It works great, giving me strong signal and good range
May 20, 2017
I am using this as a wireless access point in a corner bedroom, so that I can have wireless in my backyard. It works great, giving me strong signal and good range . My only complaint is that the set up instructions and wizards do not tell you how to use it as a wireless access point. I'm no tech dummy, but I had to figure it out by poking around and using the forum. By the time tech support got back to me it was a snooty "just go to settings" reply, but I'd already figured it out. Overall an excellent product. Using it with a netgear modem/router.
Love it after getting past set-up.

Works great. Bought this as a WiFi extender for the router that is sitting next to my computer in a room about 40 feet away from my TV. Perhaps my router needs updating but it really isn't very old. Had been having problems connecting computer to TV and decided to order Securifi. I give it 5 stars because it is doing what I want it to do. It did take me longer than 3 minutes to set it up. I am not very savvy when it comes to computers and electronics, but I am very stubborn. I ended up unplugging everything and starting over. I was smarter the 2nd time. I keep thinking the more I mess with this stuff on my own, the more I will learn. I still think that is true, but I suggest if you have problems setting it up, you call Securifi. From what I have read, they are very helpful and will quickly walk you thru setup.
Worth the price and it does what it's suppose to do. Excellent customer service

The problem I had in my home was that WiFi was not able to reach all the rooms in my house; which happens to be 1255sf ranch style block home. Since my brother-in-law is an IT tech, he advised me to get an extender to assist with full coverage. I read the reviews on this product and was impressed and relieved that my search came to an end. I really like the touch screen and colorful display. Not a hard product to set up and works like a charm. I gave it 5 stars because it actually did what it was suppose to do. Their customer service line is awesome and they know what they are doing. Placement of this extender was set up on my rolltop desk midway in the house which is located in a perfect area. I was able to connect my printer to this extender and now I am able to print my schedules from my phone. The original modem was located in the living room and due to the location of the desk, it was not feasible to hook computer or printer in that room. Needless to say I now have full range WiFi in my home. I did review several products, but I kept comparing others to the Almond and Almond won hands down. There are a few Almond models, so its best to look at your situation and if you aren't sure which one to buy call their customer service for assistance. This items was purchased about 2 months ago and I wanted to give it time to perform before I left this review. As of this date 3/28/17 I want to say it was a perfect purchase for my situation. I think you will like it too.
Awesome product. Literally a 3 minute set up!!!

I have been having issues with extending my wifi to a garage area where I have a swim spa. I have bought and tried other things. The "other" things turned out super complicated and it would end up taking up so much time and then wouldn't work. When I saw this product, I thought the reviews sounded too good to be true but then thought I would try one last time. Wow and am I glad I did. It is the last time, it took a matter of seconds. I am up and running and I am so happy with it. Thanks for a great product.
Fantastic device all around.

Good Range and Easy Setup
November 14, 2017
I have only had the product for approximately one month but so far so good. The setup was relatively easy. The WPS button did not work as I expected but I honestly do not know if it was my router or the Netgear router. I had to create an account in order to complete the setup since I could not get the WPS to work. The range on the router is good and covers my entire upstairs while my main router covers the entire downstairs. It is a little annoying switching back and forth between the two wifi networks but I am slowly getting used to it. Overall a good product and exactly what I needed.
Screamin'!
October 14, 2017
I live in an apartment over a garage. The router is next door in the main house waaaay on the other side of the lower level. This extender is in the downstairs window closest to the apartment. Granted, the garage is pretty close (30 ft) from the house, but still. Setup was easy since the router had a WPS button, but I still had to set up the password on my computer, of course. I only use a Roku for television and it was very happy. So far so good, I'm sure it'll deteriorate eventually but for now it's great!
Extends signal, and boosts speed. Fantastic tool!
October 11, 2017
I live in a relatively small old house that has several wifi dead zones, so I wanted to find a tool that would at least allow us to use wifi throughout the entire house. I also wanted to be able to use it as a network switch so I could simultaneously boost speeds and plug in my printer to the network, which is in a separate room from the router/modem.The Nighthawk AC1900 nails it all. It extends the signal so that we can now use our faster 5.0 GHz band throughout the house, and we can even use the 2.4 GHz band outside on the patio. Not only that, I'm also getting much faster speeds than before. According to speedtest.net, I'm getting about a 250 Mbps boost on the 5 GHz band, and about a 100 Mbps boost on the 2.4 GHz.Well worth the investment, IMO.
Works well for console gaming, streaming, and easy WPS setup.
September 23, 2017
Purchased a refurbished unit because the place we're renting I'm pretty sure has metal in the walls or something. This eliminated most of the connectivity issues we were having with our ring doorbell. I've used it to play my PS4 online, stream from my plex server, and play my Nintendo Switch online with no issues. I also like that it registers as being within my normal network so I can stream stuff via chrome cast from my phone that's connected to the extender to the chromecast that's connected to my main router without having to switch my phone to the main router. I tried using a linksys extender I got off clearance at walmart a few weeks ago first but no luck. This device worked great first try using the WPS button set up.
2 tries to setup, but works great!
September 15, 2017
Setup:
I purchased a Refurbished AC1900 and tried to use the WPS setup. But the Wifi network icons did not light up after hitting the WPS button. So I called Support and they had me do a manual setup with my laptop through the EXT Wifi network. Which when setup was completed the device froze up and did not broadcast the networks. So I was instructed to do a hard reset (hold the reboot button for 1 minute. Tried manual setup again and everything worked this time.

