fantastic spotting scope!
May 31, 2017
The nicest spotting scope I've had for the range. I saw this scope rated in the top 10 best values for spotting scopes in a recent gun magazine and the price is phenomenal compared to the others on the list. At 100yds, even 17hmr shots are easy to spot.
A must buy for GREAT entry scope.
April 28, 2015
I was a bit sceptical with the price. I have long been searching for a great spotting scope for a good price. I have tested out many different scopes at the range that we have a membership at. I have looked through $1200 to $400 to $300 scopes and made notes.First Test:At home - My neighbors are about 1.3 miles away. The best scopes you could identify eyes and ears on a clear day. The lower end scopes you can tell there is a house and that there is an animal in the yard. The middle of ground scopes you could tell what kind of animal is in the yard and distinguish people walking around easily. This scope was able to almost identify 4 inch features on a human. You were able to see their dogs and would be able to distinguish breed for the most part.Second Test:The Moon:I only tested this scope, it's a Celestron, same maker of my childhood telescope. It was a 7% illuminated on a clear Colorado evening. I could easily distinguish craters and surface features. The scope is larger than I thought it would be and will be hard to keep in my bag for hunting. Great for tripOVERALL:This is a must buy for a spotting scope. I am going to buy this for a present for my parents who live with great views of wildlife and unobstructed mountains.
Great scope, very clear images
February 24, 2015
This thing is awesome. It produces very clear images, has amazing magnification, lighter than expected, and built well. I noticed that a couple people said the clarity is diminished the closer the magnification is to 60X but this is very minimal if anything. I find that the scope produces extremely clear images at every level of zoom. It is still extremely clear at 60X. The images provided in the product description do not do it justice at all. When I first used it to observe the moon at night, I was amazed with how well I could distinguish every little crater, and craters within craters. I'm planning on taking it out to the shooting range as a spotting scope (original reason for purchase) and I have no doubt that it will work great. I'm glad that I didn't spend more on another scope, very happy with my purchase.
WOW!
January 17, 2014
I've a binocular which currently sells for $501.00 It's magnification is 8x.To supplement the binocs for birdwatching, I bought the Celestron scope.Very glad I did, because now I have (at the very least) more than twice the magnification at about a fifth of the cost of the binocs. The scope arrived today (I tried some else's recently) and I've experienced viewing pleasure. No birds around, but I'll probably be looking at the moon tonight.Great value for the money.
Nice scope. Bad telephoto lens.
February 5, 2012
I bought this to use as a spotting scope and to take casual photos of the moon and planets since it comes with a camera adapter. As a spotting scope, it is quite good. It is small and light and appears to have antireflective coatings on all lens surfaces. It does indeed come with a C adapter that can be used with an additional adapter to connect it to an SLR. However, most astrophotographers might assume that it connects the camera to the scope (in so-called prime focus) with the zoom eyepiece removed. Actually, it mates with a thread on the end of the eyepiece once the rubber eye guard is removed. This does work, but it makes for a really back-heavy combination that is hard to point and get steady. Although the eyepiece can be unscrewed from the scope body, the C adapter cannot be connected to the scope body because the threads are wrong and I doubt that the focal length would allow focussing that way anyway. So, as a camera lens, I have to say it is marginal. As a spotting scope, it is fine and the price is right.
Hard to beat for the money
May 28, 2010
I bought the Celestron Ultima 65 (Straight) after looking at other modestly priced spotting scopes for use while target shooting. I looked at Tasco, Bushnell, and Barska models as well. In the same $100 price range as this scope most scopes feature a 60mm objective lens and are rated for 20-60x zoom. I like the fact that this scope only tries to give you 18-55x zoom because frankly, most scopes in this price range at max zoom are nearly useless. The little Celestron is an exception however as it is completely usable at maximum zoom and I attribute that to a larger objective (65mm), better quality glass, and a more reasonable maximum rating.Viewing objects around my neighborhood I quickly decided that in bright daylight there is no doubt this scope will work just fine for me on the 200 yard rifle range that I usually shoot at. Were I shooting longer range I would not have been looking at $100 optics but as I said the scope performs well at 55x. I viewed the moon with it (a bit of a torture test for inexpensive optics) and while it certainly exhibits some color when out of focus it performed amazingly well when in focus. I noted that one does wind up right up on the glass at maximum zoom with very little eye relief (I found my eye glasses uncomfortable to use at maximum zoom) but, again, at least the image was still usable and at more modest zooms it's very comfortable to use. It comes with a T-mount adapter that will allow one to use the scope for photography and at modest magnifications with modest expectations it will work well if pressed into service for this but, frankly, you should be looking at the better ED line of scopes if you're shopping for a photographic tool. The scope is small, very light, and seems well made. The optics look to be well coated. It comes with a handy carrying case that you can zip over the scope while it is mounted on a tripod, but it does not come with any sort of tripod and others in this price range do. This is a good thing in my view because I suspect that it means that more money went into the glass and construction. In short, I was pleasantly surprised and I found this scope to be the pick of the litter when it comes to inexpensive 60-65mm objective spotting scopes that I tested. Some in this price range (or perhaps $20 less expensive) were just terrible. For the money I don't think you can go wrong with this scope but please do make sure that it's the size that you really need. If you're going to spend more time at 50-60x and less at 15-30x you may wish to spend more and get better brightness and perhaps more eye relief with another scope that features a larger objective and/or better glass.

