Don't Tie Them
December 30, 2016
I love the convenience of the Litter Genie. It makes digging through the treasure box a quick and painless chore. You can minimize bag waste by clamping the bag with a couple of 4 inch zip ties. It's really the best way to empty the pail since the odors stay locked in and you're less likely to contaminate the outside of the bag. Make sure you cinch them on tight. They're rated for 19 lbs and I've never had one break open on me. I store the zip ties on the bottom of the genie pail so they're always where I can find them.I've also read some complaints about smell. Just spray some Lysol around the rim and let the Lysol dry on the plastic. It should keep bacteria from breeding under the closed lid.
So much better than having a dirty trash can full of cat sh** sitting around!
December 13, 2016
I am stupid excited over this thing! lol. As the name implies, it's like a Diaper Genie, but for soiled cat litter! No more having to constantly walk to the community dumpster every time I scoop the litter box, because the choice was either that, or tie it up in a smaller trash bag and throw it in the kitchen trash can and have to smell it until the can was full enough to take out. It's just so much more convenient.I haven't personally had any problems with odor control using this, but if you do, a little sprinkle of baking soda in the bottom of the bag should take care of that.Initially I thought I wouldn't use the scoop that came with it because I expected it to be flimsy and honestly I really liked the scoop I already had, but the one that comes with it is actually really sturdy, easy to use, and is made to fit the opening of the can so no spills. I'm thinking now that I've used it, I will probably continue to use it after all.So all in all a great product and well worth the money. I highly recommend it. This thing has made cleaning out the litter box so much less aggravating for me. It also looks nice. Not like having a dirty trash can full of cat sh** sitting around.
I Should Have Bought This SOONER!
April 23, 2016
This is an item I purchased for myself and I'm not sure why I put it off for so long! I have been looking to get one of these for quite awhile.I have two cats and I feel like I'm constantly scooping out the litter box and going out to the trash. Although I take the garbage out everyday the trashcan will stink from the tied off bag of dirty litter. This Litter Genie is great! It was super easy to put the refill "bags" in, its super easy to use and best of all it doesn't STINK! It's sturdy but not heavy to move around because it's made of plastic and it comes with the litter scoop and the pocket on the side of the can to hold it.I have issues with removing the litter "bag" from this Litter Genie.#1 The opening in the top where you place the dirty litter is to small. I am showing the top with a measuring tape. I also wanted to show a picture of the middle where it opens (pardon the dirty litter). This is from last night and this early A.M. I am also showing pictures of how to retie and create a new "bag".#2 It opens in the middle of the can and then I had to figure out how to the cut the "bag" without spilling any dirty litter. It feels like I have to pull the bag to far down to cut it and it uses more of the "bags" then I had hoped. I'm sure I'll figure that out to my satisfaction as I use it more. I hope this is helpful to you. All in all I highly recommend this Litter Genie.

This thing is amazing! Having to take little our three or four times a day was making me question how my two cats can still be so cute. With this thing twice a month. It retains the smell to where it doesn't even seem like o have cats in the house anymore. The feature of having a bag cutter inside so it's easy to keep the cartridge going is wonderful! I attached a photo to show max capacity. And remember
An absolute must for cats!!
December 30, 2015
Still an outstanding product that does what it says. We have multiple cats and the litter cleaning used to be a real chore. With the Litter Genie it's just scoop, pop it in the Genie and pull the slide and no more odors. The non-branded refills do fit and although some say they are not as good as the originals, I find all of them work just the same. Of course, the caveat here is to change the bags when they are about 1/2 full as nothing ever made will stand the test of time against cat urine, no matter how well it clumps. I change the bag at least once a week, sometimes twice. I do find that litter box smell is dependent on the type of food they eat; ours eat both wet and dry food so sometimes it can be quite odoriferous. If there is a down side it is that the waste contaminates the bag on the way to the bottom so the upper part will always have some odor, especially if you cut the bags short when disposing. There is a cure for that in this little trick I devised. Place a Stick-Up deodorizer on the underside of the lid and when you lift the lid it's a pleasant citrus aroma. I buy the Stick-Ups and remove the sticky tape completely and place a strip of Velcro on the underside of the lid and another mating piece on the Stick-Up. Press it together and viola! You now have an even better Litter Genie. Plus, the top of the Stick-Up containing the scent gel can be pulled off the bottom so one application of Velcro is all that will be needed. Simply pull off the top section and replace it with the top section of the new Stick-Up and you're good to go again. That said we use a natural cat litter, so your mileage on bags may vary depending on the number of cats, their waste and type of litter. Here is another trick to assure your Litter Genie is always fresh smelling:
Love it!
October 21, 2014
Love it!! Perfect next to litter box, has a holder on outside for scoop, easy and wide enough to put used letter clumps in top. Keeps smells enclosed and keeps area clean. I wish I had bought this years ago! Easy to set up and has a cutter inside to cut bag and stretch out new one. I'm a clean fanatic so this is perfect!

