Five Star Reviews: | 84% Doesn't Jam/no more incomplete fastening/sturdy August 27, 2017 Doesn't Jam/thoroughly staples several sheets together. After going through several brands and designs of staplers, I finally found one that doesn't jam or partially staple many sheets. No more pricked fingers trying to remove partially fastened pages or mangled staples stuck in the carriage!.Only light pressure needed to staple pages together .Sturdily made and well worth the money! 5 stars! If only every product was built to last like these staplers... July 6, 2017 The greatest stapler ever created. The only thing missing from this stapler is a built in security system to prevent co-workers from walking off with it. They will all be jealous and some will try, so keep a close eye on it! Otherwise, you'll be going around the office saying, "Excuse me, I believe you have my stapler..." Heavy and good quality staplers, the RED ones are perfect for 'that' office guy too! June 9, 2017 Good heavy staplers. The old "747" is a standby and go-to stapler for anyone who cares about quality over price. Of course you need to own multiple colors, with the RED one being the most important and sought after in the office! All Office Space references aside, these are very high quality staplers and are heavy duty and keep working well years after years. THE BEST STAPLER YOU'LL EVER COME ACROSS April 11, 2017 This stapler is beautiful and functional. its' sturdy and strong. Doesn't get any better than this stapler. Swingline...established in 1925 in America!! Don't get the cheaper brands, you will regret it as I did when I purchased a cheaper stapler here on amazon. Never again! I got my refund and immediately purchased the swingline...maybe twice as much but ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY PENNY! ... did not necessarily need to buy a big bold beautiful red retro stapler but I am glad I did August 25, 2016 I did not necessarily need to buy a big bold beautiful red retro stapler but I am glad I did. It adds a splash of fun and color to my dreary office chores. Rubber pad bottom prevent my cat from launching it off desk. Functions well.UPDATE I unsuccessfully tried to use proper sized staples that were not Swingline. Non brand staples cause extreme jamming and renders this stapler completely uselesss. If you Use only swingline staples and ensure all hidden misfires are removed, this gadget will serve you well. Swingline is awesome! April 1, 2016 The Swingline 747 Business Manual Desktop Stapler is awesome! It is heavy duty, doesn't jam, and very reliable. Before purchasing this stapler, I had an off brand stapler that was constantly jamming and causing a lot of frustration. Now, I have no issues with jams. The stapler is heavy in weight, which lets me double it as a paper weight. Overall, I will never go back to another brand, Swingline is the best! | 75% Heavy and sharp enough to do the job September 13, 2017 I wanted a double roll dispenser like I purchased here 4 years ago since there are jobs for which a re-positionable (aka Magic) tape is better. I settled for this model for my computer desk drawer since I use tape more in the kitchen where I keep my larger, heavier Officemate OIC Recycled 2-In-1 Heavy Duty Tape Dispenser, Black (96690) that holds wider tape for sealing packages along with a narrower tape that's good for attaching return labels.I looked for a desk model because of my continuing frustration using two older specialty plastic hand-held dispensers with tape that is obviously lighter in weight today than the "Scotch tape" I grew up using. Lighter weight tape is especially frustrating in the winter when static can grab and fold it back on itself. But what is completely "crazy-making" is to have a length meant to tape down the longer side of an Amazon return label twist instead of tearing off cleanly and leaving me with that twisted length, plus a few more inches, stuck to my hand. For that very reason I do not buy "bargain" tape, so it's doubly disappointing when I end up with tape stuck to my fingers. This dispenser's metal "teeth" keep the tape from twisting and sticking to the wrong target; and its weight is heavy enough to keep it from sliding should I have it on top of my desk instead of down in the drawer with invoices and such. So I feel confident in recommending it. Just be sure to fully press the roll down into the dispenser to keep it from lifting when you begin to tear off tape. Looks classy and functions extremely well. July 22, 2017 I have many different tape dispensers in my studio for art and craft work for a variety of tapes and adhesives. I try to find dispensers that are sturdy (so they don't wobble when you're ripping off the tape) and yet with clean lines. Love the look and function of this one. It's also a bit more compact than other Scotch dispensers and easy to clean. Now, THIS Is a Great Tape Dispenser! May 25, 2017 I bought this dispenser recently and wasn't sure how much I'd like it. I was pleasantly surprised and it has become my favorite dispenser---I just may buy more to replace my older ones! This has a piece that pulls up and you can put your tape in it, then snap it down. So much better than the older versions I have that have a little circular piece that slides into the hole in the roll of tape, then