Five Star Reviews: | 78% Old Versus New Fellowes Binding Machine July 20, 2017 The Fellowes Binding Machine Quasar E Electronic version replaced a very old manual version of the Fellowes Binding system. The new one is a DREAM to use. Would highly recommend this product for persons operating a small business. Great Unit April 17, 2017 We had a manual one for years that finally gave out and we replaced it with this electric one. It does a great job. I love that there is a slide out drawer for the punched out paper. SOOO much easier to empty than the old one! I hope it lasts as many years! Great binding machine! March 26, 2017 As a Realtor, we use this binding machine to make presentation folders for our listings. They look professional and easy to make. The binding machine is easy to use and we really like it. It was worth the investment. GREAT PRODUCT!! DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY February 20, 2014 I totally wish I had purchased this a long time ago as it is worth the money. Great machine, sturdy, a little heavy (no complaints at all just giving a review), well built, fast, easy to use. If you have ever used a manual binding machine, you know how long it takes to punch and bind. After one use you will not go back to manual unless your power goes out. Capable of punching and assembling as you go. Totally like the tray that holds the binding combs. Nice feature so that I don't have to keep the box on the table. This machine is so easy to use I had help from a sixth grader who after a little supervising and instructions was able to do it on her own. Just make sure that your paper sits all the way down inside the punching area. Use the line on the lid is your guide that the paper sits down properly. The edge of your paper should be flush with the line on the lid. I highly recommend to anyone who is considering purchasing this machine Works like a champ! May 11, 2010 I was very happy with this comb binder. I made a little over 100 books of 70+ sheets plus cover stock, and the only problems I encountered were due to operator error (aka, me). Considering that's about 400 punches right out of the box, I was impressed.I like the vertical loading, as the back rest showed me if the paper was loaded correctly. Although the machine is rated to punch up to 20 sheets, I could tell that it was straining the motor. When I punched about 17 sheets, it worked much better.Overall, a great machine for a great price. | 79% Fine product September 15, 2017 I use these all the time when putting together manuals for my puppy buyers. I'm definitely a repeat customer! Everyone loved the plastic which help protect the memory book July 26, 2017 Used the plastic presentation covers for my Pastor & Wife 25th Anniversary Memory books...Everyone loved the plastic which help protect the memory book. High quality, great product highly recommend March 15, 2017 Very high quality n makes my presentation books very professional looking. Highly recommend. Very Pleased October 3, 2016 We homeschool and I bind a lot of my children's work. Usually I laminate the covers. Now I can just use these. I love the time savings! | 81% Nice! September 18, 2017 These are great and will be a nice change from the 1/4" combs that came with our binder. This comb holds around 50 pages. I do wish ... August 14, 2017 This comb holds around 50 pages. I do wish that I could use bigger comb binding spines with the binder machine. Nice combs. June 22, 2017 I keep running out of this size of combs, so I decided to order in bulk. I use them for all of my homeschool projects and then some! I love that I was able to make "professional" looking books for our son's first fiction book he wrote and sent them to all the grandparents and great grandparents. These are nice quality. I have no complaints! less than a dime a piece. What can be better? March 14, 2017 less than a dime a piece. What can be better? Excellent deal. January 24, 2017 This is a good deal. You get 100 combs for a few bucks delivered to your door in less then 2 days. Gotta love that. This box will last us a long while. Lot of combs. | 84% There are no reviews yet | 87% Five Stars August 14, 2017 These are perfect for small paperwork that needs to be organized in a folder. Strong and sturdy! June 4, 2017 As a teacher I make many copies each year, which can be taxing on resources. In order to be more efficient with the printing I do each year, I have begun to make resource packets and bind them with binding combs. This allows me to use the same resources for several years before the wear and tear on them is too much. These are quite strong and can take a good middle school beating. We love them for all types of projects June 19, 2016 There is a reason the Fellowes leads the market in binding products. We have these in all sizes and the manual binder that they go with. We love them for all types of projects. Dont buy the cheaper brands, they break and dont last. Go ahead and get the name you can trust, Fellowes. Amazing pieces of plastic! Saved my life! February 26, 2016 Not really. But, they may have resulted in a positive initial impression by potential clients (I'm a consultant) upon unwrapping that brown security bag concealing a bound proposal. At