Doesn't Jam/no more incomplete fastening/sturdy
August 27, 2017
Doesn't Jam/thoroughly staples several sheets together. After going through several brands and designs of staplers, I finally found one that doesn't jam or partially staple many sheets. No more pricked fingers trying to remove partially fastened pages or mangled staples stuck in the carriage!.Only light pressure needed to staple pages together .Sturdily made and well worth the money! 5 stars!
If only every product was built to last like these staplers...
July 6, 2017
The greatest stapler ever created. The only thing missing from this stapler is a built in security system to prevent co-workers from walking off with it. They will all be jealous and some will try, so keep a close eye on it! Otherwise, you'll be going around the office saying, "Excuse me, I believe you have my stapler..."
Heavy and good quality staplers, the RED ones are perfect for 'that' office guy too!
June 9, 2017
Good heavy staplers. The old "747" is a standby and go-to stapler for anyone who cares about quality over price. Of course you need to own multiple colors, with the RED one being the most important and sought after in the office! All Office Space references aside, these are very high quality staplers and are heavy duty and keep working well years after years.
THE BEST STAPLER YOU'LL EVER COME ACROSS
April 11, 2017
This stapler is beautiful and functional. its' sturdy and strong. Doesn't get any better than this stapler. Swingline...established in 1925 in America!! Don't get the cheaper brands, you will regret it as I did when I purchased a cheaper stapler here on amazon. Never again! I got my refund and immediately purchased the swingline...maybe twice as much but ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY PENNY!
... did not necessarily need to buy a big bold beautiful red retro stapler but I am glad I did
August 25, 2016
I did not necessarily need to buy a big bold beautiful red retro stapler but I am glad I did. It adds a splash of fun and color to my dreary office chores. Rubber pad bottom prevent my cat from launching it off desk. Functions well.UPDATE I unsuccessfully tried to use proper sized staples that were not Swingline. Non brand staples cause extreme jamming and renders this stapler completely uselesss. If you Use only swingline staples and ensure all hidden misfires are removed, this gadget will serve you well.
Swingline is awesome!
April 1, 2016
The Swingline 747 Business Manual Desktop Stapler is awesome! It is heavy duty, doesn't jam, and very reliable. Before purchasing this stapler, I had an off brand stapler that was constantly jamming and causing a lot of frustration. Now, I have no issues with jams. The stapler is heavy in weight, which lets me double it as a paper weight. Overall, I will never go back to another brand, Swingline is the best!

Requires only a soft touch
May 12, 2017
This replaced my very old swingline desk stapler and it is SO much easier to use. I used to have to smack the top of old stapler with my hand and this new one is so easy, I can even use it by just holding it in my hand rather than on the desk top. I am using it with the Optima premium staples and so far have had no problems at all.
Works well and requires very little effort.
May 20, 2016
I was looking for an easy-touch stapler that didn't cause stress on my wrist and hand when stapling and that didn't cost a fortune. This stapler fit the bill. The stapler works well and requires very little effort. And it actually staples 20 sheets of a paper as stated. My old stapler couldn't get through 10 sheets without jamming up or bending the staples. I do wish the stapler was just a bit smaller so it would be easier to grip (it's a rather larger staples), but it works very easily. I am happy with the ease and the cost.
*Note* It is not an effortless stapler, it is a "reduced effort stapler"
January 24, 2016
I used to use your typical black, metal stapler that takes a lot of clamping force. It wasn't that big of a deal though since I had not been doing any mass-stapling. However, recently my work has required me to do a lot more stapling, and the normal stapler was just not cutting it anymore. It made my hand ache and it jammed every so often. I've seen light touch staplers before in classrooms before where you could push down with one finger and was hoping that this stapler was one of those. Although it still requires more force than one of the aforementioned staplers, it is still very little and doesn't wear down my hand at all. Its about $9 cheaper than an actual one finger stapler, but I'm completely contempt with this "reduced effort" stapler vs my old one.
Smooth operator.
August 26, 2014
This is the smoothest operating stapler I have ever owned. I have only had it a few weeks and if it holds up for a while I will eventually replace all the staplers in my house with this easy to use, non-jamming stapler.
Small but Mighty Handheld Stapler
August 10, 2014
This new little handheld stapler works even better than my old standard-size Swingline stapler I had for many years. It takes the same size staples as the old one but only uses a half strip at a time.It takes up less space and takes less force to use. It's very comfortable to hold. It's quieter than the big one and looks nice too. It can staple up to 20 sheets at a time. I think it's a great improvement in design.
Works very well, but don't get too excited. It's still only a stapler.
March 18, 2010
Well, there is not much too say about this item. It's a stapler and it staples. It has a fairly small footprint compared to my original Swingline stapler, which is similar to the Swingline Commercial Desk Stapler (S7044401A).The "light touch" design works as described. It takes about the same amount of effort to staple 20 sheets of paper as it does to staple 2 sheets. I haven't had any issues stapling 20 or so sheets of paper, though the staples do start to bend if I go too much higher than that. However, 20 sheets is the stated capacity of this stapler, so I can't complain about that.It is a compact stapler, so it only takes half strips of staples. So, unless you buy half strips, you will have break all of your existing strips in half so they fit. I don't use a lot of staples in a given day, so this is not an issue for me. However, Swingline does make a full-size version, if you would prefer more capacity (or breaking the strips is just annoying to you).(Swingline PowerEase Reduced Effort Charcoal Stapler (S7087860))In summary, it's a nice little stapler and the reduced effort design performs as described. I definitely prefer this stapler over my others, which is why I purchased two of them (one for home and one for work). However, it is still just a stapler, so I've probably already written too much about it.

