... music stand for her flute music and this was perfect. It arrived so quickly and she was delighted
September 20, 2016
My daughter needed a music stand for her flute music and this was perfect. It arrived so quickly and she was delighted. It folds up nicely and is the perfect addition to her practicing routine! She is young and can still set up and fold it without any assistance. Great stand!
Great little portable stand
August 10, 2016
The perfect home or portable practice stand. Has clips to keep music from blowing away if using outdoors, and folds up to neat little package that's super easy to carry around. Probably will not fit in many woodwind cases, but might fit in some larger brass cases (i.e. tuba, baritone and trombone) that have large pockets. I've used stands similar to this from junior high band all the way through university bands.
Easy set-up and sturdy when used appropriately!!

Great product!!.. I have no complaints, it arrived quickly, was easy to set-up, and is much more sturdier than I previously assumed before placing my order. I am very satisfied.
Very useful!

My son's posture was really bad when practicing and the air management poor before we bought this stand. Which was really sad given the fact that his teacher said he was picking the notes rather fast in school, so I decided to purchase this stand for home. I was glad to hear him delivering a clean piece, not having to see him slouch, and see him proud of his work each day he practice. I love this stand in particular, once it is folded it is put away almost in plain sight and it bothers no one.
Excellent. Six stars.

I'm very VERY impressed with the quality of this product. At this price, I expected to get a very flimsy aluminum music stand, but this thing is great. It's heavy, it's sturdy, it has a wide stable base. It's great. I don't feel like I'm going to knock it over by just changing my sheet music.
Excellent value for the price

I found this stand on sale at $5, so my price was a bit less than it is now. I think it was probably some kind of Xmas cyber monday sale. But because of that, I jumped on it. I figured I couldn't go wrong at that price. And honestly, based on what I received, I would have paid three times that much. I'm not sure why others have marked this unit down, because it works just fine. The head IS adjustable, and the adjustment points DO fit snugly. One point, however... if you plan on using heavy books on this, you will be disappointed. I was able to stack magazine size books on it without a problem, but when I put on a heavy book, the head started to collapse (but even then, it didn't collapse completely). If, however, you just need to hold some sheet music, or a tablature book, you'll be fine.On top of everything, the seller got it to me super quick. Would definitely recommend for home use if you just need something to hold your sheet music.

Best tuner I've ever had.
July 20, 2016
Wow, it's great! I got this for my 9 year old who is learning to play guitar. I have tons of electric tuners (okay, two), but nothing decent and easy to use for acoustic. I found this guy, and it's so handy I bought one for myself and my older boy who is learning bass. Works great on electric, no need to even plug in, I guess it goes off of vibrations. Its probably the only tuner I'll ever use from here on out it's so handy, easy, and convenient. But here comes the crazy part:My 9year old, being a 9 year old, managed to somehow drop his straight into a glass of water. I pulled it out, took the battery out and let it dry out for a day. I didn't even do the bowl of rice trick, just set it out. Put it back together the next day (I don't even think it was fully dry), and it's worked like a charm still, ever since. WOW! I probably wouldn't recommend for underwater use, but I am impressed by it's durability. I thought it was a goner for sure.
Perfect little tuner, either for at home or on the road.

There being only the one picture on the page i feel inclined to point out that this thing is actually fairly small. However that is probably the worst thing about this. The screen is very vivid and incredibly smooth during use. The swiveling neck also means that, once you attach it, it becomes very easy to move around so you can see it regardless of how you're holding the guitar. This is also the very first "clip on" tuner that I've ever liked, all my previous tuners have been ones that you plug the jack into because the clip on ones were either wildly inaccurate or were slow to assess what note you were playing. The Snark SN-5 however picked up the note immediately and was spot on, i would also like to say how happy i am that it actually picked up the low B on my 7-string, a feat most previous tuners had extreme difficulty with. The only other thing i should note is that i haven't had it for very long so i can't speak to anything like battery life or how it deals with wear and tear. All in all, a perfect piece of equipment, would definitely buy again.
Great little tuner.
May 19, 2016
I have about 5 different Snarks and they are hands down the best clip-on tuner out there. I've had several different brands and they ALL suck compared to the Snarks. Never a problem tracking whatsoever. The most basic model (this one) is actually the best out of all of them IMO. I've had to change batteries but they last a good while. The bright dial is perfect in every setting, it's unobtrusive, and it always works regardless of what you're doing with your volume level. The only drawback at all is that I wish the spring clamp was a little bit more stiff so as to clamp "harder"; for example on a standard Tele headstock there's not a lot of real estate for it to grab onto so you may knock it off if you're a spaz (I am). Gibsons, or any 6-on-a-side headstocks, are perfect. I never plug into a tuner anymore, this is just so much easier to use. And cheap! You could buy 10 of them for the cost of a new BOSS--and unless they've improved the BOSS markedly since the TU-2, they work way better.
Great Tool for Tuning Any Musical Instrument
March 27, 2016
I just got my first guitar and know nothing about music other than I enjoy listening to it. This is one of those retirement hobbies and my brother bought me the guitar (pretty cool!!!). I didn't even know what the strings were (EADGBE I now know...). This is a super cool little tool to adjust each string. I had no idea how it worked until it arrived, but it listens to sound and then displays what note it is. From the picture I thought you clipped it to the string, but actually it can go anywhere; on the neck of the guitar or the edge of a table, or wherever else you want to place it. I assume it could be used for any musical instrument. I even tried singing some notes and it picked those up too. The gauge will tell you the closest note to what is being played. It also has a nice dial that tells you when it isn't quite there because the string is a little too tight or loose; i.e. it's really easy to fine tune the string to get it just perfect.Ok, I'm impressed with this little gadget and it's been extremely useful for me to get my guitar tuned.
Wish I would have bought one sooner

