Nice options

This was pretty easy to install and the varied settings are helpful. I think there is some wiggle room for where you put the sensor on the wheel as to how accurately it measure speed and distance. I use this in addition to my iPhone and cadence sensor to monitor speed and distance; it seems to track a bit faster and further than the GPS in the phone. I tend to have this display speed and the time so the phone can do the HR, cadence, and overall distance. It's much easier to watch the time on this than the phone.
Exactly what I needed.
February 21, 2017
Exactly what I needed. This cyclocomputer does everything I want: current speed, average speed, max speed, time of day, time on your current ride, and an odometer. I especially wanted one that was wired because then I will be sure it's connected. When I first installed it, I put it on the front wheel. But then I got a stationary bike trainer and oops -- the front wheel doesn't move. So, I had to make a few modifications to put the sensor on the back wheel instead. The wire was not long enough to keep the display on the handlebars, so I moved it to just underneath. I can still read it because the numbers are nice and big. Also, the rear fork is farther away from the spokes on the back wheel compared to the front wheel, so I cut up a chopstick and made a spacer. I just taped it on; I will probably need more tape if I ride in the rain. After those two simple modifications, now I can use it with my trainer just as easily.
New, But So Far Faultless
May 5, 2014
First, I chose a wired model over wireless because I read a lot of reviews where people had trouble with wireless units around power-lines and electrical equipment (the computer resetting, turning off, etc.). On my TREK Shift 4, the Velo mount fits perfectly on the stem, just behind/below the handlebars. It mounts easily and securely with small nylon ties (and a sticky pad on the inside of the mounting block keeps it from slipping--although, be sure to hold the mount in place as you remove the computer). The wire between the pickup and the computer was, for me, the perfect length--I used thin wire-ties to secure the wire and hide it. There are some really helpful computer setup videos on YouTube (look for the guy--BikemanforU, with the colorful charts--he only has videos for Velo-5 and 8, but 8 works for everything on the 7, but the clock (or, maybe I just didn't understand that part). Even though I was only able to find one Velo-7 video--and it was in an Asian language--having already gotten the feel for things from BikemanforU, I was able to watch the Asian person's finger movements and figure out the clock--not too difficult, and it's great that I have all of the Velo functions operating). After recording the details of a ride in my journal, it is very easy to reset the computer functions for my next ride. BTW, BikemanforU (the colorful-chart guy), has a good video on measuring the circumference of your tire and converting it to centimeters. His Velo 8 video shows you how to use a centimeter measurement rather than just choosing, say, the 26" tire option (mine are 26", but I choose to measure the tire circumference and enter it in centimeters to get the most accurate speed and distance readings. (Pay attention to the last part of his video on measuring the tire; it tells you how to do it by marking the ground under the valve stem, rolling the tire one revolution and marking it again, then measuring the distance between marks and converting it to centimeters. It was easiest way he showed to get the measurement (I used a black marker on my concrete driveway). If you cut and paste the links below, I hope they take you where they should. (LATER: Sorry, but it looks like the three links would not transfer to the review page.)[...])[...])[...])
Too easy to use
March 11, 2013
If all you need are the basics and something that takes about 10 minutes to install then buy this right now. The setup was easy and the one button feature is a blessing. I've been riding for decades and am so over the mega-multi function monster that takes an I.T. wiz kid to program. This one had me at hello.....
simple
March 4, 2013
I think this is my 5th CatEye bike computer (I can't stop buying bikes) and by far the least expensive and most simple. Previous models have been wireless but after spending a lot of time trouble shooting a model with a second wireless sensor with cadence I was burnt out on it and wanted a simple hard wired unit that records basic data (time duration, average speed, trip odometer and odometer that doesn't reset with other data). The only other thing I really wanted in the computer was that it would auto pause when not moving so I didn't have to remember to turn it on or off when stopping for a break or stoplight. This computer does all of that with a large display and low price tag.
Best Bicycle Speed and Trip Computer
February 5, 2013
This product is easy to mount and set up when following directions. The numbers are large and easy to read while riding your bike. It has all the functions a novice or semi serious rider would need. When we go for a ride we get our riding time, distance, average speed, maximum speed, real time speedometer, has a clock, and maintains an odometer for bike miles. Except for the clock and odometer you may reset everything else for a new ride. This device is easy to use and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys riding a bicycle. It is priced very reasonable. Have had this product for three months with no problems. A must have and a great product.

