... true of teachers for decades and this stapler doesn't disappoint. Its sturdy and solid and flowers really smoothly
August 13, 2016
Finally got tired of owning cheap staplers so got the tried and true of teachers for decades and this stapler doesn't disappoint. Its sturdy and solid and flowers really smoothly. I also got the recommended swingline premium staples and it's a perfect combo. I don't pay too much attention to the easy of stapling but we've all had or used a stapler that just sucks and this one is not that. I don't foresee any issues
You Took My Stapler...
July 16, 2016
Standard classic quality constructed stapler. This thing will withstand the next five generations. Not only can this be used to staple up to 20 pages at once, but you can also use it as a sturdy self-defense weapon against the hordes of zombies breaking down your door during that ill fated summer 2021.If it came in red, I'd be super duper happy. Hell, I'd even move down to the basement.
Great Quality for the Price!
March 8, 2016
I've been using a similar stapler for years and it was finally time to replace that one. This stapler works very well - I regularly staple 10+ pages together and it definitely stands up to that test! I would consider myself a heavy stapler, using it in multiple sessions throughout the day. This stapler is solid enough to withstand that use. And really, if it's a Swingline, you know it's going to be good!I believe the product description recommends that you only use Swingline brand staples, but I have regularly used this stapler with off-brand staples (whatever's cheapest on Amazon when I order them for work) and have not had much problem. It can occasionally be fussy if you're near the end of the strip of staples, but I've had that problem with other staplers, too.
Great stapler.
October 10, 2015
I'm fairly certain that the 1 star reviews on this product are operator error.I have run a whole rail of STAPLES brand standard 1/4 staples through this stapler since I bought it and have had no jams, binds, etc. I've stapled as little as 2 sheets together and as many as 15, and every time it was smooth as butter.I did not experience the "not closing the staples correctly on smaller stacks of paper" issue. This stapler is comfortable, efficient, and effective. It works nicely both flat on your desk as well as being held in your hand. I would gladly recommend this product for anyone who uses a stapler on a daily basis. Even if you just have occasional stapling needs, the difference in quality and comfort between this and a dollar store product is well worth the price difference.
The Best Quality Stapler Out There
July 22, 2015
I've had the same stapler in my office for a century or so, and I thought it was time for an upgrade. So, I bought the top of the line, Swingline. It's a lot heavier than I remember from my employment days, but it sure does make a perfectly flat staple. A lot of staplers don't flatten the staple so it doesn't fit loosely on the page. I always have to pull those out and staple again with a lot more pressure. But this guy doesn't mess around. With normal pressure ... it's BAM, BAM, I GOT 'ER DONE FOR YOU, HOW DO 'YA LIKE ME NOW? And I say, I like you a lot big guy!
Not all staplers are created equal!
April 21, 2011
I used to work in an office where everything they bought was the cheapest available. Notable among these items were the staplers. We probably spent $1000./yr. in labor unjamming cheap staplers in order to save $100. buying them! That is why I bought this GOOD Swingline Commercial model. It will staple anything you would normally want to staple, probably will do up to at least 10 pages thick. One thing I do with it is to staple coin flips, the cardboard holders for collectable coins, it does this well, and some cheaper models will not. However, that is not the reason I bought this particular stapler-the primary reason is because of reliablity. It never jams, never fails to work properly, within what are its reasonable limits. If you are going to bind thick folders, then you need a stapler for 1/2" staples, as opposed to an ordinary desk stapler. Note that Swingline makes two similar looking models, this one is a couple of bucks more than the other one, but for normal volume of use in a home environment, it should last a lifetime. Even in an office, you can probably expect quite a few years out of one of these. BTW-Do not permit anyone using any stapler to bang on it like they are trying to drive it through the desk. You don't have to treat one of these as fragile, but you don't need to act like John Henry driving a railroad spike, either.