Great Spotting Scope
August 25, 2017
the 125x magnification on this is incredible! Excellent when using on the shooting range. Eliminates all doubt on where the bullets are hitting the target. At 100yards you can read the fine print on the target. Plus, it comes with a hard case to keep it safe and tri-pod for easy set up. Very impressed.
Exceeds expectations.
March 27, 2017
For the price, I am extremely satisfied. It exceeds expectations. The attached photo shows a railroad crossing sign that is 1300 yards away. The other shows a target at 75 yards...each square is 1" across. the fishbowl effect in the first is because I didn't have the camera lined up right and the sun was to my back. I put a little piece of tape as a sunshade between my camera and the eye piece and it's better now in the second photo. This is absolutely a great value given the serviceable quality. The tripod and it's adjustments are metal. Which was a surprise. I had a plastic tripod with a spotting scope previously and it was very shaky. This thing is very solid.
love it
November 1, 2016
Wow, the quality was far better than we expected. We watch the whales with it after we received it I wished we had bought the one with the cell phone adapter. It is light weight easy to use.
but i did test it out at the park and you can see pretty clear zoomed in and zoomed out
May 3, 2016
Mainly bought this for when i go to the range. I havent got a chance to yet, but i did test it out at the park and you can see pretty clear zoomed in and zoomed out. So far i have no complaints.
excellent scope
December 18, 2014
Everything is excellent quality. The cases are tough and well built. The front 88mm lens cap has a hard time staying on I use a rubber band to keep it from fallung off in the cases. As explained in product description the further the object is the narrower your view is. Picture provided is of a house 1000+ yards from me I had to lower the magnification inorder to get a picture.
Whether Spotting a Practice Target or Viewing Things in Nature, these are Great.
February 1, 2014
I have owned at least 3 spotting scopes over the years, but this is the first one I've ever had that is not only very powerful, but that also focuses with PERFECT sharpness and clarity at any magnification. I am very happy that I can magnify so much and still see things with absolutely no loss of brightness or focus.

