Five Star Reviews: | 75% Absolutely NO Fishy Taste or Burps September 11, 2017 Easy to swallow, and leaves absolutely no fishy after taste. I have taken several different brands of fish oil, and they normally all have some sort of fishy after taste or burps. I have not had any fishy burps or tastes with this product. Directions say you take one pill with a meal, up to 3 times daily. Roughly a 2 month supply. This is a great product at a great price! Trusted Brand - Wholesale Cost September 4, 2017 I bought this when GNC lowered there mg per pill. They told me there is no reason to take a higher dose, but I can physically see and tell the difference in my body. Mainly my hair/skin. It has not fishy bumps. The pills are on the large size but easy to swallow. I take one per day Monday-Friday and bought this on May 22nd 2017. I still have pills left which is great! I like that when I do need more and can place it on my s & s acct. ON is a brand I trust and my gym now sells. These fish oil caplets don't cause burping July 13, 2017 We've been looking for a good quality fish oil & came along Optimum Nutrition. Since the other Amazon reviews were so good we decided to give them a try. My partner & I will have our my annual health screens in the fall & will update once blood work comes back. On a positive note, these fish oil caplets don't leave a bad taste or cause burping like other fish oils we've taken. NO fish burps. My third bottle December 4, 2016 Does exactly what it's supposed to do with ZERO fish burps. This is my third bottle. When I take this with my vitamins consistently I feel better. I trust Optimum Nutrition for most of my supplement needs. I am certain that I feel better when I am taking this consistently November 15, 2016 After a year of using this, I am certain that I feel better when I am taking this consistently. Clearer head, less joint pain. Five Stars September 30, 2016 enteric-coated is the way to go. no aftertaste. have ordered/used 10+ bottles | 75% Better for my body and health. August 24, 2017 I have been using this for years for heart health and also to help with joint pain and aches. On the days I have forgotten to take it, there is a difference in how I feel overall. As for "fish burps", I take mine after a meal to help digest it easier and eliminate this problem. This is something I have even given my dog on regular basis, after my Vet said it was a good idea, as my dog is getting older. Seems good to me. September 7, 2016 The gell caps are easy to swallow even though they are fairly large. No odd taste or smell that I can notice. Some people complain of "fish burps" with fish oils - I've never tried other oil to compare it to, but I've never had any issue with these. Quality fish oil July 28, 2016 Pros:Quality, authentic fish oilLarge quantityWell made and easy to swallowCons:Not coated, so your burp will smell like fishThe pills can get a bit soft if left out or if you live in a humid environment, which makes it feel like they might break. Leonard says this is a buy. December 27, 2015 I take these daily. Fish oil isn't something you feel, but hopefully I'm steering my Omega 3:6 ratio in a better direction using them. My wife gets some fish burps with them, so she takes Krill oil instead of these. I don't get fish burps from them at all though. The biggest benefit is that the oil is from small fish (sardines) so there's no real danger of mercury, which is a real concern for fish oil. This is definitely a buy! Essential Ingredients, Great Quality, Great Value April 23, 2015 I have always been impressed with Kirkland products, and this one is no exception. Kirkland is the store brand of Costco, which carries products that tend to higher-end and higher quality than clubs like Sam's Club, to begin with. The Kirkland brand products are designed and manufactured to be of slightly better or much better quality than the name brand - and with a typically much lower price. I have never have a problem with any Kirkland Signature brand products, including this one.I do get the slight "fishy" aftertaste. The capsules, although kind of large, are easy to swallow and I have had no digestive reactions. This product offers the essential Fatty 3 products (EPA and DHA) at a great value. Other fish oils either don't have these or, if they do, are much more expensive per dose. Plus, this has the Kirkland Signature quality! I take this everyday and consistently reorder. A GREAT DEAL March 2, 2015 A great deal on a whole lot of fish oil. I give two a day to my older dogs. Combined with a glucosamine supplement it I could really see the difference. My dogs are 200 pounds with some arthritis and they are now running around like they did years before. Note: I searched ebay and amazon for a good priced chewable supplement for dogs and found most are a huge ripoff. Today at Walmart found a huge bottle of the store brand for under ten dollars and they have 500 mg of glucosamine per pill, much more than the others. I take glucosamine but not the condroiten myself since I am a vegetarian. Condroiten is made from cows and glucosamine is made from shellfish unless you specifically get the Hsi glucosamine which is fermented (non animal). Also be sure to take msm (sulfer) with glucosamine or it won't work well. They add it to some supplements and I think you can buy it separately as well. |