I think you have my stapler.
September 25, 2017
I think this is an office staple for anyone who grew up in the 90s. I love having it in my office as I always smile when I see it. It is really squeaky when you actually use it, but I suppose it can't be perfect. Bonus, you will be able to identify your stapler if someone takes it. Well, unless everyone in your office has a red stapler :-)
Recommend.
September 12, 2017
Anyone seen my stapler.Yes! It's red. It Staples things together! No complaints. Recommend.
No Staples
July 21, 2017
Quality, brightly colored stapler! However, if you ordered it to staple some papers...you'll have to go to the store to buy staples! Believe it or not, they don't include any...zero...none! Would be a 5 star otherwise!

Heavy
February 14, 2017
It is quite heavy and feels durable. The color is more gray than light blue. I found it a bit too heavy, especially for use on bulletin boards.
Awesome look, mostly sturdy, overall would recommend
May 29, 2014
Love it (well technically posted as "like it")! Very sturdy, made mostly out of metal and it has a good weight. Rubber bottom to keep it from sliding. I've only had it for a few weeks, but haven't had a hiccup yet. I was sick of my plastic crap stapler I inherited in the office, it jammed every other time I used it and I was just waiting for someone to swipe it off my desk so I could get a new one. I got impatient, threw it away instead and looked this one up, best reviews by the most people, cheap AND it's just like Milton's. What's not to like?I did read about the one review that mentions the plastic piece on the inside that pretty much keeps the two halves of the stapler together. I checked it out and it does seem like a vital part of the mechanism and if it does break I'd be screwed. It does upset me that every other part seems to be made of metal, but it does work very well and doesn't seem like it will be breaking down anytime soon. So I rolled the dice and overall I'm glad I got an awesome looking stapler because it's going to be sitting on my desk, in my line of vision every day, I'm hoping as long as I don't man handle it I should keep together.

