Love to hear them zapped!
September 12, 2017
I purchased a larger bug zapper months ago, and in spite of a mosquito infestation in the woods, it just did not do it. So, this little zapper beats it all over because of the attractor scent. It is satisfying to hear them zapped so effeciently. This is the best I have owned.
Works like a champ in S. W. Florida
September 5, 2017
I read all the reviews and I saw a few bad ones but I saw a couple from others in Southwest Florida that liked it. I have it sitting on my patio table under the ceiling part which is the Lanai and the rest of my patio is open to the sun with pool and it's caged in. However there are all sizes of gnats that get in constantly and they bite the heck out of everybodyThe bites go from sting like a needle, two instant itching, two mosquitoes that are three times bigger than those in Michigan, to noseeums that leave red dots all over your legs and feet and anywhere else that will itch for days afterwards but you never feel the bite.I have my little Lantern looking blue light bug zapper directly under my outdoor lamp that I read and work on my computer on out here at night time and that things app like crazy the first three nights and I've been hardly getting any bites whatsoever. There are hardly any gnats all over my beautiful sunsella lamp shade screen. It is working awesome even though it is right under and next to a light source. I even hear Zips and zaps during the daytime because some of those gnats don't ever stop.Thank you for wonderful product that looks cool that's easy to use and I highly recommend it to anyone that wants to give it a try I've basically kept it try plugged in the first 3 days all day and all night so it kept running now I unplug it when I go to bed so the battery keeps it going in the last part of the dark and then I plug it when I come out in the day to recharge it for the night. I did not get a free one or get paid for this. I just truly like it. I'm thinking of getting a bigger Stinger to go down on the boat dock where the mosquitoes from the canal and all the trees are way bigger and they're voracious. I'll let you know if the bigger one works
This one really works.
August 24, 2017
I have bought quite a few of such things. This is the best. I'm getting fewer bites this summer. You can leave it plugged it and it lasts all night--at least I do and it seems just fine. I treat it gently because it has a bunch of lights inside of it and I don't want to break anything.
Kills small pests, large beneficial bugs unharmed
August 1, 2017
I bought a second one after I realized its potential. I'm a big fan of insect diversity and I know that blanket killing all your bugs indiscriminately can backfire! I want to kill pest bugs only! This zapper does just that for me. It kills mosquitoes and small flies but lady bugs, spiders and large moths are unharmed. It attracts them (when I open the trap a lot of large bugs fly out) but won't harm them. These bugs are not pests and they help to control bugs that are pests! I know! I lived in a complex that sprayed and killed every bug. We were soon over run by hundreds of spray resistant mega sized roaches. They grew so large because there were no other bugs eating their food. No bug diversity + no competition = roaches bigger than mice. This zapper is perfect for killing just mosquitoes and small biting flying insects. I am super glad I found this out!
This worked great until the second season when I fired it up ...
August 25, 2015
This worked great until the second season when I fired it up and one of the rods kept snapping even though there was nothing in there. I contacted the company (Kaz) and they promptly sent me a shipping voucher to return it. They provided a new replacement for free. I am very happy with the product and the customer service. This was still under the initial one year warranty and they honored it.
More Powerful Than You'd Think!
May 22, 2014
I live in an apartment that features a balcony looking over a wooded area. At night, the flying and biting bugs come out to annoy and feast upon me! Much to my dismay, I didn't have access to an electrical outlet on the outside. I certainly didn't want to run an extension cord out the sliding glass door, leaving a crack for those bugs to find their way in to my apartment and taunt me inside and out! I took to amazon, and came across this intriguing option. I was initially skeptical about how effective this would be, operating off of a rechargeable battery and all. None the less, I bought it. When I received it, I charged it up, and set her up outside. The black light didn't seem all that bright to me, but within minutes I started hearing ZAP, ZAP, ZAP! You can actually see the spark, so apparently bugs can see it very clearly! I'm listening to it zap a few of the blood suckers as I type this now! It's very effective, and easily recharged. I did notice that larger insects like months tend to take several zaps, usually right in a row as they bounce around, to succumb to their fate.My only complaint would be cleanup. As easy as it would be to just take that drawer out and dump the bug carcasses, it's not always that simple. If the bug hits the metal innards at just the right angle (and boy do they), they will stick to it rather than fall into the tray. I haven't had the desire yet to try and find a way to dismantle it and clean them off, but it will have to happen at some point. I don't believe this is reason to take off any points, since the same would be true for any similar product on the market.Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase, and I would highly recommend this to anyone with needs similar to my own!