Changed My Life!!
July 4, 2017
Changed my life!! How many of you love your kitties but hate the idea of the litter box? I hear ya! I have spent bunches on the electronic auto litter boxes and they worked a while but cost so much to replace and aren't the best. This litter box isn't automatic, but sure does make life much easier than having to deal with the scooper. A bonus is that it is covered so you don't have to see the contents all the time. I highly recommended this litter box!
Love It! Functions like a manual Litter Robot
May 8, 2017
This litter box is awesome! No scooping, just roll it to the side, roll it back, then remove the drawer which has all the kitty gifts. I also use a Litter Locker 2 and there is no mess or smell. Guests can't even tell we have a cat till he comes out for some loving. The Litter Robot is probably better, but it's so expensive. This works on exactly the same concept and is a fraction of the cost. I have a single small cat and only have to empty it daily, your mileage may vary (but it's so easy, it wouldn't bother me to empty it twice a day). I researched a lot of automated litter boxes before deciding on this one. It works great, the price is great and I highly recommend it!
Easy to use.
March 2, 2017
Pretty nifty.lol my cats love it and it's easy to clean. I bought 2 of them. You literal just roll it over slowly to let the screen filter the clumps. You do have to smack the bottom to dislodge any clumps if they pee in one corner. Then you roll back flat pull out the tray, dispose of used litter. Then roll box to the left and the unused litter returns to they potty area.
Two cats. One litter box. Zero problems!

Having married a "cat person", I have become an experienced cat owner. I love one, tolerate the other, and generally spend a lot of time with my dog. Aside from frequent grumblings about a certain smoky kitty poking holes in my furniture, my pet peeve centers around The Litter Box. This dreaded necessity has been my bane for the past four years. Until now! I have tested a variety of litter boxes, from the Booda Dome to the Breeze system, but have never been happy with their performance. For some reason, following my dog around and picking up his warm poop with a biodegradable plastic baggie wrapped around my hand has never bothered me (okay, maybe just a little). But scooping out a litter box?? The Horror! Smelly. Dusty. Messy. An overall disgusting experience that my "cat person" husband somehow has managed to avoid these past years. I have thus far been stuck with this delightful task. But two months ago, I took a stand and said, "No more!" No more will I be slave to the Box d'Odour. No more will I tolerate the sneezing fits associated with cleaning the dust-filled bins. Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box has come to my rescue! What I Love...It's such an easy task to roll the box onto it's side and let all the nasties fall into the convenient built-in tray. Dump the tray, and voila! No more messy litter box. It's that simple. No obnoxious cloud of dust assaults your face as the box remains covered at all times.Works surprisingly well with natural Swheat Scoop litter. Cheap, biodegradable and even flushable!I sprinkle a touch of baking soda in the box to extend the "life" of the litter as I do not like to wash the box more than once a month. I also add a few drops of essential oils for natural fragrance. My cats are super tolerant and don't mind these human shenanigans.Keep a good three inches of litter in the box and you'll never deal with odour again. What can I say? I may not love dealing with cat "presents" of all sorts, but I am definitely more accepting of this cat ownership thing ever since the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box rolled into my life.
Good or bad, who to listen to?
January 2, 2013
I am going to make this short and sweet, since there are MANY good reviews and just a few very bad reviews. What to believe heh? Here is the scoop (or 'roll' I should say). This product does what it says, and I have owned those automatic cat boxes for years. This is cleaner and easier to use. You may wonder about that since it is technically not "automatic". But it is SO much better that the automatic cat boxes AND LESS EXPENSIVE. My automatic cat box broke, so I bought this instead and I am glad I did. I will NEVER go back to the automatic cat boxes again! Now I have noticed a few people complaining that it either falls apart or the sand comes out when rolling or that the slide hooks (that hold the top portion to the bottom) don't fit, work or come apart. I have to agree that the hooks could be engineered a bit tougher or better, but that being said it is STILL a great produce. I have NO problem with sand coming out when I roll it, and I am a bit confused on how that would even happen (IF) done correctly.Every time I go to "roll" my cat box I just look at the connecting hooks to make sure they are secure. If I notice they are a bit to loose I re-secure them before rolling. Simple as that. Ultimately, I may drill a few holes into the top and bottom lid lip (where they meet) and just simply zip tie them together. But for now that is not something I need to do. BUT EVEN IF I wind up doing that I will still be purchasing two more of these cat boxes. (I own 3 very large cats)So even with a few minor imperfections I would STILL highly recommend this product! Just check to make sure everything is still secure before rolling if you are worried about it coming apart. (Which it never has happened to me.)

Invaluable; Makes Scooping Litter Boxes Almost Easy
August 22, 2017
For a long time I resisted getting a Litter Genie, because why? You can use a little grocery bag or throw it all in the trash and then empty the trash. But now that I have one, I can see it's invaluable. The setup is simple and almost a bit crude, but it works so well. I'd love it if the entire thing were a bit more sturdy, though, but it's hard to argue with what works. I have two others--one really old one that isn't the "plus" model that got broken (white) and a newer one that is silver. I bought this black one just to have one that was different, and now I regret that. The litter dust gets all over the black and make it look filthy almost immediately. I cannot keep the outside of it cleaned off. It always looks like it's been sitting in a haunted house for thirty years. If I ever need another one, I'll buy another silver one.
Solved a lot of problems.

