Excellent product, easy to use.
October 12, 2017
Excellent product, easy to use. The tape works well and the insulating plastic is easy to cut to size. I can tell the difference in the temperature of the house now that I've added this to the upstairs windows for the winter. It works really well and saves on the heating bill. It's not aesthetically pleasing, but it doesn't look terrible either. I'd say it's worth it. I especially like this product because it lets the sunshine in for the plants but keeps out the cold.
Your wallet will thank you for buying this

This is a terrific product. It's a pain in the butt to install if you try and rush the process. So take your time. Is it worth the money and effort spent to install this? Absolutely. I had no idea just how bad a draft there was in my house until I install this on my door. Once I was confident that there was a good seal, the sheet inflated up like a balloon almost instantly. There was a heck of a lot of cold air blowing in and a lot of my money heating up the world before I installed this. I bought 2 for 2 doors and there was enough left over for some small windows although I bought a few window kits too. The rewards are worth the effort. Your wallet will thank you later.
Keep Your Heat Inside
May 30, 2017
Covered 5 windows with this package and have plenty left over for more. I used this on our cold, drafty bedroom and after putting these on we noticed it was not as cold. These aren't miracle workers, but they will make a difference on your drafty windows. They do require some work to put up, but they are well worth it.

April 7, 2017
This really worked to help insulate my house with drafty single pane windows. If you stretch it properly, you will barely notice the film over the window and you can see out of it clearly. Made a huge difference.Tip: have a large clean surface (dining room table) to unfold the sheets onto for cutting. You don't want fibers from carpets etc to get onto the film or they could end up stuck between the film and window when you put it up.Also not that this does not stick to tile surfaces.
Combo with any heater and you won't have cold worries this winter for any bedroom.
March 8, 2017
Dude, this is the most affordable first considered solution against the cold. Buying a heater comes after this purchase. Seal your windows this winter to moderate the heat from escaping easily through the windows. Follow up with a heater.I purchased this heater Lasko 5397 Ceramic Pedestal Heater with Remote Control from amazon as well. It's a done deal for a bedroom after that. Remember to turn off before sleep, it can make your space very very warm with both of these items keeping you toasty.
The best product for insulating windows
February 5, 2017
We have used two other brands over the years that were barely sufficient and their version of 'clear' view was questionable. Our windows are 60"x72" and 3M kit was easy for the two of us to install. The 3M Window Insulator Kit is nearly invisible. I say nearly because we have a slight wrinkle in the plastic in one of the windows which makes it obvious that there is plastic on the windows, our fault, not the fault of the product. We definitely will buy this brand again.

