Five Star Reviews: | 88% These are fantastic! June 19, 2017 Wow! Love these! Baking fries & sweet potato fries using no oil! Totally non-stick! No more foil! No more mess! I'm considering giving these to everyone in my family for Christmas this year! Someone commented on storage - that best way to store is roll up and put into an empty paper towel roll - great advice - we do that! An empty toilette paper roll is perfect for the small one! I'm glad someone shared that info! Amazing, beyond words..... May 30, 2017 I have never baked with silicone mats before. I've used the standard tin foil and even parchment paper. What an amazing difference! Now I'm looking forward to trying many new recipes, and seeing what these mats can and can not do for me. As an at home cook, I highly recommend these versatile mats. Once you start using them, you WILL wonder how you ever did without them. It works May 9, 2017 This is my designated macaron mat set and I've used it twice; so far, so good. It does what it's supposed to do. I love how my macarons have a uniform flat base when compared to using parchment paper. Cheaper than Silpat. The smallest one doesn't fit my toaster oven but that's OK. Will buy more for future use. Great non stick mats for baking December 13, 2016 Giving this pack of baking mats as a Christmas gift. Chose these because they offered two sizes in the package at a decent price. I expect these silicon mats will perform as well as others I have purchased in the past. Great for baking cookies...no butter or cooking spray needed on the pan. Cookies won't burn on the bottom or stick to the mat. Also keep a separate silicon mat for baking fish or vegetables in the oven. If you haven't tried silicon mats before, now is the time and these are the best! January 21, 2016 Great product, great price - I am a parchment paper fan and finally took the plunge. These are the first silicon mats I've ever purchased. I do a lot of baking and had been watching them for a while. I like how the colors turn darker when hot and turn back to what's picture when cool. Not sure that's even intentional in the design but it helped me know when i could touch it. The sizes fit perfectly in my cookie sheets and you can't beat $3 each! I also like the feel of them. They feel sturdy and don't slide on the sheet, makes clean-up a breeze and no more cutting parchment paper wrong. I'm hooked. Excellent mats! June 22, 2015 These are excellent quality baking mats! For the longest time, I was skeptical of using silicone baking mats in the kitchen, but these proved me wrong. They have NO chemical/silicone odor out of the box or in the oven. I've used these probably 2-3 times a day, everyday since I've had them now (about a month) and they hold up very well. Nothing sticks to them (I've baked cookies, pretzels, chicken, onion rings, French fries, etc etc), and to clean I use a little warm soapy water and my Scrub Daddy sponge to get off any bits. I'm so glad that I don't have to measure and cut foil or parchment paper to line my cookie sheets anymore. The toaster oven size is the perfect size for my smaller oven, and the one I use more frequently. Give these a try if you're on the fence - you won't regret it. | 86% Good baking Mat Set April 27, 2016 Silicone Baking Mat 2-Pk - Fits Half Sheets - Blue, Red colorsI love baking mats. They are like the new technology in cooking (for me anyway). I bought these back in 2015 but never got around to doing the review. They are great. This is a 2 pack that comes with different sizes. I liked that there was a smaller one that I could use in the toaster over. I bake often but I don’t always need to use the big over. So the smaller mat / sheet comes in handy. These mats are good quality. They have held up over time and have less staining than a few of the other mats that I have. It seems like they last a long time. They are still in really good shape after a lot of usage.Star Rating: When I do a review I always start out with 5 stars ★★★★★. Then if there is something wrong I will deduct one star and explain why. This way I’m not just arbitrarily picking a number. This mat set gets 5 stars. They are good mats that still work after me using them for almost a year. (Yes, that includes burning stuff on them and they are still good).I do NOT ever give good feedback for bad products. Rest assured my reviews are honest. If you found my product review helpful, please thumbs up this review. This will make it easier for others to find the review so they can be helped as well. If you have any questions about this product or my review, please do not hesitate to ask. I can help you determine if this will fit your needs. Thanks for reading. Silicone sheets March 21, 2014 This