Only 4 stars? I will explain that quickly and then tell you why it COULD be 5 stars. The attachment for the scooper makes it incredibly difficult to completely seal the top half of the genie itself. By simply not attaching it-I have no issues-so in that case I would give it 5 stars. Here is why:I have two cats-both male, both dominate. And they OVER use the litter box. For a couple years, I was really lazy about cleaning out the litter box. It was such a hassle.Ad then I would start to smell it. Have to find plastic grocery bags, make sure there are no holes, use two just in case, etc. I HATED IT. So this genie (I'm assuming modeled off the diaper genie) solved ALL OF THAT.I am not using the plastic scooper it came with, but a metal one I have just because I think it is more sturdy. After feeding the cats in the morning, I go to the litter box, scoop their junk into the genie, pull the lever out and it drops into the bag. No smell. No hassle. It sits right next to the litter box and there is no issue! With two male cats (one weighs about 14 lbs and the other about 20)- I have to replace the bag from the genie one every two weeks. And that is VERY easy to do!It comes with one set of bags-and I have been using it for about two months and I still haven't gone through all the bags. It is a huge relief to me and I know the cats are happy with a clean potty everyday. I used to have problems with one of them going on the floor-and now I am convinced it was because I wasn't cleaning out the litter box enough. It is a good product and I would highly recommend it.I do hope in the future they make one that has more sturdy plastic-as I can see this one is only going to last so long. It does feel a bit flimsy. But I'm not traveling around with it-so I should be good for a while. But I would like made out of metal or some material that is better than it is now.I do have to say that I can stick my nose right up to it-and I smell NOTHING when the bag is completely full.
Guarded razor somewhat hard to use, otherwise wonderful product.
April 28, 2016
I purchased this item because I am taking care of three cats. They have multiple litter boxes throughout the home but they all decided they'd rather use the one in the downstairs bathroom. After use from 3 cats, it started to be disgusting about halfway through the day. Scooping litter wasn't the issue, the issue was the smell that resulted if I didn't immediately take the soiled litter outside to the dumpster. Using the litter genie, I cannot smell ANYTHING even with the lid left open due to the compartment underneath that actually holds the waste bag. I'd give this a full 5 stars if it were a bit easier to cut the bag when emptying. (It has a built-in guarded razor but it's somewhat hard to get the bag in it correctly.) Everything else about this product is magnificent. I'll definitely be buying refills and using this for as long as possible. I keep a pair of scissors nearby to cut the bag manually, it is much easier than using the built-in razor.
Good
March 3, 2016
So this actually comes with a scooper. Unless I missed it, it never said that anywhere. So I bought another scooper. I don't like how small the opening is. And I wish there was some kind of latch on the lid so my toddler wouldn't open it.
Great product, makes cleaning up a breeze! Wish it was built a little more sturdy though...
March 20, 2015
As a new cat owner (I let a stray in on a cold winter night and she decided to keep us lol) I quickly realized how much I was going to HATE dealing with a litter box and cat waste. Keeping a wad of plastic grocery bags (that may or may not have holes in them) and then taking them down to the trash everyday just wasn't going to cut it. I was actually on the fence about keeping the cat until I did a few things to make owning her substantially easier. This product along with the great litter they sell here on Amazon plus a Cat Box/Washroom to hide the litter box has ensured Jinxy has a permanent home with us :)Now about this product - it came packaged well and was super easy to setup for first use. It includes the genie, a refill cartridge and a scoop. Just pull the seal off of the supplied refill cartride, insert into the unit, pull the film through the hole to the bottom of the genie and then tie a knot in the bottom of the film - latch it closed and it's ready to use.The usability of this product is spot on - it couldn't be easier to use! Just pop the lid, dump the waste in the funnel shaped hole, close the lid then pull the spring-tensioned sliding seal and the waste drops down into the bag. Let the seal go and you're done. Clean, no smell and it holds about a week's worth of waste for a medium sized cat.The only real issue I have with the product is that for something that sees daily use it is pretty flimsy... The plastic of the genie itself is very thin - it could stand to be at least twice as thick. I would easily pay twice as much for a heavier duty version. For the price though it's really hard to complain, especially for all the benefits it brings to the table.
It is very affordable for the start up costs. The refills however are not cheap.
March 8, 2015
This litter Genie is a very useful item to have next to the litter box. It comes with a scoop and a holder that attaches to the side. It was really easy to install the refill cartridge. There's a little tab you pull kind of like a milk jug lid, it tabs and you just pull around the top, then pull the plastic out and push it through the center, then tie a knot in the end of it and drop it into the top of the Genie. Close the top and it's ready to use. After you dump the dirty litter into the bucket you pull the black tab in the middle and slide it toward you. The dirty litter and bag drops down, and you let the black divider close over the dirty litter in the bag.It is not the same as the diaper Genie because it doesn't twist seal the litter, like that does the diapers. You open it in the middle below the divider, and gather the bag, use the white cuter tool that is attached under the divider and close and dispose of it. You then knot the new end on the plastic to make another bag and restart from the top.It would be much more convenient if it did twist and seal the litter, as the diaper genie does the diapers. As is the design is not a whole lot different from a step on can that has a tightly sealed lid. It is very affordable for the start up costs. The refills however are not cheap.

I love the easy of cleaning this pan
September 30, 2017
I love the ease of cleaning this pan, I have had none of the problems with leaking sand others have reported but to be on the safe side and because it is just more convenient where I have situated the pan (under a shelf) to pull it out over the litter catcher mat. The high lip keeps most of the sand in better than my old box did but the cats took to it right away. They seem to like that fact that now that it is easier to clean It gets emptied more often. The only room for improvement that I can see is that the tray is angled for easy pouring which leaves a gap at the rear of the shelf that clumps can fall into, a baffle would correct that. Tipping the box toward the front before rolling helps somewhat with this problem,As with all litter boxes clumps will adhere to the bottom and it is more of a hassle to either reach in threw the hole or to take the lid off to dislodge them than it is with an open or hinged top box but I have heard people say that silicone non stick spray helps. I plan to order some soon.