September 22, 2017
I have two--one on my road bike with a t-bar and a folding bike. It's a small mirror meant to show you if there's a vehicle behind you. It's not to be so sharp or large you can read license plates or see someone's eye color. Just take a tool with you on the first ride out and micro-adjust to the perfect position. I wish there was a quick release version so I can take it off the folding bike when needed. Currently, I can fold the bike with the mirror attached--but very carefully. For a smaller footprint, I only use the vertical arm.
Almost Perfect Design
September 4, 2017
They are working perfectly as designed. At first installing them and tightening them felt a little disconcerting because it's very difficult to tighten them down. Then I realized why. This design cleverly uses friction to keep the mirror locked in place once you adjust it. You just have to make sure you don't over tighten them to the point of breaking the plastic or stripping the threads. Just keep feeling how easy it is to move and adjust them as you slowly tighten more and more and they will be perfectly adjusted. The slightly parabolic view helps get a wide angle view of traffic. Since I drive on the right side of the road, I felt a left mounted mirror was enough. Please be aware they do make the bike handles wider so you have to be more careful negotiating in narrow areas or you will bump them and have to readjust. Not a big deal though.
Well designed and a good product.
August 10, 2017
I have three of these for my electric bikes. Well designed and provides a good view of the area behind me. Takes a few minutes to assemble. Fits tightly into the end of the bike handle... You must take out the plug that most bikes have. Tight ..but loose enough to allow adjustment. Not sure how it would hold up to impact such as if the bike hit the ground. Not expensive and I would get same as replacement if this happened.
Two nice mirrors for under $30 ! Good deal.
August 8, 2017
This is a good standard mirror. 2 for under $30 is even better. I put one on my bike and my son's. Make the screws and washer fittings tight but not over tighten and it stays in place well while making it easy to adjust. For that be sure to put it together the way the instructions indicate - don't leave out any washers etc. Takes a little time to assemble the first one, but well worth it...Comes with 2 different ends to stick in your handle bar, Probably fits everyone's' except solid bars.Best of all the image of behind you is very clear and has a good visibility range.
Excellent
July 5, 2017
Durable and reliable. Can make multiple adjustments day after day (e.g. folding the bike mirror in and out to get it in and out of my bike in and out of my front door easier) and it does not get loose. The mirror uses multiple washers and very stiff threaded bolts (it feels like you are stripping the threads, but as the instructions state this is the way it is designed) which helps prevent the bolts from becoming loose.
This has got to be the best 15ish dollars I've put into my bike so far
March 9, 2017
This has got to be the best 15ish dollars I've put into my bike so far. For anyone wondering I use the Radmini electric bike from RAD POWER BIKES, and this fits, I would imagine this fits most bikes because it comes with two different adapters.Make sure you do not drop with the mirror sticking out this mirror is made of glass not plastic, it will shatter. If it does happen I noticed amazon sells replacements for 7 bucks which isn't horrible.