I scoffed at these at music stores, thinking "how many tuners does a person need". I have an inline tuner and a tuner built into my pedal effects board. And yet, after an acoustic gig where plugging in was a problem, I broke down and bought myself one. I haven't looked back. I've used it with my guitar, bass, and Uke.What i liked about it is that I can tune between songs or even during a song without changing anything. I leave it on my headstock most of the time when I play. It's compact, fits inside your case with ease, even if you have a tight-fitting contour case. I find it gets accurate readings on an electric guitar without the guitar being turned on in a noisy room. It is no frills - don't expect it to sound a pitch for you to match, and it's not chromatic, so it's not going to be any good to tune brass instruments or anything like that. But, for your guitar, bass, violin, ukulele or mandolin, it works well. The only complaint - and it's not really a complaint for me - is that it's somewhat like clipping a capo to your headstock. It's going to take away from the look of the guitar. So, if you don't like that, you're not going to like the tuner.

March 1, 2016
I was skeptical about how well this tuner would work. When it arrived I tried it immediately, I was very impressed! The simplicity in which it works is amazing, you clamp it on to the head of your guitar, turn it on and tune your strings. the bright color display is very easy to read as you adjust the pitch of the strings. I have other tuners that you have to plug in to your guitar and the inconvenience of needing a cord every time you want to tune your guitar was tolerated but frustrating. I also have another tuner that had a microphone as well as a plug in, but the room would have to be very quite in order to get an accurate tune using the microphone. This tuner is small so it fits in my gig bag without a problem. I can now keep my guitars in tune when ever and where ever I want without a problem. I would recommend this to tuner to anyone and every one.

Guitar doesn't slip (unlike XCG4)
August 7, 2017
I have been using this stand for 2 years and have never had any problems. I was concerned about the warning that the rubber pads might damage a nitro cellulous lacquer finish (even though I think that is only used on expensive guitars and mine definitely does not qualify) so when I went to buy another stand earlier this year, I bought an XCG4 which is supposed to be safe for nitro cellulous lacquer finishes. After using both stands on a daily basis for several months, I like the Musician's Gear stand MUCH better. You have to be very careful with the XCG4 or the guitar will slip off. This has happened about once a month even though I am very careful. I have never had that problem with this stand. I put socks on the bottom supports and the neck support to protect the guitar finish just in case but it is probably not necessary in my case. It does look pretty dorky so if I was going to play out, I would probably tape up the rubber supports.
They are solidly built and extremely easy to set up
December 4, 2016
have 7 of these in my house and I trust them all with my guitars (two Fenders, a Gretsch, a Martin, a Gibson and some Epiphones). They are solidly built and extremely easy to set up. All one needs to do is extended the tripod legs, plug in the top half of the neck and screw it in so that it stays locked in. This feature is great if you have a bass and need more length for the instrument. Some people have complained about the foam not being safe for a nitrocellulose finish. I've no idea if that's the case. Nitrocellulose is typically found on more expensive guitars (I don't even think Gibson and Fender use it much nowadays, except perhaps in their custom shop models, but if you can pay $3,000 to $5,000 for a guitar, would you use an $8 stand for them?) If you're worried about this, I suppose you should skip the stand, or replace the foam with some terrycloth or felt.Additionally, some people have complained about the welds failing on this stand. As far as I know, the only "weld" is at the bottom, on the "skirt" where the legs lock into place. Unless you abuse the stand, I simply don't see that piece failing. All in all this is a great stand. Once I move into my new house, I will upload some pictures of the guitars on them.
If you're worried about your finish read this.
October 14, 2016
First things first before you buy, if you are unsure whether you have a poly finish or a nitro finish on your guitar, you should perform the acetone test. (If you are bold enough).*To perform acetone test simply purchase a nail polish remover with the highest concentration of acetone (I found compromised of 100% acetone)Next dip a cotton swab in the solution and dab the tip of the swab on onto your finish. You want to do this preferably onto a place that won't easily be seen like the bottom of your guitar. If the the acetone caused damage to the area applied, you have yourself a nitro finish and should not buy this stand. Likewise if the acetone simply evaporated, congratulate yourself get yourself a beer and buy this stand. For the actual product review i'd say you get what you pay for, however in this case you get more. The stand is very sturdy and well built, my only gripe with the stand is that the part where the bottom of the guitar rests swivels a bit. Also due to another review I read about bad welding I will not relocate the stand or guitar on it without removing my guitar first. My stand appears very sturdy but I wont take the chance. One last selling point to convince you before I go. Free shipping... Enough said.
Great, Inexpensive Stand
April 18, 2015
This is a straightforward guitar stand. It comes in three pieces: the body with the three foldable legs, the upper rest that holds the neck, and the lower rest that holds the bottom of the guitar. The upper and lower rests are covered with neoprene, so they cushion the guitar. There was a warning tag that came with it that said some finishes (I think acetate?) can react with the neoprene, but I haven't had that problem as mine's a urethane finish. The stand assembles and disassembles easily and is very sturdy and stable. The upper rest can be height adjusted with that knob, but only by about 3". (I think that's more of a side effect of its construction than intended feature.) The upper rest has a rubber band that holds the neck in place and is easily used. The entire thing is matte black.I highly recommend having a stand for your guitar, and this one is just lovely. It is an inexpensive way to avoid wear and tear, and it just looks so much better than leaving the guitar propped up in a corner or against a bookshelf. If you want to display your guitar, it's an easy way to do that as well.
Perfect stand for newer guitars
December 30, 2014
Perfect stand for acoustic or electric guitar. Good, quality construction. Adjustable height allows for usage for a small child's guitar (maybe even a ukulele) all the way to a full size electric bass. Has thick padded areas where the guitar makes contact with the stand. The only drawback is the warning that comes attached to the stand that says that the foam used in the padding may react and cause damage to nitrocellulose finishes. I have not experienced any marks yet, but with that I would be a little leery of using it with a vintage guitar. Sits on floor securely, and includes a strap on the top to keep your guitar in place if it might receive a gentle bump.PROS:Holds guitar securelyMaintains upright position when slightly bumped (haven't had any MAJOR bumps yet)Foam padding on contact points protect the guitar's finish from dents/scratchesCONS:I would not use it with a vintage guitar due to warning of foam causing damage to the finishUPDATE:After a year of using this, I have NOT noticed any damage to the finish of my guitar due to the foam (I have a 1996 Japanese made Jackson DKMG). Several times it has been bumped (my daughter is 2), but the base is wide enough to be secure, and the strap on top (does NOT touch the strings) stays securely in place.I would highly recommend this to ANYONE looking for a quality guitar stand. We spend hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars on guitars, why would we want to hide them away in their cases? Mine stands proudly in the corner of my living room. I would heed the manufacturer's warning about the foam when used with a vintage guitar, but for the average user this is an excellent piece at an awesome price. So far it has held up much better than my 'premium' stand purchased from a local store for a much higher price (it uses surgical tubing instead of foam, and it has long since hardened and cracked).
Great stand, great price!
September 3, 2014
I recently purchased a Fender Telecaster guitar for my partner and so we bought this to use as a stand. I like it because it has the little rubber piece that you can put around the neck of the guitar for some added stability. We are not traveling rockstars by any means, so for our purposes, it works amazingly well, and it's a great price! Would definitely purchase again. I will say that the legs can be a bit unstable if you have thick carpet, so make sure you have them spaced appropriately before you leave the guitar unattended.

