cloud.I imagine that as soon as my parents see this I will be buying a frame for them and the cool thing is I can send different photos to different frames. I can send the same slideshow to multiple frames or different frames. I have been wanting a digital frame for years but am glad I waited because I think the nixplay frame has everything I could ever want in a frame. Highly recommend!
Great frame and great company
May 9, 2014
UPDATE: Upping to 5 stars (from 4) because I am really enjoying the frame overall the issues I mentioned aren't worth docking 1 star.I bought one of these the first day it was available for sale and I was initially disappointed. The frame did not perform like the W08A I had purchased. However, after the the software update I received 5/8/2014 (version 1.7), it seems to be working well and I am now very happy with the frame, and I even ordered a 2nd one!I have 3 suggestions for the frame.1) Slideshows need a random playback option, and from what I read on their support forums, this is in the works.2) I would like to be able to configure a DND time period, where the frame is asleep and the motion sensor is disabled. The reason for that is that I have one frame in my bedroom and don't want it kicking on during the night for any reason (and I am too lazy to turn it on/off manually everyday).3) I would like higher resolution screen (comparable to a retina iPhone's PPI).I'd actually edit my rating to 5 stars if the first 2 are addressed. Also, this frame has VESA mounting holes underneath a slip cover on the back. Their product description does not mention that like it does for their non-cloud frame. Finally, NIX seems like a great company that stands behind their products. The unit I ordered had one bad pixel, and after I contacted NIX, I had a new (perfect) frame in my hands the next day.

Best gift idea I've had in a while
July 1, 2017
This has been such a hit! Me and my 2 siblings went in together and bought this as a Father's Day gift. Two of us live out of state & in 2017 all 3 of us are adding a baby to the family (3 grandkids for my mom/dad!) so this frame allows us to send photos daily to my technologically challenged parents. We can add photos with the app or upload them online. Photos can be deleted/removed by logging in online only. I even sent a short video to the frame and it worked (but that takes up more storage). We did purchase the 16gb SD card for the frame--I should have purchased a larger one so we don't have to worry about running out of space. Mom and dad have told everyone about the frame and now all their friends want one too. Best gift idea I've had in a while!!! Great for the parents/grandparents that are hard to buy for!
Perfect!
June 16, 2017
Works great!! I set it up in my parents house and love being able to control everything on it remotely. They are in their 80s and I don't let them touch the frame. I even hid the remote so they can't mess anything up! They can't wait for new photos to appear on it. I've sent photos by email from my iPhone and computer. I've also created web albums on my computer and it syncs no problem. Very easy and fun. Love it. Going to get another one for my in-laws. Excellent quality.
Great frame, perfect gift that will keep on giving!
December 31, 2016
We got this for my mother, who is technologically challenged, for Christmas. She loves it and says it is the best gift she has ever received, We love it because we do not have to go manually put pictures on it. Once you set up an email address for the frame and set the frame up initially, you can just email pictures to it from anywhere. My only complaint was that it looks like a digital device as opposed to a picture frame. To remedy that, I purchased a nice frame and cut out the back so that I could set the digital frame inside the nice frame. (See picture)
Great Product
December 6, 2016
Best present I ever gave my mother and probably one of the favorite things she owned. She lived in another state and was able to keep up with all of her 15 grand children and 20+ great grand children though the pictures. All the families could send them to the frame. It has great picture quality. Once it is set up there is nothing to do - everything can be automatic including on and off times. FANTASTIC for older folks once you set it up.
OMG I LOVE this frame!
September 15, 2016
I looked through the frames and reviews all over the internet and decided on 10.4" frame. My aunt was moving into a smaller place and wouldn't have room for all her "rogues gallery" so I thought she needed a digital frame. Not having looked for one for several years I was happy to see that some positive changes have been made to them, not the least of which is the ability for any of her relatives or friends to add a picture by sending a simple e-mail attachment. After I set it up and hung it on the wall near my aunt's recliner one cousin updated it with pictures as she and her kids vacationed together. I swear! My aunt was watching this frame like it was a TV!I preferred this frame for several reasons. Ease of setup. Ability to update pictures through e-mails. The fact that I or any of her daughters can manage the frame and picture gallery from their own computers long distance. The fact that my aunt (who is 94) doesn't have to do a thing but watch the pictures go by.I would highly recommend this frame to anyone who has a technically challenged loved one and can't be with them 24/7. I can't say how long the frame will last, but if it's even for a few short years I will be satisfied. I added 64GB memory to the frame though I doubt that I will ever need so much space, though it's nice to know that I can keep all the pictures that I want locally. At the moment all the pictures are in the frame cloud.
The perfect thing for an elderly parent or grandparent!!!!
April 27, 2015
This thing is a god-send!! My mother is in a nursing home in another states; 6.5 hours from us. She also has a new great-grand daughter she doesn't get to see often. This frame ha become her newest obsession. It is easy to install and works flawlessly. I have it set up so it goes to sleep at 9 pm and comes on at 7 am. This way, she will not lie awake all night waiting for new photos to come in. I can monitor the status and see new postings to it remotely through the website. If you download the app for Apple or Android, you can post pictures from anywhere int eh world. The large 15" is the one I bought so she has no trouble seeing it. I would highly recommend this item for anyone who has an elderly parent. They do nothing but look at it so there is no skills needed. It keeps my mother from being so lonely.

