When I think of all the time and energy I wasted over the years heating the water in a kettle ...
November 19, 2016
how did I live without this? I just did my kitchen renovation and had this tank installed. My adult daughter and I are avid tea drinkers and having hot water available on demand is a luxury. When I think of all the time and energy I wasted over the years heating the water in a kettle repeatedly throughout the day, I want to cry. This is pricey, but the water is hot and so far, it is functioning very well. I am on well water and I am alittle concerned about how this will hold up over the years. We will see. So far, we are very happy and it has already been worth the money I spent on it.
Great, inexpensive source for on-demand hot water uses regular 120-volt current
November 4, 2016
One of the few on-demand hot water systems that don't require 240-volt electrical supplies. Hook up the water supply, plug into the wall outlet under the sink and you're ready to go. Our last one only lasted three years, however, so we're watching this one carefully. Since they are relatively inexpensive to replace, count on replacing it rather than fixing it if it fails for any reason after the first year. Having hot water on demand for tea and other sink uses is important to us, so we rate this device as five stars.
Check the space under your sink
November 22, 2015
This is a very quiet unit. I love the efficiency of it, so glad I bought it. One thing, the filter didn't fit under my sink so I am using it without. My first unit was mounted higher because the mountings were located higher. My contractor had to install this one lower which meant I would not be able to slide the filter on and off to change it. I didn't really care because I have A Crystal Clear water system installed on our water supply, but had I known I could have saved a few dollars and bought the unit that came without the filter.
One of those small things in life that makes a big difference
June 12, 2015
I purchased a home that had the old version of this. Unfortunately, the old versions were faulty and leaked so after about 4 months at the new house I had to replace the old one (to be fair, it was probably there for at least a few years). But here's the good news. First, it was VERY easy to just swap the old one out and this one in. The only issue I had is that the old line was a bigger hose than this one, but I was able to rig it all up to make it work. Secondly, having this thing at the sink really is one of those small things in life that makes a big difference. It's awesome having perfectly heated water, on-demand for tea and coffee (I use a french press, it's great for that). It's great if you have a baby and need to warm bottles, saves a lot of time heating water on the stove. It's great for cleaning tough-to-clean items, but just be careful because it can get hot enough to burn you! And then finally, it saves on electricity/gas and, perhaps most preciously, your time.Great product, well worth its price. From what I understand they have fixed the old defects in these newer models, I guess I'll find out in another 3-4 years!

February 18, 2015
I bought this to replace my 8 year old tank that developed a leak. Super easy to replace sine the old tank was already installed. Trip to home depot to get a replacement adapter (this version uses a different size hose) and about 20 minutes under the sink and I was done. Not worth paying someone to come out to replace one adapter and 4 screws (two for the tank and two for the filter).
Can't live without it!
June 23, 2014
I drink tea. All day, every day. Maybe I'm an addict, but this device makes my life a little easier. I had one put in my kitchen several years ago when I converted my kitchen to gas. I was a little worried that I might leave a gas burner on, since I usually make tea before I leave for work at 6:30am when things are still a little blurry. The original hot water tank started leaking after 4-5 years (which apparently is typical of the older model) and I replaced it with this one. The new one is much quieter than the old one was. Replacing the old one was "plug and play" although the old water filter is a different size from the new water filter, and the way it was installed under my sink doesn't leave room for the new style of filter, so I just put that aside for now.