Quality music stand for a good price
January 23, 2016
Good quality music stand. Nice compact design. A bit of an overkill on the packaging for shipping; it came in a huge box lots of paper and the actual box for it is maybe 2 x 2 x 12. Still, it was a paper and could be recycled.

Pretty decent for a folding music stand. Has rubber feet so it doesn't scratch stuff up. It's a little stiff but I bet after a bunch more regular use it will loosen up a bit.

The Ajustable Music Stand
October 11, 2015
I was very happy with the music stand. My granddaughter uses it when she practices her cello. It is adjustable so she can use it when she either sits on an elated stool or a regular chair.
Strongly recommend it!
April 13, 2015
use it almost every day, very happy with it. the price is affordable, cheap, but the quality is good. I unexpectedly stomp one of its tool and bent it. I wanna make it straight with pliers but failed and left some teeth marks. so regretful. Afterwards, I managed straightening it with my hands. Would recommend it to any music lovers.

Dead simple to use, but a challenge to clip onto violins...
January 5, 2017
First, the downside (why it lost a star): I purchased this to tune a rather cheap violin that I bought to try violin and see if I enjoyed it (if not, hey - photo prop!). For what I paid, I knew I wouldn't regret it as long as it could clip to the violin and was accurate. But that's the downside of advertising as a violin tuner - the pegbox of a violin is drastically different from the headstock of a guitar or bass guitar. In the end, I ended up clipping it to the bridge of the violin (probably not the best idea, but hey - I did say it was a cheap violin) and that worked. Now, the pluses: it's dead-simple to use. The most complicated bit is trying to move the gauge around on the swivels to line up to be most comfortable to view - this does NOT use a gooseneck connection like some resonator-based tuners. If it's a vibration-based instrument and you can clip it to a part that resonates, you can tune it with this pretty darn accurately and easily. I'm sure it will work perfectly when I test it on a bass guitar. Also, it comes with a kinda snazzy little bag. I don't know exactly why, but hey - it's a bonus. For the price and being dead-simple to use, it can't be beat for most instruments. If it's got a pegbox instead of a headstock or soundboard, it may be a bit more of a challenge to find a good place to clip it. I look forward to the inevitable video of someone using it to tune a piano or harpsichord.
Accurate, fast detection ...
March 14, 2016
Works well :) Big bright readout that is accurate and fast detection. The clamp is solid... I used it for two days and battery meter already down to 40% .. (Not sure if original battery is the issue).. CR2032 button battery is relatively cheap so no biggie).Prime membership delivered in two days as promised :) I have to take a star off due to the metronome feature is not available ... Reading through the manual, there was no mentions of that feature but it is part of Amazon product description ... I can see the LED has the metronome layout but just can't get to that function. Only front button for on/off... I pressed and hold but nothing changes ... Overall, it is a tuner and it works well so far ...
Snark SN-5 - makes tuning easy
December 27, 2015
This guitar tuner will make easy work of tuning your guitar. I used it on a classical guitar with nylon strings, a four-string bass guitar and an electric guitar. The job of getting to the right pitch is easy to get used to with the Snark’s tachometer-style display. The Snark plugged onto each of my guitars without any problem. After the strings are tuned, the pitch is correct across the board. I checked to see if there was any drift on the display after a few minutes. As far as I could tell, there was no change due to the electronics. I would say that this tuner will save people a lot of time and hassle. The Snark is very sensitive to your touching any of the strings (other than the one you are working with). You barely have to touch the other string and it will register on the Snark’s display. At this point, you have to damp the string and wait a couple of seconds for the display to go quiet. Same thing happens if you bump the body of the guitar while tuning a string.I like the idea of being able to accurately tune without having to deal with the beats, but it is good to know how to do that, too. I wish that the Snark model that I have showed the actual frequency. It would be nice if it could show you the beats between two strings so that you could tune to the same sharp or flat scale for all the strings or just one string.I like the Snark and I am glad I got one. I am being very careful with it because it is not very robust. I think keeping it in a box when not in use is a great idea. Overall, I found the tuner to be pretty darned good.
This is very easy to understand after you use it once
August 15, 2015
This little tool clamps onto the guitar head. It picks up the string vibrations and shows you each string key, and if your sharp or flat on that key. I was way off on the tone and had to tighten the strings until this tuner responded with the thin light blue indicating your right on! If your off key, there is red or yellow gauge graduations on each side of the blue marker to tell you how far you are off. This is very easy to understand after you use it once. Some people just leave it attached to quickly check if your still in tune. You can easily turn it on or off with ease. I did notice that while tuning one string, the others need to be silenced by just muting them with my hand or fingers. This tuner can be used in daylight and in dark lit room. Great accurate time saver and inexpensive too.
It's a good tuner, but you have to have an ear to tune any guitar