Four Star Reviews: | 15% These are not bad at all October 4, 2017 I have taken fish oils in the past and mostly they're just flat out gross. The aftertaste generally is the reason behind that. You just take them for the health benefits. These are not bad at all. No obvious scent or taste about them. I have yet to experience any aftertaste. They seem to work as intended. I give them 4 stars because you are supposed to take 3 pills a day which seems a bit excessive and if you are regularly busy like me you may forget to take them. Plus taking 3 a day means one pill does not have even close to the total amount of supplements from these that you need in a day. So my suggestion is if you were to get these make sure you are going to take all 3 pills each day otherwise they will likely be useless. Great quality and value August 8, 2017 Big fan of ON products. Great quality and value. The coating is almost vanilla tasting. Only get fishy taste if I have a hot liquid to quickly afterwards. Good stuff August 8, 2016 No fish burps. Don't make my stomach upset. I can't speak to the efficacy of the product since I don't really feel a difference. (I take a lot of vitamins) Sometimes this product causes me some acidity and feel the ... June 2, 2016 Sometimes this product causes me some acidity and feel the taste of fish oil but has contributed a lot in my training helping me to reduce my body fat faster than usual. No fishy aftertaste! Just right for me and you. November 18, 2015 This isn't the #1 supp but since Jym's isn't on here this will have to do. I really like the size of the capsules and the fact that there's no fishy aftertaste like some others I've had in the past. Take 3x with 3 of your meals — I take mine for breakfast, 3rd/4th meal, and 6th meal (shake) before bed. | 14% good price on good product and happy with purchase July 18, 2017 good price on good product and happy with purchase. Would recommend if you are in the market for fish oil. Delivery and price are excellent and I do not notice any negative attributes July 15, 2017 Delivery and price are excellent and I do not notice any negative attributes, except for the size of the capsules. The size is truly daunting. The attached photo shows a fish oil capsule adjacent to a 325 mg aspirin tablet, a 200 mg ibuprofen tablet and a quarter. I would find it worthwhile to take more capsules that were of a smaller size, even if the cost was higher. Decent purchase/Big Pill to swallow January 8, 2016 I actually purchased these for my dog (boxer) to improve his dry skin. It does work for him but I was taken back by the enormous size of this pill. If I had to take this pill I don't think I could/would, and it is recommended that you should take 3 pills a day. It is much larger than previous fish oil supplements I have purchased for him. Of coarse he has no problems swallowing them down! I think for the money this supplement is a decent purchase but just be aware the pills are pretty big. Solid Basic and Affordable Option April 1, 2015 Pros:-Extremely cost efficient.-Credible basic source of fish oil.Cons:-Low potency requires multiple capsule doses.-Basic gelatin capsule means possible brief fish aftertaste.Overall: This is a go-to product if you're looking for basic, affordable fish oil supplementation. If you are concerned with the number of capsules you'll be taking, the potency, or coating to prevent brief fish aftertaste, consider looking at the higher price ranged fish oils. Also consider other options if you are vegetarian or strict Kosher. Helps with dry-eye (would you believe?) January 15, 2015 A few years ago I gave up on fish oil for arthritis and cholesterol. But my eye doctor suggested fish oil for dry-eye. He wanted me to buy an exceedingly ultra-pure version but I did some online research and although opinion is not unanimous, it seems that any kind will do. The capsules smell a bit fishy in the jar but my wife tells me they don't make my breath smell bad. (And I appreciate her participating in this olfactory experiment.)http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/dry-eyes/basics/definition/con-20024129 |
Three Star Reviews: | 6% About that no "Fish Burps"... July 12, 2017 Many have noted that they have zero "Fish Burps". I wish I could say the same. About 50% of the time I do end up having them. Your mileage may vary. Mixed Feelings, decent products. January 18, 2016 Just recently got into the realm of fish oil pills at the persistent advice of a friend who is a naturopath. This means that when deciding on what to get, I knew that I should try pills with high DHA/EPA levels, for optimal results. At first I started taking a triple strength, Nature’s Own, but despite my skin looking fantastic, the derivatives that are used for those pills seriously got my stomach in knots almost every day i was taking them. I then tried these Optimum Nutrition Fish Oil, 300 MG, 200 Softgels, and they gave me no burps, but I didn’t feel an immediate difference in my body. Over a couple of weeks I noticed more mobile joints and a stable mood that elevated the effects of another supplement I’m taking. I take Nootropx - Ultimate Brain Vitamin for Limitless Brain - Mental Focus and Concentration with Memory Enhancement Supplement - Unlock Your Brain Potential and Improve Memory Power ( 90 Caps) concurrently with the Fish Oil pills, (they’re for focus and clarity) and the effects of those pills seem to be enhanced by my taking the Optimums. The reason I only give the optimums 3 stars is that even though it’s been a few weeks, I still haven’t seen the same potency in results that I did when I was taking the triple strength pills. So