Pest Sentry 20W Electronic Bug/Gnat Zapper
April 23, 2017
Love it, easy to use and clean. We have little gnats that tend to congregate near our front door on warm Florida nights, which as most know is almost every night of the year in Florida. These nasty gnats get into the house every time someone opens the door and fly directly up to the second floor loft where my computer resides and these gnats just love the light from the PC monitor. As you can imagine, it is most annoying to have these gnats landing on your monitor at night, flying into your eye, or even worse buzzing your ears as they think my PC belongs to them. Well, I declared war on these little pest and set the Pest Sentry 20W Electronic Bug Zapper on the top shelf of my PC desk. Right above the PC monitor. Makes a great night light and doesn’t electronically interfere with my PC. Needless to say, the gnats have met their demise and I no longer have a gnat problem in the house.
Had a bad problem with little tiny flies everywhere
February 27, 2017
Had a bad problem with little tiny flies everywhere. It took 1 month to get rid of them with 2 of these. 100% All Gone. I highly recommend a real blaster for no see ums. Now after a month the air is clear from these nasty flies, and its in the resting mode, but when one dares to come in it blows them up.I only run them a short time a day, but If I get that problem again I'll run it longer, but the problem is gone, and I need to stress this that poisons traps and sprays only worked temporarily, and then they just kept coming back. 2 will do an entire house with 2 floors.Just like the old time bug zappers from the 80's pop pop pop!!!
It works as expected.
October 29, 2016
I got this to late in this year to really know that it will fix my problem, so far it has zapped a few flies and moths. They hit the zapper and exploded, the sound is louder than I thought it might be, but since it works I don't really care. My problem is of my own making, I leave my door open during hot weather so my dogs can go in and out as they wish and to cool my home, this leads to flies coming in but they won't go back out. Also at night, the moths and other night insects come in and they too are a bother. I have tried fly paper which works but it is messy when trying to put it up and take it down and I don't like bug spray, so I thought to try a bug zapper. I believe that next spring and summer this will be very useful.
Great Follow-Up, No Regrets
December 2, 2015
I need to control gnats from my interior planters and didn't want chemicals in my house. My last zapper bug light cost $150 30 years ago: it was too ugly for the house and needed to go. This product costs a fraction of what I last paid but I noted several 'initial failures' and quality issues with other reviews. I can only speak to my experience.1) Seems well built for the money2) Indoors only3) Gnats love it. I have almost zero gnats in other parts of the house after installing this unit4) The company seems amazingly responsive. It followed up after the sale and offered assistance for any issues.5) Bulbs are readily availableI have no regrets with this purchase
I'm a Believer in Houston!
June 1, 2015
This was worth every penny!!Houston is known for it's mosquitoes (and other bugs too). We have a dog that we let out the back door to do her business several times a day and once at night. I decided to try this because no matter how vigilant we were, a mosquito or two were still getting into the house and inevitably, we got bit! They are fast little devils and many times we weren't even aware one had gotten it. But, it only takes one to wreck havoc on your body. I mounted this zapper on a wall facing the back door, not sure it would be effective. I leave it on most of the day (since the dog goes out several times during the day) and definitely at night (when mosquitoes that flew in would sometimes gravitate to our bedrooms and get us while we slept). To our surprise, this bug zapper gets everything that flies in. We haven't been bit since....hallelujah!!
Snap, crackle, pop.... DEAD!!! Love it.
May 29, 2015
First 5 min of turning this on it killed 2 fly's and this was when we did not have many fly's in the house..About 2 or 3 times a year our home seems to get invaded with fly's.. We have never been able to figure out why.. We have large windows in our kitchen breakfast area and most hang around at those windows.. For years we battled them during this 2 or 3 day period with the old fashion fly swatter.. I got sick and tired of cleaning up all the dead fly guts off our windows and floors.. So I decided to try this. Never had one of these before but so far it seems to work great.. Will know for sure the next time we have a fly flareup..The unit also seems very well made and safe. I like the design and the removable tray at the bottom is great for clean up..I normally like to wait months before writing a review to make sure the product works and keeps working but I was impressed with this enough and after it killed 2 fly's in the first 5 min of turning it on I decided to go ahead and post my review.. If anything changes over the next year I will update my review..Love hearing that snap, crackle, pop sound and running over to see the next victim.. LOL And Love not having to battle them myself anymore by letting this unit do the dirty work for me.------------------------------UPDATE: June 27 2015:This item works GREAT... It has killed at least 100 fly's in the short time we have been using it.. One of the best purchases I have ever made.. Will update if anything changes..