June 25, 2015
Seriously, do most people think they can get a good chord sound by tuning open strings with a tuner and taking what they get? That's ridiculous on an acoustic guitar! I use that as a very rough starting point. Then, I tune to get the best sound on the main chords, which often requires me to flat the high E and the B slightly, as well as the flatting the low E a lot more, depending on the key. Then I make subtle adjustments until the main chords chime and the others aren't too bad. Every move of the capo requires a subtle adjustment using this procedure. Yes, I know that this means the guitar has intonation issues (but all dozen of my acoustic and classical guitars do, even after I hand carve saddles to adjust the intonation). It takes a lot of tech work to get good (much less perfect) intonation on an acoustic guitar, so I don't expect perfection. I arrange my songs sets in order of ascending capo position, to minimize the tweaking required. With a 12-string, this process can be especially maddening. If my 12-string didn't have nearly perfect intonation I would have dumped it long ago.
Never enough Snarks
May 30, 2012
My dad recently started playing the banjo and when he was showing me around Christmas time he pulled out his snark to start tuning. I was genuinely impressed! Gone are the days of pulling out your metronome and listening to that irritating A440 whine coming out and tuning to that. My sister plays violin/viola and I just started playing mandolin about 6 weeks ago. Whenever we get together we pass around the snark and have to take turns tuning... not for long though as i expect mine to arrive sometime this weekend. The display is super easy to read, it stays securely clipped to your headstock (as long as you aren't swinging your instrument around wildly in the heat of the moment), it seems to be reasonably accurate, and my dad has had his for at least 6 months without changing the battery. I guess it might be nicer if it had a metronome built in but that's not what this device is... and by the way, it detects the pitch by measuring the vibration, there is no mic which makes it perfect for tuning in noisy places where a tv in the background can mess up your audio input.I would and probably will recommend this product to any and all who are in the market and interested in hearing my testimonial.

Good for the money and does its job
March 20, 2017
The guitar stand is good for the money and it does its job – nothing interesting or tricky about it and that’s all you need.
I was incredibly pleased. The stand is very very nice and sturdy
January 4, 2016
I have very conflicting opinions on this item. The first time I purchased this item, I was incredibly pleased. The stand is very very nice and sturdy, and to this day that stand holds up very well. I'm incredibly pleased with it.However, when I bought a second one, it fell apart after about a month. The top part of the stand literally broke off. I didn't abuse it in any way. It must have been defective. I probably could've tried to send it back, but I never got around to it. However, the first one I got held up great, and I love it.
Adequate Stand for Its Purpose
January 11, 2015
The stand is decent for the price. I bought two so I could place my guitars in different areas of my bedroom rather than together in a double stand. The stand works fine both for a small electric guitar as well as the larger acoustic guitar that can also be played without amplification. The item is light but heavier enough to hold adequately each guitar. My suggestion is to include some type of instructions for putting together the parts. I think either just brief directions and/or a diagram showing how the parts fit together. It is not difficult to do, but having directions would just make it easier.
Will a guitar stand help my child practice more?
October 13, 2014
Having the guitar on this stand looks professional and cool. It brings the guitar front and center. We have a couple of guitars on the wall units. But that makes the guitar look like it is part of the decoration. The stand, which sits right next to the amplifier, brings the guitar to my sons attention. I fantasize that he's practicing more because the guitar is right there. I like it when he picks up the guitar instead of watching TV. I wish it happened more often. The unit is stable, but not overly substantial. The bottom fork, where the guitar body rests, pivots. I don't really like that attribute. But the freely moving fork makes it easy to accommodate different body styles. The unit was easy to assemble, and can fold up easily to store. It is a good price, and works as advertised.
Very good stand
June 3, 2014
Works like it should work. It seems stable under all normal conditions. If you kick it, it will probably fall, period. Don't kick it and all is well. For those who have uncontrollable pets and children, look for something built out of some indestructible material and be willing to pay dearly for it. I would recommend it to friends and would buy another, if needed.I have purchased two of these so far and have used them on all four of my basses. No issues with either of them in two years. The neck cradle is a little narrow for my Ibanez six string bass, but it still works just fine. Numerous gigs and two very rambunctious dogs and the stand has never tipped over. If someone is rough on any gear, it will fail.
Very sturdy!
January 18, 2014
The stand is incredibly sturdy and I found it to be a great value as compared to what I was able to find in stores. I only gave a 4 star rating because the swivel cradle for the guitar doesn't have a way to lock it in. I imagine that it was by design, and if you don't have to move the stand it likely would never be an issue. It is easy to set up and break down.

