Five Star Reviews: | 50% Love this and am so happy to find a powder ... August 6, 2015 Love this and am so happy to find a powder without a ton of sugar, soy, carbs etc. Love that it is made with Stevia. No after taste and no lumps. I really like this protein powder March 11, 2015 I really like this protein powder. It tastes great, is low calorie and low carb. It is a bit pricy, but if you are using it for meal replacement as I am doing, it is a lot less expensive than purchasing any other source of protein... This protein powder tastes great and is low calorie which are the two things ... November 5, 2014 This protein powder tastes great and is low calorie which are the two things I was looking for. I used to add sweetener to our smoothies and now I don't need to- mix this with liquid, fruit and veggies and you have a great tasting, healthy drink! Good Powder February 5, 2014 My husband & I both have a shake made with this powder. We used rice milk. Few drops of all natural Sweet Drops "vanilla creme" very good. | 58% Keto dieter must have!! September 10, 2017 Quite possibly the best sweetener ever! If you're a diabetic and hate all the other sweeteners, you won't believe how good this tastes! I was like "I'll be damned if I'm going to spend $10.99 on sweetener but baking on a keto diet is hard. It's perfect! Good alternative and useful in making the many ketogenic diet ... September 7, 2017 Good alternative and useful in making the many ketogenic diet recipes. Swerve contains Erythritol, an alcohol sugar, much of which is derived from GMO sources, that can frustrate those needing to achieve ketosis. Natural, Great Tasting Sugar Replacement September 7, 2017 This is a sugar substitute which tastes delicious! No one knows I am using it and the recipes in the Ketogenic Cookbook use this along with other sweeteners to make wonderfully healthy recipes!!! the best tasting stivia sweetner June 9, 2017 This has to be, Hands DOWN, the best tasting stivia sweetner. not much of an after taste, if any. It really is sweet and measures out like sugar. I've had to throw out the ones I've purchased in the grocery store. yuck. Very Impressed! November 7, 2015 I've never found an artificial sweetener that I like, I'm very picky and would rather just do without. I read about this in a blog and decided to try it, but was prepared to be disappointed. I used it as a 1:1 replacement for sugar in a traditional baked cheesecake recipe. It was AMAZING! Zero aftertaste and completely indistinguishable from the original recipe - as confirmed by a very doubtful husband and 2 young children. I look forward to experimenting with it in more recipes! Swerve is ketogenic friendly! February 14, 2015 We love Swerve! Our daughter is on a Ketogenic diet (very low carb grams per day - 20 or less for her) for health reasons. She has brain cancer and all cancers live on glucose. We figured if we could deprive the cancer of its glucose, it might not be so aggressive (hers is an extremely aggressive type and is inoperable). The body's cells can function very well on protein and fat, but not cancer cells. So, she is still with us for more than 2 years and doing very well (the tumor has even shrunken a bit), but she misses sweets so very much. Swerve has allowed me to make ice cream for her, which she LOVES, and other low carb desserts like coconut macaroons. Her system stays well in ketosis (as tested by paper strips for diabetics), so it really is safe for diabetics to use. |
Four Star Reviews: | 29% but not at all pleased with the taste July 14, 2015 Use this product to decrease my carb intake > works ok, but not at all pleased with the taste. Will try another Protein product. Very good product, natural protein with very little assed September 12, 2014 Very good product, natural protein with very little assed. Taste good and mixes well. Only issues is it's a bit expensive. | 15% A decent Low Carb sweetener November 4, 2017 My wife alerted me to Swerve when I went on a low carb diet. After a few weeks of low carb, I got bored with the easy chicken, egg, salad life and opted for some low carb dessert recipes. I successfully made Pumpkin Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse and Vanilla Pudding with Swerve. It leaves a weird sweet feeling in your mouth - you especially notice after drinking water, but tastes very similar to sugar. I don't mind it. I like having a little sweet vibe and this helps. It's not perfect, but certainly a decent option. The sugar alcohols tend to upset my stomach if I overdo it, but otherwise it's fine. Didn't go five stars because it's not perfect, but it's the best thing that I've tried thus far. The price is high also, but I don't eat a ton of it, so