Great budget solution
June 25, 2017
Use it from Sept, 2016. Currently, over 1000 miles on odometer and no complains. Excelent water resistance, found myself under pouring rain on numerous occasions. I do recommend this computer. Still, you have to know, if you want to update the clock, you'll have to reset the computer and loose your odometer data. Now, it is 3 minutes behind.
Accurate and just the right size
January 16, 2017
Works great. Instructions weren't that great on installation, but I managed to figure it out. Very accurate, good size. Large enough to read easily even for my 63 year old eyes, yet unobtrusive. I like it a lot.
Does everything I need.
October 13, 2016
This computer replaced an old wireless Nashbar computer. This is larger and brighter than by previous one and has all the basic functions I need. I'm a bit of a retro grouch so I don't need all those functions that the so called "serious" bikers use. I did buy the Velochampion handlebar mount to get it a little higher and out front. Both have served me well so far. I had my old computer for over 10 years and hope this lasts as long.
Enhancing my riding experience for just a few bucks!!!
June 26, 2016
I had my doubts about this based on the price. Would it be accurate? Would it last more than a few rides? Would it be easy to set up? The answers are: pretty much, yep, and sorta.Accuracy: It seems to come in pretty close to my GPS tracker app on a 20 mile ride. Of course, any inaccuracy would be magnified over greater distance, and I can't really vouch for the GPS' accuracy, so pretty much accurate in my opinion.Durability: After several hundred miles on two different bikes, it still works! I even got stuck in a serious drenching rain and it continued working. Riding in that kind of rain really sucks so I don't recommend it...but at least I knew how fast and how far I went.Ease of Set-up: Fairly intuitive for most things, but after several months now I can't seem to get the clock to accept any input. If you really want to use the clock feature, you can reset it at midnight and you'll be good to go. Otherwise, just ignore the clock. I also don't really get some of the other functions like average and CO2 emissions. I don't care about those other functions, but not having a basic workable clock is annoying. Not annoying enough to lose a star, though, because I can tell the time by looking at my fitness-tracking watch or on my phone.Recently, about halfway through a ride, it quit working. I was seriously bummed! I felt sort of like I lost an important part of my riding experience (though not, of course, the most important). It turns out I had just knocked the sensor a bit when I had locked up my bicycle. Totally my fault. I was really happy to have my speedometer and odometer back!Overall, this CatEye bicycle computer is good deal and I'm really happy with it!
If there is better, I dont know how..
April 21, 2016
Instructions are printed very small. But once you break out the magnifying glass (NOT KIDDING) they are complete and easy to follow. Bought for my fixie and didn't want a lot of wires or big screen cluttering the looks. This is great, hardly notice it. And the screen is big enough for even old eyes to read without glasses.
Great computer for the casual rider
August 12, 2012
This bike computer is very well designed. It is relatively big and it is easy to read. It is also simple to use. It provides only the data the casual rider generally needs. I also found it easy to install. It has replaced a smaller wired Cateye I was using. The wireless is a big improvement, as is the larger, easier to read size. Highly recommended and well worth the cost.