Good:-Price-Height (Adjustable)-Has sheet music clips-CompactBad:-***The angle of the top can't adjust*** (I was extremely dissapointed by this fact)-2 pieces-The top piece doesn't clip on or anything, it just slides on-The clamps to hold the stand together were somewhat hard to operate-No assembly instructions (However, assembly is pretty obvious and not difficult- it would not be a problem for the average person)Other:-The brand of the product I received was Proline, model GMS20-I personally would not purchase this stand again, primarily because the top angle cannot be adjusted and partly because the clamps are difficult to operate.-Other than the aforementioned flaws, it seems like a decent/good stand that would suit the needs of anyone looking for a non-professional music stand.-For $10, this is a good stand.

IMHO,these tuners are OK for a casual musician who is playing for fun and occasionally playing a gig. Not rugged enough for daily gigs or taking on the road. I own two and have had both break at the fragile ball joint. I do like the bright display and it's easy to use. I solved my problems by setting the joint where I wanted it and epoxying it in place. Buy extra CR2032 batteries also; these tuners use them up pretty quickly. I practice daily and have gigs every other week or so. A battery lasts me about 2 - 3 months.
Good for the price.
November 26, 2015
I have a couple of these tuners as well as others, both Snark and Deltalabs. They are decent but aren't quite as accurate as I like and I often end up fine tuning by ear. I'm not sure that any clip-on tuner will be dead-nuts accurate and I get better results with my Korg CA40, but the Korg is not a clip on and in some instances more difficult to us.I like all the little hash marks and this will get you in the ball park, so you have to use your ear as you use the tuner. I'd recommend it, particularly for someone who doesn't have any tuner at all. In my experience it works as well as some of the Snarks in the $20 range.
Does not measure flat?!
July 26, 2015
I purchased this tuner to use with my acoustic guitar. I like everything about it, save for two problems.1. Maybe I'm missing something, but this tuner does not appear to measure flat notes at all. It will show sharp with a #, but there doesn't seem to be an indication for flat. You wouldn't think this would matter, but there are some tunings which call for flats. Tuning a half-step down, for example, requires E,A,D,G,B,E to all be tuned flat. I managed to achieve this tuning with a capo on the 1st fret, and tuning to standard tuning, but I shouldn't have to carry a capo everywhere I go.2. The second time I clipped it onto the neck, one of the rubber feet fell off. There was only a tiny dot of glue under it. I used super glue generously, and that solved the problem.Overall this is a good on-the-go, and general tuner when using standard tunings. I just wish it would allow half-step tuning.
Works most of the time
February 12, 2015
Bought this for a bass guitar. Seems to work well 90% of the time. Then randomly while I'm getting it nearly perfectly tuned on, say, the E string, it will all of a sudden say it's B...like the little tuning bars stay the same but the letter will switch...and usually it goes back and forth a bit. So, a few times it hasn't switched back to the correct one...so I just tune another string correctly and then tune the strings from the one or two tuned strings. Overall, I think it's a little quirky and definitely has some weird glitch it seems. Most of the time it works fine and I can always get my bass in tune...but often with a little frustration in the process.
ITS OK BUT....
June 18, 2014
I ordered this primarily for my 5 string Ovation Bass. First, there is very little room on the head stock for it to clamp without hitting strings. My Ovation has a beveled end to the head stock but I was finally got it on the bottom between the D & G string tuners. It does not respond well to an open B, but octaves are fine and as long as I have confidence in my intonation it is no problem. I tested it against some of my more sensitive tuners and found it to be spot on. When I tried it on my Ibanz solid body 5-string I found it to be even less likely to "read" quickly or at all. Also worked great on my 6 strings.
Tuning your guitar made simple
December 19, 2013
This tuner is super easy to use and very user friendly. Clamp it on, press the power switch, and then pluck a string. It will tell you if you are hitting the right note and if it is in tune.I only gave this 3 stars because the battery meter only indicated 1/2 charge out of the box. It still had the plastic barrier that had to be removed to connect the battery. Shouldn't it have a full battery since it is brand new? Not enough of a hassle to send it back, but worth mentioning.Had the battery not been an issue, I would have rated this 5 stars.