Great little workhorse but is as light as the bugs it zapps!
August 7, 2017
Very impressed with this little guy. Same model at our local HD store was $20 more! The charging time is pretty quick and it lasts as long as it states. No complaints here. Bug leftover's are an easy cleanup with the waste tray. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it's VERY light. If you are going to install outside I would highly suggest you secure both top and bottom of unit otherwise your neighbors will have themselves a new bug zapper from being blown into their yard by a small wind. Personal experience on this one!
Keeping it plugged in all the time.
May 14, 2017
OK - heard ONE ZAP!Charged the battery when I received the Stinger. Hung it up and didn't notice it again until the next morning when I charged the battery again.Hung up the zapper INSIDE the house, but an hour later it was OFF.Moved the switch to LED light, light came on; moved switch to zapper, and zapper light came on again. It stayed on a short time - less than an hour, and it went off again.Maybe it needs to remain plugged in for it to function.UPDATE 8/27/2017: Keeping this plugged in all the time and it remains ON all the time. Every now and then we hear the SNAP as the moth or mosquito is fried. It is doing what it is supposed to do, thus the 4 stars (instead of just 2 stars).
It works without the octenol bait traps, too...
September 21, 2016
I've had one of these in the past and I really like it. It did a good job and lasted about four years, which I felt was fair, so I had no issues with picking up a second one. It's compact enough to set it on a tabletop, but I prefer to keep it on the ground under the table which is where our ankle-biters seem to congregate. It uses a black UV light to draw the mosquitoes to it, but you can also install an octenol bait trap in it. The little bait traps are designed specifically for this unit and last about a month, so you have to keep buying them (thanks K-Pods for converting us into a subscription model for all of our household goods!) I find it works decently without the $7 O-pod bait trap, so I use it without putting the Stinger Company's owners' kids through college, and it seems to work just fine without them. One thing that's kind of strange is in the product description - it says it both kills and repels mosquitoes - not quite sure how that works - it seems to me does either one or the other, but our ankles aren't getting eaten in the evenings, so killed or repelled? - I don't know which, but I'm happy.PS - Writing reviews has become an accidental hobby for me, and it always makes my day to know that people find my reviews helpful (and if not, why.) Also, if you have any questions, clarifications, or comments please feel free to leave a comment below. I usually respond pretty quickly and almost always within 24 hours.
but it required no effort on my part and it looked nice as it glowed at night
August 8, 2016
I had purchased a tall solar powered bug zapper from a mail order catalog and used it all through the summer of '15. It only zapped about one bug every three nights, but it required no effort on my part and it looked nice as it glowed at night. I purchased a set of two small and square solar bug zappers at a store in the spring of '16 - they never zapped a single bug ever but they require no effort and they look nice at night. I purchased this rechargeable zapper and I have to recharge it everyday for about 3 hours each day and it zaps bugs for about 3 hours at night. I then purchased several of this model. Each one zaps about 30 insects per night. I wanted to get rid of mosquitoes. About 60% of the bugs zapped by this device are gnats some moths some beetles ad some mosquitoes. I tested this device without the included mosquito lure and it got some mosquitos anyways then I tested it with the mosquito lure and the lure did increase the number of mosquitos caught but it only a slight increase. This device can be used without a lure. This device does work but maybe a plug in insect zapper would work better.
Effective for the price
May 24, 2016
My experience with this so far has been a positive one. Haven't used the included pack that attracts mosquitoes (waiting for it to get warmer at night), but as other reviewers have said, it's effective at what it does. Attracts and kills a ton of moths and other small insects. I can only imagine how more useful it will be when mosquito season begins! The only complaint I have about it is so far is that it doesn't seem strong enough to kill larger bugs and insects. I've emptied the bug tray a few times and had moths that were still alive fly out of the machine. For under $30 and rechargeable, it's still an effective enough product.
Good Indoor Zapper
June 26, 2015
I looked around at all the zappers on Amazon before choosing this one, and I am very satisfied. I am living in a very expensive area of the country and living in a pop up camper for the summer to save cash. I wanted something reasonably small to keep inside the camper to get any bugs that may fly in. The first night I used this it was zapping away and caught quite a lot of bugs. As the other reviews say, it must be used in the dark, like no other single light source. I usually turn it on when I climb in bed and let it run until the battery dies and I usually wake up with quite a few moths and flies in the little tray. The bulb is not crazy bright so it doesn't keep me up at night. I do use it plugged in sometimes if I want it to run all night and have no had an issue doing so even though the instructions say don't.My only complaints are that most of the bugs don't fall into the little tray and instead stick to the zapper so I do have to clean it fairly often, though I suppose you could leave them on the zapper, and it does seem to be a little weak as you will hear it zapping for quite a while for one bug, and sometimes you get that burning smell. Otherwise I think it's a good indoor zapper at a reasonable price without being overly bright and bulky.