July 7, 2017
This is the newer design with the push down clips & the kung fu grip for the waste drawer. My only ding is if the grate starts to tear at the corners again. I do intend on using a hair dryer to heat up the seam BEFORE bending. I also suggest getting a can of clear to spray the bottom & lower sides, grate, and waste drawer. Makes it far easier to clean. Natures Miracle Litter Powder works great as well. My ding is the $19.99 shipping to get a replacement grate. $26 for everything vs $20 for just the grate, real tough decision Omega Paw.
Haven't had leaking of litter like other viewers have stated
June 24, 2017
Haven't had leaking of litter like other viewers have stated. One needs to flip to empty at least twice a day otherwise it sticks to bottom and does not go into pan. I have had it 2 weeks but it's at the point I need to take apart and throughly clean. So can't comment on that process. Cats tend to go straight in and do their business near opening. Litter is still scattered from their paws. Cats adjusted well, there was cat urine/poo several hours after I put down.
Pretty Good - I may get another
September 19, 2016
I received the Large Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter box about a week ago. I have five cats, so keeping their litter boxes clean is a major chore and one that periodically gets neglected leading to odors and other nastiness. I had high hopes that this product would make cleaning their box a breeze, so I could stay on top of it daily or even more frequently. Here are my first impressions after a week of ownership.Construction and Assembly: The product is made of a sturdy plastic, however the insert that holds and filters the litter inside while "rolling" seems a little flimsy and I'm concerned about whether it will hold up. The clips that hold the top and bottom together are on the small side and difficult to open/close. They do a good job of staying latched and there is no spillage of litter when rolling, but I suspect it will be difficult to open this thing up when it is in need of a deep cleaning.Size: This product comes in at least two sizes (Large and Regular). Some of my cats are >15lbs, so I thought I needed the large box, but in hind-sight I wish I would have chosen the smaller one. All of my cats easily fit inside this thing and have plenty of room to move around. The smaller one is cheaper, takes up less space, and is easier to operate, so unless you have a HUGE kitty, go with the smaller one. Note that the large one is just under 2-feet wide and thus, rolling it over completely requires more than 4 feet of space. I had thought you could get a way with only rolling it half way, but no, not really. This is not the litter box for tight spaces.Usage: When shopping for this, I was skeptical. I was most concerned that soiled litter would break up and remain in the box. So far, that has not been an issue. The rolling action really does work and the box can be cleaned quite quickly. However, it is not all roses. So far, my biggest problem has been soiled litter sticking to the bottom of the box. Not only did I need to roll it over completely, but I had to pound and pound on the bottom (the "top" when upside down) of the box to dislodge the sticky litter. Even this did not remove it all, and I ended up having to do some scraping with my traditional scoop. Another issue is that rolling this thing across a dirty floor (with 5 litter boxes, and a couple cats that like to let the litter fly, it's always dirty) leads to the top of the box becoming dirty as well. So, if you're a clean freak, this may not be the box for you. Despite the sticky litter, It was still faster than scooping the other conventional litter boxes, so assuming this thing holds up, I will probably be happy with my purchase. Also, households with fewer cats may have better luck, as the litter won't be quite so soiled between scoopings.I mainly gave this 3 stars due to the "flimsy" filter piece, the small latches, and the "dirt collecting" outer finish. Fix any of these and it's a 4-star product, add a solution to the litter sticking to the bottom and it's 5-stars.Update: After about 6 weeks of use, I've decided to add one more star. I it really does save a lot of time compared to scooping a conventional litter box. The "sticking" litter has been less of a problem than I thought as I figured out I can usually just pound on it a few times when upside down. The biggest problem still seems to be that litter sticks to the outside and my cats always leave a nice pile of litter outside the box for me to roll it through, so it is kind of messy and requires a big space, but otherwise it works great.
love this litter box
November 8, 2014
love this litter box. cleaning it couldnt be easier. no more torn plastic bags with litter falling out everytime i changed the litter. for some reason my cats love to dig way down and rip the cat liners. this is easy to clean out. i do it at least 2 times a day. i feel like it saves in cat litter as well.now, about me. 2 cats ( definetely needed the large omega. my cats are averaged size)I am also a cheapskate, however for the money invested, well worth it. only 4 stars because i had it only a short time.i also love the fact that i am not bending down and scraping the bottom of the litter box.when. i clean the litterbox, when it is turned on its side, i bang the bottom of it to get the stuff thats stuck on the bottom
GREAT Litter Box - Just keep in mind a few things!
July 7, 2014
Love this litter box! It took a little while to grow on me, only because I'm always skeptical of new things and am always playing devil's advocate when it comes to change. :) But after two weeks of use, I am convinced it's worth it. I was trying to weigh the pros and cons, and decided that as long as you:1) Always check that the little plastic clips around the litter box are always tightly secured2) Use the right kind of clumping litter (I am currently mixing Precious Cat clumping litter and World's Best Cat Litter for multiple cat households, but will eventually transition over to JUST World's Best)3) Tilt the litter box slowly when doing the change, so that all the "good litter" sifts into the sifting chamber before the clumps fall into the dispenser4) Tilt the box all the way to upside-down position5) Tap/Hit the bottom of the box...it works GREAT.I know that sounds like a lot. But at the end of the day - I think all of that is better and more convenient than the action of scooping litter.ALSO: When coupled with the Cat Litter Genie, it is PERFECT.