reliable option
March 15, 2017
This was a gift for my bicycle-loving, math-nerd son. We had gotten him a wireless bike computer, but it ate through two batteries within a month and then died on us, so I figured a wired version would be a good replacement option. The wire is plenty long; we actually had to zip-tie a large loop against his fork to keep it from being a hazard. While my son was disappointed that he couldn't toggle between mph/kph on this one like he could on his last device (and if I recall correctly, it doesn't keep quite as many stats), he's been happy with its performance and, though we put a new battery in when it arrived, we've not yet had to replace it and we're just days shy of having put in a year of use.
Solid product, build quality could be better
December 17, 2016
I did not think I would like this as much as I did. It has a big screen, which as a young male I thought who cares? But this makes a difference! At a glance lets me keep my eyes on the road. I use this on my touring bike and its simplicity is perfect for the job. There is only one button to cycle through the modes and I typically leave it on trip distance. There's nothing too fancy about this. It is also the first wired bike computer I have bought and I am pretty happy with it! I love the way only one battery is required because I am sick of having to replace two on the wireless units each time one of them dies. However, I will still be using wireless units for road biking, but I would buy this unit for any other type of riding I do.I took off one star because of the build quality. I was disappointed especially with the wire that connects the monitor to the sensor. It is a little cheap and I feel like CatEye could have made a better effort to make where the wire connects to the two components little sturdier. I have not expereinced any issues yet with this, but that was definitely a little disappointing.Overall, I am happy with this purchase especially for this price. You probably get just a little more than you payed for with this, which is all I ask. Thank you.
Adequate for the Price.
October 27, 2016
It's worth the price, but not more. The setup is more difficult than it should be, and the instructions are really lame and hard to follow. Custom wheel size can only be set to 3 digits; "215" CM instead of "2155" for my 700c x 32 tires, for example. Close enough, but how hard would it have been for them to allow 4-digit calibration?HINT: If you get stuck in setup with it toggling between "kmh" and "mph" for a hour or two or even more, as I did - you aren't pressing the little buttons on the back in deep enough. Your finger won't work, and neither will the end of a nylon wire tie. Break off a wooden toothpick and use the blunt end. That works. My one big complaint with this thing is that it only display two items on the display. I'd like to have speed, distance and elapsed time all on the display at one time. As it is, I use speed and distance, and then have to press the front button 5 times to cycle through stuff I don't need to see my elapsed time.
Exactly what I expected. But now I wish it had just a couple of extra features.
February 13, 2015
I read a lot of reviews on bike computers before purchasing, and ultimately this Velo 7 is what I need. I have separately a GPS watch with a heart rate monitor which I could wear if I wanted, so I did not need the extra functions on the computer itself. The only thing which made me consider others brands and models was the lack of cadence function. A good friend of mine who rides with me often checks the cadence all the time and adjusts his workout. The Velo 7 does not track cadence, which is fine by me. That said, I use this on a regular mountain bike, not on a spinning bike.Installation took about 10 minutes. Menu setup took another 5 minutes. The instructions are good. Pictures and flow-charts are included, which helps a lot. You can't beat the price of this product either.I would give it 5+ stars if it had a backlit screen. Right now the screen is a little dim. I do ride my bike after dark sometimes, not often but it happens, and a brighter screen would have been nicer.I am also not a big fan of the zip-tie installation. I would have liked it better if they made an actual mounting bracket for the base, rather than using zip-ties to attach the base.
I like it a lot. !
September 4, 2014
works pretty well... the instructions leave a BIT to be desired (all pictures, not much useful text) but mounting is pretty logical and programming is annoying, but only at first. Counting the 2 on the back (SET and RESET) and the dual button on the front its really a 4 button unit... but again... a little trial and error and it sets up pretty quickly. Once set you only need the dual button on the front. A back light button would be nice (if it had one).Since it involves running wire on a bike You may want to have some extra tie wraps handy to account for the trial and error of a first time mounting. (I bought 2 of these and the second one went in super fast/easy.) Thanks to the person saying extrema heat in a super hot car can cook one of these. Really that is just common sense but, Good to know.Assuming it holds up I would call this a 5 star unit. Very solid operation!!!My guess is its pretty dam accurate with just factory settings. Odds are I will end up with one of these on all my bikes.AND BTW, TO SET THAT CLOCK... after you select 12 or 24 hours (and before you push SET on the back of the unit) push and hold the front buttons and the hours will blink,, adjust as needed then push hold front buttons again to set min... then push rear SET button and your done. (took me forever to figure that out)
Works well
August 15, 2013
I wanted one installation that measured my speed whether on the road or on the trainer. This means I needed to mount the sensor on the rear wheel. Wireless bike computers don't have the range to allow that, so I got this wired unit. The wire is not long enough to reach from the rear wheel to the handlebar, so I mounted the display unit on the crossbar. The wire is long enough that the computer display is pretty close to the handlebar, clearing the leg motion and not interfering with mounting/dismounting the bike and also is easy to see with a downward glance; it is essentially in the same field of view as a handlebar mount.I also had to make a spacer to attach the sensor inboard close enough to the rear wheel that it senses the magnetic field from the magnet on the spoke. A piece of old nylon cutting board for the spacer, a file to shape it so the zip ties held it securely, and some hot glue to keep it from shifting were enough. The computer itself is easy to use and easy to mount. Unless you want a lot more features, this seems to work well. It really is nice having one button to to change modes and reset for a trip.I have not tried it in wet or cold weather yet, so I won't give it 5 stars until I see that it remains functional in bad weather.