Goog picture quality. Features can be improved.
December 27, 2015
I bought both the Nixplay and the Pix-star frames to compare them side by side in an effort to make my own conclusion given there are so many conflicting reviews. In short, the Nixplay has better picture quality (to my eyes) while the Pix-star has a few better features. Considering hardware cannot be upgraded but software can, i'm keeping the Nixplay frame hoping the features will be improved on the coming firmware updates.I bought this as a Christmas present for my parents and they really like it. Another feature that made me choose the Nixplay frame over the Pix-Star? It has its own App. I installed the App on my parents phones and a few minutes later they were sending all the pics they have taken of their grandchildren to the frame. Some suggestions for the Nixplay team:1. A notification icon letting the user know new pictures have arrived. Also, giving the user the ability to view and edit (delete) the new pictures. Currently, unless you are sitting staring at the frame, you'll never know you have received new pictures. The pix-star frame has this feature.2. Who send the pictures as part of the notification.3. More transition options.4. A collage (multiple pic) display option would be nice to have. The pix-star frame has some games and the ability to listen to online radio. I don't buy a picture frame for any of those two things (that's what phones and tablets are for) so it didn't matter to me.If needed, I'll update this review in a few weeks.
Good gift, almost excellent, some tech issues
March 4, 2015
This was bought as a gift for my husband's mother. However she was staying with us when we gave it to her, so we were able to set it up, and play with it for about a month before she left. In the past my parents have gifted digital frames to my grandparents, and they always end up disappearing. I assume they stop working or just don't do what they are supposed to do. What makes this frame great is that I can update it online and the frame will update wirelessly on my mother-in-law's end. Did I mention we live thousands of miles away? So great! The picture quality is excellent. You can set it to go to sleep or wake up depending on sensing movement in the room. It starts back up where it left off when it comes back on. We usually share all of our pictures on Google and we were able to load all of the pictures from there. It was so fun to see all of our photos that I suggested we get our own frame to keep at our house. We currently just look at the pictures on an app on our phones. This frame is a bigger, nicer way to view them.We held off on buying our own frame, and thus the only 4 stars. The reason being the interface, software and app integration is not really all that easy. We have been looking and waiting for a frame (either an update to Nixplay or perhaps another company) that makes it all seamless. For instance, I technically should be able to send a picture from my phone direct to my mil's frame. The Nixplay app doesn't do much except open your email for you to send from there. But then you have to have already set up your email to be a authorized sender. Then you have to make sure you have an album set up to show on the frame. And even after all that we still couldn't get it to show up on the frame without logging into our Nixplay account and dragging it to the frame to update. After doing that, it played on the frame once, and then I don't know what happened. However, all of our Google albums play quite nicely. Annoyingly though, there is no option to randomize photos. So you're stuck going through all the photos each time, unless you choose a specific album to play. When adding a new playlist I have to drag it to the top of the playlists, it doesn't automatically get played as the most recent. Although sometimes it does. Go figure.I feel like the technology will get there eventually, and then I think these are a great idea. I used to scoff and say why buy a digital frame when your computer's screen saver can do the same thing? Well it can, and maybe it even does it better. But you usually don't have your computer sitting out in your living room. With this frame, I found the family would sit around it and just watch the photos and talk about old times. That's a good part of its worth right there.
Alot of initial problems, but good customer service fixed the problems
February 24, 2015
Bought this for my parents for Christmas. The first one that was delivered wouldn't connect to their WiFi. The second one would connect just fine, but when they attempted to register the frame online the Nixplay website wouldn't complete the registration/setup process...even after trying over a number of days. Initially the site wouldn't recognize the frames serial number, but that was fixed after the first e-mail to customer service. However, after that Nixplay customer service as useless; providing ridiculous advice such as it wouldn't work because they needed to use Chrome or Firefox instead of IE. My parents say that the frame is nice look and appears to have a lot of nice features, but that's not worth anything if you can't even get the frame setup.Update: 3-more stars because of the outstanding customer service that Nixplay provided to my parents to fix the problem AFTER the initial 1-star rating. But, it sounds like they were going to take steps to address the initial problems with the customer service as well, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Now that my siblings and I can e-mail photos to the frame, my folks are loving it. I may buy one for myself.
Pros and Cons
December 18, 2014
I bought this frame to be able to send pictures to it from my cell without having to hook it all up to my computer.Pros - Large screen, great resolution. Lots of features including motion sensor which helps with the life of the frame, it turns off if there is no movement. You can burn thru a frame pretty quickly if it is constantly on, speaking from experience.Cons - The frame has no internal memory, which means either you upload your pictures or insert a USB or SD card, you can not view pictures from both features at the same time. I had to upload 1200 pictures to the cloud to be able to view all pictures at the same time, which was a time consuming task.1st attempt -Tried on my laptop with the SD card to transfer to the cloud, wasn't working. I was determined to make this work!!! I transferred all the pics from the SD card to a USB drive to take to work to upload. I'm not sure if its the newer computer, transferring to USB or changing the upload settings to optimize but it seems to be working, not a speedy process. Also note, when uploading your pics each playlist only holds 500 pictures, so I advise only uploading 500 at a time, better to organize. For those of you who aren't computer savvy or have any experience with technology this may not be the frame for you. There is no way my husband would've been able to figure this all out.
Color is good, a little color shift to red but better ...
August 3, 2014
Cons,No random play yet. Maybe I should oped for non-cloud version, but they were at the same price when I placed order. Will not auto start slideshow when SD card inserted.ProsCan handle 4000+ picture, possibly much more.Color is good, a little color shift to red but better than shift to blue.Auto-resume works as intended, resumes from where it left.Wishes,It could have a wood frame. I plan to add a wood frame to it and mount is on wall. This is the most suitable digital frame on the market, nothing is better now. Maybe manufacturers are not into these any longer, sad fact. After all, ipads or similar products can not be mounted on walls or put on desk all year long.
The start of a great product
June 13, 2014
I selected the Nixplay 15” cloud frame to replace my 10” Pixstar frame which itself was a replacement for a 1st generation Kodak network frame. I wanted the larger display and the ability to play 720p video. I’m very pleased with the hardware used for the Nixplay compared with these and other digital frames. With its 1024x768 image the Nixplay displays pictures and video beautifully. The colors are perfect, brightness and contrast are correct and with the LED display you get a really accurate reproduction of the images using very little power. I installed a 64Gb SD flash installed so there’s space for hours of video or thousands pictures. As far as the hardware this seems to be the best cloud frame on the market.Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the software and at this time I’m unable to give the frame a top 5-star recommendation due to some serious software design concerns. The Nixplay frame has the potential to be the best-of-breed product for all cloud-based photo displays but only with some corrections to the functionality. The main change needed is to the behavior of the frame when it restarts after being interrupted. I’m talking about the common daily interruptions like turning the frame off with the remote or when the motion-detection timer triggers a power-down or even just going back to the frame’s menu to change a setting. Unfortunately the frame does not remember its position and every time it is interrupted it always reverts to the first picture of the first slideshow. When restarted it should pick up from the same point it stopped, not defaulting back to the first slide. I cannot tell you how annoying it is to always see the first few pictures every time it comes on when you know you have several thousand images in numerous slideshows published to the frame. Each time the motion-detector turns the frame back on it actually teases you by showing a split-second view of the last image displayed and then immediately reverts to the first image every time. Why would you design it that way - it completely defeats the purpose of the motion detector.A frame of this quality could and should have much better control options. This is the start of a great product and the designers must realize the typical user is going to build up a large library of shows over time. Beyond a simple default setting that makes the frame resume the slideshow where it left off, it should also have more sophisticated controls. For one, the ability to build playlists of slideshows and a capability to schedule shows under clock control are needed. It should also support better modes of random-play operation like picking complete slideshows randomly instead of the simple shuffle-every-pcture mode. The Nixplay team appears to be responsive to customer's concerns on their web forum so I’ll be posting these feature requests there. If they can fix some of this I intend to purchase several more of them and at that time I’ll come back to upgrade this review.

