Great deal!
January 24, 2017
This set was surprising. I did not realize that I was getting three sets of couplers! I bought this as a gift for my sister for Christmas, as we both decorate cakes. When I realized that it was 3 sets, I kept one, and gave her two, and kept one for myself. If you buy this in the store, you get one coupler, some bags, and a couple tips. If you buy this, you get three sets of couplers, but no bags or tips. Honestly, I think this is the better deal. :)

Worked great. Easy to use.
Cut the bags correctly the first time!!!

Once I got my bags cut correctly it was super easy to use. Make sure your frosting is not too thick. Add a little milk if necessary and do NOT overfill bags. You can always add more. Have fun!

Once I got the hang of the 3 bags this was definitely worth the purchase! Very happy with the results! Would recommend to anyone looking to change it up.

I love it!

This is super easy to use and the cupcakes I made were a huge hit. Fill the bags AFTER connecting them. :) My old way of doing this was a pain in the butt. This makes it so easy.

Makes Decorating More Fun
June 16, 2016
This is a very nice little decorating set. It has 12 tips to choose from and can provide decorating fun for the whole family when making cupcakes. To prepare the bag just unscrew the tip of 1 of the couplings shove the wider back piece into the bag to the tip and screw the other coupling end back on then attach whatever tip you want to start with and fill with icing. They are pretty easy to clean (we hand wash ours). The cleaning brush makes cleaning the tips a breeze. This is our first decorating set and we all love it and find ourselves making more baked goods just to use it.
Great beginner kit
June 14, 2015
I'm a beginner when it comes to decorating cakes. I bought this set to decorate my first cake for my husband's birthday. The tips are sturdy and there is a good variety for writing and doing basic decorations. There are 2 bags which are easy to fill and handle. They're also easy to clean. It comes with a little brush so you can get into all of the crevices of the tips. The kit is small and fits easily into my kitchen drawer. The box is sturdy, so I know I won't have random tips in my drawer if it gets jostled around.
But this bag + tips were perfect for me
December 22, 2014
I am a total newbie - first time I've ever used a pastry bag - so maybe I have no business writing a review. But this bag + tips were perfect for me. I made and decorated large dog biscuits as Christmas gifts for friends. When I shopped for this it was hard to tell what to get without spending a bunch of time figuring out the conflicting info on the tip sizes and shapes. These worked out great. The bag is easy to clean. The tips are easy to change. Advice from a newbie: be careful about your frosting consistency. Directions in the package give some tips. It's worth getting it right. If you're making something more important than doggie treats, practice practice practice first with each tip you'll use.
Great Value
December 22, 2012
I bought this for my initial foray into decorating. It works great!I made one batch of royal icing (3 cups powdered sugar, 2 egg whites, 2 tsp lemon). I divided the batch in half. I added more sugar to one half so it was thicker for piping. I put that half into this bag. The entire half batch fit in this bag. I used the included #2 tip to outline 18 sugar cookies. There was no mess while piping; no leakage. When I was done I washed the bag and tip in warm soapy water and left it air dry. Then it was ready for the next time.I've uploaded some photos of my work (yellow stars and a gingerbread man). Please keep in mind I'm a complete newbie. This was the very first time I baked cookies and the first time I ever held a piping bag! I'm sure professionals would outgrow this bag asap. I actually bought a Wilton 16 Bag before seeing this Norpro. The Wilton is a much nicer bag; feels thicker and sturdier. But the Wilton is a bag only. I also had to buy couplers for it and an Ateco piping tip set. Total price was about $25. Oh and the piping set had two different size tips circumferences so the couplers only worked on half of them. I would have had to buy bigger couplers to use the other half of tips. Anyway, it was quickly becoming an expensive hobby lolSuffices to say I'm returning the Wilton gear. I can always repurchase if I get more into pastry decorating. However, for doing an occasional batch of sugar cookies this Norpro bag is perfect for my needs. For ~$7 this set is a great value. The included tips are:#2 Writing Tip#27 Star Tip#30 Large Start Tip#60 Petal Tip#67 Leaf Tip#98 Shell Tip(I've upload photos of the box front/back that illustrates the patterns these tips make.Hope that helps! Thanks :)
Nice CHEAP set
October 15, 2011
Read the instructions before you use/assemble this thing. If you don't put the pieces in properly or follow the directions about frosting types or how much to use -- of course you're going to either break it or end up with a giant mess. Seriously, it's not that complicated. For the price this thing is awesome and you can do some very basic decorating. You're probably not going to design anything that will get you on cupcake wars but you will make something that looks nice compared to just using a knife. Yes, the bag is small and the tips are extremely basic. If you want a pastry chefs set -- go to a foodie store and buy an expensive set. If you want an extremely basic set that will serve you well for the price -- this is a nice purchase.