Killed the hell out of every bug that came near ...
December 26, 2016
Killed the hell out of every bug that came near to it, really aggressive killer machine :)But.... stopped working today after 11 months, lights are still on but the electrical cage is out of power. Flies now are heaving a party at what used to be their death bed.... Still 4 stars because for 20 bucks I had a very pleasant 11 months....
great but longevity in question
November 23, 2016
Great zapper- we bought it for the inside of our Rv in Florida, but also used it in our apartment in Chicago during the Summer. However, this is my second purchase, as the first one didn't even last a year. I noticed this because a moth was happily sitting on the inside grill and flew away in the morning. Visually speaking, the zapper looked like it was still operational, but obviously some connection had shorted out. For the price, I feel it is worth it, but I do wish it had a longer life span. Also, it is not something I would keep around kids that can't be trusted to leave it alone.
Great for outdoor use.
September 19, 2016
I like in a highly forested area and in the summer termites swarm looking to found new colonies. I purchased this to insure any flying termites that get into my garage (which is easy to get into) don't survive. I wasn't sure it would work on flying termites, but was pleased to find that it works great. They are strongly attracted to the light and get blasted. I have also left it on for weeks at a time, and have yet to have a problem with the lights burning out.I would not use this unit indoors though. It is probably safe, but bug parts get splattered everywhere - not something I would want indoors, and certainly not near a kitchen. So five stars for outdoor use only, four for indoors from the mess it makes.
Thank you!!!!
May 11, 2016
Very nice! This thing is so awesome!!! I live with someone who doesn't have the sense to shut the door after going through it.....oh my god it's beyond annoying. Then the bugs are unbearably annoying as a direct result of this so I buy this bad boy and boom no more bugs and it's kept me from ripping my hair out. The design is nice and the only reason for four stars instead of five is because of the safety of using it while not being home. Not sure that's a wise thing to do.....but I still love love love this light works like a charm!!
Get this one!
September 29, 2015
Good quality, and same day delivery, I've tried many of these zappers, but so far this is the best one, no lure or unknown chemicals is required, the only thing that they need to reconsider seriously is to have a bigger tray, as sometime the larger flies when zapped are thrown about 6-8 inches...other than that, I'll buy another one...
Execute them
June 1, 2015
I barely got it in time. That is, it arrived on time----- the day before the skeeters came in clouds. I would give it a five star but since I have only had it a few days, I can't know how well it holds up or how long the bulbs will last. The sound doesn't bother me, in fact I like hearing those bugs bite the dust. I should say the sound does startle my Pomeranians but I am sure a few more days and they won't notice it.It kills about 20 skeeters a day and a few millers (they will soon be a lot more of them coming). I do have to say that several of those biters had to have a ''last meal' from me before they went to their execution. I keep my windows and doors closed but bugs do find a way in. I imagine some are coming in the pet door. So far I am very happy with the machine but do have to keep my fly swatter handy. The flies usually arrive shortly after the millers leave. Hope it knocks down the millers and flies when they arrive in droves. I live in a small town and most of my neighbors have horses so insects may be a bigger problem for me than for some city folks.