awesome
April 29, 2017
we have old wood type windows that the wind seems to go through no matter how much insulation and weatherstripping we use. They are an odd shape and shift in the sash. Can't put new ones because the town historical code dictates the windows have to be wood. This was awesome this winter and taking it off this week left 0 residue on the window and left the paint undisturbed.
Effective quick fix for drafts
February 17, 2017
We're in need of some window resealing, but only seem to remember when it's too cold to do it. These strips made a big difference. They're easy to use. They're pretty sticky, but not too sticky. Once on the widows, they aren't noticeable. They almost work too well, as now it's even more likely we'll forget about the window work in the appropriate season to do it.
Protects againsts drafts!
January 14, 2017
I bought 3 rolls after I had seen our daughter and son-in-law use similar 3M product on their drafty, leaky windows. Ours are somewhat drafty. We have casement windows and live in a ranch style house. Not all of our windows required this, thankfully. Because these windows are casement, they don't have the extra middle "line" of double-hung windows requiring more product. It made an immediate difference. It was a really inexpensive and worthwhile purchase. Energize Ct was also at the house for an energy audit and said it made a big difference on drafts and heat loss. I will need to re-purchase for the fall.I was emailed and asked if this stops noise. We live in a very quiet neighborhood, not too far from a bigger street in town that runs north and south. We hear some traffic on occasion. The biggest thing now is the end of a nor-easter storm with a lot of wind and mixed precipitation. Before this was applied, we would have heard the wind far more, but now with it, there was much less, almost none.
Excellent Sealing
January 5, 2016
Perfectly solid weather sealing tape I bought quite a bit due to old drafty 100 yr old home. Works perfectly and stays in place even as temps dip below freezing it does not loosen at all. I use it with 3mil plastic sticks to it well and can be removed without tearing plastic.
Great! ...just wish there was more!
October 4, 2011
This works! My parents' house has drafty windows- the window frames are actually warped, and do not fit flush against the house. As a temporary winter fix, I taped those parts shut in our laundry room (a 4x9 room with two 3x4 windows) and we've noticed a decent change. I've started covering up other frames, but we're now out of tape. Wish there was more per roll. The tape is very thick, and does not come with a cutter- you need to slice them with scissors (don't try tearing) It is easy to apply and reapply, but catches fingerprints easily. Will update at the end of winter about the ease of peeling off this tape!
Terrific Energy Saver
December 21, 2010
This high quality, easy to use product probably paid for itself in less than 2 weeks. The heavy guage material is simple to trim & install in minutes. The adhesive is very strong, yet until you burnish it down, it's rather easy to re-position into final placement. Have an air leak - Get This Item!

Great for holding light indoor film but also seem to hold up outdoors...
February 17, 2017
I bought this so that I could extend the window film kits to cover more windows and it worked great: it's exactly the same as the tape that comes with the kits. I also used it to adhere some heavier clear vinyl to my window screens and it worked well for that, too. Despite the fact that it's supposed to be for indoor use only, it's still holding well half-way through a Colorado mountain winter with temperatures regularly down to the single digits. One of the reasons that I used it instead of permanent mounting tape was so that I could more easily remove the vinyl from the window screens when spring finally arrives (I really only needed it to hold the vinyl in place until the screens were re-installed in the window - after that the window frame holds it in place). I thought that once it got cold, it would release on its own. So far, that doesn't seem to be the case: it looks like I may have to work to remove it after all!
Frustration free backing removal!
December 11, 2016
Double-sided tape of this nature can be an exercise in complete and utter frustration when it simply refuses to give up the paper backing. That is not the case with this at all. It is easy to use and peels cleanly with very little effort. And it easily held heavy plastic. I highly recommend this product!
This is the best
December 8, 2015
Don't waste you money on any other window insulating tape. This is the best, and usually comes off very easily at the end of the winter, or if you want to leave it on until next winter it often maintains it's adhesiveness very well for a second year. Many of the other brands deteriorate and do not hold the film on very well. Sometimes they come off--having stuck to the plastic. Other times the adhesive part of the tape remains stuck to the window frame and then you've really got a mess. I've found that using a sharp-pointed knife works the beat for lifting up the removable paper, to get it started--once you've got it on the window frame.

If you're filming large #'s of windows you'll need an extra roll or two of this. Tip: NEVER cut the backing, ONLY cut the 2-sided tape while yo'ure working and save yourself HOURS and HOURS of trying to separate the tape from the backing.
Perfect. Sticks well and removes cleanly without damaging surfaces. Shrinks perfectly with the window film.
February 7, 2015
This tape is the most perfect window sealing film mounting tape I could ever ask for. Buy the wider one if you are going to tape multiple pieces of the film together and use this to bind air-tight. It sticks super easily and doesn't fall off on it's own. We have left some windows covered for two years and the tape held. When you go to remove it doesn't damage the paint when coming off. Nor does it leave a sticky residue. Shrinks nicely with the warmth from the blow dryer. Highly recommend! I used it with Thermwell V8425 84" x 25' Shrink Wind Film Window Shrink Kit .
Get extra tape if you are using any of the Scotch kits
January 29, 2012
I use this with the other Scotch indoor insulator packages, (like their "Indoor Window Insulator Kit" for 1 XL window). If you measure all your windows first, then lay out the shapes and measurements on a blank sheet of paper so the shapes fit together efficiently and you are not wasting big sections of plastic, you can seal up quite a few windows with even just one 1 XL window kit. BUT - you will need extra tape. None of the Scotch kits I've ever used had enough tape, so do yourself a favor and just buy an extra roll of this tape up front.None of the stores in my area carry this, but at least with Prime shipping I can order it here and have it in a few days. I have tried using other brands of double sided tape for sealing windows, but they're terrible. This is THE tape to use for the job.One tip: have a pair of tweezers handy when you are doing your windows. That way, when you feel like you are in some bizarre yoga position trying to get the tape in the right place for the window to get sealed correctly, you do not have to spend 2 minutes messing with the edge of the tape to get the plastic seal to pull away from the sticky part. Being able to reach up and just pull the tiny little tab away with tweezers is much, much easier.

