The Dog Needs to Chew
March 22, 2017
If you have a dog that loves to chew everything under four feet from the ground then this is the product that your dog will chew for hours and never rip up. I purchased 2 of these as someone thought their dog could use one and ended up taking mine. Ordered another one and my dog was right back on it. You can put peanut butter on the inside and your dog will stay busy for a while. It has been a few months now since I purchased this, but it still is good as new. Can be used as a toy or for training your dog. We used them for a reward for the military working dogs.
Its a hit!
March 13, 2017
I have been eyeing this toy for awhile and after a very unsuccessful string of toys my Great Pyrenees cares absolutely nothing about I decided the Kong would be my last attempt. He loves it! He also has issues with separation anxiety and this toy full of food and treats seems to have helped. Not cured but helped. I'm very pleased with this product

I got this for my in laws dog. He is a mini sheltie and is always up in everyones business and can never seem to chill. He also destroys all of his toys. I showed my mother in law how to put peanut butter inside this and when we gave this to him he was quiet as can be as he licked the peanut butter out. He also loves playing fetch with this as it bounces all over.My mother in law said this was the best thing ever as it is the only way to calm him down when people are over.
Scooter Loves It
November 3, 2016
The dog loves it, even without any filling. He likes the way it bounces unpredictably and it's his favorite "pay Fetch" toy. He'll even take it onto our bed and drop it himself and go chase it, essentially playing fetch with himself! We have a ramp onto the bed for him, and sometimes he rolls it down the ramp, and sometimes he just drops it off the bed. Many hours of play for him and giggles for us as we watch him. This is our second Kong. We lost the first one and panicked. We found it months later, when rotating mattress and box spring, jammed in the crook of the headboard, a result of one of the dog's drop it games, no doubt!
Another awesome sized KONG from KONG.
September 23, 2016
Another great toy from KONG. This one is perfect for my 10# little malty poo as well as my 5.0# poodle when he had his teeth however this toy is slightly too big for him as he no longer has any teeth or so few that we don't count them any longer. All the dogs love peanut butter or doggie cheese spread in the kongs as a treat. In the summer (it's hot here) we put peanut butter over the small hold on the top of the KONG and then add plain green yogurt, a few blueberries or watermelon, or raspberries, or some other fruit (bananas), then more yogurt, a spoonful of peanut butter and a small cookie in the large hole. I then put them all in the freezer and give it as a treat in the hot days of summer or when the humidity rises and the air doesn't work well.
Amazing toys for multiple reasons
March 27, 2016
We love our Kong Toys! This one is tiny and totally adorable. Perfect for a very small dog. The dog who enjoys this little thing is a Chihuahua. It is seriously very very small. This dog has tiny sharp teeth but was never able to chew the toy to bits like she did with others we gave her.We filled it with the small treats, I will admit, it was rather hard to get them in there, but it was as equally difficult for her to get them out which in turn kept her fairly entertained for long periods of time. It also helped curb some poor behavior due to separation anxiety, so that was a bonus! She barks less, chews less on inappropriate things, and she doesn’t get so anxious when we leave the house anymore. Great buy. We always recommend KONG toys for anyone who has a dog.

Great product, very durable
June 23, 2017
this is one toy my dog hasn't had the urge to tear open and de-stuff! he loves to play fetch with it and if it happens to accidentally hit someone or something in the back yard as we are playing fetch it's soft enough to where it won't hurt anyone! Great product, very durable. My German Shepherd is also known for de-stuffing any plush toy he gets....this one has lasted the longest!
Good Job KONG - Finally a strong stuffed toy
May 31, 2017
I have a VERY aggressive chewer. The puppy tries to pull apart the seams and remove the stuffing. NO Stuffed toy has ever survived more than a day. Not even the ones that say they are made for aggressive chewers ...This has lasted 10 days, so far. He loves it, and he has tried a couple of times to pick at it, but hasn't even torn it yet.

