Nice options

This was pretty easy to install and the varied settings are helpful. I think there is some wiggle room for where you put the sensor on the wheel as to how accurately it measure speed and distance. I use this in addition to my iPhone and cadence sensor to monitor speed and distance; it seems to track a bit faster and further than the GPS in the phone. I tend to have this display speed and the time so the phone can do the HR, cadence, and overall distance. It's much easier to watch the time on this than the phone.
Exactly what I needed.
February 21, 2017
Exactly what I needed. This cyclocomputer does everything I want: current speed, average speed, max speed, time of day, time on your current ride, and an odometer. I especially wanted one that was wired because then I will be sure it's connected. When I first installed it, I put it on the front wheel. But then I got a stationary bike trainer and oops -- the front wheel doesn't move. So, I had to make a few modifications to put the sensor on the back wheel instead. The wire was not long enough to keep the display on the handlebars, so I moved it to just underneath. I can still read it because the numbers are nice and big. Also, the rear fork is farther away from the spokes on the back wheel compared to the front wheel, so I cut up a chopstick and made a spacer. I just taped it on; I will probably need more tape if I ride in the rain. After those two simple modifications, now I can use it with my trainer just as easily.
New, But So Far Faultless
May 5, 2014
First, I chose a wired model over wireless because I read a lot of reviews where people had trouble with wireless units around power-lines and electrical equipment (the computer resetting, turning off, etc.). On my TREK Shift 4, the Velo mount fits perfectly on the stem, just behind/below the handlebars. It mounts easily and securely with small nylon ties (and a sticky pad on the inside of the mounting block keeps it from slipping--although, be sure to hold the mount in place as you remove the computer). The wire between the pickup and the computer was, for me, the perfect length--I used thin wire-ties to secure the wire and hide it. There are some really helpful computer setup videos on YouTube (look for the guy--BikemanforU, with the colorful charts--he only has videos for Velo-5 and 8, but 8 works for everything on the 7, but the clock (or, maybe I just didn't understand that part). Even though I was only able to find one Velo-7 video--and it was in an Asian language--having already gotten the feel for things from BikemanforU, I was able to watch the Asian person's finger movements and figure out the clock--not too difficult, and it's great that I have all of the Velo functions operating). After recording the details of a ride in my journal, it is very easy to reset the computer functions for my next ride. BTW, BikemanforU (the colorful-chart guy), has a good video on measuring the circumference of your tire and converting it to centimeters. His Velo 8 video shows you how to use a centimeter measurement rather than just choosing, say, the 26" tire option (mine are 26", but I choose to measure the tire circumference and enter it in centimeters to get the most accurate speed and distance readings. (Pay attention to the last part of his video on measuring the tire; it tells you how to do it by marking the ground under the valve stem, rolling the tire one revolution and marking it again, then measuring the distance between marks and converting it to centimeters. It was easiest way he showed to get the measurement (I used a black marker on my concrete driveway). If you cut and paste the links below, I hope they take you where they should. (LATER: Sorry, but it looks like the three links would not transfer to the review page.)[...])[...])[...])
Too easy to use
March 11, 2013
If all you need are the basics and something that takes about 10 minutes to install then buy this right now. The setup was easy and the one button feature is a blessing. I've been riding for decades and am so over the mega-multi function monster that takes an I.T. wiz kid to program. This one had me at hello.....
simple
March 4, 2013
I think this is my 5th CatEye bike computer (I can't stop buying bikes) and by far the least expensive and most simple. Previous models have been wireless but after spending a lot of time trouble shooting a model with a second wireless sensor with cadence I was burnt out on it and wanted a simple hard wired unit that records basic data (time duration, average speed, trip odometer and odometer that doesn't reset with other data). The only other thing I really wanted in the computer was that it would auto pause when not moving so I didn't have to remember to turn it on or off when stopping for a break or stoplight. This computer does all of that with a large display and low price tag.
Best Bicycle Speed and Trip Computer
February 5, 2013
This product is easy to mount and set up when following directions. The numbers are large and easy to read while riding your bike. It has all the functions a novice or semi serious rider would need. When we go for a ride we get our riding time, distance, average speed, maximum speed, real time speedometer, has a clock, and maintains an odometer for bike miles. Except for the clock and odometer you may reset everything else for a new ride. This device is easy to use and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys riding a bicycle. It is priced very reasonable. Have had this product for three months with no problems. A must have and a great product.