It may have worked, but not for me.
June 14, 2017
I think it would do its job but for me I found two issues.1.) From the minute I took it out of the box I noticed just how flimsy and cheap it was. Very cheap plastic and I doubted it would last very long.2.) I have three big male cats and by the time I scooped out the litter boxes for the day the litter genie was full so to me it was exactly the same as a trash bag and taking it out every single day.
Not a Purrrfect System
August 23, 2016
I came across this item as I was looking for a cat litter mat to protect my carpet from cat litter when emptying the litterbox. I saw it had great reviews so I took the plunge and purchased the item. Upon receiving, you have a little bit of work to do to put the product together. The directions the product came with are not clear as to what to do, but with a little trial and error you can figure out how to assemble the product.Once you get used to how the product works and its quirks, it's great. I can empty the litterbox without making trips to the can outside. I don't notice any odor. I can see how the disposal system will get messy over time, so, like another reviewer pointed out, it's a good idea to use disinfecting wipes on the unit every now and then to keep it clean.I rated this product three stars due to the difficulty in use for first time users and how it serves just a small convenience over scooping litter into a plastic bag, which is what I did previously.
It's okay, but...
August 6, 2016
The Plus version includes the scoop. I threw it out, it's too wide to pour the waste into the funnel! Then, I had a difficult time cutting the bag when it was time to change it. (I made a huge mess) I am using scissors the next time. I'm disappointed the clumps need to be broken up in order to compress into the compartment. On the positive side, it looks good, there is no smell and it eliminates my bag collection.
Great concept, overly expensive replacement bags

Easy to use, NO odor with the original replacement bagsI think there is some kind of a deodorant between the layers of the replacement bagsBUT - - the OEM replacements are 47 cents per foot, and the competitors replacement bags are only 27 cents per foot.Time will tell if the replacement Chinese bags stink through before they are fullBut as I have 2 cats and 2 litter boxes - the recycle time will be short - and the poop may not penetrateBefore the bag is full and needs recycling (update pending).
good at first, but not once the plastic (to form the bag) needed a refill.
April 29, 2016
Initially I really liked this genie. It worked well, though it took a bit to get used to how to use it. Though it seems simple, Getting the bag to come down correctly was a bit tricky. It kept the odor down and was easy to use after the second pull down. The problem arose when I needed to change the bag (refill). There isn't an easy way to tell if the bag is close to finish; therefore, what happened was I kept putting in the clumped litter and what I didn't know was the bag (plastic) ended and thus the litter simply filled the bottom container and the bag was mixed it. It was really quite the mess. when I finally got it all cleaned out and tried to put a refill into the device; the refill was about a half-inch too big, though they were sold as an addition to the genie. I have put a small bag into the bottom and hope it will work.
Good, but I preferred the Litter Locker 2
December 8, 2015
I have tried both this product and the Litter Locker 2. Although this one is nice and did work as advertised, I preferred the litter locker for a number of reasons. For starters, although both seem to contain smell fairly well, the litter genie is much smaller than the locker, and therefore fills up quicker and needs emptied out more often. Another reason is that the entire top comes off of the litter locker, whereas with the genie, the top part flips up. This makes cleaning that part much more difficult as you can not remove it from the rest of the case. Since this is where you dump the dirty litter, it tends to get fairly messy and I like the ability to remove and fully sanitize this portion, making the locker a better design. One final reason, and probably the most important to me, is that the litter locker makes it much easier to use garbage bags instead of the refills sold in store. I like to use the 8 gallon trash bags instead of buying the expensive refills. With the litter locker, I can simply place the garbage bag in and put the lid on, which holds it securely in place. The genie, however, since it folds down, makes it much more difficult to use trash bags with. You have to keep an empty refill and wrap the trash bag around that, securing it in place with a rubber band. Although it can be done, it isn't nearly as easy or secure as the litter locker 2. Therefore, although it does do a good job of containing smells and does help with litter box scooping, if I had a choice between the two this would be my second choice.

