Five Star Reviews: | 64% My snowflakes look just like the photos & I make my own fondant and ... December 11, 2015 I saw the negative reviews from "experienced gumpaste/fondant users". I thought the same thing when I first got the stamps. The fondant wouldn't release, I realized the stamp portion wasn't pushing out past the cutting outer edge. I remembered that I saw a video where a lady disassembled her plungers so I decided to try something. I turned the knob "lefty losey" a few times and the push part then extended out past the cutter releasing the fondant. It seams these must be turned too tight from the factory making it so the plunger part won't extend out to release the fondant/gumpaste. My snowflakes look just like the photos & I make my own fondant and am NOT a "expert". For the price and free shipping you can't beat it! I read reviews were experts hated them. December 8, 2015 I read reviews were experts hated them...I am not an expert but I had absolutely no problem with the 2 larger ones...I did dust the insides well with powder sugar first...pushed fondant down well made sure the sides were clean of excess and they plunged right out...These are much better than any Mold you can buy and the detail is awesome... Perfect for a "Frozen" themed cake or a winter/Christmas cake...the larger one is perfect on cupcakes...I let the fondant dry and stood them up....cute....I can not say if the smallest one is good or not...I did not try it...I will assume the smallest one would be difficult to remove fondant from...Shipping was on time and I will order other products of this type from this company..... Perfect for your Frozen cake! November 12, 2015 I bought these for, what else, a Frozen cake and was so happy with them! The level of detail is so amazing. These have a 3d effect that looks so nice. This was my first set of plunger cutters and I've since acquired many more because they're so easy to use and the results are so clean and professional looking. If you're new to these I have a few pointers. Once you've put the cutter on the fondant/gum paste and pushed the plunger clear away any extra fondant/gum paste and instead of picking the cutter straight up, do it at an angle. This will make it so your material stays in the cutter and you can run your finger around the edges to make your cutout more defined. I usually make my cutouts in white and color them once they've dried using petal or shimmer dust. perfect for a frozen birthday cake. May 18, 2015 ordered these to make fondant snowflakes for my daughter's birthday cake and they were fantastic. i had ordered another set first, and these have a tapered cutting edge which made it a million times easier to make clean edges on the snowflakes. Nice cutter March 19, 2015 A very nice cutter. I have used it with fondant and modeling chocolate. Some of the detail doesn't always come out perfect on the smallest cutter, but just be sure to powder the top with cornstarch or powdered sugar and they should come out fine. They work great the trick is to go over the design with ... October 12, 2014 They work great the trick is to go over the design with a thumb or spoon once the fondant is in the cutter its going to make sure you have sharp edges and no extra fondant or gum paste. | 89% Great Product April 22, 2017 I received my Pie Server and I'm very happy with it. I finally threw away my old server which I've had for many many years. I love the serrated edge. It's so easy to cut Pies. I even tried it on my homemade Bread, worked great. My package arrived on the day expected and packaged very well. Box was a nice presentation and great as a gift. I highly recommend this Pie Server to everyone both Family and Friends and everyone out there who might be on the fence. Thanks to the Seller for offering us such a great product and price. Thanks again. :) SERVE UP A WINNER.... April 28, 2016 I finally bought myself a real pie server & slicer. I have been using a spatula and always making a mess. It is just too big to grab a slice of pie or cake without it falling all over. So, I picked this one out and I'm glad I did. It is awesome in that it slices perfectly. It has edges that slice and it scoops out a perfect piece. Well made and fits nice in my hand. Good quality also. Glad I finally have one. Would recommend Great Gift for Mom!! March 3, 2016 It was a gift for my mother whose hands are affected by rheumatoid arthritis. She loves it!! It has a great design, and it is well made. OR BLUE PIE AND CAKE SERVER December 8, 2015 This is one of the best pie and cake accessory I ever had the pleasure of buying. It is sturdy without being cumbersome and has all the features needed for nice neat cutting and lifting. The reason I bought yours over the others shown was ... December 6, 2015 The reason I bought yours over the others shown was because of the cutting edge so as to be able to cut the crust as you cut the pie Great addition to my kitchen November 30, 2015 Worked wonderfully on Thanksgiving for both cake and pie serving. Smooth slicing on both moist birthday cake and sticky pecan pie. Liked the nice size grip of the handle for easy use. |
