I didn't hesitate to buy another.
August 22, 2017
I've had a couple of big green Flexogens in my yard for about 12-15 years now, and when I say 'in the yard' I mean that's where they stay all year long, rain or shine (though it rarely freezes). I don't take very good care of them, to be honest. They've sat out in scorching sun for days on end and get dragged around. I'm not proud of it, just reporting the facts. I recently replaced the fittings on one, but the hoses are still amazingly kink and problem free.

I love it when I can praise a product. Gilmour has been hit or miss with me, but their flagship Flexogens have proven themselves tough. I didn't even consider another brand when shopping for a lighter-duty one that I could use watering plants in the back. An expandable hose was out of the question - expensive, and would last under a year if I was lucky. You know how I feel about babying yard products.

When it arrived I never thought I'd say this, but that's one good looking hose. I couldn't wait to hook it up. It's been in almost daily use for one year this month with no issues.

I'm at a loss to explain the reviews showing a ballooned hose, as I had never experienced that, but my eyes can see the pictures. Something like this happens when manufacturing moves offshore, but Flexogens are still made in Missouri, USA. The only thing I did differently is not keeping them pressurized because even I won't go that far. It's a puzzle, but they do have a lifetime warranty and accept photos from their website.
Light in weight, heavy in satisfaction.
July 17, 2017
This hose is light in weight. But, it feels strong and well made. I have used it several times and it has never kinked. The couplings (metal parts), are very well made. If you need a hose that will handle a large volume of water, you'd best get a 5/8 inch hose, or even a 3/4 inch. This 1/2 inch hose is easier to handle than those thicker hoses. But, it can't handle as much water as a thicker hose. Also, this 75 foot hose is pretty long. If you have a small yard with a faucet nearby, a 50 foot hose will probably work just fine.
Its a Hose. Water Ran Thru It, so I was happy.
December 15, 2016
This hose is well made and worth the money. I purchased 2 cheaper hoses prior to this one and wanted to return both of them to the person who made them and kick them in the butt for selling me crap. This hose rocks. So much so I will be sending a card to the manufacturer to thank them. Just kidding. Of course, but yeah. It works great, the end connections are well made and water flows nicely. I like water to flow vs not, so buy it. You'll like it
Light flexible hose
May 21, 2016
I like this hose more than I thought. Being a little smaller diameter it's very light compared to the heavy hose I had last time. This also makes it easy for my 5 year old daughter to handle it. My old hose loss flexibility over time becoming very stiff. This is so flexible and lightweight in comparison.
fabulous construction
September 5, 2013
hello,
well, we will all learn that sometimes the latest lightweight product like the curly hoses just do not last very long. the gilmour name has been associated with quality garden hoses for years and we still have one in our yard. but, we needed to try one of those curly hoses for convenience. it took three punctures from cracks in the thin wall curly hose to get us to go back to a light weight 1/2 inch hose for our yard watering needs. the gilmour has super quality metal ends and if there happens to be a leak sometime down the line, everyone sells hose repair kits. have you ever tried to find a hose repair kit for a curly hose? (shoe goo and sealing tape did the job until the next leak popped up) this gilmour hose is lightweight and there is no need for a massive 5/8 or larger hose for our yard watering needs. now this hose is quality and there was the super fast delivery, too.

this is a great hose.
April 17, 2017
Probably deserve a 5 star for flex and solid construction but I just got 2 and don't want to be too over the top. But, hands down, this is a great hose.
Works great, but certainly is not kink-less
August 27, 2016
Works great, but certainly is not kink-less. In fact, the longer Ive owned it (1-2 months), the more it seems to kink.
The reason I give it 4 stars: its the only hose Ive ever owned so I have very little to base it off of, except my mother (I bought one of these for her too). Earlier in the year she bought a 10 dollar hose which brought her nightmares. Not only did it kink up right, left and center, but to unkink it felt that she was stretching or unraveling the hose in such a way that she thought it might burst open at the kink. Since buying her this hose, she's been very happy with it.
This hose is solid, sort of like a snake, alive and well with its multiple layers. While it does kink, it is also very forgiving, and easily unkinked. And while its not perfect, I picture my mother with that 10 dollar hose and know that this was a great purchase for both of us.
Durable and reliable
July 5, 2016
Very reliable garden hose. The metal coupling is secure and has kept the water from leaking out of the spout. This was a must for me so I could save on my water bills. The actual material the hose itself is made of is pretty thick and less flimsy than other hoses for the same price. The only thing that I've found is that it does still kink despite its claims that it doesn't. I just bought another one for my backyard because it is a quality product.
Update: Flexogen (Fiskars) is sending a replacement hose!
June 24, 2016
Well made, quality product.
UPDATE: this hose began to ripple. I think the burst strength has become marginalized.
Out of Amazons hands now, referred me to Flexogen and they won't answer my emails.
So much for their warranty!
UPDATE: A replacement hose is on the way from Fiskars, parent company of Flexogen. Caught me by surprise, as no one from Flexogen bothered to tell me...however, assuming that is my surprise arrival, I would give Flexogen high marks for standing behind their products!
smaller size hose is easier to drag around
June 26, 2015
I purchased this hose because it is one of the few good quality 1/2 inch hoses that are available. Most good quality water hoses are either 5/8 inch or 3/4 inch.

