awesome
April 29, 2017
we have old wood type windows that the wind seems to go through no matter how much insulation and weatherstripping we use. They are an odd shape and shift in the sash. Can't put new ones because the town historical code dictates the windows have to be wood. This was awesome this winter and taking it off this week left 0 residue on the window and left the paint undisturbed.
Effective quick fix for drafts
February 17, 2017
We're in need of some window resealing, but only seem to remember when it's too cold to do it. These strips made a big difference. They're easy to use. They're pretty sticky, but not too sticky. Once on the widows, they aren't noticeable. They almost work too well, as now it's even more likely we'll forget about the window work in the appropriate season to do it.
Protects againsts drafts!
January 14, 2017
I bought 3 rolls after I had seen our daughter and son-in-law use similar 3M product on their drafty, leaky windows. Ours are somewhat drafty. We have casement windows and live in a ranch style house. Not all of our windows required this, thankfully. Because these windows are casement, they don't have the extra middle "line" of double-hung windows requiring more product. It made an immediate difference. It was a really inexpensive and worthwhile purchase. Energize Ct was also at the house for an energy audit and said it made a big difference on drafts and heat loss. I will need to re-purchase for the fall.I was emailed and asked if this stops noise. We live in a very quiet neighborhood, not too far from a bigger street in town that runs north and south. We hear some traffic on occasion. The biggest thing now is the end of a nor-easter storm with a lot of wind and mixed precipitation. Before this was applied, we would have heard the wind far more, but now with it, there was much less, almost none.
Excellent Sealing
January 5, 2016
Perfectly solid weather sealing tape I bought quite a bit due to old drafty 100 yr old home. Works perfectly and stays in place even as temps dip below freezing it does not loosen at all. I use it with 3mil plastic sticks to it well and can be removed without tearing plastic.
Great! ...just wish there was more!
October 4, 2011
This works! My parents' house has drafty windows- the window frames are actually warped, and do not fit flush against the house. As a temporary winter fix, I taped those parts shut in our laundry room (a 4x9 room with two 3x4 windows) and we've noticed a decent change. I've started covering up other frames, but we're now out of tape. Wish there was more per roll. The tape is very thick, and does not come with a cutter- you need to slice them with scissors (don't try tearing) It is easy to apply and reapply, but catches fingerprints easily. Will update at the end of winter about the ease of peeling off this tape!
Terrific Energy Saver
December 21, 2010
This high quality, easy to use product probably paid for itself in less than 2 weeks. The heavy guage material is simple to trim & install in minutes. The adhesive is very strong, yet until you burnish it down, it's rather easy to re-position into final placement. Have an air leak - Get This Item!

Good product. Used to seal the part of portable AC that goes in the window. Easy to work with, nicely seals things up and can be removed easily.Would buy again.
Worked well !
March 17, 2017
This worked as expected. We sealed an entire garage wall -to-ceiling last week. So far so good, it instantly adheres well and the cool air stopped as I applied it!
No more cold drafts...
December 2, 2016
Past years, I'd sit by the window to gaze outside...and freeze from the cold air rolling in. I finally broke down and bought this "fix." The tape is just wide enough to cover a small part of the window glass, and the trough in front of it. Works perfectly! I wish I'd have used it sooner...but no draft this holiday season!
Great product!
May 9, 2016
I am completely obsessed with this tape because it's the only thing saving my home from insects. We recently moved to California & found a beautiful remodeled older home to rent. Most things in the home are brand new & work perfectly but the windows are old and so are the screens. I decided to try this to tape up edges where the screen frame is bent and insects could get it. This tape sticks well and is hardly noticeable. It also comes off easy without any residue left on the screen. I also have used it to tape a cord up due to the lack of residue. Sometimes the tape will come off if the window is getting used often but I just add another peice. I tend to use small strips instead of one large strip.
Magic
June 28, 2015
This tape is magic. I just moved to a new place and it's 100 degrees outside and the bedroom has been steaming hot. I did a haphazard job of sealing up the windows yesterday with this stuff, just to try and get some fast relief. Even without cleaning first or doing a perfect job the difference is amazing. Today it's still intact, the bedroom is maintaining a comfortable temp, and the A/C no longer has to run 24 hours.
Works pretty good. Seals up nicely stop the air leakage

Works pretty good. Seals up nicely stop the air leakage. Will see how well it pulls off in the Spring.Came off really easy (no peeled paint) and seemed to help a lot this past winter. Will be using again this winter.

