VuPoint Solutions Magic Wand Portable Scanner
September 13, 2016
Incredible item! Some things you need to be saving for posterity are too big for your printer/flatbed scanner and this wand fills the gap. From artwork, pictures, books, you can scan and save it all. Separately buy a micro SD (which can be used with other things like cameras, computers, etc.) which spreads the cost, since micro SDs usually come with a standard size adapter. When I first tried to use the Wand I was not getting good results: Saw only a small slice of my document. I called the really great customer service and found out I was scanning TOO SLOWLY!. Took about 1 minute to explain and figure out. Thanks, VuPoint. Also you get the really valuable Paper Port software for scanning, searching and organizing documents. I used to work with this type of software before I retired, and I really missed it, but not now. Also included is a USB cable for connection to a computer, a cleaning cloth, batteries, and a storage bag for the Wand. I am impressed, so much so that I am buying two others for Christmas gifts. And, no, I am not an employee of this company LOL. It is just a very good product that meets my needs.
VuPoint Magic Wand - Good value and fine results.
May 18, 2016
When I got my first VuPoint portable scanner wand as a gift, I wasn't sure what to do with it. It turned out to be excellent for saving documents at work, where I don't have access to a copier or scanner. It was also handy for scanning magazine or newspaper items, since you just roll it over them rather than feed the paper through it, When it wore out after several years of regular use, I had to replace it.

The new VuPoint scanner I have works just as easily, running off two "AA" batteries. It connects via the included cable to a USB port. Scans are saved on a Micro SD card (not included) and I can open them into an image editing program to trim edges. (I use Paint.) I do wish it had the monochrome setting of my older model, which could create smaller files for e-mailing, but it gives excellent results on any reasonably smooth, flat surface.

The scanner, along with its connector cable, fits in the included drawstring pouch, and I carry it in a pack with my laptop for work.
.
Love it.

I bought it thinking that I could go to the clerk's office and copy the genealogical records to put on the computer, but although the clerks at the Smyth County Courthouse in VA can make copies for fifty cents a page, they maintain that a handheld scanner will damage the books. Since then, I've hand copied everything; it's slower but the spite value is tremendous.
I use the VuPoint for scanning old family photos and letters, though, and it works like a dream.
wow - love this little scanner
May 10, 2012
Spent 5 minutes reading instructions and this great little scanner made short work of scanning receipts I needed to email to my employer!! I love it!! I didn't use the software included, I simply uploaded to Windows Live Photo Gallery (created a "receipts" folder in Pictures first) and magically I had JPG files of my receipts. I rotated to right-side-up the receipt that got scanned upside-down - easy as pie. I didn't use the card adapater, I find the cord easier to handle than taking that tiny little card in and out of the scanner, and no more or less time consuming. I think I'll pop this little scanner into my knitting bag - to have at knitting club to copy patterns. I'm sure I'll think of many other uses. Delighted with this purchase.
GREAT ITEM

GREAT ITEM. BEING IN THE MILITARY AND DEALING WITH ALOT OF HAND RECEIPTS AND DOCUMENTS THIS ITEM MAKES IT VERY EASY TO KEEP ALL MY DOCUMENTS IN ORDER ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS NO COPIER MACHINE READILY AVAILABLE. I USE THIS THING ALOT. I ALSO LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU CAN USE THE USB CORD TO CONNECT TO A COMPUTER OR PULL OUT THE SIM CARD AND PLACE IN A CARD READER. GREAT ITEM, THANKS.