could be better, they run out of battery fast
August 6, 2017
these zappers are okay. could be better, they run out of battery fast, like only a couple hours, so i have to leave them plugged in most of the time. also the purple light could be stronger, i watch bugs fly by like it is not even on. But it works, just not great with the purple light for the litle bugs, the white light is nice and bright and zaps a lot of moths.
Amazon won't replace it. When it works it is excellent!
June 15, 2016
If you send it back soon enough they will replace it. I am on my third one now. Frankly, when it works it is just excellent. Zap, zap, zap. Canned air will clean it up just fine.Big Post Script! Quit working. Bought June 9, it is Aug. 24th now. Amazon won't replace it.Old review. I have used this for a week on my patio. It has rained like crazy here in central Tx and the mosquitoes are horrid. Yesterday I emptied the tray and there were hundreds and hundreds of dead winged critters. The only thing I don't like is cleaning it. It would be wonderful if one could take it apart and clean it with the hose!!!! In the debris there were a few moths, flies and mostly mosquitoes. No bees.
For what it is, it works okay. I ...
November 28, 2015
For what it is, it works okay. I went with a cordless zapper because I have a dog who likes to chew on things outside. I need a zapper because I live in a semi-rural area and there are a lot of bugs. When I would open the door to let the dogs in of a night, a plethora of bugs would fly into the house.I placed the zapper under the light and it helped. Unfortunately, the charge does not last for very long. Also, it is not very strong. Often I would open the bottom of the zapper to clean out the bugs. Several bugs would still be alive in the trap.
Jury is still out.
October 13, 2015
So far this works well. I've used it roughly a dozen times. If I have any trouble with this like others have expressed I will update my post. I have not tried to clean of the zapper wires yet. (The dead bugs really like to stick to it)Can not find a replacement charging cord. If something happens to your cord your out $30.
Delicate, not well made, poor battery life
August 8, 2015
This product is fragile, made of brittle light-weight plasic. The battery life per charge is very poor. You can not leave this unit on overnight, as the battery will completely discharge (seems to last 4 to 5 hours max). If you let it run completely down, it will greatly shorten it life expectancy of the battery. The so-called "lantern" function is a joke; 2 LEDs that may illuminate to about 1 meter out if you're in a deep dark cave. But even with ambient starlight, the LEDs offer almost no perceptible increase in the level of illumination. The ON/OFF switch is 3-position; BugZap mode, Off, and Lantern. The OFF position is fine, but I have to fiddle with the switch to get the BugZap mode to remain on, and likewise to get the Lantern mode to remain on. Not a high-quality product. Sorry to be negative.
Not as helpful as we originally though
March 31, 2015
The battery for this light is very short lived. It does work and will the little buggers but it's only good for about 3 hours. But then we don't usually sit out for more than 3 hours in the evening so it will work for us.After trying insect zapper for one evening and then using for about an hour the next night we decided to return it for a Flowtron 1/2 acre insect zapper. We already have a 1.5 acre Flowtron in the backyard that works great. It's just not as practical as we originally thought to use the battery operated model. The battery runs out very quickly needing to be recharged again. It would be nice to be able to leave it on all night to rid our front porch of a larger number of pesky bugs but that was just not an option with this zapper.