Four Star Reviews: | 16% Ok January 16, 2016 Worked ok however they tend to get stuck so they don't allow the fondant to pop out like it should. I purchased others at Hobby Lobby, they got stuck also, so I guess it's just the way they are designed. As a hobby baker I didn't anticipate these being perfect fondant cutters - especially for the price December 29, 2015 As a hobby baker I didn't anticipate these being perfect fondant cutters - especially for the price. I just wanted them for the basic shape because of my daughters and their latest obsession with a certain princess movie. While it does cut the fondant, the detailed parts of the cutter are pretty thick, so they don't create clean cuts in the fondant. You're left with a little "edge" of fondant on the more detailed areas. It doesn't bother me but if looking for more professional, cleaner cuts I suggest buying another cutter. This press makes beautiful snowflakes if you have the time and patience to ... August 11, 2015 This press makes beautiful snowflakes if you have the time and patience to work with it. If you are looking to press and go you will end up with a lot of excess material and it won't look like the pictures. The trick I found was to cut it, flip it over (leave it in the press) and thrn press the fondant down over the edges (taking away the edges). You need to then use a knife and make sure all the little pieces in between actually pulled away, then you can flip it back over, press down (to create the design) and release it. It takes a good 2 minutes a snowflake but the results are very nice. Look super cute, the middle one came apart right out ... April 28, 2015 Look super cute, the middle one came apart right out of the package but was an easy fix. That's the only reason I gave it four stars. ... are a bit flimsy feeling but they worked just fine. For the price I'd order again April 13, 2015 They are a bit flimsy feeling but they worked just fine. For the price I'd order again. Love it! Just doesn't make a clean cut! January 30, 2015 Really cute snow flake cutter and I love the it presses to give it more detail but because the detail is so fine and jt made from plastic it does not make a clean cut. I have to re cut with a knive but other than that I love it! | 7% Pretty decent pie server October 24, 2016 This pie server is pretty cool and exactly what I thought that it would be when I brought it. I thinkt that I was a little disappointed because the cutting side of the server isn't as sharp and doesn't work completely that well. Although I am not sure that anything works better than an actual sharp knife. The handle felt well in my hand and I really have no complaints, it was a great buy. but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Shipped fast with Prime and arrived right ... August 10, 2016 Ordered a pie server, because I've always had issues getting that first piece of cake out. This was a lot more lightweight than I thought it'd be, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Shipped fast with Prime and arrived right on time! |
Three Star Reviews: | 9% But it was an easy fix. Not sure if the fit will be ... July 3, 2017 The smallest one break when it arrived. But it was an easy fix. Not sure if the fit will be forever. Arrived Broken January 20, 2016 Haven't had a chance to use them yet but I noticed as soon as I took them out of the package the medium sized one was broken. Bought them for a cake I'm making this weekend to no time to return. Guess I'll be making big and small snowflakes only. As pictured however when punching it out the punch does ... December 18, 2015 As pictured however when punching it out the punch does not go all the way down so they do not pop out and ends up messing up the snowflake. but the details of this mold cutter are so delicate that I have a hard time getting a nice mold with the Model Magic I'm using August 24, 2015 I will admit that I didn't buy this for fondant, so I can't complain, but the details of this mold cutter are so delicate that I have a hard time getting a nice mold with the Model Magic I'm using. They function perfectly, but what ever you're using them with needs to have some strength of it's own to hold the detail. They are cute, I wish I could say I'd had better luck with them. and these were pretty hard to use August 10, 2015 I'm no professional, and these were pretty hard to use. The detail is so great in them, the fondant kept sticking to them, perhaps if it wasn't 100 degrees when I was trying to use them I may have had different results. Over all they served the purpose and was a perfect size for the top of a million cupcakes. The smallest stamp broke after 3 uses and the finished snowflakes were not very clean or precise. June 25, 2015 This set worked okay. The design is exactly as pictured. The smallest one broke; it was easy to put back together, but it keeps getting stuck after each use now and needs to be taken apart and reassembled to use again. There are lots of nooks and crannies to this design, and the plunger did not push all the way through to force the fondant out, so we ended up with lots of messy snowflakes. Managed a few decent ones (maybe 1 out of every 5 attempts) so we got enough to use on the cake we needed these for. Maybe I got a bad set, but they didn't produce anything as clear and delicate as pictured. | 2% OK, but not as nice as I thought it would be May 1, 2017 Not as nice as it looked in the picture or easy to use. It's k, would not reorder. Nice looking cake and pier server April 16, 2017 This is a nice looking cake/pie server but rather lightweight. It looks better than it feels but it does the job. If I saw it in a store, I probably wouldn't buy it. However, I wouldn't return it either because it looks good. I got what I Paid for. Not special garden variety Pie Server... March 3, 2017 Some what disappointed as I expected something with a little more heft. Very light and the tang into the handle in my opinion is not made for the long haul. Quite honestly it feels and looks like a garden variety pie server. Would not recommend to family or friends.... A tad small January 9, 2017 Size is a little small for a pie knife- would have liked it a little bigger. |