Works fine... But amazon sent the wrong Kit!
November 2, 2017
I have ordered this for the past 3 years. It works great for its intended purpose. The taor does pull up the paint on the door, but for the amount of money it saves, it's worth it. However, this last order, Amazon sent the wrong kit (See photo)... it should work fine and I would return it, but I don't have 2 months to wait, nor do I want Frost King.
and in the winter it gets pretty cold in her office
April 12, 2017
I bought this kit twice for my co-worker. She sits in front of a drafty door, and in the winter it gets pretty cold in her office. The first time I put this up, it was a little bit of a hassle. It's the nature of the plastic - it's almost like using cling wrap. The second time I put this up I knew what I was getting myself into. I took extra precaution, and tried my best to get the plastic aligned nicely with the door frame. Some of the plastic pulled away from the door frame after I used a blow dryer to tighten the plastic (kind of like shrink wrap). I used some packing to cover the gaps in the plastic. It worked well enough. My co-worker told me she felt a signifiant decrease in the draftiness of the doorway for both applications. So, I guess this wrap can be a little forgiving as my first application wasn't as good as the second.Overall, I would suggest this product to my friends and family.

December 20, 2016
This product is amazing! I live in an upper flat of a house built in the later 1920's. The windows are new, but poorly insulated walls means a high heating bill. The window in my kitchen and bedroom were terribly drafty and I could FEEL the cold air seeping into the house. Since installing the plastic over the windows I do not have any leaky windows or cold drafts. The house remains evenly heated and I can sleep peacefully at night without the drafty cool air blowing through the windows. The reason I gave it a four out of five was because taping the windows and putting on the sealant can be a little tricky. The paper is VERY clinging, but sturdy so if you do not do it right the first time you can gently remove the wrap and try it again. Overall amazing product! I definitely made the right choice.
Works really well, but a hassle to install and take down
November 23, 2016
The window insulation kit actually works really well - if you can tape up the plastic and get it sealed correctly. I have large windows in my apartment with built-in blinds that I had to work around, and it was extremely challenging to install the plastic on my own. At least the plastic is repositionable on the tape. Once up, the room was noticeably warmer and less drafty, but it was a hassle to take down again in warmer weather. I think this would be really nice if you have seriously drafty windows that need sealing and have a friend to help you do the work, but for me the hassle wasn't worth using this more than one season. I ended up just buying some weatherstripping and using that between the window pane and sill for the next winter, which worked almost as well to block drafts and doesn't require as much work.
Hopefully will save us some money for the winter
March 10, 2016
We bought these window insulators for our townhome windows. They are original so from 1994. We use them directly on our drywall. It recommends that you do not do that. We did not have another option. When removing them there was no paint or marks that were left on the window. There was one window that I cut short and was a constant problem in my bathroom. I don't know if it was short cutting or the humidity that affected the two-sided tape. I will say I could feel the cold air draft coming through where the tape and plastic came off. That had me believe that these insulators were actually working. Even though I messed up with the window. I did not have a problem with any of the other for you with those I did. But these were all bedroom windows and did not have the humidity from the bathroom. I still gave this 4 stars because I believe it was human error and not product error.
2 Window Kit perfect for 1 large window
February 4, 2016
I purchased the 2 window kit for my extra large bedroom window. What is nice about this kit is the plastic comes in one large piece, which you can manually cut into two parts to use for two different windows. My bedroom window is really large (actually consists of two windows), so the uncut plastic was just the right size to use. I've noticed that our bedroom window is quite draft in spots, and when heating the entire apartment, the bedroom always feels significantly cooler. While is wasn't easy to install the window kit, I was able to put the plastic over the window by myself. I used a hairdryer on the highest hot setting to tighten the plastic up after it was installed. Once issue I was worried about is my window has a lip which is use to lift it open to open. I was able to successfully place the plastic around and under the lip, onto the frame of the window, and after heating the plastic film, the lip did not puncture the plastic. So far, I've noticed a lot less draftiness in the bedroom since putting this item up. Overall, the room still feels a lot cooler than the rest of my apartment, but I have noticed a generally positive improvement in the chill I'd feel coming from the window.