No it won't work in carrying through the woods but set up from a stationary vantage point on a solid tripod it should satisfy my needs
October 10, 2017
Bought this with idea of using it for bird watching and using it in digiscoping. No it won't work in carrying through the woods but set up from a stationary vantage point on a solid tripod it should satisfy my needs. I took my first video holding an action cam next to the eyepiece and recorded a blue jay in bird bath from around 15-20 yards. Think I was set up at 40X magnification. To see it in YouTube use search use words "Blue Jay Celestron". I don't think a posted video will look clear from here.I have used a Lightdow LD action cam and a Pentax Optio S40 though the eyepiece to record. Nothing easy about it even with my recently purchased adapter. First time user of a Spotting Scope so nothing to compare it to but I thought it was surprisingly clear and had overall good optics.Pic1 - From action cam video (18 yds. 40X??) Pic2- Pentax Optio s40 (80 yds 40X?) - Point &shoot type Pentax zoomed in with Optical zoomVideo - (18 yds.40X) Lightdow LD4000 Action cam zoomed in with digital zoom

Used it a lot at first, now mostly it sits in the corner on a tripod...but at least if I need to get up close and personal it's there.
Pretty impressive, for the price
April 8, 2016
Pretty impressive, for the price. That's the key here - for the price. There is some chromatic aberration especially noticeable at higher magnification that is to be expected at this price point. Eye relief could be a little better as well - but, again - the price is right.

October 26, 2014
I ordered the 18-55x65 first. The clarity was ok, but not great. Probably still better than anything else in the price range. I ended up with the 20-60x80 and it's far better and worth the additional cost. I can see bullet holes at 300 easily in paper plate targets (haven't tried farther). I've also checked out big game at 800 yards and it does a good job.Overall, the 80mm objective is an amazing scope at this price. No disappointments.
A good buy for the money.
October 23, 2014
I am happy with this scope considering the price I paid for it. True, I don't get the field of view nor the clarity that scopes costing 4 times as much or more, but it works well. At the higher powers, focusing needs a little care, but it is sharper and brighter than my 60 mm scope it replaced. It balances well on the tripod ad is not as heavy as I thought it would be. I do have a couple of complaints, but they are minor. First, the rubber eyepiece falls off easily, I am considering a dot of super glue to hold it on. Secondly, it came with just a soft case whereas some of its competitors provide a (inexpensive) hard case. That would have been nice. All in all though, it performs better than I would have expected for the price. It is easily capable of picking out .22 cal holes in the target at 200 m and .30 cal holes at 300 m.
Perfect spotting scope.
June 13, 2014
I originally needed a spotting scope for range shooting. This particular model is not very practical for my particular application because of its size and weight, it is a bit bulky and requires a good quality tripod. It is however an excellent spotting scope, I loved the clear sharp images it gives even at full magnification. Even at night I could clearly see inside windows many miles away so it does capture a lot of light. One thing I didn't like is the tripod I received with it in the box which is of extremely low cheap chinese quality, I wish they did not send it as it just added to the weight and size of the package and I had to pay a lot more for shipping (I forward my shipments abroad). It is flimsy, weak and awkward to use. I am using my Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod with an 804RC2 head with this scope and get great stability and control.Another thing which did not work for me is the 93402 T-Ring which I got to mount my Nikon D7000 camera body. The pictures I got were mediocre at best, looked fuzzy, lacked sharpness and detail.

You get what you pay for, it costs less and is just not a good, but it works.
February 22, 2017
Certainly not the greatest spotting scope I have ever used, but the most cost effective. It works, yes it is not as clear as scopes that cost several hundred dollars more, but you get what you pay for. If you want Nikon or Leupold quality, spend the extra money. this gets the job done for much less, if you can tolerate the slightly less quality.
Product has a few minor flaws but exellent product for the price. **I easily solve the can't get clear image past 24x
July 10, 2015
So all the users that say it won't get clear...aren't understanding something. The focus dial at the end appears to only have a small amount of range. You have to go against your fears and crank it past the "seeming endpoint" to reveal several more threads of focus. By doing that you can easily focus at all zoom depths. My product arrived well packaged. It does however have a single small spot on lense that appears to be inside lense; so i can't wipe it off and gets a star deduction. For the price, you get a lot of scope for the money and i do highly recommend it. Just don't get sucked into the reviews "it won't focus" because it does a fine job doing that. I will say when on higher zoom setting its difficult to see through reticle without putting your eye close; to the point where you likely will have to remove safety glasses which may be a deal breaker.
Better than they used to be
December 23, 2013
I had to get a new spotter because those little holes are getting harder to see at 100 yds, in anything less than high-noon. This does the trick. Barska products are better than they used to be. The certainly give you more junk than just a plain scope. The only cheesy part is the general purpose table stand. Many vendors package this with their offerings. get a good floor-stand. Use sandbags because this thing is heavy.
Good value for the money
October 21, 2013
The Benchmark is a good value for the money, Some may see the 125X and expect a 1000m scope, but it's not.I took it to Atlantic City and was able to read street signs from about a mile out. looking at the beach was not as clear because of the mirage effects. It's almost too heavy for the tripod, you have to move the feet around otherwise it will fall forwards. Use this tripod to take selfies while your boss thinks you're working, but for wildlife spotting or shooting you should spend 20-30 bucks on a tripod and then you get your money out of this optic.
Surprised by this product!