Great product and I would buy it again
August 6, 2017
I bought the cateye to replace one I had lost (found it later) It works great and as long as you have the tire size correctly in the unit it is super accurate for distances, speed and average speed. The sensor that transmits the wheel revolutions is simple to install ob the front fork of your bicycle and the wireless feature simplifies this greatly. This is my go to bike computer.
Great like the two Cateye Micros I already own.
May 12, 2016
Bought a new bike and needed a computer to track my speed and mileage. other bikes have the old Cateye Micro that have served me well over the years. So thought I'ld try this. I didn't want anything big, didn't want GPS (I have my phone if I need it). Just something simple. And this fit the bill. Easy to install, took about 1/2 an hour. Works very well, never had trouble with wireless not working. The zip ties are a little lame and you need to think through how to install them. would be nice if they provided a few extra. but I'm sure you could find at bike shop or elsewhere if you needed to. I expect many years of use out of this product.
Cateye CC-MC100W Micro Wireless 10-Function Bicycle Computer
March 19, 2015
After ordering #1 for me was to download the setup instructionsthe online directions are easy to read and follow zoom it to read without my glassesI have used several bike speedos in the past once I tried a Cateye they had my business always reliable and last a long time this one is for my Recumbent trike see pics of it installed.the wire ties are yellow as I did not pay attention to the 70-centimeter transmission distance go over and it will not work.I installed it in a few minutes then reinstalled it because I had the sender and display too far apart.I set it up and it is working great .so just follow the instructions its easy.
Grat product, reliable, sturdy, accurate, and very attractive.
November 20, 2013
I have bought several and would buy more as needed. Extremely reliable, waterproof, sturdy. I mountain bike and theses have worked perfectly. I lose them when I take them off of my bike and put them somewhere (tailgate of truck) and forget. I like the accuracy and the ability to use of two different bikes. The Cateye keeps me honest when I have done that epic ride for five hours and I know I rode twenty miles, cateye tells me I really only rode eight, so I keep my bragging down until I feel like I rode eight and rode 20.
Cateye Wireless
April 27, 2011
This is the second Cateye micro wirelss I've purchased and it has performed just as well as the first one that I've had for 5 years and it's still working. The new one was purchased for a second bike. It's very compact but easy to read and it just works day after day year after year. The batteries are the inexpensive cr2032 that you can find almost anywhere. The display battery last about a year and I have yet to replace the transmitter battery on my old one after 5 years. The display info is nothing fancy but the usual speed, trip, odometer, avg. speed, max speed, etc. I don't give 5 stars to many products but this one just earns it.
Works great - wife loves it!
June 5, 2008
The wife and I love to bike ride just about everywhere. We ride for both fun and exercise. My wife has wanted a bike computer for a long time. I did some research and found the reviews of this unit favorable. The unit seems small, but the display is easily readable and the backlighg works well. The 2 main things that she wanted were a trip odometer as well as a stopwatch feature to help determine how long we have been riding. The installation was easy, and I am not mechanically inclined. The only slight hiccup is navigating the menus for the initial setup. Other than that everything else was easy to get working. I recommend keeping the instruction sheet as you will need it to accurately setup the wheel size if you ever change bikes and it does not have the same wheel size.