Love this!
January 22, 2016
This is very fun for decorating with frosting. Once you get the bags all together it's awesome. I gave it a 4star because it is a little hard to have frosting in the bags and put them all together. So, what I did was put the product together first, with the bags on and then filled the frosting. However, you do need two people to do this once you have some frosting in one-two of them so it doesn't fall. My 10 year old frosted cupcake all by herself and they came out awesome. 👍🏻👍🏻
How fun is this!
September 19, 2015
First time user---cake decorating novice. But I must say that I love the Color Swirl! Here's what I learned as I went along:The buttercream frosting recipe that I made was the perfect consistency. I made about 2 cups of it and divided it into 3 small bowls to add 3 separate colors. It is more dramatic if you select three colors that are very distinct from one another, but it is also pretty to have subtle color distinctions, such as my teal and blue. I used this color gel:(AmeriColor Student Soft Gel Paste Food Color, 0.75 Ounce, 12 Pack Kit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029YDR82/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)I did not realize that the three pieces of the coupler are not interchangeable in their positions next to one another. After trying to force them together, I figured out that you have to make sure that each of the three pieces are in the correct spot for the right fit in order to move ahead with the tip placement. I thought I had a defective product before I figured out the positioning requirement. Perhaps the instructions could be expanded for us first-time users. Hence the 4-star rating.I used the 16" bags to allow more hand room and tied each bag off with the bag ties that I also bought---adding a final tie around all three bags once filled with buttercream frosting. It is a bit tricky to fill three bags because of the bulkiness but it helped to leave the bag on the table and fill horizontally instead of vertically. I used this bag ties:(Wilton Icing Bag Ties https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PBZHOS/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)I cut one of my three bag tip openings too large (whoops) so I had some oozing of the frosting above the coupler, but not enough to interfere with the decorating. And finally, I purposely did not want a huge pile of frosting on top of my cupcakes so I kept the frosting circling to a small mound for a better cake to frosting ratio. Perfect! The frosting easily covered 22 of my 24 cupcakes. Not bad for a first-timer! Sorry to read about others who ended up tossing the ColorSwirt 3 Color Coupler out right away in frustration. :-/ It was so fun for me--I am happy to own this decorating option!
Neat gadget
August 29, 2015
1st attempt was a little clunky, but it worked. Happy with the result as I could never do this on my own. I used store bought frosting. It doesn't take a professional decorator to use this contraption. The included directions aren't the best. I discovered that once the bags are filled, it's almost impossible (unwieldy) to put the 3 wedges together & get the tip & coupler on. I suggest prepping the bags with the tips & assembling the large tip/coupler BEFORE filling with frosting. To fill, I put in a large, wide mouth container & then used a rubber band to secure all the openings closed. Twist the bag as you squeeze. Also, when the frosting colors get low, you can switch colors without completely undoing the whole thing. Just add a different but complimentary color in each bag & it will gradually change to the new color. Some cupcakes will have 6 colors during the change over.
Nice product for easy decorating
August 8, 2015
I purchased this to make colorful cupcakes, it works well. I found it a bit difficult to maneuver three filled pastry bags but I'm sure it well get easier with practice. I only offer 4 stars because I found this product in the local bakery supply shop for a cheaper price.