March 10, 2017
We have two small wiener dogs and one miniature horse (ok, he's a lab, but might as well be a mini horse!) The lab LOVES to play but shreds the toys so quickly because he plays a little rough (thanks to my husband). While these toys were eventually destroyed, they lasted longer than anything we ever had before! They dogs loved them and we loved that they lasted a while and didn't just waste our money :)
My Pup's Favorite!
August 5, 2016
His favorite toy!!Our 8 wk old 8 lb border collie mix LOVES this toy..he has a thing for sticks so he really adores these.. (I have 2 for him)Teething is tough and this definitely makes it more tolerable for him.Would love to play with this with him, but right now he is enjoying it so much on his own.I have checked for damages etc, and so far it is handling his little needle like teeth.
Dog Loved it
November 30, 2015
I bought this as a small add on while purchasing a few other products. The price also seemed great for a Kong product. This "stix" is a great size for my 60 lb Pitbull terrier mix and is made of a canvas like material. I liked that it was soft but was still sturdy. While I was pulling the "stix" out of the packaging my dog was immediately interested and wanted to play with it. I played a little fetch before giving it over to her, but within 10 minutes she had punctured the surface and was pulling out the stuffing. To be fair to this product I gave it a 5 star because my dog tears through anything and everything. I think that for any other dog type than a pit this would last must longer and be a great toy. Even though it did not last very long I still thought that it was a great buy because my dog loved it and the price was great. I would definitely recommend this product.
Wonderful fetch toy/easy to throw
November 17, 2015
Great fetch toy! Easy to throw and my pup loves going after it. I also like the shape of the item that makes it easy for my dog to pick up. The large size is perfect for a medium to large breed dog. Our dog is about 60lbs and it is proportional to his size. As the label reads, this is not a chew toy. If your dog is a big chewer, you may have to put this toy up and only use it for fetch as it is intended.

Dog chewed off top 'knob' within a week... sticking to black Kong for our extreme chewer!
September 24, 2017
I LOVE Kong products but maybe this one wasn't for our extreme chewer. I give it 4 stars because I personally believe I should have stuck with the black extreme Kong which has so far latest 2 months without being chewed apart (user error). I am writing this review so that those with dogs who are extreme chewers know that this product will likely not last. Like I said, I would suggest you get the black one... It's hole unfortunately it too big for the 'large' Kong treats unless you stuff 2 in at once but that's a bit too much treat for one sitting in my opinion... Oh well our dog loves to chew it and that's all that matters.
Great for fetch or putting toys/treats inside - not so great for chewing.
September 12, 2017
4 stars only because my dogs will ONLY play with this toy if it is filled with treats or I use it playing fetch. And, oddly enough, both of my dogs love to chew. The hole is large enough (or small enough) to break apart some treats that JUST fit inside causing the dog to play with it rolling it around until the treats fall out, which depending on your treat snapping ability can take a dog 5 minutes to solve the puzzle, or 30-45 minutes. Very much an experimentation project. But as mentioned above, my dogs (Siberian Husky and Australian Shepherd) see no reason to play with this unless it is filled with treats or I'm throwing it for them to run and get. The odd bounce it has is a plus as it keeps the dogs a little fooled trying to snatch it. And you might think that the reason they don't play with is without treats is because they're smart enough to think "what's the point without treats?" Well, I tried for about 2 weeks to get them to chew and play with it out of the package with no such luck. So now, I just use it to keep them busy pushing it around with their noses. Oh and the durability? Top Notch. But I don't own a gigantic breed and I've heard some stories from friends about their dogs actually blasting right through Kong Products.
she's not a power-jaw chewer like my last dog
September 7, 2017
As described and expected. Keeps her occupied, but really only for about 60 minutes before she's gotten everything out. I make my own Kongs with peanut butter, treats, carrots, pumpkin purée and peas; then freeze it so it lasts longer. Kong spray goop stuff would only last five minutes MAX for my dog.I bought the medium size for my 30lb mutt and it's the right size for her. She's a super/heavy chewer and has not been able to damage the red Kong. However, she's not a power-jaw chewer like my last dog, who needed the black Kong.
Great toy, but check the size!
November 29, 2016
I volunteer at the local animal shelter and we use these to keep the animals entertained. We stuff them with dry food, cover with peanut butter and freeze. They work really well and most dogs like them a lot. I also ordered one for my dog. The large one is not too large, but fair for a medium sized dog. I am glad I went to the store first to double check the size otherwise I would have ordered the medium but it would have been too small.
Holds up well
January 2, 2016
My dog loves this as long as there is a goody inside! I use peanut butter, canned dog food, cheese, etc. It's the perfect size for a chiweenie. I mostly use it (along with some other toys) for when we have to leave her in the enclosed porch when we go someplace. It helps keep her busy and not so lonely. It's kind of a pain to clean, but I started using a very small bottle brush and it pretty much does the trick. This one is very small but they make bigger ones for bigger dogs. I imagine they would be a lot easier to clean. I am happy with it and so is my dog.
Not too bad!
December 10, 2015
I have a 5lb Morkie who is 4.5 months old, chews everything and does seem to like this - but only if there is a treat inside of it that he can get after. The first time I gave it to him he played with it for 30 minutes or more. I bought the Kong ziggies to go inside of it and he likes them but once he chews it down the treat becomes stuck inside of the KONG. I have to find a tool of some sort to push it through the bigger end and then he'll start playing with it again until he chews more off, so I have to keep doing this until the treat is almost out. It does seem to hold his interest for a bit so I do like it. He just loses interest once the treat is stuck inside.

