Good Value

Great for the price. I've only had six rides with it as of this writing, but a nice large number at the top shows your speed. Some good features, like temperature, are included, which I didn't find on many competitors. Many nice features, some of which I need to learn to use. A very good value for wireless.

Once I figured out how to program it, works great. The instructions seemed straight forward, but I stumbled all over them. Easy to install on the bike. Numbers are large for old eyes - big plusCon: the "O" rings weren't large or stretchy enough to go around the handle bars or fork so had to use the zip ties. Bike is a Specialized Sequoia
Exactly what i was looking for
July 8, 2017
This cycling computer does exactly what I was looking for. It gives current speed, top speed, trip distance, total distance, trip time, total time, and a clock. The install was easy when following the instructions, although one of the included zip ties didn't work. Once installed, the speedometer updates speed quickly and it's easy to cycle between the different displays. Great value for the price.
Excellent! Ship the bike shop and get this!

very happy with this! I purchased this to replace a very expensive one that broke which i had purchased from one of those boutique bike stores. this was MUCH less than that one and works just as good, AND it was really east to install! No need to take your bike to a special store, you can order and install this one yourself!
I LOVE the single button operation & the large readout
December 1, 2015
Review by the Quilt Lady's hubbyI had long ago installed one of these on my bike & she wanted one too. This is a simple to install & operate unit. I LOVE the single button operation & the large readout. It's easier to use that the more pricey unit on my TREK road bike. It give's you trip length, time in motion, avg & max speeds & total distance overall ridden (odometer). What more could you want?If you want it to be accurate I recommend measuring the circumference of tire with a ruler & chalk by the method described in the literature than relying on the figures they give in the cross reference chart.
Sigma Sport BC8.12

Ordered this for my husband's road bike. He is a recreational rider but wanted to track his speed, time and distance. He first mounted the magnet portion halfway down his front fork with the "computer" portion on his handlebar stem. He discovered that this was not the best placement of either part. He then raised the magnet part higher up the fork, closer to the top and re-ran the wire around his front tire brake cable and up to the handlebar to the left of the stem. Now it's located where he won't knock it around while removing the front tire when loading and unloading the bike from our vehicle. He loves the unit, it has nice sized readout and is very simple to operate. It's german made so it should last a long time.
Reasonably priced; Works Great!
September 15, 2013
I ordered this based on the limited number of reviews I read on Amazon. All were 4s or 5s, however. The price seemed right so I ordered it. When I received the item, I found it easy to install, and when I tried it out I was very pleased with the results. I'm not someone who needs a lot of special information from a computer such as this. I'm in my sixties and I ride as post stroke therapy, so what I really want to know is how far I've gone, how long it took me and what my average speed was. That way, I can better track my progress. We'll see over time how well it holds up, but for now I couldn't be happier

Cheap and effective. My only concern is that computer attaches to the mount via a relatively loose twist-lock mechanism, and it's easy to bump it off if you bump it the wrong way.

Works well and set up was easy enough. There is not much of manual, so you will have to figure out the function .
Great computer - needs better/stronger mount.
May 1, 2017
This is my second BC 8.12. I love the first one and it still works great. Unfortunately early on I attempted to remove the computer from it's mount but twisted it the wrong way which put a crack in the mount. From then on the computer was not seated as tightly as it should have been, fell out numerous times, and eventually didn't make good contact with the wheel counter pins. I tried fixing it with epoxy, super glue, etc, and it just didn't hold. I bought this second one because I really like the computer and am going to be very careful removing and inserting into the mount. That is the weak link! The computer works great and I am very happy with it. The controls are easy to use, have all the things I care about - ride time, trip distance, total distance, etc.
Solid unit is better than an older model I had for many years
October 27, 2016
Solid performer. No problems so far since I installed it 2 months ago. This unit replaced a previous Sigma Sport computer that inexplicably popped off my bike on a commute and was ran over by several cars before I could recover it. The previous unit was probably about 5 years old and performing fine. I had no intention of replacing it until I was forced to. In comparison to the old unit, the new one has a better user interface under normal use, but is quite unintuitive when going through the setup functions. If you need a basic bike computer, this one is a good value.
Great little unit but came with a flat battery
May 26, 2015
This is a great little unit - simple, waterproof, does the basics. One feature it has that others do not is the ability to enter your previous total distance (for example when changing the battery). I like that. It's a wired unit, meaning no hassles with wireless transmission failures, but you do have to deal with a wire of course. But the unit itself simply unclips from the holder so you can take it with you when leaving your bike.Speaking of the battery, the reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is that my unit arrived with a completely dead battery meaning I had to go and buy a replacement, which is annoying. The instructions say the unit is shipped in "deep sleep" mode and has to be woken up, but mine was definitely in a coma, not deep sleep. By the way, the instructions about how to wake the unit up are also contradictory - they are noted in two places with two different buttons to press. (neither woke mine up, but a new battery definitely fixed things).
Works well and waterproof
September 15, 2013
This is what I use on my daily commute. I tried this after another company's product didn't work. So far it is standing up to the Pacific NW rain and that is a lot.