Hope this new model is more durable!
October 15, 2016
Replaced my old InSinkErator unit which developed a small leak. This will be my second replacement in 11 years, hope this one will last longer than the other two! BUT, I would not want to be without this! Instant hot tea etc, and even for cooking, water boils faster when you get it from here rather than just from the tap. Knocked off one star because of past reliability issues, but this model is supposed to be improved, we'll see. BTW, I continue to use the older style "fat" filter with this, because I had a couple on hand, and the new skinny one seemed to serve the same function, with similar spec's.
A few little tips...
July 15, 2016
If this tank is a replacement, the installation notes say: "Snap-connect fitting not included. Required when replacing tank manufactured prior to January 2006. Call the AnswerLine to order: 1-800-558-5700". The AnswerLine told me to order Part # 43103C from Carroll Parts, phone 1-800-654-3545. It cost $21.00 -- $9 for the fitting and $12 to ship it. I include the details so you can short-circuit the process and order the fitting when you order the tank. You may also need to get (separately) a bit of 7/8" OD silicone flexible tubing that is rated for high temperatures. One foot is plenty, but I had to order it ... it wasn't available locally in my area. The first tank I got leaked. All the fittings were dry, but after about 4 hours, the bottom of the tank was wet. It is manufactured in two halves that are joined together...and the joint leaked at the bottom. The replacement works fine, and Amazon was easy to deal with. But check the tank a bit after it goes in just to be sure it's not leaking. It's a very slow leak and you might not notice it unless you feel the tank bottom. The exact match for the one I was replacing was almost $600, so I still consider this a good buy. But in all, I'm shelling out for 3 visits from the plumber to get 'er done. One to determine I needed the fitting and hose, one to put in the first tank that leaked, and one to put in the second tank.
T-ADAPTER for water supply not included!
December 29, 2015
I installed this without problems within an hour, but be forewarned, it doesn't come with all necessary hardware. I'd bought this heater and the Insinkerator dispensing faucet. Between the two, I had all the hardware, hoses, and fittings I needed, except the one very important piece: a t-adapter to add another outlet to my water supply line under the sink. Most of the connectors and fittings came with the faucet, as the faucet connects to this tank, while water supply line connects to the faucet (filter hours between water supply line and the faucet, not the tank). A trip to the nearest Lowe's to get this http://m.lowes.com/pd/Plumb-Pak-38-in-Chrome-Compression-Nut/3426030 and I was able to complete the project. Without this, there would have been no water supply. Optionally, a separate shutoff valve for this heater would be nice, but the Lowe's didn't have one at the time. The hoses were enough length, but I did trim one to length. I also had to purchase a bi-metal hole saw since our kitchen sink already had a soap dispenser and dishwasher occupying the built-in accessory holes. Also, Amazon suggested that others who bought this also bought a third party power cord that would have needed to be bored on separately. Not needed! The water heater has a power cord already built in!
Product is fine so far; extended warranty apparently does not exist!
October 2, 2015
Have had the tank installed for about 5 weeks now and is working fine and not leaking. It seems to be similar to the Insinkerator tank it replaced, which lasted about 6 years. Hopefully this one will have a longer shelf-life. Be aware: I bought an extended two year warranty through the Amazon site and received confirmation of the contract several days later. Unfortunately I received notification one month after purchase saying the 2 year warranty was a 'mistake' and it is no longer being offered. (At last check, it is incredibly still being offered on the Amazon website). I am in communication with Amazon to rectify/clarify this unilateral severance of contract. Awaiting a response from Amazon who is checking with the 3rd party provider of the warranty So....if you want an extended warranty for this product (which seems to have a life of 5-7 years, don't buy it from Amazon--at least at this time.
Be ready for a run to the store!
July 22, 2015
Nice that MOST plumbing parts are included in the package; however... the one needed to connect the snap-fit fitting to the water supply is not included. That means a trip to three different stores because they are not common plumbing parts (at least at Home Depot, Lowe's and True Value). Ended up cutting g off the supplied fitting and using a more standard fitting to connect the water supply. Suggestion: include appropriate adapter(s) for the most-common hook-up scenarios. Frustrating to order it for home delivery and have to run right out when it arrives to find a needed part.
Easy update to older system
August 29, 2014
Like others have said, my old unit FLR-SST developed the drip leak from the poor design of the return hose. Rather than follow the really well written instructions on this site to replace the internal return hose, I decided that since the unit was 9 years old I would just replace it with the new design. Like others have also commented, my above counter hot and cold dispenser had started to act up and stick in the open position which was annoying when it occurred so I ordered a new one of those as well. There is another good post on the site about how to clean the dispenser plungers from above the sink but I had no luck with that and again this was a 9 year old unit. The one issue that others have complained about on the installation was the fact the new filter system has a smaller hose (1/4) than the older filters (3/8) which meant some extra work to change out the water supply fitting at the shut off valve. I decided to just keep my old filter with the larger lines and got the hot water tank and dispenser installed in about an hour with no problems. One benefit of keeping the older filter system is that the replacement cartridges are a bit cheaper than the new design. If you decide to go this way as well you will keep everything on your current system up to where the outlet line from the filter connects to the two copper lines from the dispenser. You just need to pull down on the connecters that go over the two copper lines to release the two into one adaptor. Once you install the new dispenser you just slide the adaptor back onto the two copper lines and make sure you seat them securely.