Nice design.......BUT....
November 5, 2017
The product itself seems to be made well, tho I fear every time I roll it that I'm going to end up with litter and kitty 'goodies' all over my floor, as one of the latches will NOT latch so I don't feel it's really secure. It appears that the top & bottom are warped and no matter how hard I try, there's a gap that the latch can not cover so it remains unlatched. Also, as other reviewers have mentioned, it would be REALLY nice if they would put instructions on how to assemble in the box as well. Although it looks large from the outside, it really isn't since half the box is taken up with the sieve and the little dumping shelf. One of my cats refuses to get in it at all, and the other one only sporadically. I've also noticed that it really doesn't empty all the poops and clumps out, not sure where they are hiding, but even though I pound on the bottom like another reviewer advised, I don't get much in the bucket thingy.
The concept was good. Sadly lacking in the actual design
June 9, 2017
The concept was good. Sadly lacking in the actual design. I found the plastic screen inside does not stay in place. Also, when "rolling" the litter box to the right, the hing/clasp in front comes apart and leaked kitty litter sand all over. If they were to redesign with better materials and more clasps, it would be a great cat litter box. Oh, when rolling the litter box and then rolling back, this has to be done several times to catch the majority of the big clumps. I then had to scoop the little stuff out with a regular litter sifting scooper.
it was cool for the first couple days
May 14, 2017
what can i say - it's a litter box. it was cool for the first couple days, however after a few months i find myself scooping daily anyway. it's a great idea, which is why i gave it three stars, unfortunately the drawer on mine doesn't push all the way in no matter how hard you try, and the screen inside is too large (meaning the holes) to catch any of the smaller clumped bits. it's good for a quick clean-up if you don't have time to be thorough (ie - before work), but for me, it doesn't really do it. with that being said - my two cats have 3 boxes altogether - and for some reason this is their favorite. will be trying to revamp mine by attaching a smaller mesh to the screen inside.
Great concept, doesn't always work as well as advertised
July 19, 2016
I love the concept and it makes cleaning the litter box much easier - most of the time. But the hood is secured to the base with four plastic latches that sometimes work themselves loose. The litter box is cleaned by turning the whole thing on its side, so if the latches aren't secure you will end up dumping a lot of litter onto the floor. I recommend putting a rug or towel under the box to catch any accidental spills and be sure to check all of the latches before each cleaning. Also, you cannot over fill with litter or the excess litter will just fall into the waste trap when you clean. I have large cats that pee a lot so this shallower fill often results in clumps is litter sticking to the bottom of the box. It's not a big deal to break them free with a litter scoop. But it does mean that cleaning the box requires more steps than you might expect.I've been reasonable happy with this litter box but probably would not purchase if I had the chance to do over.
The lid cannot be secured properly on the one I got
February 19, 2016
I am returning this because the locking mechanisms do not all line up and that makes it impossible to turn the box upside down while rolling to collect the litter. Litter falls out from the loose areas that are not secured. I don't know why they use the type of locking mechanism that they did. I have a regular litterbox with a hood which has snap down locks that are much easier to use. It isn't self-cleaning though. I really wanted to be able to use this box and wish it had worked better. Unfortunately, the plastic is just not good quality and doesn't line up and fit together perfectly. The inventor of this box should make a new and improved one. If it was well made, worked right and fit together to last, I would pay more for it. What a shame.Update: I decided to try something. I bought some nuts and bolts and washers and used those in a couple of the fastener locks because I couldn't get the plastic parts to slide into place. It now seems to hold together well enough that I can roll, rock and turn the whole thing upside down. It might be a bit of a pain having to unscrew the nuts and bolts when it is time to hose out the box, but in the meantime, it is easier to clean the litter. I may be keeping this after all.
Going back to the Litter Maid
December 21, 2015
My wife and I have owned this box for a good portion of two years. In that time, I've dumped more clumps of cat waste than I care to admit. While this has been a great way for us to save money (coming from an electric litter box) its negatives have unfortunately exceeded the positives.Pros:- Easy to "scoop" - Just roll it to the side- Our dog has a hard time climbing in, so he doesn't have as many "midnight snacks"- Our cat took to it immediately; we feared he would be afraid of it, but that wasn't the case at allCons:- If I forget to dump it for more than three days, or if he uses it as soon as I dump it, the cat smells like straight-up poop. I have to wipe him down to get the smell out.- It's very bulky, so our second bathroom has been forced to become "the cat's bathroom"- If you don't have a large cup for your litter, you won't be able to refill it unless you take the whole thing apart- The clips on the sides don't completely hold it together, so every time you dump it, you need to make sure you vacuum- Due to how large it is, trying to completely change the litter is far from convenient- Dust kicks up very easily- Our cat is getting older and has recently began to leave his poo uncovered. Getting in there with a scooper, in order to cover it, is more inconvenient than it's worth.I wanted so much to love this. My mom loves hers. In the beginning, we loved ours. I can accept that we're just two different people and won't see eye-to-eye on this one.Au revoir, Omega Paw!

We are very disappointed in these Liter Genie units
September 10, 2017
We are very disappointed in these Liter Genie units. They are so flimsy in comparison to the ones from the past. Everything bends & moves around when you are attempting to use them. Actually one of them had come all apart during shipping I think. The various parts & pieces were laying in the bottom of the box. I would give it a one rating but I don't like the word that accompanies it. At any rate no I can't recommend these and since they are used I won't return them but I will return to using the old method of liter removal. They were also supposed to be the darker gray to better match the litter boxes and they are light gray instead. We will not be replacing them either. A plastic bag is more substantial than these flimsy items.