Two Star Reviews: | 3% Poor quality April 19, 2016 These are okay. I was able to get some usable pieces, but the cutters are not angled or sharp on the bottom AT ALL so it doesn't really cut through the fondant. I had to turn the cutter over with the fondant still attached and cut the fondant by pressing it down hard with my fingers. Also, the plungers are cheaply made. The part that should come forward to pop the snowflake out does not fit the hole and kept getting stuck until one of the arms broke off. I liked the plunger aspect but I still had to grease ... June 18, 2015 Mine only came with 2 of the 3 cutters, and I had a cake due so no time to get a replacement set. I liked the plunger aspect but I still had to grease the molds pretty heavily. If you push down too hard the plunger part can slip, then when you use it to get the fondant out it doesn't push it out far enough. It's easy enough to get the plunger back in place but very annoying when you have to cut a million stars for a Frozen birthday cake. ... with a firmer fondant and see if that works better, did not come in a storage case like ... April 23, 2015 only used 1 time so far my difficult getting fondant out of mold and keeping shape maybe my fondant was too soft one of these days will try with a firmer fondant and see if that works better, I'm a pretty experienced gum paste and fondant crafter February 2, 2015 The snowflakes in the example photo must not be fondant material, just be cardboard paper or digitally enhanced. These snowflake cut outs are so hard to use and the fractals or whatever the micro branches are called keep getting stuck. This is impossible. I'm a pretty experienced gum paste and fondant crafter, and I'm telling you. This stuff is tough. Took over 3 weeks to arrive. | 1% Not Very Strong September 30, 2016 Not so sturdy and did not cut through a frozen pie crust. I would not recommend this product. Disappointed; looks and feels cheap January 13, 2016 First thing I noticed was that this looks and feels flimsy. It will serve it's purpose, though. But I was just expecting a better quality product and had I known what I was going to get with this, I would have just settled for one from a local big box store and saved myself a few bucks. There is no way this is "worth" the suggested $20.00 retail price it shows as. I will be taking this to potlucks, so obviously it is not that nice because I am willing to have it be "lost" at a potluck..so, just disappointed, I guess. Again, it will serve the purpose just fine, but it just looks and feels cheap..Sorry to go against the positive reviews, but I gotta call it like I see it/feel it.. |
One Star Reviews: | 8% Worst idea ever November 16, 2015 If I could give it negative stars, I would. These didn't work AT ALL! The fondant just got stuck and gummed up in the cutters. not very easy to get perfect or even usable pieces November 10, 2015 The fondant continually broke at the branches of the snowflake, not very easy to get perfect or even usable pieces. Zero Stars! Junk! August 16, 2015 Two out of the three cutters broke on the first use! These are junk- do not order. The spring mechanism inside the plunger breaks within one to two cuts. The worse part- I can't return them (it's been over a month). Biggest waste of money! Very disappointing July 1, 2015 These are basically useless. No matter how hard I press down on them, the edges aren't sharp enough to cut the fondant with a clean edge. worthless plastic junk February 10, 2015 I make cakes for special occasions and I'm not a beginner cake maker. These molds are completely useless. No matter what consistency or thickness I roll the fondant, I cannot get the mold to cut cleanly or release the fondant. They would work fine as a stamp but if you attempt to use them to cut out snowflakes, it's not going to work. I'd give it 0 stars if possible. These are not like the ones I borrowed January 21, 2015 I borrowed a set of fondant snowflake cutter and wanted my own set. These are not like the ones I borrowed. The cutting edge is very thick and does not cut well. They are very time consuming to use because you have to clean the edges up so much. | 1% Very, very poor quality June 25, 2017 It is a really cheaply made unit. I gave it to my children and was embarrassed at how poor the quality was. If I had seen it first before it was shipped to them I would have thrown it away. LEAKS after cleaning September 19, 2016 I have had two of these sent to me and BOTH after washing retain water in the handle and it drips out rusty water when trying to use the tool. It is not sealed were the blade meets the handle. I can't believe I have not seen this issue on any of the other comments. The worse pie server I ever use should be pizza April 12, 2016 The worse pie server I ever use should be pizza, server shallow pan only if used for put it cut thru center destroy pie .does not even get under pie Jesse's the pie so bad you a shame to server or eat it a total waste I even told them so and all they said was ok nothing about the one I got stuck |