Good tape, small amount
October 11, 2017
The tape is great, but a roll doesn't go very far. I wanted to buy a roll of high quality plastic sheeting to winterize my windows as I don't care for the shrink film kits.. I bought this tape to put it up.. one roll didn't even do 2 windows.. bummer.. good tape though
Okay for edging, not applying, of window film
December 1, 2016
It's thick and not too sticky, but does its job. This tape goes over the edges of window film after it's installed, or over cracks. It is not double-sided, so it can't be used to stick the window film tightly. Easy to remove. Not much on each roll, however. I found each roll can do about 2-3 average windows, max.
Easy to apply
April 30, 2016
I previously asked a question on whether or not this tape would stick to my crown molding and the wall to keep attic dust from coming down into my room. Two answers suggested I try it. I live near Houston where it is nothing but hot and humid. This tape was put up 3 weeks ago with no sign of peeling. It is still removable and replaceable. The 4 stars is because there is not much of it. It required 2 full rolls to seal the smallest bedroom in my house. Since I am too old to be high on a ladder this tape is a workable alternative.
Did a nice job of adhering to both window and insulation sheet
March 3, 2016
Liked the way it sealed material to window without leaving a gummy residue on window rungs upon removal.
Great temporary fix to drafty windows
December 23, 2015
Bought this tape to close up drafty (very old, 1070's) windows in apartment. Great solution for temporary fix!! It helped lower heating cost and apartment definitely feels a lot warmer and less drafty. Also applied to areas in kitchen where I can feel the cold air coming through. The only problem I had with this tape was that the roll didn't provide enough for the amount of money you spend. I went to one of the huge hardware stores and bought a non-brand version for 3 times as much tape for about the same cost. It was called weatherseal tape. Same transparency and stickiness.Won't buy this one again.....but I'm glad I did buy it initially since I wasn't aware of the product before I saw it on Amazon.
Oops. Great product, but not what I needed.
December 21, 2015
I can see how this product is meant to work now that I've tried using it for the intended project. I must say, if I had known what this is like (and additionally what I actually should have bought) prior to purchase, I would not have bought the tape. However, that said, this is a great product. The tape is thick and sturdy. It comes off the roll very easily. It is wide, so can fold up on itself though. I could see applying this would be almost a two person job.Overall, I recommend this for weather sealing windows and doors. And it's not the products fault that I actually was supposed to buy weather stripping (haha).

this is really a strong tape and has worked really well around my windows to keep air from coming in. I have used it on the air conditioners, windows and an area in my ceiling. Whereas other tapes like duct tape would not stay adhered to paint on my sheet rock ceiling, this tape so far is doing the job. It's a really strong, clear tape and holds just great!

Nice flexible vinyl like tape. The adhesive comes off windows and even mahogany woodwork without leaving a mark. I am pretty happy with it. Cellophane tape does not even compare to the quality this tape offers.

Really not much different than packing tape...
May 26, 2017
Not much I can say. It's decent enough thickness. But it's hard to apply to anything but a flat surface without getting wrinkles in it, which totally defeats the purpose. Then when you hit it with a heat gun it shrinks the tiniest amount. I don't hate it, but it's nothing special either.
X-tra big scotch tape!!!
December 21, 2016
This is not what I expected, I thought this would be the foam stuff that has some cushion to it, this stuff is like extra large scotch tape, it might look better than duct tape but duct tape would do a better job at what this intended purpose is of this product is!