Great Product
June 24, 2017
This is a great frame! I have one and purchased one for my parents...my critique is that the "kickstand" is garbage...it almost took away from the frame's greatness.... Anyways, everything else is solid...I usually just send pics directly from my phone and it works flawless. I would definitely purchase again!
Great image and easy uploading
May 18, 2017
This review is for the 15" frame. I chose the larger frame to accommodate my dad's macular degeneration. He has been very happy with it and has been able to see the uploaded pictures. The images are sharp and color saturated. I have the frame set up to load the pictures as original size which creates black bars top/bottom on landscape photos and to the sides of portrait photos. It does possess the ability to stretch to fill, as well as a number of other image display features. The ability to upload by email has been a real game changer, all of the kids can upload pictures and label them using the email subject line. The email address of the sender and the subject line display at the bottom of the image, which makes it super easy to identify photos if the sender will label them with the date, location, and event. I have the frame set up to automatically load so my parents don't need to do anything. Mom can use the remote to pause, backup, or fast forward through the pictures.I removed one star for the difficult time the frame has maintaining its Internet connection. It will still be connected to WiFi, but show disconnected from the 'Net. This happened on both my home Cox network and my parent's AT&T network. If you leave it alone it will eventually reconnect within five - ten minutes. All in all this digital frame has been a terrific addition for my family and I would buy it again.
Great for keeping it touch with remote family
January 14, 2017
It functions.I like:1) Frames get email addresses fo easy sending of pictures. Very quick and convenient sending, you can send multiple at once2) You can group multiple frames and the groups get its own email address, very cool3) A nice sound notification plays when you receive the picture and an envelope is displayed in the corner. The envelope also occasionally jumps on the center of the screen to make sure you don't miss a picture. (You could also set it into auto-accept mode but I like the notification part)4) Remote control is great to have, very convenient5) Motion detector is great (though my grandma still prefers to unplug the thing when she's not using it as she's afrad of electronics)6) Hardware is not of displeasing shape and design, stand is nice7) It's very cool and useful that you can configure other frames in your group remotely. This is great for an older relative who lives far away and when they want to adjust somethingI dislike:1) The UIs in both the frame and the online tool look like your dentist's software and were probably designed in the early 90s. Absolutely horrendous. It is obvious there was no one with "UX" in their title when this was constructed. That is the single reason for which I'm taking off a star.2) I wish there was a function to only display the last sent picture, you have to do albums. Not a biggy, I realize it's a very particular nit pick3) Light bleed is present but honestly I don't care so muchResume:Does help keep connected with your relatives, especially with the older ones who would find email/texting/apps daunting.Even for the younger ones (myself included), it's just great to have a dedicated device for picture exchange and have the pictures up withouth pulling out your phone or ipad. I have members of my family in 3 different locations, each thousands of miles apart and this device (I got 3 for each location) does help. Get it, you can live with the UX.
Highly recommended for elderly people
August 14, 2016
Great product especially for elderly people. Bought this for my mom who lives in Korea and is 75 years old. One of the best things about this frame is that you can email all your new pictures directly to the photo frame so there is no hassle with memory cards (although you can use a memory card as well). The only disadvantage I noticed were:1) No Korean language options (although the welcome page had Korean language saying "Welcome" in Korean)2) Interface is a little tricky and can be a little tedious trying to get the optimal settings3) Frame is NOT touch screen which would have made setup a lot easier; instead, had to use the remote which wasn't very responsive unless you aimed directly over the sensorOther than that, this is a great product and I would definitely recommend this!
A very useful cloud-based frame. Big, but convenient.
July 5, 2016
This picture frame is big. at 10" it takes of a fair amount of real estate on an end table. Beyond that it is really nice having the cloud features built into the frame. It is handy that you can link your Pix-star account to a cloud service and simply drop photos there. Once the Pix-star site rescans your linked site, the photos will start showing up on the frame.Set up and operation of the frame is a bit clunky using the menu structure. If you can get past that, it does a good job of what its intended for which is to show you your pictures. If you had one for a relative, it's got a nice feature of being able to send photos (be they mobile phone or computer based) directly to the frame via a designated e-mail address. So if you snap a great picture (or someone else does) it can be sent to the frame from the phone you used to take it with a few taps.My biggest complaint about the frame is not the manufacturer's fault. My biggest complaint is Apple's fault. The frame isn't able to link with Apple iCloud photo streams. This is due to restrictions Apple puts on its services. If Apple could just loosen their grip a bit, I wouldn't have any major complaints about this product.UPDATE: For unknown reasons the pix star website is not refreshing a web album from Shutterfly's website. It requires manually going to their website and clicking the refresh button to pull down new photos to the frame. The site clearly says that the web album will check for new photos periodically. However, it's not checking this one Shutterfly album. There's probably some coding that the company needs to update on their website. However, e-mailing photos to the frame still seems to be working just fine. So you can still email photos to your frame very easily.
Fantastic Frame! Newer models allow for HUE correction.
February 11, 2016
This a fantastic frame!I did a lot of research into which frame to buy and I was overwhelmed with the features of the Pix-Star frames. But, for all the bells and whistles, you buy a Digital Photo Frame to see pictures as if you were framing them to showcase in your home. So, picture quality was my topmost priority. That is where some of the reviews drew my attention away from the brand, specifically two issues:* resolution (800x600 seemed a little low), and* color temperature (many reviews claimed blue tint on most pictures compared to other devices like tablets and phones)As for issue #1, the 10.4 inch model has a resolution of 800x600, which, at the screen size, results in a 96dpi display. That matches the resolution of many LCD or LED monitors where you work on every day. For those looking into the 15" model, the dpi is a little less actually, even though the pixel count is higher, that is why I chose the 10". Of course, if you put your face a couple of inches away from the frame you will see the pixels, but at the normal viewing distance of 3 feet (1 meter), the frame's resolution is more than adequate, specially if the source image comes from a good source like a DSLR or a back-camera from a modern phone. Selfies and other images taken with lower-end cameras do suffer a bit more. Still, I deducted half a star because I really would have hoped for a 1024x800 or so display. I believe it would bring a lot of POP to the images. As for issue #2, I found a very useful post on Pix-Star website that claimed that as of November 2015 all models allow for HUE correction. I hopped for the best and ordered hopping that amazon would ship the newer model and, certainly enough, I got one with the HUE correction options (and the motion sensor). Still, the corrections are very 'broad' and I was unable to match my pro-grade DELL monitor factory calibrated color, but I was able to bring the much needed warmth to the skin tones quite a bit. Still, I shaved another half a star because, while now pleasing to the eye, the images still lack a bit of warmth. Perhaps a setting for cool - neutral - warm tones could be implemented via a firmware in the future?Still, the image quality is very, very good. Adding a little saturation and a little hue shift made the images much more natural and brought back the 'pop' that is reported as missing in some of the earlier reviews. One issue that is reported on the online reviews is the light bleed on the edges. I have to report that this is, sadly, true. While not at all an issue on a full image that fills the frame, if the image is in the opposite orientation and you are left with black stripes, the light bleed on the borders is very visible, specially if the ambient light is dim or null. If the ambient light is strong, it is hardly visible. That said, this does not detract on the quality of the image, but makes for a distraction at times. Not enough of an issue to hold my enthusiasm for the product. As for features, the Pix-Star is, by far, the best choice. In very little time I was able to put in a USB drive or SD card with my pictures, create the mail account to start sending photo emails to the device, and hooked up my favorite Facebook albums and my Google Drive folders where I keep my professional DSLR pictures. You can set the frame to show them all at once: local storage, memory cards, web albums (the only functionality not available in 'combo' view is the DLNA server approach, but I believe its an understandable compromise, I much rather have that option as well).I really believe this is the frame to go to. The Pix-Star site came as very intuitive, and the service is very interesting. I cannot help but to applaud the fact that they have replied to or helped almost all of the negative reviews here with genuine intention of helping and not just 'getting the issue out of the way'.Kudos to the company for such a dedication to customers.I would buy another one for my new home and gift others to my family if money were not an issue. The pix-star is also on the pricier side when comparing similar offerings, but I believe all the features more than make up for the price tag.Very happy with the purchase. Hope this review helps others that are on the fence as I was. It really is a great choice.