A treasure

This scanner works perfectly and is easy to learn to operate.SetupTake a look at the little enclosed instruction book to set it up.I set mine to export as .jpg since I use mostly graphics, but when I need to scan a lot of text, I will change the settings to .pdf so that I can OCR it and have the text in an editable file.ScanningTurn it on by pressing and holding the silver button for two seconds.Place the scanner on the page.Press the silver button once to start scanning.Draw the scanner down the page you wish to scan. Amazing, highly functional scanner perfect for chromebooks
May 25, 2014
I chose a 5-star rating because I just paid about $40 for a perfectly functional scanner.I recommend it for people who use a Chromebook or lightweight laptop, because you do not need a driver for this scanner. All you need is an microSD slot, SD slot with micro adaptor, or a USB port, and you can access the scanner's memory just like a thumb drive. The scanner has no power cord and does not need a USB cable to work. It is powered with two NOT INCLUDED AA batteries. You also have to buy the SD card separately. The scan quality is very good. I thought that a hand-held scanner's image would be warped or stretched. Not so on my first try: there are rollers on the contact surface of the scanner, which I believe compensate the image for changes in hand speed.
Outstanding portable scanner
April 3, 2013
Keep in mind I've only used this product a few times, however my first impression was incredible. I'm an artist so my biggest concern was whether this little handheld wand to stand up to flatbed scanner art expectations. With little to no time, I was scanning and making impressive scans in a very short period of time. I've never been able to scan this quickly with that level of quality. This scanner has surpassed my expectations and is replacing all my conventional scanners that I have at home. the fact it is portable is the super selling point. Easy to move around, light and effective. While the scanner came with a slip sleeve, I recommend getting the carrying case as well. Simply because there are sure to be instances where you'll bump this while in a backpack or briefcase and I perish to think what would happen if I crack or damage the underside. There are two settings for high rez and low rez scanning and even on the low rez it was beyond my expectations. I'm glad I bought this and it will save me countless headaches, times and otherwise cumbersome resources for the foreseeable future.
So easy!
December 16, 2011
I have only had this scanner for about two weeks, but I love it! I am crazy about old photographs, especially of my and my husband's relatives. So, I got this handheld scanner so that I could take it with me when we visit older family members and scan all the old pix they have. I was afraid that I would have trouble getting the hang of how fast or slow to move the wand over pictures in order to get a good scan, but, the very first scan I did turned out great! The technique is not at all hard to learn, and there is a light on the top of the wand that tells you if there has been an error and you need to re-scan. Now it won't matter whether the pictures I comes across are stuck in their frames or stuck in an old photo album, I will still be able to scan them! And, most importantly, I will be able to scan all those pictures that an aunt or grandmother my not feel comfortable letting me take home me to scan. It comes with a soft pouch, but I purchased the VuPoint Hard Case for it and that works perfectly. The bottom of the wand, being the actual scanning service, definitely needs protection and I feel better with it in the hard case instead of just the soft pouch.
My best piece of Electronic purchase this year!
December 15, 2011
Despite the negative reviews about this product, I decided to take the plunge and purchase it anyway.I am very far from being disappointed! It turns out the quality of this mini handheld scanner is incredible!I've already tried scanning my school notes, magazine pages, and even the design on a shoe box (I know you are probably like !!?? ) But hey, I was too excited.Bottom line:Pros: Very simplistic setup, as easy as unwrapping a Ferrero rocher ha! The picture quality is close to perfect, given you set it on HIGH resolution. Comes with a choice of Color or BW setting Can pretty much scan anything.Cons: Definitely nothing much, just that you need to be patient, there is a bit of a learning curve. You just have to learn to keep your hand steady and move slowly! It requires a mini SD card, not provided in the package, but one of your old phones probably has one for a start.
Great product, cutting edge
April 5, 2010
Very cool gadget. Does exactly what it should. Use it for magazine articles and book notes to share with others. Must be precise with your hand movement, because once its stored you won't be able to see if it worked until you upload it. Would def recommend

THEY FIXED IT!
November 7, 2015
My wand makes my daily email newsletter a lot easier to create. I run the wand over newspaper stories, then easily download it to my Apple laptop, edit, crop and enhance. I'm on my third wand now and I have had a couple of problems though. The first one (after a good year) would only scan by going from down to up, the opposite of how its supposed to be done. I got tired of that, so ordered a second one. That one lasted almost a year, and then, for some reason, it wouldn't download anymore! So I had to order a third one. After that one arrived, I was disappointed to discover that the scanned downloaded pics of newspaper articles were too dark to be useful. After several unsuccessful attempts to have it fixed by the VuPoint techs, they finally figured out how to fix it: they 'recalibrated' it using a gray sheet of paper, rather than the white sheet that accompanies the package you receive. So I give them an 'A' for fixing the problem. Finally, I really, obviously, like this wand and highly recommend it to you.
Works great, but needs a larger case for USB cord!!
July 15, 2015
I got this for my son who draws a lot and posts his drawings online, Easy for a 13 year old to operate, and it's easy for him to import his scans into computer. My only problem is the USB that comes with it doesn't fit in the case provided. I absolutely hate it when manufacturers won't spend the extra 10 cents or whatever to make the case a tiny bit bigger to accomodate required accessories like a USB or power cord.

