This is, by far, the strongest wax I have ever used. This is not like other brands such as Rad Wax where you apply it, and it stays waxy the whole day. This is applied, and then gets firm, like, really firm. I think that this wax holds more firm than any gel I have ever used. I call this a good thing. The only thing I'd recommend to buyers/users of this is to be sure to start off with small dabs of wax. This is definitely not your old school wax where you have to scoop up a bunch and mix-mold your hair to your likings. This bad boy will keep the mold you have on immediately, so start off slowly, begin sculpting, then apply more if necessary. You do NOT need a lot to get your desired hold (unless you have a lot of hair :) ). I use this on my hair because when I get my high and tight done, I use a #3 machine on the top, and that leaves room for hair to stand on it's own. Using this will flatten those rogue hairs and I use and old school pocket comb (ring-style or flat comb style, not the roller style) to give my hair the final combed back touch. I purchased 2 other brands of wax the same day that I bought this one, I will review them as I use them.

More pliable than American Crew Fiber and doesn't have that obnoxious smell like Jonathan Dirt. Cool case, texture and strong matte hold. I would definitely give it a try.

I have been searching a product like this for a long time, although I am a girl, the smell is ok and the product really works well.
I love that is matte but it can be a little hard to get it on your hair.

Very strong and dry. Rubs into palms easily, goes into hair well if damp. Holds for DAYS.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. My hair is getting longer on top and my previous cream didn't have enough hold and made my hands sticky every time I ran my hands through my hair. This stuff has just the right amount of hold while also being subtle and not looking like your hair is full of "product." And it doesn't seem to leave a residue on my hands if I touch my head. I love it.

Love this stuff. Doesn't give you that juvenile wet look, like so many gels and pomades do. Barely looks like you have any product in your hair, but gives you great hold. A little bit goes a long way, too--one can of this stuff got me through the last 2 years easily. It is scentless and doesn't wear off easily during the day. Also, I tend to have a more sensitive scalp, and I never had any skin irritation with it. Very happy overall.

Boy do I love this product! I have a permanent cowlick right at my crown and this stuff takes care of it without problem. It may take a little more of the product in my case, but my hair never appears weighed down, wet, etc. This stuff allows you to keep your hair appearing light and even product free. I'll be buying this product again when I run out of my current can. Hopefully, for a little less than the $9 I paid.

Make sure to massage in hands before applying directly to your hair. If you don't, little white chunks of product are lodged in your hair. Once you heat up in hands, it's an incredible product. It doesn't have a tacky like hold, it's more of a natural hold. It has a manly scent so consider that if you are buying this as a female. If you like that sorta thing go for it! ;-)

I have been using this stuff since 2014. Once in a while I'll try something different. Yet, TIGI Matte Wax always turns out to be better.
What does it do? It holds

Pros:

Hold: Holds your hair all day long. Or longer, if you want it to. Really. I have put it to the ultimate test.
I work outside - moving, sweating, wearing a hard hat. If you are like me, most products wear off after a couple hours. This holds.

Matte: It doesn't have any noticeable sheen. Your hair really doesn't look any different, just stays put. Compared to gel, well...there's no comparison.

Soft: It's a wax, but what that means is it never gets hard or crunchy. You can comb your hair with it in, or run your fingers through. All that will do it hold the shape in the new style you want, whether that's 30 minutes or 3 hours later.

Washable: Washes out easily and thoroughly.

Smells right: Has a very very faint fragrance of something fresh and sweet. But not in any way offensive or noticeable to anyone I have ever met.

Cons:
Everybody has already said what a great product it is, so Ill try to point out what you might not like about it.

Sticky: When you apply it properly, your hair will not be sticky, but your hands will be. You need to be able to wash your hands with WARM water after. Cold water just means a whole lot of hand scrubbing.

Keep it covered: If you forget to put the lid on, it will dry out, and not be usable. (You can add a little water back to the container and reseal it, wait 8 hours and bring it back to life).

Don't over do it: Too much will make your hair sticky until you wash it.

Don't under do it: Too little, and it won't do a d*** thing. The first time I used it, I did this.

THE GOLDILOCKS ZONE METHOD:
This is what works for me, developed from trial and error. Hope it helps you too!
Hair and hands a little damp. After you dry off coming out the shower is just about perfect. Comb your hair to desired shape. A scoop on your palm the about size of a quarter, flat (more if you have long hair). Rub your hands together, and run them through your hair a few times. Wash the stickiness from your hands. Re-comb if necessary.

Conclusion: Its the best out there, if what you want is hair that doesn't look like it has product in it, holding all day. Once you know how to use it.
Just make sure to wash your hands after.