reliable option
March 15, 2017
This was a gift for my bicycle-loving, math-nerd son. We had gotten him a wireless bike computer, but it ate through two batteries within a month and then died on us, so I figured a wired version would be a good replacement option. The wire is plenty long; we actually had to zip-tie a large loop against his fork to keep it from being a hazard. While my son was disappointed that he couldn't toggle between mph/kph on this one like he could on his last device (and if I recall correctly, it doesn't keep quite as many stats), he's been happy with its performance and, though we put a new battery in when it arrived, we've not yet had to replace it and we're just days shy of having put in a year of use.
Solid product, build quality could be better
December 17, 2016
I did not think I would like this as much as I did. It has a big screen, which as a young male I thought who cares? But this makes a difference! At a glance lets me keep my eyes on the road. I use this on my touring bike and its simplicity is perfect for the job. There is only one button to cycle through the modes and I typically leave it on trip distance. There's nothing too fancy about this. It is also the first wired bike computer I have bought and I am pretty happy with it! I love the way only one battery is required because I am sick of having to replace two on the wireless units each time one of them dies. However, I will still be using wireless units for road biking, but I would buy this unit for any other type of riding I do.I took off one star because of the build quality. I was disappointed especially with the wire that connects the monitor to the sensor. It is a little cheap and I feel like CatEye could have made a better effort to make where the wire connects to the two components little sturdier. I have not expereinced any issues yet with this, but that was definitely a little disappointing.Overall, I am happy with this purchase especially for this price. You probably get just a little more than you payed for with this, which is all I ask. Thank you.
Adequate for the Price.
October 27, 2016
It's worth the price, but not more. The setup is more difficult than it should be, and the instructions are really lame and hard to follow. Custom wheel size can only be set to 3 digits; "215" CM instead of "2155" for my 700c x 32 tires, for example. Close enough, but how hard would it have been for them to allow 4-digit calibration?HINT: If you get stuck in setup with it toggling between "kmh" and "mph" for a hour or two or even more, as I did - you aren't pressing the little buttons on the back in deep enough. Your finger won't work, and neither will the end of a nylon wire tie. Break off a wooden toothpick and use the blunt end. That works. My one big complaint with this thing is that it only display two items on the display. I'd like to have speed, distance and elapsed time all on the display at one time. As it is, I use speed and distance, and then have to press the front button 5 times to cycle through stuff I don't need to see my elapsed time.
Exactly what I expected. But now I wish it had just a couple of extra features.
February 13, 2015
I read a lot of reviews on bike computers before purchasing, and ultimately this Velo 7 is what I need. I have separately a GPS watch with a heart rate monitor which I could wear if I wanted, so I did not need the extra functions on the computer itself. The only thing which made me consider others brands and models was the lack of cadence function. A good friend of mine who rides with me often checks the cadence all the time and adjusts his workout. The Velo 7 does not track cadence, which is fine by me. That said, I use this on a regular mountain bike, not on a spinning bike.Installation took about 10 minutes. Menu setup took another 5 minutes. The instructions are good. Pictures and flow-charts are included, which helps a lot. You can't beat the price of this product either.I would give it 5+ stars if it had a backlit screen. Right now the screen is a little dim. I do ride my bike after dark sometimes, not often but it happens, and a brighter screen would have been nicer.I am also not a big fan of the zip-tie installation. I would have liked it better if they made an actual mounting bracket for the base, rather than using zip-ties to attach the base.
I like it a lot. !
September 4, 2014
works pretty well... the instructions leave a BIT to be desired (all pictures, not much useful text) but mounting is pretty logical and programming is annoying, but only at first. Counting the 2 on the back (SET and RESET) and the dual button on the front its really a 4 button unit... but again... a little trial and error and it sets up pretty quickly. Once set you only need the dual button on the front. A back light button would be nice (if it had one).Since it involves running wire on a bike You may want to have some extra tie wraps handy to account for the trial and error of a first time mounting. (I bought 2 of these and the second one went in super fast/easy.) Thanks to the person saying extrema heat in a super hot car can cook one of these. Really that is just common sense but, Good to know.Assuming it holds up I would call this a 5 star unit. Very solid operation!!!My guess is its pretty dam accurate with just factory settings. Odds are I will end up with one of these on all my bikes.AND BTW, TO SET THAT CLOCK... after you select 12 or 24 hours (and before you push SET on the back of the unit) push and hold the front buttons and the hours will blink,, adjust as needed then push hold front buttons again to set min... then push rear SET button and your done. (took me forever to figure that out)
Works well
August 15, 2013
I wanted one installation that measured my speed whether on the road or on the trainer. This means I needed to mount the sensor on the rear wheel. Wireless bike computers don't have the range to allow that, so I got this wired unit. The wire is not long enough to reach from the rear wheel to the handlebar, so I mounted the display unit on the crossbar. The wire is long enough that the computer display is pretty close to the handlebar, clearing the leg motion and not interfering with mounting/dismounting the bike and also is easy to see with a downward glance; it is essentially in the same field of view as a handlebar mount.I also had to make a spacer to attach the sensor inboard close enough to the rear wheel that it senses the magnetic field from the magnet on the spoke. A piece of old nylon cutting board for the spacer, a file to shape it so the zip ties held it securely, and some hot glue to keep it from shifting were enough. The computer itself is easy to use and easy to mount. Unless you want a lot more features, this seems to work well. It really is nice having one button to to change modes and reset for a trip.I have not tried it in wet or cold weather yet, so I won't give it 5 stars until I see that it remains functional in bad weather.