THIS REVIEW IS AT 100 YARDS with .223At first,I was a bit skeptical about this item, especially at 99 bucks(you get what you pay for, right?).I dialed the scope at 25X magnification. The image took up the whole eye piece asnd could see my target, clearly. At 50X, I could read my writing along with the entire grid of my target.75X magnificatin the image in the eye piece shrank to half the size and had to tweak the focus til the image was clear(took some time but it looked clear.100 and 125X, the image from the piece was tiny and when zoomed in I was still able to see the bullseye rings and holes from the rounds that hit.It took alot of tweaking to get a clear picture, but it is possible. Now, the only thing that I can compare this to is my Nikon Prostaff 3-9X40 scope and it is a step down or two from image quality.OVERALL, I'm happy with it.It came with softshell case, hardshell case, strap, tabletop tripod(which I am going to replace with a better quality one) and cleaning cloth.
very good scope for the money
February 8, 2009
I have used this spotting scope for both sighting in a 22 rifle and for looking at eagles. I could see the the bullet holes in the white fine. Some of the holes in the black I could not see. This was at about 100 yds on a bright sunny day. At 100 yds I could get a decent image up to 75 power. Focusing on a fence pole at about 250 yds I could get a decent image all the way to 125 power. With the included hand grip on the scope I was pleasantly surprised by how well I could see and follow flying eagles. This scope is well worth the money.

Okay for the money
January 18, 2017
I bought the scope to shoot a .223 at 100 yards, which should have been well within the range of the scope. It does not come with a tripod, but I have an old entry level camcorder tripod, so that was fine. Before I took it to the range we looked at a full moon and were pleased with the image definition. Trying it out on the tripod, I noticed that the weight of the front of the scoped pulled down the focus point, as other reviewers have noted. There is an accessory available with the 100mm scope to put between the mount and the scope to move the balance point, I don't know if you can buy it separately. The real problem for me was the performance at the range. Using standard black and white targets on a mildly overcast day, we struggled to make out holes at 100 yards. The bluing at the periphery was noticeable at max zoom, but not an issue for us. On splatter burst targets it worked fine, but that should be true of pretty much any level of scope. I returned the scope and ordered color burst targets. We'll see how it works out.