Mounting it on the bike was a breeze
September 22, 2017
I subtract one star from the Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror because it was terribly hard to assemble, I guess they don't want anything coming loose. Mounting it on the bike was a breeze, it slips right in and tightens up snuggly. If you have arthritis or limited hand mobility I would not recommend you buy this product.

August 29, 2017
It's a very good mirror, I was concerned about getting one that attaches to my helmet so I got this instead. Installation was pretty simple, instructions were clear. Be sure to use the washers, and as others have said, don't be concerned about those cap screws. The inserts are conical so it gets really tight as you tighten them, it even says so in the instructions, you're not cross threading anything. I wonder if it really needs to be THAT tight though. It could been designed to just have some loctite already on the threads, or the conical insert doesn't need to be so extreme.
Good, solid fit, once I figured out how to tighten everything.
August 12, 2017
Good quality and a solid fit. However, like others, I had some difficulty in screwing in the very tight fitting parts. Finally, I gently clamped vise grips onto one piece and could then leverage the include allen wrench enough to complete the assembly. Using the expanding piece that goes inside the handlebar tube made for a very secure fit.
Worth the Money
July 7, 2017
Well made and a nice design. As a result of recent neck surgery my ability to turn my head and "check my six" is still somewhat limited. This mirror works just fine and is a welcome addition to my bike. The mirror itself has good optical quality and when adjusted properly shows a clear view of what is behind you and in my case probably overtaking you.

August 6, 2015
I almost returned this product because the screws were very difficult to get in and I didn't want to strip the barrel but it's a nice mirror. Also the wedge is a great idea but takes some figuring out and the instructions suck. That aside once it's on your bike it's easily adjustable and a high quality glass so you can see very well. It doesn't really work for road bikes though because when you have the mirror that low (since your handlebars bend down) you can barely see.
Good basic mirror.
August 13, 2013
Follow the directions when putting this together. This goes together very tightly, and to get the proper leverage for screwing it together, it really helps to follow the directions. As they state, it feels like you will break it, but chances are you won't. I thought for sure I was going to snap the thing in pieces getting it together, but it's really quite strong. All in all, installation was not hard if you can follow the directions.Adjusting the mirror takes some getting used to, but it's effective once you learn how to do it. It does not move around when riding, although I did not go off-road with it. Although this states it is for mountain bikes, I installed one on two different bikes - both hybrids. We're not heavy users of our bikes, and this is doing a good job for us.The reason I have not given five stars is because this is not as user friendly as the mirror I replaced on my bike, which was also a handlebar end mounted mirror. For the price, however, I am pleased with this purchase. We'll have to see how it holds up the first time I run it into a sign pole or something.