it slides into the dispenser base. I found that the little circular piece that goes into the roll often dropped and rolled across the floor before I could get it into the tape roll, and I'd have to chase it down. That can't happen with this dispenser---well-thought out construction! This is a great purchase and I highly recommend it to all! Perfect May 17, 2017 Beautiful, sturdy, inner roll holder attached,so will not get lost. Very good deal, and finally will make it harder for u to misplace the roll of tape. I have probably spent an entire days worth of hours, during the last 52 years, searching for the misplaced tape roll! Good basic dispenser April 19, 2017 Unlike previous tape dispenser, this one does not seem to be filled with sand to weigh it down. This is a positive for me, as my previous one constantly leaked sand. Also, the part that goes in the center of a tape roll is not as easily lost with the design on this one. It is very easy to cut with only one hand April 11, 2017 I bought this dispenser for my 4 year old, it really encourages him to do so many projects. Now everyone in the familynot only refuse to use tape without this dispenser, we bought a few more for all the places we go. It is very easy to cut with only one hand, and the base is heavy enough for it not to move when cutting. |
Four Star Reviews: | 8% I think you have my stapler. September 25, 2017 I think this is an office staple for anyone who grew up in the 90s. I love having it in my office as I always smile when I see it. It is really squeaky when you actually use it, but I suppose it can't be perfect. Bonus, you will be able to identify your stapler if someone takes it. Well, unless everyone in your office has a red stapler :-) Recommend. September 12, 2017 Anyone seen my stapler.Yes! It's red. It Staples things together! No complaints. Recommend. No Staples July 21, 2017 Quality, brightly colored stapler! However, if you ordered it to staple some papers...you'll have to go to the store to buy staples! Believe it or not, they don't include any...zero...none! Would be a 5 star otherwise! The ultimate red stapler (aka - Office Space). May 2, 2017 The ultimate red stapler (aka - Office Space). Heavy February 14, 2017 It is quite heavy and feels durable. The color is more gray than light blue. I found it a bit too heavy, especially for use on bulletin boards. Awesome look, mostly sturdy, overall would recommend May 29, 2014 Love it (well technically posted as "like it")! Very sturdy, made mostly out of metal and it has a good weight. Rubber bottom to keep it from sliding. I've only had it for a few weeks, but haven't had a hiccup yet. I was sick of my plastic crap stapler I inherited in the office, it jammed every other time I used it and I was just waiting for someone to swipe it off my desk so I could get a new one. I got impatient, threw it away instead and looked this one up, best reviews by the most people, cheap AND it's just like Milton's. What's not to like?I did read about the one review that mentions the plastic piece on the inside that pretty much keeps the two halves of the stapler together. I checked it out and it does seem like a vital part of the mechanism and if it does break I'd be screwed. It does upset me that every other part seems to be made of metal, but it does work very well and doesn't seem like it will be breaking down anytime soon. So I rolled the dice and overall I'm glad I got an awesome looking stapler because it's going to be sitting on my desk, in my line of vision every day, I'm hoping as long as I don't man handle it I should keep together. | 15% Good Value for the Money - But Rear Lifts Up a Bit When Used with One Hand May 18, 2017 This is a very good value for the money. It is weighted, has a skid-resistant bottom, with two skid-resistant pads glued to the bottom, cuts tape pretty easily, and has room to hold a 1,500 inch roll of Scotch tape (according to the manufacturer. I've been using 1,000 inch rolls), either 1/2" or 3/4" wide. When I use one hand to tear off the tape, the back of the dispenser does lift off the desk a bit, however, about 1/2 inch or so, but I can still tear the tape using one hand only with the other hand free. The skid resistant pads on the bottom do prevent the dispenser from sliding horizontally.Given above, this dispenser could benefit from being weighted a bit more heavily, but this tape dispenser offers good value for the money given how inexpensive it is, and the fact that the rear of the dispenser sometimes lifts off the desk a bit when I use one hand doesn't bother me that much, given what I paid. For the price, this dispenser meets my needs and offers good value. Before buying this from Amazon, I went to a brick and mortar big box store to take a look at the tape dispensers they had in stock in this price range. Of these dispensers, this was the heaviest and appeared to have the best cutter. One advantage of buying your own tape dispenser is that you can save a lot on the Scotch tape itself. For about $10.00 on Amazon, I was able to buy 6 rolls of tape, each roll being 1,000 inches, or a total of 6,000 inches of tape - far less than buying the same amount of tape that come with the cheap, throwaway dispensers.A nice feature is that the center core that you place a new roll of tape over is