Good tape, small amount
October 11, 2017
The tape is great, but a roll doesn't go very far. I wanted to buy a roll of high quality plastic sheeting to winterize my windows as I don't care for the shrink film kits.. I bought this tape to put it up.. one roll didn't even do 2 windows.. bummer.. good tape though
Okay for edging, not applying, of window film
December 1, 2016
It's thick and not too sticky, but does its job. This tape goes over the edges of window film after it's installed, or over cracks. It is not double-sided, so it can't be used to stick the window film tightly. Easy to remove. Not much on each roll, however. I found each roll can do about 2-3 average windows, max.
Easy to apply
April 30, 2016
I previously asked a question on whether or not this tape would stick to my crown molding and the wall to keep attic dust from coming down into my room. Two answers suggested I try it. I live near Houston where it is nothing but hot and humid. This tape was put up 3 weeks ago with no sign of peeling. It is still removable and replaceable. The 4 stars is because there is not much of it. It required 2 full rolls to seal the smallest bedroom in my house. Since I am too old to be high on a ladder this tape is a workable alternative.
Did a nice job of adhering to both window and insulation sheet
March 3, 2016
Liked the way it sealed material to window without leaving a gummy residue on window rungs upon removal.
Great temporary fix to drafty windows
December 23, 2015
Bought this tape to close up drafty (very old, 1070's) windows in apartment. Great solution for temporary fix!! It helped lower heating cost and apartment definitely feels a lot warmer and less drafty. Also applied to areas in kitchen where I can feel the cold air coming through. The only problem I had with this tape was that the roll didn't provide enough for the amount of money you spend. I went to one of the huge hardware stores and bought a non-brand version for 3 times as much tape for about the same cost. It was called weatherseal tape. Same transparency and stickiness.Won't buy this one again.....but I'm glad I did buy it initially since I wasn't aware of the product before I saw it on Amazon.
Oops. Great product, but not what I needed.
December 21, 2015
I can see how this product is meant to work now that I've tried using it for the intended project. I must say, if I had known what this is like (and additionally what I actually should have bought) prior to purchase, I would not have bought the tape. However, that said, this is a great product. The tape is thick and sturdy. It comes off the roll very easily. It is wide, so can fold up on itself though. I could see applying this would be almost a two person job.Overall, I recommend this for weather sealing windows and doors. And it's not the products fault that I actually was supposed to buy weather stripping (haha).

