Five Star Reviews: | 50% | 61% Best sweetener ever! July 15, 2016 I love this sweetener. The quality is consistantly good and there aren't any additives that leave an after taste. This is the only sweetener that I have found that I can tolerate without digestion issues and doesn't have any weird tastes or after tastes. Plus it's natural, so it doesn't have the potential issues that the chemical sweeteners may have. And, of course, it has low or no carbs, depending on who you talk to. It is a bit less sweet than sugar, but I've gotten used to less sweet flavor and like it, so I typically use the same amount or less than what a recipe might call for in regular sugar. Non-GMO sweetener that actually SWEETENS. May 9, 2015 I typically purchase the Trim Healthy Mama Sweetblend and stick with solely that, but I wanted to branch out a bit and decided I'd give this a try. #OhmylordandTaylor it is INCREDIBLE. I still love my THM SB, but this has become a favorite for coffees and immediate satisfaction. Thank you for being Non-GMO Project Verified! I LOVE that I'm not eating GMO corn erythritol! No roundahemup in my coffee, thank you! :D*note: If you're wanting a non-gmo and natural sweetener that doesn't taste like poison, this is awesome. No aftertaste!* Less Bad Taste March 11, 2014 This is Erythritol. Erytherol is a zero calorie sweetener that is generally liked by health professionals to not cause problems with your health. It has no artificial taste but is less sweet than sugar, so double it.I like to use it in baking recipes and in my coffee or tea.The reusable zip-lock pouch is handy to use and closes tight.Recommended Excellent Sugar Substitute March 3, 2014 I really like working with this sweetener. Not only does it look like granulated sugar, it acts like it in recipes, providing a sweet taste with zero calories. Measuring is easy: Just use a standard measuring spoon or cup. I make coconut/almond flour cookies with Zero, and they turn out great. Now it's claimed that Zero provides only 70% of the sweetness of sugar. Personally, I find that the product is quite sweet and I've never had to add extra to a recipe. I'd recommend a bit of experimentation if this is a concern to you. I also like that the product comes in a thick, resealable bag for convenient storage.Note: Many people choose this product because, unlike some sugar alcohols, erythritol is less likely to cause GI upset. I've not had any problems with the product, but I'd advise staying close to home the first time you try it, just to be safe. I have heard that this product can cause upset in some very sensitive people. No side effects June 30, 2013 I can't digest the sugar alcohols used in "sugar free" candies and cookies. But erythritol is different. It is sweet like sugar and digests easily. I mostly use it in baking, but sometimes in beverages, too. Look for 100% Erythritol December 15, 2012 I've been using the wholesome Sweetners brand for years. I tried the Now brans for the first time because I found it cheaper.I think they are comparable.Beware: These are much better that the Nectreese sweetner crap - which is deceptively labeled and has a nasty after taste. They say made from Monk fruit. Wow! and you read later that they have added a few grains of the monk fruit extract. It also contains sugar and mollasses? It's like something form a chemical factory! What do you expect from the makers of Splenda, I am not going to return mine because it's not worth the hassle. But I will never buy Nectresse sweetner again. Instead I will stick to Now or Wholesome Sweetners 100% erythritolwhich has zero after tastezero calories and zero glycemic indexlooks like sugarIs a natural product it is not bad for you except - If you have more than 20 teaspoons a day it will act as a laxative, So make sure those days you stay close to the throne.I use it in my hot tea and it dissolves quickly. One thing you need to add a lot. it is not super concentrated. So if you would normally add 1.5 teaspoons of regualar sugar then I would add 2 teaspoons of this stuff. |
Four Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 16% Pretty OKish. Little after taste if you use it ... March 1, 2017 Pretty OKish . Little after taste if you use it in hot tea or coffee and try and drink it after it is cooled off . If you can reheat it , your all set . 