Now I Know What Brand To Go With
October 11, 2017
I got this for our huge husky that manages to destroy every single toy we give him within the hour. I figured this one would be done for shortly as well, but we're on day 2 and he hasn't managed to demolish it yet! I have heard great things about the KONG brand of toys for pets but had never actually purchased any of them before (again, mainly due to doubts of durability). After this purchase it's safe to say I know what brand to stick with. The only reason I took a star away is because I feel like this could have a squeaky toy, or crinkle noise, or something added in it to make it more fun.
Great, tough toy for the price
August 29, 2017
Great, tough toy for the price. Doesn't keep my dog entertained for way too long, but it's nice knowing I won't find stuffing all over my floor!
She doesn't like as much as some of her other toys
August 2, 2017
My dog has only been able to pierce one small hole so far - although she doesn't play with it too much. She doesn't like as much as some of her other toys.
Not for aggressive chewers
March 29, 2017
Our pug loves it, we don't let our other dog thats a pit bull play with it. because it will be destroyed. Not a toy for aggressive chewers.Awesome for the little dogs.
but he also LOVED it as a fetch toy
February 10, 2016
Our little power chewer killed this within a month, even with supervision, but he also LOVED it as a fetch toy. He can destroy any toy that isn't solid rubber, so at this price point, if it made him this happy I'm not mad. We bought this because our friends' dog has one and loves it (and it has lasted over six months for them)- still highly recommend.
It's a great product, but not for heavy chewers
October 16, 2015
The only problem with this toy is that if your dog is a chewer, they rip the seams apart and get the stuffing out. Then you have stuffing all over your house. It's a great product, but not for heavy chewers. We bought the small "stick" and it was destroyed in a few days. I bought this larger one hoping it would take a little longer, we will have to see. Otherwise, it's a great product for learning to fetch. Kong is a great brand for durable toys.

Our Saint Bernard puppy and Lab are ONLY interested in this Kong when there is peanut butter in it. Once they lick it out, they both walk away. I guess I thought they would spend more time chewing on it. It's a great quality and others we've had have lasted many years but neither our Lab or Saint care much for them. Also, our Saint is a HUGE chewer and hasn't been able to destroy these.