May 20, 2017
This thing works perfectly for me. I put 1400 miles onto it before I took a break from biking. It held up during that time. My only problem with it is the battery eventually died and when you swap out the battery you lose all of your data. So there goes my Max speed and my overall odometer. But it does work well when the battery is alive.
Initially didn't work, place the sensor on the front wheel!
March 10, 2016
UPDATE: After placing the sensor on the front wheel the computer worked fine, it doesn't say it in the instructions but it does say that sensor and computer must be placed within 75 cm distance, which in practice rules out the rear wheel for most regular size bikes.Unfortunately the computer worked only for a few minutes, I even took it to a professional bike shop to make sure it wasn't an installation issue and they couldn't get it to work either, I've purchased this brand before without any problems but it wasn't the case with this one. Delivery was good, as advertised.
Great computer
January 19, 2016
Great computer, easy to set up and install, easy to read and use while cycling. Be sure to set up the computer with tire size, etc., before installing on the bike. Maintaining the maximum allowed distance between sensor and magnet, and sensor and computer can be challenging, but my computer worked fine with maximum distances exceeded. My front fork includes shock absorbers which results in a large distance between the sensor and magnet, thus requiring the sensor to be significantly turned in toward the wheel spokes. Only gave this four stars because the instructions are definitely as bad as previous reviewers have noted. Go to the CatEye website and watch the installation videos first. Then the provided instructions make sense.
Sender unit stopped working after 30 days, but CatEye sent a new one free of charge.
October 30, 2015
After about one month the sender unit was working intermittently and then stopped working completely. I determined that the handle bar receiver was fine by checking it against a sender on another bike. I put a new battery in the sender and got a brief signal, but then it stopped sending within a few seconds. I moved the magnet within a millimeter of the sender and still no signal received. A previous unit has worked fine for over one year. There is a quality control problem at CatEye. Beware because there are no returns after 30 days.I revised this review from one star to four because CatEye sent me a new sensor unit in less than a week. There was a simple online form to fill out at the CatEye website and they responded immediately by sending me the replacement free of charge.
Works well except that the wireless signal gets interrupted by my blinking headlight
October 16, 2015
I really like this trip computer and the wireless aspect is really nice. It's easy to reset at the end or beginning of any trip. It pauses automatically when you stop. I've put over 1200 miles on my bike in 20-30 mile increments with this computer and have had no problems. Well, one odd problem I've experienced (thus the 4 stars) is that the CatEye headlight I purchased interferes with the trip computer wireless signal when the headlight is in the blinking mode. That's too bad because the blinking headlight mode is great. When it's dark, I don't really need to see the computer, but I like it to record every mile I out on. With the headlight in blinking mode, the trip computer behaves as if you've stopped.
Seems to be accurate enough for me and no wires.
November 7, 2014
I'm not really sure if I have this set up properly. I use Ride With GPS to map my rides and always get from half of a mile to 3/4 of a mile variance from the CatEye and that's only over a 13-15 mile ride. That's 4-6% variance. So, it makes me wonder if it's the computer, Ride with GPS, or just user error.(Update: The more I ride the more accurate it seems to be. Lately on 20+ mile rides it corresponds with Ride With GPS to within 2%-3% difference. I think that's pretty good.)

Two of the three I purchased are working great. The third has some issues.
August 8, 2016
I've purchased three of these in the last four monthsCatEye Urban Wireless Bicycle Computer CC-VT220W based on the positive reviews here. Two were purchased at the end of May 2016. One of those two has quit working. Even though I've had it just over two months I went ahead and replaced batteries in computer and sending unit. I also made sure the sending unit was properly aligned with the magnet on the rim. The unit is still not working. I swapped the computer from one bike to the other and was able to isolate the problem to the sending unit on the wheel. Unfortunately this was sold buy Amazon so two months is beyond their return deadline. They referred me to CatEye for service. I received a lukewarm and somewhat skeptical response from them. After 15 minutes on the phone they agreed to send me another sending unit. I hope this solves the problem. The other two are working fine. I will update when I get the new sending unit and I install it.
OK but HORRID software.
June 30, 2016
Works good but I don't think anyone who wrote the code for the software EVER tried it out. It's truly bad. The issues are, the instructions are horrid, the programming is convoluted, if you have to change anything it wipes out EVERYTHING, replace the battery it wipes out EVERYTHING. So if you have to adjust the wheel circumference to make it accurate write it down. I'm debating on returning it as at every battery replacement I will curse it.
Ok.. Buy something better if you can.
June 29, 2016
OK quality for what you pay.. Classically bad Chinese instruction.. The on line quick start instructions are better.. [...]Not happy about the cygolite headlight interfering with this computer functionality.. They should inform buyers of this...I own a Performance 8.0W from the mid 90s that I still use.. Same functions, 1/2 the size and works great. Japanese quality.
Need experience to install it right.
October 25, 2015
The distance between the magnet and sensor needed to be extremely close to each other. I can't make it right for the whole day until watch a related YouTube video. I'm Concerned if the sensor might be too close to break when the bike is running. Already filed the return, but if it works out for the next couple weeks, I might keep it. One of the reason to keep is the little strings to mount are too tight to detach. I can't take it out unless I cut them.
Bit of a hassle to set up, but works okay so far
November 4, 2014
It is somewhat of a hassle to set up as the intructions are poor, but eventually I was able to figure what to push and when to push it on the backside of the device to set it up. Rotating through the various information possibilities is easy...once it is set up. Just push the button. Hopefully the batteries last a long time so I don't have to hassle the device again for a long time. The information appears consistent if not accurate. I have not been able to test the accuracy yet. First I need to find an accurate mile. The timing is reasonably accurate.
a little dissapointed
August 22, 2013
It was tough to get to function. I think I am pretty able to install such a device but there seemed to be a discrepency in the written directions and the time needed to hold down the button to set the time. Without that being done the device would not function. Fortunately my neighbor came over and went over the directions and held the button down longer than I had and longer than directed and got it to work. Since then it seems to work great, otherwise I would have given it a higher rating.