July 31, 2017
While this is a great concept, the bag cutter doesn't work well at all. We struggle with it every time.If you buy this make sure the bottom of the bag is tied off REALLY well! We had the knot in one bag come undone as my daughter was taking it out to the trash. Thank goodness this happened over our hard bathroom floor and not on the carpet. It was a huge disgusting mess to clean up.
Not impressed.
July 5, 2017
First impressions (more later): Not impressed in quality of construction. Flimsy and the top and bottom don't fit together well. Side holder for scoop gets in the way of closing the top and bottom and won't stay on. Loading bags is awkward. The proof will be in the poop.
Okay..broke really easily
March 17, 2017
Love the product but as soon as I assembled it and started using it the piece that slides in to the top broke off so now the cover won't stay on when I open it! Love the the idea of this but wish it wouldn't have broke so quick. I will continue to use this because its really handy.
Compact and nice looking but not practical
July 11, 2016
Two stars for the product concept and quality. If you have big cats, it's not suitable, the opening is too small for the litter to pass, I have a four months kitten,so it will last a while. I use wood pellets as litter, the urine will turn to dust at the bottom, I only need to scoop the solid, if you use regular litter, it might drive you crazy, try to push the big clumps down, and you need to clean the opening everyday, if not, it really smell. I saw the Litter Genie wipes at local store, that's for this purpose.I kept it at the upstairs bathroom for that litter box, but I turn to old fashion way, scoop and bag it for the downstairs box, I have no confidence to carry this genie around too much, accidents might happen.Good concept for apartment or smaller home, it will save trip to the dumpster, but in noway it will hold two weeks waste, even you have a kitten.Amazon have good price, so it won't break the bank to try, probably not buy the refill, just scoop and bag everyday.
Difficult to use
January 1, 2015
I had high hopes for this product. Unfortunately I found it cumbersome to use. Scooping the litter and placing it in the container was easy enough but then you need to pull the latch open in order for the soiled litter to fall into the sealed container. The latch is difficult to open and requires a two handed operation (you need to hold the unit down firmly with one hand while pulling the latch open with the other). Even while doing this the latch took some effort to get open. The unit does seal the litter well and eliminates odor. But after a while you need to empty the bag and again this was not that easy to do. The included cutter did not work properly and I needed to use scissors to cut the bag. Once you remove the dirty bag, you then need to pull down more of the plastic bag and tie it off to begin collecting more litter. After a week or so of use I decided all of this was more work than it was worth and returned to my old method of scooping litter (I keep a garbage bag in the garage for the litter and discard it often to eliminate odors).

It's a pass for me.
April 12, 2017
I loved the idea of this, but it just doesn't function as intended & it stunk. I bought decent quality litter & cleaned it every day but it was as if the plastic trapped the urine smell in the nooks & crannies of the removal tray. When rolling to clean it, it'd often leak litter. My cat took to it well & he was a digger & a kicker so the walls were great... But yeah, the way it would waft cat stink even after being cleaned made this a hard no for me.
Doesn't last
April 6, 2017
I have a bad back and bought this to avoid all of the bending involved in cleaning the litter box. It worked fine the first few times, then sprung a leak. After that, every time I flipped it, some of the litter leaked out onto the floor. Eventually the two halves wouldn't even stay together. I haven't used the flipping feature in a year. Replacing it. Too bad because it's a good idea in theory.
Don't bother
September 1, 2016
If you don't want to scoop cat poop, don't get a cat. These gimmick litter boxes do not work. With this model, you must use clumping litter, and it's great with the things that clump. When you tip the box, the clumps roll along the screen, too large to pass through, and into the scooper. But, sometimes things don't clump. If the cat poops next to the wall, or in the corner of the wall and the screen, you have to take the box apart and clean it. The screen has to be cleared, sometimes clumping litter clumps with the screen in the middle of the clump. The two pieces didn't go together like a matched pair so to get the clasps closed there was some jiggering. And if you don't close the clasps correctly, the next time you tip the box you get a nasty surprise. Bit the bullet, get a normal box, or get this one. And, two days later you'll make a trip to the pet shop to get a normal box after you deal with this under performing gimmick
6 months of use before breaking....
March 31, 2016
Bought the Omega Paw Self Cleaning Litter Box on a recommendation from a friend. Along with the great reviews, it was a no brainer. I bought about 6 months ago and had to request a replacement because the seam where the litter is filtered was cracked. The replacement did everything it was supposed to; super easy to use. However, I scrub the litter box at least once a month so it doesn't smell (soap and water). This was difficult and the sAmerican issue happened with the seam. It's a flawed design that needs to be improved. The plastic used cannot handle being bent and wears too easy. Overall it is a great concept but falls a bit short on the design. I've now gone back to the regular litter box.
Bummer, low quality plastic ruins product.
August 30, 2015
Unfortunately the plastic that holds the sifter in place arrived already beginning to tear like many of the negative reviews said. I was hoping they were just unlucky. With that defect I don't see this product lasting more than a couple months. If that were the only problem it would have been fixable with duct tape but there were other problems too. We were planning on keeping the litter box uncovered and only cover it when it needed to be cleaned but the top cover does not align and fit perfectly with the bottom tub, so taking it on and off every time using force on those flimsy plastic tabs I'm sure they would have broken over regular usage too. The tray also does not fit perfectly into the top clam shell either, there's about a quarter inch gap on the right side of the tray that I'm sure would sprinkle a little litter out each time while turning. Bummer. Really disappointing because I really wanted to like this product but overall the quality of the plastic is too low. Thankfully Amazon is absolutely wonderful about taking returns! They should come out with a "premium" model that fixes these problems and add $15 to the cost, I'd gladly reconsider purchasing.
Not perfect, but the best we have found and used
March 22, 2015
Update:Most recent box split on the ends after 3 days of use!!! Plastic seems thinner and less flexible on the 'hinge" of the screen where it used to crack after about a year's usage.Back it goes for replacement, and we will try again. I wish the manufacturer would read the reviews posted here and fix the problem. I urge anyone whose box has prematurely failed on the hinge to send it back to Amazon--maybe then the manufacturer will be forced to actually improve the product.I'm reducing our rating to two stars based on the most recent box.Original Review:Not perfect, but the best we have found and used. Many people have posted hints so I have nothing to add about usage.I do wish the quality were a little better on the divider. On every box we have had (we keep three in rotation and have probably cycled through about a dozen) the divider has cracked along the top, where it folds to make a right angle to clamp down on the top of the bottom box. The plastic is run thin to make a kind of continuous hinge, and it splits after some usage--every time. You can repair with tape which will keep it in place for a while. We would love to see an x-large model too, since two of our cats are approaching 20 pounds. The good news is--by the time the hinge finally gives up the ghost the box is usually unclean-able. We do a compete empty/scrub the box inside and out/all new litter every few months, but eventually the build up from the kitty pee will not clean off. (Our cats are pretty big, so they typically pee against the sides of the box.