They still make these hard wired?
October 29, 2017
Just received it and I guess I didn't read the specs very well before ordering. I didn't know they still made bike speedometers witha wire connecting the sensor and the computer. Been a decade since I had to run a wire up my fork to the computer. Quaint.Instructions for programing are cryptic pictures. Web site for detailed instructions will not open. I used the quick tire sizing set up and could tell it was incorrect because I rode a distance that I know is 9 miles and got a trip of 12 miles.Nice clear screen now I just need to decipher the instructions,Jim Benefiel
I also don't like the selection of tire sizes (mine wasn't included)
September 5, 2017
I wish they would include a longer connection--one that reached my rear wheel so I could use it on my rollers. I also don't like the selection of tire sizes (mine wasn't included). I much prefer computers that allow one to input a direct measurement.
NOT FOR FATBIKES
August 30, 2017
looks like a good item with good reviews. does NOT fit a fat tired bike. I'm trying a modification but unsure it will work.
Five stars if the wire between the pick-up sensor and the dislplay were longer.
September 23, 2016
I like the large display and like using this. I would likely purchase this again if something happened to the one I have. I gave it three stars because the wire between the sensor and the display IS WAY TOO SHORT!!!!! I hope the manufacturer reads this. The only way I could install this on my bike was to CUT the wire in half and splice a longer wire into it. Completely ridiculous. It's also impossible to program without the instruction sheet.
Suprised
March 19, 2015
I have a 26" conventional style bike, the electrical wire is very short which makes it difficult to link the sending unit and computer. Directions recommends how to route the wire and if you attempt to do it in that manner its too short. I found the directions in setting the unit somewhat difficult, finally did so by trial and error after many attempts. Installing sensor and magnet which attach to spokes, required modification to the unit to bring it close enough them close enough. Cateye has good reviews and I am quite surprised they didn't do a better job designing this unit. It may fit the touring bike much better, do to the fact the tire to handle bars are closer together and the fork tend to be narrower which allows the sending unit to be installed closer to the spokes. I have mounted numerous speed computers and this was the most difficult. Cateye needs to extend the wire another 6 inches and design the pickup/sending unit mount with more adjust ability in mounting.
Slightly disappointed
September 30, 2014
The function of the computer is as advertised, but I had a REALLY hard time finding a place to mount the sensor where it passes within 5mm of the spoke chip. I have a mountain bike with a few modifications on it so I can use it as a (slow) road bike/touring bike and I really had to scout to get the placement right. I actually ended up putting a piece of dense foam under the sensor to lift it off the frame a little. Also, if you want to mount this on your REAR tire because you are going to use a bike trainer, the cord is barely long enough. I am 5'2" tall, so you can imagine that my frame isn't all that big, I think it is 15" if I remember correctly. If you tried to do it on a larger frame, the screen of the computer would be where your bottle cage is. As it is, my screen is about 4" from my handlebars on the top tube. I'm a little disappointed. I was happy that they included extra zip ties. I needed to get some more after all of the mounting and re-mounting, but having more than the minimum is helpful.