they work, but not that well, and they don’t bother my stomach, which I guess is worth it. Basically, there are better products out there, but dependent upon the sensitivity of your stomach, they may be the right pills for you. I like this brand very much April 25, 2015 I like this brand very much, but I was not happy with my last purchase. The top cover was unsealed. First time I see this. Please make sure when you buy one you check the quality of packaging. still taking don't know if working or not but vitamins ... October 11, 2014 still taking don't know if working or not but vitamins are part of my life. Just hope they are making a difference | 6% Just okay June 3, 2017 While this is a huge amount of fish oil and would be a great deal, my husband swears they're not as good as others he has tried in the past. Cheap fish oil... November 21, 2015 These Fish Oil capsules are very big to swallow. I never got the feeling that these were helping me, so I have switched to the much better Krill Oil. My Newfoundland Loves them. January 25, 2014 I used to take this brand of Fish Oil until the package got warm during the summer and all the capsules molded into one. I now give this brand to my dog daily which her vet recommended and will continue to buy them for her. They are in-expensive and she loves the taste when she bites and pops them open. When I was taking them I often would have a burpy after taste. I switched to Barleans organic orange flavor fish oil for myself and I have never had that after taste and they never have become attached to each other. I will continue to buy Barleans for myself. No enertic coating May 31, 2013 The price was right for this fish oil purchase. However, I probably skimmed the information too quickly. 300 mg of omega-3 is good and pretty typical these days. Getting omega-3 from fish is a great way to do so, but I don't like fish. I won't eat it, can't stand the smell of it cooking, and often walk out of seafood restaurants if the smell is too great. So for me, having that enertic coating is a must. For those who don't know, the enertic coating allows the pill (and therefore the fish oil) to pass through your stomach and into your small intestines. This allows for digestion to occur there rather than the stomach and effectively eliminates fish-burps and other fishy nastiness. While this was my own mistake for not reading enough to see that there was, in fact, no coating, I feel that fish oil supplements have been around long enough for the enertic coating to be utilized all the time. These are great pills, and if you don't mind the fishy burp every once in awhile (eat a meal just before or after taking your dose to reduce burp probability) these will do ya just fine. |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% Two Stars January 16, 2017 I have no idea if this stuff works. Been buying it for years........don't know why Get what you pay for March 1, 2015 The price is low for a reason - there are only 300mg of EPAs and DHAs. I had to take nearly 8 of these each day to hit my goal.If you are taking these and actively working out I would recommend LifeExtension instead. time to find another brand January 28, 2015 i agree with what the others are saying!1. the fact that they don't display the amount of EPA and DHA is "fishy" ;)2. the total amount of fatty acids is only 300 mg which is way less than most of the other brands per soft gel3. i burp when i take themgoing to have to find another brand for my fish oils. as always, big brands like ON don't care about their customers' health, only their money. what else is new! Heartburn feeling March 29, 2014 This product causes me to experience a heartburn feeling, as well as a discomfort in the chest region. Will not reorder. bad fishy smell February 21, 2014 Product got fishy smell real fast on two bottles. Not sure what's happening but have bought before and never had this problem. Optimum Fish Oil? Uh, no September 25, 2013 When I bought this product, I thought it read that it had more EPA and DHA. When I received it, I quickly realized the mistake and sent it back. I'm giving the second star b/c I was allowed to send it back, thank you.No offense to the product and makers of this product, but for "Optimal" performance the doses need to be much higher. Also on Amazon is NOW, Molecularly Distilled, Super Omega EPA. 720mg EPA/480mg DHA in just two capsules. Also, I give these to my dogs and just cut open the capsule and pour on their food. They like it. | 2% Only rank 37 on labdoor. com for fish oil ... April 18, 2016 Only rank 37 on labdoor.com for fish oil supplements, would have gone with a different brand if I had known. Beware Of Claims September 14, 2015 There were some misleading claims on the label of the original bottle pictured on the add when I ordered this product. There was a reference to "supporting joint health." As you can see that bottle label is changed. I suspect that it is still good for "supporting a healthy heart" if that is what someone is looking for. HDL cholesterol June 20, 2014 If doctors recommend 1000 to 1200 mg of fish oil because that amount of fish oil contains the total amount of omega-3s the doctor wants you to consume. One thousand or 1200 mg of fish oil doesn't equal 1000 or 1200 mg of omega-3s. The average 1000 mg fish oil softgel typically provides around 300 mg of omega-3s (even less of the important EPA and DHA), and so in order to meet the 500 mg intake guidelines, a minimum of two softgels would be necessary.I