Good stand, but smells like chemicals.
October 14, 2016
Works great, assembles easy, but smells strongly of "made in china smell", whatever it is, phthalates, tetrachloroethylene. Plenty of info about that elsewhere. I try to avoid the stuff, but it's close to unavoidable.
Not high quality at all
February 10, 2016
The neck broke a few days after I received it. I had to weld it back together. Its better then ever now.
I used these for years, but then I found something that is even better.....
January 26, 2016
I use to use these all the time, but now I use them in my music studio for my guitar students... I have found something better to use when I'm on stage, and using more than one guitar, infact, I keep a folding stand on stage for each guitar that I have, so I have one for all of my guitars when the band is on break.. Again, it's not this one that I use on stage.. Not any more.! These stay in the music studio, now....
Does the purpose but it is not the sturdiest.
June 20, 2015
This guitar stand does the job but I would still use caution when you put any type of guitar on it. I would not recommend it for any major expensive guitar. It does the job but at times you need to watch the bottom arms as they will turn on you when you sometimes go to put a guitar on it. Not that guitar stands require any type of major degree to put together but the one I received had no instructions at all and you just had to guess. Does the purpose but you need to be careful as it is not the sturdiest one on the market.
Back leg is short and the arm swivels O.o
June 9, 2012
I suppose you get what you pay for... I got this for my steel sting acoustic and it gets the job done. The design is a little unusual. It's not very sturdy with it's short back leg and someone can easily knock it over as the brush by it. Also, the two little arms that hold the body of the guitar are not secure and are set to rotate for some reason.
Holds a guitar, looks broken
January 26, 2012
Definitely the bottom of the guitar stand selection, but it does hold a guitar fine. Stand feels kind of cheap (light metal, parts don't "click" into place, the tubing is very thin-walled and thin diameter. This is all okay, as all I need it to do is stand my guitar up, right? When the guitar is not in the stand, the bottom U-shaped part (where the base of the guitar rests) hangs at an odd angle, about 15 degrees from horizontal. It doesn't effect the ability of the stand to hold a guitar, but it completes the impression of a cheap, crappy product. A tube at the bend of the U slides into a tube on the "spine" of the stand, allowing it to pivot/spin freely, and come to rest in this lopsided position. I'm not sure if one arm of the part is heavier than the other, or if the part is bent, but it annoys me.A nicer guitar stand I used to own had rubber surgical-type tubing instead of foam on the parts that touched the guitar, which "stuck" to the guitar, creating a more solid hold. Also, on this nicer stand, the U-shaped guitar-contacting parts were hinged to the "spine", so it could be folded up into one smaller piece instead of taken apart into 3 pieces. A benefit of this hinge-style attachment was that the U-shaped parts were not free to rotate to the "crappy guitar stand" position.Thats a long review for a $10 guitar stand - my advice, spend a few more bucks and get one with hinges and rubber tubing instead of foam.

Cheaply made.
I prefer a one-Piece Stand.
July 26, 2015
I'm not crazy about this stand. It comes in too many separate pieces. If it's just sitting in the house, it's fine. It's adjustable and easy enough to set up and take down. I use a music stand when I go places to play, and I have to set it up and take it down. Dealing with a bunch of separate pieces is a nuisance. I found a nice black stand that is all one piece, with large plastic screws that hold things in place. I take it out of the bag, loosen the locknuts, and it's ready to go.

Not the one I expected
March 28, 2013
Had ordered a music stand 2 years ago from this vendor that was perfect for what we needed. Went back to the SAME exact order in my Amazon order history and quickly ordered another one (via the item link) thinking I would get the same thing as in 2011. Disappointed when it arrived that it was NOT the same one and does not have knobs for adjusting nor does the top fold down as one complete piece like the previous one we ordered (it's a removable piece). The top also does not adjust. Kept it to avoid a hassle of shipping to return at our expense (as per the vendor), but definitely not as pleased with it as the original stand we purchased. IMPORTANT NOTE! Keep in mind when reading reviews of this item that those reviews may be for the original stand and not for the one currently being sold. Does the job (which is why it gets 2 whole stars), but not as convenient for quick foldup and set up for rehearsals. We now keep this one at home and only use the other one for portability. Overall disappointed to have paid more this time around for a lower quality item in our opinion. I would have given 5 stars for this item based on the one I purchased in 2011. Different product this time, different rating. The reviews on here give an unfair assessment because many of them are old reviews rating a completely different item!
Not worth it buy a better model

This is to hard for our 8 year old to adjust, ok if you never have to do that, We bought a better one with a adjustment knob and not just a lever.