Meh
May 6, 2017
I put peanut butter in the Kong. Freeze it and give it to my Havanese pup. He is somewhat interested in it. He would lick the edges clean. But, he has no interest in getting the rest of them. So I ended up cleaning them out by soaking it for a while. I just don't see how could he get all of it out if I stuff it all the way with their bottle stuffer?
Good price but reccomend using with Kong specific treats
March 2, 2016
My baby loves her Kong! I bought it here because it was more inexpensive than the local pet stores. At first I was at a lost because it was an odd shape and all the treats I had either made it impossible for her to get them and therefore she would give up quickly or made it super simple to reach the treats. After buying Kong specific treats I saw the true benefits on a Kong. Only thing is that Kong treats are pretty expensive. I tried doing the peanut butter thing that I read about but my puppy wasn't really crazy about it and it made a huge mess. I think it's great with the Kong specific treats but that's it.
Good play toy for dogs but...
February 7, 2013
This is a good play toy for dogs. I toss it across the room and he chases it or he tosses it himself and chases it. However, my dog is a strong chewer and kept biting off huge chunks. So I threw it away and bought the black one which is supposed to be harder. We had bought a red one at a store when we first got our dog (jack Russell/beagle mix) at eight months old and he did well with it, but lost it. That was the reason for the purchase here at amazon. So if your dog is a strong chewer order the black one.Update....I received the black one the other day and he had a big chunk chewed out of it also within a matter of minutes. We still use it to toss and bounce for him to fetch but he is still able to chew it up. We'll see how long it lasts. I called a vet to see what else is available for strong chewers and besides the Kong and the Nylin bones she couldn't suggest anything else.
Two weeks later and nothing
November 2, 2011
I'm sure this is a great product, however, it's been two weeks and my dogs haven't chewed on it or played with it. There was even a treat smothered with peanut butter stuck inside. One of my dogs just licked all the peanut butter out, left the treat inside, and neither dog has touched it since. It sits there all alone and unused. My dogs seem to prefer rawhides over anything else. I bought it to see if they would like something different but I guess I was wrong. It does have a weird, chemical, gas kind of smell to it so maybe that's one reason they don't care for it? Guess I'll stick to rawhides and other chew toys. I really hoped they would like it. Oh well!UPDATE: 11/03/2013 Eventually one of my dogs started chewing on it on a regular basis. Now, it's torn into two pieces because of him! I still have it laying around somewhere. He doesn't really chew on it now but he enjoyed it for a little while.

Sneaky Chewers
April 23, 2017
My 60lb. pitbull was able to tear into it within a few minutes he was unsupervised. So now I limit his play time with the toy, allowing for it to last a bit longer.Shipping was fast and on time. Product was as described. Good product, just as long as you keep an eye on your bud while they're playing with it, especially if you have sneaky chewers.
Nice but not strong
April 22, 2017
My dog loved this toy, however it didn't last very long before it was ripped to shreds. He liked it so much I'd still buy it again, however with the expectation of a short life. I got the brown color. I was hoping for the camo.

March 27, 2017
I don't recommend for labs that chew up toys. Within 10 minutes they had holds all through it. Had to throw it away the same day they got it.
Not what I thought
March 15, 2017
I thought being Kong brand it would last. It lasted all of 30 minutes before being ripped open and stuffing removed. We still have some toy left, but not what I was looking for.

September 29, 2016
Assumed the name Kong meant this would be somewhat durable like the Kong treat chews that my adult Doberman has not destroyed. However, a new six month old puppy was able to rip this apart and start eating the cotton-like stuffing inside within a few minutes of taking this out of the package. Glad I got it for a cheap add-on price, definitely would not buy again. Might be just fine for dogs who are gentle with their toys or smaller or older dogs who aren't miniature dinosaurs.
Destroyed in one day
January 25, 2013
I have a feisty Boston Terrier that is a medium biter. While supervised, he ripped a hole on one side of the toy. We sowed it back and he opened the other side within an hour. I've come to expect better from Kong and hope this is not a repeated problem. I gave it three stars because my dog seemed to enjoy it well enough but the durability problem is significant.