Works great when it doesn't fail
July 6, 2016
This will be the third one of these I've had for 4 years. The only reason I don't go with a different brand is because these are still the highest rated instant hot water heaters unless you want to spend far more money. If you have hard water, these WILL fail unless you clean it out regularly because the minerals will destroy the heater element.
They work fine but BEWARE
March 16, 2016
My second one. First lasted 14 years. They work fine but BEWARE: the new model CANNOT heat water on "Maximum" heat. You'll need to turn it down. The plastic cover melted. The holding tank is okay and doesn't leak but unit appearance is not good. It functions, but melted away, it's ugly.
Works Pretty Good; but Expensive
January 4, 2016
I have had this installed a while and had time for the fun novelty of it to wear off a bit and can give you more of an honest take on it.It is great to have instant hot filtered water; or cold. I use it mostly for hot; as I have filtered water in the door of my fridge. It basically is a heater that "boils" the water for use. You can hear it boiling. If you use large coffee mugs. The second cup is not as hot as the the first. And the 3rd cup is just a bit warmer than out of the faucet. But, the filter replacement on these are very expensive (around $70) and last only about 6 months. And the gadget itself it a bit pricey and the faucets are expensive as well; for what this does. So, convenient; fun; somewhat functional; expensive.
InSinkErator Stinks
May 19, 2015
The original one failed prematurely. This one working OK so far. Supposedly the design has been improved. I gave it three stars because InSink Erator is a lousy company that put out a defective product and then skin their customers by selling such an expensive replacement. Never again.

August 24, 2014
Works great, a snap to install when replacing an earlier version of the product. Taking off two star because of two things:1) (Worth most of the two star reduction) Previous versions of this product (of which we've had 3 now) just don't last as long as they should for the price. Good luck getting more than 5 years of life. Appears to be always the same failure, leaks into the cabinet interior.2) There appears to be no option to delete the filter and get just the tank, which is all I needed
missing part
January 24, 2014
does not come with the unique fitting to connect the cold water, when I called the insinkerator 800 number they new exactly what the part was and directed me to a 3rd party for the purchase. The part was $9 the shipping was $10...Just doesn't seem right.

Missing Parts
April 26, 2017
This review is not for the product but for missing parts. I love the product but this time the filter did not come with the package. I do not want to send the whole thing back and get another again because I just install it. I just need to get the filler send to me but there is no that option for it.

still waiting on the fitting to connect it to my old faucet, insinkerator said they would send one but did not, they say again the will, three weeks later the jury is still out
We were so excited at first to have this cool appliance. Together with the filter
May 27, 2015
We have had our InSinkErator for about nine months so it is time to write an evaluation. We were so excited at first to have this cool appliance. Together with the filter, faucet and install we have about $1000 invested. However when we received our next electric bill we had a huge spike. After a couple months our bill had spiked over $100 per month and stayed there. The only change we had made in the house was this heater but we could not believe it would have this effect on our electric usage. I even had a time on the unit so that it did not heat all night and during the day when we were not home. So reluctantly we disconnected the heater. Sure enough in a couple months our bill was back down to pre-heater usage. So disappointed. Now all we have is a fancy appendage on our sink.
Leaky unit -twice
April 5, 2015
We had an insinkerator dispenser that lasted about four years before it started leaking and basically burned up. I ordered a replacement tank from a distributor (Insinkerator couldn't sell me one directly) and when my installer put it in, it also leaked immediately. Because I had to wait for the installer to fit me into his schedule, I missed the 30 day return window by one day. Now I have to see if Insinkerator will replace the faulty unit with another one. I had read others' reviews and it appears that leaky dispensers, even when new, are very common. I had a couple of problems with the original unit even before it leaked so I wasn't thrilled about getting the same type of dispenser, but figured I'd just replace the tank so that I wouldn't have replace the entire thing, including the faucet. I'm hoping that the manufacturer will "make good" and replace this unit. If not, I may look for another non-Insinkerator product. I just don't want to have to go through this every few years.
In combination with a spigot this unit is overpriced if you compare it with Home Depot's spigot and heater combination at $379
May 9, 2014
I found that my purchase of this unit and a spigot (each purchased separately from Amazon) cost over $500. At Home Depot the 2 pieces sold together in one box cost me $379+tax.
Disappointed with old models, hopefully new model will last longer
February 12, 2014
I have gone through 2 HC1100 in about 7 years. Same problem with each, leaking from the bottom where the screw is. They last about 3.5 years here on the West Coast. I am hoping that this new model will last longer as I have been disappointed with the length of time these have lasted. As well, when I replaced the tank, my hot water faucet started leaking from the hole on the side of the base. My plumber easily took it apart and told me I needed a new cartridge. Of course, Inksinkerator doesn't supply the parts to the public. So, I now need a new faucet as well.