Snark Used to be Great
September 6, 2017
Snark's quality has taken a dive since they first entered the market. I have a lot of guitars and therefore a lot of tuners. The last to Snarks I've bought have given me problems. I guess it's time to find a new brand.
Tuner mechanism ok, rubber feet on clamp not reliable and can damage your instrument
August 25, 2016
We bought a couple of these, and while the tuner itself works fine, the rubber feet that protects your instrument where you clamp it on fall off after a few months (it is held on by a dot of glue which I am guessing dries out). This happened to all of our Snark tuners. It is possible to reattach and re-glue the feet to the tuner, but if it isn't noticed immediately (like with my son's guitar), it can damage your instrument (ours suffered a minor chip) with the hard plastic contact clamping the wood. We are going to switch to a different brand.
much better. Of course
May 2, 2016
First of all, there is no point in buying this if you own a smartphone. A free tuner app will do the samer job much, much better. Of course, I didn't think of that before buying this.I tried using it to tune a violin. Even though I was producing plenty of volume that the tuner should have been picking up, it only rarely responded and displayed tuning info on the display. Seems like it's half deaf. Finally gave up on this thing and used an app instead, which I apparently should have done from the start.
So this tuner works great as a tuner
December 6, 2015
So this tuner works great as a tuner. It's a nice little thing and I love it. Why the 2 star review?Because Amazon is mixing together reviews of the entire snark series of tuners. I've seen reviewers mention the SN-1, the SN-2, the SN-5, and the SN-6. They all have different features!I was really excited about getting a tuner with a metronome, but the SN-5, which I purchased, has none. The top rated review on the amazon page for the SN-5 talks a lot about the metronome functionality, but the reviewer was actually reviewing an SN-1. Buyer Beware.
Budget price and budget quality
November 26, 2015
These are priced to get noticed. Happened to me after buying more expensive ones....Oh, about the durability ? Nah.....about 7-8 months either they don't register quickly, or register at all. I changed to new batteries, no difference on 4 different maple headstocks. Rubber foot fell off one. Going back to Intellitouch, I have 2 that are 6 and 7 years old that cost more but much more accurate and work PERIOD.
Snark FN-5 CANNOT change from A440-hz to anything else. Just a head's up for you techies out there.
April 13, 2015
I just received a Snark SN-5 I ordered here from Amazon.I know these tuners work well, however I was disappointed because this particular model does not allow to change the HZ, setting from standard A440 to anything else.(Most people won't need to ever change this setting. However I know many musicians I play live music with, that swear on A432 HZ.)Also there is no metronome on this FN-5.All this model has is an ON button. That's it. For most applications, that is enough. These tuners are amazing, as long as you don't break the head off the stem, which is easy to do.I'm myself am going to need to find another Snark model that has the ability to set the HZ.

Horrible design. The part that holds the guitar neck ...
November 14, 2016
Horrible design. The part that holds the guitar neck just snapped today. Basically it's this thin flap of metal that's holding the guitar neck holder to the stand. It's gonna break very easily so you need to be very careful when you're removing placing the guitar on the stand, or securing it with the included strap. I was able to give it a fix with some electrical tape. Basically I had to wrap it around 20 times so it was secure, but now yhe neck holder is flimsy. I guess you get what you pay for.
You can find better for the same price (actually $1 less)
July 28, 2016
I bought three different guitar stands to compare and keep the one I liked best: the Gator Frameworks GFW-GTR-1000, the On Stage XCG4, and this one by Musician's Gear. Of all three, this one was my least favorite. For those who want to quickly know the winner, it was the Gator Frameworks GFW-GTR-1000. For those who want more details, read on.Everything about the Musician's Gear stand seems generic and poorly made, which is odd to me considering it has the most reviews here on Amazon, compared to the other two. It just shows you have to look deeper on Amazon before going with the most popular products. The construction of the Musician's Gear stand is just okay; sturdy enough to do the job, but nothing of quality. The metal tubing is the thinnest of the three, and little thought must have been put into the engineering of its build, because there's a bit of a "duh" aspect to the way it assembles. The neck holder rod that slides into the base tube rams into the perpendicular rod of the base holder when assembled. The result? The neck holder always seems up too high, and never really feels like it's in the base tubing as far down as it should be. It holds a standard guitar fine, but feels restricted. The foam rubber that surrounds the neck holder prongs and the base holder prongs is very soft compared to the other two stands. I can't say for sure, but it seems like this foam would tear more easily than the other two, over time. When the guitar (standard Fender Strat) is placed on the stand, it feels secure enough to hold up, but not as secure as the other two. It feels slightly wobbly and pliable. This might be a fine stand for the casual player at home, and most likely someone who has a light acoustic guitar, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who is hoping to take it to live events, nor would I recommend it for anyone with a heavier electric guitar or bass.Perhaps my 2-star review is a little harsh, but I've chosen this rating because the other two stands are better, and they are $1 cheaper than this one at the time of this writing. I'm not sure exactly why someone would choose this stand over the other two, but as long as you're a casual player who just wants it for home use, you'll be happy enough with it.
Got two. Both have issues.
January 22, 2016
Bought one for my sister's bass guitar, and so did my uncle. She kept both.Firstly, they do their job. No doubt, it's easy to hold up a guitar, but it's very annoying that the bottom bar keeps sliding off.On one stand the bottom U-shape keeps sliding out of place and out of the standing pole. The peice of pinched metal that slides through the slit has rubbed off, so now the U-shape just slides out and falls off. Makes it a pain to move the stand around, or make sure a guitar is securely seated. On the other stand, the U-shape guitar seat is secured on, but still shaky, and again, a bit annoying. The metal rod that inserts into the hole is all scratched up.I would've rather the stand be designed so that the parts screw on to be secured, rather than an insert-and-twist system. It is a comfy stand, and I would rate 2 and 1/2 stars if I could, but can't.
It was a great stand while it stayed together
December 8, 2015
It was a great stand while it stayed together. Now 8 months later the top "U" neck holder has fallen off. Looking at the piece, the entire U isn't welded to the frame, but was spot welded (only a dot at the top was welded), and not the entire U to the frame. Thus it just simply popped off. If they simply welded this correctly, this stand would be way more solid and last a lot longer. I'm guessing the factory that is making these are cutting corners/time by spot welding instead of welding the whole U to the frame. Pretty disappointed.
Cheaply made and not very durable!
January 7, 2014
I purchased this stand for my electric guitar and used it for a couple of weeks before the weak weld broke on the neck holder at the top when I placed my guitar in it. Upon close inspection, the weld was very poor and barely attached the neck holder to the upright tube. The tubing is made from very thin round steel tubing that is maybe .025" wall, so don't expect it to take much abuse before it snaps off- even if it is welded better than mine was. Just folding the legs repeatedly back and forth will likely cause it to break or pop out one of light duty aluminum rivets on the legs- it is literally that thin of metal tubing. For $10-11 I did not expect perfection, so to it's credit- it is foam covered where it needs to be and has never scratched my guitars. This stand does have one other good quality- it is CHEAP! Since it was less that $11, I cannot see going through the hassle of returning it. I was able to carefully weld mine back together- but this would probably not be an option for most. The stand might work fine if you don't fold it up regularly and if you leave it set up- but If you need portability and durability- I would definitely purchase a better quality stand.