This stuff holds like crazy which is a good thing. Works into hair easily enough just make sure to get done as it dries real quick. Spikes my hair easily and finished look is extremely matte.

I would recommend keeping your hair slightly wet, apply this on thoroughly, then blow dry while styling your hair. It is easier to wash your hair compare to Paul Mitchell's one ( PM's also leaves a lot of flake-looking wax, while this one from Dominate does not.)

Holds really good all day. You have to wet your hand when using this to apply to your hair. It really is matte finish, no shine to your hair. There is no fragrance to this wax. I'm glad I ordered it. I have tried a lot of other products and this is the only one that truly keeps your hair style the way you want it.

I like this product when combined with Johnny B Street Cream. If used by its self its very dry and difficult to apply to dry hair. Use half a dime size of this stuff and half a dime size of Johnny B Street Cream and rub hands together to warm up product. Makes it easier to work into hair.

Interesting product. Smells like eucalyptus and orange peel, not particularly good. Provides great hold, seriously great hold. However, it says super dry look, actually, a more precise term would be BONE DRY, lifeless. If you put this in the morning, it will look fantastic for the first hours. After that, it begins to dry down to an insane point where your hair feels like you used paint on it (but can still move). It has absolutely no shine, it gives a dead look to the hair, take that into account plus the fact that this (as described) separates thin hair, you end up with a really puffy bunch of hair somewhat resembling the shape that you styled it first into. That that I just described is at the end of the day, and taking into account that I'm only in my house to sleep, yeah, you have to look for a product that's long-lasting. This is not it.
I put 4 stars despite saying all that because this is SUPERB for short occasions. I had a short date (3 hours) and this kept the same look for those three hours, and that works for me.

Really good product, for a while. Don't look forward to this lasting a whole day.

Overall this is a great product. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because it still is a little bit soft, more like the consistency of room temp butter than a wax. I've gotten another type of wax from tigi in a black container that was a thicker consistency with a stronger hold. Overall a good product though and you can't beat the price!

I don't know how else to say this, but applying this wax kind of feels like your rubbing something rubber on your hair. I end up pulling hairs out, but once it dries, it works great. Not sure if I'll buy any again, but alas, I have 3 tubs to go through first. ;)

This is probably the best wax I've ever used. Really works and hold is superb. Very light scent that doesn't really bother me. The only reason it gets 4 stars is because it's really stiff. Other than that, it's great. Totally recommend!

It has a great mild smell, and holds pretty well. It's still no match for my four year old after a day at school, but I can't imagine most hair products would be. Easy to use and easy to rinse though!

I think I found my new go to hair product. I have pretty thick, coarse hair, and I've always had trouble finding stuff to control it, but this does the trick well. Holds it in place, and I can easily readjust throughout the day if it starts to fall, and does it all with the matte finish so it looks like there's nothing in your hair. Your hair will retain that way/sticky feel, but it won't be on your hand if you run your fingers through it.

It's also worth noting that I only use the product (as I've done with others); meaning I don't use hair spray, or a blow drier, or whatever, so not sure how those things would tie in.

But that's just how I like it; one product and I'm good to go.

When my husband opened this , it looked old. By saying that it looked old , it was cracked and dried out a bit. He's still using it but I wouldn't buy again .

I have medium-length, wavy hair that at times can be a bit unruly. I love a matte finish, so thought I'd give this a try. I've tried a handful of similar texture pastes and have found that this one falls a bit short from some others. While it does in fact achieve a nice matte finish, while adding a good amount of texture, I have found it very difficult to work with. It's surprisingly hard to work through your hair and once in place, you really cant run your fingers through your hair without them getting tangled. This has been the case with many texture pastes, as they achieve the look that you want without the sticky feel. While this isn't a bad by any means, I think I'll go back to some other matte products I have tried in the past.

Not as good as other paste I've used. ADH Dry goes on much better if your hair is completely dry. Make sure your hair is slightly damp while putting this on. It has a very sticky feel to it that I do not like.

I don't think this is the stuff you get in the stores. Much lighter. I bought two. Will use in case of emergency. I still buy the real stuff from the salon.

Pretty good hold, wasn't expecting the hair to have that much hold but it was a nice surprise. A very subtle masculine scent accompanies the wax, always welcomed. There is a lot of product for the price paid for ($11), completely opposite from the products I usually use from Hanz de Fuko. -2 stars because the product tends to flake in my hair and cause me to have dandruff while in hair

I have really thick coarse hair and was looking for a light hold product. This is pretty good but you really have to be careful how much you use. If you go too light, it doesn't do anything or the hold is not consistent. If you use too much, its a little too stiff and gooey. I'm sure there is a medium but I haven't been able to easily achieve it. Been using Woody's Web Matte stuff and I think its better for me but this is by no means a bad product. Just might not be the best if your hair is like a thick scrub brush / chia pet like mine.