least, I would like to think so.Using these little guys, along with the Fellowes binding machine (you can find that here on Amazon too - something like this: "Fellowes Binding Machine Star Plus (5006501)"), results in far more professional-looking products (e.g., briefings, reports, and so on). It's a good idea to not only get the Fellowes binding machine, but the clear front and black back covers (like this: Fellowes Binding Linen Presentation Covers, Letter, Black, 200 Pack (5217001)). We've been using these for years, and is a great mid-quality solution when you don't want to use big formal binders or grade-school quality and unappealing paper folders, etc.Keep in mind that there are quite a few sizes, and I recommend a starter pack of sorts so that you can try a few different sizes. We've used them all and very happy with the purchase and quality of the products. Perfect for small binding projects June 26, 2013 I made some handouts which had a stiff back cover, medium weight clear front cover, and 8 pages between. This was the perfect size for binding them all together, with room to spare. I could probably have put double the amount of pages in, and still have room. The boxes came complete with 100 each, as advertised, and the price is way better than I can get at the local Office Depot or Office Max. |
Four Star Reviews: | 10% Nice looking, easy to operate July 20, 2017 Nice looking, easy to operate. The hole punch blades seem easily wear out. The punched edge is not clean only after less than 2000 pages - 7 x 300 pages menu. Wondering if the punch blades can be replaced. Good Machine March 20, 2017 Worked extremely well and very easy to operate. I would have given it 5 stars but the comb is somewhat difficult to readjust if you do not get it perfectly set the first time. Great for the price February 15, 2013 This replaced a machine made by a company no longer in busiess that had lasted 5 years before someone jammed it with too many covers. The mechanics of this machine are solid, though the plastic housing is a bit weak. The first unit I was shipped was badly damaged in the shipping process. Amazon was of course quick to replace it for free, but it was a bit annoying to wait for the exchange. The duty cycle and number of pages it recommends you punch at a time seem to be realistic. Satisfied June 6, 2011 Im satisfied and glad I purchased the electric model. However, it does not punch 20 pages as stated. If you try to do 20 pages all at once it sounds like it's going to damage the machine. I would say 14 or so is probably safe. Quasar E 500 May 29, 2011 Decent binding machine. Not sure that the cover is very useful, but it punches easily and has a tray below for storing and sizing a few combs. | 12% have used them before and same good April 11, 2017 exactly what was ordered. have used them before and same good quality Some scratches, could have more protective packaging February 10, 2015 It's exactly what I was after, but I've noticed that the large pack (compared to the 25pk) builds up a ton of static electricity, making them hard to get out of the package individually. They also seem to be a little more scratched/fuzzy than the smaller packs. Not sure what causes that. But as a cover, they still do their job, and buying this pack is WAY cheaper than the smaller packs. Nice weight, and very clear June 26, 2013 Needed to make 200 handouts, so ordered two packs. Unfortunately, each pack was short by a few pieces, so I had to run to the store to pick up some overpriced sheets to finish my project. Other than running short, I like these sheets for their clarity, and weight. They don't distort the text underneath, and the thickness helps keep them from accidental folds or nicks, making the presentation materials nice and crisp. Good deal March 30, 2013 It is just like I expected. It is slightly but definitely thicker than clear covers that I had used before. What bothered me was that the item number was a bit confusing. Here it says 52311, and the product I got says 'CRC 52309'. I had to look it up their online website. Apparently, 52309 is a number for different quantity. And then, I found '52311' printed right under barcode of mine. So, I decided to ignore it, 'cause I think I got the right item. Information for future buyers May 19, 2012 For future buyers, additional information regarding this PVC covers. They are 7mils or 0.17mm. Any way, it worked for me... | 13% Flimsy but works March 27, 2017 Works as intended, but a bit flimsy and thin plastic. Easy to use with my Fellowes Star+ binder! These work great! I was looking for something that I could ... March 28, 2016 These work great! I was looking for something that I could easily add pages to. This does the job. I bind the printed home inspection reports for out customers ... May 7, 2015 I bind the printed home inspection reports for out customers. I use binding spines from 3/8" to 1" depending on the size of the report and the number of photographs included. I have never had any problems with any of the Fellowes plastic comb binding spines. Happy to have my own classroom tools June 23, 2014 I have yet to use this recent order however, my past experience has always been favorable. This is the reason I ordered this product. I am sure that I will have no regrets and my students will be happy with his or her finished projects at the end of the upcoming school year! | 10% There are no reviews yet | 11% Coils are tight, can't fit the full amount of ... October 17, 2017 Coils are tight, can't fit the full amount of paper advertised, but I'm also using a high lb premium paper. Four Stars March 30, 2015 Works well and makes a neatly bound book(let). They come in various diameters for books of different thickness. Durable May 25, 2014 Tough and sturdy. Been using it to compile my old notes and some literature.Very durable product. Quite easy to use on a puncher machine. |