Use:
Moved Extender into my garage to help get my Wifi Speakers working through my concrete patio. Workes great! I now have reliable signal in my garage, and the speakers connect right away.
Top Rated WIFI Range Extender
August 30, 2017
After a bad experience with the last wifi range extender, I bought and returned, installing the NETGEAR refurbished EX7300 Nighthawk X4 AC2200 model was a snap to install and the results were astounding. Buying the refurbished model made the price especially reasonable for a top rated product and by its visual condition, I couldn't decern any evidence of its previous use. What put it miles ahead of the Chinese junk being imported for sale is the excellent documentation and online support for installing and operation of the NETGEAR product.

My Kingdom for a QSS button
October 23, 2017
I really like this router, now that I got it working everywhere. I am using this as my primary router and not a signal extender. Speaking of which, my pre-existing extender in my dining room basically allows my Windows 10 PC to reach the router in the family room with a decent signal. BUT...in order to get it to "see" this new router, it needed a QSS function on the Almond router, which apparently it does not have. So I worked days getting my TP-LINK extender in the dining room to recognize this router. Finally, I put the older router I had (with a QSS) in the dining room, and fired it up, even though no cable Cat V was connected. This allowed my extender to acknowledge a valid QSS. Then, I disconnected the old router in the dining room, and FINALLY the extender acknowledged this new router, allowing me to have connectivity in the dining room. So, this is why I've bumped the rating to 4 stars.
Won't Work
June 2, 2017
I have time warner/ spectrum as my internet provider and they supplied me with an Arris Router. My speed is in excess of 55 mps but I cannot reach my guesthouse. Bought this thing for the purpose of extending my range after my older extender finally failed. I began my setup for this extender and everything went well until the final step wherein I received the message that provider could not be located. I was less than 20' from router with no obstructions.Took me 3 minutes to repackage it and send it back. Is that their 3 minute guarantee?I was immediately refunded for my purchase. Then in an effort to prove how smart I am I ordered another one (cost me $10 more). It works perfect to the extent I added three stars. Would have added four but am pissed for losing $10.
Good range extender
May 21, 2017
I purchased the unit to use as a range extender to reach several outside cameras. Setup was easy and I really like the display for entering configuration info. There are a couple of apps for time and weather you can use the display for after setup, I keep the one that shows current weather.I have had it running now for right at 3 months and as a range extender it has performed flawlessly. No issues streaming multiple IP cameras and the unit recovered from several power outages, something my expensive home router has failed to do reliably. I have not used the Securifi Almond in the other modes (wireless router, access point, bridge) so I cannot comment on how they will function. For the features and price point it was a good buy for me.
Really Made a Difference

Securifi Almond - (3 Minute Setup) Touchscreen Wi-Fi Wireless Router / Range Extender / Access Point / Wireless BridgeThis has really made a difference with my wifi signal. First I would like to say that the setup was extremely quick and simple. Just plug it in, and it goes through the setup with you. I use the almond as a range extender because I get terrible wifi in my room. My router is in the living room, and the almond is setup in my room. I now have no issues with wifi in my room with regards to my phone or laptop. The only issue I am stiIl having is the wifi connecting to my Amazon TV Stick. It works sometimes, and other times my Amazon stick states that it is connected to wifi, but with problems. This does not happen often, but when it does it can be very frustrating.Overall this product has really helped strengthen my wifi signal, and I would recommend it to anyone that is having similar issues.
Seamless...but
August 15, 2016
Mostly Pros and one big Con so here goes:Pros1.As an extender Securifi Almond is a great amplifier. I have two remote Tivo Wifi adapters, which are notorious for dropping out and the signal strength remains very strong upstairs and downstairs.2.Holy Cow! The Customer Service, if you have any question, is beyond good. Its actually the best service I've ever had on such a device. I kid you not its extremely satisfying!3. The extender boost is real good, I've located Almond in the same room as my router and have superb coverage over a two story 5000 sq. ft. home inside and poolside. I tried this because I wanted no possibility of Almond dropping out while testing. It worked out so good I just left it there, so there is no chance of Almond missing a communication scan with my router.Con1. Dammit! The screen on my Almond has faded over the year so I can't see the functionality of the device, which is crucial to pairing with your router and occasional servicing. For instance, my brainiac utility company occasionally likes to drop service, which may require me to pair the Almond again to my router. It becomes a peck and hunt game since the screen resolution is reduced to about 10%.If that one con didn't exist I would give this a saintly rating!
I would be head over heels in love with. But I do
April 2, 2016
Let's start by stating that if I had never owned a WIFI extender, I would be head over heels in love with Securifi Almond - (3 Minute Setup) Touchscreen Wireless Router / Range Extender. But I do. I also own a HomeScreen Dual Band TouchScreen Wireless Router / Range Extender w Touchscreen - AC750 (802.11ac). Using a WIFI analyzer app, the HomeScreen consistently yields a 10 DBm better result. I use these devices in conjunction with my home WIFI system in order to boost the signal to run my Ring Wi-Fi Enabled Video Doorbell, and when I go RV camping, I use them to grab the weak WIFI signal and boost it to make it easier and more stable to use the Internet. Now, the only difference for me will be, the HomeScreen goes camping and the Securifi stays at home, running the video doorbell which is does very nicely. Both systems work very well and the setup could not be easier. They are consistently good in their WIFI extender duties. I have tried LinkSys products previously and could never get them to show any signal improvement over our regular WIFI. (In all fairness, I should mention that I did not have the WIFI Analyzer app back then.) The LinkSys devices were not intuitive, setup not simple and I ended up returning them to the store. The Securifi touch screen tells you exactly what is happening during set up and if you know your WIFI net name and password, you are IN! These devices will serve as WIFI routers, but I have not used them for that purpose.