product is great! Nothing sticks to the sheets, cleanup is a breeze, and no oil is necessary. If you are baking fries or something that does have oil, it cooks perfectly without burning on the bottom. I had used a similar product that did not cleanup nearly as well. I highly recommend this product. Why did I wait? March 14, 2014 LOVE these baking sheets. Non-stick, clean up is simple (dishwasher), and they've held up really well. Don't spend $$$$ on the well known mats because these are identical, fit my half sheet baking sheets edge to edge and have been amazing! I love these mats! January 6, 2014 I own Silpat mats and these are EVERY bit as good. They function flawlessly - cleanup is a snap! This is my second pair of these to use with some new baking sheets I recently purchased. You won't go wrong with these! New to Silicone baking mats and LOVE them! October 3, 2013 I have been eyeballing a couple of Silicone baking mats for some time now. My skepticism kept using "plasticy" things in the oven kept me from buying them but when I saw these on sale the other day, the price I was paying for TWO mats was all I needed to help make my decision. I received these last night and couldn't wait to use them this morning. These came ROLLED up in the mail. I was a little bummed when I saw that because I thought "Oh great, now they won't lay flat". Well, I was wrong. I unrolled them and they were ready to go! I took them straight to my kitchen sink and rinsed with warm soapy water and left them to dry out in my dish rack. My first grader ONLY likes HOT lunches - he's not a sandwich guy. I couldn't wait to make his pizza rolls on these this morning. I placed one of the mats on my cookie sheet and laid out about 12 pizza rolls. They bake at 425 degrees for about 10-11 minutes. When I bake these on my cookie sheet and on aluminum foil, they are normally toasted pretty well (sometimes dark brown at the bottom) at around 9-10 minutes with the cheese leaking out. When I did these on my ChicoChef, at 5 minutes (halfway through baking), the pizza rolls still seemed pretty "raw". I started to get worried. Plus, I saw a LITTLE smoke around the mats - I was even more worried that this thing was going to burn up in the oven (so I stuck around and kept an eye on the baking process. I'm not quite sure if the smoke was due to my VERY old and used cookie sheet either). I decided to add an extra minute to my pizza rolls though...then checked my pizza rolls at the 1:00 minute remaining marker...lo and behold...pizza rolls were INDEED nice and cooked...cheese seeping through the edges and all!!! The mat was NOT burnt! In fact, I decided to take the oven off and let the rolls sit in the warmth for the additional minute. The rolls did not have the dark brown "burnt up" look and feel to it like they do most of the time. And like all the other reviewers pointed out...there is NO STICKING and scraping needed to remove food items on these. They wipe right off or you can just use your fingers to pull stuff right off. I cannot wait to try other things with this as my week progress.I will ONLY update this comment if I have an issue with this mat. The only thing I would say is a con to these mats (as with anything with this type of material) is that you have to watch for staining. The areas where the pizza rolls leaked out the cheese/sauce have that yellowish/orangish tinge/stain to it. I did wash with warm soapy water (I'm afraid to scrub too hard) but the stains are still there. These are a GREAT bargain for TWO mats! I've seen other manufacturers charge this price for 1. I bake A LOT. I make my sons lunch EVERYDAY - the cost for liners can add up at the end of a school year! Also, most of our dinners are done in the oven as well. Try them, you have nothing to lose...these are FDA approved (something that caught my eye in the description as well) and come with a lifetime guarantee. Besides, these are being sold through Amazon Prime - if you don't like it, you can return it!Happy Baking! Great Gift! (Bought a few more after I received one as a gift myself!) August 1, 2013 I received a ChicoChef baking mat as a free gift from a friend. I'd never baked with silicone before, so I was a bit apprehensive. I also try to avoid gluten, so I wasn't sure how useful it would be in my kitchen. Now, I'm a convert! I use my ChicoChef baking mat for everything - chicken, fish, veggies, potatoes, and the occaisional non-GF goodie. It's also helped me to get my kids to cook more. They really like the color (mine is blue) and have a great time helping me plate fresh goodies - when they don't eat them all! I wouldn't trade my mat for the world. It's an excellent addition to my kitchen, and I'm very grateful to my friend