Five Star Reviews: | 51% Great buy May 2, 2017 This was 1 of many spotting scopes here on amazon and I felt for the price and contents that come with this was the best buy for the money. Upon receiving it was very impressed with the scope and the case that came with. This is a very good budget minded spotting scope April 23, 2017 When I first received this product I was very impressed with the presentation of packaging and everything that was included with the purchase. My representation came with a locking hard case, a soft case, a protective covering, a tripod, and a microfiber cloth. This is a very good budget minded spotting scope. I have used this scope a couple of times now and it does everything that it's supposed to do the only negative, as others have stated, was that the eye relief isn't that good. I kind of knew this going in, and expected it so I can't ding it any stars for that. If you want a scope that zooms like it's supposed to and focuses easily with good glass for the $120 plus price point this product is for you. Awesome piece of gear with easy setup October 11, 2016 Awesome piece of gear with easy setup. Some reviews claim that it is a little hard to focus, but this is a spotting scope, not a pair of nature binoculars. A little bit of skill is required to adjust on target The perfect spotting scope! November 11, 2013 Perfect size and zoom capabilities! I was looking for something to see between 25 - 100 yards and this thing hits them all, and the image is crystal clear...planning to buy another. | 59% Nice spotting scope. Definitely worth the price April 25, 2017 I haven't had a chance to use this hunting, but i've set it up at home a couple times to test out and the view is amazing through this. The zoom and clarity is really good. I can read writing on signs a couple hundred yards away. I'm planning on using this the next time I sight in gun. With binoculars, it was difficult seeing where I hit on the target, so I was always having to walk closer. Now, I can set this up, shoot, then easily see where I hit without leaving my spot. This is my first spotting scope, so I don't have another spotting scope to compare it to, but I have used a range of low and high quality binoculars so I have an expectation of what the quality should be. This is a really good quality scope and i'm excited to see how well it will work this coming hunting season, especially long distance and in low light conditions which I can already tell this scope does a great job at.I'm giving this 5 stars based only on the spotting scope, and the case it came in. The tripod is pretty cheap and I would give that 2 stars. It does the job, but the material feels cheap and the quality is not comparable to the spotting scope. I don't think it's fair to rate the spotting scope lower than 5 stars because of the tripod. I was planning on purchasing a better tripod anyways, so it's not a big deal to me. Tripod works just fine. August 13, 2016 I read a lot of reviews about a lousy tripod and that it’s worthless and that concerned me, but I'm a Bushnell guy and thought I'd give it a try.. Really these reviews about a bad tripod are just not true. Newsflash for everyone…..the scope is front heavy. One leg of the tripod has to be facing in the direction of the scope, if you don’t do that yea the scope will tip over. Overall this is a great product for the money, I think you will be very happy with it. Best purchase for my needs, quick ship, easy to use. March 15, 2016 Sighting in a rifle is a lot easier with one of these. Tried a couple that guys had at the range (don't remember brands) but they were not has good as this one.Added a few dollars for quick delivery and had it in less than 24 hours, just in time for the day at the range. Got to the range, cut open the shipping box, opened the hard-case (the soft-case is shipped in the lower part of the hard-case) and had it up and using it in less then 10 minutes.I put this scope to the left of the table-top bench-rest my rifle was on (used a square-metal frame with a seat and table type of range-bench about 3 feet wide) and all I had to do was lean over and view the holes in the black & white target set-up at a 100 yards. It was a fair-weather day, sun with a few clouds, but I could see the holes even if the sun was clouded over.I used it to watch other shooters with small caliber rifles (.223) hitting metal target plates between 200 and 450 yards away. Had no trouble seeing the impacts at any of those ranges. For the price, this scope far exceeded my expectations. I agree with other reviewers in their opinion that a log-legged tripod would work best if you have a friend spotting for you. If your going to an outdoor range and have 1X or irons.... 100 yards you'll NEED this. June 5, 2015 Extremely good value. The tripod everyone complains about is for an outdoor seated range. It does that perfectly.I've been bird watching with it after taking it too the range. Good to 300 yards February 3, 2015 Perfect for spotting targets at 300 yards. Haven't used it at a greater distance but would imagine its good out to about 500 yards. The little tripod it comes with is pretty rugged. I would definitely suggest an upgrade for bench shooters. Also comes with 2 nice cases, one hard shell, one soft. Recommended December 2, 2012 Clear view with a great zoom, hard to beat for the price. I was slightly skeptical with some other reviews I read but now that I have used it myself I would easily recommend this to anyone. Buy this spotting scope! |
