Five Star Reviews: | 67% ... true of teachers for decades and this stapler doesn't disappoint. Its sturdy and solid and flowers really smoothly August 13, 2016 Finally got tired of owning cheap staplers so got the tried and true of teachers for decades and this stapler doesn't disappoint. Its sturdy and solid and flowers really smoothly. I also got the recommended swingline premium staples and it's a perfect combo. I don't pay too much attention to the easy of stapling but we've all had or used a stapler that just sucks and this one is not that. I don't foresee any issues You Took My Stapler... July 16, 2016 Standard classic quality constructed stapler. This thing will withstand the next five generations. Not only can this be used to staple up to 20 pages at once, but you can also use it as a sturdy self-defense weapon against the hordes of zombies breaking down your door during that ill fated summer 2021.If it came in red, I'd be super duper happy. Hell, I'd even move down to the basement. Great Quality for the Price! March 8, 2016 I've been using a similar stapler for years and it was finally time to replace that one. This stapler works very well - I regularly staple 10+ pages together and it definitely stands up to that test! I would consider myself a heavy stapler, using it in multiple sessions throughout the day. This stapler is solid enough to withstand that use. And really, if it's a Swingline, you know it's going to be good!I believe the product description recommends that you only use Swingline brand staples, but I have regularly used this stapler with off-brand staples (whatever's cheapest on Amazon when I order them for work) and have not had much problem. It can occasionally be fussy if you're near the end of the strip of staples, but I've had that problem with other staplers, too. Great stapler. October 10, 2015 I'm fairly certain that the 1 star reviews on this product are operator error.I have run a whole rail of STAPLES brand standard 1/4 staples through this stapler since I bought it and have had no jams, binds, etc. I've stapled as little as 2 sheets together and as many as 15, and every time it was smooth as butter.I did not experience the "not closing the staples correctly on smaller stacks of paper" issue. This stapler is comfortable, efficient, and effective. It works nicely both flat on your desk as well as being held in your hand. I would gladly recommend this product for anyone who uses a stapler on a daily basis. Even if you just have occasional stapling needs, the difference in quality and comfort between this and a dollar store product is well worth the price difference. The Best Quality Stapler Out There July 22, 2015 I've had the same stapler in my office for a century or so, and I thought it was time for an upgrade. So, I bought the top of the line, Swingline. It's a lot heavier than I remember from my employment days, but it sure does make a perfectly flat staple. A lot of staplers don't flatten the staple so it doesn't fit loosely on the page. I always have to pull those out and staple again with a lot more pressure. But this guy doesn't mess around. With normal pressure ... it's BAM, BAM, I GOT 'ER DONE FOR YOU, HOW DO 'YA LIKE ME NOW? And I say, I like you a lot big guy! Not all staplers are created equal! April 21, 2011 I used to work in an office where everything they bought was the cheapest available. Notable among these items were the staplers. We probably spent $1000./yr. in labor unjamming cheap staplers in order to save $100. buying them! That is why I bought this GOOD Swingline Commercial model. It will staple anything you would normally want to staple, probably will do up to at least 10 pages thick. One thing I do with it is to staple coin flips, the cardboard holders for collectable coins, it does this well, and some cheaper models will not. However, that is not the reason I bought this particular stapler-the primary reason is because of reliablity. It never jams, never fails to work properly, within what are its reasonable limits. If you are going to bind thick folders, then you need a stapler for 1/2" staples, as opposed to an ordinary desk stapler. Note that Swingline makes two similar looking models, this one is a couple of bucks more than the other one, but for normal volume of use in a home environment, it should last a lifetime. Even in an office, you can probably expect quite a few years out of one of these. BTW-Do not permit anyone using any stapler to bang on it like they are trying to drive it through the desk. You don't have to treat one of these as fragile, but you don't need to act like John Henry driving a railroad spike, either. | 65% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 12% Good stapler! September 1, 2017 Finally found one that does not jam every five minutes. Looks like this one wants to work. Full size, holds a full row of staples at a time.Use Swingline S. F.4 staples in it. This is better then the old one it replaced August 9, 2017 When considering other "more affordable options" I realized it would not be worth the headache. I bought this product instead and went with the guys that have been doing this for many years. This is