Disappointment. Cheap plastic.
September 22, 2017
Broken and scratched! I just opened this and the top was all scratched. No big deal, it goes by the litter box but the button that keeps the bottom shut does not work and their is a spring rolling around in the bottom of the pail. Requesting refund.
Ehh

More effort then it's worth great ideas just doesn't work well doesn't stay closed and my cat like to jump on it and knock it over just keep scooping it and taking it out not worth it
Buy a Tupperware container instead
July 3, 2017
This is an ok product and the concept is cool. But it still gets stinky and the bags are outrageously expensive. I found that using a Tupperware container with a grocery store produce bag works much better. It takes up less space, no need to purchase expensive bags, and you can't even smell it. Plus, it is much easier to keep this container clean.
I LOVE my original Litter Genie
March 14, 2017
Litter Genie Plus is not an upgrade - the design is flawed, and it is almost unusable. I LOVE my original Litter Genie, and I ordered a second one (the Litter Genie Plus) so I could have one at each litter box. The Plus is a mess - the top doesn't stay connected to the bottom if you try to move it, and the sliding latch is cumbersome and gets stuck. Definitely buy the original. Definitely do NOT buy the plus.

POOR FIT AND FINISH ON LATCH AND JUNK
December 10, 2015
This is absolutely the biggest waste of money! I have ordered several and they don't fit together well with the closure and end up with a mess. I order a lot of my things online as I live quite a distance from shopping malls and such and just easier and frequently cost saving but the design is decent but the item is flimsy and quality in fit and finish is poor. I have thrown away at least (4) of these and would discourage anyone from wasting their money and time cleaning up the litter.

Mine was a faulty product
September 19, 2017
I hadn't put it together for a long time because my house was in renovation. Now it is too late to return it, and I tried to contact the company, and they haven't responded. When I roll the canister, litter comes out the side. If I wanted litter all over the floor, I would just used a regular litter box and let the cats go wild. As it is, they see the little pile on the side and use that to pee on. It's absolutely useless. A very expensive mistake on my part. I have used these in the past and have been happy. I wish they would just replace this faulty product.
Bypass this box
September 18, 2017
Terrible box. Doesn't work. I purchased this. Threw out tge sifting sleeve and sufting separater almost immediately because the separator in the box never stayed in place and the siftinv sleeve got cat kitter everywhere when pulled out and karge clumps caught on the exit hoke which became disgusting, unsanitary and to gross to have to constantly clean. The shape makes it very awkward to rock. I use now like an expensive conventional litter box.
Not what you're hoping for...
July 10, 2017
I can't believe I threw away my cats Booda Dome for this :( I had high hopes, but all this litter box has done, is make cleanup WORSE. There is constantly a mess to sweep up, where there was hardly none before, and although I have purchased various brand-name clumping litters to use with it - wet clumps of urinated litter still stick to the back of the Omega, when I turn it over to filter. So, basically, it only filters out the dried up bowel movements, and the litter that's been urinated on, stays stuck to the wall - so I STILL have to use a shovel and get in there to clean it - totally defeating the purpose of this litter box. I will note by the way, I have tried using a small amount of litter, versus more - same issue occurs - and on a regular basis. I wish I didn't give this thing so much time, effort and experimentation to work, because I want my money back!!!! I'm going back to my booda dome.
It is a brilliant idea but just not well made
April 2, 2017
Ugh! You have to be REALLY good at getting just the right amount of litter or it will pour out of the sides when tipped. And I use A&H clumping litter (the best of all reviewed) and the pee clumps on the bottom do not come off with a bang on the bottom because you came put enough litter in there to have a decent bottom layer. And, where the grates meet the sides of the little box, little pieces of poo and pee get trapped. Ugh.It is a brilliant idea but just not well made.
Litter spills out when operating.
February 12, 2017
The rolling technique works but it doesn't seal at the joint between the two layers so a bunch of litter spills out onto the floor every time I use it. I took it apart, cleaned it and verified I had it assembled correctly but it's just not a good fit between the molded components. I'll probably try to fix it with some screws and glue before I toss it out.The design really needs a lot of other improvements- more latch points for the halves, handles for rolling, maybe some indicator lines to tell you when you've reached the right angle. You often have to look inside while you roll it to see whats going on and you get a face full of litter dust. If you over fill it you'll get spillage and the weight opens up the gap even more. Honestly, I found it to be just as much work as scooping but with more mess.
CATastrophy!
December 3, 2016
I have used this cat box for 3 months and have grown to hate it. The top did not fit tightly enough after several attempts and kitty litter sprinkled out when turning over. I finally duct taped all sides but at times kitty litter still sprinkled out when turning. I just could not get a tight fit attaching the top and bottom. I also found it heavy to turn over and had to sit on the floor to do so as impossible for me to do just bending over. Some people would have difficulty with this whether bending over or getting down and back up from the floor. Today I gave up and threw away the top after my final cleaning their way. As I suspected due to the odor of the cat box much urine soaked litter and some feces were left behind during their process. I will happily go back to the tried and true method of scooping out what you can see. I recommend you save your money.