Heavy and sharp enough to do the job
September 13, 2017
I wanted a double roll dispenser like I purchased here 4 years ago since there are jobs for which a re-positionable (aka Magic) tape is better. I settled for this model for my computer desk drawer since I use tape more in the kitchen where I keep my larger, heavier Officemate OIC Recycled 2-In-1 Heavy Duty Tape Dispenser, Black (96690) that holds wider tape for sealing packages along with a narrower tape that's good for attaching return labels.I looked for a desk model because of my continuing frustration using two older specialty plastic hand-held dispensers with tape that is obviously lighter in weight today than the "Scotch tape" I grew up using. Lighter weight tape is especially frustrating in the winter when static can grab and fold it back on itself. But what is completely "crazy-making" is to have a length meant to tape down the longer side of an Amazon return label twist instead of tearing off cleanly and leaving me with that twisted length, plus a few more inches, stuck to my hand. For that very reason I do not buy "bargain" tape, so it's doubly disappointing when I end up with tape stuck to my fingers. This dispenser's metal "teeth" keep the tape from twisting and sticking to the wrong target; and its weight is heavy enough to keep it from sliding should I have it on top of my desk instead of down in the drawer with invoices and such. So I feel confident in recommending it. Just be sure to fully press the roll down into the dispenser to keep it from lifting when you begin to tear off tape.
Looks classy and functions extremely well.
July 22, 2017
I have many different tape dispensers in my studio for art and craft work for a variety of tapes and adhesives. I try to find dispensers that are sturdy (so they don't wobble when you're ripping off the tape) and yet with clean lines. Love the look and function of this one. It's also a bit more compact than other Scotch dispensers and easy to clean.
Now, THIS Is a Great Tape Dispenser!
May 25, 2017
I bought this dispenser recently and wasn't sure how much I'd like it. I was pleasantly surprised and it has become my favorite dispenser---I just may buy more to replace my older ones! This has a piece that pulls up and you can put your tape in it, then snap it down. So much better than the older versions I have that have a little circular piece that slides into the hole in the roll of tape, then it slides into the dispenser base. I found that the little circular piece that goes into the roll often dropped and rolled across the floor before I could get it into the tape roll, and I'd have to chase it down. That can't happen with this dispenser---well-thought out construction! This is a great purchase and I highly recommend it to all!
Perfect
May 17, 2017
Beautiful, sturdy, inner roll holder attached,so will not get lost. Very good deal, and finally will make it harder for u to misplace the roll of tape. I have probably spent an entire days worth of hours, during the last 52 years, searching for the misplaced tape roll!
Good basic dispenser
April 19, 2017
Unlike previous tape dispenser, this one does not seem to be filled with sand to weigh it down. This is a positive for me, as my previous one constantly leaked sand. Also, the part that goes in the center of a tape roll is not as easily lost with the design on this one.
It is very easy to cut with only one hand
April 11, 2017
I bought this dispenser for my 4 year old, it really encourages him to do so many projects. Now everyone in the familynot only refuse to use tape without this dispenser, we bought a few more for all the places we go. It is very easy to cut with only one hand, and the base is heavy enough for it not to move when cutting.

Good stapler!
September 1, 2017
Finally found one that does not jam every five minutes. Looks like this one wants to work. Full size, holds a full row of staples at a time.Use Swingline S. F.4 staples in it.
This is better then the old one it replaced
August 9, 2017
When considering other "more affordable options" I realized it would not be worth the headache. I bought this product instead and went with the guys that have been doing this for many years. This is better then the old one it replaced, it's smooth and basically effortless to staple. Also has a nicer finish then their old products.I’m rating a 4 star only because it did jam when I used a generic brand of staples, probably cheap but they work fine in all of our other staplers. After switching staples it’s been working flawlessly.
Metal!
May 10, 2017
Upon opening the box I realize this stapler was metal. The way things are built today that was a nice surprise. Testing the stapler without paper it jammed after the third staple through. Using the stapler to staple two sheets or more together I haven't had an issue with jamming. Overall a great quality product.
Works well!
December 3, 2016
I bought this stapler for my daughter who is studying to be a teacher and needed to staple papers for her students. I wanted a stapler that she would be able to keep for years to come and this seems to be a good choice. It is a nice heavy weight stapler and doesn't feel flimsy. She has only used it to staple a few sheets together so far but it works as it should every time, no jamming or wonky stapling!
Sturdy stapler
May 17, 2015
I bought this stapler 2 1/2 years ago for home use. I've never had an issue with it jamming. Even when my toddler gets his hands on it and stomps on it to staple his crayons. It's heavier than I thought it would be but that was a bonus. It feels substantial but it's not uncomfortably heavy to use with one hand repeatedly. It doesn't take much effort no matter how many or how little sheets I am stapling. Reloading staples is simple to do as it opens easily.
Well, it works!
August 15, 2013
What can you say about a stapler? It staples? Sure. This one staples. It does it without bending staples and clogging. It is easy to open and load and stays shut when you don't want it to open.It takes abuse such as putting 21 sheets under the arm when it is rated for up to 20 and you slamming your hand down to try to pierce and lock everything together. All in all it is a well-built and sturdy stapler. The only complaint I ever have a bout staplers is that no matter how long a one you buy, it always ends up that you need one that can reach about a half inch farther.