Supports WiFi Bridge mode
September 12, 2017
I have several Internet devices in a back bedroom that either lack WiFi or have weak internal antennas. The solution was a WiFi bridge with a strong transmitter that could wirelessly connect to my main WiFi router and then attach Ethernet cables to my Internet devices. I have no need to extend the WiFi by creating a secondary 2.4 or 5 GHz network. The EX7000 has the ability to turn off both the 2.4 & 5 GHz secondary WiFi radios and act as a simple WiFi bridge. This is not clear in the marketing specs or the users manual.

The device works quite well once it it correctly setup. I deducted one star because the setup process is challenging. You have to register an email address and password with Netgear in order to get to the web based setup screens. The first time I tried to connect to my main router I was unsuccessful and had to do a factory reset. Eventually I got it to connect, disabled the setup password, and disabled the 2.4 & 5 GHz extenders. The process took well over an hour (I can usually setup a router in 10 minutes). A good product, but not recommended for novices.
Great performance
February 20, 2017
Unnecessarily complicated to find it to set up. But the performance is excellent connected to my LinkSys WRT1900AC. All the expected features with a nice UI. Hoping it is solid for longer than the other Netgear oroducts I've owned. Fingers crossed.
Netgear nighthawk WiFi range extender
January 20, 2017
This was my third choice as an extension. I has proved to be superior to the 2 others I tried. This unit was very easy to install. It provided me with superior connections including 2.5 and 5.0 which allows me to receive the maximum speed provided by our carrier. I can recommend this device to anyone needing a WIFI extension.
The device is easy to pair with the existing router
December 26, 2016
The Netgear AC1900 WiFi Range Extender has met my needs for a WiFi extender to connect my guest house with the main house about 50 feet. The main router is located downstairs in the main house while the Netgear AC1900 is located on an upstairs wall facing the main house. The Netgear AC1900 receives a full five bars where it is located. The device is easy to pair with the existing router. The strength of the signal is consistently three with an occasional two bars downstairs from the Netgear AC1900. This is to be expected as the signal is traveling through several walls, a staircase and a floor. I have a blueray player, an Amazon Echo, and a smart TV and all three devices work well with the Netgear AC1900. The signal is enough to comfortably watch Netflix and surf the Internet. I recommend the Netgear AC1900 WiFi Range Extender for anyone that has a need to extend their current WiFi network.
it's easy to set up
October 6, 2016
It's fast when used with my Netgear Nighthawk X4S R7800, it's easy to set up. Well I used to need a Network extender to reach my living room but it turns out the X4S Router's wireless signal is so strong that I no longer need to extend the wireless coverage.
I previously thought this was causing me issues, and put it in my review but it turns out it is the netgear router that is the issue not this extender, so I edited this review and added a star. It seems fine.