When this product arrives as it should it works well. I've been using for a while. Lately though there has been a defect in packaging and you get a single dried clump that's slightly more pliable that limestone. They need to rethink their packaging system, I've notices a lot of Amazon reviews with the same complaint. This is the third and last time I've been burned...

Items provides stronger hold than I would like. It basically turns your hair into solid immovable object.

Not sure what I expected out of this. I will give it this though it was not lying about being matte. It's goes beyond and above the call of duty when he comes to making hair stand up. I imagine this is perfect for short hair, sadly for me, I lost the super spiky/messy look back around Y2K. And this product cannot do anything unless you want to look like you just woke up and want your hair to stay that way.

I really didn't like it. It doesn't have great hold and it made my hair look really greasy. I am going to try a wax next time.

Compared to the Bed Head Manipulator Matte, it is:
- much stickier when initially applying
- little more difficult to work with after applying
- definitively look more matte
- holds much longer
- feels "crunchier" when reshaping after some time

When using this, I recommend first putting it in when your hair is damp. It is much easier to work with than when your hair is dry.

I've used quite a few pomades, and this one is the worst thus far. You really have to work it into your hair or it will leave white chunks, and it hardens it like a gel. It's not like a pomade, or what I'd consider a pomade. The best I've tried is bumble and bumble semisumo. It's a little more expensive, but it's on another level. But really, if your going to buy this, you may as well just get LA Looks. At least you'll have lots of it ;)

I'm not sure why I got this again. Maybe because of the high reviews, but I realized after a couple days that this is not the hair wax for me mostly because it is a little too weak for my taste. I put it on my hair, and it does not hold, but leaves this sticky-like residue for the whole day until I shower. If I could return it and get something else, I would, but I guess I'll use it up and make a better decision next time.

This paste is extremely thick and difficult to distribute on your hair. While it does have some hold to it, I think it is too difficult to "play" with it especially if you have long-ish hair like I do. It's very likely that it works better on guys with shorter hair. I wouldn't recommend it to guys with thin hair.

If you're into ripping out clumps of your hair while trying to apply a hair product then buy this stuff.
It is absolutely horrible! makes your hair look like you put powder in it if you get through the torture of spreading it evenly throughout.
I think Jigsaw should have a scene in the next Saw movie of forcing someone to use this wax in their hair in order to escape death.

Rock hard hockey puck

I have been using this brand for a long time with no problem, decided to try the waxx line to see if it was good. Arrived quickly through prime, was wondering why box was so light, opened up to test product out and found a completely dry, rock solid brick of product that looks dehydrated. I am completely disappointed now i need to go through hassle of returning item to get a replacement

Honestly, I wouldn't buy this again. I guess I was fooled by a nicely packaged, well marketed product that just doesn't live up to its hype. Fact of the matter, for me, is that this product leaves my scalp feeling itchy and it also leaves white residue in my hair. I apply what I can get on the tip of my index finger (not a lot) and it's rubbed all over my hands before it touches my hair so it's definitely not clumped or applied improperly to where I should have issues like this. I feel like this is money wasted.

I bought this a while ago before I went on to a long trip. I didn't get a chance to come here to write a review until now.
Initially I was quite happy that it arrived the day before I took off. But once I opened it I was disappointed. The wax was dry and there was crack. It looked like it had been on shelf for years.

I have tried to use this product however it seems defective or not being tested properly. It's too hard to apply on hair (Almost solid). I guess i was given expired product and there is no way to return/exchange it.

This had been my go-to hair product for years. After trying waayyy too many other products, I always came back to this. Now, they changed it, and my hair just looks bad with it. Why Tigi??
Now I have to go start another search.

Very disappointed! Since Paul Mitchell's ESP Lab is no longer made, I've been desperately trying to find something similar. After reading great reviews on this product I thought this may be a good solution. I have thin hair, but this isn't anything like paste and doesn't have a strong hold. Unfortunately, there's no cheaper solution to test product before having to buy the whole can. I'd love to hear if anyone else found something comparable to PM's ESP Lab.

I have dark hair cut into a pixie. This wax is white and left my hair looking slightly...frosted. I guess that is intended to create the matte rather than glossy final look, but it just left my hair looking gunky.

Very firm and hard to work through hair. Too little does nothing, too much makes your hair look greasy. Seems as though the can is not secure and the wax has started to dry out even more.