I guess this makes sense if you plan on paying a premium for all of the Kong branded treats / accessories but if you just want a distraction to put some peanut butter in for your pup look elsewhere for a better deal and fit
August 11, 2017
Kind of pricey for a piece of rubber, I also though that getting the Large would mean a larger hole at the base so bigger dogs could get their tongue in there - no such luck as no matter what the size of the product the hole diameter appears the same. I guess this makes sense if you plan on paying a premium for all of the Kong branded treats / accessories but if you just want a distraction to put some peanut butter in for your pup look elsewhere for a better deal and fit.
flawed batch? inferior quality compared to before.
April 21, 2017
I have ordered this same product from the same seller (Amazon LLC) before, but this time the item appears to be of inferior quality compared to the previous kong purchases. It lasted 1 day with the same dog compared to the same red kong from last year's order that has held up just fine. Something must have changed with the quality or composition of the product.

Too small for boxer jowls...
February 18, 2017
My boxer doesn't like her kong. I bought a large based on the recommendation, the hole is far too small for her large jowls and tongue and she is not interested in this. She also doesn't care for balls, but I had hoped this would be different... I am hesitant to try the larger size. She prefers her $1 squeaky bone from wal-mart and stuffed animals.
There is a smaller size available and maybe that would have been better, but I'm not about to find out
January 16, 2016
This size toy was too big for my puppy. She doesn't play with it. I was able to put peanut butter inside and it entertained her for a short while but then cleaning the inside was a pain. There is a smaller size available and maybe that would have been better, but I'm not about to find out.
Be careful to order the right size - the "large" isn't big enough for a puppy!
November 14, 2014
First, my dogs have always loved KONG products. They are well made and last a long time (one original KONG we have is now being enjoyed by our third generation dog. The problem I have is with their new sizing. You would think that the sizing would loosely match the size of the dog. Large dogs would get a large KONG, right? Wrong.I purchased a large, and what I got was correctly labeled large, but it seems that KONG has gone the route of candy bar makers and reduced their actual sizes. This "large" is barely big enough for our 5-month old puppy. It's too small for our adult lab, and less than 1/2 the size of the original KONG we bought years ago. Labeling this product as "large" is deceiving. It's more like a small or medium. I can't imagine the size of the dog that would be right for an X-small - probably the size of a mouse!Bottom line, get a KONG for your dog, but don't rely on their sizing. Check the dimensions and order accordingly.

Not up to the KONG standard
October 6, 2017
I bought two of these for two different dogs. The large dog had it for 3 days before tearing it open, he enjoyed playing tug with it, but we had to take it away after he got a hole in it so he wouldn't eat the stuffing. The smaller dog had a hole in it in literally 1.5 minutes, I timed her. I also had to take it from her so she wouldn't eat the stuffing. This toy is very cheap, it was probably worth purchasing for the big dog, but I threw away that money on giving one to the smaller dog. I gave 2 stars for the tug of war the one dog was able to enjoy.

So much for an endless game of tug and fetch! This toy lasted one night! My dog had the stuffing out and was about to swallow it, thank god I noticed, I normally don't have to watch for that yet when the toy is brand new! I would not recommend this toy, especially if your dog is a chewer. Kong should discontinue this since they are suppose to be known to have indestructible toys.