Good Value for the Money - But Rear Lifts Up a Bit When Used with One Hand
May 18, 2017
This is a very good value for the money. It is weighted, has a skid-resistant bottom, with two skid-resistant pads glued to the bottom, cuts tape pretty easily, and has room to hold a 1,500 inch roll of Scotch tape (according to the manufacturer. I've been using 1,000 inch rolls), either 1/2" or 3/4" wide. When I use one hand to tear off the tape, the back of the dispenser does lift off the desk a bit, however, about 1/2 inch or so, but I can still tear the tape using one hand only with the other hand free. The skid resistant pads on the bottom do prevent the dispenser from sliding horizontally.Given above, this dispenser could benefit from being weighted a bit more heavily, but this tape dispenser offers good value for the money given how inexpensive it is, and the fact that the rear of the dispenser sometimes lifts off the desk a bit when I use one hand doesn't bother me that much, given what I paid. For the price, this dispenser meets my needs and offers good value. Before buying this from Amazon, I went to a brick and mortar big box store to take a look at the tape dispensers they had in stock in this price range. Of these dispensers, this was the heaviest and appeared to have the best cutter. One advantage of buying your own tape dispenser is that you can save a lot on the Scotch tape itself. For about $10.00 on Amazon, I was able to buy 6 rolls of tape, each roll being 1,000 inches, or a total of 6,000 inches of tape - far less than buying the same amount of tape that come with the cheap, throwaway dispensers.A nice feature is that the center core that you place a new roll of tape over is built into the dispenser via a hinged mechanism. You will never lose this part by throwing away a used roll of tape with the core still attached.Additional and revised comments:After buying this, I noticed that on Amazon, there is a model C-40 tape dispenser that is listed at 1.6 pounds as opposed to the .99 pounds of the C-60. However, the C-40 costs almost twice as much. If the weight listed on Amazon for the C-40 model is correct, I probably would have bought that model instead, but if you don’t want to pay twice the price, this dispenser will meet the needs of most users.https://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Deluxe-Desktop-Dispenser-C-40/dp/B00006IF6W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495468879&sr=8-1&keywords=tape+dispenser+c-40
Stylish Looking Despenser
January 17, 2017
Looking for a stylish tape dispenser for my desk. This one fit the bill. Looks great. The only issue I have with it is that it is a little bit too light and moves when pulling longer pieces of tape off the despenser. Otherwise, good purchase.
Good Home/Office Product
November 6, 2016
Just received my Scotch C60-ST Tape Dispenser and so far like it, does not come tape. It is two tone: top curvy part is silver and the base is black.Looks quite decent and basic so goes with any office or home setting. Heavy duty with pads under base so it would slide all over the desk when pulling tape and had some weight to it (could also be used as a paper weight if wanted to). Blade are sharp enough to tear tape, box says should last for years(we will see). So far there is nothing I do not like about this product.
This is a good tape dispenser
June 22, 2016
This is a good tape dispenser. It isn't as heavy as I had hoped for, but it's heavy enough that it doesn't lift from the surface when you're dispensing tape. The teeth are sharp (I was worried about this after reading a previous review). There are no issues with the teeth not being sharp enough to cut through the tape. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. Serves its purpose at a reasonable cost.
Nice
April 20, 2016
Out of the box the dispenser has a sleek, pleasing shape and a satin silver-tone top for a sexy and curvy look on my desk. Loading tape is easy with a locking spool mechanism that certainly securely holds the tape roll in place during use. It is lightly weighted and has a grippy bottom to help keep it on my desk while cutting. Tape cut fairly easily. For under 10 bucks it’s now on my desk and I didn’t even have to go out!
Nice dispenser overall
November 1, 2015
Overall it does what it's supposed to do. As someone mentioned, it is light so if I am not careful ripping the tape, the dispensar moves and sometimes I accidentally run my diver or hand over the blade as I do this. The blade hasnt cut skin yet but this is scary at the moment it's happening.