it seems to be working just fine.
May 16, 2017
This was the second one I ordered because the first one had be used. The packing was opened and the unit had already been programmed, yet it was claimed to be "New." This one came unopened, yay! Had a few problems tracking my rides, but after some tweeking, it seems to be working just fine.
easy to mount
March 29, 2016
Fully functional, accurate, easy to mount. A good value. Plastic ties are a one shot only with no spares included. Tighten them right the first time or your screwed.
Generally a good product.
August 8, 2015
Great computer and easy to install. One draw back is that its too easy to reset your ride to zero if you accidentally touch both buttons at once. Unlike earlier versions where you needed to depress and hold both buttons for a couple of seconds, this is instantaneous. Cateye should put back the reset delay to avoid accidental resets.
Done a good job for over a year
February 15, 2012
I have used the Cateye Micro computer for just over a year and more than 3000 miles of commuting over rough potholed roads and with one or two exceptions it has proven to be reliable, accurate and easy to use.The major exception was that after about 3200 miles the transmitter unit dropped off the front fork while biking on a fairly smooth stretch of road - the units cable ties were still holding the mounting bracket in place on the fork but the screw that allows adjustment and holds the actual sender unit in place had somehow loosened , backed itself out, and allowed the sender to drop off. I didn't notice there was no speed reading for a few minutes - and although I retraced my route twice the unit could not be found - I was able to purchase a second sender unit from a third party and was back in action shortly after - I now give the screw a little tightening twist every month or so.The battery in the computer unit faded out after about 14 months use - as the literature says it will - but was an easy replacement.I don't have any stoplights or wireless hives of activity where I commute so haven't experienced any of the distorted or missing data that some have.I agree with the sentiments that the instructions need a total make over as they are frustratingly difficult to interpret.I had one instance of erratic speed /distance readings which turned out to be a slightly misaligned wheel magnet - adjusted, tightened ,and no more problems. If I could make a change - I'd like to be able to see both time and distance info at the same time rather than have to push a button to scroll through the options - but of course it is a "Micro" computer so that's maybe asking too much. The back light is basically useless - so if reading your info in the dark is important this is not for you.On the whole a good quality product for the money.
Great computer but back light is worthless
January 26, 2012
I have had this unit on my MTB for almost a year and it works well except for the fact that the backlight is virtually worthless.... it provides a small amount of green light at the lower right corner of the display which illuminates the screen very non-uniformly and is thus virtually worthless. The size of the unit and functionality is great but just don't buy it if you absolutely positively HAVE to be able to see your display in the dark.
Great device/substandard instructions
October 17, 2010
This is a great device in terms of functionality and due to the zip-tie mounting option it fits thicker handlebars and forks (my bike is a Cannondale Synapse with a carbon fork). I agree with some of the other reviewers that whoever authored the instructions should get fired. They are in diagram form only and it took me forever to figure out in which sequence I was supposed to push buttons to get through the set-up. I am pretty computer/tech savvy but this was certainly a new level of a challenge. Once done, this unit has been great. I deducted one star because of the manual only, not because of functionality.