August 22, 2016
Had this for 5 minutes before a dog tore a hole in it at the seam. It's not made of a material that I'm thrilled with either.I have to redo the seam and see how long it lasts on the second go.
Iffy Durability
June 22, 2016
Unfortunately, this is our dogs' favorite toy. I say unfortunately because the durability is poor at best. The first one lasted two weeks before I had to duct tape it together, the second lasted a month and the third ten minutes. Thankfully, duct tape keeps them going for awhile. I really hope Kong ups their game on these - all of the the other Kong products I've purchased have lasted incredibly well. And, like I said, our dogs love them. . .and yes, I've sent off for yet another. I think this will be the last, though, if it doesn't last better.
Wanted to love this, but it didn't last a day
July 19, 2015
If my dogs were rating this, they'd give it 5 stars! My lab and boxer (both a year old) thoroughly enjoyed destroying this. I love Kong toys and wanted to love this one, too. But they ripped it in the first day. We just can't do anything with a seam.

KONG CLASSIC SMALL Rubber Chew Toy For Dogs -... Our dog isn't interested in it. He prefers his other toys. bought the snacks for it. There is just about no way you could get real peanut butter out of it an that's what I think would get our dog's attention.
Useless
June 26, 2017
Useless. I used it once and never again because there's really nothing to fit that hole in a manner that the food won't come out right away or get stuck inside which is what happened. Either way, the snack will come out too easily (with just a flip) or not come out at all.

How Small is the X-Small? The Size of a THIMBLE???
January 29, 2015
I have seen Kongs around for years so in anticipation of my puppy, I ordered a medium. I absolutely couldn't believe how SMALL it was!! Like 3"!!! It is a total rip-off to pay $10 for a small piece of rubber like this. I can't imagine ANY dog being able to use an x-small except for maybe a Chihuahua! VERY disappointed!

Our dogs played with this for about 30 minutes and haven't touched it since, about 6 months. The like the treats but won't play with the toy even with the snacks inside. I even tried peanut butter and other things they love. They just don't like them. I have 3 yorkies (3 sizes), lab and labradane. None like them.

Worst kong product ever made
September 5, 2017
I live by kong products, but I've purchased 2 of these and my dogs ripped them into a cotton snow storm in less than 3 minutes each time. I've never had anything negative to say about this amazing company, but these are not at all up to their normal standard of quality. Buy one of their many other amazing products instead of this. The rope stuffed animals are a great option instead of this item. They destroy those as well, but it takes much longer.
If your dog chews at all, don't bother!
May 18, 2017
8 minutes is all it lasted - our little dog had all the stuffing out of it and the "durable fabric" shredded. We've had cheap stuffed animals which were not intended to be chew toys last longer! Even for the less than $5.00 add-on price, it's too much. Kong, you've let us down.
NOT FOR CHEWERS
October 30, 2016
I was honesty expecting a better, more durable toy from the KONG brand. Within only A COUPLE MINUTES of having this toy, my 6 month old (20lbs) puppy had ripped open one of the ends and was shredding stuffing out of it. After less than 2 hours with the toy, she has opened it from 5 different ends.. each time requiring me to take it from her and dig out more stuffing. Also, "minimal stuffing?" Maybe compared to a giant stuffed teddy bear. This is the most stuffing I've seen come out of one of my puppy's toys. This toy is only good for a dog that either A) is not a strong chewer, or B) is only interested in a game of fetch. We'll be sticking to the hard rubber toys.
Dont do it if your dog is obsessed with what is inside!
September 18, 2015
My dog is at the vet right now being treated for dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. I gave him the stick, it was over stuffed and he ate part of the stuffing which expanded in his stomach. He's 7 months old. My heart is broken. I hope they do not have to do surgery... No more stuffed toys.Ironically, this came up when I searched "heavy duty dog toys" it lasted 5 minutes.
Easily Kong's worst product
December 19, 2014
Wow, I expect Kong products to be the most durable, thats why I buy them. This thing is just horrible. Quality is terrible. Seriously, I pulled the stick from the packaging, handed it to my dog, went to the kitchen to take off my coat and backpack, and walked back to begin a game of fetch, only to find she had already been able to put a hole in it. Once theres a hole, its done, because the dog will eat the stuffing if I left it with her. Horrible product and I'm very disappointed.