Meh for a generally meh product category

Minus one for being an imported item, circumventing our labor and environmental standards. Minus another for being a mediocre product. Perhaps this is the best 15" on the market, as I tried to find the best. Until Memento Smart Frame considers a smaller size (they're amazing but at 25" and 35" sizes), OLED enters this segment, or you repurpose a Microsoft Surface or iPad PRO, this is ok. It's too bright, making the black levels turn gray and contrast is poor. Shadow detail is crushed and also poor. I turned the brightness nearly all the way down which helps, and I might also add a matte black smoke film cover, but it's ok for now. I copied my ~4000 pictures onto a SD card and it seems to take it, although it takes minutes for it to read. I keep mine on a slow (1 hour per) rotation of pictures, as it's meant to be a picture frame, not a tv. I've not played yet with video bits either. Summary: it's ok, but if something higher resolution, deeper blacks, better software, better off-axis, less slave-labory shows up at higher prices I'll upgrade.
Somewhat disappointed
May 3, 2016
I was disappointed in how the device handles photos on a memory card. I put several folders of photos on the card but when I selected "all" I found you either had to select a specific folder OR put all the photos on the card at the same time. However, the frame worked very well on photos sent via the Internet. You could select all there. Photos uploaded very quickly to the frame. ..... The instructions need to be much larger.
Needing a rewrite of the instruction manual.

Bought this item for my elderly mother who cannot manage an IPad ( we tried). Thought this would be great and allow her to keep up with. The family pictures. I opened it to get it all set up for her before giving it. Frame seems very well made and not flimsy. Well constructed. However I became very frustrated trying to get it set up for the family members to email her pictures. Instructions were very scant and unhelpful. After much frustration and considering sending it back, we finally with several family members help figured out how to use it. It is not intuitive or explained very well at all. I think she will enjoy it, but entirely too complicated and frustrating.
Overly complex; also no app for Amazon Fire devices!!!