October 3, 2016
I will just say this: This is one of those "You get what you pay for". I bought this scope for spotting bullet holes in targets and I probably should have paid closer attention to the reviews. I only wanted to be able to see .223 holes at 100yds. I didn't think that was asking too much for this scope. Come to find out, it was! Also, you can pretty much forget about the 55x zoom unless you have it mounted to a tank. Anyways, I don't want to completely just tear this scope apart. it seems to be built very well, but if you are going to be using it for identifying small holes in a black target; I would not recommend it unless your conditions are absolutely perfect on the range. Clarity is a little less than desired. I can't comment on bird watching or star gazing, but if you're looking for stability then I would probably just spend the extra money or I would make absolutely sure that you have a state of the art tripod to mount this thing on. Good luck.
I must say that this is good for the money but not great
June 6, 2016
After several uses, I must say that this is good for the money but not great. While the high zoom capability is nice feature, you may be better off with less zoom and more clarity. At full zoom it is very hard to see your target.
Not what I expected
September 19, 2015
Item was received in a timely fashion but it was missing the tripod mount and the 100mm lens cap was broken. Celestron customer service stepped up to the plate and sent me a replacement lens cap and the tripod adapter at no cost. I call that customer service. Amazon's rating said that it would be suitable to be presented as a gift I don't agree with that.ThanksJerry Sharp
Good for the money
July 30, 2015
So far so good, works as expected. It's not a top of the line scope, but what do expect for the price. I can see the bullet holes at 100yrds on a cloudy day. I'll have to report back when i try it on a 200yrd range, the eye relief could be better, i have to position myself just right in order to see the image.
A good scope for land use, but not for astronomy
January 23, 2014
This is not an APO refractor, so at high power, there are some color halos around objects. This is more of a problem with astronomy than it is with terrestrial viewing. But for a spotting scope at 20-30 power, it's quite good with clear images. It's a bit heavy, so for terrestrial viewing, you might want to get the 80 mm scope. For viewing in the dark, the Regal scope, which is APO, would be better, but it's a bit more expensive.

Tripod broke on first try. From 25 to 50 is crystal clear, at 75 is good but after that colors will shift a little and if you don't have a super solid tripod it will be very shaky.
You get what you pay for but decent for the price
January 1, 2015
You get what you pay for but I knew that when I bought it. What other reviewers are saying is pretty much what I've experienced. At the lowest power it's pretty good clarity but zoom in to 125x and it's usable but pretty blurry. I didn't have a spotting scope and this will do until I can buy a better one. The goodies that came with it are a nice addition for the price. Again if you're not super concerned about clarity this will do but I've looked through other glass that is much higher quality.
Good scope for the money
October 8, 2014
I was not expecting much from this inexpensive scope but it surprised me.The optics are quite nice, not as clear as the more expensive scopes but not bad.The focus ring takes some getting used to. It is difficult to adjust but with patience one can achieve a nice focus.32 CAL bullet holes can be clearly seen at 200 yards with 90 power zoom.Overall a good scope for the money.
Well.............................
March 28, 2014
For the money, the scope is very acceptable. The tri pod and handle are Ok as well. For those that suggest the tri pod is worthless I would suggest they simply widen the stance of the tri pod when on a table for a more secure base. Its certainly not a class piece but far from worthless. The rubber cover ring for the 88mm lens is not. It simply won'y stay on. What is a bigger concern is the case. Its metal ( plus one ) but one of the latches won't secure properly. ( minus one ) And I sure don't want to walk around and have it come open and the scope fall out and break. I guess a simple fix would be a belt or strap or maybe fashion another latch system. Of course the buyer shouldn't have to but sometimes a simple fix can be much less frustrating than going thru the hassle of sending it back. I'm debating returning it but the most important part is the scope and that works. It would be great if one could simply return the case and cover for replacement and keep the rest but it seems you have to return the whole works. I would have given it 5 stars had the case and cover ring be OK. The plus's outweigh the minus.April, 2, 2014 Tried this out at the range ( which is why I purchased it ) in cloudy damp conditions. The scope worked.. a bit hard to keep steady when focusing but I did try it out to 100 yards at maximum power. I could clearly see .22 caliber holes on a black and then a white target. It will be interesting to see how it works in bright sunshine.. it can only be better. I'd raise it to 3 and 1/2 stars after today's performance. As others have noted the field of view is greatly diminished as all scopes are when using at max power.
Really? I mean reallly?
December 22, 2013
I received the scope in a very short time which was great. Once I opened up the box and started going through everything the first thing I noticed was that the front lens cover would not stay on the scope. It is made of a really cheep piece of plastic. The only way to keep the lens cover on the scope would be to tape it on. The other thing I noticed was that to focus the scope was by turning the front lens. Really? Guess I should have done some more research on the scope. Hope that this isn't a show stopper. It is below zero here right now so I will have to wait for it to get a little warmer before using it outside.I will update more in the future.
Decent product light weight, medium resolution
November 9, 2013
This is a plastic telescope with the optical performance of plastic. The product kit is complete and has both a hand grip and a sturdy table top tripod. For field use a longer tripod is needed. For the shooting range or back yard birding (my uses) the short tripod is fine. I have added checking the tripod screws for tightness to my seasonal checklist. The focus is by rotating the objective of the telescope, and took about 30 complete cycles from maximum to minimum distance before it broke in. Focus is reasonably sharp, but far from astronomical or photographic quality.Nice large aperture for light gathering, and generally bright image.

