Five Star Reviews: | 82% Five Stars August 25, 2017 Some of the packets were a little clumpy, but they still dissolve in my coffee. Good product, reasonable price. July 7, 2017 I can taste the bitterness, but saccharine is time tested sweetener for no cal.I sometimes mix it with sucralose as the combination is sweeter, but for coffee it's fine alone.Price is right. Good price and convenience for saccharin April 1, 2017 Convenient to have delivered. This is saccharin and not all pink packets are. My dietician tells me this is her preference if I must use sweetener. Well, stevia is her first choice but I can't get over the licorice taste. Years ago saccharin was banned but has been re-introduced because the reasons were disproved. Five Stars March 7, 2017 I have to have Sweet n Low with my fresh brewed tea....there is no other substitute. Used sweet N Low for many years October 29, 2016 Arrived earlier than expected (10-29) thank you very much. Used sweet N Low for many years....I prefer it to sugar. Cute Coffee Station size! September 27, 2016 I drink so much coffee that I like to buy sweeteners in more of a bulk option. This fits my needs perfectly as I just sit the little stand on my coffee station. Less expensive then buying the little 50 or 100 count boxes and I get my order quick with Amazon. I have ordered this several times now and will continue to do so. | 78% This is such a good resource for information about the artificial sweetener industry and ... November 25, 2015 This is such a good resource for information about the artificial sweetener industry and how these sweeteners impact our lives. It is POISON! Excellent! July 22, 2015 Excellent read. Easy to follow. Sound science. I have changed my eating habits for the better as a result of this book. Five Stars June 29, 2015 Great price and interesting reading. The book came really quick. Love Dr Mercola! This is very sad that we can no longer trust our government to ... April 25, 2015 This is very sad that we can no longer trust our government to keep us safe. My daughter died from aspartame disease from consuming to much aspartame. It is a terrible way to die, Donald Rumsfield has killed or caused more people to die from aspartame than Hiltler. Why is it still on the market to destroy people's lives, doesn't our Food and Drug Administration care? great book! April 27, 2014 Incredibly informative! And scary at the same time! I couldn't believe all the info about the FDA, it is scary to think what our government has done to our society......and is allowed to continue to do! I have been trying to cut artificial sweeteners from my diet.....this book is going to help me make better choices! Sweet Deception December 22, 2011 This is one of the best and most comprehensive books I have ever read on the subject of the dangers of aspartame, sucralose and other artificial sweeteners. Dr. Mercola also covers the history of the sugar industry in this book. Every person alive today should read this. A very important book, if you value your health and the health of your loved ones. |
Four Star Reviews: | 11% Insignificant Shipping Damages - No Product Issues July 19, 2017 Box was slightly crushed during shipping, and the packets seem to be "vacuum packed" - there is no air in them and the powder is not "loose" like in restaurant packets.Otherwise, this product is fine. I have always liked Sweet N Low as a sugar substitute. I use it in my greek yogurt and tea. This box should last me a good long while, but I think next time I will just purchase a box at the grocery store. | 8% Very Informative - Educate yourself Peeps! July 10, 2015 Very informative, but sometimes too much medical/chemistry terminology. This book is outdated by several years. However, I found it to still be relevant. I find Dr. Mercola a knowledgeable and straight forward expert (however, I don't drink all his Kool-Aid) :0) So, why doesn't the ambulance driver recognize me yet? September 9, 2008 And so, I kept waking up in the back of an ambulance. The multiple tests I was given are going a long way toward supporting the hospital mortgage payment, but they have, so far at least, proven inconclusive. Then, one of my employees suggested the connection between certain health conditions and aspertame. I must admit I was practically addicted to diet colas, fearing the high fructose corn syrup stuff to be dangerous and fattening. So, after reading a few articles on the internet, I quit aspertame entirely, or at least for the most part, since it is probably stuck in stuff I have not scented out yet. Then, I turned to Amazon for additional nonfiction information and came up with "Sweet Deception" by Dr. Joseph Mercola. Although an index would have been nice, I found the book very interesting. Chapter 2 was particularily frightening. Read it yourself. But, it was like old home week featuring the kind of persons who would have no problem sacrificing thousands of U.S. soldiers to steal a foreign country's oil. Then, the politics of the FDA was quite disturbing...how it was taken down by America's most beloved president and fairly much run by the industries we are supposed to be protected from. Outch. Other little asides to factory farming, box store food distribution and the wastage of chemical byproducts into our environment are no fun either. Well, you can have a nice day and hope the offending industries make plenty of moola. This book deserves a serious read by anyone interested in his health. But, I am only giving it four stars because, in the long run, it will make absolutely no change in the current situation. |