They still make these hard wired?
October 29, 2017
Just received it and I guess I didn't read the specs very well before ordering. I didn't know they still made bike speedometers witha wire connecting the sensor and the computer. Been a decade since I had to run a wire up my fork to the computer. Quaint.Instructions for programing are cryptic pictures. Web site for detailed instructions will not open. I used the quick tire sizing set up and could tell it was incorrect because I rode a distance that I know is 9 miles and got a trip of 12 miles.Nice clear screen now I just need to decipher the instructions,Jim Benefiel
I also don't like the selection of tire sizes (mine wasn't included)
September 5, 2017
I wish they would include a longer connection--one that reached my rear wheel so I could use it on my rollers. I also don't like the selection of tire sizes (mine wasn't included). I much prefer computers that allow one to input a direct measurement.
NOT FOR FATBIKES
August 30, 2017
looks like a good item with good reviews. does NOT fit a fat tired bike. I'm trying a modification but unsure it will work.
Five stars if the wire between the pick-up sensor and the dislplay were longer.
September 23, 2016
I like the large display and like using this. I would likely purchase this again if something happened to the one I have. I gave it three stars because the wire between the sensor and the display IS WAY TOO SHORT!!!!! I hope the manufacturer reads this. The only way I could install this on my bike was to CUT the wire in half and splice a longer wire into it. Completely ridiculous. It's also impossible to program without the instruction sheet.
Suprised
March 19, 2015
I have a 26" conventional style bike, the electrical wire is very short which makes it difficult to link the sending unit and computer. Directions recommends how to route the wire and if you attempt to do it in that manner its too short. I found the directions in setting the unit somewhat difficult, finally did so by trial and error after many attempts. Installing sensor and magnet which attach to spokes, required modification to the unit to bring it close enough them close enough. Cateye has good reviews and I am quite surprised they didn't do a better job designing this unit. It may fit the touring bike much better, do to the fact the tire to handle bars are closer together and the fork tend to be narrower which allows the sending unit to be installed closer to the spokes. I have mounted numerous speed computers and this was the most difficult. Cateye needs to extend the wire another 6 inches and design the pickup/sending unit mount with more adjust ability in mounting.
Slightly disappointed
September 30, 2014
The function of the computer is as advertised, but I had a REALLY hard time finding a place to mount the sensor where it passes within 5mm of the spoke chip. I have a mountain bike with a few modifications on it so I can use it as a (slow) road bike/touring bike and I really had to scout to get the placement right. I actually ended up putting a piece of dense foam under the sensor to lift it off the frame a little. Also, if you want to mount this on your REAR tire because you are going to use a bike trainer, the cord is barely long enough. I am 5'2" tall, so you can imagine that my frame isn't all that big, I think it is 15" if I remember correctly. If you tried to do it on a larger frame, the screen of the computer would be where your bottle cage is. As it is, my screen is about 4" from my handlebars on the top tube. I'm a little disappointed. I was happy that they included extra zip ties. I needed to get some more after all of the mounting and re-mounting, but having more than the minimum is helpful.

Quick delivery. Installation was a bit harder. I use my bike on a stationary stand about 50 % of time, so I needed to install spoke magnet on back wheel. It took a little adjusting, had to mount computer on center rail for the wireless to make connection. Wouldn't receive wireless signal if I mounted computer at base of handle bars. Hey it works
Buttons are Awkward as some other Reviewers Point Out
April 7, 2015
This item works but I am not happy with the black button you press to switch between readings. It is also awkward to reset and takes some fiddling for me to do it each time. You have to press two buttons simultaneously. I had the fewer function Cateye Vectra and it was much easier to switch between readings and to reset it. If you try to reset it when on the timer display it reverts to the second trip distance function. I have no need for two trip distances but they include it on this model which is more annoying than helpful.
Mounting system is not good but the computer is great!
May 15, 2009
The computer is great, it has a lot of functions and features and the wireless works very well. The only thing I was dissapointed was the mounting system, it is with nylon ties while the Strada Wireless has the "FlexiTight" Bracket Mount which has a faster installation. Besides if I need to switch it to another bike is faster and I don't need to have spare nylon ties with me.

ODO doesn't work.
July 25, 2016
This computer attaches easily and securely. It works except for the odometer, which is stuck at 8 miles. (It's the only setting that doesn't reset when you hold down the button.) Now I need to find how to return it for a replacement. Hopefully, I can get them to let me keep the parts I've already installed and just replace the unit. I'll update this review once I find out what happens.