better then the old one it replaced, it's smooth and basically effortless to staple. Also has a nicer finish then their old products.I’m rating a 4 star only because it did jam when I used a generic brand of staples, probably cheap but they work fine in all of our other staplers. After switching staples it’s been working flawlessly. Metal! May 10, 2017 Upon opening the box I realize this stapler was metal. The way things are built today that was a nice surprise. Testing the stapler without paper it jammed after the third staple through. Using the stapler to staple two sheets or more together I haven't had an issue with jamming. Overall a great quality product. Works well! December 3, 2016 I bought this stapler for my daughter who is studying to be a teacher and needed to staple papers for her students. I wanted a stapler that she would be able to keep for years to come and this seems to be a good choice. It is a nice heavy weight stapler and doesn't feel flimsy. She has only used it to staple a few sheets together so far but it works as it should every time, no jamming or wonky stapling! Sturdy stapler May 17, 2015 I bought this stapler 2 1/2 years ago for home use. I've never had an issue with it jamming. Even when my toddler gets his hands on it and stomps on it to staple his crayons. It's heavier than I thought it would be but that was a bonus. It feels substantial but it's not uncomfortably heavy to use with one hand repeatedly. It doesn't take much effort no matter how many or how little sheets I am stapling. Reloading staples is simple to do as it opens easily. Well, it works! August 15, 2013 What can you say about a stapler? It staples? Sure. This one staples. It does it without bending staples and clogging. It is easy to open and load and stays shut when you don't want it to open.It takes abuse such as putting 21 sheets under the arm when it is rated for up to 20 and you slamming your hand down to try to pierce and lock everything together. All in all it is a well-built and sturdy stapler. The only complaint I ever have a bout staplers is that no matter how long a one you buy, it always ends up that you need one that can reach about a half inch farther. | 16% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 4% OK but not as good as the USA ones. October 25, 2017 Ordered one and it functioned perfectly, so well that I got a second one and it's OK but not as good as the first. The second will not cleanly fold a staple without paper. Not that you would normally do that but that's a way of checking the alignment and the second one is slightly out. Not so much so that it cannot be used but not quite as it should be. I have sworn by "Swingline" over the years and all have been perfect. However, these are the first Chinese ones I have purchased and, obviously, the quality control has gone down. Won't be purchasing them anymore unless they come back to USA even if it costs more. Nice but doesn't open all the way August 13, 2017 Nice stapler but it does not open all the way, as others had said. Three Stars June 21, 2016 Works well but it's made in China, they used to be made in the USA that's disappointing. I've always had this brand/type of stapler on my desk and have never been disappointed. March 20, 2016 Jamming a little since I received it, but I'm thinking it's because its new. I hope that it will stop after I've used it for a while. I've always had this brand/type of stapler on my desk and have never been disappointed. The 747 is the (much) smarter purchase. December 27, 2015 I would recommend the Swingline 747 Business Manual instead. Definitely worth the extra money. These become obstructed easily. Never like removing staples that are jammed, which happens often with these. Definitely buy the 747 instead; it is by far the best portable stapler on the market. Has never jammed and works tremendously after so many years. This is generally annoying and unneccessary November 15, 2015 It's okay.Three stars for the following reasons:-- To "unfold" the stapler, you have to hit a manual latch on the bottom. This is generally annoying and unneccessary.-- The top of the stapler where the logo is fell off after the first month | 7% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% Continually sticks September 22, 2017 Sorry but this is not a very good stapler. Continually sticks when I try to staple something. I could have spent $5 at Walmart and gotten a better quality stapler. DISAPPOINTING April 24, 2016 Had to return two of these back-to-back. Would have returned the third one, but it was a gift and I didn't find out it kept jamming until it was too late to return it. Not durable, which is disappointing because I owned one of these for more than 20 years before it broke! Not as good as expected from this brand, now made in China May 25, 2015 Does everything need to be made in China? I tested it new out of the box, the staples do not fold over closed even on each side. Our original Swingline Stapler is maybe twenty years old made in USA, and still works great. I purchased this new one for our daughter to use while away in school. I really do not think it will last or even do a neat job stapling school