Good starter kit.
March 7, 2017
Nice beginner set. I would recommend clear disposable piping bags as it's nice to see the contents as you pipe down. This bag is a nice heavy vinyl, the coupling collar and cuff fit snug and are easy to connect. The piping tips are well made. These tips are not for fine line work as they pipe out a generous amount of icing or batter, about the size of your little finger. It makes nice stars and flowers.
Decent, but not the best
November 23, 2015
I struggled between 3 or 4 stars... and decided upon a 4, because my issues may just because I'm a complete novice and not due to the product itself. This is a good beginner's set. I'm not a big frosting type of person so I didn't want to invest in anything great or fancy, so I decided to get this. I'm still learning on proper piping techniques and still have a long way to go; this was my first decorating set and my first time using a piping bag and tips. It does have a good variety of metal tips, but I find that it also doesn't have everything, so some of the recipes I need this for, I would need to purchase additional tips (would it still work with the same set??) because they were smaller than what was needed (e.g. eclairs). It has instructions on how to put it together but not the most detailed, so I had fun attempting to put it together, then have some of the filling squeeze out from around the tip/couplings the first couple of times because I guess I didn't assemble them properly/tightly (I don't use it often enough to have consistent practice). I can say that I'm okay with it now after several uses (and one or two YouTube video tutorial sessions). The bag is fairly easy to clean; I don't use the cleaning brush since I try to clean the bag almost immediately after using so nothing can get a chance to dry, but there is a plastic inner lining that helps, which I like. The reusable aspect of this is a great plus! I just wish there were a larger variety of sizes to the tips. Perhaps an actual piping teacher would be helpful as well. ;)
Quality is good but beware of the small tips
April 19, 2015
Let me start by saying that the quality of the product seems pretty good so I don't want to rate it to bad. But overall almost everything is too small. The bag is smaller than I expected. All the tips are relatively small so it's hard to decorate a cupcakes let alone an entire cake. I would recommend buying disposable bags and then a small set of tips with multiple sizes. With that being said we still had a lot of fun and its a fun kit to get your feet wet. I'm going to attach a few pictures of the things we made on our very first try.
Perfect as your first decorating set!
October 28, 2014
I have been using the product for around three months now, predominantly to make macarons and use as an icing tool. For icing—as its intended purpose—it works well. However for pipetting out macaroons, I wished there was a thicker tip. I manually forced the largest tip into a larger round shaped which worked for my purposes. One disadvantage is that since this is designed to be reusable and the bag can't be replaced, you have to take care to wash out the bag very carefully. Mine has changed into a slight off brown color, invariably from the food colorings that I have used. Nevertheless, I feel that this product deserves four stars as it is very affordable and serves its intended purpose well. If you're just getting into pipetting for cakes and desserts, this is a perfect product to start with!
Just what you need to jump right in
December 12, 2010
One reviewer commented that the bag included in this set is ridiculously small; so it is, but that's easily solved. Peel it off the coupling, throw it away, and use a gallon ziploc with the corner cut off instead. Save yourself the trouble of cleaning it, too. The tips are easy to use, and there's a nice variety for getting started with decorating - NB, though, something I didn't realize (as a novice myself): decorating tips come in two sizes, and these are the smaller size, so you won't get large swirls/flourishes out of them, and don't plan to cover a whole cake this way. I found decorator tips and couplings in both sizes and all shapes available singly at my local cooking store, and they're cheap. You might want to check out that option if you have it in your town.
Grandma's little helper
June 13, 2010
Good product. As Grandma, I was enlisted to make a Winnie the Pooh cake just a week before my little granddaughter's second birthday party. Having always done designs free-hand and with a little help from the old icing tubes bought in the stores, I decided it was time to get something real quick and a whole lot better for future years of birthday cakes! The price was perfect and the product arrived quickly. I found it to be very easy to use. Some people found it hard to clean, but if you use hot water right away it cleans up darn good. I also had some black icing, but was still able to get it clean without any trouble. I love the tips and had a ball using this decorating set. It also made things go quicker so I could get off my feet sooner and enjoy the compliments later!!

Great in theory but u need three or more hands to assemble with three full bags and to be able to hold them all and squeeze the icing out as desired instead of out of the tops of the bag. Takes a special supersize tip too. With a lot of coordination and practice maybe... Made Sue and they were passable but not likely to do all the work for the swirl again