built into the dispenser via a hinged mechanism. You will never lose this part by throwing away a used roll of tape with the core still attached.Additional and revised comments:After buying this, I noticed that on Amazon, there is a model C-40 tape dispenser that is listed at 1.6 pounds as opposed to the .99 pounds of the C-60. However, the C-40 costs almost twice as much. If the weight listed on Amazon for the C-40 model is correct, I probably would have bought that model instead, but if you don’t want to pay twice the price, this dispenser will meet the needs of most users.https://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Deluxe-Desktop-Dispenser-C-40/dp/B00006IF6W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495468879&sr=8-1&keywords=tape+dispenser+c-40 Stylish Looking Despenser January 17, 2017 Looking for a stylish tape dispenser for my desk. This one fit the bill. Looks great. The only issue I have with it is that it is a little bit too light and moves when pulling longer pieces of tape off the despenser. Otherwise, good purchase. Good Home/Office Product November 6, 2016 Just received my Scotch C60-ST Tape Dispenser and so far like it, does not come tape. It is two tone: top curvy part is silver and the base is black.Looks quite decent and basic so goes with any office or home setting. Heavy duty with pads under base so it would slide all over the desk when pulling tape and had some weight to it (could also be used as a paper weight if wanted to). Blade are sharp enough to tear tape, box says should last for years(we will see). So far there is nothing I do not like about this product. This is a good tape dispenser June 22, 2016 This is a good tape dispenser. It isn't as heavy as I had hoped for, but it's heavy enough that it doesn't lift from the surface when you're dispensing tape. The teeth are sharp (I was worried about this after reading a previous review). There are no issues with the teeth not being sharp enough to cut through the tape. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. Serves its purpose at a reasonable cost. Nice April 20, 2016 Out of the box the dispenser has a sleek, pleasing shape and a satin silver-tone top for a sexy and curvy look on my desk. Loading tape is easy with a locking spool mechanism that certainly securely holds the tape roll in place during use. It is lightly weighted and has a grippy bottom to help keep it on my desk while cutting. Tape cut fairly easily. For under 10 bucks it’s now on my desk and I didn’t even have to go out! Nice dispenser overall November 1, 2015 Overall it does what it's supposed to do. As someone mentioned, it is light so if I am not careful ripping the tape, the dispensar moves and sometimes I accidentally run my diver or hand over the blade as I do this. The blade hasnt cut skin yet but this is scary at the moment it's happening. |
Three Star Reviews: | 3% ... silver plate on the top of the stapler is poor clamped/looks trashy June 26, 2017 I was hoping for a sleek stapler but the "Swingline" silver plate on the top of the stapler is poor clamped/looks trashy.Sure it is "funny" to have one that is similar to the one in Office Space, but I regret my purchase due to the shoddy nature of how it actually looks in person. Looks good, not well made. March 24, 2017 Loved it when I first got it.Had one really bad jam that required a little surgery, but that was fine. However, since, the main spring has stretched to the point that the stapler is unusable. I'll likely buy a replacement spring and fix it myself because I do like the look of the product, but I would by no means call it well made or reliable. Pretty but... September 17, 2016 This is a beautiful stapler. That being said It's more of a paperweight than a stapler at this point. Basically you have to hit the top hard to get it to staple. When working in a quiet office it's somewhat distracting to be slamming down on metal every time I need to staple. I ended up purchasing a different one. Received scratched product September 5, 2016 It seems sturdy. Just disappointed that the package cover was dented and when I opened it I noticed a scratch on the red paint on the side of it which makes it look used. If I'm going to pay for an item, I would expect for it to be in new condition. I wanted a nice solid, metal constructed stapler April 14, 2016 I wanted a nice solid, metal constructed stapler. This is good... but it wobbles. It's almost as if the chrome finish made it ever so thicker that the bottom rubber insert cannot set into the right place. The black version of this stapler, on the other hand, is near perfect. Looks great but... January 12, 2016 I love Swingline and HAD to have this red stapler after watching "The Office." Unfortunately it permanently jammed after only one year. | 4% Tape doesn't cut easily, like other reviewer's have stated July 31, 2017 Tape doesn't cut easily, like other reviewer's have stated. Talk about cheap... June 6, 2017 The dispenser in and of its self is great, but it could of at least come with one roll of Scotch tape 😵. Ok January 18, 2017 I should have read the description closer. No tape included and I don't have a lot of confidence in the strength of the plastic that is attached to the base that holds the tape. Meh. Scuffs in the paint and a scratch or two. February 21, 2014 I am only giving this item three stars because it came with some scuffs in the paint and a minor scratch or two. The item ships in a thin cardboard box which sits inside a regular box. It looks like the box that it comes in rubbed off some of the paint (and not worth returning). I'm not sure if this happened during shipment (FedEx), or if it is a factory defect or what. I'm just stating my experience. Nothing was horribly wrong with it but it is enough to bother me, especially because this item is supposed to be new. |
