Five Star Reviews: | 75% Requires only a soft touch May 12, 2017 This replaced my very old swingline desk stapler and it is SO much easier to use. I used to have to smack the top of old stapler with my hand and this new one is so easy, I can even use it by just holding it in my hand rather than on the desk top. I am using it with the Optima premium staples and so far have had no problems at all. Works well and requires very little effort. May 20, 2016 I was looking for an easy-touch stapler that didn't cause stress on my wrist and hand when stapling and that didn't cost a fortune. This stapler fit the bill. The stapler works well and requires very little effort. And it actually staples 20 sheets of a paper as stated. My old stapler couldn't get through 10 sheets without jamming up or bending the staples. I do wish the stapler was just a bit smaller so it would be easier to grip (it's a rather larger staples), but it works very easily. I am happy with the ease and the cost. *Note* It is not an effortless stapler, it is a "reduced effort stapler" January 24, 2016 I used to use your typical black, metal stapler that takes a lot of clamping force. It wasn't that big of a deal though since I had not been doing any mass-stapling. However, recently my work has required me to do a lot more stapling, and the normal stapler was just not cutting it anymore. It made my hand ache and it jammed every so often. I've seen light touch staplers before in classrooms before where you could push down with one finger and was hoping that this stapler was one of those. Although it still requires more force than one of the aforementioned staplers, it is still very little and doesn't wear down my hand at all. Its about $9 cheaper than an actual one finger stapler, but I'm completely contempt with this "reduced effort" stapler vs my old one. Smooth operator. August 26, 2014 This is the smoothest operating stapler I have ever owned. I have only had it a few weeks and if it holds up for a while I will eventually replace all the staplers in my house with this easy to use, non-jamming stapler. Small but Mighty Handheld Stapler August 10, 2014 This new little handheld stapler works even better than my old standard-size Swingline stapler I had for many years. It takes the same size staples as the old one but only uses a half strip at a time.It takes up less space and takes less force to use. It's very comfortable to hold. It's quieter than the big one and looks nice too. It can staple up to 20 sheets at a time. I think it's a great improvement in design. Works very well, but don't get too excited. It's still only a stapler. March 18, 2010 Well, there is not much too say about this item. It's a stapler and it staples. It has a fairly small footprint compared to my original Swingline stapler, which is similar to the Swingline Commercial Desk Stapler (S7044401A).The "light touch" design works as described. It takes about the same amount of effort to staple 20 sheets of paper as it does to staple 2 sheets. I haven't had any issues stapling 20 or so sheets of paper, though the staples do start to bend if I go too much higher than that. However, 20 sheets is the stated capacity of this stapler, so I can't complain about that.It is a compact stapler, so it only takes half strips of staples. So, unless you buy half strips, you will have break all of your existing strips in half so they fit. I don't use a lot of staples in a given day, so this is not an issue for me. However, Swingline does make a full-size version, if you would prefer more capacity (or breaking the strips is just annoying to you).(Swingline PowerEase Reduced Effort Charcoal Stapler (S7087860))In summary, it's a nice little stapler and the reduced effort design performs as described. I definitely prefer this stapler over my others, which is why I purchased two of them (one for home and one for work). However, it is still just a stapler, so I've probably already written too much about it. | 75% Heavy and sharp enough to do the job September 13, 2017 I wanted a double roll dispenser like I purchased here 4 years ago since there are jobs for which a re-positionable (aka Magic) tape is better. I settled for this model for my computer desk drawer since I use tape more in the kitchen where I keep my larger, heavier Officemate OIC Recycled 2-In-1 Heavy Duty Tape Dispenser, Black (96690) that holds wider tape for sealing packages along with a narrower tape that's good for attaching return labels.I looked for a desk model because of my continuing frustration using two older specialty plastic hand-held dispensers with tape that is obviously lighter in weight today than the "Scotch tape" I grew up using. Lighter weight tape is especially frustrating in the winter when static can grab and fold it back on itself. But what is completely "crazy-making" is to have a length meant to tape down the longer side of an Amazon return label twist instead of tearing off cleanly and leaving me with that twisted length, plus a few more inches, stuck to my hand. For that very reason I do not buy "bargain" tape, so it's doubly disappointing when I end up with tape stuck to my fingers. This dispenser's metal "teeth" keep the tape from twisting and sticking to the wrong target; and its weight is heavy enough to keep it from sliding should I have it on top of my desk instead of down in the drawer with invoices and such. So I feel confident in recommending it. Just be sure to fully press the roll down into the dispenser to keep it from lifting when you begin to tear off tape. Looks classy and functions extremely well. July 22, 2017 I have many different tape dispensers