We have been using Kodak Pulse Wi-Fi frames for 5 years, so this review will mention the differences between Kodak and Nixplay. We gave a frame to each set of grandparents, and we regularly email new pictures directly to their frames throughout the year. Great way to satisfy grandparents' desire for new pictures without having to print them out and snail mail them new pictures. Kodak's service seems to have ended this year, so when Nixplay went on sale, it was time to give it a try. We purchased two of these 12" Nixplay frames plus an 8" Nixplay Edge.Nixplay prices are virtually identical to what we paid for 10" Kodak screens 5 years ago. We figured there must have been a lot of improvements along the way. The reality is that there isn't a lot of improvement, and unfortunately I like the Kodak better overall. Both Nixplay and Kodak let you log onto websites to upload pictures to your frames, or you can email pictures directly to the frames. But their implementations are different. Kodak's version was pretty basic, but it did everything we wanted very easily. When I wanted to add a picture, I would just email the picture to the address assigned to the Kodak frame, and I would put whatever I wanted for a caption as the subject line of the email. Within 10-15 minutes, the new photo would show up on the screen at the grandparents' house with my caption (caption could be turned on or off through Kodak's touchscreen interface).Nixplay has modeled their service after a photo sharing site, but it frankly doesn't work very well for 90% of people who just want to upload pictures to a frame easily and let the collection of pictures grow. Nixplay's approach is customizable by allowing (forcing?) you to group your pictures into albums and playlists (aka slideshows). The idea is you can choose which playlist you're in the mood for watching. Perhaps that is appealing to someone, but I see no use for it, and it comes at a cost of taking a very simple process and complicating it. It allows you to manage photos and have flexibility in what is displayed, but I personally have no interest in managing photos, and it means photos can and do get lost in the shuffle.General procedure: When you want to upload a bunch of pictures from a computer, you have to first create at least one album and one playlist, then upload the pictures to the album. Next step is to select pictures from that album and copy them into a playlist. You cannot upload the pictures directly to a playlist by design. No idea why. At some point, you need to publish the playlist to your frame. If you later add new pictures to your album, it doesn't update the playlist. After you add new pictures, you need to go into the album, select ONLY THE NEW PICTURES, and drag them onto the correct playlist. If you try just dragging all the pictures in an album into the playlist, then you would have two copies of all pictures (except the new ones).Nixplay allows directly emailing pictures to frames, but again they have complicated it. By default, you have to add friends through the website before they are allowed to email to your frame. And somehow that email has to be tied to the proper playlist, or the pictures will be received and saved, but won't be shown. You can specify which album and playlist you want the emailed picture to go to if you know (and remember) the names of the album and playlist. You do this by adding AL = and PL = statements into the subject line of the email, but if someone actually does actively manage the frame, sending to an inactive playlist could mean that you picture is never displayed. I don't believe there is a way for adding a caption to a picture you are emailing, which is a shame, as that often was a fun part of emailing pictures to the Kodak. (Please comment if anyone knows a way to do that.)Nixplay also allows for connection with various online sites like dropbox, flickr, Facebook,... I'd list them here, but Nixplay doesn't publish a list on their website. Sounds possibly useful, but from user tales from their support site, getting photos to the frame isn't automatic. More management of photos is necessary. Even if it is possible to make the transfer automatic, I'm not sure I really want everything I post to automatically go to the parents' frame. One nice feature that Nixplay did add is a motion sensor so the frame doesn't keep playing to an empty room. Both Nixplay and Kodak allow you to set a time for the frame to turn if at night and back on in the morning. Finally, Nixplay's lack of touchscreen is a little disappointing, but there are positives. Nixplay uses a remote control instead of a touchscreen. It also has buttons on the back of the frame which you can use if you don't hang it on a wall. The touchscreen is nice because it's always there, and the slideshow goes past a picture you want someone to see, you can just touch the screen to get it back. Positives for non-touchscreen: brighter, clearer picture, and cost of screen is lower. Also, if you're sitting at a table or on a couch, the remote is convenient, provided it doesn't get lost.Oh, and even though Nixplay seems to rely on Amazon for distribution and payment, the Amazon app store doesn't have the Nixplay app! That means that you can't use it with Amazon Fire tablets or phones. Not a huge loss. The android app on a Samsung phone sites allow you to upload pictures with captions, but it is very basic. You can still email pictures from your device if everything is set up right, but you can't add captions.Basically Nixplay is a nice frame hampered by an overly ambitious and complicated interface. It is workable, but here is no reason a Wi-Fi frame should be this complex. At the very least, they should have a "Grandparents Mode" enabled by default which would allow a simple way to have a frame that people far away could add pictures to, without having to have anyone manage it, and without the multiple steps required to add pictures through the website. Kodak's simple method would be a good example for them to follow. If you find this review helpful, please vote for it. I've spent way more time on it than I should have, and I hope someone benefits from it.
Awesome Photo Dispay but Nixplay Needs to overcome some Software Issues
March 3, 2015
I originally bought this frame from Amazon on January 3, 2015. I have all my photos saved by year in individual folders on a memory stick but based on others reviews I saw the frame would continuously scroll through the first folder and not move on to the next folder. I was ok with this because all of my memory stick photos I also had saved in Dropbox and I intended to link Dropbox to the Frame. Once I received the frame it was very easy to set up. For the set up process I plugged the frame in next to my computer. I connected it to our WIFI and then it will give you the serial number. From there I logged onto Nixplay.com, created an account and entered in the serial number. Once that is done you are ready to view photos. I did verify via memory stick that indeed the frame would continuously screen through only the first folder. I clicked on the Dropbox Icon within Nixplay's Website and linked my account to Dropbox. This is very easy and takes seconds to do. I was amazed by how beautifully vivid and sharp the photos on my frame were. This is my third frame and this display is the absolute best. The resolution is incredible and absolutely worth the money! Setting up the photos via Dropbox was fairly easy the way I have my photos saved. For each year I created a playlist so I ended up having 50 playlists. I have 1600+ photos that are saved in a folder by each year so my folders dated back to 1946 to 2014. What was really nice about Dropbox is once the playlists were created you could rearrange your photos how you wanted. I have always liked mine in chronological order. Both by year and then all the photos within each folder. I thought that was a nice feature. I was able to do this on my hard drive as well as memory sticks until we replaced our computer last year with Windows 8 which doesn't allow you to rearrange anything now. Once I got all the playlists up and running I was ready to view on the frame. I was very happy with everything until I realized half my photos were missing from the year 2014. I ended up sending an email to Nixplay Customer Service. This is where things started going downhill. Nixplay has a linking problem with Dropbox so even though they advertise this as an option at this time it does not work properly so you can view all your photos. I am not sure if Facebook, Picasa etc have the same issue. I reached out to Nixplay on January 7th, 2015 and I am still waiting for thier patch to go through to resolve this issue. I was first told to give them two weeks which I was ok with. Four weeks later still no resolution so I ended up sending the frame back to Amazon. In the meantime I ordered a PixStar Frame but when I received it and got it hooked up the picture quality was all washed out and I knew I would not be happy with that frame at all. So I sent that one back and ordered the NixPlay Frame again but this time directly from the company so if they could not work out the Dropbox Issue I could get a refund directly from them.Long story short it is now March 2nd and the Dropbox issue is still not resolved and the frame says I have 9% left of the internal memory with just 1600 photos. So I decided to go back to my memory stick and use this on the Nixplay Frame instead. This meant I had to pull all of my photos out of the folders and then go through and put them in numerical order starting with the number 1. What Nixplay didn't tell me was if you start with number 1 this will work until you hit 100-199 and 1000-1009. Then these all get mixed in together after you hit 100. At this point I was beside myself but I was determined to have my photos in chronological order. So I started with #2000 and ended up at #3700. This finally worked. Everything now is in chronological order and since I am using a memory stick I don't have to worry about running out of internal space. I have had it up and running to my specifications for 3 days now and I absolutely love it. The photos have incredible resolution as I stated and are very crisp, bright and sharp. Even my husband likes it and he generally never comments on things like this. Also, if you display your photos via Dropbox the vertical photos are displayed correctly. If you use a memory stick the vertical photos will either display either sideways or upside down. For me this only happened for photos taken in 2014 only. I suspect again this has something to do with the new Windows 8 computer. You can fix this buy right clicking on the photo and clicking on edit. Once you do that rotate your photo. On my husbands laptop the photos came through sideways so he only had to click rotate 90 degrees once. On my computer the photos on the stick were displayed correctly so I had to press rotate 90 degrees 4 times. It makes no sense but guess what? It worked. If you plan on using Dropbox just be aware there could be some issues. It sounds like this has been a known problem so in my opinion this should be taken out of the frame description or consumers should be told up front that this is an issue.Setting up WIFI and playlists are very easy. You can be up and going in less than 30 minutes.I did not think I would care for the matte frame but I actually really like it and you can barely see the logo. The PixStar frame was shiny and I did not care for that at all.I was concerned about the leg that supports the frame really holding the frame up but this has not been an issue. The frame has a little slot in the back to store the remote control which I though was an awesome feature.Depending on the type of camera you use will depend on if you have a black strip at the top and bottom. I set my frame on photo fit to screen option. Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5 - will leave an inch thick black bar at both the top and the bottom. Pentax Digital Point and Shoot - The picture is viewed in full with this camera. Not black bars. Pentax DSLR - 1/4 inch black bar on top and bottom.I have a bunch of scanned photos from the 40's through 60's where the hard copy is about a 3 inch by 3 inch. The nice thing about this frame is it displayed them to where the whole screen was almost used. On the PixStar frame it was also 3*3 on the frame. The motion sensor is a really nice feature. I did not have that before. When registering, when they ask for your user name for their website only type in your user name (ex: cat) don't enter in (cat@nixplay.com). It took me 10 minutes to figure this out. If you did it wrong it will say invalid user id.The remote control is frustrating. The share button is not up and running yet. The delete button does not work or I could not get it to work. The rotate and save function for vertical photos that are sideways works only in that minute. The next time you see the photos it will be sideways again. Not sure the mobile application is really needed. It is really basic and could be done on your phone with your regular email in my opinion especially if you have it set up for you to review before it goes to the frame.Overall, for the photo quality I would have loved to give this frame a 5 star but due to software issues I am bumping it down to a 3. I am curious to see when exactly the Dropbox feature will be fixed.
Nice Frame - Buggy Cloud Feature
October 15, 2014
There's only one reason why this didn't get a higher score from me: the Cloud service. The primary feature that influenced me purchasing it was the email to frame option - my brother and I wanted this in order to send pictures easily to our elderly mother.I followed the setup an account creation steps exactly - I'm no techy novice and this was not rocket science. However, no matter what I tried any pictures sent did not show up in the Nixplay cloud and therefore weren't pushed to the frame. I started a tech support case via email and after a couple of exchanges where they try to get you do what the manual says (already done) the agent said he was going to send a test picture to the account.Like magic it appeared - I then sent the pictures that previously did not work and they auto-magically appeared on the Nixplay cloud and the frame.Bottom Line: Expect to contact tech support right off the bat to get this feature to work - I have a sinking feeling that they rolled out the service before it was ready and now have to manually intervene to get things to work.