The only problem with the larger diameter hoses is that they are heavier, especially when filled with water. Unless you need to put out a large fire, a 1/2 inch hose should supply plenty of flow. There are some smaller hoses (3/8 inch) that I like even better, for the same reason, but those cost about twice as much as this hose, so this one is "good enough".

As far as the quality of the hose, I will have to wait a few years to see if it holds up, but it seems to be pretty good, about the same as the larger diameter hoses that are generally available, such as the larger diameter Flexogen hoses.

May 16, 2017
Its a nice hose but Super Duty is a bit of an exaggeration. I bought this, hoping, I could leave pressure in the line; connecting my hose bib to a secondary hose around back.Getting a fairly constant 60psi, the hose is stretched and looks like it might burst if I leave it on. Not as "super" as advertised. Nice hose for general uses.
Kinks easily
February 17, 2017
I got this for the gray color. Works fine but kinks really easy.
Kinking or shrinking - it is a matter a value
September 2, 2014
Fist time I used it had to stop pulling out to go undo kinks - three times. After I have put it up with large loops it is down to two. It is fairly light weight so 75' is not too hard to handle. I am back to a "standard" hose after going through many of the new collapsible ones. Just can't afford them. From the very cheap to the very expensive a season of watering, perhaps once a week, cost over $200 in hoses, in a climate where watering is only a four month season., Even though some were still under warranty by the time you jump through the hoops and pay shipping there is really no warranty even with the ones I paid over $50 each. So I am sure the Gilmour will give me may seasons of unkinking. In the world of standard hoses perhaps this one deserves more stars - certainly is better than the shrinking ones, at least till they get them right - Solid brass fittings does not mean a thing if it splits in the middle!
Inconsistent
May 27, 2014
Ordered my first one of these two years ago and fell in love. Best hose I've ever used. Couldn't kink it if I tried. Worked great, lightweight, easy to use, didn't leak, and again...even two years later, not one single kink. I told all of my family and friends to get one of these if they needed a new hose.So...since I loved the first one so much, I bought a second to have on hand if I needed it for bigger jobs (only one hose bib on my house). Only used it a couple of times and kept it stored either indoors or in the shade outside. This summer I've been tackling some larger-scale yard projects and have had to use the second one a lot and it kinks left and right. Just got through spraying the yard for bugs and I had to chase kinks over and over and over and over and over again. Very frustrating. Even looks a bit different from the first, despite being ordered only two months later. My good one has a smoother outer surface, the bad one has a less smooth surface and the "ribs" are more pronounced. The second one sometimes leaks a bit on the end that attaches to the faucet or the other hose. The difference in quality between the two of these I bought is pretty stark...and unfortunate. These have the potential to be fantastic hoses (5 stars), but there is also the potential of getting a lemon (2 stars). I'm batting .500. Good luck!
Not as happy with this hose as I hoped to be.
September 18, 2013
This is a good but not great hose. It winds and unwinds well. But the fact is the hose kinks and it claims to be a non-kink hose. I am generally happy but not thrilled with this purchase. If you want a hose which absolutely does not kink ever - buy a different product. This could disappoint you.

Too many failures
August 10, 2017

February 12, 2017
Started to bulge at points along the hose after a few uses. Seems like it might be fine if it will only ever be used for constant spray, but it can't hold up to the back-pressure of a typical sprayer handle.
I wish I had bought the more expensive hose
October 2, 2016
I bought this 07/2016 and by 08/2016 there are 2 permanent kinks and 1 kink that comes and goes. If I could do it over again I would spend the 5 or 10 extra dollars and buy a reinforced kinkless hose. This hose is listed as "kink resistant" and the description states that is wont kink at the faucet, which, mine has not. but the kinks in the other parts of the hose are a nuisance. The hose is not deterorrating and hooks up nicely to my faucet, thats why I can't give it a 1 star, but I will not buy this again, and would not recomend you buy it either.
Female end leaked out of the box, hose broke within a week.
July 27, 2016
I usually assume it's a fluke: There's bound to be a bad apple or two in every bushel. But after trying Gilmore soaker hoses for a while with similar results (supposed to last for eons, would last for a month), I'm starting to think it's the brand. I'm not *that* hard on my hoses, other than it does get to 100f where I live. But, Gilmore brags it's an all-weather hose. Guess not? Too bad, because I otherwise really liked the design, the non-kink, etc.
Disappointed with this purchase and return/exchange policy.
June 27, 2016
Well, a few days after I am no longer within the 30-day return window, I discover that the hose has bubbled up sporadically without warning, like a snake that's swallowed a bird's egg or something. I don't know if I'm not supposed to leave it outside or something, but I guess I would have expected a garden hose to be able to withstand some sunshine. It still functions about the same, but I am concerned about the long-term durability of a hose that's already misshapen after less than a month of light use. (Seriously, we only use it for about 3 minutes every few days. Then we turn it off and coil it up in the corner next to the house). If I'm missing something, please enlighten me. Otherwise, color me disappointed.
50% failure rate!
September 16, 2015
I bought two of these. After about a month, one started bulging in several places when under pressure. It seems defective to me. Now it's too late to return it to amazon. I wrote to the manufacturer and so far no response after two weeks. I am not a happy camper.UPDATE: It's now been about 2 1/2 months since I wrote to Gilmour about this. So far no response. I contacted them again today 10/11. Let's see what if anything they do.