for the gift. Now that I know where he found it, I will be buying a few as gifts for friends and family. Especially for those that have kids! :)UPDATE: Did see one negative review on here, and just had a quick response, because my experience has been so much to the contrary - the emailhad the same label as the product, and the book was easy to find and download. If you read through the product description, it never says you get a booklet. It talks about downloading a recipe book, which is what I did. Speaking of which, I used my book AND one of the company's YouTube videos to make some great pizzas and some yummy cereal for my family. I bought a new set of mats for my mom and sister, too! There's a well-researched chapter on infant and child nutrition at the beginning of the book that I wasn't expecting, but that is really nice to have on hand - the author even few in some info on what kids need at different ages, which helps me understand why some days my son eats like a fiend, and other days he barely touches his plate (he's a toddler. go figure!). :) Love, Love, LOVE this product! |
Four Star Reviews: | 8% No more sticking! October 30, 2017 Good silicone mats, great for rolling out cookie dough, cutting pastry strips for pies and baking. Easy to wash in warm soapy water and easy to store (just don't fold them). They have a silicone-y smell when you first get them but it goes away after a couple washes. I just wish they came in bigger sizes. So much easier lifting cookie dough off these bad boys. So I'm hoping I will find more uses where it will perform better. June 30, 2017 I bought these mats to save on parchment paper while baking cloud bread--it did stick a bit where on the parchment it doesn't. So I'm hoping I will find more uses where it will perform better. if you don't want to keep wasting money on parchment ... June 8, 2017 if you don't want to keep wasting money on parchment paper this is your answer. Has worked well so far. Works perfectly... some staining. April 12, 2017 These are amazing. Nothing sticks... clean up is a breeze. Saves money on parchment and foil. Stain easily. (Seasonings burn on, no smell tho). The staining doesn't really bother me. Love them. I use them mainly for homemade oil-less French Fries Great product, a tad too big August 17, 2016 These work great! I love that they are keeping my new pans looking nice, and they are easy to clean with just warm soapy water. My only concern is that these say they fit half-sheet and quarter-sheet pans, but they are just slightly too large. They don't fit completely in the bottom of the pan -- one side or another is always going up the edge of the pan a bit (like 1/4" or less). It's not a lot, and it doesn't impact the effectiveness. Overall a good product. | 9% Good mats July 14, 2016 I bought these to use in place of tin foil in the oven. Some of my baking sheets have seen better days and I purchased these mats to place over the old finish and protect my food. These mats work great and most food comes right off with no problem. They will stain however and are a little hard to clean but still a good buy to use in the oven. Love the Product, Not the Packaging October 8, 2015 I really like these mats and have been using them for a month or so now. I love that I don't have to fight any stuck on food on my cookie sheets anymore! My only wish is that these came in some kind of nicer box or something to keep them in. They arrive rolled with a small piece of heavier paper taped around them. They are now loosely rolled in my cupboard, and they're always kind of flopping around. I just wish a nicer box/package had been provided so the instructions and everything were right there too. The product itself was great - the packaging could use improvement! Works as advertised, not sure how to clean April 22, 2015 These things work great, though cleaning them is a bit of a challenge. They retain stains (maybe I need to do more research) but they look a bit nasty after a while. On the plus side, they are definitely helpful with not using a ton of oil on the pan, so functionally they work as advertised. I'd get them again, if needed, but I'd need to hide them out of sight as they turn a bit ugly after a while. Worked Exactly As Needed January 22, 2015 I bought these over the holiday as I needed to bake lots of cookies. They work perfectly & I really liked the price when I bought them. They got quite a lot of workout in the last month and they're still looking great & unlike another (by another company) that I bought before, this one holds no scents from the food baked on it. If I ever need more, I'd buy these again. Great place mat November 6, 2014 I did not use it for baking yet but I find it a good place mat