Other than that, this does what it is supposed to do.
This scanner will not replace a good flat bed scanner
November 23, 2014
This scanner will not replace a good flat bed scanner. However, if you need a scanner for genealogical work at a County Clerk's office, this is a good one for the job. The two issues I had are that there is no way to limit what you scan. e.g. if the document you are scanning is 4x6, the area on at least two sides will have to be edited. Also you will have to be very careful how you scan otherwise the resultant image will be not be square. These limits being considered, the images are at minimum acceptable and at most very good.
Pretty good for the price
September 22, 2014
Pretty good little scanner. I used it for about 50 scans on some very old pictures and letters. It does a pretty good job and isn't too sensitive to movement. Very portable and great to use on the go. I would recommend. If you want super terrific quality, you should look to pay more, but for the price, this does the trick. Also used it to scan my kid's art projects etc, so we don't have to keep them around forever :-). Only real con that I see, is that it would be great if it would crop the scan to the actual image area. All scans are 8.5" wide.
Quick, Easy, and Great Scans
August 20, 2013
I bought this for school, as I am terrible about losing important paperwork that I end up needing later. Being able to scan without being connected to a computer is extremely handy. Even on the lowest DPI scan, it produces sharp images of a black and white handouts, with each page taking about 2 seconds to slide across. At the highest setting, you do need to slow your roll some and take 5-7 seconds per scan, but I have found I only needed high settings for the smallest of text (and for color of course). It doesn't recognize the edges of the paper however, so you may end up with scans that need to be cropped in order to remove the edges that have a nice scan of the desk you were working on. Not important to me, but if you needed more professional scans for a presentation or something it may be something you need to think about. I would hate to scan 100 things and have to edit each one to remove it.

The device itself is nicely portable, it actually has the same width as my MS Surface Pro, so it fits easily into the tablet bag I use for the Pro. The scanner came with a sleeve to protect it.

My only complaint about the scanner is that you CAN'T hook it to a computer to instantly see your scan. You have to scan first, then connect it, and then it works like a removable drive with the files listed. It So if you are scanning a ton of pages, instead of being able to glance at each one on the PC as you go, you have to wait and do it all afterwards.

The software that comes with it is helpful, but not perfect. It converts JPG scans into Word, Excel, PDF, and Emails, but it cannot do anything with a PDF scan. This may be a limitation imposed by Adobe, or a ploy for you to upgrade to their professional edition ($90 at the time of this post), I am not sure. I do see the professional version gives you the ability to convert PDF files.