Piece of crap. Doesnt allow you to adjust the tuning frequency or tune in flat tunings. The shell is made of crappy plastic instead of the soft matte plastic of the super snark or the other quality snarks. Save up another 10-15 dollars and buy the higher quality tuner. Just the better plastic is worth the price.
Didn't work for my String bass
June 30, 2016
String bass can be difficult to find accessories for sometimes. I saw Bass, and Violin and thought, "Gosh it has to work for my bass" Sometimes if you're in a noisy concert hall or something you have a tough time hearing yourself so I thought a clippy tuner thing would be great. Well...I think the thing still uses AOL dial up or something because many times it won't even read whatever string I"m playing. I tried clipping to the bridge and peg box to try and rule out "user error." Yeah I'm just going to stick to a 440 A and my ear like normal people. Save your money if you're a string bass player.

November 20, 2015
This is my first tuner. Probably my last too if this one is representative of the breed. Not to brag but I can tune more accurately by ear and as fast or even faster. Honestly, if you can't do a better job than this POS you may be a bit tone deaf.
It's just a bad product
June 24, 2013
I have two issues with this product. First, I couldn't find a way to calibrate it. Maybe there is a way, but I haven't figured it out (and neither have any of my bandmates). Since one of my bands tunes to A442, this is a problem. And this tuner doesn't even seem to be calibrated correctly to A440! When my instrument is perfectly in tune according to this tuner, it's still out of tune with instruments that have been tuned using different tuners. The second problem is that one of the grippy foot pads fell off, and I can't get it to stay in place. As a result, the tuner doesn't stay firmly affixed to my instrument. That is more of a minor annoyance than a major problem, but it happened when I'd been using the tuner for maybe a month. I store it carefully and use it correctly, so this shouldn't be an issue at all. It's possible that my tuner is just defective, but I won't be ordering another one to find out.

What an absolutely terrible piece of worthless junk
March 1, 2016
What an absolutely terrible piece of worthless junk. The base of the stand attached to the tripod was about 30 degrees off center. I figured it was just adjustable, so I tried to turn it and it simply broke off, revealing three shotty spot welds that held it in place (again mind you, EXTREMELY off-center). Granted, I'm also fairly certain the guitar stand I received is not this one that I purchased. The stand/packaging no where says Musician's Gear, but "ChromaCast". Regardless of whether or not I received an incorrect product or this is the right one and it just sucks, I would definitely not recommend purchasing from this seller ("Online_Bargain_Hunter"). I sure wouldn't call this a bargain, as I can probably find some scrap metal on the side of the road instead of spending $16. If only I could give this less than one star.
Skip this one.
January 16, 2016
I've bought Musician's Gear stands before in my local music store, so that is what I thought I was buying. This is not the same thing, it is much lighter and much lower quality. This stand is made of very thin wall metal tubing and had a lot of peels and shaving that were not cleaned before it was painted. The inside of the main tube has large patches of rust. The yoke that holds the neck screws into the upper tube, but they painted the threads so it won't fully seat. Finally, once assembled the yoke does not line up with the cradle that holds the body of the guitar. The stand and box is labeled "Chromacast" which my other Musician's Gear stands are not. Sending it back.
Poor quality, poor product
September 22, 2015
In my years of using Amazon Prime, I have never received such a disappointing package. Once I opened the package I found that several parts were slightly damaged. Once I began to put the product together, it was soon evident that nothing fit together. Had the product assembled as it was intended to, I would still have been disappointed because it amazes me how poor the quality of the product is. Either I have received a parts that did not pass quality assurance, or people who have rated this product highly are even higher than I am. I am aware that this stand is not exactly "expensive" and I don't and never expected excellent built, but I at least expected a product that would satisfy its purpose. This stand is obsolete. Buy any other stand, spend a couple more bucks, but don't buy this stand.
Very Unstable
June 3, 2015
Absolutely horrible. It arrived today and I could not believe how unstable the stand is in its design. The rear leg is very short and the base to hold the guitar is high enough that any slight motion on either side will cause the guitar to fall over.Another key issue is the warning that comes along with the stand."NOT RECOMMENDED FOR GUITARS WITH NITRO CELLULOUS LACQUER FINISH. THE MATERIAL OF FOAM MIGHT CAUSE UNEXPECTED CHEMICAL REACTION THAT MAY DETERIORATE THE FINISH."Not sure what the Nitro Cellulous is, but I am not putting my guitar into this stand. Finally, the product is not part of the Amazon family of items, so I must pay for the return. So bottom line, inexpensive probably means cheap and I should have known better.Pass on this stand.
Don't buy this if you care about your guitar.
February 11, 2015
Don't trust this stand. I have a $3200 Gibson guitar that I was putting on this stand and the neck cradle came off - the metal was just too weak and came off. I'm lucky I caught it and it the sharp edges where it broke didn't scratch my guitar.