April 18, 2017
The company probably deserves a better rating but I just don't know how to evaluate the routers. I bought three thinking I would blanket my operating space with a good signal as only one computer (right next to the DSL modem/wifi) worked regularly. Hooked one right next to my wife's MAC and another in our bedroom (a small Cape 1500 sqft); it didn't improve anything. Ended up ordering a dedicated DSL line (Fairpoint) for the downstairs computers. Still no improvement so I'm guessing Fairpoint is the culprit. Still, I'm sitting on three brand new Almonds (one still in the box) that collect dust.
I am giving them 3 start for good customer service and making the warranty replacement relatively painless
February 13, 2017
I was using this as a range extender. The first month the connection dropped frequently. Not sure what changed, but that problem went away. Now display has faded to the point that it is unreadable. I contacted Securifi and after sending them pictures or the display, serial numbers, order numbers & MAC, they emailed me a shipping label. Once they see I have shipped the old one I will get a new one. I am giving them 3 start for good customer service and making the warranty replacement relatively painless, but I am not impressed with product. Glad I am not using it as a wireless router or I would be without wireless wifi waiting for the replacement.
Needs restarts daily. No updates published for it.
December 27, 2016
Works OK when it works. Used to work like a champ when I bought it in 2014. Needs to be reset almost daily now. No software/firmware updates in a LOOONG time. Looks like it's falling behind the times as far as steam width and capabilities. I think it's becoming obsolete. I recommend buying something else. I won't buy this one again.
Great until you loose power
August 2, 2016
I bought this to use as a range extender because the security camera we have in the front of our house wasn't reaching the indoor wifi connection. I put this device in our garage, easy set up, and the camera seems to work almost flawlessly now that it's connected to the almond. The one thing that disappoints me is that when you loose power, even if it's only for a minute (which happens A LOT here in Florida) the almond disconnects from the wifi and needs to be manually reset each time. What if we are not home or on vacation and the power goes out? We will loose our security camera footage- which is when we need it most - and there will be no way to get it back since we aren't there to reconnect the almond. If there is a way to avoid this, please let me know!
Used to Really extended the WiFi range at home!
June 11, 2016
Update beneath original post:Thanks to all the reviewers before me. Based on their information I purchased one for my home. With the router in the basement, there was a dead zone in an upstairs bedroom and it was frustrating to lose signals on our devices. This is truly a plug and play device. It says 3 minutes, I guess if you include the time it takes to open the box and untie the twisty on the power cord, it took 3 minutes. I literally, plugged it in. Let it do it's thing after I powered it on. I think I clicked a couple of things on the touch screen with the included stylus. And it was ready to go.All you need if you WiFi name and password and this device does the rest. Thank you again to the previous reviews.Glad I got this!UPDATE: After a year of use, the screen is washed out to the point you can barely read it. We didn't have it "on" displaying all the time so there's not explanation for the burnout. But, more importantly, if you don't reset or reconnect it every day (or few hours), it doesn't work. It broadcasts a signal but nothing really connects. So, we've gone from singing it's praises to searching for a replacement.
Ok if you don't have bandwidth problems!
February 6, 2016
My Internet provider is Wide Open West and I'm pretty much happy with them. The modem/router they provided is the Arris DG860, and it's in my office upstairs. I've never had a big problem with the wifi streaming to my Samsung TV in my bedroom, or my Samsung tablet if I was in the kitchen, or my Samsung phone; however, my Smart TV Samsung 40" and Samsung Blue Ray player I had a problem with. When I tried to watch hulu or amazon video there were considerable buffering problems, and I do mean considerable. Got so I gave up watching hulu or amazon video on that TV.Anyway, I called WOW and they gave me some song and dance about no wifi guarantees; and after the tech guy tried different settings, he said there was nothing they could do about my streaming problem with my 40". Samsung upgraded the software remotely, but that didn't help much either.Well, one day I was looking on Amazon for a dual band router because I thought that would solve my problem. I came across the Almond and saw that it was a range extender and there were fantastic Amazon reviews about it. The price was ok so I thought I'd try it to see if it would solve my streaming problem with my 40" TV.I'm almost afraid I'll jinx the thing, but OMG, this small router/range extender did the trick. I plugged it into the wall, placed it right next to my 40" TV (which is about 70 feet from the Arris modem/router in my upstairs office). The touch screen setup was super easy and took less than 5 minutes. My Smart TV apps launched quickly, and so far I've had almost no buffering problems. Again, I'm afraid to jinx, but for the most part, I have fast flawless streaming with Hulu and Amazon video. Unbelievable!Yep, I'm extremely happy with the purchase and recommend this product 100%.Update: Feb 9, 2016Starting yesterday, started having same problems with my 40" and Amazon Video. Since I only got the Almond to correct that problem, I am returning the Almond. Solved the Amazon video problem by upgrading the Arris modem/router that came with my Wide Open West (service provider) to the Arris DB2470 dual band modem router. Used the 5 Ghz bandwitdh network setting with my 40" TV. From what I understand, the Almond is not dual band (only 2.4 Ghz). If when you're streaming you keep getting low bandwidth errors, then I would definitely get a dual band router or modem router and set that device to the upper (5 Ghz) bandwidth.

should be an option for setup over ethernet
September 16, 2017
Works great once it is setup properly. I had trouble with both methods of connecting, with the extender a few inches from the Nighthawk 1900 router. Finally got it to connect on 2.4 GHz via WPS, and then was able to force the 5 GHz online via the "manual setup" by running the wizard via the browser.

I would be nice if it included a way to configure the device over ethernet, the old fashioned way. Rather than spending an hour, I could have spent 10 minutes. But these devices aren't marketed to people who know what they are doing, so it's mostly plug and pray.

At least it was cheap. :)
Not an easy to use or effective extender, buy mesh instead
August 8, 2017
Difficult setup (for my system) and not very good range. Despite being physically very large, this extender didn't help much with signal strength even when I am in the same room with it. I ended up switching to the Google mesh router instead and this ended up in the box of junk devices I can't bear to throw in the electronics recycling. But I doubt if it will ever be used again.
Very easy to install and configure
July 6, 2017
Pros:
- OK Device. Transmit in both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz without issues. Very easy to install and configure.

Cons:
- Lack of advanced configuration options. It is so user friendly that it lacks advanced options for the Networking Experts. No options to modify the wireless advanced settings like Beacon Interval, Thresholds, etc.
- Outdated firmware with some errors like showing that it is not connected to the internet when it is actually connected and working without issues.
- Advertises Wifi Coverage of Up to 10,000 square feets, while my home is way smaller than that I still find many spots with almost no coverage.

Conclusion:
- Not worthy of spending more than 100$ for almnost no improvement in coverage while compared to other APs that sell cheaper than that.
Did not work with stairs
June 16, 2017
My place has the front entrance and garage on ground level but all the living space is on the second, like a townhome. Using devices with Wi-Fi in the main living space is not an issue, but my Ring doorbell is at ground level and it rarely works due to the Wi-Fi being weak by the front door. I placed the extender near the top of the stairs, which is the closest outlet to the doorbell and a short distance from the router, all lights indicate it's good to go and "fail". I attached a screenshot of my Wi-Fi test by the front door, this is actually worse than it was without the extender so it is going back.

Pros:
Setup took about 60 seconds, very easy.
I liked the idea of not losing an outlet with this design.

Cons:
Did not help with extending Wi-Fi down stairs.
More Frustrating Than Helpful
July 13, 2016
I purchased this product to improve laptop browsing. Out of the box - set-up was tricky - the device finally recognized the network password. Two laptops were connected and browsing seemed improved. Now just 6 hours later the MAC book Pro is connected to the browser, but I can't search or navigate to any URL's. I have restarted the device and the computer. The other lap top is further from the device and is functioning fine. Of course, you can only access Netgear help if the device is connected, and I can't get to the help IF the device IS connected. When I disconnect the device network and log on to the original network - everything is as it should be. Maybe this is a MAC thing - but if it is - it should be identified in the advertisements.