Not as easy as the package claims

Nice monitor but when I saw “Wi-Fi enabled” and for the price tag for this photo frame, I’m thinking sweet I’ll send pics from my phone and it will sync up automatically. Bought as a gift and had like a day to get it together and wrap it up.I’m a 9/10 in terms of figuring out technology. This..was annoying. No touch screen so before you hookup the remote or Wi-Fi - you have to look over the screen to click the up down left right select buttons (super fun for letter number mixes in your password). Then there’s the online setup to create your account, email photos to your pixstar account (try 200 pics - most phones cap at 30MB per email), fix the syncing setup, add music, and change transitions. #eyerollListen, I might be wrong...there could be an easier way that I missed so it you have the time, go for it.In my mind, pictures —> frame in 2017 should be: turn frame on, connect, transfer files.
Image quality a bit lacking
May 13, 2017
I did my research and this was supposed to be one of the best on the market. Have to say I was disappointed in the quality of the screen/image. It definitely is nowhere near the quality you'd see on a tablet or laptop screen. I was planning to buy more if I loved it, but I do not. It's ok but for the price I would've expected higher quality screen. 5-10 years ago I'd think the screen looks pretty standard for such a device. But today it seems somewhat outdated. When you look at the quality of screen/image you get with a $49 Kindle Fire, it just seems somewhat disappointing to have your photos shown on this.
Great frame, easy to use....BUT
March 18, 2017
Great frame; however, I would love the ability to show photos in the same order as I have them in my album. These pictures tell a story about my family and make absolutely no sense when played randomly.
Good picture frame but has old outdated weather information
March 11, 2017
I purchased the 10.4 inch version of this Pix-Star picture frame. The good thing about this picture frame is it can be updated remotely with new pictures through its Wi-Fi connection and it can use some of the picture services out there such as Google, although I don't see any support for Amazon Prime photos. The pictures are relatively clear but are not high resolution as the display specs are 800 x 600. What I don't like is its weather forecasts are not updated often and I see weather information that are over 10 hours old, such as the temperature in my city I don't see any options to increase its weather update frequencies other than to turn it off or on. I hope Pix-Star can fix this weather update issue by giving more frequent weather updates so the weather information is more accurate.
Good if you put it close to your router
January 19, 2015
I returned this item because it would not stay connected to my wifi. If I moved it closer to the router, it worked fine--but that's not where I want to put the frame.Close to your router--you'll love it. More than 30 feet away and passing through a couple of walls, not so much.
Does not work on wireless systems that require a web-based authentication
January 10, 2014
I love this produce and purchased it for my father who is paralyzed. However, he is unable to use it at his current location because their wireless requires a web-paged based log-in (like a hotel, where you have to go online to enter in the user name and password).I contacted customer service and they were prompt and courteous, despite delivering the news that they could not help me. The only way around it to get the IT person at the location to bypass this for you, but that's not going to happen at, I would guess, 99% of places.