in my studio for art and craft work for a variety of tapes and adhesives. I try to find dispensers that are sturdy (so they don't wobble when you're ripping off the tape) and yet with clean lines. Love the look and function of this one. It's also a bit more compact than other Scotch dispensers and easy to clean. Now, THIS Is a Great Tape Dispenser! May 25, 2017 I bought this dispenser recently and wasn't sure how much I'd like it. I was pleasantly surprised and it has become my favorite dispenser---I just may buy more to replace my older ones! This has a piece that pulls up and you can put your tape in it, then snap it down. So much better than the older versions I have that have a little circular piece that slides into the hole in the roll of tape, then it slides into the dispenser base. I found that the little circular piece that goes into the roll often dropped and rolled across the floor before I could get it into the tape roll, and I'd have to chase it down. That can't happen with this dispenser---well-thought out construction! This is a great purchase and I highly recommend it to all! Perfect May 17, 2017 Beautiful, sturdy, inner roll holder attached,so will not get lost. Very good deal, and finally will make it harder for u to misplace the roll of tape. I have probably spent an entire days worth of hours, during the last 52 years, searching for the misplaced tape roll! Good basic dispenser April 19, 2017 Unlike previous tape dispenser, this one does not seem to be filled with sand to weigh it down. This is a positive for me, as my previous one constantly leaked sand. Also, the part that goes in the center of a tape roll is not as easily lost with the design on this one. It is very easy to cut with only one hand April 11, 2017 I bought this dispenser for my 4 year old, it really encourages him to do so many projects. Now everyone in the familynot only refuse to use tape without this dispenser, we bought a few more for all the places we go. It is very easy to cut with only one hand, and the base is heavy enough for it not to move when cutting. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 11% It works great. But, it is rather chunky to hold. August 11, 2017 This stapler is truly "reduced effort". You don't need to press down too hard to staple things. And it is fairly quiet, which is nice. It does NOT make a loud snapping noise like my other low-effort stapler makes. Here is the only "negative": It is rather chunky. I am a man with medium-sized hands. When I grab this stapler so that I can staple something, it fills up my hand completely. If you have smallish hands, this stapler will not be easy to hold while stapling. But, if you leave the stapler on a table, it will work just fine. For those with small hands, I believe that you can buy a smaller version of this stapler that might fit your hands better. good stapler June 4, 2017 I purchased this stapler as a replacement for a prior stapler I had which was all metal and broke into 2 pieces. This stapler is perfect and is so straightforward and easy to use. The only problem I have with it is that it will not open up to be flat so that I can staple something to the wall but other than this minor issue, this is a good stapler for papers. Thanks for reading my review and if it was helpful to you, let me know by hitting the ‘yes’ button below my review. If it did not help you, feel free to leave a comment and I will try to answer any further questions you may have about the product. Works great, but I had to fix a problem January 30, 2017 This stapler worked great for the first year, but at some point part of the metal where the staples are dispensed got bent. This prevented the staples from coming out. After some effort I bent the metal back and got the stapler working great again, but I shouldn't have needed to fix it in the first place. Regardless, I would still recommend this as it is inexpensive and works well. Good stapler.. better than the cheap ones January 8, 2016 Nice stapler. It is not jam free. My 4 year old messed with it and it took me a while to get some stuck stapler out.. I have no idea how he managed to do that but it happened quickly. But it staples pretty well.. haven't tested it out on 20 sheets. It's huge compared to the cheap old one, taking up a lot more room in my desk drawer.. but my old one kept jamming and couldn't staple more than 6 pages, it was time to move on and upgrade. Underneath there is a slight indent for 'comfort hold' and it is all rubber so if on desk it will not slide around. Rubber grip on top too. Excellent desktop stapler! May 21, 2015 Great desktop stapler for those who don't have a lot of hand strength like me. No hard jolt when you staple a document period. It staples a lot of pages without a problem. Best one I have found and I have tried many over the years. I recently bought several of these for my office to replace standard staplers for staff. We are an accounting firm and we staple papers a whole lot. This one really lasts and is worth the purchase price. My New Favourite Office Toy March 25, 2015 This is easily the coolest stapler I have ever owned. I bought one for home and loved it so much I ordered another (in blue) for work, where, as a teacher, I do much more stapling. It's so smoothly functioning that it's a delight to use. The staples are always neatly folded and I've never had it jam up on me. The compound design gives it extra bite with a minimum amount of finger force. It is, however, not completely without CONS. Most staples will allow the bottom to fold out flat so that you can staple onto a cork wall or another flat surface. This