So far, way better than the Frost King double-sided tape
November 29, 2015
I've used the Frost King brand tape for years, and while it works OK and is less expensive, it can be hard to work with (doesn't always stick well right off, the backing tape could be hard to get off in one piece, and by March, often it would be losing grip). Switched to this tape this year, and so far, I'm pretty happy with it. Initially it sticks much better than the Frost King tape, both to my window frame and to the plastic film, and the backing tape removes very easily and almost always in a single strip. Time will tell if it holds up better through the winter, but so far, I'm glad I made the switch - the reduction in frustration so far has justified the extra cost.

Not as expected

Very annoying to install. Followed the instructions to a T but then when it was time to stick the plastic on the Tape, there wasn't enough material to span across the window. I suggest cutting the plastic after it's taped to the window sill

May 11, 2017
I got this to reduce condensation on my windows, which was promoting mold growth. It did that somewhat, but the tape came loose on at the top on 2 of the 5 windows I applied it to. Ironically, when I removed the plastic from those windows, it took off some of the paint from the bottom of my window frames. So it was simultaneously not strong enough and too strong. The product did seem to reduce condensation on the windows where it remained up.
Works ok
May 18, 2016
Easy to install, but I never felt like it did the job well. Maybe I was expecting too much, but it was still so cold inside our New England ground floor room.It comes in one long sheet, and needed to be cut to size. Our windows are pretty big, and it worked well. Make sure to hold it up to the window first, though, to make sure you can get two windows covered. I nearly cut it in half the wrong way, which would have been a bummer as it would not have covered even one window fully.
Good idea, not for our windows
March 29, 2016
Our apartment was built in the 70s, you know, back when insulation was not a concern. Some friends of ours used this in their apartment and it worked great, so we thought we'd give these a try this winter to keep our place a little warmer. We watched the video and read the instructions. If you have vertical blinds you will have to take them down or else you will be ripping them down in frustration when you're halfway through. The plastic was hard to apply straight on the window, kind of like a screen protector on a phone. I think we should have allowed more than the recommended tolerance (but maybe our windows are crooked). It probably would have been easier if we had the window frames like the ones in the video. Unfortunately, it turned out that our windows were not made for this as they are inset square and the border is just a matte painted wall. When applying heat, the plastic started pulling off the wall and it took some of the paint with it (woops). One window worked great and is still securely attached. Overall, I don't feel like it made much of a difference in the temperature of the house, I think this would be better for someone who at least has insulation in the walls, but just has poor quality windows and wants to cut down on the draft. Also, the amount of plastic waste it creates is substantial and as an environmentally conscious person, I just can't justify throwing away this much every year. 3M should consider making the plastic reusable or recyclable!
Not Great, but gets the job done
February 12, 2016
I normally don't write reviews but since this product was an important purchase, I decided to. My home has no basement so it is on a concrete slab which means in the winter the first level of my home gets extremely cold. I have hardwood floors and have found no real solution to my problem. So I figured why not start with the windows and door. The product comes packaged nicely. You will need two people to do this. I did it alone and survived but it takes way more time and can be slightly frustrating. The film itself tears easily so be careful when handling it. I messed up a nice size piece. I wish the material was a bit more sturdy. So far, they have stayed up on my windows using the tape that was provided in the package. I have noticed slight wrinkles in the window application which lets me know some degree of cold air is escaping. Overall, this is ok. It's not the greatest, but it get the job done. I just wish the material was a tad more tough. You can't not see that I even have them on my window, which is a plus.
Great at Fixing Draft and Stabilizing Temperature, but Doesn't Survive Strong Gusts and Difficult to Put Up (For Newbies)
November 18, 2015
Pros:* Definitely stops draftsCons:* Difficult to put on the first time; tip: after putting up the tape, don't remove all the backing at once. Instead, expose a small piece of tape and attach the plastic to that. Then, expose a little more tape and attach the plastic to that. Work your way around the windows frame in this manner.* Does not survive gusty windows (with really drafty windows): We had a wind storm last night. The wind seeped in through window and inflated the plastic like a balloon. Strong gusts inflated the plastic so much that it pulled off from the frame.Summary: I love how it reduces the draft and stabilizes the temperature in my apartment, but I absolutely hate putting the plastic up and fixing it.

