Five Star Reviews: | 82% Don't buy these for actual bottling. They don't work that way, but do clearly work as advertised. November 8, 2016 If you're here because these were a "recommended buy" when buying homebrew gear, turn around and try again. These are (as advertised) arts & crafts materials. They are 100% metal, contain no rubber seal, and will not seal a bottle airtight.I am rating them 5 stars as my wife is working on a Fallout cosplay, and she was thrilled when I said I didn't need these anymore. Perfect For Bottle Cap Necklaces And Hair Bows! October 15, 2016 This Pack of 100 Silver Chrome Bottle Caps Bottle caps Cap by Beadaholique are perfect for any bottle cap jewelry or hair bow making crafts. I purchased these 1 inch crown style bottle caps to use with my homemade bottle cap necklaces and homemade hair bows. I use the Euro punch tool to easily punch a hole for my necklaces without leaving rough edges and I use 6mm or 8mm open jump rings with these when making necklaces but the 6mm are my favorite and work well with these bottle caps. These lightweight but very sturdy shiny silver aluminum bottle caps are new, unused, and unlined. I am sensitive to nickel and have been wearing them for a while now without any redness, irritation, or tarnishing. The bottle caps are quite nice and are perfect for use with 3D epoxy stickers or resin. I prefer to use them with the epoxy stickers and they really stay put and keep the images clear and bubble free. Also they do not have sharp edges which are important since the necklaces I make are mostly purchased for children and subject to routine handling. I have found other brands to have sharp edges but I haven’t had any issues with these at all. The bottle caps have a beautiful shine and are much nicer than others that I have purchased previously and they look very nice with ether ball chains or ribbon cord necklaces in stainless steel or sterling silver. I highly recommend these bottle caps as they are high quality and very reasonably priced and I will definitely be buying these again! Five Stars May 17, 2015 Great product for bottle cap crafting. I used a hole punch to make a small hole, then added a ring to it, designed my insert, glued it in, then added the epoxy dot. Perfect for this scripture bookmark. These bottle caps also make good necklaces or you can add a magnet and put it on the fridge. Good quality November 6, 2014 I am happy with these caps and their quality. I started out collecting bottle caps and trying to remove the rubber lining but found with the price of these caps it just wasn't worth the effort. I do find these seem a hair larger than regular bottle caps but certainly work much better and are more open. I have been creating all kinds of projects for gifts and to sell and will certainly purchase these again. True to descrption August 22, 2013 I am very please with this transaction. My bottle caps arrived on the projected delivery date and they are true to description. They are really cute when used for magnets or on the hairbows that I make and the size is perfect. These can also be used for jewelry and other crafts. They are much better priced than the ones you can find in the craft stores. I highly recommend these! Great craft item, super fast shipping July 3, 2013 I bought these to use in crafts and all came in promised condition and the quality is good. Best of all, they arrived VERY quickly, a full week ahead of what was expected. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase and if I need more, I will order form here again. | 76% Yes they are bottle caps June 23, 2017 Work great. Even worked with a few twist offs that I tried it on. works! February 24, 2017 exactly what you need, make sure you order with the air seal, or you wont be happy :) The price was amazing for the item we got December 30, 2015 I bought these bottle caps for a school project. The price was amazing for the item we got. The caps were perfect for arts and crafts. The caps are standard size. The inside of the cap is coated in the waxy material and the outside is just a smooth silver. For our project, we had to spray paint both the outside and inside. The cap held standard paint just find and the caps were just perfect. Good seal, good brew, good deal! October 18, 2014 Since flip top bottles are expensive and recycling is cheap, I bought a capper to support my home brew hobby. These caps are very good. I have not had a bad bottle so far while sealing my malted repast with the use of these caps. The gold color contrasts well with a black magic marker, which I use to identify my various brews. I'm pleased with my purchase Great value for