OK but not as good as the USA ones.
October 25, 2017
Ordered one and it functioned perfectly, so well that I got a second one and it's OK but not as good as the first. The second will not cleanly fold a staple without paper. Not that you would normally do that but that's a way of checking the alignment and the second one is slightly out. Not so much so that it cannot be used but not quite as it should be. I have sworn by "Swingline" over the years and all have been perfect. However, these are the first Chinese ones I have purchased and, obviously, the quality control has gone down. Won't be purchasing them anymore unless they come back to USA even if it costs more.

Jamming a little since I received it, but I'm thinking it's because its new. I hope that it will stop after I've used it for a while. I've always had this brand/type of stapler on my desk and have never been disappointed.
The 747 is the (much) smarter purchase.
December 27, 2015
I would recommend the Swingline 747 Business Manual instead. Definitely worth the extra money. These become obstructed easily. Never like removing staples that are jammed, which happens often with these. Definitely buy the 747 instead; it is by far the best portable stapler on the market. Has never jammed and works tremendously after so many years.
This is generally annoying and unneccessary
November 15, 2015
It's okay.Three stars for the following reasons:-- To "unfold" the stapler, you have to hit a manual latch on the bottom. This is generally annoying and unneccessary.-- The top of the stapler where the logo is fell off after the first month

Meh. Scuffs in the paint and a scratch or two.
February 21, 2014
I am only giving this item three stars because it came with some scuffs in the paint and a minor scratch or two. The item ships in a thin cardboard box which sits inside a regular box. It looks like the box that it comes in rubbed off some of the paint (and not worth returning). I'm not sure if this happened during shipment (FedEx), or if it is a factory defect or what. I'm just stating my experience. Nothing was horribly wrong with it but it is enough to bother me, especially because this item is supposed to be new.

DISAPPOINTING
April 24, 2016
Had to return two of these back-to-back. Would have returned the third one, but it was a gift and I didn't find out it kept jamming until it was too late to return it. Not durable, which is disappointing because I owned one of these for more than 20 years before it broke!
Not as good as expected from this brand, now made in China
May 25, 2015
Does everything need to be made in China? I tested it new out of the box, the staples do not fold over closed even on each side. Our original Swingline Stapler is maybe twenty years old made in USA, and still works great. I purchased this new one for our daughter to use while away in school. I really do not think it will last or even do a neat job stapling school papers. I think you would be better off buying in a office supply store and testing before buying.
It's probably the stapler I got in particular that doesn't function very well.
April 11, 2015
It's probably the stapler I got in particular that doesn't function very well, but sometimes it has difficulty properly directing the prongs of the staples on the reverse side. Rather than follow the curve of the receptacle and hook around, they often will mash flat and cause the staple to not fully penetrate.I've used these for years with no troubles, so I likely have a dude, but the only solution I've found is to staple firmly and quickly for it to function properly.
bought this in early november
January 13, 2014
I bought this in early november with a high expectation--Swingline is known for their great staplers. Every office has one. My former (plastic) swingline broke, so I thought I'd replace it with this heavy duty metal one, thinking the construction of the first was lacking. I was wrong. It has jammed up so many times (often with one push, it'll try to send 2 or 3 staples through). Finally, it got so the staples just stay stuck in the part where they come out. I've tried to pry them out, but they are stuck. And I use good staples too. 2 months of use is just not good enough for me.
NOT good for a classroom
January 20, 2012
I bought a couple of these staplers for my high school classroom based on the low price and good reviews. Guess I should have know you get what you pay for--they are absolutely awful! The stapling mechanism is rough, requires more than average pressure to staple, and jams more often than any of the other staplers I own. Though they are made of metal, so not going to break like plastic, they are shoddily made and the "Swingline" logo on the top disappeared from both literally within a week of use. The worst part, though, is that they really struggle with more than about 5 sheets of paper at a time. My students have to turn in homework packets of about 10 sheets and these staplers almost never send a staple all the way through. Now everyone actively avoids them in favor of my other staplers...Just as a note, I don't think this is true of Swinglines in general-- the other, higher end Swinglines I have work wonderfully and have held up over multiple years. It is only this particular model I plan to avoid like the plague in the future :) I did give it two stars (instead of one) since my staplers do technically staple paper as long as you don't have too much of it and have strong hands!