Decent until it decides it's quitting time...
January 28, 2017
I've had this zapper since mid-July 2016 and it has worked well through mid-January 2017. All of a sudden, it stopped working. When you flip the power switch, usually nothing happens, but sometimes it will arc between the two grid sets at a random location. I've thoroughly cleaned the grid cage and do not see any scorch marks or other imperfections on the grid that would be causing this. The unit is definitely drawing power when on as measured by a watt meter, and attaching a voltmeter between the grids does give a pretty high reading although it also causes the meter to make a buzzing sound which does not seem good :) Overall, a decent buy for the money though I wish it would have lasted longer or failed for a more obvious reason.
Vertical bars prevent access to wide wingspan insects - e.g. moths.
September 18, 2016
The protective grid is arranged in vertical bars which are close together preventing larger insects with a wider wingspan, in my case I had a moth problem - I watched one trying to reach the light and it couldn't find a way in. I returned this product and bought a similar version that has the bars aligned horizontally - that solved my moth issue.
Fifty Fifty chance of working for long period of time.
August 26, 2016
I bought 2 of these. I waited until summer to take them out of the box. I installed both of them in my garage, One quit working after a week as It would no longer kill bug that would crawl all over the inner shocking wires. The other one works just fine thus far. I would not buy again.

UPDATE - doesn't work with replacement bulbs. This zapper is great - it even works with flies
December 31, 2015
UPDATE - the Zapper was great until I had to change the light bulbs - that was a HUGE chore and almost impossible to do without breaking something. Finally got the bulb changed using the correct replacement bulbs and now it doesn't work at all. Just watch a huge moth walk all over the bulb with no problem. This zapper is great - it even works with flies, when many other zappers don't. I am going to buy another one for outside during the summer to keep the flies down around my compost.
The 2 star down ding is mostly due to the poor trap design
October 27, 2015
We live in Northern Idaho and even with screens, flies get in and we were tired of going out on fly safaris. We have a large kitchen and dining area so the unit was placed on the window sill by the pantry and went to work. I does its job well. The 2 star down ding is mostly due to the poor trap design. It needs to sit on a Vee capture tray as the zaps toss out bits of flies that would mostly be captured otherwise. So I have sill and floor cleanup to do with this unit. So add some more space on the bottom with an external Vee basin and you're good to go.

Stinks. Literally, smells like burning plastic.
September 10, 2017
I really haven't gotten to use this that much as the product emits a horribly strong burning plastic smell. Was making me sick. I'll set it out by itself for awhile and see if the smell burns off. But honestly, right now, it is unusable.

Does not work as well as a plug in zapper. Ok for the price.
wished it lasted longer
May 23, 2016
Works OK while it lasted. Some Bugs are eventually drawn to it and zapped while others ignored it completely at night. Moths seem to rush at it while mosquitoes ignored it. Zapper lasted 3 months then the purple light got really dim then the unit began smoking. After that unit never worked again. Bulb looks OK but the circuits inside it may be fried.
Good look - poor results
September 18, 2015
I bought this to deal with the flying insects that keep coming inside our house. We have had an unusually bad problem with flying insects coming in the house this year so I chose this as a possible solution to the problem. It seems that neither the scent cartridge or the light is good enough to attract the insects because they seem to completely ignore this thing. Since I bought it I have zapped exactly 2 flying insects, the rest have been terminated by using the good old fashion fly swatter. I would guess that this thing would have better success outside where the insect population is so astonomical that it would be statistically impossible for this thing to not zap a lot of insects. I can say that I love the way it looks and its overall design.
It will kill moths and basically nothing else
July 24, 2015
I bought the bug zapper in order to try to clear out bugs from a section near my house where my garbage and recycling bins sit. If the bins got too full and the lid popped up bugs would gather around them. There isn't a power outlet near the area so a rechargable zapper seemed great. It basically kills moths like crazy and nothing else, and the moths weren't the concern. I've put it out during the day and overnight in both the lantern mode and black light mode. All it ever attracted were moths. After it became apparent this wasn't doing the job I put fly paper up where I had placed this, and that proved infinitely more effective. If you want to kill moths, go with this, but if need to get rid of other insects you're better off with flypaper.
Disappointed
August 10, 2014
I have an awful mosquito problem and so far, I haven't been able to tell any difference when I put the Zapper out. I water my plants during the day. I have turned on the zapper and hung it on a shepherd's hook at one corner of the patio about 5 minutes prior to going out to water. I still get bites and I didn't notice any mosquitoes being zapped. I checked the drawer as well and didn't see any bugs. I was very excited to try this, so I am disappointed. I'm not giving up, though. I will keep trying.