November 30, 2015
I've had this for a little over a month now and am disappointed. I wanted something for my bike that would work on my trainer stand in the winter. The first issue is that the cord is not long enough to reach the back wheel. So I put the meter on the crossbar under me. Even so the thing has only worked sporadically since installation. The pickup magnet is not working despite installing to their specs. I've sent a note to CatEye support, we'll see how that works.
Great until it stops working

For 3 months I loved this thing. After that, the display just switched to a clock only, and none of the other functions work. It's still a nice little clock but I miss seeing my current and average speed, etc.
A few disappointments
June 2, 2015
I have a Cateye Mity 8 on my bike that I have enjoyed for years, and I bought this for my wife's. However I am disappointed in this unit. The first problem I had was that the cord is too short on it. I was able to mount it to her Jamis Citizen Hybrid bike, but I was unable to really secure the wire like I wanted. It seems that the wire is just long enough to be used in the middle of the handle bars or stem. For other reasons I put her out on the ends of the bars just inside the grips, but I was unable to wrap the wire around the brake cables. Instead I zip tied it to some key points on the bars and the forks, but there is a section that runs along the head tube that just hangs out there with no other support. If it gets snagged, it is a goner. My next disappointment in it was the lack of being able to preset the odometer like the Mity 8 allows. This is a pain because I already know how many miles are on the bike and wanted it to start with that number. Cateye computers also reset the odometer when changing the battery, so this feature was to manually input the mileage again. My biggest disappointment in it though is in the Odometer display itself. It doesn't display tenths of a mile (my Mity 8 does). All the other modes will display tenths, but not the odometer. The mount for the unit itself doesn't have a press down latch to release the unit. It uses a friction system that takes a little bit of force to pop it off, but I can see that wearing out after some time.
Works as described
June 10, 2014
Great little computer that works as describes. Pretty simple to mount, just follow the instructions and you can accumulate data ASAP. Also, consider using it with mapmyride to get route data.EDIT 7/6/2015I've had this for one year now and it pretty much has fallen apart, doesn't pick up the sensor all the time, and doesn't provide accurate speeds when paired with a Garmin. It worked well for one season, but barely works now.

August 8, 2017
Was able to install it pretty easily but the sensor is attached to the bike with a special mount that you screw the sensor into. Second ride out and the screw fell out and sensor detached. Thankfully was able to find the sensor but not the screw. Doesn't really matter since it won't stay on now. Cateye sells the replacement sensor and mount but not going to pay to replace the whole sensor unit just for a couple cent screw.
I would say its a good entry level device
June 20, 2017
I have had the device for a year. Right now I am showing 350 miles. It does log distance and MPH. I would say its a good entry level device. The LED screen just started to act up and there is a dark spot which is why I am doing the review. I would say spend the extra money for a better product.
Not a good product for the money.
July 13, 2015
I owned a much older CatEye Micro computer (purchased in the early 1990s) and it never failed me. In fact, I only replaced the battery one time during 20 years. I don't know what's up with this one, but already after only a couple dozen miles, it is dropping the signal from the transmitter. And it did this on a longer ride where I needed to keep track of speed and time to keep my pace. If I were averaging between 14 and 16 miles per hour, I was looking down to see it jumping to either 5 or 8 miles per hour, sticking there for 10-20 seconds, and then jumping back to correct speed. The sensor is dead on accurate, and the gap between sensor and magnet is well within the 5mm spacing required (more like between 2mm - 3mm). This trail, by the way, was the smoothest I've ridden in the area, and earlier, the computer held its speed on far more bumpy roads and trails, so jostling around is not the problem either. I am going to try new batteries in both (never know how stale the batteries are) but, if that does not cure it, I'm sending it back.Furthermore, a few more complaints. First, attaching the computer with cheap cable ties is rather janky, but attaching the sensor is a recipe for failure. Despite having the ties as snug as I can, the sensor can still be nudged around if I push on it. Not good, and in my opinion looks cheap. Also, why such a useless short range on the sensor? It should allow me to mount it to the rear wheel, not the front, where it is more out of harm's way. An extra 25cm of range would have resulted in a perfect mounting point. Yes I could go with a wired computer, but the point of the wireless is not to have a lot of problem-prone cables held on with more cable ties (which looks even more tacky). Finally, don't buy this for the backlight--the single weak LED in the lower right corner does not even make this visible in the dark.Pass on this one. There are better computers out there.
Great Unit, but has a FATAL FLAW, as noted by others.
May 28, 2015
This unit has all the right stuff so that I'm disappointed that I cannot "love" it. As with other reviewers, the singular, and fatal, flaw that keeps me from recommending it to anyone is its sensitivity to electromagnetic interference (EMI). I haven't seen the crazy high numbers that others have, but I regularly see "0 MPH" for current speed. Much worse in town than in the country, but it still happens in the country. I have not been able to isolate causes, which seem to range from car ignition noise, to alarm systems, to ???As a result, the trip mileage is thrown off, sometimes a lot, and it makes difficult to track on ride route sheets. It also means that one's accumulated mileage cannot be accurate.Addendum: additionally, the screen cover appears to be polarized on a portion of it. As a result, it is difficult to read with polarized sunglasses.Having read of others' experiences, I don't think the wireless units are reliably ready for prime time. I'm going back to a wired unit, since all I need are the basic functions of trip distance, current speed, total distance and trip average speed.
Not as good as the older Cateyes.
April 2, 2015
I returned it for a refund. I've had Cateyes in the past that competed well for accuracy with my pro level Garmin GPS but this one doesn't. I have an older wireless Cateye installed on my wife's mountain bike and it works fine. Both of our bikes are the same make and model. I have a cable Cateye on my bike that works well.
OK Computer, Crappy Screen
February 12, 2012
The unit works well after 500 miles. I didn't find the instructions as troublesome as some reviews indicated. My difficulty is the screen. It seems to be a bit polarized and is difficult to read from even a slight angle. Had I not had it on the bike and accurized when I figured this out, I would have returned it. I reinstalled the wire ties and changed the angle which improves the view but does not completely correct the difficulty.