Terrible smells and taste in the water.
June 9, 2017
There is a terrible taste and smell of metallic solvents coming out of my spout now with this installed. I am going to try to return it, we've delayed returning it trying to flush it out as was advised but no avail, I even had the water tested and it came back with high metals which my other spouts did not. HELP!
Useless without companion faucet.
May 9, 2016
Its useless unless you buy the water dispenser that it is designed to be used with. The water inlet and outlet has special fittings that you can not buy at a home improvement store for use without the sink mounted water faucet. It is a total waste of money for me.
Needs Proprietary Part
December 2, 2015
Product info does not mention the following:This product needs an InSinkErator proprietary part to hook up to a Hot Water Dispenser not made by InSinkErator. I called Carroll Parts & Services per the instructions from the InSinkErator customer service department and they were not certain if the part would be compatible. The part cost +$20 and will take about a week to deliver. Will update review after part is received and plumber determines if it will work.
Horrible customer service with part #s to buy adapter elsewhere...
July 15, 2015
I wanted to express my dissatisfaction with InSinkErators customer service and give people another option to avoid their games. I purchased the HWT-F1000S to replace an older failed unit of theirs. The new item arrived and was missing an adapter called the "snap-connect fitting" that you must have to install the new unit. The directions clearly stated the this fitting is not included. I called customer service to complain and was directed to buy the part at Carrolls Parts for $21! This did not sit well and I told the agent about my dissatisfaction. They responded by telling me they would ship the part out only if I supplied the serial # of the new unit. I was not at home at the moment and this made me even madder. This is what I have found out through some research how to get the part if you don't wish to be played. The part can be ordered through Fresh Water Systems online (www.freshwatersystems.com) using part # APC13004SH for $5.84 plus $4.95 shipping. I order three parts to see what would work and all three will work. The parts arrived in three days from Greenville, South Carolina shipped to Greenwood, Indiana. #APC13004SH is a non valved unit. It will drip a small amount when unhooked from the unit - for me this is desirable since I am using DI water and don't want the spring in the valve to come in contact with my filtered water). #APCD13004SH ($5.65) is the same except that it have the valve. #46000 ($7.16) is the same product I believe you can get from Carroll Parts - valved plus NSF tested (see pic far right).I hope people that share my frustration can use these part #s to get their heater up and working.
Not good for replacement instalation
November 18, 2014
I wanted to replace an existing water heater with an InSinkErator brand, I have a faucet already installed. The new unit arrived today and after spending 20 minutes on hold and speaking to someone who doesn't speak very good English I'm told I need to order a SST Service Kit from Parts Depot from Carroll Parts & Service at 800-651-3545. I don't think this will end well.
What they don't tell you
June 5, 2014
I ordered this to replace an older unit. The plumbing connection has changed to a quick clip type connection but you don't know that until you receive the unit and have to then go out and try to find the connector. (You can't) In the fine print of the instructions is a phone number where you need to call and order the connector and spend more money. The connector should be included in the box.By reading the amazon page to order this it gave me the impression that I also needed to order a power cord. I did, but did not need it and returned it. It comes wired.P.S. once you get it all together it works fine, as did the old model.