crafting:) December 3, 2012 I use these in crafts and am very pleased with this product.GREAT PRICE: Considering that some bottlecaps in the craft stores are selling for more than $3 for just 12 pieces, these are a great value at about 5 cents a piece.DETAILS: These caps are gold-toned (not bright, sort of antique gold) on the outside and sort of silver color on the inside. There is a liner on the inside which is relatively easy to remove by running an embossing tool around the edges then picking it up a bit and peeling it off, then just scraping off any leftover pieces. These are not flimsy. Inside diameter is 1".STUFF I'VE DONE WITH THEM OR PLAN TO DO: If you don't care for the color, you can always paint them with acrylic paint, sharpies or alcohol inks. You can flatten them pretty easily...either with a rubber mallet (a bit noisy) or by running them through a cuttlebug (FUN and FAST!). Easily able to poke holes in them with an awl or crop-a-dile.I would definitely order these again:) |
Four Star Reviews: | 5% Look nice but are very light/cheap feeling July 17, 2017 They look nice and work well but are VERY lightweight which cheapens them when using as a keychain. This might be the standard for weight though and not supplier specific. I may do some magnets with them and that will eliminate the weight issue. Great Product A++ April 22, 2017 Do not buy these for home brewing! They are for arts and crafts! The product is as described it was my mistake on the ordering it! would have liked it more if they had a hole in the ... February 21, 2017 Using it for Girl Scout Swaps, would have liked it more if they had a hole in the edge. They are very sturdy and get the job done June 22, 2015 I paint these and make buttons out of them. They are very sturdy and get the job done. Great for bows February 23, 2015 a couple came damaged but other than that they hold up well and came quickly Bottle caps October 20, 2013 Good price for how many you are getting. The picture is self explanatory. What you see is what you are getting. | 14% I like these bottle caps April 17, 2014 I have had no problems with capping, sealing, or uncapping. These seem just fine to me. Take a sharpie w no resistance. So, brew, then buy these. was a gift February 20, 2014 My husband has recently gotten into the joy of brewing craft beer. I bought him these bottle caps and a bottle capping tool for Christmas as a gift from the kids. They worked great with no leaks. These were placed on his first batch of beer, which received compliments all around. |
Three Star Reviews: | 2% Its Alright October 25, 2016 I bought these for my sister-in-law who collects bottle caps. She is a huge Fallout fan and collects different bottle caps, so I thought it'd be nice to buy her a lot to help her collection. If you're using these as actual bottle caps I wouldn't recommend them, but they'd probably be good for scrapbooking. Only for arts & crafts September 2, 2015 Bought these caps to bottle beer with only to discover that they lack the pressure sealing plastic inside that helps seal the bottles. Durable, But Not Colorfast May 26, 2013 As my first bottle cap purchase, I was pleased to get these. Sadly, once I had something to compare them to, they didn't hold up so well. They look great at first, but sometimes you'll get some caps that have some film on the inside of them that just wont come off. I've also noticed over time that they seem to yellow a little bit. When I accidentally used one of these caps in a set of themed necklaces, I could clearly tell the yellowed cap stood out against the silver ones. I don't know why they do this, but it really makes it hard to tell my customers they are silver colored when they turn a yellowish tint by the time they get the product. If you're not so worried about the color, these caps are durable and they don't dent easily. | 6% The picture makes them look more gold than they actually ... February 27, 2017 The picture makes them look more gold than they actually are. They are the standard "greenish gold" caps that come in a prepackaged box brewing kit. Wish the photo relayed the color better Good for hard cider making December 24, 2015 Works great to seal my beer bottles, kinda pricy though. But gets the job done when I am back sweeting to make fizzy cider and beer These caps were as functional as it gets. None ... November 16, 2014 These caps were as functional as it gets. None the less I seem to have found 1 not gold cap in the bag! I cant tell if the beer that got the cap is lucky or a maleficent omen. Satisfactory February 24, 2014 These bottle caps are suitable for the home brewer. They do not, however, successfully seal