for my kids, it did not move around on the table and I can put hot soup bowl or hot pot on it. But yet to know whether will it protect my wood table or not. Without it certainly will because the bottom of the bowl would actually stick on the table. Well for kneading the dough...certainly good. I hope they got a bigger sheet may be 4 times or 6 times the size to give me more working surface. Just one gripe May 1, 2014 These mats work fine. My oatmeal cookies came out slightly browned on the bottom, but not not burnt as can sometimes happen with parchment paper. They function as expected, as well as the one non-Silpat silicone mat I purchased from webstaurant. However, there is one difference - the mat I purchased from webstaurant actually does fit my half pans perfectly. But these mats do not fit. I am shortchanged by 1/2" length-wise. This is not a terrible problem, except sometimes you have oozing cookies or you simply don't want any food touching the pan but only the mat. |
Three Star Reviews: | 2% Discolored and Wished They Sold Individuals September 2, 2017 I've had mine for about a week and they work well but mine have become stained after only a couple uses and are completely brown so I'm not sure if that's supposed to happen? It's nice knowing that I'm using something reusable the only thing that worries me is it is discolored.UPDATE: My roommate forgot they can't cut on it and did so so I had to throw mine away. The quarter size is the only one that fits in our oven (we gave the other 2 half sizes away to friends) so I will unfortunately repurchase a silicone baking mat through another seller since I only want the quarter size. I wish they sold individuals! they do maintain a great non-stick surface despite these issues March 16, 2017 The baking mats serve their purpose well but they are incredibly difficult to keep clean. Even after scrubbing them, there will still be a darker tarnish on the mat and a somewhat greasy feel. However, they do maintain a great non-stick surface despite these issues. but discolor easily. Previously used Silpat which did not brown like ... December 20, 2016 Handy, but discolor easily. Previously used Silpat which did not brown like these. Good baking mats, but not dishwasher safe January 20, 2016 These work, however the care instructions listed on the listing and what come with the mats themselves differ. These are listed as being dishwasher safe but the literature indicates the opposite. Since this order, the description may have changed to be correct, but it was not at the time of my order. It works good, but I can't get the smell to go ... October 10, 2015 It works good, but I can't get the smell to go away. I have used it in my smoker and it retails the smell of whatever I'm smoking. Is discoloration a given? June 30, 2015 Nonstick and easy to clean but turning brown starting at the edges after a couple of weeks usage.Update: This is what happened after 3 months. I estimate that I use the small mat every other day usually to reheat pastries and bake frozen foods in a toaster oven. I wash with regular dish soap using a soft sponge. The mat is totally brown and the colored parts are coming off like glue. I can't use the mat anymore as it gives off a plastic burning smell when the oven heats up.Can I get a refund? For the price, aluminum foil is much cheaper though wasteful. But foil might be less harmful in the landfill than these mats as I don't think they are 100% silicone.9/9/2015 Update: I was surprisingly contacted by the vendor offering a full replacement. I will try the new ones and, hopefully, will have better results. Vendor assured that these mats are 100% silicone.9/7/2016 Update: One year later and the big mats are great for cookies & reheating frozen foods in a convection oven. The mats are NOT made for a toaster oven though, as the second small mat I tested suffered the same fate as the first: browning, peeling & cracking of the colored parts. Also, make sure to always place the mats on a solid tray when baking and not one with any perforation as the mat will discolor at the exposed spots. I'd mistakenly used a tray with drainage slits once; now the mat has light imprints of the slits. | 2% Good up to one point. Just know the caveats. January 30, 2017 The idea is great. Non stick for sure. The problem I run into is the "stuff" that runs underneath these mats, while baking, which is a complete pain to clean as it sticks to the pan (which these mats should keep from happening). I wish they edges had a curled up or a groove like profile which would keep any liquid or anything from spilling underneath the mat. good for moist things, not crunchy January 22, 2017 OK. Don't fit my pan and does not make the Oreda