It works great. But, it is rather chunky to hold.
August 11, 2017
This stapler is truly "reduced effort". You don't need to press down too hard to staple things. And it is fairly quiet, which is nice. It does NOT make a loud snapping noise like my other low-effort stapler makes. Here is the only "negative": It is rather chunky. I am a man with medium-sized hands. When I grab this stapler so that I can staple something, it fills up my hand completely. If you have smallish hands, this stapler will not be easy to hold while stapling. But, if you leave the stapler on a table, it will work just fine. For those with small hands, I believe that you can buy a smaller version of this stapler that might fit your hands better.
good stapler
June 4, 2017
I purchased this stapler as a replacement for a prior stapler I had which was all metal and broke into 2 pieces. This stapler is perfect and is so straightforward and easy to use. The only problem I have with it is that it will not open up to be flat so that I can staple something to the wall but other than this minor issue, this is a good stapler for papers. Thanks for reading my review and if it was helpful to you, let me know by hitting the ‘yes’ button below my review. If it did not help you, feel free to leave a comment and I will try to answer any further questions you may have about the product.
Works great, but I had to fix a problem
January 30, 2017
This stapler worked great for the first year, but at some point part of the metal where the staples are dispensed got bent. This prevented the staples from coming out. After some effort I bent the metal back and got the stapler working great again, but I shouldn't have needed to fix it in the first place. Regardless, I would still recommend this as it is inexpensive and works well.
Good stapler.. better than the cheap ones
January 8, 2016
Nice stapler. It is not jam free. My 4 year old messed with it and it took me a while to get some stuck stapler out.. I have no idea how he managed to do that but it happened quickly. But it staples pretty well.. haven't tested it out on 20 sheets. It's huge compared to the cheap old one, taking up a lot more room in my desk drawer.. but my old one kept jamming and couldn't staple more than 6 pages, it was time to move on and upgrade. Underneath there is a slight indent for 'comfort hold' and it is all rubber so if on desk it will not slide around. Rubber grip on top too.
Excellent desktop stapler!
May 21, 2015
Great desktop stapler for those who don't have a lot of hand strength like me. No hard jolt when you staple a document period. It staples a lot of pages without a problem. Best one I have found and I have tried many over the years. I recently bought several of these for my office to replace standard staplers for staff. We are an accounting firm and we staple papers a whole lot. This one really lasts and is worth the purchase price.
My New Favourite Office Toy
March 25, 2015
This is easily the coolest stapler I have ever owned. I bought one for home and loved it so much I ordered another (in blue) for work, where, as a teacher, I do much more stapling. It's so smoothly functioning that it's a delight to use. The staples are always neatly folded and I've never had it jam up on me. The compound design gives it extra bite with a minimum amount of finger force. It is, however, not completely without CONS. Most staples will allow the bottom to fold out flat so that you can staple onto a cork wall or another flat surface. This one doesn't, so you won't be stapling anything that doesn't fit metal bottom and staple housing. I've also seen staplers that have staple removers attached to the bottom or back. The LightTouch has no such extras. To sum it up: a fantastic and innovative little machine, but its functions are limited to stapling paper.

... silver plate on the top of the stapler is poor clamped/looks trashy
June 26, 2017
I was hoping for a sleek stapler but the "Swingline" silver plate on the top of the stapler is poor clamped/looks trashy.Sure it is "funny" to have one that is similar to the one in Office Space, but I regret my purchase due to the shoddy nature of how it actually looks in person.
Looks good, not well made.
March 24, 2017
Loved it when I first got it.Had one really bad jam that required a little surgery, but that was fine. However, since, the main spring has stretched to the point that the stapler is unusable. I'll likely buy a replacement spring and fix it myself because I do like the look of the product, but I would by no means call it well made or reliable.
Pretty but...
September 17, 2016
This is a beautiful stapler. That being said It's more of a paperweight than a stapler at this point. Basically you have to hit the top hard to get it to staple. When working in a quiet office it's somewhat distracting to be slamming down on metal every time I need to staple. I ended up purchasing a different one.
Received scratched product
September 5, 2016
It seems sturdy. Just disappointed that the package cover was dented and when I opened it I noticed a scratch on the red paint on the side of it which makes it look used. If I'm going to pay for an item, I would expect for it to be in new condition.
I wanted a nice solid, metal constructed stapler
April 14, 2016
I wanted a nice solid, metal constructed stapler. This is good... but it wobbles. It's almost as if the chrome finish made it ever so thicker that the bottom rubber insert cannot set into the right place. The black version of this stapler, on the other hand, is near perfect.
Looks great but...
January 12, 2016
I love Swingline and HAD to have this red stapler after watching "The Office." Unfortunately it permanently jammed after only one year.

It won't be good for stapling in hand if you have smaller hands
February 18, 2017
Taller than the classic full size Swingline stapler and only slightly less effort and noise. It won't be good for stapling in hand if you have smaller hands, which I do. Maybe for a full 25 sheet stack you could feel a difference. Still like my old classic metal Swingline.
Wore out after 2 years.
June 6, 2016
I really like this stapler over the legacy design. I now have five at my center. No one jammed amongst them. Each one probably stapes at least hundred times a day. The description "LightTouch" is truly accurate. It makes stapling a breeze. Buy it over the other design and you will never look back.***************************************Update: 09/23/2017Two of the three I purchased are broken at the return spring. The metal that acts like a spring to lift the arm of the stapler. It cracks where it is attached at the base of the stapler. Based on its design, its logical to crack at that location. Got two years of every weekday use out of it. Is it worth it? Its for you to decide. These never jammed in two years. Once the spring give out I had to throw them away because they are too irritating to use afterward.
probably received a defective unit
September 12, 2015
opened the upper arm to reveal the loading mechanism, loaded the staples and found unable to close it down. Something was stuck around the pivot. If this requires special handling perhaps can use a manual somewhere but none was found in the package. After applying force to close, the plastic part at the rear end of the stapler broke and shed small plastic debris. Now working but opening and closing always involve unusual level of resistance. Suspect defective unit. Not worth my time to return and replace.