Disappointed
March 24, 2017
I am pretty experienced with many scopes for astronomy and wildlife; I have expensive and cheap ones, and usually know what to expect when I buy optics. I bought this because I needed a relatively inexpensive scope to take camping and in situations where it could be damaged or stolen. Overall, I am unhappy with the optical quality. The large objective makes a very bright image this is great and why I picked it. It seems fairly rugged for the price. However, I find that it is only useful at the very lowest 20X magnification. At that magnification, the images are pretty good. However, the decrease in quality with increased magnification is very rapid. It is not unusual for sharpness to degrade with magnification, but on this scope the degradation is dramatic. It also suffers from significant color fringing (chromatic aberration) that also, rapidly degrades with increased magnification. The focus control is quite coarse, so it is difficult to get a perfect focus. Another disappointment is the "eye relief". This is the distance the eye must be from the eyepiece. On this scope, it is hard to see the whole field of view with glasses. So, I recommend if you need need a bright image, but only at low magnifications. It is a very poor performer for looking at the moon or planets, also. I haven't checked it out on the shooting range, it might work out a little better there.

March 3, 2016
I had to return mine. If you wear glasses, this scope is pretty much useless at any magnification greater than 20x due to the eye relief being so narrow (you have to have your eyeball almost touching the glass in order to see the whole view).

November 28, 2014
UPDATE.Here is an update that I'm listing at the top instead of bottom----------- .Nothing has changed on my review of this scope, "very disapointing,And buyer beware, something looks a little fishy with the reviews madein the last year-----Many 5 star reviews with only one sentence given.Manufacturer or Dealers trying to up the ratings? I don't know but it lookssuspicious. Really, the optics are below average, no way a 5 or 4 star.Very disappointed, based on the excellent reviews I thought for the price thiswould do well. I bought for viewing the surrounding mountains and some star gazing,The Pros, seems well built and looks good, thats about it.The cons, anything above low power looks kind of hazy even on a clear day and it does not focus sharply.Pay attention to the more negative reviews on this one (I didnt) as they will probably give you a better perspectiveon what to expect and why not to buy. If I were a hunter needing a good spotting scope, this would not be it.
Disappointing image quality
May 9, 2013
I own/have owned a number of optically excellent high end Celestron items and this item just turned out to be a disappointment. I bought this primarily to observe a bird feeder in our backyard, about 50 yards away. Here's what I didn't like:* Narrow apparently field of view of eyepiece. I'd be surprised if the apparent field of view exceeded 35 degrees. Modern *cheap* eyepieces routinely have 50+ degrees AFOV (expensive ones can go up significantly more). This coupled with a fairly high power and an utterly unusable "finder scope" makes target location difficult.* Optics don't support powers above 20x: the view gets dim, fuzzy and chromatic aberration effects start to become apparent in the form of purple fringing. Now, there's not much you can do about chromatic aberration without using more expensive ED glass, but having powers up to 55 in this scope is just not a good idea. If this scope were supplied with two good quality non-zoom eyepieces, topping out at, say, 30x, this would be a more realistic spotter.* There's an adaptor ring to connect to a T-ring to allow projection imaging using a DSLR, such as a Canon Rebel. This has to be a cruel joke perpetrated by bored workers in the factory. People with cataracts probably see better than the image formed in this way. Perhaps using afocal imaging (using a camera with a lens attached peering into the eyepiece) may give better results but I didn't try as I didn't have the right adaptor for my older Nikon 4500.* The adaptor ring is to be attached to the eyepiece by removing the rubber guard, exposing the threads underneath, and screwing it in. Once you further screw the adaptor into a DSLR T-ring, the adaptor ring get stuck in the eyepiece and needs extreme measures to loosen. But it's not all bad:* Decent image quality IF you stay at 18x and no more* Lightweight* Excellent coatings on the lenses and eyepiece* Nice carrying case.I really wanted to like this spotter but since the primary objective of the spotter isn't fulfilled, I'm regretfully giving it 2 stars.