Four Star Reviews: | 22% I read other reviews about this product and thought folks ... November 30, 2016 I read other reviews about this product and thought folks where being picky....Eye relief does matter! My only real complaint. Scope it out March 23, 2016 Everything works but it is fiddly to set up. I wish I had known that the stand does not expand upwards. Yes, maybe I should have looked closer but it sort of looks as if it does. Otherwise, good viewing and neat and tidy in a fairly small package, if you don't mind getting your head down! Unit worked good on it's first trip thus far up and down ... October 22, 2014 Purchased this compact scope to save space for mountain goat hunting. Unit worked good on it's first trip thus far up and down the mountain's. Handy size and shape. Good accessories. March 11, 2013 I like this scope a lot. It is a lot handier than other spotting scopes and therefore is more likely to be with me when I want it. The fancy carrying box is useless, I gave it to my wife for jewelry. I use the included nylon bag. It'd be better to drop the hard case and the price a little. If you can get by with 36 power, this is a good one for you. Small but Mighty June 29, 2010 I bought this scope specifically for range use. Typically my range and shooting is out to 100 yards. Don't let the size of this scope fool you, it is great for what I needed. Sharp and clear from 7 yards out to 100 yards. Easy to focus, and even .22 rounds at 100 yards are clear on the target. Great buy for my uses. | 22% I absolutely love towatch wildlife February 16, 2017 I was very impressed with the sharpness and range. Purchased it to spot targets at the range, but now I have found so many more uses. I absolutely love to watch wildlife, and can see them up close now. I am happy with this spotting scope February 3, 2017 I am happy with this spotting scope. I have used it several times from a bench top. One and two hundred yard ranges with no issues. I used it to spot steal targets out to 327 yards and beyond. I don't know how it would have been trying to see holes in paper at these longer distances. great for the money December 11, 2016 This spotting scope is pretty nice for the money. I would suggest you guy the proper tripod tho.... cuz that will make a difference for sure. As a big hunting family, we found ourselves frustrated using a 35 year old spotting scope, so I bought this for my husband for his birthday, which is right before hunting season. I can tell you that if I had the money, I would buy a better one.... and thats the only reason why I gave it four stars.... We are huge hunters and as a hunter we only want the best, but this will do till we hit the lotto. I like my new spotting scope August 21, 2015 I like my new spotting scope. I Immediately went to the gun range next day after receiving the package. Works very well for me. It has been mentioned before by other reviewers - the tripod it came with could be better. It does what it is suppose to do but it leaves you wishing for something else more substantial, like stable perhaps? It looks and feels flimsy with skinny little bitty short legs that are not height adjustable but certainly portable. I would not have minded paying a little more for a better tripod. Ofcourse your main body of concern should be on the scope. For now I can live with it since it was a package deal but will be on the lookout for a reasonably priced tripod to use with the scope down the line. Suits my needs! June 17, 2014 This is my first spotting scope, so I don’t know how it compares to others. My intended use will be to spot holes in targets at 100yds. On the 20X setting, I can see .223 size holes in the target. This is on a cloudy day and in a heavily wooded area. This met my expectations.FIELD OF VIEW: The field of view on 20X at 100yds is approximately 8’x8’. On 40X, it is approximately 4’x4’. I’m not sure how this compares to other scopes but this will suit my needs.EYE RELIEF: Eye relief is very short. Since I will only be using it on the tripod, the short eye relief will not be that big a deal. However, I would prefer the eye relief to be longer.TRIPOD: Some reviews complained about the tripod. Mine is fine. With it sitting on my shooting bench, it is plenty sturdy. The tilt mechanism will lock down tight. The legs are also tight and it holds the scope still, which is what I need for spotting .223 size holes at 100yds.DURABILITY: I can’t speak to durability, since I have only used it once.Overall, I am pleased with this scope. It will work for my intended use and I would recommend it to others with the same use. However, since this is my first spotting scope, I don't know if it was the best bang for my buck? Good spotting scope April 26, 2012 Great spotting scope for sighting in my rifles. Optics are quite good up to 300 yds. Good price, as well. I wouldn't plan on packing it along on a trip, though, as it is quite bulky for its function.Stand that comes with it is very flimsy, though, and too small for this size scope; Got a separate tripod and it was worth the extra purchase. One star less that a five because of the tripod and because of the bulk. |
Three Star Reviews: | 8% This is an ok spotting scope. The glass isn't ... February 21, 2016 This is an ok spotting scope. The glass isn't the clearest, but at 100 yards you can see where your shots are hitting. It's functional, but there are nicer spotting scopes out there. great as a spotting scope September 4, 2014 great as a spotting scope. swivel mount was not smooth or easy to adjust. optics where as good as i would have wanted. great for the price, i went to a bushnell binocular instead. Decent budget spotting scope June 25, 2014 For the money, this is hard to beat. I don't do long distance shooting, but I wanted something basic and affordable that I could use for zeroing rifles at my local range. Setting the magnification to 24x makes picking up 5.56mm hits at 50 yards a walk in the park. Unfortunately, the eye relief at this magnification is so short that it precludes the use of eye protection, and I'm pretty uncomfortable being around projectiles moving at 3200fps without adequate safety glasses. Including a tripod is a nice touch, but you get what you pay for - it's a bit of a pain to get the scope lined up just right and then keep it that way while tightening down the tripod.Short and sweet: cheap, decent quality glass, but don't expect to get a Leupold Mk4 at this price. | 10% Would like to zoom in to 60 power