Works well once you realize that you have to turn it on before starting as it doesn't start automatically. Not very intuitive.
It's okay
February 23, 2016
Although I had to rig it up a bit differently to accommodate a stationary bike we use for the winter season, it is functional. However, I find it a bit complicated to set up and search for the various readings it offers. I only need to really know speed, calories burned and time of riding. Will see what happens this summer when I set it up for the front wheel reading and we're outside with it. Right now, a little more than I needed.
Poor instructions
December 29, 2015
Be prepared to figure out the installation of this computer on your own. The instructions are incomplete and poorly written, but if you've installed a bike computer before you will be able to figure it out. The zip ties provided for installation are of very low quality, so I recommend you buy some decent ones to keep everything in place.
I think I'll send it back.
October 7, 2015
There are things about this computer that I like and one which makes me want to return it. I have had two computers before which were not wireless. The wire used on each failed after a while with the minimum chaffing that occurs. With the previous understanding of the prior computers, it was child's play installing the new computer, but the instructions are almost worthless as to using all the features. I like the temperature reading as I have never had that before. The calories/fat burned feature is interesting but it is difficult to bring it up on the screen. It takes a lot of tapping of the two sensory buttons to get these features to show up on screen. The real big head ache with this computer is that to reset the daily trip data to zero requires removing and reinstalling the battery in the computer, which also means you have to reset ALL the pertinent data of Tire Circumference, Miles vs KM, Degrees Fahrenheit vs Celcius, Pounds vs Kilograms, and personal body weight. The touch sensitive buttons are not too positive and frequently speed over digits or past the entry number you want so if you get the set up incorrect, you have to start over by removing the battery when something incorrect is in the computer. This is a fifteen minute or more process for something that you want to do just to reset daily miles and time to zero and leave the rest alone. What kind of Asian mind would NOT PROVIDE a daily trip reset function to leave the standard settings alone? The only thing I hated about my older computers is that to reset daily, I would have to re-enter the tire circumference, Miles vs KM which was a two button exercise that required only a minute.

August 28, 2017
Functionally it's fine but the mounting system leaves a lot to be desired. I broke two of the nylon zip ties with very little effort. Because there is no clamping mechanism and the glue pads are weak the display mount needs to be adjusted. The magnet spoke friction clamp has to be realigned often.
Will hopefully be fine once I get it set up correctly
July 31, 2017
Bought this as a replacement for my Sigma BC5.12 as I think it was one of the best "bang for your buck" cycling purchases I've made in some time. I opted for this unit as it's a bit more feature-rich and uses the same mounting system, and I was hoping to avoid re-wrapping the cable. The mounting system continue to be the biggest pro and con of this unit as it can pop in and out of its bracket whether the timing is convenient or not (which is how I finally lost my BC 5.12).So far it's looking like I'll have to use the included cable / wheel sensor as the former one doesn't seem to play well with the BC8, and they only read each other maybe half the time. Setup nav is still a little clunky, but feature-use while riding is easy and smooth with only a single button to worry about.
Hard to fit to a fat bike 4 inch Rim ...
July 13, 2017
Hard to fit to a fat bike 4 inch Rim,its deeper then a normal bike rim so more space between spokes and fork. Had to mount the spoke sensor low on the spokes close to the axle to get the 1/4 inch required Tried many times to get mileage correct by changing tires size on one our rail trails where there are mile markers and can't get it correct, either over or under a mile so far. Will return to the rail trail again sometime to try again...
Good but the trip odometer sometimes resets accidentally.
January 8, 2016
This works well enough. It's pretty easy to set up, and allows pretty much any tire size. The screen is nice and big, easy to read. It comes with both elastic bands and zipties for attaching to the bike. The elastic bands worked okay for a while but are starting to get loose, so I'm going to switch to the zipties.Pretty much the only problem I have with it is that it the trip odometer has accidentally reset twice (in 200 miles), and the main odometer takes several clicks to get to so it's kind of a pain to see the actual mileage.

August 28, 2015
sometimes it doesn't work and you have to remove it from the socket and put it back.Other than that it works ok, has all basic funcitions.con: you can't see the total distance during you ride your bike only if the bike doesn't move you can switch to that view.
Good basic workhorse bike computer
May 9, 2015
Computer is pretty basic but works nice. It functions as expected. The odometer is pretty accurate. Setup was easy once I got it to turn on. It did arrive with a completely dead battery, however, which left me spending a bunch of time trying to get it to work, and then having to go to the store to buy a new battery in the hopes that it was the problem. It was. After putting in a new battery, it turned right on. I would rate it a 4 out of 5, but I'm docking a star for selling a product with a dead battery. Sigma may want to invest in better batteries or they will get a lot of unnecessary returns.

Rubber band broke within 2 weeks
June 18, 2017
The rubber band that holds the sensor to the fork broke within 2 weeks. This could be a safety hazard if the sensor then gets caught in the spokes of the front wheel.

Broke after just a couple months, even after a reset and redoing the setting, the unit was not accurate, Would have been 5 stars if it was still working!
Cant turn it off...EVER
July 28, 2015
Despite what the instruction manual states, this bike computer never turns off. Every one I've ever had turned on when you started riding and off like 5 minutes after you stop. This one just stays on no matter how long the bike sits. I called the manufacturer and they confirmed that it will not turn off. Expect to invest a lot in batteries.