Device wouldn't set.

I'm sorry to say my computer didn't work. It had battery power to it, but when I was trying to do the settings, the SET button didn't seem to be working. I had selected miles per hour instead of kilometers and when I pushed the SET button, there was no response. This review is not intended to be any reflection on Amazon or the way they handle things. I am very satisfied with them.
Not able to make it work.

Prompt delivery. Easy install, reasonable programming, but could not get it to sense the rotating front wheel. Unfortunately, have to return.

bad computer - never turned on even after changing the battery ... then I put on another computer that I already owned and things worked for a couple of rides - then it suddenly wouldn't register when I was moving - ie. good computer but bad wiring ... overall total trash

Terrible product. The set button was difficult to press and I had a hard time setting up the computer because of that. I ended up pushing the button too deep and the product is no longer working as a result. I was told the computer was not eligible for return/replacement. I had only had it for 40 days when it broke.

Did not work right out of the box. Called customer service and while helpful with suggestions, could not get it to work. It is being returned to them.

I cannot imagine a product more difficult to set up than this. The directions are written in several languages in a very small font. I could not tell from the graphic directions that a "hidden" button existed. I spent two hours on this (I have owned approximately 10 bike computers in the past). The display is very small and difficult to see anything other than the current speed. Today, I went out and bought a different brand (Specialized) that is very intuitive to set up, easy to see and a joy to use. I'll give this one away to someone happy to get a "freebie".

I bought this bike computer as a christmas gift for my girlfriend but it turned out that her parents had also bought her one and she had opened that one first. I wrote to the retailer, USBIKEBARGAINS, through Amazon and asked if I could return it. I said I would be happy for store credit and would just buy some other bike equipment. However, the company never even replied. They didn't acknoledge my email and they can't be found on-line. I wouldn't suggest buying this, not because of the product but because the retailer is either really badly run or not really a company.
Nothing Good to Say

Right now this product is sitting in an open box on my desk. When I installed it on my Mongoose it turned out that the sensor and the magnet were too far apart to get a reading. Nothing stated that it would not work with a Mongoose bike. The only way I could find this out was to open it and install it. When I tried to return it to the retailer, Niagra Cycle Works, they refused return because it was opened. I would appreciate it if any one can tell me how I would know it didn't work unless I opened it, I would love to hear it. I have contested the charge on my credit card and will see what happens. I will probably lose but at least others will see this and hopefully cost Niagra Cycle Works more then the stinking $40 it cost me.