Great resolution - REALLY disappointed in features, functions, and updates.
March 26, 2017
The display quality is very good, and the options for display (random, slideshow type, order, etc) is easy to adjust. However, after having this for a few months and trying to MANAGE my pictures I have found the application on the website is almost useless - along with their developers. I did a quick search for copying or moving pictures in a playlist is NIL. Let me explain - I have a playlist of over 500 pictures, I can email to it (and friends can too - IF I set them up in advance, and select the correct playlist). Now let's say I want to add pictures through the web interface (say dozens from a photoshoot or friend). Well you can't directly add to a playlist (or move or copy a photo, only delete a photo from your playlist). So the only way I've found to manage is to build an new album called NEW PICTURES. Add the pictures to the album, and then once done drag the album to the playlist. Once done you need to delete all the photos in NEW PICTURES to prepare for the next time you want to mass upload, otherwise you'll double your pictures, and fill your playlist quickly (limited to 1000 pictures). So about those developers - several requests have been made over the last 3-4 years to fix this issue and the answer is always - we've put in the request (and apparently all requests are placed in the circular file under the desk). There is also a request to add OneDrive, 3 years ago, and yes they say it's coming. But hey they have Flickr and Verizon Cloud. I"ve used PixStar frames as well, and I will say they are least still in development mode. Apparently Nix is just building frames using 3-4 year old software in maintenance mode.
Not a good buy for someone who is not very computer literate.
February 17, 2017
I thought this product would set up like an email account and that if people sent you pictures it would automatically load them into this account and pop up on your photo screen. I was very mistaken. This product is a good product if you are buying it for yourself and you know how to setup, access and transfer items from Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, Picasa, etc.. However, if you are purchasing it for someone who is not super computer literate it is not a good purchase as you have to have set up all those accounts and know how to transfer items from one account to the other. I bought this for my in-laws since they have many grandkids and great grandkids spread all across the USA, so everyone could send pictures to them and the pictures would just pop up on their frame. The problem is that they are not computer literate enough to get all the pictures where they want them to go. I'm going to try to figure out a way to make it easier for them.
Get the non-Wifi Advance model (X15D) instead!
August 23, 2016
We ordered the Nixplay 15" Wifi version (W15A); I found the setup clunky (it forces you to connect to Wifi first, then to create a Nixplay account even if you only want to use the USB). Also, the Flickr upload function is frustrating: you can only copy 1000 pics at a time (per "library") and it is not a real streaming service, i.e. when adding pics to the Flickr Photostream it doesn't add them automatically to Nixplay, you have to manually "copy" then on nixplay.com. Useless.Good news is that we then ordered the non-Wifi Advance model (X15D) and it's great, we love it (see my review in that product page if you want).
Wanted to like it, but would not buy again (too buggy!)
April 13, 2015
I really wanted to love this frame. I bought two, one for a family member who is not very tech savy, and one for my office. The display is really high quality. The pictures are crisp, clean and bright. The problem is that the wireless synching just doesn't work very well. To date I have spent hours and hours reloading photos on this frame (I have had it for several months). The frame rarely pics up all of hte albums I have scheduled to sync, and then it also regularly experiences technical issues where it can't connect to the server or deletes albums when it sleeps, or just generally gets gunked up. It will be working fine one day, then a few days later I will come into my office and the frame will not be able to access any of the pictures. Sometimes they are no longer accessible from the nixplay website (multiple albums will have exclamation points next to them and I will have to re-upload). At this point I wish I had bought old school, less expensive digital frames. Again, I love the idea of the functionality (email loading pictures, wireless photo library management) but in my opinion, this frame just doesn't get you there. (I actually did contact nixplay customer service at one point and told me a patch to fix the "sleep problem" would be released sometime in the next several weeks...that's it. Not great customer service either....)
Not Ready For Prime Time
January 4, 2015
As many have said about this frame, it's not "Ready For Prime Time". Here's my reasons why:The picture is "OK", but not $170 OK. Contrast ratio is poor and I could not get a real black on the screen without it being too dim to view. I knew the resolution was not the greatest from the specs, but if the black level issue were better I think the resolution would be fine. The lack of a true black just accentuates the lower resolution. The remote control is frustrating at best and must be aimed exactly at the sensor to work. This would be OK, except the sensor is on the bottom front of the screen and if the frame is placed on a table you have to be very precise with your aim or the table interferes. When you have the time and date displayed on the screen the date never changes. You have to exit the slide slow and restart it to get the date to change. It will exit to the menu screen on it's own for no reason at all. It's totally obvious that the frame uses Android as it's operating system especially when looking at any screen except the slide show. This is not a bad thing necessarily, but I didn't pay $170 for an oversize, feature reduced tablet. If the frame would stay in the slideshow and not randomly go back to the menu it wouldn't be as big of a deal. But I don't want to walk into a room and see an Android tablet sitting where my picture frame should be. I could buy an older tablet and a monitor for less than $170 if that's what I wanted. I expected a purpose built device that hides the underlying internals and gives a "Picture Frame" experience, not a buggy tablet one.The remote has a key to delete the picture on the screen, but it appears to do nothing, at least not when displaying pictures loaded to Nixplay's website. The Nixplay web site has some minor irritations also, but is usable and is a nice feature. It is what saved this product from only getting 1 star from me.Please note that before buying this frame I had bought a ViewSonic 8-Inch Digital Photo Frame (VFD820-70) for my daughter for Christmas. It was that frame that inspired me to get a frame for myself. If you can deal with a smaller frame I would recommend that one 100% I was hoping this one would be a larger, nicer, product than the ViewSonic, but that was not to be.I'm returning this and buying the components to make my own based on the ViewSonic's features.
social media fail
December 10, 2014
After I bought this frame for myself and my in-laws, I discovered that the Dropbox support was limited to manual interactions. It is not currently possible to tie the frame to a Dropbox folder and have it automatically synchronize as new pictures are added to the folder. And this is true of all social media integrations they currently have. The only thing that automatically adds the picture to the frame is the frames personal email address. Everything else requires user interaction on a website, which is inconvenient at best. In addition the smartphone app doesn't allow you to manage a nixplay account, only makes it only slightly more convenient to email a picture to a frame. Overall, I would not suggest this until they have a true integration with social media albums.

Frame was ok, but the Nixplay Edge was much better.
October 15, 2016
Colors were off. Online interface left much to be desired. Wasn't sure if color issue was a defect, but assumed so and sent it back (thanks for the quick service Amazon). Ordered 8" Nixplay Edge instead. Even though at roughly the same price point the 8" Edge had much better colors, and the online interface to remotely control the frame were MUCH better!
Does not work for very long and terrible support.

Expensive for a little more than a year of usability. For a year it worked fine then it began to have problems storing photos emailed to it. Email showed as received but did not save / display the photo. I tried the "fixes", re-starting re-positioning the frame and my router. Their "tech Support" parroted back the same "fixes" from their cue cards with no improvement. Several months later, the unit stopped displaying pictures, it would show the re-start screen and go to black and stay there.
I bought this for my mom for her January Birthday ...
February 18, 2016
I bought this for my mom for her January Birthday, once I went to visit and she opened it we discovered the remote does not work. I came back to the site to contact seller and see if they can replace remote and see no way to contact or do anything about the issue....VERY FRUSTRAGED.We have changed batteries and tried all that the book suggest now stuck.
WARNING - Does not use 5Ghtz wifi frequency.
December 5, 2015
I purchased this unit based on all of its wonderful reviews and elaborate description of its capabilities, but as soon as I received I could not use it on my network. My home wifi network broadcasts in 5Ghtz which this unit CANNOT use. It can only use 2.4Ghtz, per customer support. I am rating the product low for this reason especially since nowhere in the product specs can I locate this information. I'm highly annoyed that I can't find this out without contacting customer support. I use 5Gtz to connect all my devices because it makes the Internet run faster on them. It's the only way for example that I can play Netflix shows at an acceptable download speed. So now I have two choice - return the frame or upgrade my router to a concurrent dual band broadcaster for about the same price as the frame itself. UGH!
There are better choices

This frame is ok - the picture quality is good and it was easy to set up. The downfalls to it are - the remote causes random reactions with other electronic frames and the online aspects are horrible. I have been unable to download a software upgrade because the frame will not stay connected to the network long enough to complete the action. Uploading pictures to the website is intermittent at best - not worth the time and aggravation. I would not buy this brand again. I have a Samsung, HP and Nix brand that are all better.
Doesn't work as advertised.
June 28, 2014
I bought this frame for my elderly parents to be able to share pictures with them from the rest of the family while we are all out and busy with our lives. They have had it for a month and I am still trying to get it to work as advertised. The wifi will not connect automatically to their iphone hotspot. I did contact the customer support and did not receive a reply for 4 days and not until I contacted them again. At that point I got a very rude email about how they did reply and it wasn't their fault I didn't get the email! Well, the frame is still not connecting to wifi automatically and I am not located close to my parents to help them figure out why. I will keep everyone posted on how this plays out!