Good bike mirror but breaks too easily
August 27, 2017
Very good bike mirror that is particularly easy to adjust. But it is very subject to breakage in the black connecting pieces. Needs stronger material.
I absolutely love these mirrors
March 1, 2016
I absolutely love these mirrors....real glass, no distortion and would (and in the past) have given high ratings for them. THey do seem to have one consistent flaw. The screw that joins the top arm with the shaft, is a very very tight fit. (It says so in the instructions). That tight fit seems to cause some flaring of the shaft which isn't noticeable at first...but small cracks will start forming in the plastic and eventually the bottom portion will become loose or will actually start having pieces crack off...leaving one with a mirror that doesn't/can't stay in place. And that leads to duct tape or glue or..well... Anyhoo - best mirror on the market with a bit of a design/engineering flaw.
DIFFICULT TO USE
February 24, 2015
One might say that's not the product's fault but many reviews talk about how useful it is. The mirror is too small, it's too far away, and it's unsteady (unlike a car mirror). Seeing what's behind me is like trying to aim the sites of a gun. Turning my head isn't much more trouble and I can see everything. Maybe a smaller mirror attached to my helmet would be better. There's also the fact that it must be removed in order to turn the bike upside down for maintenance. I have a hangar, but sometimes that is easier. The materials look good. I'm a little surprised at how tight the bolts fit into the elongated nuts. I design and build things but I'm not familiar with that. I guess it's to make sure they hold position. It feels a little weird forcing the bolts into those nuts, because I'm always concerned about stripping that sort of thing. That's not a problem, just weird.
OK, not the best for drop bars
May 7, 2013
I tried the Third Eye bar end mirror on a drop bar but it mounted too close to the bike and I had to pull my leg all the way up and all the way in to see out of it. This mirror works better because of the outboard extension you get from the mounting arm. But when riding on the tops your forearm blocks your view so you have to move your arm a little to see the mirror. Not a dealbreaker. The view is acceptable, but the Take A Look eyeglass mirror works better for me. You can see clearer and further behind you than with the Mirrycle. Also the road vibration is transmitted to the Mirrycle a little more than the Take A Look. It's not that bad though, being that this mirror sticks out on the end of an arm, the vibration is only a little. The mirror is big enough and the image quality is clear. If I didn't have the Take A Look, I would like this Mirrycle. Another reviewer mentioned having to move your head and neck to get the Take A Look lined up and that's true. But if you take the time to really tweak the position of the TAL, you don't need to move your head too far. Nothing's perfect but I give a slight preference to the TAL, with this Mirrycle close behind.
Mirror great. Mounting hardware bad.
March 18, 2013
Installed fine. The mirror itself is really nice. But where the screw from the mirror arm attaches to the part that comes up from the handlebar is very weak plastic. Some reviews have stated that it breaks when leaned up against a wall or when hitting a branch or something. I didn't even get that far. Mine cracked when inserting the screw. How tight did I twist that screw? Well, that screw is what determines if you can adjust the mirror angle when your riding. So it cant be very tight at all, or the mirror wont twist on that screw. So I went from a little tight and the mirror was flopping all over the place, to a little tighter...and the plastic arm cracked. :\ Not good. I tapped it up, but after a couple of days, the whole arm splintered down to that ridged part near the handle bar. And the mirror wont stay on the arm at all now. I'm going to see if I can order just that arm (I thought I saw a part number) or just get a whole other mirror from someone else.Update: LOL! I just looked it up. Replace the mirror base arm and have it shipped to me from Mirrycle, $10 bucks. Whole new mirror system from Amazon, $11 bucks.
Disappointed...
October 8, 2010
Given the very favorable reviews, I had no doubt that I should go with these mirrors. I bought my first one about a month ago. I assembled it, which was pretty straight forward, except that the screws were very tight. It seems like the screw threads are not compatible with the nut threads. I had to use some machine oil to be able to tighten them. Upon assembling it, the mirror worked fine. That is, until the plastic parts broke at the nuts. So, in deed, the screws are a bit too large for the nuts. I am absolutely sure I did not over tighten the screws. (I've been working on carbon frame bikes for years, using several types of tools, including torque wrenches.) I returned it and bought another one, thinking it was an isolated problem with that specific unit. The same thing happened to the second unit. I tried again, and, again, the same problem happened with the third unit. Conclusion: I can that the unit is well engineered and would work very well, if it wasn't for this issue. I will write to the manufacturer to inquire. Maybe it was a bad batch of screws or nut, or both. I'll keep trying, since I do believe the manufacturer can easily fix this problem and the reviews, both here and on other retailers sites virtually only say good things about this product. And also because there's not seem to be a bike mirror out there that can compare to this one in terms of quality and performance. Yes, I would recommend this product to other, but be aware that you might have to replace the mirror. Or you can try to find screws that are adequately sized. Good luck!

ODO doesn't work.
July 25, 2016
This computer attaches easily and securely. It works except for the odometer, which is stuck at 8 miles. (It's the only setting that doesn't reset when you hold down the button.) Now I need to find how to return it for a replacement. Hopefully, I can get them to let me keep the parts I've already installed and just replace the unit. July 21, 2016
1. Instructions very difficult to understand. I had to go to youtune to figure out how to set it up.2.Once installed it worked to my expectations: a. odometer was very accurate b. speed was nice to see c.trip time good feature d. reset was easy.3. After 3 weeks of use the unit failed to work. Will return it for another identical unit. Hope I have better luck with replacement.