My room is feeling warmer. I may still need to put a blanket along the sill to keep the cold air out.
On the fence
February 6, 2016
I have used this tape on several windows and I'm still not sure what I think about it. It definitely is a quick fix approach to sealing cracks and it doesn't require any special skill or tools. To some extent, the tape definitely works but the hard thing is that I don't know how well. The cold air flow can definitely be sealed shut, but cold air will still permeate the tape.I don't feel like there is any particular risk to our paint job as I had to lift the tape several times to get it applied just right. It is adhesive and sure but not aggressively so. If done right, it is not very apparent that it is even applied. However, that kind of result either takes a LOT of patience or maybe a natural touch. If not done well, it can look really sloppy. Getting the tape into a corner without it sticking to one side before I was ready took some practice. I found using smaller lengths of tape made the process easier to manage. The package doesn't come with a way to cut the tape and it cannot just be ripped. You will need scissors to make a clean cut. I think this tape is a fine short term solution, but I will likely remove it and caulk/patch for a cleaner, more long term solution.
Is this just packaging tape???
January 20, 2014
Well, I think this stuff is just really thick packaging tape that is overpriced. Used it in my windows and haven't really noticed a difference. Scared about how bad it will be to remove this spring. It has a strong plastic smell also. Won't buy this again :(

Doesn't stick that great around cold windows
Ended up disappointed. Adhesion factor was nill when temps dropped.
February 14, 2016
Ended up disappointed. Adhesion factor was awful when temp dropped. Only reason I bought this tape was to apply in cold temps (Jan/Feb North Florida winter) to alleviate heat loss around windows. In approx. 55 degree daytime temp it went onto the freshly cleaned & dried metal window frame, ceramic tile window sill and high-gloss painted wall. However, when the temps dropped, so did this tape! It got down to approx.35-40 degrees over that night and by the morning the tape had all come down. It adhered to itself and the added-in visqueen poly-sheeting very well, just not to where I really needed it too.In contrast I ended up purchasing the more expensive Gorilla Glue Tape and it worked like a champ.Moral to my story: Sometimes less expensive costs you more, especially when you have to re-do the project.
Not bad
February 1, 2016
This tape works great at keeping the drafts out but it also took some of my paint off when removing it when it warms up. Not sure if this is the case for all kinds of paint or windows, but it was in my case.

Not sticking well. I wound up just using packing tape.
It's kinda just tape.
March 9, 2016
I'm not sure if I was just expecting something else, but for being advertised as "weather sealing tape," it's kinda just regular ol' tape. It's a little wider than your typical office tape, and maybe a tad thicker, but you could easily confuse it for packing tape. That being said, I've had it stuck to an old window for a few months now, and it hasn't fallen off yet. So that's a plus.
Better alternatives out there ...

don't last long
January 31, 2014
I bought this a year ago because a lot of cold draft comes through our living room windows and balcony door. My husband and I sealed the plastic very carefully but on a really windy day, the plastic came off. It also left tape residue which is so hard to clean off! This only lasted us a month or 2.

Doesn't stick in very cold weather.
December 20, 2016
I guess this is not the brand of weather seal tape I bought 2 years ago, as this does not stick to anything for long. Have had to use twice as much and still it falls down overnight, as wind chill temps hit -12 degrees. I'm old hand at winterizing - cleaned surfaces with alcohol and dried thoroughly before applying tape. Very disappointed as MD brands are generally good products. If you need this for extreme cold weather seal around windows - this is not going to do it for you. Perhaps ok in a more moderate climate?
others have had different and better experiences than I have
October 24, 2015
From the reviews, others have had different and better experiences than I have. I used it last winter to tack down some indoor plastic window film where the double-side tape had begun to fail. A few days later it was loose. I attributed this to bad preparation on my part and did not consider the possibility of problems with this tape. Last week, in 60-degree+ weather, I prepped some outdoor window for attaching plastic film. The surfaces were aluminum and painted, smooth wood. I used a dry wipe-down and then two rounds of alcohol applications. The tape seemed to adhere just fine. Two days later it was 40 degrees and the plastic was flapping. The tape had let loose and would not adhere. I did not just tack down the corners, I framed the entire plastic sheeting with the tape. As I said, others have had better experiences, but I cannot recommend it.

December 17, 2016
Didn't work at all sealing my window that has a bad draft. I taped up all around my window, and I haven't noticed a difference at all. I used pretty much the entire roll, so maybe if there was more tape I could have gone over it again to create a better seal. I wouldn't recommend this product.

Just use packing tape. There is virtually no difference between the two products except price. I didn't find this tape sealed my drafty windows.
Disappointed
March 10, 2016
It's just expensive clear tape. I thought it would be thicker and substantial, since the description states "weather stripping for windows and doors". I was disappointed that it looks like packaging tape. Don't waste your money. Also not worth the return since you have to pay for the return even though the description was not accurate.