Difficult to use
October 29, 2016
I used this coupler to decorate cupcakes. It was such a disaster, and I was so frustrated, that I threw away the coupler with the disposable bags instead of cleaning and reusing. In hindsight, IF the icing bags are filled with enough icing for just a COUPLE cupcakes and IF you don't mind refilling the icing bags often and IF you have the patience, this coupler MIGHT be for you. I had a difficult time getting the coupler parts to line up once icing was in the bags - maybe I had too much icing in each bag, though I think the male/female connection and threads should be more enhanced. Also, I had to squeeze VERY hard to get my homemade buttercream icing (medium thick) to flow which resulted in perforations and icing leakage from the icing bags. All in all - a complete MESS!Maybe with a lot of practice and time I could have gotten these to work. It certainly wasn't fun or easy to use this coupler. :(

October 14, 2016
If you are only using two colors be sure to read the directions and have the different colors enclosed in an outer bag. The 3rd opening will have frosting leak due to the pressure you apply. If you don't have a way to enclose/separate the 3rd coupler you'll end up with frosting all over!Connecting all three pieces can be a bit tricky (holding them together while twisting the outer (purple) connector.
Idk, maybe I don't know the trick!
June 21, 2016
I really wanted to love this! :-( I have only used it once so far, so please keep that in mind, but it is difficult to use for me, or maybe I just haven't figured out the trick yet. It was surprisingly hard & almost hurt my hands to get whipped cream to come out believe it or not, but that could be because it is very bulky & hard to maneuver three decorating bags flopping around, plus getting all three to evenly distribute is tricky too. I'll update my review if I figure out the trick to it. Idk, maybe only put a tiny bit in each bag at a time, but that just seems like a pain.

March 22, 2016
It is ok ... Just one issue for me ... Of the two bags, one has a stitched top and the other one does not. Thought the one I received is like that and asked for a replacement ... Unfortunately, replacement is also the same. For some reasons, they seems to not stitch the second one which I could not think of why. Problem is, threads have started coming off loose in the un-stitched one ... Just after one decoration ... Might not survive a few more ...
Works ok, but not great.
February 5, 2016
The set works reasonably well but the piping cloth stains easily and the stains won't come out. Also, the plastic ring that holds the tip on is very cheaply made plastic. Luckily you can buy a replacement but you shouldn't have too. If you need to use it more than a couple of times buy s better set.
Frosting fun.
January 29, 2015
I had a hard time getting the tips to stay in place. Maybe it's just me but I had a rough time. That being sad, this kit comes with a lot of nice stuff for a great deal. The assortment of it all was great and I love the reusable pastry bags. I think once I get the hang of it, it'll all be good.
Not the easiest to work with
February 21, 2014
This set provides basic decorating tips, ok to get started and do some very basic designs. The bag seems to be of ok quality, vinyl inside and cloth outside, so it is not as easy to clean and dry as I would like. The problem with it, though, is that the opening is so small it is hard to get the frosting/filling into the bag. I prefer bags that are a bit wider at the top making it easier to fill and clean. I have a much larger set of decorating items in storage, so I didn't want to purchase another large set, just something to get by. This set does provide for that, just the basics, and works well. I just need to maybe find some bags that I can purchase separately.
very good for beginner
April 14, 2013
This is a good beginner starting set but it's not the best for frosting cupcakes. Like other reviewer said, it's more for smaller details and frosting cookies. The glue that is used to hold these tips in place to the packaging is very difficult to wash off without a good scrubbing. The bag is some kind of fabric material with coated polymer on the inside so it's fairly easy to clean, but still a pain. I think I'll stick with disposable bags from now on.