fries crunchy when cooking on these. Good for re-heating things in the oven and baking non-crunchy things. Not good for savory baking July 22, 2016 It really does prevent anything from being sticky but it is a pain to wash. But I guess it's as equally a pain to clean the pan, except more flexible so it's not so awkward in the sink. I think this is best for sweet baked foods like cookies it biscuits. I used this for savory things like chicken it roasted vegetables and found the food order doesn't leave the silicone. That's why I decided to purchased these set a couple weeks ago due to all the great reviews. These are my first baking silicone March 15, 2016 First off, I am really into baking these days. That's why I decided to purchased these set a couple weeks ago due to all the great reviews. These are my first baking silicone and I was impressed once I recieved them. Very flexible, stick to the surface good( I can't say it's really good because I rolled out my dough and it moved so I kept readjusting it, not a deal breaker though.). However, my dough sticks to the surface and I have to brush it off while working AND the discoloration! I don't know if it sticks because of the discoloration because the first time I used it, it was great! Keep in mind, with only a few weeks into using these, it turns yellow! I attached the pictures as well. I am quite disappointed in the quality. I even looked up for another mat from the same company but after see these, I would stay away from Chico Chef. Works awesome for things like chicken nuggets February 14, 2015 Works awesome for things like chicken nuggets, etc - but just isn't working with my cookies. They are either raw, or too crunchy. There seems to be too much of an insulating effect. Going to try the ones without fiberglass in the next. Kind of a pain to clean because they are a bit "sticky" but that is the price of reusability I guess. Only fits extra large baking sheets June 29, 2014 1st time ever buying silicone mats. The mats do work when i can use them. They are huge! They don't even properly fit my huge cookie sheet pan.. I still use them in it but the sides are raised up so i don't get all my room. Idk great product just should've done some measuring 1st. |
Two Star Reviews: | 1% They don't last very long, impossible to clean December 21, 2016 This item seems great at first, until you use it a few times. Every time I used it, it got a little dirtier, and even though I was diligent about cleaning it with soap and water, it never really got clean. It collects stains easily, and if the food you are cooking has any grease, oil, or butter in it, it adheres itself to the baking mat, and will never come off. No matter how I tried to clean it, the buildup eventually turned black with repeated use, and I don't feel safe cooking with it any more. The attached image is what the toaster oven mat looks like after about 6 months of semi-regular use.I love the idea of this product, but I wouldn't recommend this brand. Measure before you buy November 3, 2015 Measure the inside of your pans carefully, then check the mat dimensions. I'm having a very hard time finding mats that fit my pans or even finding new pans to fit the mats. I sent these back though I suspect they are quite good mats. Save your money.... October 3, 2015 Browns bottom of bread, rolls and scones too much and causes it to be hard on the bottom and very difficult to cut. Ordered to replace the use of parchment paper but will definitely go back to using the parchment paper. Small holes found after three months of semi moderate/ gentle use. May 10, 2015 I used the little baking mat a lot as of late but no more than any other baking mat I have purchased. The green mat now has a hole on the colored edge revealing the fiberglass underneath along with a few tinier holes.I no longer feel safe cooking on that area because of this.I am very careful with the mat I clean it gently and I never leave it around sharp objects.I only use utensils of soft plastic or wood.Bought 2/19/2015 discovered the hole 5/10/2015 :( SMALL MAT TOO BIG FOR TOASTER OVEN March 14, 2015 The mat that states it fits "toaster oven" is too big for my toaster oven. I'd say my toaster oven is about 5 years old. It overlaps on the sides and front. I've used it, though, and it seems OK. Emailed Silchef about trimming it, but they never responded. Amazon did say DO NOT CUT per the FAQ. I'll keep it, but I am disappointed. | 2% I had them for less than 2 years. They ... August 6, 2016 I had them for less than 2 years. They changed color and I had to throw them away. I invested in another company now. Not the correct dementions!!! September 4, 2015 These are not the size advertised. They are an inch wider