Three Star Reviews: | 4% I was disappointed that it did not cut through plastic page covers ... December 15, 2016 I was disappointed that it did not cut through plastic page covers very well and that it was not long enough to bind my music books which was the prime reason I purchased the machine. There is no power cord in my box so cannot ... November 28, 2016 There is no power cord in my box so cannot use it til I get one? Not sure if it normally has no power cord. Looks pretty, does its job, but lacks depth (adjustment) January 28, 2014 We found the need to replace a ten year old machine when it developed an odd electrical short (continuously punching) and figured it'd be just as economical to buy a new machine as it would be to find a qualified repairman to fix the old one (I don't believe the manufacturer is still in business). Besides, the old one had its problems. It did everything you'd need but max punching was 12 pages, it weighed about 35 pounds, and the paper chads regularly clogged up the the very poorly designed waste tray. This new machine does solve much of those problems. It's significantly lighter yet still durable, the waste tray is conveniently placed on the side and the machine has a nice little window in the front to monitor how full it is. If it does get clogged it might be difficult to unclog, but I'll just have to hope that won't happen. It says it has a max paper capacity of 20 pages, but I think 15 or a little less is a safer amount if you want to keep your machine running well. Still a significant improvement over 12 max (9 pages to be safe). It also has a very attractive design, sleek and unobtrusive when closed up.I doubt I'll have much use for the little storage tray though, certainly not for regularly used combs anyway. And once you get used to comb sizes you'll have very little use for the guide. It might be good for odd sizes and little tools that you might occasionally use.Unfortunately there are a couple things I'm not really happy with.I guess I just took the adjustable punch depth on the old machine for granted, but now that it's gone I realize it will be a slight problem. If you've ever found the need to punch and bind something like a good sized pamphlet you'd know it works best if the inside pages have a narrow depth and outside pages are deeper. at one depth a 20+ page folded document will start to bunch.Plus, the single depth on this machine is rather shallow. The inside of the hole is pretty close to the edge of the paper. not quite an 1/8", more like 3/32". It seems adequate but I always used a deeper depth setting on my previous machine and it makes me think they will have a higher likelihood of developing rips at the edges.Smaller combs (1/4", 5/16", even 3/8" sometimes) also tend to get stuck behind the comb guides and there isn't room behind them to adjust them with your fingers. So it's likely you'll be using a pencil or something similar to work the smaller ones into place, or to remove them if you need to. It's not impossible to pry one out with your fingers, but it's not simple either. [edit: upon further usage, this is less of a problem. You can't get your finger in the back, but you a comb forward with your fingertip easily enough. occasionally you may still need a makeshift tool to move combs into place, especially the 1/4", but it's not as bad as I first made out.]I'm still in the window of time where I could reasonably return this and get something else but it looks like the alternatives with a depth adjustment are other heavy, unattractive machines, and cost about 50% more, so I'll probably stick with this one and consider the problems with this machine minor annoyances. If it we used it daily, I wouldn't want this to be our machine, but weekly or monthly projects that don't last longer than a couple days to a week will probably mean the issues will remain tolerable. | 5% Inconsistent quality - look for spots February 2, 2016 Quality is not consistent. Some packs are great with clean, clear plastic and others have spotting in the plastic that make it look dirty as if covered with lint or chipped. Be sure and check your pack before putting in inventory. I missed the return deadline by a few days. They'll work fine, but it's not exactly what I had in ... November 24, 2015 It's the same size as the paper. All I purchased in the past are about 1/8 "- 3/16" larger than your document to offer a bit of protection. These don't. They'll work fine, but it's not exactly what I had in mind. My back presentation cover is black and it's the bigger size, so it really kind