I've had this for a little over a month now and am disappointed. I wanted something for my bike that would work on my trainer stand in the winter. The first issue is that the cord is not long enough to reach the back wheel. So I put the meter on the crossbar under me. Even so the thing has only worked sporadically since installation. The pickup magnet is not working despite installing to their specs. I've sent a note to CatEye support, we'll see how that works.
Great until it stops working

For 3 months I loved this thing. After that, the display just switched to a clock only, and none of the other functions work. It's still a nice little clock but I miss seeing my current and average speed, etc.
A few disappointments
June 2, 2015
I have a Cateye Mity 8 on my bike that I have enjoyed for years, and I bought this for my wife's. However I am disappointed in this unit. The first problem I had was that the cord is too short on it. I was able to mount it to her Jamis Citizen Hybrid bike, but I was unable to really secure the wire like I wanted. It seems that the wire is just long enough to be used in the middle of the handle bars or stem. For other reasons I put her out on the ends of the bars just inside the grips, but I was unable to wrap the wire around the brake cables. Instead I zip tied it to some key points on the bars and the forks, but there is a section that runs along the head tube that just hangs out there with no other support. If it gets snagged, it is a goner. My next disappointment in it was the lack of being able to preset the odometer like the Mity 8 allows. This is a pain because I already know how many miles are on the bike and wanted it to start with that number. Cateye computers also reset the odometer when changing the battery, so this feature was to manually input the mileage again. My biggest disappointment in it though is in the Odometer display itself. It doesn't display tenths of a mile (my Mity 8 does). All the other modes will display tenths, but not the odometer. The mount for the unit itself doesn't have a press down latch to release the unit. It uses a friction system that takes a little bit of force to pop it off, but I can see that wearing out after some time.
Works as described

Great little computer that works as describes. Pretty simple to mount, just follow the instructions and you can accumulate data ASAP. Also, consider using it with mapmyride to get route data.EDIT 7/6/2015I've had this for one year now and it pretty much has fallen apart, doesn't pick up the sensor all the time, and doesn't provide accurate speeds when paired with a Garmin. It worked well for one season, but barely works now.

Part of mirror was defective causing it to not go together properly.
Very hard to adjust properly
April 18, 2016
I had some trouble figuring out how to get it to fit in my handlebars, but then I figured out that the wedge expands as you turn the screw, so then it gets nicely wedged in there. The instructions didn't really make that clear, so I spent some time trying to get the bigger piece to fit in my handlebar because I thought the small piece was too small. I find this mirror extremely hard to adjust so that I can get a good view of what is behind me, and then as soon as I get it adjusted properly, it gets bumped and I have to start all over. I am about to give up on it and try a helmet mirror. I think this would rate a 3 if I didn't have to park my bike in tight spaces where the mirror is getting knocked out of position, but needing to readjust it every time I ride is dangerous.
Keep looking for something better
July 7, 2015
Keep looking, while it was easy to install and it does kind of work I would definitely have to say find something else. The mirror is hard to adjust while riding and the lens is just to small. I can't quite ever get it in the position I need it in, because it simply doesn't adjust well. I do a lot of city riding and wanted something that could keep me a bit safer with all the cars. This is not it., and for 14 bucks I'm sure there has to be a better option.
Not as good as the first mirror I purchased
August 10, 2013
I love this design because it works well with drop down handle bars on my bicycle. The problem was that the allen head adjustable screws are too hard to screw into the assembly. I had to ream out the female part of the thread assembly with one of my own screws to get them started. They state in their instructions that turning the screws will be hard to install so they don't turn after assembly. They are more then hard to install they are almost impossible. The screws are not machined deep enough to start into the female part of the thread assembly. Anyway, I got it work, mostly because I've worked around machinery all my life. A novice will have a hard time. Maybe, this was just a quality control problem
Incorrect Screws or Damaged Threads
April 17, 2013
I really wanted to like this mirror as I had physically looked at several different types and this one seemed to have the most flexible use and mirror image quality (actual glass). Some of these use plastic and the image quality is really poor. My attempt to install the mirror was thwarted by two bad screws. The screws themselves appeared to be okay however, they were either too long (would not screw completely into their intended holes) or their intended holes were too short or internally damaged which would not allow the screws to be properly seated. Because of this the mirror could not be assembled. It was returned.
it just works - but fragile (update)
November 17, 2012
Installation was easy and I was really surprised at how well I could see behind me. I had expected a lot more vibration- there is practically none. Tighten all the screws (there are 3) enough so that they are snug but you are able to move the arms for adjustments. Getting ready to order another for my wife's bike.UPDATE: So I liked the mirror much I put it on my wife's bike and ordered another one for mine. Opened the package and found a broken mirror lens. Amazon was great (as usual) about the return and sending a replacement. So I mount the mirror just snug enough so that it stays put but can be adjusted fairly easily, also figuring the flexibility would protect the lens if bumped. Well, I bumped the end of the mirror and the lens broke - in less than one day!! (No, I wasn't riding off-road.)Maybe I just had a run of bad luck, but a plain glass lens this big seems to be asking to break. Regardless, my original 5 stars is now only 2.