tired taking these in hopes of raising my HDL cholesterol level (good cholesterol). I've been taking 1 every morning for the past 8 months. It has had no effect on raising my HDL cholesterol levels. My HDL level was 37 in Dec and now it is 35 in June. The normal healthy HDL range is 40-90. I plan on increasing my intake to 2 per day and adding flaxseed to my diet. Something's fishy??? May 15, 2014 I first discovered the fishy taste while eating Oreo's, I thought that there was something wrong with them and tossed the package into the bin, at that point I had not suspected that it could be the concentrated fish oil is was taking. I honestly figured that problem had been worked out by the manufactures. I am looking for a replacement as I type this review, focusing on "Pharmaceutical Grade" Fish Oil.I am surprised that so many people are willing to put up with the fish taste to same a few bucks. Fishy October 28, 2013 I'm sure these are doing what they're supposed to do, but damn, you eat them and you taste fish in the back of your throat for the next 4 hours. I'll finish these off and look for another poduct that does the same thing without the aftertaste. ew. Don't get these if you don't like fish. April 29, 2013 I've had fish oil before, but these were different.First off, they are coated in oil... Fishy tasting oil.... I don't know if this is to keep them from sticking together, or because one pill exploded during transit. All I do know is that it puts a fishy taste in my mouth that I can't get rid of until I brush my teeth again.Secondly, the burps. Although not as fishy as the initial taste due to the oil residue, I am experiencing mild fish taste anytime I burp. (About 30 minutes after I take them, for at least 2 to 3 hours after)Overall, i'm not impressed.. I will be going with a different brand next time, I guess that's what I get for going cheap. In the end, I guess if you like fish... Go for them, but I'll steer clear. |
One Star Reviews: | 2% I did like these fish oil pills I went back to my ... April 24, 2016 I did like these fish oil pills I went back to my old ones. Suggestion make sure when buying fish oil make that mercury is not in your fish oil pills. The ones I purchased gives me energy I did not like these fish oil pills Must be recent production problem October 9, 2014 First order of these was great. Got a new shipment a fee days ago... The coating felt much thinner and different. Then after investing, had horrible fish burps i hate this stuff April 28, 2014 makes my face super oily so i end up with lots of blackheads, whiteheads acne. i stopped using it and my face cleared up Not for me November 18, 2013 I don't know if they work. Haven't been able to take them long enough to find out. First off, they are huge, but the real problem is that they make me terribly nauseous, no matter how full my stomach is at the time. It doesn't last long, but I can't force myself to do it except on an occasional basis. Sorry. These used to be better. June 21, 2013 These fish oil softgels used to be better. I'm not sure what they changed, but the latest bottle I got gave me headaches. I also noticed that they stopped listing a defined amount of EPA/DHA, which makes me wonder if there is even any in there anymore. It's very strange that they used to list it on their softgels, but that they don't now.You could almost say it's fishy. No, I couldn't resist. Gave me headaches June 10, 2013 I've never gotten a headache from a supplement before. After three days of headaches, I stopped taking these and the headaches went away. It was the only thing new in my diet at the time. Very strange. I suppose there's probably something about fish oil and headaches, but honestly, I'm not in the mood to search for the answer. This was just my experience, doesn't mean the product is bad, but it's certainly not for me. | 3% Disgusting!! July 30, 2016 They were rancid! I didn't think to smell them until I saw my doctor who told me they were rancid. Disgusting!!!! I had been taking them for 2 weeks. What a waste of money. Don't bother. Read the fine print November 7, 2015 Only 300 mg of Omega 3..... First time ordering this type of product... Didn't read the fine print! The pills are horribly melted! October 15, 2015 I received the product in July 2015. However, I recently opened it. The pills melted completely to one-side of the bottle. It couldn't have happen at my place because I let the bottle stands, thus it happened during transportation or in store!!! But now I can't return it. It is horrible! I am so disappointed. Open the bottle when you get them immediately just in case this happened to you. I didn't get to use one pill. I would have give 0 star if I could. Please don't consume this product, read futher. Average guy in Alaska July 6, 2015 I have used these for a couple years and they don't break down in my stomach causing upset and indigestion. On running out of the product recently I was brushing my teeth upon wake up. When brushing my tongue 3 of these gel caps came back up- several days after taking the last of the remaining gel caps. (had happened before as well) After not taking these gel caps I have regained normal digestion and no more sickness felling in my stomach. This product is a lot of gelatin and can cause blockage, then rancid fish oil in your body and free radicals, perhaps breeding cancer or illness. Use a different method such as a liquid form or flavored packets. Don't make your self sick and avoid this form of supplement. |