Two Star Reviews: | 1% Not the quality I expected. September 7, 2017 I love the look and feel of the stapler but it failed in less than two months of infrequent use. Specifically, staples get jammed at the front business end and even after yanking the bent staples out with pliers, the stapler does not work. I cannot unjam it long enough for it to work at all. Not for heavy use. June 12, 2017 Purchased one 9 months ago to be used at a restaurant to staple receipts. It recently failed. It started getting staples stuck inside the feeder, by the opening where they come out. Always used swingline staples. Looks good but quality control lacks. June 6, 2015 I purchased this because of the other reviews. I had to wait a couple of months for it to be back in stock. It looks really nice but the part where the staple comes out does not line up with the receptical so the staples smash instead of curling like they should. I usually have to staple 2-3 times to get it to work. I don't know if this is a quality control issue or happens regularly but I ended up giving it away. Overrated Stapler May 13, 2015 I'm not sure why this stapler gets such high review. I found that it often doesn't staple all the way through stacks of five pages or thicker, which really shouldn't be a difficult task for a commercial stapler. You really have to slam the stapler pretty hard to get it through. These aren't heavy duty pieces of paper either, just regular copy paper for a laser printer.I'm using the staples specifically recommended by the manufacturer, so that isn't the problem. This red Swingline stapler is a dull pink stapler that has clearly been sitting in the sun for a very long time. April 21, 2015 The reason most people would buy a red Swingline Stapler is because of the movie Office Space. That's why I bought it. That was also the intent of the seller/manufacturer. After all, it was sent in clear plastic packaging with the Horrible Bosses movie logo. Everybody is in on the joke. I bought the stapler for a friend who was recently moved into the absolute worst cubical at work. I was disappointed to find that my red Swingline stapler is not red at all. It's dull pink. It is very obvious that before this stapler got to me, it was sitting on a shelf in direct sunlight for a very, very long time. While the whole stapler is a dull pink, the bottom edges are even more faded. There is a very clear, easy to notice gradient from dull pink to very pale pink.So my friend's pink Swingline stapler is on his desk this morning and really, truly it looks like it has been sitting there for years. I am giving this product two stars because it completely misses the whole point of the novelty that it is. wobbles February 5, 2014 it's pretty but doesn't sit flat on desk... it wobbles back and forth. rubber base does not fit well and serveral of the connection points are very loose. if you take the rubber base off it seems to sit flat, but with the base attached it wobbles. no obvious place where its bulging. the swingline crest on top looks kind of cheap. awaiting replacement. we'll see. | 2% Hard to tear tape off, leaks sand. October 21, 2017 This tape dispenser is very hard to use, I have to use a lot of force to cut the piece of tape, unless I pick it up with both hands, angle it down-wards and then the tape tears better. The drawback of this method though, is sand will come spilling out. When I first opened my package, there was sand stuck in the crevices of this tape dispenser. NO WHERE did I read it had sand in it. I will end up donating it and trying to find another that is not filled with sand...until then, it's better than no dispenser. Wish I had bought a different one! Design is Flawed! September 2, 2017 Design is flawed, when you pull the tape the "whole roll" lifts up. Makes it not very sturdy, and hard to use. It is a nice idea though! The part that holds the tape needs to "click" in place or something. Tape holder were just fine when they were heavy and simply had a slot ... July 17, 2017 Why do they have to change things. 1) the item is to light and slides when you pull the tape. 2) the tape is held in this flop up thing that flops up when you pull the tape. Tape holder were just fine when they were heavy and simply had a slot with a roller to hold the tape. It works, that is about all I can say about it. Not heavy enough August 6, 2016 I was looking for a dispenser that wouldn't move and lift when one tried to dispense and cut scotch tape...this is not the one! It looks good and functions, just not heavy enough. Borderline Useless August 14, 2015 Rarely do I give any products 1 or 2 stars unless they have completely failed.Well, after one year, this tape dispenser is going into the trash. Dispensing tape should be fairly simple, right? This unit is too light, you can not tear off a 1" or 2" strip of tape without lifting the dispenser off of the table. (I only use 3/4" Scotch brand magic tape, FWIW). So having had to fight this unit with both hands any time I wanted a small strip of tape, now it has gotten worse. The chrome serrated strip has such a thin and crummy finish it has totally corroded (turned black). The serrated strip has to tear the tape, but also needs to hold the end of the tape for the next time. The black corroded serrated strip now lets go of the tape within seconds of tearing off the previous strip, and I'm fishing for the end of the tape down inside the dispenser. Only two things this thing needs to do and it can't do either one. Looked nice when it was new but functionally it is lame. |