Really not much different than packing tape...
May 26, 2017
Not much I can say. It's decent enough thickness. But it's hard to apply to anything but a flat surface without getting wrinkles in it, which totally defeats the purpose. Then when you hit it with a heat gun it shrinks the tiniest amount. I don't hate it, but it's nothing special either.

December 12, 2016
My room is feeling warmer. I may still need to put a blanket along the sill to keep the cold air out.
On the fence
February 6, 2016
I have used this tape on several windows and I'm still not sure what I think about it. It definitely is a quick fix approach to sealing cracks and it doesn't require any special skill or tools. To some extent, the tape definitely works but the hard thing is that I don't know how well. The cold air flow can definitely be sealed shut, but cold air will still permeate the tape.I don't feel like there is any particular risk to our paint job as I had to lift the tape several times to get it applied just right. It is adhesive and sure but not aggressively so. If done right, it is not very apparent that it is even applied. However, that kind of result either takes a LOT of patience or maybe a natural touch. If not done well, it can look really sloppy. Getting the tape into a corner without it sticking to one side before I was ready took some practice. I found using smaller lengths of tape made the process easier to manage. The package doesn't come with a way to cut the tape and it cannot just be ripped. You will need scissors to make a clean cut. I think this tape is a fine short term solution, but I will likely remove it and caulk/patch for a cleaner, more long term solution.
Is this just packaging tape???
January 20, 2014
Well, I think this stuff is just really thick packaging tape that is overpriced. Used it in my windows and haven't really noticed a difference. Scared about how bad it will be to remove this spring. It has a strong plastic smell also. Won't buy this again :(

March 11, 2017
Works as expected to mount shrink film window insulation. I used it this winter, and it has worked just fine. I'll buy it again next winter.
Pricy by itself
December 30, 2015
Cheaper if purchased with the window kit, but you may need extra tape nevertheless. For the intended use, does a great job. However, will not know until spring how easy it is top remove.

December 12, 2013
It's difficult to remove the tape backing, but otherwise works well. Our house is older and all the windows are non-standard, they're not even all the same size. So this along with a roll of film allows us to seal the windows. Can't speak to removing the tape yet...
window seal
December 21, 2012
I use it on window seal kits to stop drafts.Works ok as long as you get the plastic on the tape properly the first time.If you have to redo the plastic seal you will need to use new tape.It sticks great only one time, don't screw up.

Tape doesn't stick to all surfaces.
January 15, 2017
I was really disappointed in this product. I cut the sheet to size, cleaned the widow spent all this time to get it ready and the tape wouldn't stick to my paint. I then tried cleaning the paint with ammonia and then alcohol but nothing helped. Next time I am going to home depot and getting a simple plastic sheet. If you insist in trying this then I suggest you cut off a couple of small pieces of the included tape and make sure it sticks before cutting the sheet and wasting your time. That way if the tape doesn't stick you can return the kit. I ended up removing my screen and wrapping it with the plastic and using clear shipping tape to secure it before putting it back. It doesn't look good but it does the job.
No thanks.