UPDATE - It's working better - there are moments - but the performance is much improved and the signal to the other non-MAC laptop is working really well, where previously it did not receive a signal at all in any room except the room where the router is connected. I still can't give it more than a 3 because the installation is tricky and the on-line assistance is very frustrating - but it seems that once you negotiate the installation process - you'll be OK and its worth the price.
Great unit. Horrible setup.
April 19, 2016
Great device. Does what it says on the box. Really happy now set up, however - two issues...

1. Covers both outlets when plugged in. Even if it's plugged into the upper outlet the lower outlet is partially covered hence unusable. I guessed it might do this from the picture. That's why I bought this one with the pass through outlet.

2. Horrible, horrible setup. Took me an hour. Using the enclosed guide booklet was useless. Netgear has worked to make it easy but needs to try harder. I needed to go online to their Help Center several times to work out the problem. Trouble was that with the unit powered up my laptop kept connecting to the extender instead of my home network. The extender didn't yet have internet access. Catch 22. In the end I connected the unit to my laptop via Ethernet cable. That did it.

Problematic after short period of use. Serious QC issues.
August 4, 2017
Mine had problems from the start. When I first got it the screen had white lines going through it. I contacted customer service and they said that because it was not affecting its operation they could not do anything about it. After that I had lots of problems with it such as with the range and also with the connectivity. The clock on it is always wrong even though it is supposed to sync and you are not given the option to manually adjust the time. I have used it both as a wireless router and as a Wi-Fi extender but it seems to be a total piece of crap. I wish I could get at least part of my money back.
Works great, until it drops...
December 16, 2016
It does work, and once i got it synched up, it has a great signal. Easily doubles my wireless range. Now, 3 minute setup? Hardly. If you read this review, and heed my warnings, then maybe. Otherwise, if you try to figure it out for yourself, plan on hours of frustration. Bottom line up front: once you get it online with your router, you are golden UNTIL IT LOSES SYNCH! Once it drops from your router, you have to go through the entire setup all over again (you have to use the reset button first). This will not resynch with your router on its own. It took hours and hours of frustration to figure this problem out, and it is a software problem. It is not hard to go through the setup at all, it does only take a few minutes. The trick is to understand that you ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO IT EVERY TIME IT DROPS! I would not buy this again, it is overpriced for the faulty software. However since I have it, and since I understand it, I will make do.
How can 11,000 good reviews be wrong????????
November 27, 2016
I bought this after seeing it had 11,000+ 4 and 5 star reviews...how could this thing not be awesome???Well, let me tell you why:I live in a 3 level townhouse. My Verizon FiOS router is in the basement and the range is lacking in the upper level rooms, giving much slower speeds and unstable connectivity (sometimes none). I currently have 75Mbps up and down from Verizon. The desktop is hard lined into the router and gives me on average about 80Mbps downloads and 75-80Mpbs uploads. My Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPad Air pull an average of 35-40Mbps download through wi-fi while in the same room as the router. I get 20Mbps one level up over wi-fi. And, depending on connectivity, I pull about 6.5Mbps on the upper level. So, to get a more reliable and hopefully faster connection, I got this Securifi Almond to place on the 1st level of the house. Ideally, pulling a better connection from the main router only 10 feet directly below it and pushing that one level up so my devices upstairs only had to compete for connection through one floor instead of two.The result was my devices connecting to the Almond on the 1st floor and upper level, but only getting 4.5-6.5Mbps...no improvement...in fact, a decrease on the 1st floor versus connecting directly to the main router on that level.So...wasn't excited about that.My other main gripe is that you can't manually search for an SSID from the Almond. My main router is set to not broadcast its SSID so it can't be "seen"...You can actually set the Almond to not broadcast once setup too, which I did; however, I had to log into my main router, change the setting to broadcast so the Almond could "see" my network, get everything setup and then change my settings back how I wanted them. Sounds like a First World Problem, but it's annoying that I couldn't just type in my SSID into the Almond from the get-go.Also, after setting up the Almond the first time, unplugging it and taking it upstairs, it decided to not save any of the settings I just went through. So I set it up again...how tedious. Then circumstance caused me to have to unplug and move the Almond again, but this time it saved everything so I was okay with that...but then I was having speed issues in Repeater Mode. The only thing the Almond wound up giving me was a more reliable connection to a crappy speed in my upstairs rooms...if that's all I was getting out of this, I would've bought a much cheaper repeater. It's getting returned. My fix is to just add an Access Point in the upper level that is "hard lined" via power line adapter back to the basement router. It's pulling about 12Mbps to the upstairs, but it's a reliable connection now and more than enough speed for what I use the internet for (mostly ordering crap I don't need from Amazon and then having to return it after it doesn't live up to the hype...I guess I could survive with DSL!!!!!)
Good looking router but it died in less than a year
April 15, 2016
I don't usually review my products but when I do, I try to have tested them thoroughly. I give this one 2 stars because it has a nice interface, it's easy to use and gives you a good range of options for the price. But it looses the rest in reliability! At the beginning, it worked great, good steady signal! Now, not so much.I've been using it for 10 month now and for about a month, the connection is constantly dropping! It's a one floor, 3 bedroom apartment and More often than not, I don't get a signal 30 ft away from the router. Sometimes I get a full signal, but the connection randomly drops and I've to reboot it in order for it to work again. I've cox 55 Mbps, I'm sitting right next to the router while writing this review and the connection speed reads 3-5 Mbps. When I connect my computer directly, it reads 50-60Mbps. I've connected my boyfriends router and with his I do get the full internet speed. This is a pretty good looking router but I would NEVER buy it again, it is just not reliable! In just one year, it is ready to go into the trash!
Doesn't work in most hotels
June 17, 2014
Works fine in a bed & breakfast where the WiFi is not secure. In a hotel that doesn't ask for a password, just that you click to accept their Internet policy, it does not work.I contacted Securifi tech support and got this:Run the setup on the Almond in Range Extender mode as usual, even though the status might show "Internet Disconnected", please try connecting any of your client devices to the Almond's network and when you try to go online you would receive the login page, proceed with that to get the internet connection working. This did not work so they suggested:Check with the Hotel Wi-FI IT Support to see if they allow an extender to connect to their network or not. Check with them and once you get the confirmation that there is no restriction.I don't have time nor the inclination to trace down the hotel IT support, especially, arrives after their work day or on a weekend. There are other cheaper solutions for the bed and breakfast, I'll wait for someone to work out the hotel policy page problem.
Easy to start, powerful, & dissapointing :(
September 3, 2013
I got this router after looking at reviews that noted the efficiency and ease of start up. I was pleasantly surprised with how intuitive installation was compared to two other routers I have used in the past. The efficiency was even more positive. I have had a number of problems with band width while using the past router (media link). I thought the problem was most likely going to be my ISP not providing enough band width, but two weeks later and I have not had any issues with streaming video on two televisions while people were also using computers. Prior to using almond I could not even watch streaming video without infrequent interruptions on one television while all computer use was halted. This router is definitely worth the money for anyone needed more efficient use and worth even more money still to people that have problems starting up new routers. I do not know how it could be easier or better. Unless it dies in the very near future my next purchase of a router will be this same one or a newer similar version.Update: It died in the very near future. Mere months after purchase and it shows no signs of life. No power at all and yes I tried other outlets and cords to no avail. I sent several e-mails and eventually had a very challenging conversation with someone that spoke English as a third or fourth language. Now I have printed off a label and must take it to UPS to ship to somewhere in New Jersey. Customer service at first seemed great, but now it is below my tolerance level. Praying and hoping my jumping through these hoops will be worth some of my wasted time and effort. My current rating is based on where I am at now in the customer no service process. I will update in the future with the final out come.