One Star Reviews: | 4% What a piece of garbage. The only stapler we EVER bought that broke October 15, 2017 What a piece of garbage. The only stapler we EVER bought that broke. The stapler looks nice, but stay away from this thing - the interior workings are the cheapest of stamped metal. When it broke and we looked inside to see what was wrong, we could not believe what junk this thing was inside.Swingline should be humiliated releasing a product this crappy. I've only had it since November and use it maybe ... May 17, 2017 I've only had it since November and use it maybe once a week for light stapling. It jammed on me 3 times. I took it apart and fixed the jam and it still doesn't work. Yes, I use Swingline staples. Garbage March 23, 2017 This stapler is total garbage. Right out of the box I loaded it with the EXACT STAPLES IT CALLED for. It jammed immediately and then the metal plate that pushes into the staples dislodged. It is going back and I think I am done with Swingline. Do Not waste your money on this thing. Don't buy this stapler December 14, 2016 I bought this to replace a defective stapler that I owned for over a decade. It's a Swingline, and I used Swingline SF-1 staples, but for some reason they don't move forward in the queue. I had to push the staples with a pencil to move them forward each time I used one, which got old, to say the least. Pushing the staples forward worked for two months, and today the staples just jammed. I am very angry with this purchase. I can't recommend it to anyone. It worked for about two weeks, then nothing but problems. I only wish I hadn't suffered with it for so long, because I could have returned it. Now it's too late. Poor Quality - don't bother December 9, 2016 Worked well for about a month. :( Now it's a piece of garbage. Jams every time, when I un-jam it, it just jams again. Upon inspection, it appears the little metal square that holds the staples steady is flimsy and is easily bent. We literally stapled with it, maybe, 12 times and it's now inoperable. And of course this happened exactly 30 days after purchase, and the return window is closed. :(Into the trash. Useless - Don't buy unless you just want a paperweight October 29, 2016 This stapler looked great when taken out of the box and I was excited to get it, but functionally it didn't work, AT ALL. Every time I tried to put staples in the spring had such strong tension it would either shoot them out or mangle them in such a way that it caused a jam. In short, the stapler just kept getting jammed and wouldn't work for it's intended purpose. Back to my (reliable) Dollar Tree stapler I go. In the trash this item went. | 4% Don't waist your time with this POS. I ordered ... October 26, 2017 Don't waist your time with this POS. I ordered one to replace one I've had for a very long time. This unit did not have enough padding across the bottom to hold it in place when dispensing Scotch Brand tape. Because of the smaller footprint and padding on the bottom that does not cover the entire bottom of the dispenser, the dispenser wobbles when you touch it...then slides as you pull the tape. Very frustrating...and it was an "Amazon Choice"???? When you pull the tape it pulls up in the ... October 11, 2017 When you pull the tape it pulls up in the back and it is difficult to get the correct angle to cut the tape. It is not sharp enough. It has been frustrating. I am looking for a new one right after I post this review. it was leaking a fine sand. At first I thought it may just ... August 31, 2017 Before I took this tape dispenser out of its box that it came in, it was leaking a fine sand. At first I thought it may just be some dust or manufacturing residuals. However, once I removed the dispenser from the box, it sat in a loosely wrapped plastic bag, filled with fine sand. I had to proceed to dump out all of the sand that is used to give the product weight for tearing tape. Long story short, poorly designed and manufactured, may just be a fluke but, definitely dissatisfied, spend your money on another tape dispenser. Not what they used to be. June 16, 2017 Way too light. Better off buying the little throw away dispenser rolls. Either way you need both hands to use them and at least the little ones aren't too bulky to hold. Too light. November 3, 2014 Too light. Keeps on skidding across the desk. Need two hands for operation. I would recommend this one instead:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006IF6W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |
