Five Star Reviews: | 61% These pens are awesome! I hesitated about buying them because of the ... March 20, 2017 These pens are awesome! I hesitated about buying them because of the price. Four pens for $12 did not sound like a quality ink pen. It just sounded too cheap. I was totally surprised when I received the package. These pens are beautiful. My husband claimed the chrome one right away, and I am going to give my grand-daughter the burgundy one. They write so well, and feel really comfortable in my hand. I think I will get years of use from the two I have left, and I will definitely be buying more of these for presents, especially since graduation is not too far off. Surprisingly high quality, and unbeatable for the price. November 23, 2016 These are actually surprisingly nice fountain pens. They have a fairly fine nib, but aren't scratchy like some fine nibs can be. Very good weight to them as well. I prefer a heavier pen, so for me that is very positive. I've inked up and used a couple of them without any issues. Good, consistent ink flow with mine as well. It's also really nice that they come with converters too. The cap is a nice snug fit and posts snugly as well. Except for the grip, these are pretty comparable to the x450, and both are superior to the 750, which is my least favorite Jinhao. I got these to use as an inexpensive everyday work pen and have found myself really liking them. The only possible negative is that the silver one is a little too over the top for my taste, but the others look really nice. Smooth-writing, very affordable fountain pens! March 14, 2015 These are great starter pens if you are just getting into using fountain pens. And if you have been using fountain pens for awhile, you will like these pens, too!The nibs are very smooth and and have a good ink flow. Please note that the nibs are smaller than the "standard" #6. That's not a problem, but if you're thinking that you might want to swap out these nibs for any of your #6 nibs, the #6 will not fit these pens. Jinhao x250 Pack of Four January 2, 2015 I purchased these pens on a whim shortly before Christmas, 2014. They arrived on the 23rd in perfect condition. I kept one and gave the other three away as gifts to friends and family members who have an interest in pens and writing--yes I told them they weren't expensive. Of the four pens delivered all were in perfect cosmetic shape and working order. The only fault was that the black pen's cap did not post (sit on the end of the pen while writing) securely. This defect was easily overlooked given the price. In regard to their merit as writing implements I was also pleased. The nibs are probably close to a Western-manufactured medium and the feed/nib combo produces a wet medium line. The pen will accept any standard make #6 sized nib. They write smoothly and skip infrequently. The screw plunger type cartridge converters (these pens require bottled ink) don't seem incredibly durable, but they work just fine and supposedly conform to the standard international converter specifications. The converter holds a decent amount of ink, but it is easy to burn through a filling due to the wetness of these pens. These pens are acceptably comfortable to use even though they are fairly heavy.Overall: A nice introduction to fountain pens at an incredibly low price. I will probably buy this product again to get more of my friends and family interested in fountain pens. There wasn't any major quality issues, they look great, and write amazing April 22, 2014 First let me start with the cons of ordering this product.1. The wait for this package to arrive is excruciatingly long. They took a little under 2 weeks, and call me impatient, but it felt like forever.2. One part of the pen was unglued. The cap has a small black cover, at the very end, but I fixed it with some glue and has been in perfect condition since. Because you could fix it with household glue, took less than 2 minutes to fix, and wouldn't have really affect the pen in any way other than appearances, it was just a small nuance.3. People will try to steal them, because they're amazingThe pros of this package are the following:1. They look fabulous, after only a few days of using the pen, I received countless compliments2. They write extremely smoothly as well. The lines are kind-of bold, close to the 1.00 mm G2 roller pens, but this doesn't bother me. They don't skip, and the ink flows very nicely as well.3. 4 pens for $21 is extremely cheap, where the only fountain pen I can buy locally is $15 and is no where close to as good as these are4. They come with refillable ink reservoirs, this makes it comfortable to be able to refill ultimately saves money as wellI would definitely recommend anyone to buy these pens, especially if you are a novice with fountain pens and are just testing the waters. Great Pens March 8, 2014 To be honest I bought these through the mobile app one night when I was drunk. But it was one of the best purchases I've made. I write in cursive and on the small side, and these work great. I would definitely recommend them. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 17% Four stars for a pen that does not claim to be more than it is April 20, 2017 For the price, you can't complain if one of them isn't perfect. They are not the best but a couple of the pens in my set of four write really well. I also like the grip. Besides, you can use a converter in another universal size pen if one of these have a bad nib. but they're otherwise great pens to learn with and to fiddle with June 6, 2016 These are obviously not top-of-the-line pens. Jinhao only come with a medium nib, which I find to be too wide for my preferred ink (Noodler's Baystate Blue) and the mediocre copy paper that circulates in my office, but they're otherwise great pens to learn with and to fiddle with, and I don't worry about losing them when I'm out and about. Also the nibs/converters and the nib housing are completely interchangeable between the pens, so I've only every inked up two pens (with different inks,) but I change the body to suit my mood. An easy way to show off a pen collection without having to clean the all out. I would probably buy again if different body styles were available, though the slightly upgraded Jinhao models aren't that much more money. The pens look beautiful and write very nicely May 16, 2016 The pens look beautiful and write very nicely. However, with long experience using fountain pens made in USA, Europe, and Japan, I can say that the mechanisms feel lighter and less precisely made than the more well known major brands. The snap of the cap when placing it on the pen does not feel as solid as my other pens, and more importantly the screw mechanism of the refillable cartridge seems to have a bit of play. One of the four cartridges was not assembled properly, with the internal sealing gasket out of alignment. As a result, that one cartridge will not fill. I am deciding how to replace it. All that said, I like the look, I like the writing feel, and I believe this pen pack to be an amazing bargain. I look forward to using these pens regularly.I will note that the stainless steel pen in this set, is not the same as a very similar one sold individually on Amazon. The other pen has more gold on the nib, writes more smoothly, and has a different refillable converter cartridge. The only differences external are a different script word on the band and, on the other pen, no JinHao log on the top of the clip. I was pleasantly surprised! March 13, 2016 I have been collecting both modern and vintage fountain pens for years. I have pens that usually range in the hundreds of dollars down to 70-100 dollars. These pens, which I purchased to give away in hopes of spreading the fountain pen bug among members of my family, are surprisingly well made and perform extremely well. The nibs are a bit wet for my taste but that can be corrected. I would recommend these instruments to anyone who is cost conscious but wants a fountain pen. One word of caution: every single pen totally leaked the first fill - I do not know why but after the initial fill they have stopped leaking and are quite dependable. Good quality fountain pen for price July 29, 2015 Got these pens on a lark. Someone in my job had a magazine on fountain pens, and they looked cool, but they were all expensive (up to 750k). I looked online for some cheap fountain pens, and after some searching found these.Upon receiving these pens, I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful they were. A coworker had a much more expensive fountain pen and he remarked that these pens are beautiful as well. They come with a twist load cartridge for ink (ink sold separately). I also ordered the 25 preloaded cartridges and they work amazingly. The weight of the pens feel good in my hand.As for writing, I found that the ink sometimes is difficult to get it to flow. Rinsing the nib almost always fixed the issue. Unfortunately, one of the nibs broke when I tried to clear it, but this may have been to my heavy handling. When the ink does flow, these pens work wonderfully. I have received many compliments on them, and carry one with me everywhere. Great deal! May 13, 2015 I recieved these four pens in a padded envelope. The pens were individually wrapped in plastic sleeves and in perfect shape. There is no box or carrying case. They are all heavy metal, with a plastic ink converter. Both nib and converter can be swapped out. The converter does not allow ink to completely fill the chamber but it still writes smoothly. Larger cartridges fit these pens and work quite well. All four pens have the gold tone trim and are quiet attractive. They are a great addition to any collection. I filled the silver pen with Edelstein Sapphire and the black pen with Aurora. The nib is not flexible but writes well. The only imperfections are: 1. that upon starting, you must restart because of dryness and 2) the clip is basically useless because it is too hard to pull open. Overall, I think this is a great pen for the price and getting four at one time is a real treat. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 10% Good and cheap. June 12, 2017 For the price these pens are very good, but they are still not as good as some more expensive pens. If you want to see if you will like using fountain pens these would be a great idea. I dropped one and the cap doesn't stay on as tight as it did before, but it still works. These are made in China. I recommend Jinhao 250 pens for beginners in the world of ... March 25, 2017 I recommend Jinhao 250 pens for beginners in the world of fountain pens. These pens are affordable and even if they lack quality and manufacturing consistency the purchase isn't burning a hole in your pocket. In the course of three years I still have 2 of the original 4 pens purchased in top notch condition. I have been very careful with keeping them. The other 2 pens have become replacement parts if anything is to go wrong with the 2 good pens. These pens are great for a couple of reasons. The first is they come with refillable converters. For people looking to have the contact of stained fingers this is a place to look. Beyond stained fingers with converters included with these pens a few other things are learned. A refillable converter allows the user to select which ink will be used upon each depletion of the reservoir.. I suggest remembering that reservoirs if a new color is for to refill the converter with water and flush until water is the only thing coming out of the nib of the pen.The weight of the pen might be a little heavier than the average pen in the market, but I like the weight. The weight of these pens allowed me to know something was in my hand and the tool was crafting my thoughts. The nib of the Jinhao 250 is exceptional for the price and quality of the pen. There have been many days that I have thought about comparing it to the nib of the LAMY Safari. I normally take notes with a Jinhao and a LAMY and the nib, a medium nib, is smooth and has just the right ink flow. Especially when using Noodler's ink. One great pen, 2 decent ones, and 1 i would never use August 1, 2016 Each pen runs differently which is the main con of this product. In terms of just looks, i really like all of them except the orange one because it's super tacky. i just like simple designs and colors. the maroon one for me runs like a 5 star product, but the black and silver one run like a 2-4 star depending on how it's feeling that day. they feel solid in the hand and the grip is not slippery which is a great plus. the pens just need to be more consistent across the board. I got one of the pens working pretty well, but now it is leaking between the ... February 23, 2016 I was very excited for these pens. I am a long term fountain pen user, but my budget does not always match my tastes. I was hoping that these would be an inexpensive decent, everyday option. They have been problematic. One converter broke almost immediately even with gentle use (all plastic converter), and another converter began leaking. The converters do not feed automatically; I have to open the pen periodically and twist the converter a bit to reload. I got one of the pens working pretty well, but now it is leaking between the base of the nib and the pen proper. For the brief few days that this one pen seemed to be working fairly well (except it would not feed automatically), I liked the feel of it, and the scratchiness of the nib seemed to resolve. I did order some new converters, hoping that maybe a little better converter might help some of the issues. The nibs have been a bit scratchy as well. Interestingly, I went in to shop for some new fountain pens, and I did not think I would order any more Jinhao pens, but I did order two "higher end" ones. They are still quite inexpensive, and with free Prime shipping, I thought I would give them a try. I realize that these pens are not Waterman's (I do have one) or some other expensive pen, and I guess I should be happy with what I got. I am hoping to be able to give better reviews to the two new ones I ordered and also to these after I get the new converters in. The color was cool, the weight was nice September 18, 2015 First, I was really excited when I got these last month. The color was cool, the weight was nice. I put four different color inks inside and tried with joy. However, as a beginner, I didn't know much about qualities. After I tried Pilot, Lamy, Schneider, I realize what a truly nice pen is like.Comparing to the other brands, these Jinhao pens have poor quality. The ink dries up quickly and it takes forever to go down. The nib is not comfortable to write with. And one of them leaks.Anyway, these four pens are cheap and okay for beginners to learn. NO INK September 2, 2015 I usually read all of the product description, but this one slipped past me. I didn't read the questions section either, was on vacation when ordering, and half a sleep. They are quality pens, my first fountain pen and boy I can't imagine a pen that is $200.00, wow. Back to the reading the description, NO INK COMES WITH THE PEN.In retrospect, maybe the ink would dry or something else. But again, NO INK WITH PEN, A PAIN IN THE BUTT.I would give 4 stars, but no ink and really not telling us that in plain English for newbies in the fountain pen world, so 3 stars for quality and that's it. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% The barrels are really nice, but the ink dries up and doesn't flow ... May 22, 2017 The barrels are really nice, but the ink dries up and doesn't flow out very well after the initial fill. They are a good weight but do not always post well March 26, 2017 I purchased these as a way to reorient myself to fountaIn pens. i had previously used fountain pens in high school but I found them tobe a little inconvenient andswitched to ball point pens. These arrived very fast, timely. They are a good weight but do not always post well. I have only used two of the four pens. Unfortunatlely these two have nib /feed problems. One of them will drop a single droplet of ink periodically and the other has a starting problem. I do like the way these write, smooth, on the drier side, when they are not giving me grief. I intend to swap the nib/feeds with the remaining two pens in the hope of getting two pens which write without the fore mentioned problems. Although these pens are inexpensive I do not think I would buy them again. They worked fine for the first few days January 15, 2017 They worked fine for the first few days, but after only a seemly short time of disuse, they dry up and stop working altogether. Low quality, wouldn't buy again. $5 for a fountain pen--you're getting what you pay for January 8, 2017 Dry nibs, leaky feed, cheat feel, horrible overall experience.Make sure you store these little gems upright so the ink sorta stays put. However, for the $5/pen price, you're not getting anything that should be better than total crap. 1 pen out of 4 works, and not terribly well at that. But they're pretty. And cheap. September 2, 2015 Okay. So. Here's the thing. Of the four pens I've received, one has a nib that's ground improperly (or something), meaning that it skips and starts ALL THE TIME. Another has problems filling up with ink (it just... won't), and the third fills properly, but then ink dribbles back out the filler hole! The last one works and fills alright, but only after fiddling with it for quite a while to get it started writing.Once it *does* start writing, though, it's wonderful. Nice, thick lines; pleasantly heavy feel; would be one of my favorites so far, if it didn't take a minute and a half to get it to write. And overall, the pens *do* look gorgeous. Don't get me wrong. They're beautiful. But seriously, spring for a Jinhao X450 -- I hear they're a lot better than these (these, by the way, are Jinhao X250s) -- or a Pilot Metropolitan (which, I can attest, works perfectly fine). That being said, they were two bucks apiece. Why the hell am I complaining? | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 8% Missing cap March 24, 2017 Ill chang this if I can figure out how to get an answer. One of the 4 pens was missing its cap. The black pen didnt have a cap. Can I get a replacement without returning the whole set? This is a pain You get what you pay for. March 14, 2017 These work for all of 5 minutes until they dry up. And the pen is very thick and heavy which makes it quite strenuous to write with. Get a pilot if you want a cheap fountain pen, They look good but break easily March 3, 2017 One of the pena broke the first time it was used and another one dies yesterday. The definitely don't last very long. They look nice though and write decently while they're alive. Would not waste time and money on these November 24, 2016 Would not waste time and money on these. Look great, write good, but the refillable cartridges work 2-4 times, then the seal holding the ink in breaks, and the pens are unusable. Would not be so bad if the disposable cartridges designated for this product actually worked, but they are too short for the barrel, and consequently are not operable. A complete waste of effort. The old adage, "you get what you pay for" is certainly true in this sense. Not good for a beginning fountain pen enthusiast because of all ... August 9, 2016 You get what you pay for. Cheap Chinese knock-off pens with scratchy nibs and unreliable converters. Not good for a beginning fountain pen enthusiast because of all the difficulties in making it write smoothly or just write at all. Good for someone that wants to tune nibs I suppose, but I'm not that person. Pretty Paperweights April 22, 2016 These arrived about a month earlier than expected, they look fine and have have a pleasant heft to them. Unfortunately, three of them are completely useless because they are all missing the same gasket on the cartridges. This leaves me with one potentially useful pen; I'll see if the final cartridge works after my ink arrives. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