papers. I think you would be better off buying in a office supply store and testing before buying. It's probably the stapler I got in particular that doesn't function very well. April 11, 2015 It's probably the stapler I got in particular that doesn't function very well, but sometimes it has difficulty properly directing the prongs of the staples on the reverse side. Rather than follow the curve of the receptacle and hook around, they often will mash flat and cause the staple to not fully penetrate.I've used these for years with no troubles, so I likely have a dude, but the only solution I've found is to staple firmly and quickly for it to function properly. bought this in early november January 13, 2014 I bought this in early november with a high expectation--Swingline is known for their great staplers. Every office has one. My former (plastic) swingline broke, so I thought I'd replace it with this heavy duty metal one, thinking the construction of the first was lacking. I was wrong. It has jammed up so many times (often with one push, it'll try to send 2 or 3 staples through). Finally, it got so the staples just stay stuck in the part where they come out. I've tried to pry them out, but they are stuck. And I use good staples too. 2 months of use is just not good enough for me. NOT good for a classroom January 20, 2012 I bought a couple of these staplers for my high school classroom based on the low price and good reviews. Guess I should have know you get what you pay for--they are absolutely awful! The stapling mechanism is rough, requires more than average pressure to staple, and jams more often than any of the other staplers I own. Though they are made of metal, so not going to break like plastic, they are shoddily made and the "Swingline" logo on the top disappeared from both literally within a week of use. The worst part, though, is that they really struggle with more than about 5 sheets of paper at a time. My students have to turn in homework packets of about 10 sheets and these staplers almost never send a staple all the way through. Now everyone actively avoids them in favor of my other staplers...Just as a note, I don't think this is true of Swinglines in general-- the other, higher end Swinglines I have work wonderfully and have held up over multiple years. It is only this particular model I plan to avoid like the plague in the future :) I did give it two stars (instead of one) since my staplers do technically staple paper as long as you don't have too much of it and have strong hands! | 4% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 13% One was fine the other wouldn't stapler two pieces of paper together January 6, 2017 I ordered 2 of these for work. One was fine the other wouldn't stapler two pieces of paper together. I went to Amazon to return/exchange it and I got a pop up that it wasn't eligible for return! There is link to click on to take you to the policy, but nowhere does it explain why they won't take back defective merchandise. VERY UNHAPPY. I'm only out $6, but still... I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED IN THIS COMERCIAL STAPLER. I ... March 23, 2016 I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED IN THIS COMERCIAL STAPLER. I AM EVEN USING SWINGLINE SPEEDPOINT STAPLES AND TO USE IT, I HAVT TO FRAM THE DAYLIGHTS OUT OF IT JUST TO STAPLE S FEW PAGES TOGETHER. I GUESS BUYING THE CHEAPER MODLE OF THE S/W 27, WITH ITS SMOOTH OPERATION WAS A BIG MISTAKE. THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO VENT. JOHN F.SHRIVER. Wow!! Horrendous! December 15, 2015 Listen to all of the reviewers. This thing is horrible. I am a teacher and every time we used the stapler it jammed. I threw it in the garbage. I spent more time trying to fix it than anything. Probably stapled 100 pages total before completely falling apart. MADE IN CHINA AND DOES NOT WORK. February 13, 2015 MADE IN CHINA. Does not work.never worked correctly even with Swingline staples. Bought one year ago.Ended up crushing it with a sledgehammer after it kept jamming trying to staple 3pcs of printer paper together.Very disappointed. Now looking for a better stapler and never buying a Swingline again. Piece of junk. Look for a different brand. October 3, 2014 It wouldn't even load staples. The spring that brings the follower forward in the magazine stretched and hangs out so the cover can't even be closed. Tried to staple something by shaking the staples forward, but the hammer wouldn't catch a staple. I will never buy another Swingline stapler again. Only lasted a month November 6, 2012 I bought this stapler as an inexpensive replacement for my middle school classroom. Unfortunately, the students were able to render it useless in a matter of weeks. Surely, with adults using it, I can imagine it would have held up much longer but that doesn't do someone with children being the primary users much good. I've opted for an electric model. I'm hoping "no touch" will be just the cure I need to stop going through a stapler every 5 weeks.Update: FYI, the electric stapler is the perfect classroom stapler. I've had mine for over 2 years and it's still going strong. | 8% There are no reviews yet |