August 31, 2017
Scans pages really fast. At the lowest setting the quality is still good. I can scan each page in less than 2 seconds. Only problem is it still cuts off some of the page near the binding. The scanner head is too far from the edge to reach close to the book binding, I still have to tear apart the book to scan it but other than that it is good quality product.
Compact linux-compatible scanner
December 3, 2016
It was easy to set up and calibrate. I mostly use it to scan receipts, and the scanning process is smooth and quick.I run linux, and it showed up under /dev as soon as I connected it. It acts like a usb storage device, just mount it and copy the images to your PC.However, it seems silly to run on non-rechargable batteries, considering it is something you expect to connect over USB regularly.I'm hoping it consumes little enough power that I don't have to change them ofter.
Great portable scanner
November 22, 2013
I have used this to scan news paper clippings, my id card and passport and mostly to scan texts from library books for my studies. This Magic wand does give great quality results that are easy to read and easy to transfer. Why 4 stars- It is tricky at times to know if you got a proper scan as there is no preview LCD. Sometimes I get 3/4 of a page if not properly scanned. This is more of an art to learn how to scan properly. 95% of the time I get what I need. The image blows up nicely to fit reading on a computer screen. I am not sure what the maximum Memory card support is.Batteries do run down rather quickly but I do a fair amount of scanning. One might want to consider investing in rechargeable batteries if you plan on using this scanner often.
So far, so good, but I almost sent it back till I read the website instructions versus the package instructions
February 8, 2013
So far I like this little scanner. I was looking for something low cost, simple to use. My main usage is for scanning documents to a laptop.Overall the scanning can be done so quickly with this device that it's not a big deal if I have to repeat one because I did a poor job moving the scanner over the document. My only negative so far is the instructions that came with the scanner. I didn't get that I had to purchase or already have a microSD card--I thought that was an optional thing if using the USB cable to scan to a computer. (Plus, I had read a few customer feedbacks indicating their computers would not recognize the device, so since my computer wasn't recognizing the device, I was already thinking maybe mine was defective too.)Anyway, when I went to send it back, the seller asked me to contact the manufacturer first for support, and when I went to the website to try and do that, I found the manufacturer had better user instructions on their website, instructions that completely resolved my issue. All I had needed to do was buy a microSD card, put it in the scanner, and not plug in the USB cable to the computer till I was done scanning. Here's the procedure that works for me when scanning (I choose to use the USB port rather than transfer the microSD back and forth from scanner to laptop):1. Make sure good batteries are in the scanner.2. Connect USB cable to scanner but not to the computer yet.3. Make sure MicroSD card is in scanner. (In my case, I bought a new one and I chose to NOT format it.)4. Turn on scanner with button (hold till it's on).5. Push button to scan (once) and observe the scan light is now on.6. Scan document.7. Push button again to stop the scanning.8. Plug other end of USB cable into computer and observe that the computer recognizes the device (sometimes this takes a few seconds).9. That's it -- the scanned files are now under the DCIM folder of the device folder of my laptop.
Works on Mac
January 14, 2011
I got a refurbished one of these to scan documents out of old statute books for legal research. I have five minor issues that keep this from getting 5 stars.First, I was very disappointed that the software the scanner comes with does not work for Mac's. After an hour searching online, I was unable to find a mac-specific driver for the scanner. But I just plugged it into my computer anyway, without installing any software, and it worked. I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.6. iPhoto (7.1.5) thinks the scanner is a camera and pulls up the scanned images to import. The scanner also mounts like a USB Flash drive--just a removable disc. You can download and delete the stored JPG images manually. You could probably download and delete through iPhoto too; though, I haven't tried.Second, You *do need* a Micro SD card in order to use the scanner. It does not seem to have any built-in memory at all. This is a little annoying, but the cards are pretty cheap. I happened to have one lying around so this was less frustrating to me than it seemed to be for other reviewers.Third, the scanner comes with a leather carrying case. I bought the hard case that Amazon suggests, thinking I needed some kind of storage case to keep it from getting dusty. If you're not going to be abusing it, like by carrying it around in a backpack filled with heavy textbooks, then you shouldn't need the hard-sided case--save yourself the extra $20. For me, the hard case is probably worthwhile because the scanner's plastic casing probably wouldn't appreciate being carted around in a bookbag.Fourth, the scanner has four rollers on the bottom that spin as you scan a page, so that the scanner knows how fast you're going and can piece the page together; however, they don't spin very smoothly. This could be due to my scanner being refurbished. So far I have been able to scan things successfully, even when the "Error" light pops up mid-scan, but the jerky action seems like it could be problematic in the future.Fifth, some of the things I've scanned so far have pretty thin pages and the scanner actually picks up the print on the back side of the page. I might be able to manipulate the image to erase these ghost images, by correcting the contrast or something. I haven't had that problem with traditional scanners before.Overall, this is a light, portable scanner that I can use to scan pages out of old books and keep from having to live at the library all the time. It does what I need it to do. And it works with my Mac, no thanks to VuPoint.
Good Reliable WandScanner but needs a handle
December 12, 2010
This is a good wand scanner and works as advertised. The battery life is good. The quality of the scans is adequate in both high and low quality settings. However, because there's no way to stabilize the control of the scan as it rolls across the page, the scans are frequently crooked and warped and require re-scanning two or three times. In addition, the tiny wheels have so little traction and are so small, it's difficult to pull the wand in a straight line. It's also very difficult to see or feel whether the wand is starting at the top edge or past it where it gets caught on the edge and snags the paper. For the price, I suppose it's tolerable but I wish I'd purchased a handle pull model.

Steady hand needed
March 21, 2017
I like that this scanner is portable and you can scan large amounts of photos quickly. However you need a really steady hand or your pictures end up with waves in them. You also have to crop out the background (like the table you scanned them on). It worked okay for the project I needed it for, but it's been sitting in the drawer ever since.

Decent produce for quick on the go scans but...
April 12, 2016
The concept of this is pretty nice, but it picks up the scan and every little move your hand makes shows. This should be expected. So, if you desire really nice, perfect scans, you will be disappointed. It would be a good product to just have on hand if you need to make a quick scan of something on the go.
Easy to store.
March 26, 2015
This scanner will work but it isn't easy. I would do better with it if I had someone to hold what I'm scanning firmly still. I will be getting rid of it soon as I now have an Epson scanner/copier/printer/fax machine. Of course, it will not fit into a drawer as the VuPoint Scanner will!
The good: - It's small and portable
December 18, 2014
The good:
- It's small and portable. Battery life on two cheap alkaline AAs from IKEA seems to be decent.
- It is fully standards-compliant and requires no driver installation whatsoever, it simply writes files to a microSD card and then acts as a standard card reader when plugged into a computer.