NICE EXTENDER, BUT CS IS ANOTHER STORY
November 9, 2017
I wanted to love this extender. I really did....It connected easily, but then when I told it to secure the network via the existing passwords it began to drop off the network. It did so frequently. I reset, did it all over and it just did not seem to want to be a secure network. I tried different passwords...still dropped. I called Customer service, and they connected me to a Pay for Service group that took me thru a bunch of stuff before telling me they charged $129 to get me online. It was a new router, and I thought how absurd to charge for helping a customer with a JUST PURCHASED extender. I called amazon and advised them that I would be returning the extender, and NOT paying for a service that should be free. (at least for the first 90 days, anyway.)
Does not extend signal well- outlet poorly placed
August 31, 2017
Very unimpressed with this product. It creates a new 'network' using your current WiFi network name + 2GEXT or 5GEXT. You then connect to that network instead of your original. Doesn't extend signal well and extended signal is significantly slower than original which is available at same location. Helped 5G a little, but not much.

I also wanted to get this model with the extra outlet as it is placed in an area with limited outlets. The design is poor in that the plugs is at the bottom so if you use the top outlet of a standard double outlet, the 3 prong cord you plug into this device will usually hang down and block the lower outlet on the wall. If you plug this device into the lower outlet, you block the top wall outlet. Makes the extra outlet cumbersome to try to use.
Worked fine for 30 days but then.....
August 21, 2017
Easy 5 minute setup and now I have no dead spots anywhere in or around my house. Although not mentioned anywhere except in a few obscure reviews, you need to be aware that with any of these "range extenders" or repeaters, you are trading bandwidth for coverage. Because in repeater mode they re-transmit the signal from your wireless router, the speed of your connection will be about half of what the router is putting out. This is fine if your ISP is giving you enough bandwidth to start with. In my case, my router is putting out a little over 100 mps and this range extender is pumping about 60 mps to the formerly dead spots in my home.

**** Update 9/13/2017 - I guess I should have waited longer to review this range extender. After about 30 days, you cannot connect to this extender on the 2,4 gz band. It is putting out a signal but it will not allow a connection and rejects the logon credentials. Redoing the setup will allow a connection for a day or two but then it starts rejecting connections all over again. It is configured in normal mode (not Fastlane) using the same login credentials as the parent router and there is no problem at all with connecting through the 5gz band.

I have contacted Netgear customer support but based on other customer comments I don't expect any response this century.