it's ok. I tend to adapt recipes with less sweetener simply because my tastes have adapted that way. But it taste is very good. September 23, 2017 I only give this 4 stars because it is on the pricey side for the amount received. But it taste is very good. Won't dissolve August 31, 2017 Good as a sweetener, but it won't dissolve in my coffee! I even put it in a glass of water and microwaved it, but still remains cloudy and settles to the bottom. Pleasantly surprised August 17, 2017 It was hard for me to get past the old rule I tried to follow, "don't eat anything with ingredients you can't pronounce." But from all the info I can find, including what a doctor I trust has said about it, this does seem to be made with healthy ingredients. It certainly does replace sugar well so works in some things that my stevia sweetener never did. Good when used to replace 1/2 the sugar -- But definitely not as a total sugar replacement. May 12, 2016 I do like this product, however, I cannot use it as a total replacement to sugar. It has a very odd cooling effect on the food that I absolutely cannot tolerate. I have successfully used it to replace half the sugar, and cannot tell the difference. I do not experience the cooling effect when mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with real sugar. I will continue to use it because, while I would like to eliminate sugar, I have not found anything yet to completely do that. But this at least allows me to cut back on the amount of sugar I use without noticing a difference in taste. |
Three Star Reviews: | 21% Nasty long-lasting aftertaste June 8, 2017 I could only give it three stars due to the nasty aftertaste that I am assuming is the stevia. I don't usually have a problem with stevia as I use it in my tea and coffee, but it is overwhelmingly strong in this stuff. The aftertaste lasts a long time and is pretty bad. I won't purchase again for this reason alone. Three Stars August 17, 2016 Don't the love the taste of this product. It's ok if you mix fruit in with it. | 9% Meh.......and very pricey! June 5, 2017 I gave it a try. Odd taste that lingers in mouth. Ultimately, its too expensive to buy regularly. Good, but pricey and less sweet than sugar. October 2, 2016 Definitely NOT as sweet as sugar, though it does have the same flavor and texture as granulated sugar. Dissolves a bit slower and has a slightly cooling effect on the tongue. My biggest issues with it are the price, and the volume needed to achieve a certain sweetness level. Suitable for making beverages, great for use in home-made salad dressing, barbecue sauce, etc, but to get equal sweetness to sugar you need to increase the amount used to the point where it may affect the recipe. Not for me September 16, 2016 This sweetener is okay but not great. I do like that it doesn't have the funky taste as artificial sweeteners and that it isn't so overpoweringly sweet. The thing I don't like it that it is harder to mix in, even with hot tea I find it sitting on the bottom like sand. It says it is dissolves better in hot drinks than cold but I never tried it with cold. I only wanted to use it in hot tea and coffee. Even though I stir it well when it is hot I always have to dump out the last bit because it is full of the undissolved powder. I don't plan on buying it again. Not Terrible August 24, 2016 There are things I like ok about Swerve and things I'm not as fond of. I don't mind the taste initially and in some things I've put it in, I've not noticed much of a bad after taste. However, in some things I notice not just an aftertaste, but a weird feeling in my lungs. I found that when I open the bag, scoop some out, and place in it whatever I'm using it in, there is a fine cloud of dust that invades my lungs. I have to hold my breath when I have the bag open. There are things (like iced tea) that it was too sweet for, but some other baked goods weren't too sweet for me. I guess it's really up to personal taste. I would say it's worth a try but beware of breathing it in. I also suspect that I may be one of the people it causes some GI distress as I have noticed a great deal of bloating when I use it. I don't think it tastes or remotely feels like regular sugar but I didn't dislike it enough to not use again on occasion while I try some other options. Works okay, not as sweet as sugar August 12, 2016 I find in baking that this does not sweeten as strongly as sugar. I have tried it in cheesecake and also in oatmeal cookies, and both times the desserts were not nearly as sweet as they would have been with regular sugar. Probably will not buy it again. Good product but expensive January 19, 2014 I have been playing around with Swerve for different purposes. In