4 grams of sugar per tsp? April 5, 2016 Just got mine and noticed for one tsp its 4grms of carbs? Don't like that being a type 1. do not want to bolus for each cup of coffee. Not sure Ill use it now. Taste is great! Just like sugar. Good Sweetener April 2, 2016 I have been using this product on and off for a long time. I use it on my coffee. I don't use much and because of it there is no aftertaste. If I add too much to my coffee I will get an aftertaste. Some years ago Wholesome Sweeteners used to show the organic logo, but now they don't. I would prefer the organic logo. This is good stuff here July 15, 2015 This is good stuff here. However, no matter how great it is, the price is just too high. Due to the sweetness only being about 70% compared to table sugar, you pretty much need twice the amount of scoops to satisfy your sweet tooth. This just runs out so fast, it's not even funny. So I came to a decision to use it as a vanilla extract kind of thing. I'll be adding vanilla beans in it and then just use the sweetener as if it were vanilla sweetener, and stevia extract as the real sweetener instead. I haven't tried this yet but I'm sure it would work. It definitely tastes less artificial than a lot of sweeteners ... April 5, 2015 It definitely tastes less artificial than a lot of sweeteners, but it's expensive for the quantity you get. I got it to make a specific recipe, and my coffee cake did come out delicious, but I don't think it will be my go-to sweetener in the future. Tastes good, but too expensive April 22, 2014 This is a great sweetener, but it's less sweet than sugar, so you have to use more and this is quite a small package. As a result, I only use it rarely to make it last. If it wasn't so expensive, I would give it 5 stars. As far as taste, it's the best tasting sweetener other than sugar itself. |
Three Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 6% It's just not sweet enough for me August 17, 2015 It's just not sweet enough for me. It takes so much of it to achieve the level of sweetness I desire. However, if you like things less sweet, this may be just what you are looking for. Not impressed. April 18, 2015 I have been on the search for a sugar substitute that is natural. Tried Stevia. No Go. Tried this and I have decided that in my coffee it just doesn't make a difference. Might as well not use anything. Cheaper. Wholesome Sweeteners Zero May 27, 2014 The taste is great, but I had to use much more than I woulld have liked to get sugary sweetness. Not Sweet April 23, 2013 I've been experimenting with making paleo cookie recipes using this and several other sweeteners. This one is okay, but not sweet when used alone. I have to combine the Zero sweetener with a little stevia or honey to get a desirable result. I gave it three stars because it looks beautiful, like little ice crystals and it doesn't upset my stomach like xylitol does. |
Two Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 6% I would pass on this one. August 19, 2016 I have tried a variety of Erythritol types, and honestly was not impressed with this one. Its not bad per se but I prefer the Now brand one. This one I felt made my stomach ache and had GI issues almost every time I used it while the other ones I did not notice the same reaction to. No thanks September 18, 2015 I am used to using stevia. This product takes two to three times as much to sweeten food. It takes quite a bit of shaking to get the sweetener to dissolve in cold water. There are still undissolved particles after rigorous shaking. I'll go back to my old sweetener. Good but not so sweet August 4, 2015 It does taste very good however you have to use A LOT more then the label suggests to get any sweetness. It's a very weak sweetness. I ended up requesting a refund. It was useless when I baked. I couldn't seem to add enough to make it sweet. It also does not dissolve. I tried to make a mousse with it and the mousse ended up being crunchy from the crystals that didn't dissolve. I used 2 TBSP in my 6 oz. cup of tea and the tea tasted like it had no sweetener at all. Basically it has Zero calories and Zero taste. Disappointed. March 4, 2015 Just my opinion, but I did not like the taste of it. You may like it just fine. no sweetness March 19, 2014 I was hoping for a sweetener that was better than the chemical sweeteners in taste and better for you that sugar. I cannot taste this at all and it doesn't add any sweetening to my tea. Using this product is the same as not adding sugar. |
One Star Reviews: | 50% This advertising picture is deceiving. The box is about ... February 5, 2016 This advertising picture is deceiving. The box is about the size of a deck of cards. There is about one teaspoon of sweetener in the whole box. It also tastes bitter and unpleasant. | 11% This does NOT sweeten! August 6, 2015 This does NOT sweeten! All it dors is add a cooling sensatiob, akin to mint. Has an Odd Taste to Me March 19, 2015 I had such high hopes for finding a natural, calorie-free sweetener. Unfortunately for me it has an odd mint-but-not-mint flavor to it that overpowers the flavor of the food I'm sweetening. I'll stick with my go-to sweetener of 10 years: SweetzFree. Not sweet - so disappointed. March 4, 2014 I had been hoping this would be a true stevia/sugar replacement but to no avail. I added 2 for 1 as a sugar replacement and it was not even barely sweet. In fact, it gave off a "cooling sensation" that others describe in reviews, which was unpleasant in a gluten-free apple tart. Overall, I like inulin/chicory replacement much better than this sweetener. So disappointed. Was really hoping for another great replacement but no go. |