I have downgraded my review to 3 stars. I might have gone lower but it works well on the 5gz band and was awesome until this problem showed up. I will update again if Netgear ever resolves the problem.
Underwhelmed
January 15, 2017
Bought this thinking my new verizon quantum router was crap. Installation was easy, both bands connected fine and the signal appeared strong where it got placed? The speedtest on my PS3 and speedtest.verizon.net on the chromebook told a different story. Got about 2/3's the speed on the PS3 and half out of the chromebook? The PS3 can only connect up using 2.4ghz by design but the chromebook can connect to 5ghz. I thought the extender combined the two channels for an increase in speed from reading the box, but that doesn't appear the be the case?
Updated - And not good!
December 28, 2016
*** UPDATE October 10, 2017 ***I was originally very happy with the range extender, but with nearly one year of experience on which to report, the news is not good. My original range extender began showing signs of degradation within a month or two, but it was hard to determine whether it was an environmental problem, a Comcast problem, or a hardware problem because my test results were hard to quantify. Often a simple reboot restored performance, so I reserved blame on the cause for several months. Then, I noticed that the hi-frequency (5Ghz) band just stopped working altogether and the speed on the low band dropped off like a rock. I am 75' LOS to the R7000 router, so signal was not the problem. Since you get a measly 90 days of phone support, I requested a replacement under the 1-year hardware warranty, and this is when it got weird... I was told that I needed to have phone support diagnose the problem, but phone support refused to take my call. Even after explaining that I had been referred, I still got the runaround (LOUD ALARMS SOUNDING!!!!). It took an unambiguous tone and a few carefully chosen words to trigger the warranty replacement, and this was received about two weeks ago. When I plugged that unit in, everything seemed to be in perfect order. Setup was straightforward, and performance was as expected. The extender was delivering 40Mbps at the 2.7Mhz band! I was relieved! Then, this morning after a week away, my performance is down 10x on BOTH bands! I've reset the router and extender... TWICE, and the results are the same. So, what has changed? Is this an aging issue? The R7000 router continues to function perfectly in the main house and I have zero complaints about it's performance, but this EX7000 range extender is just full of unpleasant surprises. If this continues to fail, I will post an update. For now, I cannot recommend this product.
I have a smart home, and my devices only work half the ...
December 6, 2016
I have purchased this product a week ago, and I am experiencing intermittent connection loss to the networks I have created on this device. I am using it as an access point, so it is connected via ethernet to my modem. Every few minutes, all my devices get disconnected from it. Not reliable at all! I have a smart home, and my devices only work half the time because of the problem with this device. When it is working, its good, but for a $100+ is a total failure.

Doesn't work, very slow interface
March 4, 2017
I have had this for 2 months now and have had nothing but problems with it. It will connect fine for a while and then just stops connecting. I use it as a range extender and if the network router (apple) has to be reboot, then the almond stops connecting. And to restart this thing takes painfully long. It's the worst device I've had for a range extender and yet pricey. Wouldn't recommend it.
Works for 2 weeks...
February 28, 2017
Very easy set up, had it connected in no time as a range extender. Problem is, every 2 weeks. It looses connection with the main router. And everytime it does that. I have to reset it back to factory settings, AND reset the main router... talked to technical service, they were no help... basically told me to do everything I already did, and if it doesn't fix it, can tact seller for warranty..
Very disappointed!!
February 1, 2017
I used this exclusively as a range extender and It worked great until I had to change my home router. Now, after having to enter a new password for the new router, it gets hung up and can't find the IP address. I've now seen the reviews about how this was a known defect and the company supposedly had stopped shipping the defective units. They didn't. I got this barely 4 months ago. I'm very disappointed and angry that the company (or Amazon, not sure whose fault it is) continues to sell the defective products. The window for returning it has closed, but I intend to keep pushing for a refund of my $70.
Good thing the set up process is so fast, because I have to perform it every couple of days in order to get this thing to work.
January 24, 2017
It's great it's so easy to set it up, because every couple days, it completely stops working, and I have to go through the whole setup process all over again. The time that I've spent during the dozens of times I had to go through the set up process all over again far surpasses the amount of time I would've spent had I just bought a better router that didn't crash every other day, despite it having a more complicated set up process. I would not buy this again.
Fail as a range extender.
December 24, 2016
Disappointed. Please note, that I purchased this item as a range extender, and not as a router. This unit does not work as a range extender. The Almond unit constantly disconnects from the wifi. It has failed to reconnect, despite multiple attempts to reconnect. There is adequate signal in the room to reconnect to. As a design, the unit works via wifi as a range extender. It does not allow connection to an ethernet as a range extender, which is a poor design. If connected to the ethernet wire, the Almond functions as a router, and attempts to take over the function of the original router.Totally diasppointed.
Not Reliable, Failed After Just Six Months
February 28, 2016
Nice device. I setup in 3 minutes with most that time booting up or saving settings. The first screen that came up asked if I wanted router or extender mode. I selected extender. It then displayed all networks currently in range, which,of course, included mine. I selected my network and put in the password. Within seconds, it was up and running.I'm using it in a back corner of the house that has a weak signal from the router. Right away, my devices in that room went from 2-3 bars to the full 4 bars. The signal from Almond is stronger at the router than the router signal is at Almond. (I'm using a Time Warner Arris modem/router.) Its also nice that the screen timeout can be set to display a clock or the weather.I do have three feature wishes - 1) it would be nice if the device could be mounted on a wall, 2) in addition to clock or weather displays, maybe it could have a picture screen saver setting, and 3) it would be nice if it was 5.0GHz as well as 2.4GHz. Other than that, its a great little device. It works well as an extender. I'll update with an edit if I run into any issues.EDIT UPDATE (04/25/16): I've used this thing for two months now and have found some issues. First, it does not remember settings. When the internet goes out, you have to go through set-up again. It only takes a few minutes, but its still annoying. The range and signal strength is still good though.Second, the screen appears to be going white. The screen has gotten all blotchy and getting harder to see. Its like a white burn-in effect. The colors are no longer bright and bold as they are in the pictures, but rather white washed out. I might expect something like this with an older item, but with only two months of use, I expect the screen quality to last longer. In six months, I probably won't even be able to see the screen.EDIT UPDATE 2 (04/30/16) - After updating my review above, my brother decided to go to the Securifi site ([...]) to see if they would help. We started a chat with customer support there. The rep asked for the order number and instantly had all the Amazon order information. He then asked if we could send a picture showing the screen, which we did. Immediately, the rep issued an exchange authorization and emailed a shipping label. The day after I mailed the old Almond back, while it was still en route, I received an email stating a new unit had been mailed. I received the new unit yesterday, set it up, and now everything looks great.I was very impressed with Securifi's customer service. The was no messing around, checking settings, rebooting, etc. As soon as I showed there was a problem, they were eager to replace my Almond. They shipped the new unit unexpectedly fast and, in all, I was only without the range extender 3 days. The item seems to work great and customer service is EXCELLENT. I would highly recommend.EDIT UPDATE 3 (07/06/16) - Now that I've had a few months to use this thing, I'm really starting to dislike it. Every few days, or when the modem shuts down for whatever reason, the Almond will not reconnect when the modem is back running. I have to go through all the set-up and, even then it does not connect. It will only connect again after I have 1) gone through set-up once, 2) restarted the modem, and 3) go through the Almond set-up AGAIN. If I just do the set-up once after modem restart, it will not connect. I have to go through the set-up before and after the modem restart. When it works, it works great. But it is a major pain when the power goes out or the modem resets. It simply is not that dependable.EDIT UPDATE 4 (07/13/16) - I'm changing my review from 3 stars to 1 star. Now its disconnecting several times a day. This thing is no good. It just is not reliable and it only lasted six months. I would not recommend it.