Bulbs works no zap?
June 9, 2017
Florescent bulbs work but no zap on the grid? Anyone have any ideas?
Buy somethng else!
March 12, 2017
This device worked fine for 6 weeks short of a year. One day it wouldn't turn on. The grid was hot but no lights. Turns out it was the electronic ballast died. There are two electrolytic capacitors that were swollen. After replacing them it works fine. Too short of a life for somethng like this, spend a little more money up front to get somethng durable.
Pest Sentry Failed after Nine Months
November 2, 2016
I understand now why this product only has a 62% approval rating. I purchased mine in December 2015 and hung it in our home's utility room. So it wouldn't have to work all the time, and hopefully last longer, I plugged it into a timer so it would only operate at night. It generally did a good job, killing gnats, moths, and small flies but by June one of the blubs had burned out. I ordered another from the manufacturer for $9.95 (1/3 the cost of the entire device) and it continued to work until September when the unit simply died. All the wiring was intact, the blubs tested fine in a similar device, and there was no obvious indication why the device would not work. As the saying goes "you get what you pay for" and at $32.95 I guess I shouldn't have expected too much. But by only using it our home, and limiting the time it operated with a timer, I would have expected the device to last longer than nine months.
it was a nice looking machine

I was having problem with mosquitos in bedroom. Kept this thing plugged in for a week. Not a single bug was caught or zapped. Blue light it emitted was very bright and interfered with sleep. Other than these two problems, it was a nice looking machine. Sent it back and got refund. Used that money to buy a tube of "skin so soft" cream from Amazon and mosquitos don't bother me.
Worked Great For 3 Weeks
May 15, 2016
Loved it! Zapped all day long and easy to clean. Three weeks later (today) and just realized it's no longer zapping bugs. They are just flying around in there like its a normal light. Thank God for Amazon's 30-day return policy. Trying another brand. I'm using this outdoors, but under a completely covered porch.
It Worked until it burnt out after <1 year.

Was a 5 star review but the zapper died after 10 months of use. And it seems to be a complete electrical failure.I am not certain there is any warranty process.___________This is basically 2 black lights surrounded by an electric cage, bugs fly into it and get zappedPros:- It works- Good protective cage, kids/pets are safe- Easy to clean- No UV or other concerns, it is simply a black light.Cons:- Would be nice if a bit brighter

Piece of crap!!

Piece of crap!!! Doesn't kill anything! In fact, flies and mosquitos landed on top of it and nothing happened! All day in my backyard, while I was being bitten by bugs, not a single one appeared in the drawer dead!

It didn't zap anything
Worthless
August 26, 2017
Completely useless. If there is any form if illumination order than it, it utterly fails to attract insects. If you aren't using it in the dark, you might as well not be using it. I literally placed it RIGHT NEXT to a couple flies, and they flew away without a second look. About the only thing on this that works, is the lantern function; and a dollar store flashlight does better than even that. The only reason it's one star, is because I can't go lower.

Stopped working and because it wasn't a high priority I missed the return window by five days. There are some things that should not be purchased online, or at least with Amazon. The only reason I gave it one star is because it's required, really didn't deserve it.
Great Usage Until It Turned Into A Smokestick!
June 15, 2017
Worked great for 1 season (~12 times), on the second use of the second season it ran out of battery... I turned it off and put it on the charger. Apparently this caused an issue as now whenever I turn on the UV bulb it just smokes.