and still have ... January 15, 2017 The field of view and clarity goes down with the increase of power. Would like to zoom in to 60 power and still have the same lighting and clarity as with 20 power. Insufficient eye relief February 26, 2016 I had high hopes for this. It's got very clear glass and is a nice scope all in all. But, I had to return mine as the eye relief was non exsistant. It's more like binoculars where you have to put your eye pretty far into the eyepiece, this proves problematic. When you bury your eye into the eyepiece at 60 power it makes your scope vibrate all over the place. But I could see .223 rounds out to 300 on white backgrounds. Decent deal if you get it on sale. May 28, 2015 Good for the price (if you get it on sale). Outside edges are blurred when zoomed in to 60x. The tripod seemed like a cruel joke. Buy your own tripod! Only used it for the target range so far (300 yds), so base all of this review off the 2 experiences I have with it. Good Optic, Bad tripod January 11, 2015 My primary use of this product is for sighting targets on the rifle range. The optics of the scope are reasonably clear even at the higher magnification settings. I like the light gathering ability of the 65mm objective lens which served me well on a recent outing on a cloudy day. The scope could benefit from greater eye relief. I must warn prospective buyers to factor in the cost of a new tripod with this purchase. The tripod shown isn't the one that you will receive with this scope. The provided tripod is weak, flimsy, and lacks vertical adjustment. Amazon should make Bushnell change the photo to the actual tripod. I would have rated this scope four stars if not for the unacceptable tripod. |
Two Star Reviews: | 12% Usually a big fan of Bushnell product, eye relief ... June 6, 2016 Usually a big fan of Bushnell product, eye relief not forgiving very hard to adjust and find target. Less magnification than my 10x power Binocs. Save your $$ buy something else. Poor eye relief broke after the first use January 24, 2016 First if you wear glasses look elsewhere. You must jam your eyeball into the rubber eyepiece to the point of discomfort (my eyelashes were touching the glass) to get an appropriate sight picture. If you're still considering it save another 100$ and get something that will last longer than 5 minutes and that's not an exaggeration. Upon unboxing this you get a good feeling because of the case and accessories then you use it..... The eyepiece rotates to change magnification, that function promptly broke with an audible TINK when I reached 36 power. I now have a fixed 36 power monocular that is non returnable because the wife got it nov 29 for Christmas . By by 30 day return policy . Light Weight in More Ways Than One September 2, 2007 The Bushnell Sentry 12-36 scope provides fair views at 12x in good light, but at higher power the eye relief diminishes rapidly and it becomes unusable to someone wearing glasses and difficult to use without glasses. I was looking for an easy to carry alternate for my 82mm Kowa scope. I intended to use it on a gunstock mount or monopod to get quick views of birds that were too far for my 10x binoculars. I did not find it suitable for this purpose. It comes with a very practical "scope glove", a soft case, and a hard case worthy of a much better instrument. Perhaps Bushnell would have a better product if they had omitted the hard case and spent the money to provide better optics. | 3% Good decent optics for price but very bad QA during manufacturing January 16, 2016 Just opened it. Bought it for going to range. There are two flecks of debris inside the scope. Large one right dead center of the line of sight in the back objective. The optics otherwise look pretty nice for my intended use. Now I get to figure out how to return it. So for this specific unit ... very BAD quality control during manufacturing. Good scope not so good tripod. November 26, 2014 The adjusting screw handle on the tripod does not engage correctly. This causes the scope to flop around and needs constant correction. Not a good thing when trying to quickly sight-in. The scope itself is very good. Disappointed December 8, 2013 I was disappointed with this scope.. for the price I guess it's ok.. but it produces a dim image and it is simply not very good. |
One Star Reviews: | 7% Very poor eye relief March 10, 2017 Eye relief is almost non existent when zoomed. You have to literally push your face into the eyecup to see through the scope. Also the eye piece cover on this unit was cracked inside the case. Very poor QC for Bushnell, returned the item for full refund. | 6% Not a 45 degree like pic shows. April 1, 2017 Picture shows it is a 45 degree scope. It is NOT. Returned. this item is garbage. Spend a little more and get a quality ... March 10, 2017 Junk, after over 6 months of attempted use for feeling foolish for buying it in the first place, this item is garbage. Spend a little more and get a quality spotting scope. Bushnell should be embarassed for putting this on the market! Not even close to the sharpness of my low-cost binoculars June 20, 2014 For $200-plus bucks, I expected more from Bushnell. Will be returning this to Amazon and will update everyone as soon as I hear back. I think maybe this one was defective. Disappointed October 26, 2013 Having had some great success with Bushnell products recently - I thought I'd try this spotting scope. I was very disappointed to say the least. Mine came with a number of product flaws out of the box (including a big "drip" on the inside of the front objective lens). Overall fit and finish was sorely lacking. Image quality and clarity was poor. Sent these back for refund and I probably will not be trying another Bushnell spotting scope. Not worth your money or trouble August 18, 2013 Took it to the range for the first time today, it never worked out of the box. Could not focus at 100yds. I tried different magnification but it never zoomed in. Am returning it immediately. |