Don't Waste Your Money
September 15, 2017
If I could give this negative stars, I would. This replaced a Netgear that worked great until a power surge got it. This thing was a real challenge to get set up and then randomly just dropped signals. Then when our provider updated our gateway, it stopped connecting at all. Went through the reset steps, set it up as if out of the box, and still won't work. And, of course, too late to return it. I doubt I will ever buy another Netgear anything.
Made my 5 Ghz network much slower
September 13, 2017
I got this having pretty high expectations, and it was extremely disappointing. The setup was straightforward; I logged into the website walked through the installation process. I have one gig fiber optic in my home, I was literally outside my window 10 feet away from the router, getting only 1 Mbps. I went upstairs where I was looking for a little boost up there as well with even a worse result. I completely agree with the first review that was written for this product. I wanted this to work it would solve many headaches instead it will be getting boxed up and returned.
Buggy solution for 5ghz
September 12, 2017
The product does not work as advertised. I'm experienced in connecting switches / routers / and various network equipment. I followed the directions of the installation and chose the WPS connection method. Which on the surface seemed to work and connect to my Netgear R9000 router. However, that is where things go south. The extender displays a series of White LEDs, one that signifies connection strength via White / Amber or out. The LED was solid white and all indicators signified a good connection for both the 2.4GHZ and the 5GHZ wireless. All my 2.4GHZ connections appeared to be solid. However, the 5GHZ would connect disconnect and display messages that authentication failed. I redid the setup manually and again via WPS. Each time my 5ghz devices would have a number of disconnections or very slow speeds. I finally reached out to Netgear support and opened a ticket and have yet to hear back from anyone at Netgear. I will be boxing this unit up and sending it back to Amazon as I will wait for a more solid and fully tested solution.

August 3, 2017
Absolute piece of junk. This seemingly innocent looking device cost me too much of my time, sanity, and patience, all of which ran out one night after a 3 hour phone call with the Netgear support team who admitted that they could figure out why it was not working, but that I could pay out of pocket for additional over the phone help......yeah, no thanks. Save yourself the trouble and buy a different extender.
No good - steer clear
June 6, 2017
As a wifi extender, totally not happy with this at all. After several sessions with tech support and firmware updates, it now sits on my desk. At some point I will be using it as an access point once I get the wiring through the house. Wish I never bought it.
Form factor is good. Cons
December 4, 2016
Pros:
It is fast when it is working.

Form factor is good.

Cons:
Why do I have to create an account that gets mirrored to NETGEAR's servers? The product may be able to function stand-alone, but there is zero reason I should be forced to sign up for a support forum account in order to use the product.

The web interface is extremely slow.

Fastlane (backhaul on one band with clients on the other) intermittently dropped routing using the latest two firmware revisions (1.0.0.40 and 1.0.0.44) and the router configuration page showed incorrect connectivity status while doing so.

Non-Fastlane (backhaul on same band as clients) intermittently dropped routing using the latest two firmware revisions (1.0.0.40 and 1.0.0.44).

If the extender cannot connect the WiFi AP being extended, it still allows clients to connect to it and starts handing out IP addresses using its own DHCP server. If you network setup doesn't use a DHCP range of 192.168.1.x, you are going to be confused and/or sometimes end up with clients that have an IP that isn't correct for your network.

Bottom line:
It is going back. Routing is unreliable and the unreliability is frustrating as devices roam to it and then lose internet connectivity due to the routing issues or roam to it only to lose internet connectivity hours later. I'm ordering some Ubiquiti Unifi equipment as I am fed up with consumer grade equipment such as this device.