good stapler, but the staple holder (metalic part) and the plastic top don't stay closed....hard to explain, but it looks/feels like there is something off about the stapler. and it's very plastic-y. i'm not sure i would buy this again
not bad
April 13, 2014
It is easier than a regular stapler but not 50% easier. I bought it for one of my offices. Coordinator was complaining. She staples lots of stuff and would like something easier. I will probably buy an electric stapler. This one just didn't quite do it.
Great for paper, does NOT open
September 22, 2013
I bought this stapler for my classroom use, and it works great for stapling paper. But when I tried it for my bulletin board I found that it does not open. I just saw on another review that another customer had the same problem, next time I will know to read more reviews before ordering. It should read that it does not open in the detail section of the stapler.

Not the quality I expected.
September 7, 2017
I love the look and feel of the stapler but it failed in less than two months of infrequent use. Specifically, staples get jammed at the front business end and even after yanking the bent staples out with pliers, the stapler does not work. I cannot unjam it long enough for it to work at all.
Not for heavy use.
June 12, 2017
Purchased one 9 months ago to be used at a restaurant to staple receipts. It recently failed. It started getting staples stuck inside the feeder, by the opening where they come out. Always used swingline staples.
Looks good but quality control lacks.
June 6, 2015
I purchased this because of the other reviews. I had to wait a couple of months for it to be back in stock. It looks really nice but the part where the staple comes out does not line up with the receptical so the staples smash instead of curling like they should. I usually have to staple 2-3 times to get it to work. I don't know if this is a quality control issue or happens regularly but I ended up giving it away.
Overrated Stapler
May 13, 2015
I'm not sure why this stapler gets such high review. I found that it often doesn't staple all the way through stacks of five pages or thicker, which really shouldn't be a difficult task for a commercial stapler. You really have to slam the stapler pretty hard to get it through. These aren't heavy duty pieces of paper either, just regular copy paper for a laser printer.I'm using the staples specifically recommended by the manufacturer, so that isn't the problem.
This red Swingline stapler is a dull pink stapler that has clearly been sitting in the sun for a very long time.
April 21, 2015
The reason most people would buy a red Swingline Stapler is because of the movie Office Space. That's why I bought it. That was also the intent of the seller/manufacturer. After all, it was sent in clear plastic packaging with the Horrible Bosses movie logo. Everybody is in on the joke. I bought the stapler for a friend who was recently moved into the absolute worst cubical at work. I was disappointed to find that my red Swingline stapler is not red at all. It's dull pink. It is very obvious that before this stapler got to me, it was sitting on a shelf in direct sunlight for a very, very long time. While the whole stapler is a dull pink, the bottom edges are even more faded. There is a very clear, easy to notice gradient from dull pink to very pale pink.So my friend's pink Swingline stapler is on his desk this morning and really, truly it looks like it has been sitting there for years. I am giving this product two stars because it completely misses the whole point of the novelty that it is.
wobbles
February 5, 2014
it's pretty but doesn't sit flat on desk... it wobbles back and forth. rubber base does not fit well and serveral of the connection points are very loose. if you take the rubber base off it seems to sit flat, but with the base attached it wobbles. no obvious place where its bulging. the swingline crest on top looks kind of cheap. awaiting replacement. we'll see.

Great Idea, Poor Execution
August 7, 2015
I like these light touch staplers, but this one fell apart after relatively light use. Very frustrating. I didn't get my money's worth out of it.
Great... while it worked.
November 21, 2014
I really liked this stapler while it worked: it really is reduced effort and even quieter than a standard stapler. But I bought it in February and it broke in November - I know, it's not super expensive, but is a year's worth of not-especially-heavy use too much to ask?
Very Disapointed in Swingline
April 6, 2014
The construction is very sub-par. The last Swingline I purchased was in 1984. It's still working. I gave it to my son. This one, I wouldn't give to anybody. Cheap, flimsy plastic construction. When you pick it up by the top handle, it opens and frequently spills out all your staples. Pick something else.

What a piece of garbage. The only stapler we EVER bought that broke. The stapler looks nice, but stay away from this thing - the interior workings are the cheapest of stamped metal. When it broke and we looked inside to see what was wrong, we could not believe what junk this thing was inside.Swingline should be humiliated releasing a product this crappy.

May 17, 2017
I've only had it since November and use it maybe once a week for light stapling. It jammed on me 3 times. I took it apart and fixed the jam and it still doesn't work. Yes, I use Swingline staples.
Garbage
March 23, 2017
This stapler is total garbage. Right out of the box I loaded it with the EXACT STAPLES IT CALLED for. It jammed immediately and then the metal plate that pushes into the staples dislodged. It is going back and I think I am done with Swingline. Do Not waste your money on this thing.
Don't buy this stapler
December 14, 2016
I bought this to replace a defective stapler that I owned for over a decade. It's a Swingline, and I used Swingline SF-1 staples, but for some reason they don't move forward in the queue. I had to push the staples with a pencil to move them forward each time I used one, which got old, to say the least. Pushing the staples forward worked for two months, and today the staples just jammed. I am very angry with this purchase. I can't recommend it to anyone. It worked for about two weeks, then nothing but problems. I only wish I hadn't suffered with it for so long, because I could have returned it. Now it's too late.
Poor Quality - don't bother
December 9, 2016
Worked well for about a month. :( Now it's a piece of garbage. Jams every time, when I un-jam it, it just jams again. Upon inspection, it appears the little metal square that holds the staples steady is flimsy and is easily bent. We literally stapled with it, maybe, 12 times and it's now inoperable. And of course this happened exactly 30 days after purchase, and the return window is closed. :(Into the trash.
Useless - Don't buy unless you just want a paperweight
October 29, 2016
This stapler looked great when taken out of the box and I was excited to get it, but functionally it didn't work, AT ALL. Every time I tried to put staples in the spring had such strong tension it would either shoot them out or mangle them in such a way that it caused a jam. In short, the stapler just kept getting jammed and wouldn't work for it's intended purpose. Back to my (reliable) Dollar Tree stapler I go. In the trash this item went.

Jammed first use and limited access to clear jams turned my stapler into a paper weight.
August 16, 2017
I purchased this stapler after reading the good reviews. It sounded great, was made by Swingline, what could go wrong? It jammed the first time we tried to use it, despite using swingline staples, and because the stapler doesn't open flat there is no way to access the stuck staple because we can't get it free from either side or top.In short, we paid more than other staplers cost and never once was able to use it. Unfortunately didn't need to staple anything for a couple weeks and we just past the return window. I know now to test even simple things like staplers as soon as they arrive.
Defective Stapler - Worked Terribly
March 2, 2017
I got a dud. Loaded it with Classroom Select Chisel Pointed Standard Staples #59959. The first push worked, but the next four jammed. I tried School Smart staples with slightly better results. The top could not seem to press down far enough to make the staples work. It was usually very close but wouldn't work.
planned obsolescence
March 31, 2016
This broke as soon as I opened it. It broke from the back which was a piece that was barely together by a thin piece of plastic. Everything else seems sturdy but that back cover is a flimsy plastic piece just on by a fragile piece of plastic. I think this was designed to fail from there because the rest seems very sturdy
A piece of junk stapler from the company that's been making staplers for 100 years.
August 11, 2015
Thought my choice for a stapler would be a no-brainer if I went with Swingline (you know, that company that only makes staplers and staples). This is without a doubt the worst purchase I have ever made for the office. Frequent misfires and jamming. A 10 dollar item that is constantly slowing down my staff, who woulda' thought?Avoid.
Don't Bother
January 28, 2014
I bought 2 of these- one for work and 1 for home (after reading a million reviews on how great they were) and both of them have already stopped working. At first they were great, but after about a month, they needed attention (open it up, play with the staples) about every 3 times. Now I can't get either of them to work at all. I even bought different staples thinking it might be that. No use.
Worst stapler I have ever used
November 9, 2013
This jammed immediately, and I could not get it to close no matter how hard I tried. Attempting to staple with it got me bleeding fingers and closed staples that clogged up the exit mechanism were impossible to use, thereby rendering it useless within minutes of buying it.