The eye relief is horrible. And I compared it with a 35x spotting scope a friend had and it wasn't as good. 125x NOT!
Lenses could be better
February 15, 2014
I have had this for a little over a year and I wish I would've saved my money and got something that was a little more expensive because the lens on this spotting scope suck from day one out of the box first day you use took it outside and looked through it to do some shooting spotting and the lenses were fogged up and I figured it was from going inside outside and condensation getting built up inside the tube in that was not the case after about two hours in the sun the lenses were still fogged my advice save your money get a little bit better spotting scope
Roor Design
May 29, 2013
I feel that it is a poor design in more than one respect.Focusing is by adjusting the front ring and is akward to do while looking thru the scope, difficult as the focus ring is very tight and hard to do while viewing. As to focusing, the scope doesn't stay in focus when changing magnification power. It is not truly a zoom scope but would better be described as a varifocal type. The tripod attachment point is not at the center of balance and the included tripod is flimsy and unstable. It came in a nice case, which is where it will spend most of it's life before landfill.
I guess it as described.

Tripod is worthless, optic is to lens heavy for it. Tips over in any position. Actually disappointed with this purchase. Doesn't focus well feels and reacts like a $25 optic. Box is very nice. All in all I believe the description is deceiving once you get the optic home. Spend lots of money on Amazon usually don't have thus problem. Shipping was great as usual from Amazon..
good for the price - but didn't last long
January 4, 2013
***EDIT Spring 2013***This scope lasted about 3 months before the insides of the eye-piece fell apart. Email to the company (BARSKA) about a warranty got no response. I haven't tried calling yet to see if I can get through to them that way... I had expected it to last a lot longer than this, even for the price. I had only used it about a dozen times before it broke... I'm not sure that I'm really going to pursue a warranty - I might just save up for a scope closer to $1,000...***end EDIT***I was nervous buying a scope that was not more than a tenth the price of most I see in reviews of birding scopes. I was pleasantly surprised that it works quite nicely.I wish the eyepiece had more forgiving eye-relief - I have to take off my glasses to use it. That was expected, but was a detail I had a hard time finding in reviews. As long as I take off my glasses and put my eye right to it, it works great.I still haven't figured out how to take decent digiscoped pictures through it - I don't know if that's just me, or if that's something about how this scope is constructed. It works decently well, but having the focus control be the entire wide ring at the end of the whole scope is a bit inconvenient. Until I got used to it, it felt like I was going to end up disassembling the scope when I turned it.It's definitely not a $3k scope, but I don't think I feel like the ones that are a few thousand are enough better to pay that much more, at this point anyway.By the way, get a real tripod. The one it comes with is just a tiny little table-top thing that really doesn't work well at all. I got "Celestron Heavy-Duty Altazimuth Tripod" - it's definitely overkill, but feels stable, and the controls to rotate and tip it are very sensitive, i.e. you can move it very small amounts. Other tripods I've touched, it's very hard to control it precisely.
Not up to my expectations
June 17, 2012
I bought this product for observing nature on a trip to the Mendocino coast. I was not happy with it as the resolution at the max was unsatisfactory at as focused as I could get it. It is also front heavy relative to the tripod mount making it difficult to aim at a subject even when mounted on a heavy video tripod as it always sags when the tripod adjustment handle is released. I therefore immediately returned it to Amazon. It's possible my expectations were too high for the price but I knew I would never be satisfied with it and would probably not be inclined to use it if I kept it.