bottles with twist-off type rims. They are bottle caps, what are you expecting? October 2, 2013 Not sure what else you could put in a review about bottle caps, but one thing I did find was that a lot of the caps were not clean. They had some weird sticky paste on the inside of the cap that just looked gross. You should be cleaning your caps anyway, but it seemed lazy of the company to not send clean caps to begin with. |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% If you are actually using these to cap bottles, ... January 19, 2016 If you are actually using these to cap bottles, beware. While it could have been user error, I've capped plenty of bottles without leaking troubles previously. About 80% of bottles I capped with these went flat on me. I will be throwing the rest out and trying a different brand for my next batch. Did not hold carbonation July 15, 2015 Nice look, good price, but the bottles did not seal once capped. Sealed a 5 gallon batch with the same bottle, same capper, but half with these, and half with a second brand. Every single bottle with this cap was not carbonated. Every single bottle with the other caps were carbonated. | 1% Use caution faulty seals December 23, 2016 Sanitized this product and had some of the rubber seals fall outta the cap. Used 55 to cap 48 bottles Two Stars June 15, 2016 I've not used these in two years. I didn't realize you would need a machine to put them on. |
One Star Reviews: | 9% Bottle caps don't seal on the bottles. Tried several ... August 18, 2017 Bottle caps don't seal on the bottles. Tried several different ones with no luck, still loose after using a bottle capper. BeWare! October 28, 2016 Cheap, cheap cheap! Thin, no seal on the under side of the cap, all metal! My whole went flat! Don't buy this August 19, 2016 I hate this because the seller didn't described it well so I spent my money on it and couldn't return it.... Not home brewing caps like search suggested February 16, 2016 These are craft caps, not home brewing caps! There is no rubber seal. What ticks me off is that's not stated anywhere, and Amazon recommended them while buying other brewing stuff. Can never have too many caps...so I threw them in my cart. They went into stock until it was time to bottle a beer, and by then it was past the return policy deadline. NOT FOR BOTTLING - DECORATION ONLY! November 18, 2014 Description NEEDS to specify these are not intended for capping beverages (sodas and beer). I made the mistake of ordering these beautiful caps for this very purpose. The name of the company is "The Bottle Cap Company" so you naturally assume they're for capping bottles. Not so (at least not bottles with liquid). Now it's too late to return! Caps failed to seal properly. Now I'm stuck with some flat beer. November 12, 2014 Caps are awful. About half my batch was capped with these and they all must have failed to seal properly because I have a fair amount of flat beer on my hands. The ones capped with a different cap are all carbonated and fine. | 3% Are these even real May 20, 2015 I bought these to save a little money for my Kombucha making. Are these even real? I made a case and 23 out of 24 didn't seal. I had to open them all a week later an recap. What a waste. Ruined my beer. July 25, 2014 These didn't seal properly and ruined two batches of beer; $150 down the drain. WRONG item May 20, 2013 The bottle caps themselves are sturdy and nice. The review is more intended on the service; I had ordered two sets of gold crown bottle caps but I received one gold and one green set of bottle caps! I had realized the mistake after I had used the right set of gold caps and reached in for the second bag! i was in a time crunch due to using the bottle caps for a cooler for my formal date the next day and ended up not using any bottle caps for decoration. Very disappointed! Great if you want a scrap book. July 11, 2012 I bought these caps in the hopes of using them to cap my recent batch of beer. What I ended up getting were caps that are nice and shiney but have no use on my bottles. I had to make a rushed trip around town to find bottles with the lever tops so my beer wouldn't be lost. They look just like the real thing but when it came down to putting them on my bottles and crimping them they don't hold up. out of 34 bottles of beer I used 67 caps, that's nearly twice what it should have been. The ones that did end up taking caps didn't hold the pressure of carbonation. They didn't explode but instead leaked so I had nearly flat beer in a few bottles. Moral of the story: Scrapbooking/Crafts a pretty good deal for nice looking caps, Home brewer: Highly not recommended. |