terms of sweetness, I get different results depending on what I do with it. To sweeten coffee, tea, etc it seems to be about the same as regular sugar IF you like your drinks slightly sweetened. If you like things pretty sweet, you may experience that licorice like taste or cooling minty like effect that some people describe.I attempted to make brownies with Swerve and using the same amount as sugar made them come out WAY too sweet. The sweetness overwhelmed the chocolate. They were so bad that I tossed them. This is not purely scientific because the next thing I did was go to a different recipe that has more chocolate in it. I then added HALF the Swerve. It came out great! So, that's one recipe I can use that is low sugar! Next week, I attempted to make my cardamom coffee cake. I used half the Swerve. It tasted great, but the texture came out dry. I think I didn't notice this in the brownies because they tend to be gooey anyway and if they came out dryer, it wasn't that noticeable. Anyway, I looked it up and Erythritol (Swerve's main ingredient) sucks moisture out of baked goods. So, I made the coffee cake again and added 1/4 c water to the recipe. The coffee cake came out great! It was about the right sweetness and the texture was soft and moist. So that's another one of my favorite recipes I can use.I have discovered that this new sweetener requires that I experiment with it a bit and figure out how it works. So far, what I have figured out is:-swerve is about the same as sugar to sweeten coffee and tea-swerve can be too sweet when used in baked goods. It is also hygroscopic and makes cakes drier. My solution is to cut back how much sweetener I use and add more liquid. To be honest, I think it is too expensive for what it does. I don't intend to purchase more. So, that's the end of my experiments with Swerve! I am going to buy Erythritol instead. |
Two Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 7% Arrived sticky. October 27, 2017 Arrived alllllll sticky with caked on sugar particles. The back was intact though. Gross. Something in this condition shouldn't be shipped. I'll be using my Stevia instead September 21, 2017 This was my first time buying this and I bought it because a recipe specifically called it out. It's SUPER duper with a strong "cooling" aftertaste. I will not be buying it again. I will continue using my Stevia. Not for me. June 7, 2017 Wow, way too sweet and too difficult to get used to. Ended up throwing it out. Don't care for it :( December 17, 2015 I wanted to, but I didn't really like it. I currently consume Stevia, which I love, but wanted to expand my options and try Swerve. The texture was grainy, I had to add a lot of it into my drinks to make it taste just slightly sweet, and it gave my green tea a white cloudy hue. Ehh... April 12, 2014 This just isn't what I expected. A lot of low-carb bloggers have this in their recipes for sweets, so I decided to try it. It has a really weird after taste that is attributable to the "cooling" effect it has. It doesn't dissolve well either. Also, I think it was giving me a headache when used in larger quantities in baked goods. I also think the price is way too high. It wasn't terrible, but only when used in smaller quantities. Very sweet but lots of residual taste March 17, 2014 Swerve sweetener did sweeten, which is its main job, but there's more to a sweetener than that. I found that it coated my mouth and irritated my throat. My better half had the same reaction to it. It wasn't just an "aftertaste" in the usual sense. Rather, it left a coating in my mouth. When I had a drink of water after we ate our dessert, I again got a blast of sweetener, and I kept tasting it for a good hour. That may sound nice with a sweetener, but believe me, it's not! With its taste continuing in my mouth for such a long time, it would up irritating my throat. Not something I'd want to repeat! |
One Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 11% Weird aftertaste July 6, 2016 I was really hoping I'd like this product, but it just wasn't good. It has a really weird aftertaste which made the products I made with it inedible. Cooling aftertaste May 5, 2016 Not sure if I just got a bad batch or something but mine had a horrible cooling aftertaste in anything I make. One Star May 4, 2016 Makes everything taste like chemicals and it made my tongue feel weird. Won't buy again. This sounded really great.. July 14, 2015 Deciding to eat Paleo style, I have been searching for substitutions for things it does not allow. This sounded really great...IT WAS NOT. Holy cow, it was absolutely terrible and left the MOST gosh-awful aftertaste. Do not purchase as a viable substitute for granulated sugar! |