Worse was the inability to move the eye off axis ...
September 28, 2017
Had it for 2 days before returning. Images had a yellowish tint and were not sharp even at 100 yards and at lowest magnification. Worse was the inability to move the eye off axis from the eyepiece, even a slight amount, without blacking out the image. Will try the Meade next and the Redfield after that if necessary. I know some might say that I should spend more to get a better spotter but this would only be used occasionally at the range and a much higher cost just isn't justifiable.
Celesron QA/QC is disastrous - engineering very low standard - probably best to avoid
January 27, 2017
I need to warn potential purchasers of my experience. The device arrived but the engineering is extremely poor such that the screw thread on the tripod balance plate was not tested to mae sure it fitted the supplied plate. SInce the device sould bot be mounted i have no way of telling inthe optics are a dreadful as the metalwork but I did notice the exceedingly flimsy lens cap. I have been promised a replacement that might work and if so I will consider writing another review but, based on present experience, this is probably not a wise choice - you might get the one I am sending back.A pity as the specs looed quite attractive

Very poor Eye relief! no options to upgrade or improve I relief
Not as expected.

I read all the reviews both good and bad before I bought this. Unfortunately the quality was just not there. Could never get it to focus crisply at any distance and I was using a well made tripod so I returned it.
Go to about 25 yards

Blurry at higher zoom levels.
It would be nice if it wasn't broken.

(Ultima 80 straight) A small lens the size of a penny fell out of the eye piece. I don't believe this is supposed to happen. No issue getting it back into place but it won't stay in. There are times this small lens falls inside the eyepiece and gets trapped, which renders the scope useless until the lens is retrieved, approx 5-10 minutes later. I first thought the lens were scratched until I looked closer and realized the eyepiece lens were unbelievably dirty and smudged. It took me a good 50-60 minutes to clean all the lens they were so bad. They are still not entirely clean. But vastly improved. The lens cloth that comes with it is useless, luckily I have enough lens rags from all my rifle scopes. The scope itself appears to be rugged, the carrying case fits well and has a now feature that allow you to keep the case on while using. The targeting sight on the side is also handy.I had high hopes for a relatively high power inexpensive spotting scope because so many people seemed to like it, but with a broken eyepiece I will be returning it.

Get the Colorado!
August 20, 2017
Barska is not a bad scope, but this one is horrible. I got it thinking the 125x would be better than the 90x90 Colorado, it's not, I sent it back. The barska Colorado is far better scope, the image is closer and clearer! Get the Barska Colorado.
Increase the magnification and it is nearly useless. Max setting is a joke
November 10, 2016
Clear optics on lowest of settings. Increase the magnification and it is nearly useless. Max setting is a joke. locking handle broke at threads making the cheap stand go to landfill on 2nd use. Cheap price. Cheap unit Save up and but a actual spotting scope

Could not focus at 300 yards
Hard to see thru and terrible to focus
March 2, 2016
Hard to see thru and terrible to focus. When you do get it focused the eyepiece is so tiny that it is really hard to see your target I definitely would not recommend this spotting scope if you are serious about trying see the target downrange .The product looks great and comes with a cool hard and soft case. I'm just saying. I am a first time spotting scope buyer and was trying to save some money in lieu of using binoculars at the range.
Poor Quality
May 24, 2013
The images and manufacturer write up look great, however the product is poor. Focus adjustment is extremely difficult due to the design. I have attempted to use it at an indoor and an outdoor range and have ended up borrowing one from the local range due to the issues with this design. The hard case started pulling apart on day one just by picking it up by the handle. Don't waste your time or money on this product.
Barska Bechmark
May 22, 2013
It is unfortunate that this product did not work well for me. Barska puts out very good products and I may have gotten a defective one. It would not focus at 25 yards and I figured it was me doing something wrong. However, the following weekend I went shooting and set a target out at 100 yards; again I could not get scope to focus properly. Like I said, maybe I just ended up with a defective item. Though I gave it one star it does not mean I hate the product but rather the product did not work for me.