Aggravating! 2nd one we bought and quit working the same year.. won't buy another one and wouldn't suggest you waste you money with it either

Zap!
November 15, 2016
Update ** 4 months after purchase and it blew up. We thought at first it was a bulb, so we purchased replacements. The socket for the one that exploded apparently was damaged because the new bulb did not work. Tried switching them around, and nothing works. So very disappointed. In and out, in and out; and the flying aggravaters seem to multiply! Purchased this handy dandy little trickster of mosquitoes, moths, and flys. Not 5 minutes plugged in for service did a noticeable yet welcoming "ZAP" stop me in my tracks. Did it work that fast, really? Sure enough, i peered at the catch tray and what did I see but one moth upside down and not flying. I am a happy owner of this fantastic product! Been working like a charm since that first ZAP!
works great! until the bulbs died after a few months.
September 23, 2016
love it. i see 6-12 bugs per day. i had a dozen fruit flies, hiding... it works great!UPDATE: After a few months of use, both bulbs died. it costs about 20$ to replace both UV bulbs.... I kept it on for night use only.
Poor quality, poorly made!!!
August 22, 2016
I got the same product as the other one star guy. Bought in April died in July. Both lights went out, tried to remove the lights but the were glued to the ballasts really hard to get out and realized the ballasts were of very low quality. Very difficult finding the replacement lights, they don't seem to be a standard item, only to find that someone had put 10W bulbs in a 20W bug zapper. Tried to put the old lights back into to see if maybe they just need to be reseated and found the ballasts were all screwed up (probably why the bulbs were glued in). Very disappointing product. It did seem to zap the bugs while it worked. Won't be buying anything from Pest Sentry again.
Power Supply BURNT! FIRE HAZARD?
August 5, 2016
Power Supply BURNT! FIRE HAZARD? One bulb stopped working after four nights' usage. The second one failed two days later. Unfortunately I missed the return window by one day due to laziness/work/vacation etc. Anyway, I'm an engineer so I figured I would bite the bullet, take it apart, buy extra bulbs and replace them. Lo and behold my surprise when I found out that the circuit board which powers the bulbs was burnt. It appears that the insulation of the wires above it got too hot, melted, shorted out the power stage and the whole center of the board got fried taking down entire lighting stage. Or, the circuit board burnt first then melting/burning the insulation of the wires above it. In any case, the unit is kaput. The high-voltage section for the bug-zapping is still functional being a simple step-up transformer. In any case, I've just ordered a bug zapper from a competitor and hopefully it will fare better. Luckily, there was no damage other than the unit and my view of the manufacturer. I also now have two extra bulbs for the new device (they're the same).
Died after 10 months!
January 17, 2016
It only lasted exactly 10 months! Both lights went out so I know it's completely dead!-----------------Savor the sweet satisfying snapping sounds of fried fly. It kills flies instantly, but it doesn't attract them very well. I placed it in several locations, floor level, counter top, hanging on wall, etc. but it usually attracts the small flies (which I didn't even know I had) and not the bigger flies. The first day it snapped about two dozen flies - about one per hour - two dozen I did not have to chase down. It's very satisfying to hear the snapping sounds in the middle of the night to know it's working. Normally I am let-and-let-live, but these flies are harassing me and bullying me. One even tried to fly up my nose!
Worked well out of the box but died before the first turn...
September 27, 2015
This is a bug killing machine, initially. We have had this just over one month and it no longer works - lights are on but it has stopped killing bugs. As it is just over one month it cannot be returned so I am trying to find warranty information. What I am finding is that both Amazon and the seller make returning an item or getting a refund after 30 days very difficult.

User Overview
  • Kaz vs Lasko

Wow... With the Kaz height at 1292.5 inches, width at 324 inches and length of 423.2 inches, the Lasko with 920.5"X 283.1"X 999.2"... Hope they're unassembled, but still, way too big for my house. I'm still thinking about getting one for the barn, if i can find the space to put it.