one doesn't, so you won't be stapling anything that doesn't fit metal bottom and staple housing. I've also seen staplers that have staple removers attached to the bottom or back. The LightTouch has no such extras. To sum it up: a fantastic and innovative little machine, but its functions are limited to stapling paper. | 15% Good Value for the Money - But Rear Lifts Up a Bit When Used with One Hand May 18, 2017 This is a very good value for the money. It is weighted, has a skid-resistant bottom, with two skid-resistant pads glued to the bottom, cuts tape pretty easily, and has room to hold a 1,500 inch roll of Scotch tape (according to the manufacturer. I've been using 1,000 inch rolls), either 1/2" or 3/4" wide. When I use one hand to tear off the tape, the back of the dispenser does lift off the desk a bit, however, about 1/2 inch or so, but I can still tear the tape using one hand only with the other hand free. The skid resistant pads on the bottom do prevent the dispenser from sliding horizontally.Given above, this dispenser could benefit from being weighted a bit more heavily, but this tape dispenser offers good value for the money given how inexpensive it is, and the fact that the rear of the dispenser sometimes lifts off the desk a bit when I use one hand doesn't bother me that much, given what I paid. For the price, this dispenser meets my needs and offers good value. Before buying this from Amazon, I went to a brick and mortar big box store to take a look at the tape dispensers they had in stock in this price range. Of these dispensers, this was the heaviest and appeared to have the best cutter. One advantage of buying your own tape dispenser is that you can save a lot on the Scotch tape itself. For about $10.00 on Amazon, I was able to buy 6 rolls of tape, each roll being 1,000 inches, or a total of 6,000 inches of tape - far less than buying the same amount of tape that come with the cheap, throwaway dispensers.A nice feature is that the center core that you place a new roll of tape over is built into the dispenser via a hinged mechanism. You will never lose this part by throwing away a used roll of tape with the core still attached.Additional and revised comments:After buying this, I noticed that on Amazon, there is a model C-40 tape dispenser that is listed at 1.6 pounds as opposed to the .99 pounds of the C-60. However, the C-40 costs almost twice as much. If the weight listed on Amazon for the C-40 model is correct, I probably would have bought that model instead, but if you don’t want to pay twice the price, this dispenser will meet the needs of most users.https://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Deluxe-Desktop-Dispenser-C-40/dp/B00006IF6W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495468879&sr=8-1&keywords=tape+dispenser+c-40 Stylish Looking Despenser January 17, 2017 Looking for a stylish tape dispenser for my desk. This one fit the bill. Looks great. The only issue I have with it is that it is a little bit too light and moves when pulling longer pieces of tape off the despenser. Otherwise, good purchase. Good Home/Office Product November 6, 2016 Just received my Scotch C60-ST Tape Dispenser and so far like it, does not come tape. It is two tone: top curvy part is silver and the base is black.Looks quite decent and basic so goes with any office or home setting. Heavy duty with pads under base so it would slide all over the desk when pulling tape and had some weight to it (could also be used as a paper weight if wanted to). Blade are sharp enough to tear tape, box says should last for years(we will see). So far there is nothing I do not like about this product. This is a good tape dispenser June 22, 2016 This is a good tape dispenser. It isn't as heavy as I had hoped for, but it's heavy enough that it doesn't lift from the surface when you're dispensing tape. The teeth are sharp (I was worried about this after reading a previous review). There are no issues with the teeth not being sharp enough to cut through the tape. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. Serves its purpose at a reasonable cost. Nice April 20, 2016 Out of the box the dispenser has a sleek, pleasing shape and a satin silver-tone top for a sexy and curvy look on my desk. Loading tape is easy with a locking spool mechanism that certainly securely holds the tape roll in place during use. It is lightly weighted and has a grippy bottom to help keep it on my desk while cutting. Tape cut fairly easily. For under 10 bucks it’s now on my desk and I didn’t even have to go out! Nice dispenser overall November 1, 2015 Overall it does what it's supposed to do. As someone mentioned, it is light so if I am not careful ripping the tape, the dispensar moves and sometimes I accidentally run my diver or hand over the blade as I do this. The blade hasnt cut skin yet but this is scary at the moment it's happening. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 5% It won't be good for stapling in hand if you have smaller hands February 18, 2017 Taller than the classic full size Swingline stapler and only slightly less effort and noise. It won't be good for stapling in hand if you have smaller hands, which I do. Maybe for a full 25 sheet stack you could feel a difference. Still like my old classic metal Swingline. Wore out after 2 years. June 6, 2016 I really like this stapler over the legacy design. I now have five at my center. No one jammed amongst them. Each one probably stapes at least hundred times a day. The description "LightTouch" is truly accurate. It makes stapling a breeze. Buy it over the other design and you will never look back.