It's fairly effective at what it claims to do, but installation is a messy nightmare. I thought I was getting something that would sort of self cling, but this is not the case. I bought three boxes and two are unopened because I have zero desire to recreate the nightmarish installation process beyond the one window I did. I'll be finding an alternate solution. I gave it two stars because the one window I did install this on is passing through noticeably less cold temps that the rest in my house.
Meh...
January 31, 2016
We just tried putting these on our windows this past weekend. Oh my goodness...it's a lot of work. It takes hours to do this. Not really at all what I expected. It's pretty much like plastic wrap on your windows held with tape....which would have been much less expensive. I can't really tell one way or another if they are helping or not. There is way more plastic wrap than tape. We ran out of tape much sooner than we ran out of plastic wrap. I wouldn't recommend these. I would not purchase again. I plan on sending the other two boxes we got back for a refund.
it still looks like cellophane across the window
December 14, 2015
My husband and I worked for an hour to get this installed on just one window. It was far more time consuming than we anticipated. Plus, even with a very thorough blow-drying, it still looks like cellophane across the window. After installing on just our bedroom window, we decided not to use the rest of the kit, since the other windows in our house are more visible to neighbors and guests, and quite frankly, this stuff is an eyesore. In all fairness, our bedroom has been noticeably warmer since we installed the plastic. So if you don't mind trading aesthetics for warmth, this product may work well for you. We have three young kids though, and the plastic is not very thick. I'm pretty sure one of them will poke a hole through the plastic long before winter is over.
All the frustration of Saran Wrap at 10 times the Price!
December 8, 2013
This product is receiving some of my wrath for the gigantic oversight of the people who built my apartment next to a dc metro station and thought single pane windows was an efficient choice-miserable failure. However, I decided not to worry, because even though the noise from metro buses, rail cars, and the general public cannot be remedied now, I can at least protect myself from the abysmal cold drafts that come from using champagne flute glass for windows. For a person that is patient, doesn't mind repeated failures and spending double to replace the materials that you wasted because the tape is stuck and ripped the original film you received- this product is a find. I partly blame myself for my frustration with this product, I was intimately aware of how much I hate using saran wrap to cover food stuffs, and this is basically the same thing only the food is much bigger and awkwardly positioned. Because I became incredibly frustrated, I do not know whether this product actually works, I've heard it may, but that's certainly not a rousing endorsement.
Not as good as they used to be
January 27, 2013
I've used window insulator kits for many years. I've tried pretty much every major brand, and 3M used to be my favorite. The quality of the tape and the plastic film always seemed superior. It would stick well, but removal was easy and rarely resulted in damage to the paint on the window frames.Over the past two years I've noticed a dramatic difference though. Every brand I've tried but one now uses inferior double sided tape that just can't hold up. The plastic will literally just pop free around the edges after a day or two. The only solution is to use a layer of outdoor weatherproofing tape over the edges of the film once everything is in place. Finally, after going through five brands, I decided to try out a bargain brand from one of the local hardware chains and found that brand is still using a quality tape, but inferior film. So I've ended up mixing and matching to get a workable solution. At the prices now being charged for these window kits, it's really sad that such steps are needed.

Not sticking well. I wound up just using packing tape.
It's kinda just tape.
March 9, 2016
I'm not sure if I was just expecting something else, but for being advertised as "weather sealing tape," it's kinda just regular ol' tape. It's a little wider than your typical office tape, and maybe a tad thicker, but you could easily confuse it for packing tape. That being said, I've had it stuck to an old window for a few months now, and it hasn't fallen off yet. So that's a plus.
Better alternatives out there ...
March 15, 2015
Short roll for the price, not as sticky as other brands I have used - ineffective on other than a perfectly smooth surfaces.

It's not enough tape for the price. Clear packaging tape works just as well for 2.99. no reason spending more for this "weather proofing" tape.

don't last long
January 31, 2014
I bought this a year ago because a lot of cold draft comes through our living room windows and balcony door. My husband and I sealed the plastic very carefully but on a really windy day, the plastic came off. It also left tape residue which is so hard to clean off! This only lasted us a month or 2.

over priced but functional
January 23, 2016
item is over priced --- could have bought an entire window kit which includes the plastic sheeting for the same price that I paid for the tape alone
Sticks well, removes paint great!

Holds well for almost the entire winter season. Prepare to repaint after you pull it off in the spring.