Three Star Reviews: | 6% Moisture damage? September 23, 2017 I have been using Sweet n Low for many many years. Still my favorite sweetener for coffee, but it seems some moisture may have gotten to the packets in this box, as all the product inside is clumped and clings to the paper envelope. ... and must have gotten wet en route -- the sweet n low is clumpy December 4, 2015 This was shipped without an outer box and must have gotten wet en route -- the sweet n low is clumpy. It's still usable, but I can't wait until the box is gone. | 5% Self promoting October 2, 2014 I think there are some scare tactics in this book, worth a read but I didn't find it very compelling. It seemed as if he wanted you to buy products from his website at the end of the book. Sweet Deceptions March 8, 2007 I read this book as long as I could stand it - about 2/3rds. I already knew that it said all artificial sweeteners, as well as sugar, are not good for your health. It was a recitation of many, many studies and I was personally very bored with it. Previously I had read a lot internet articles on the subject and did not learn anything new from the book. But if a person was new to the idea of "sweet poison" it could be very informative. |
Two Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 5% Good fiction. October 28, 2013 Dr. Mercola writes a nice story that makes you not want to consume aspartame and other artificial sweeteners, but his book is so poorly referenced that if you wanted to check original sources to see how he got his information you just couldn't. The section on Splenda is for some reason better researched and referenced than the rest of the book, but I was more interested in aspartame and was very disappointed. He discussed research results, the company (Searle) that manufactured aspartame (now Monsanto), and much of the history of FDA and aspartame, all without much in the way of references. Those references that he did cite were other mostly popular books, anti-aspartame websites, and online articles. Very little primary resources are indicated. Overall, a great piece of fiction. Not Science April 29, 2008 Maybe aspartame is a deadly poison, but that case is not sufficiently made in this book. Unfortunately, Dr. Mercola relies on the shrill conspiracy theories of non-scientists in proving how dangerous aspartame is. For those of us who are open to the idea that aspartame and other food additives might not be as healthy as everyone claims, this book is a huge disappointment. There has to be a way to discuss these issues without exaggeration, hyperbole, and trafficking in rumor, anecdote, and urban legend. Sweet Hyperbole February 2, 2008 In Sweet Deception, Mercola and Pearsall go to great lengths to tell us that we can't trust the manufacturers of artificial sweeteners because all they want to do is sell us their products. This may be true, but after reading this book and doing a little outside reading on Dr. Mercola, I can't shake the suspicion that I shouldn't trust Dr. Mercola because all he wants to do is sell me his books and products with a sales pitch based on dubious health claims.Dr. Mercola is not the only writer urging us to limit our consumption of corn sweeteners and the products that contain them. In addition, it is probably also a good idea for us to limit our intake of artificial sweeteners. Just because a product has almost no calories doesn't mean we should consume large quantities of the product. This book is useful in that it contains references to a number of studies that suggest that Aspartame (Nutrasweet) could be a significant health threat. It also presents some research that suggest that we should not be sanguine about large-scale consumption of Sucaralose (Splenda), but the breathless hyperbole that characterizes the writing style makes me reluctant to accept the claims at face value. |
One Star Reviews: | 1% | 4% Dangerously Devoid of Science March 25, 2017 Great Narrative. Terrible Science. This whole book is conjecture disguised as science. It talks about the industry and the FDA and basically lays out how artificial sweeteners are all a big conspiracy theory to kill us. Then it talks about specific users having adverse events. At no point is compelling scientific evidence presented. The narrative continues with Sucralose. "Sucralose has this one atom that is used in a bunch of insecticides. Therefore Sucralose causes all sorts of harm in humans." Of course, none of this is backed up by any studies or research.Sweet deception reminds me of the Paleo movement and most other fad diets. Great story. But zero evidence behind it. Frauds December 2, 2016 Dr. Mercola and Kendra Pearsall are frauds. Kendra refers to herself as a Doctor / Physician on her website. She is neither, has never attended medical school and is only certified as a naturapath. Dr Mercola was sued and lost and must now pay over 5.3 million to his customers who bought into his hoax that his tanning beds due not cause cancer. These two liars and frauds and are taking you for a ride. Both live in the lap of luxury on your dime! False story June 25, 2015 I'm not that far into the book but already there is a hoax about aspartame used as an ant poison published as truth. Gives pause to my trusting anything else he writes |