The bad:
- It deals very poorly with even slight wrinkles or creases in what you're scanning. Even if it's an otherwise perfectly crisp piece of paper that's been unfolded from a standard business envelope, the resulting image will have some kind of a glitch in it. I tried to remedy this by buying a small rectangle of clear acrylic to provide a flat surface over which to scan, but this resulted in a blurry image instead of a glitchy one. A standard copier transparency helps a little if you're trying to scan a smaller item such as a receipt.
- There's a large dead zone on the scanner's margins, this makes it useless for scanning pages from a book of any size.
- Holding both the scanner and thing you're scanning as you try to swipe the scanner along its length at an even rate of speed can be awkward. Using a surface with some grip to it can help with this.

In summation, the concept is kind of neat, certainly not the worst piece of technology I've ever used, but for practical purposes, at this point I think I'll just invest in a standard flatbed or automatic-feed scanner.

Disappointed when I discovered I needed to purchase a MicroSD card in order to operate it. Copies everything in one pdf file.In order to get individual pages one has to do a lot of copying, cropping, cutting, and pasting. Best for one page, or item scans.
tested it out once and was happy with it
September 27, 2015
I bought this product four years ago, tested it out once and was happy with it. Then I took it with me on a long distance biking trip in Asia. This was a big mistake, I think, because I forgot that this product has a bulb in it that can not handle strong shock or vibration. After the trip, it could not power on even with freshly charged batteries. Although I am not sure I think the bulb burned out due to the shock of the bicycle trip. There were a lot of pot holes and I felt once from the bike. Because I did not get to use this product a lot and it did work when I tested it out the first time. Also I think it broke due to my own fault, I don't know how to rate this product so I will give it 3 stars. Just remember don't subject this product to strong mechanical stress or heat from the sun or rain.
Good scanner on the run
June 29, 2014
I purchased this portable scanner because my sister had one. It works great - however - it is difficult to make a perfect scan because to do so you have to slide the scanner wand across whatever you are scanning in a perfect line or the scan will be distorted. After purchasing it I have found that there are other portable scanners on the market that have guides that will prevent distortion. On the good side is that since there is no guide it is easier to scan odd things that wouldn't fit through a guide.I will work great for you and is totally portable, just be aware that your scans may be distorted if not careful.
Probably the best thing out there, but still not great
March 2, 2012
For what it does, I don't think there is anything out there that does it better, but really that isn't saying too much.I bought this scanner as a substitute for a textbook since it the text book cost over $200, and this thing only cost about $100, after I got the case and Micro SD card. Unfortunately, not only was scanning the pages tedious, but a lot of the times the scanner didn't line up right and the scans were horrible, also there is only about a 1/2 inch on each side of the scanner where it won't scan, but that 1/2 inch bit me in the but to no end. And though it is marked where the scanner will stop, it is just a complete pain working around it when scanning a book or even notebook; especially if they are the more expensive notebooks, like five-star, and have a big ring holding the pages together. Honestly, after 2 chapters of scanning the textbook I bought the thing for, I pretty much gave up and just bought the thing. I didn't feel like returning the product so I kept it around for copying notes from classmates when I miss class or for sending in handwritten homework via e-mail, but honestly these are very rare occasions. On the plus side, you do get better at scanning, and if you are scanning a single document on a flat surface it should work flawless, but this is just rarely the case.So if you don't mind not having the last inch of a page when scanning a notebook or textbook, or if you are just going to use this to scan documents on a flat-surface, then I can recommend this product; otherwise it would be best to steer clear until something less fallible comes along.
Needs some Tweaks but Overall Good
April 5, 2011
The product performs well and is relatively easy to use. You do have to purchase an SD card to store the images (MiniSD). The scanner can be a little wobbly to use while 1 hand is holding down a loose piece of paper in order to get a clear scan. My biggest pet peave? The scanned images are in LARGE JPEG format. It would be a perfect product if it gave the option to scan to PDF (and auto compressed the image to fit in a printable field). On the go, it is a great way to scan just about anything that fits in the field of the beam, and the images can be set to high-res, color or B&W. Functions as an External Flash when connected to USB without the need for drivers.I scan a TON of documents and it is a bit of a drag to have to convert the images to PDF later, but other than that in a pinch it is durably built and VERY portable! I still recommend it. For the price, it should have the PDF option.

Good priced scanner but not that efficient in operation.