than it says they are making it inconvenient to use. measurements in item description were not accurate May 10, 2015 The sole reason for my purchasing this mat is I needed the correct size to fit my half sheet pan. I have a Silpat that I always have to use metal paper clips to hold the half inch overlap so the pad will lay flat on the pan. I checked the item description and measured my pan, but instead of getting just the right size, they ended up being exactly the same size as what I already had!! And unfortunately the paper wrapping was impossible to remove without shredding it into lots of pieces, so now I'm probably stuck with them. I would love to trim them but after reading all about silicon baking pads, trimming is highly unrecommended.FYI the precise measurements are 16 1/2" x 11 1/2" DAMAGE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK. March 28, 2015 I bought them because of the statements of hoe safe they were. Then I got them and read all the warnings about fiberglass contamination if they are damaged in anyway. I've gone back to parchment paper and oil.I use them as shelf liners where they can't get into any trouble. Not all the same size. January 23, 2015 I ordered four sets of these and tucked some away for the future. I immediately used one package and loved them. Last week when I opened up the second package I noticed that they were smaller and did not fit the half pan completely. I checked the other two that I purchased and one is the correct size and the other one is smaller. I ordered all the same product and received two different dimensions 11 x 16 5/8 and 11 1/2 x 16 5/8. I went to return the smaller ones but I have exceeded the time limit on returns. I guess I should not have assumed they would all be the same size and checked each package earlier. I guess I will contact the company directly to see if they can exchange the smaller ones. Cheaper than other brands, in price and quality October 17, 2014 I love silicone baking mats, but the covering on these started peeling after just a few uses. I didn't use high heat or abrasive cleaners, so there is no good reason for the deterioration in quality other than cheap materials. I would recommend spending a bit more and buying some of the nicer baking mats on Amazon. You'll save money in the long run by not needing replacements. |
One Star Reviews: | 1% Silicone 3 Piece Non Stick Baking Mats August 24, 2017 I do not like these mats. They are sticky and WILL NOT MOVE at all. I am not using them for baking. I intended to put them underneath my toaster oven that is sitting on a table with a glass top. Wanted to use them for protection for the glass top but I cannot move my toaster oven a smidgen if I need to without picking it up and it's too heavy for that. I need things to move a little bit. I may return them since I won't be using them. Flawed July 29, 2017 The colored borders can't withstand heat like the rest of the mat as you can see in my photos. I only used them a handful of times. Made in China not USA May 12, 2017 Item description states USA as the country of origin. When I received it, it had a made in China sticker on it! It will be going back. No-Go for Me April 24, 2017 I love the idea, but my cookies no longer bake all the way through. Additionally, some of the cookies were slightly overcooked while others were not done. I would not recommend this product. silicon mats are mesh! December 9, 2016 What's the point of replacing foil or parchment paper with reusable silicon mats if the mats are mesh?!? The point of using foil or parchment paper when baking is keep the oils & grease off the baking sheets to make them easier to wash. Mesh would let oil & grease right through! This is not what I wanted so I'm returning them. | 1% Do Not Buy July 27, 2015 Horrible. They stink up the whole house with a toxic smell when I use them & they're impossible to clean. Too bad because I've been wanting these for a while. Threw them away. Even though they were hand washed ... July 22, 2015 Threw them away. Even though they were hand washed and air dried, they would leach an oily film after being stored. Silicon came off June 1, 2015 I return this item because after once use in the oven, on a cookie sheet to reheat chicken, the silicone came off in a couple of spots about the size of a quarter. Very disappointed. I'm not sure if this is just this company's brand's problem or the product in general. It was terrible. I asked for a refund and don't think ... November 26, 2014 I'm not one to leave reviews but after I received these Silicone Baking Mats I decided I would. I opened them and they were covered in mold. It was terrible. I asked for a refund and don't think I will be buying them again. |