***************************************Update: 09/23/2017Two of the three I purchased are broken at the return spring. The metal that acts like a spring to lift the arm of the stapler. It cracks where it is attached at the base of the stapler. Based on its design, its logical to crack at that location. Got two years of every weekday use out of it. Is it worth it? Its for you to decide. These never jammed in two years. Once the spring give out I had to throw them away because they are too irritating to use afterward. probably received a defective unit September 12, 2015 opened the upper arm to reveal the loading mechanism, loaded the staples and found unable to close it down. Something was stuck around the pivot. If this requires special handling perhaps can use a manual somewhere but none was found in the package. After applying force to close, the plastic part at the rear end of the stapler broke and shed small plastic debris. Now working but opening and closing always involve unusual level of resistance. Suspect defective unit. Not worth my time to return and replace. good stapler, but the staple holder (metalic part) and ... March 6, 2015 good stapler, but the staple holder (metalic part) and the plastic top don't stay closed....hard to explain, but it looks/feels like there is something off about the stapler. and it's very plastic-y. i'm not sure i would buy this again not bad April 13, 2014 It is easier than a regular stapler but not 50% easier. I bought it for one of my offices. Coordinator was complaining. She staples lots of stuff and would like something easier. I will probably buy an electric stapler. This one just didn't quite do it. Great for paper, does NOT open September 22, 2013 I bought this stapler for my classroom use, and it works great for stapling paper. But when I tried it for my bulletin board I found that it does not open. I just saw on another review that another customer had the same problem, next time I will know to read more reviews before ordering. It should read that it does not open in the detail section of the stapler. | 4% Tape doesn't cut easily, like other reviewer's have stated July 31, 2017 Tape doesn't cut easily, like other reviewer's have stated. Talk about cheap... June 6, 2017 The dispenser in and of its self is great, but it could of at least come with one roll of Scotch tape 😵. Ok January 18, 2017 I should have read the description closer. No tape included and I don't have a lot of confidence in the strength of the plastic that is attached to the base that holds the tape. Meh. Scuffs in the paint and a scratch or two. February 21, 2014 I am only giving this item three stars because it came with some scuffs in the paint and a minor scratch or two. The item ships in a thin cardboard box which sits inside a regular box. It looks like the box that it comes in rubbed off some of the paint (and not worth returning). I'm not sure if this happened during shipment (FedEx), or if it is a factory defect or what. I'm just stating my experience. Nothing was horribly wrong with it but it is enough to bother me, especially because this item is supposed to be new. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% I would not recommend purchasing it August 17, 2016 Used in the office for less than a month before it stop working, I would not recommend purchasing it. Quality isn't what it used to be. April 29, 2016 Hit or miss. I have one that lasted a couple of years, but this one only lasted a couple of months. Jams continually.... wish it were sturdier ... August 13, 2015 Jams continually....wish it were sturdier. Great Idea, Poor Execution August 7, 2015 I like these light touch staplers, but this one fell apart after relatively light use. Very frustrating. I didn't get my money's worth out of it. Great... while it worked. November 21, 2014 I really liked this stapler while it worked: it really is reduced effort and even quieter than a standard stapler. But I bought it in February and it broke in November - I know, it's not super expensive, but is a year's worth of not-especially-heavy use too much to ask? Very Disapointed in Swingline April 6, 2014 The construction is very sub-par. The last Swingline I purchased was in 1984. It's still working. I gave it to my son. This one, I wouldn't give to anybody. Cheap, flimsy plastic construction. When you pick it up by the top handle, it opens and frequently spills out all your staples. Pick something else. | 2% Hard to tear tape off, leaks sand. October 21, 2017 This tape dispenser is very hard to use, I have to use a lot of force to cut the piece of tape, unless I pick it up with both hands, angle it down-wards and then the tape tears better. The drawback of this method though, is sand will come spilling out. When I first opened my package, there was sand stuck in the crevices of this tape dispenser. NO WHERE did I read it had sand in it. I will end up donating it and trying to find another that is not filled with sand...until then, it's better than no dispenser. Wish I had bought a different one! Design is Flawed! September 2, 2017 Design is flawed, when you pull the tape the "whole roll" lifts up. Makes it not very sturdy, and hard to use. It is a nice idea though! The part that holds the tape needs to "click" in place or something. Tape holder were just fine when they were heavy and simply had a slot ... July 17, 2017 Why do they have to change things. 