Device wouldn't set.

I'm sorry to say my computer didn't work. It had battery power to it, but when I was trying to do the settings, the SET button didn't seem to be working. I had selected miles per hour instead of kilometers and when I pushed the SET button, there was no response. This review is not intended to be any reflection on Amazon or the way they handle things. I am very satisfied with them.
Not able to make it work.

Prompt delivery. Easy install, reasonable programming, but could not get it to sense the rotating front wheel. Unfortunately, have to return.

bad computer - never turned on even after changing the battery ... then I put on another computer that I already owned and things worked for a couple of rides - then it suddenly wouldn't register when I was moving - ie. good computer but bad wiring ... overall total trash

Terrible product. The set button was difficult to press and I had a hard time setting up the computer because of that. I ended up pushing the button too deep and the product is no longer working as a result. I was told the computer was not eligible for return/replacement. I had only had it for 40 days when it broke.

Confusing instructions and didn't wrk w my road bike. I'll have the bike shop install one.
SCREWS WRONG SIZE...but got it to work...
September 18, 2016
Two of the screws are incorrect sizes...one that holds mirror to arm and one the one you can see in the picture of item on top of arm. The screws strip the thread....how hard is it to get the correct size screws? I guess I'll crank the crap out of them and see if it brakes then send it back.Ok...so I cranked the crud out of the two screws and it did not break..."you'll hear weird noises as you crank down on the screws...and hope is does not break on you" I would change the star to 3 stars since it seems like the product will preform like needed...but I'll keep the one star for the screw issue that should be fixed.
Poorly made
July 16, 2016
The threads to screw the mirror housing together were misaligned and as soon as I applied the slightest amount of rotational force to screw the housing together the metal screw receptacle broke free from the plastic housing - unless junk.
Save your money... CHEAP JUNK.

The mirror works GREAT... as long as it lasts. I have had TWO of these mirrors and the long arm that holds the mirror breaks VERY easily. In my experience, the average life span of these mirrors is anywhere from 3 days to a week. The mirror arm is hollow and will break after a bumpy ride or even a stiff wind! VERY DISAPPOINTED! I have since purchased a compact motorcycle mirror that is high quality aluminum and MUCH better for a mountain bike. One star because No stars is available. Horrible. Impossible to attach to bar with rubber hand grips. Fell off one mile from home, reattached as tight as I could attach it. Next ride fell off and broke. The round size bouncing is difficult to see traffic. Bought Sunlite Deluxe 11.5" mirror, bigger field of view with less wasted surface area (basic geometry), $1.50 cheaper, and is rock solid.