Flaky Interface on Setup - Failed to Allow Setup
March 2, 2017
First, let me say that I am one of those people with a lot of patience.....but even I exhausted all possible. The problem? A flaky interface. I'm a techy person and love electronics so troubleshooting is no problem, usually. This device comes with a remote to allow you to scroll thru an onscreen keyboard for entering the wifi password. Remember those? A pain but, with a little patience, you can usually get through it. The remote was sticky or not working at all when trying to select onscreen key alpha-numeric entries. So, the wrong password was entered because of this...but the software tried move ahead anyways....and got into an infinite loop of trying to download software updates, followed by telling me it failed (remember the wrong password entry), followed by my attempt to re-enter the password, followed by another failed attempt and another software cycle. The remedy should have been to use the "on device" buttons located on its backside. So, I tried those. Because they are mounted on the back side, I was busy switching between looking at the back side to be sure I was pushing the correct button and looking at the display to see if the entry was made correctly. This was extremely frustrating (but, I admit, I understand they probably thought they were doing the right thing by putting the buttons on the back for aesthetics). So, while trying to enter the password, the device buttons were sticking and the password entry not correct and the same vicious cycle began again. To make matters even worse, the device started acting funky by jumping to the next software command (update software) before letting me enter the password completely...and starting that same vicious failed cycle.----Worst part of this whole exercise is that I was not able to start installation until after the return date expired. After all, it was a gift for Grampa, mailed to him and setup had to wait until we visited. Now I'm out $160.

I just received this product today. There's no manual. There's no remote control. This unit is not brand new and already used since there's already photos of some family when I turned it on... I am very disappointed. Here's the photo on the info of previous owner.
Stopped working, just prior to 1 year. Customer service not responsive, despite it still being under warranty.
December 16, 2016
This was a Christmas present for my 80 year old father last year. He is an engineer and can handle most anything technology related, so, when it stopped working this past week, we were quite certain he could figure it out in short order. Unfortunately, he can't solve it, and spent 40 minutes on hold waiting to get through to a live service person. They spent a bit of time trouble-shooting, and when they could not figure it out, instead of helping him with a replacement under the 1 year warranty, they said they would check on some other options and call him back. Needless to say, a day later, and no return phone call. I am disappointed, given that I paid over $200 for the 12" frame, and the warranty is about to expire. Please consider these customer service issues, given that, in the event that the frame does fail, you may have limited recourse from the manufacturer even during the warranty period.
Who on the web site team at Nixplay thought it would be a good idea to obscure the account login/creation buttons on mobile
May 6, 2016
I am leaving this review here in frustration with the setup process. Perhaps other deserves more than one star but for me it is zero stars because I can't create an account.Who on the web site team at Nixplay thought it would be a good idea to obscure the account login/creation buttons on mobile? Seriously the entire mobile website is one giant advertisement. I already bought your product now let me create an account, log in, and use it before I return it.
This is absolutely the worst product experience I have ever had with my purchases
January 26, 2016
This is absolutely the worst product experience I have ever had with my purchases. I owned this product for 2 weeks before the frame stopped working. I send an email through the customer service link indicating that I would like a call and ended up[ exchanging emails with a customer service rep. I find this ridiculous because it is very hard to describe the issue(s) that you are having with the frame. After finally (hopefully) getting this figured out, still having issues. I am beyond fed up with this frame. I am beyond fed up with trying to deal with customer service. I was just hoping to buy something that would allow my wife and I to get pictures of our granddaughter who lives 1800 miles away. Instead I have wasted my time, energy and money of this product. No I would not recommend this product to anyone. Do not waste your money on it, there are better options out there. I just wish I had chosen one of those options over this.
Broken seals

Purchased two of them and both boxes had 'do not accept if deal is broken' stickers. They were both peeled off. While technically not broken I am wondering if I've received a couple rejects.

It is absolutely the MOST FRUSTRATING thing to set up ever!
October 19, 2017
I want to hurl this against the wall! It is absolutely the MOST FRUSTRATING thing to set up ever! It has no touch screen and the buttons to scroll around the menus are on the back so it takes FOREVER to set it up. The menus are confusing and trying to input a wifi password is crazy! Heaven forbid you should get a letter or number wrong - you have to basically start over. That said, the only saving graces of this frame is the picture is good and the motion sensor is handy. I would not waste your money on this. Get one with a touch screen!!

Nothing but trouble
April 21, 2017
I am very disappointed with this product. First I had trouble registering the product when I got it. The web page would not respond. Tried to contact customer service and they only have an email. Finally figured out that couldn't pull the web page up on wifi, had to be actually connected to cable. Got that all taken care of, only to find that my "frame couldn't access the internet" even though it was connected to the wifi. So photos would not load to the frame. Again I email the company and after several exchanges I am told they don't know why my frame can not access the internet and that I need to reconfigure my router despite the fact that all of my other devices have no problem accessing the internet. Anyway after spending over a day emailing and no resolution, I decided it shouldn't be this hard and I would rather just try another brands frame. Very disappointed as I was really excited about getting this wifi frame.
Digital Frame had a shorter lifespan than a Mayfly!
August 19, 2016
Orderered this frame due to all the (supposedly) good reviews. Just received the frame, powered it up and inserted an SD card with pictures on it. Frame worked well for about 1 1/2 hours, then all of a sudden it just died. I moved the power supply to a different outlet (even though I know the outlet was working because a lamp was working from the same outlet). Frame still would not power up from the second and then a third outlet. Cycled the power switch several times, and unplugged/re-plugged in the power connector several times too...No joy!So, while this thing wasn't DOA, it had a MUCH SHORTER working lifespan than a Mayfly (much less than 24 hours). This was supposed to be a gift given at a good friend's retirement ceremony tonight, but I guess I'll just be saying something nice now. Unbelievable.
This is the worst frame I have ever used
June 27, 2016
I have had this digital frame for 2 years and was only now able to get it to work. Every time I tried it would lock up and not stream photos. Well I kind of got it to work. It gets 1/2 way through the USB and goes back to menu, then starts over at the beginning. It only has back buttons so you have to bounce up and down the buttons, blindly, to work the menu, which doesn't ever seem to get anywhere functional. This is the worst frame I have ever used. If you love constant fidgeting to get a gadget to work as design, then this is for you. Me, I find it annoying and regret the purchase.
Disappointed in photo quality
June 26, 2016
The set up of this digital picture frame was easy and quick. Unfortunately, after sending three different pictures from three different devices, via email, to the picture frame all of the pictures lacked color, contrast and clarity. Despite attempted adjustments I was unable to improve the quality of the photos.