1) the item is to light and slides when you pull the tape. 2) the tape is held in this flop up thing that flops up when you pull the tape. Tape holder were just fine when they were heavy and simply had a slot with a roller to hold the tape. It works, that is about all I can say about it. Not heavy enough August 6, 2016 I was looking for a dispenser that wouldn't move and lift when one tried to dispense and cut scotch tape...this is not the one! It looks good and functions, just not heavy enough. Borderline Useless August 14, 2015 Rarely do I give any products 1 or 2 stars unless they have completely failed.Well, after one year, this tape dispenser is going into the trash. Dispensing tape should be fairly simple, right? This unit is too light, you can not tear off a 1" or 2" strip of tape without lifting the dispenser off of the table. (I only use 3/4" Scotch brand magic tape, FWIW). So having had to fight this unit with both hands any time I wanted a small strip of tape, now it has gotten worse. The chrome serrated strip has such a thin and crummy finish it has totally corroded (turned black). The serrated strip has to tear the tape, but also needs to hold the end of the tape for the next time. The black corroded serrated strip now lets go of the tape within seconds of tearing off the previous strip, and I'm fishing for the end of the tape down inside the dispenser. Only two things this thing needs to do and it can't do either one. Looked nice when it was new but functionally it is lame. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 7% Jammed first use and limited access to clear jams turned my stapler into a paper weight. August 16, 2017 I purchased this stapler after reading the good reviews. It sounded great, was made by Swingline, what could go wrong? It jammed the first time we tried to use it, despite using swingline staples, and because the stapler doesn't open flat there is no way to access the stuck staple because we can't get it free from either side or top.In short, we paid more than other staplers cost and never once was able to use it. Unfortunately didn't need to staple anything for a couple weeks and we just past the return window. I know now to test even simple things like staplers as soon as they arrive. Defective Stapler - Worked Terribly March 2, 2017 I got a dud. Loaded it with Classroom Select Chisel Pointed Standard Staples #59959. The first push worked, but the next four jammed. I tried School Smart staples with slightly better results. The top could not seem to press down far enough to make the staples work. It was usually very close but wouldn't work. planned obsolescence March 31, 2016 This broke as soon as I opened it. It broke from the back which was a piece that was barely together by a thin piece of plastic. Everything else seems sturdy but that back cover is a flimsy plastic piece just on by a fragile piece of plastic. I think this was designed to fail from there because the rest seems very sturdy A piece of junk stapler from the company that's been making staplers for 100 years. August 11, 2015 Thought my choice for a stapler would be a no-brainer if I went with Swingline (you know, that company that only makes staplers and staples). This is without a doubt the worst purchase I have ever made for the office. Frequent misfires and jamming. A 10 dollar item that is constantly slowing down my staff, who woulda' thought?Avoid. Don't Bother January 28, 2014 I bought 2 of these- one for work and 1 for home (after reading a million reviews on how great they were) and both of them have already stopped working. At first they were great, but after about a month, they needed attention (open it up, play with the staples) about every 3 times. Now I can't get either of them to work at all. I even bought different staples thinking it might be that. No use. Worst stapler I have ever used November 9, 2013 This jammed immediately, and I could not get it to close no matter how hard I tried. Attempting to staple with it got me bleeding fingers and closed staples that clogged up the exit mechanism were impossible to use, thereby rendering it useless within minutes of buying it. | 4% Don't waist your time with this POS. I ordered ... October 26, 2017 Don't waist your time with this POS. I ordered one to replace one I've had for a very long time. This unit did not have enough padding across the bottom to hold it in place when dispensing Scotch Brand tape. Because of the smaller footprint and padding on the bottom that does not cover the entire bottom of the dispenser, the dispenser wobbles when you touch it...then slides as you pull the tape. Very frustrating...and it was an "Amazon Choice"???? When you pull the tape it pulls up in the ... October 11, 2017 When you pull the tape it pulls up in the back and it is difficult to get the correct angle to cut the tape. It is not sharp enough. It has been frustrating. I am looking for a new one right after I post this review. it was leaking a fine sand. At first I thought it may just ... August 31, 2017 Before I took this tape dispenser out of its box that it came in, it was leaking a fine sand. At first I thought it may just be some dust or manufacturing residuals. However, once I removed the dispenser from the box, it sat in a loosely wrapped plastic bag, filled with fine sand. I had to proceed to dump out all of the sand that is used to give the product weight for tearing tape. Long story short, poorly designed and manufactured, may just be a fluke but, definitely dissatisfied, spend your money on another tape dispenser. Not what they used to be. June 16, 2017 Way too light. Better off buying the little throw away dispenser rolls. Either way you need both hands to use them and at least the little ones aren't too bulky to hold. Too light. November 3, 2014 Too light. Keeps on skidding across the desk. Need two hands for operation.