broke after several months
Surprised:
April 21, 2016
DECEPTIVE Description: Technical details give item dimensions as 2" X 3" X 4.25": 25 cubic inches. That would be about the size of a large box of wooden kitchen matches. The actual device is smaller than a book of paper matches: 1 3/8" X 2" X 1/2": 1.375 cubic inches. That is about 5% of the advertised volume. The display is less than 1" X 1 1/4". The digits are 3/8" and fairly readable at arms length but not what you might call "large".I just received it. Haven't mounted it or tried it. The output might turn out to be everything I ever wanted -- or not.
Not as reliable as I'd like
January 4, 2016
Unreliable compared to the wired unit I have since purchased. Failed to correctly log speed and distance on occasion. Followed the instructions to the letter.
headlight interferes with computer reading
November 7, 2015
headlight operation interferes with computer reading. Only works if headlight is in flashing mode. Otherwise when light is on, computer does not pick up signal.
A bit too small
September 18, 2014
I would go with the Bontrager Trip 100 Computer. You can find it at a Trek store. The Bontrager is a very simple to use device, with great features and a large display.
reception
March 11, 2014
On my bike it does not receive the signal close to where I can see it. All the functions work well. Now is I could just see what is going on it would be fine.

it's better to just go with another product and avoid all ...
June 30, 2017
This product is created to fit certain styles/sizes of bikes and no where does it say that. Do they know that? Don't buy this unless you have a large bike, otherwise you will not be able to align the devices in the extremely specific way that is required for them to work. If you aren't sure, it's better to just go with another product and avoid all of the hassle of lost $$ on S & H and taxes.

Waste of money

Product worded for a few minutes then when I tried to change it from KPH to MPH it wouldnt let me and the it kept flashing the same screen and it's not even usable. Waste of money...
I liked the product very much and it worked well
October 31, 2015
I liked the product very much and it worked well, then the odometer portion stopped keeping mile totals, every other feature continued to work,I tried contacting Cat Eye but got no response,so....I liked it very much, but have to dislike it because now I need to replace it.
Nice device-- READ THIS-- worthless instructions.
June 12, 2013
I wrote a review- who knows where it went.I read about the useless instructions before I bought this. Stupid me.Pay Attention, Grasshoppers:1) Take out the battery, put it back, to get to set-up.2) Press the SET button on the bottom(yes, there are 3 buttons on a ONE button device) to confirm your new settings.3) Watch the MODE'S "2 second rule" to get things set smoothly.4) You will learn as you go; if it gets messed up, push the RESET button on the bottom and start all over.5) If you use the bracket, PEEL off the white tape on the little plastic strip.6) It is virtualy inpossible to remove the device from the bracket, so I suggest you throw the bracket in the trash like I did and USE VELCRO. The device will work where ever you stick it on the the stem or handlebar- I tried it and stuck it at an angle on the stem for stability. Mine ended up about 60cm. (2ft.) from the sender.7) NOW it comes off easily and attaches firmly. Works great. (P.S. Now I'll know my carbon footprint, too.)