of makes this clear under-size cover stand out. Good product, just be aware that because it is ... November 5, 2014 Good product, just be aware that because it is a little oversized, it's a bit cumbersome to bind. I thought just the width would be wider in order to cover tabs, but the length was also oversized, which I don't like. Makes a nice cover May 23, 2014 A nice clear cover for projects that need to be bound. The cover is slightly larger than the standard letter size paper so it can make binding slightly more difficult. I also find that you need to clean the covers as they can attract dust and finger prints easily. Not sure I'll order this product again due the slight difference in measurement. Okay but nothing special April 8, 2013 The title says it all. They're not bad. Average weight and so on. Better price than if you were to go to a local office supply store. | 4% It's okay. March 27, 2017 It works well, but I think the plastic is a little flimsy. It's thin so the paper can fall out after opening and closing it after several use. If the plastic is a little thicker, it'll be sturdier and the paper won't slide out. (FYI: I used the maximum paper amount for this comb. I know others say they wouldn't recommend that but why would the company state that if it's not capable of it. Js). Still works well though. This product would be better if it were made with a thicker plastic March 9, 2017 This product would be better if it were made with a thicker plastic. The binding combs are too flimsy. They work well with small amounts of paper, but I don't think they would hold up well with large amounts of paper. | 3% There are no reviews yet | 1% Can't really compare this to other binding combs because this ... January 24, 2015 Can't really compare this to other binding combs because this was my first purchase, but I guess given the price they're are what you pay for. |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% Poor design October 5, 2015 Does not work well if you don't have small fingers to get behind binder and push forward | 2% Not for me, but may be for you. September 13, 2016 This item came delivered in a large box. and upon opening the package, I noted the covers were not in their own little pouch but were freely moving about in the box. Many were damaged (scratches and folds) from the tumbling around the box. The actual item itself was okay, but reminded me of the transparency sheets I used to use on the overhead (desk mounted projector with bright lightbulbs) of yesteryear, which are actually cheaper to purchase as well. Not for me, but may be for you. Won't buy again November 3, 2015 The corner was damaged so not all of the item was usable. Not worth the trouble of sending back. Needed it immediately and the item is not entirely usable. I had previously reviewed this and my review rejected for some unknown reason. Now two stars for the trouble of having to rewrite it. This deserves an honest review. First I was disappointed with it but now feeling kind of cross. These are rectangle. The corners are not rounded like in the photo. March 13, 2014 These are not the same shape as the back covers with the rounded corners. I returned them for refund. Good thing I am not on a time crunch! | 1% ... machine to apply them but they seem to be nice an March 5, 2017 I can't give an opion on the product since I can't use the machine to apply them but they seem to be nice an sturdy | 2% There are no reviews yet | 1% |
One Star Reviews: | 6% One Star August 30, 2017 The machine does not make a clean cut and leaves all kinds of paper dust everywhere. Machine is then useless! April 19, 2017 Incomplete package: missing power cord in initial order and in replacement! Machine is then useless! restrictive paper size April 6, 2014 Really disappointed that this binder only does legal A4. This was not clearly articulated in the product description. We have to now go to great expense to ship this product back for a refund. No Electrical cord or Starter Kit November 20, 2013 No Electrical cord or Starter Kit.product came without an electrical cord and no Starter Kit.The box was badly damaged and the packing materials jammed in. | 2% Not Pre-punched April 29, 2017 I bought these to put together bound books for a conference handout. They are simply flimsy plastic sheets without any pre-punched holes. Completely useless. One Star May 9, 2015 These covers stick together. They are unusable because they stick together .Seriously it is near impossible to assemble with paperI wish someone could tell me how to neutralize this static electricity they cause when you take one page off the pack.Very Very frustrating I'm throwing them out.. rendered usless Not Exactly compatible with avery 5168 October 16, 2013 This product is advertised as compatible with avery 5168 labels, however avery 5168 labels are 3.5 x 5 when peeled off. These were 4.25 x 5.5 when peeled off and that means they are not compatible with avery 5168. They are useless to me since my printing project was designed to print on the avery 5168.The company offered me a refund but I responded by saying I will keep the wrong labels and would you ship me the correct ones at no charge.I never heard back about my offer.SIgned......