I was expecting better quality from this famous brand, but this tape is horrible, for indoors windows , No strong enough. No stick.
Not really happy with this batch... less than 8 weeks and it's coming down
December 31, 2011
I bought this tape to use to put plastic over our windows. I bought this specifically because the stuff that comes with the shrink window insulation is usually cheap. This stuff came down on 6 of 7 windows! I am floored and shocked and pretty upset.I put this plastic insulation over my windows every year for 10 years. This is not a new process for me.TO have one window come loose is rare. TO have 2 window seals come loose is extremely rare. To have 6 of 7 is unheard of!I"m really not pleased. And i use the Scotch brand each year. I don't know why this did not hold, my only guess i that this taps has been sitting for a long time on the shelf and it's old. Can't explain it otherwise.

Doesn’t stick
November 8, 2017
Sealing windows is something I do every year. I’ve always stuck to cheap plastic and weather tape. This year I thought I’d try the prepackaged deal just to see if it would work. Yet, I would of been better off buying plastic wrap and duct tape. The “scotch” technology is worthless and did not stick. Used on painted walls after I thoroughly washed with soap and water (left 15 mins to dry). Don’t waste your time.
Significant Fingernails Required
October 14, 2017
Extremely difficult to use. You will spend a lot of time and the most time trying to get the paper cover off the tape, a procedure that is expected to take seconds, but frankly can leave you giving up in frustration, never to get the cover off. Long fingernails required. You know how when the scotch tape sticks to the roll and what a pain it is trying to find the edge and peel it off, well that's what you have here, and in spades. If you want lots of frustration this is the product for you.
Not worth the effort

super difficult to apply on bigger windows
This didn't work for me.
March 5, 2017
I'm really disappointed in these. I put up window film inside my house every winter. This is the first time I tried this outdoor window insulator kit. I followed the directions exactly......and 6 of the eight window, the plastic has come undone from the tape so the plastic is just blowing in the cold wind now. I'm going to try another brand next winter.
Huge waste of time and money
January 4, 2017
The included adhesive tape is too narrow and not sticky enough. I installed as instructed, and woke up to the window film on the floor. The tape was still stuck to the window frame, so was not a problem with the frames surface... it just doesn't stick to the plastic. Try another product, this one's a dud.
Do not waste money on this product!
December 19, 2016
Complete garbage, don't waste your time or money on this trash. The tape that came with this isn't even strong enough to hold up a thin sheet of plastic. I used some gorilla tape to hold the sheet up. This thin sheet of plastic does nothing to stop cold or drafts from coming through your window. I ended up using a foam insert on the window and threw this waste of money in the trash.tldr: get a foam insert for your window. It's cheaper faster and actually works unlike this product.

... work at all sealing my window that has a bad draft. I taped up all around my window
December 17, 2016
Didn't work at all sealing my window that has a bad draft. I taped up all around my window, and I haven't noticed a difference at all. I used pretty much the entire roll, so maybe if there was more tape I could have gone over it again to create a better seal. I wouldn't recommend this product.
Don't waste your money. Just buy packing tape
October 26, 2016
Just use packing tape. There is virtually no difference between the two products except price. I didn't find this tape sealed my drafty windows.
Disappointed
March 10, 2016
It's just expensive clear tape. I thought it would be thicker and substantial, since the description states "weather stripping for windows and doors". I was disappointed that it looks like packaging tape. Don't waste your money. Also not worth the return since you have to pay for the return even though the description was not accurate.

biggest ripoff for a few feet of this tape. SOOOO expensive.
Sticks everywhere.
January 26, 2014
This tape is fine if you are putting it on a flat exposed surface. If you are trying to put it in a corner or a more enclosed 90 degree angled area, forget that. It sticks to everything before you can get it where you want it.

did not stick to the window
September 29, 2016
The tape did not stick to the window. I bought this tape after I ran out of the tape that came with Duck Window Kit. The original tape lasted me for a few seasons. I still had plenty of plastic, so I bought this tape as the replacement. It does not stick to the window. I had to use a crazyglue at the ends, to prevent it from falling off. And I haven't even mounted the plastic yet! I think mine is a counterfeit.