Very Poor Quality, don't buy for long term use.
May 9, 2017
Less than 1 year hose is unusable!. The inner wall has broken down and swelled to the point no water comes out when water is supposed to be flowing. Junk, scrap rubber fits best description.
Great for a few months and then started leaking.
November 14, 2016
I bought two of these. I've had them about six months. One is for the front yard, and the other is for the back yard. Both have started to leak. It's not the hose itself that's leaking. It is the metal joint on the nozzle end that connects the threads to the rest of the hose. They have both started to forcibly spray tiny streams of water in a couple of different directions, so it is now impossible to use the hoses without getting completely drenched. I am most certainly not impressed.I'm editing this review because I tried to salvage one of the hoses by hooking it up to a sprinkler. That way I don't get drenched when using the sprayer. That was fine for a while, but over time the sprinkler started spitting out less and less water. When I went to investigate, I found that the hose, which had been sitting on the reel without being reeled or unreeled, had kinked on its own in several spots. Now, I can't reel up the hose at all in any way, shape, or form without kinking the hose.Spend some money and get a decent hose.
If you buy, check quickly
August 12, 2016
Received two of these back in June but didn't put them into use until the first week of August. Unfortunately for me, the window for return is past, and I'm stuck with two hoses that leak from the connection. Not the part that screws on, the part that is connecting to the hose itself. Water was going everywhere. They are not useable.
Also it kinks easily, despite the description
June 11, 2016
Used this hose for one week and it sprung a leak from the center. Also it kinks easily, despite the description.Update: I originally ordered two of these hoses. The first one was returned per the issue above. The second one was left on overnight by my kids and swelled up like a snake that swallowed a rat.
Don't waste your money
March 29, 2016
I've learned after owning many hoses over the years that what is true with most things is also true with hoses - you get what you pay for. I only bought this cheap hose because I was unable to find one of this length locally. Inexpensive, so expectations weren't very high. However, you would think any hose would last longer than this one did (and it was used during mild weather, so no expanding/contracting that causes leaks when hoses are left outside in very hot or cold weather). This one developed a hole in less than 2 months. Don't waste your money.
The last hose you'll ever buy (from Gilmour hoses)
May 27, 2014
This hose has lasted about 30 days - Now it has giant bubbles/blisters up and down its entire length. The hose is carefully coiled on a hose reel drum after each use and has been used 4 or 5 times only. I don't have high water pressure so that isn't the problem.8-ply construction ? 500 PSI burst strength.8 PLY OF PAPER?Resists kinkingRESISTS, BUT NOT FOR VERY LONG.Polished surface resists minor abrasions, stains and mildewPOLISHED SURFACE, BLISTERS AND BUBBLESFlow Guard Plus protective collar on 5/8 inch and 1/2 inch hoses, resists kinks at faucetHeavy-duty, crush resistant, Full-Flo machined metal couplings on 1 inch, 75 inch, 5/8 inch, with built-in washer for tight sealingSEALED GOOD - JUST ABOUT THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS HOSE.Oh - and just an FYI - Looking at the Gilmour website it appears that if your hose dies after the 30 amazon return period, Gilmour will want $5 to replace your hose..Edit 5/29/14Tried contacting Gilmour hoses via the webform on their website. After no response for 3 days I called them - they wanted me to cut the ends off and ship them back to IL whereupon they would get me a new hose shipped out. 14 Days they said. I said no way 14 days, how about a full refund and I'll buy another hose elsewhere. The phone went quiet for a minute and then they took my name and address and said they would ship one out straightaway. Lets wait and see!Edit 6/3/14While waiting for my new Gilmour hose to come I did a little plant watering with my blistered hose. As per other reviews the hose now constantly kinks up and down its entire length. The blisters are getting bigger and bigger.