Could not use this due to the fact that if your item to be copied wasn't flat, it would catch under the scanner as you rolled over it. You could , of course put your item to be copied in a plasic envelope or sleeve, but I felt that to be too much trouble to make this an efficient item.

Yes, it is easy and convenient, but it is impossible to scan anything without getting obvious distortion of the image. It is okay if all you want is a record of a receipt or something, but it is worthless for any kind of precision work, such as scanning photos.

Not turnkey product
April 18, 2014
The reviews were great, hence my purchase. It arrived in great time, packaged nicely. However, when setting it up, it took me more than an hour (that I don't have to work on stuff), and it still wasn't up and running. I went to Office Max and bought the same manufactures portable scanner for 64.00. That is not the wand as I purchased here, but it was up and running first time set up - turnkey. The quality isn't bad either. I hate having to return things to Amazon, and fortunately it's a rare occurrence. However, even with that the rep that assisted me was very professional, understanding and sent my return label immediately. I said it to her, and I'll say it here....Thank you Amazon, the best money I've spent to be a member of something in a long time. Money well spent. Sorry about the scanner folks, can't give it a thumbs up, but the one I did purchase, the VuPoint Magic InstaScan, where you actually place the document through the device is AWESOME!!!!
Not suitable for quality image scans
July 26, 2013
I'm surprised at all the praise for this product. Based on the reviews, I thought that this was going to be an ideal solution for scanning diagrams and images from antique books. The problem is that this kind of scanner produces a series of tiny lines to create the scanned image, resulting in very poor quality for images scanned from books or documents.

I ordered one of these scanners and what I received was a knock off scanner. I returned it and was promised the correct one. Two days later the same knock off arrived. These were not Vupoint scanners. They were a no name brand out of china. Amazon refunded my money...but buyer be ware.
Stopped working after only a few uses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 13, 2013
Worked great at first. Now all of a sudden there is a huge 2" wide black bar all the way down every page. Tried calibrating as the troubleshooting says. This did nothing except make the black bar blacker somehow. Tried new batteries, new sd card, cleaning the inside and outside of the scanner glass. Nothing works.BEWARE of this scanner!!!! I would pay more for a better one if I could turn back the clock.
Not consistant but very portable.

This wand is hard to use and creates uneven images no matter how hard you try. If you are scanning pictures you will notice the effects less. But if you are scanning anything with words or lines you will definately notice distortions. It reminds me of the early handheld computer scanners which you had to use very carefully. The portability and the ability to use your own memory is a huge bonus, but I wonder if I'd just be better off carrying a light with a similar size and snapping a well lit picture with my smart phone.

I won't buy or recommend this to anyone
Cannot get it into scan mode
December 29, 2016
The first problem was not finding out that it needed and did not come with the micro SD card. The second problem was that no matter what I tried, after calibrating, reformatting and so on, I could not get it to go into scan mode. My theory is that this has something to do with the fact that the same button is used for Power (hold 2 seconds) and Scan (supposedly press once). I bought it several months ago and have not had a chance to use it until now so I am really hoping I can send it back.
Did not like it

This was just hard to use and with smartphone scanning the way it is, this seems obsolete

It does not work without the external memory card which is over $40. Too flimsy. It some times turned on an off on it own. I would not but it again.
Magic Wand Scanner not what it is suppose to be.
October 6, 2014
Bought the Magic Wand portable scanner. Box said it came with software but when I opened the box there was no software. Contacted the Company and they denied even making the scanner, said to go back to who I bought it from. Wouldn't buy again.

Not the best choice by far

Not a high quality item. Didn't roll smoothly on many surfaces and produced sub-par imaging. Returned for credit.
nothing came out nice. Everything cam out with stripes on it
December 13, 2015
Not even close to the quality that I was hoping for. Went to visit my grandma in a European country and when I tried to scan here photos, nothing came out nice. Everything cam out with stripes on it.... So sad since I don't get to go there so often... Recommendations to new buyers: Try on ALL difference surfaces before you decide to keep it. Not as good as it sounds.

Failed me.

Worked well for a couple of months and then suddenly stopped charging or activating. It is a good device if it worked. I tried different cables and usb ports. No joy, a dead machine.

The wand heats up to the point it burns my finger. It turns off automatically after 2 seconds, saying that battery is running out, when it's new battery. I brought it for $80. The worst thing I did was not returning it after the bad testing. I thought it's just that I didn't know how to use it. After two years, and I have more understanding, I realized it's a faul product. The worst buy. Doesn't scan at all, and it heats up.