Hard to tear tape off, leaks sand.
October 21, 2017
This tape dispenser is very hard to use, I have to use a lot of force to cut the piece of tape, unless I pick it up with both hands, angle it down-wards and then the tape tears better. The drawback of this method though, is sand will come spilling out. When I first opened my package, there was sand stuck in the crevices of this tape dispenser. NO WHERE did I read it had sand in it. I will end up donating it and trying to find another that is not filled with sand...until then, it's better than no dispenser. Wish I had bought a different one!
Design is Flawed!
September 2, 2017
Design is flawed, when you pull the tape the "whole roll" lifts up. Makes it not very sturdy, and hard to use. It is a nice idea though! The part that holds the tape needs to "click" in place or something.

July 17, 2017
Why do they have to change things. 1) the item is to light and slides when you pull the tape. 2) the tape is held in this flop up thing that flops up when you pull the tape. Tape holder were just fine when they were heavy and simply had a slot with a roller to hold the tape. It works, that is about all I can say about it.

August 6, 2016
I was looking for a dispenser that wouldn't move and lift when one tried to dispense and cut scotch tape...this is not the one! It looks good and functions, just not heavy enough.
Borderline Useless
August 14, 2015
Rarely do I give any products 1 or 2 stars unless they have completely failed.Well, after one year, this tape dispenser is going into the trash. Dispensing tape should be fairly simple, right? This unit is too light, you can not tear off a 1" or 2" strip of tape without lifting the dispenser off of the table. (I only use 3/4" Scotch brand magic tape, FWIW). So having had to fight this unit with both hands any time I wanted a small strip of tape, now it has gotten worse. The chrome serrated strip has such a thin and crummy finish it has totally corroded (turned black). The serrated strip has to tear the tape, but also needs to hold the end of the tape for the next time. The black corroded serrated strip now lets go of the tape within seconds of tearing off the previous strip, and I'm fishing for the end of the tape down inside the dispenser. Only two things this thing needs to do and it can't do either one. Looked nice when it was new but functionally it is lame.

Piece of junk. Look for a different brand.
October 3, 2014
It wouldn't even load staples. The spring that brings the follower forward in the magazine stretched and hangs out so the cover can't even be closed. Tried to staple something by shaking the staples forward, but the hammer wouldn't catch a staple. I will never buy another Swingline stapler again.
Only lasted a month
November 6, 2012
I bought this stapler as an inexpensive replacement for my middle school classroom. Unfortunately, the students were able to render it useless in a matter of weeks. Surely, with adults using it, I can imagine it would have held up much longer but that doesn't do someone with children being the primary users much good. I've opted for an electric model. I'm hoping "no touch" will be just the cure I need to stop going through a stapler every 5 weeks.Update: FYI, the electric stapler is the perfect classroom stapler. I've had mine for over 2 years and it's still going strong.

Don't waist your time with this POS. I ordered one to replace one I've had for a very long time. This unit did not have enough padding across the bottom to hold it in place when dispensing Scotch Brand tape. Because of the smaller footprint and padding on the bottom that does not cover the entire bottom of the dispenser, the dispenser wobbles when you touch it...then slides as you pull the tape. However, once I removed the dispenser from the box, it sat in a loosely wrapped plastic bag, filled with fine sand. I had to proceed to dump out all of the sand that is used to give the product weight for tearing tape. Long story short, poorly designed and manufactured, may just be a fluke but, definitely dissatisfied, spend your money on another tape dispenser.
Not what they used to be.

Way too light. Better off buying the little throw away dispenser rolls. Either way you need both hands to use them and at least the little ones aren't too bulky to hold.
Too light.

Too light. Keeps on skidding across the desk. Need two hands for operation. I would recommend this one instead:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006IF6W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