No Room for Error
November 22, 2016
Zero room for ErrorIf everything goes perfectly, these work and produce beautiful results. If there is any sort of problem, such as your bags tear as you are frosting, you are up the creek. This happened to me twice. First off you must use large bags if you want to frost a number of cupcakes 16 -18 inches, I had a difficult time finding these bags and the large reusable ones are quite expensive. I bought the plastic ones and tried using them several times with this product. If there is a problem with the bag, you must start over from the beginning. It is almost impossible to change bags for one color of frosting and put it back together again. The bags must be empty to put this product together, so if there is a problem with one of the three bags, you must take the contraption apart, clean it, attach empty bags to it, refill these bags and begin the frosting process once again. This happened to me multiple times. The first time, the hole I cut in one bag was slightly too big and some frosting was leaking out the top, I tried just changing that bag and continuing, no go. I had to change all the bags, clean the frosting tips and start again. After starting again a small hole appeared on the seam of one of my other bags, with frosting leaking out. I once again had to redo the entire contraption with new bags. I ended up just putting all three colors of frosting in one bag and letting them swirl themselves with a single tip, not using the ColorSwirl at all. It came out beautifully with no need for do overs or replacing bags. Since I had bought this ColorSwirl contraption, I decided to try it again on a separate set of cupcakes, this time with a friend who decorates cakes and cupcakes as a business and has been doing so successfully for years. I showed her the contraption we put it together and within a few cupcakes had a small hole in one of the disposable bags. She said, let's just ditch this thing and put all he frosting colors in one bag. We did so with once again beautiful results. I am saddened I spent money on this contraption. I hate wasting money and feel I did so with this. If you are going to use this, buy the reusable 16-18 inch bags as I had no luck with the clear disposable ones. It will cost extra money as they are about $12 dollars each, so three of them will add $36 to your price tag for this item. Too much money to spend if you ask me when putting the three colors together in one bag worked so well.
Hard to do with three bags of frosting
August 29, 2016
This is very hard to do as the 3 bags of frosting will not stay inserted in the tip connector. Frosting was coming out all over near the tip. It was inserted as far as it would go and still it was forced out by the soft frosting I was using. Great idea and looks good on the pictures but very difficult to do. Thanks anyway.

December 10, 2015
Eh.. I tried to use this last nignt and it was a total failure. It is really frustrating to get going...defiantly going to give it another try when I have more time to mess with it, and I really thought everything was included in the kit, that's why I bought it. Boo.
It's not for me.
November 3, 2015
I have a degree in Culinary Arts with an emphasis on baking and love trying out little gadgets like this. I've decorated a lot of cupcake cakes with multiple colors prior to buying this coupler, but I the concept was interesting. Unfortunately, I found it a little clunky and more time consuming than normal. I found it a little easier to work with if the bags didn't have a lot of frosting in them, but after doing about 50 cupcakes the novelty wore off. The cupcakes still turned out great, but I won't be using it again.

July 22, 2015
I was so excited to get this product but sadly it was a huge disappointment. Its actually easier to do it the old fashioned way than to use this. Its quite time consuming by the time you've cut the three icing bags to fit in the nozzle. You have to ensure that the plastic doesnt cover the threads on the nozzle, else the coupler wont screw on and if you cut the whole too big, then you run the risk of the bag popping off as you squeeze.I tried using the guide line given in the video but found that made the hole to big. To make it work effectively you could only have a small amount of icing in each bag, otherwise squeezing it was quite hard . If your only icing 12 this is ok, but when doing 48/ 60 its a pain.

Do the tips fall off for anyone else? Multiple times I've tried to use this and the tip will fly right off. When I place the tip on it seems very loose... Not sure why it was designed so loose.
Not worth the price.
December 13, 2015
The bag is really only good for one use, it completely fell apart after I washed it. Saw nearly the same exact set at the dollar tree, wouldn't buy again.
Impossible to Clean
November 5, 2014
It is impossible to clean the bag out properly. I have tried everything, but even if I manage to clean all the frosting out, whatever color was in the frosting dyes the bag, meaning the next batch of frosting (if it's a lighter color) takes on the hue of a previous cake.I don't have a dishwasher, though, so perhaps if you put this in a dishwasher it would come out cleaner.

Not easy to use, icing squirts out the sides. It is hard to get on perfectly. Using 1 large bag and squirting colors in it the better alternative.
Not a fan.
July 9, 2017
These are an exercise in frustration. I've tried them half a dozen times since buying them. Of all the Wilton things I've bought over the years, this is the only one that I've disliked. Getting the couplers into the bags and snapping them in takes some dexterity. Usually one, or maybe two, disconnect before I can get the tip and sleeve on. I keep trying, but after today's final attempt, I'm done with them!

January 4, 2014
I understand this is inexpensive, but it isn't even work what little I paid. The bag split almost the first second I went to use it. I then put the tips at the end of a plastic bag and used that. So if you do buy it, have some zip locks handy.
Not so great, wouldn't recommend
January 5, 2013
I didn't like this product. The icing bag is too small and it's hard to clean. The only good thing about this purchase was the decorating tips, which I still use, but with the plastic icing bags that you throw away. If you want to be more eco-friendly and purchase a re-usable icing bag this might be better for you, but I did not like it.
