Side by Side Comparison of: Ariat vs Guide Gear

This is my 3rd or 4th pair of these boots. I wear these to the office and for dress and they look great all the time. I can be rough on boots, usually scuffing the toes. I will continue to buy these as long as they are available. My only complaint is the heels are molded plastic so after you wear through the rubber heel cap you need to get them re-heeled before you wear them too far in to the plastic part of the heel. I would recommend these boots and will buy them again.

I am simply sold on Ariat boots. I wanted some black boots to wear when riding my Harley, so I ordered a bunch of boots from the genuine HD product family and was disappointed ever time I put them on. Sure the HD products look good and they have the HD branding, but I must say Wolverine Footwear, who makes HD's products, simply cannot touch the fit and comfort of an Ariat boot. Bam! I've got 3-pairs and this latest purchase won't be my last.

I was surprised by the truly great fit and comfort,. These boots are well made and very handsome, overall better fit and quality than some much more costly well known western boots that I own. I will buy again.

VERY comfortable boots first off. I can wear these for hours easy with no pain or fatigue at all. Leather is very nice and appears to be well constructed. I would think with normal care these boots will last a long time. I bought the distressed brown color and it looks great. Ariat did a heck of a job on these boots and I might purchase the black Heritage R toe boots very soon.

This is my second pair of these boots. My first pair lasted almost 10 years of nearly every day wear (and they still looked very good). One of the biggest reasons I wanted to update my boots was because my wife got a pair of Ariats a year or two ago and they had made significant improvements since I bought my boots. The biggest change from my last boots to these is the tread on the bottom. My first boots were very slick on snow and even worse on wet linoleum flooring. I almost fell several times after being out in the rain. The new boots are very, very grippy. They have also upgraded the arch support. Otherwise they seem to be the same great quality and fit as my old boots.If you're on the fence about upgrading to these, do not delay, do it now!

These boots are awesome. I wanted a cowboy style boot with a pointed Toe. Most Ariats don't have the traditional J-toe cowboys wore, but they have a decent R-toe. The R-toe still gives somewhat of a pointed look for your feet, but doesn't make the boot too bulky like some other Toe Styles. I was looking at these and a few other brands. What really separated these out were I was able to buy them for $144 with no tax at a local Saddle Shop in NJ because there is no tax on clothes and they had a 20% off sale. The other thing is the bottom soles are rubber and not leather. Rubber holds up better if it rains, where as leather typically does not. Thus in turn I didn't want to have to get my boots resoled all the time. That's an advantage to these. Something to keep in mind.Pros- Cushioning is comfortable. I danced for 6 hours the other night and no issues because my foot was at an incline all night. No knee pain with a good boot.- Rubber Bottoms- Leather Outs.The only other thing is sizing. I measured my foot at the saddle shop and most shoes I wear I am a size 11. I was a comfortable size 10.5 in these. Both fit well, but the 10.5 was a snug comfortable fit.

Absolutely wonderful quality for the price! My husband doesn’t typically wear cowboy boots but needed them for a wedding he is in. For the price they can’t be beat. He says they are very comfortable and he has even started wearing them around just because.

Son loved them. It has been over a year since I brought them. He is still wearing them. He brought another more expensive pair (popular name brand) in August 2016 and the heels started coming off and the nail in side the heel was hurting his heel that was in October 2016. After he got them repaired and wore them for one week the side split from the sole. So he went back to these and is going to buy another pair.My son is 17 so he wears these boots every day. These boot with stand a lot of abuse.

I had ordered these for my husbands birthday. I was a little bit worried about the fit. My husband has slim feet and long toes.LOL. But when these came and it was really fast, I gave them to my husband and he was very happy to say the least. When he put them on they fit like they had been made for him. I was skeptical of the quality since the price was very low for an all leather boot. I was pleasantly surprised! The quality and craftsmanship are without flaw. The boots are comfortable and I'm in Okinawa Japan where it is HOT. I wore them all weekend and they cleaned up nicely. Sportsmansguide has always provided outstanding gear at an economical price and they hit this one out of the park. I plan to buy a pair in black now. I highly recommend this product and the vendor.

I needed some boots that look good enough to wear in a work setting but that can also function outside and in dirty areas. These fit the bill perfectly. They have a nice classic look and fit great. After wearing them for a few hours the leather forms very nicely to your foot, and so far the soles and tops have stood up to the elements quite well.Note. I followed other folks advice and got a size smaller than my tennis shoes (13 instead of 14), and I am glad I did. Perfect fit!

Arrived quickly, packaged well.I was hesitant in buying these boots. Typically you get what you pay for, however, after a couple weeks with these on, I'm simply amazed!The fit is perfect (10.5 EE), dare I say better than my Justin Ropers.Comfortable beyond compare, no pinching of the toes (always a problem for me), just the right amount of support, and the heel is ideal (not too tall [my Texan saddle boots], not too short [Carmen suede's] ).I was a bit skeptical of the false upper, but you can't tell - feels like a soft(er), weathered leather that's held up well to gravel and work (no scuffs!)The rubber heels pad the walking well and seem to take abuse well.. No visible wear as of yet (worn daily, and I have bowed knees - no pain! ) , but when it's time to replace the sole I'll stick with wood (old preference).Nice leather inner pad, no feeling of nails or tacks and are comfortable when worn.Construction is top notch, heavy threading, proper sole stitching and quality mats' - they're built to last.I'll be ordering a pair for the father-in-law and another pair in black for myself.Worth every penny!

Nice, boots. They look good. Fitment was a challenge. But every shoe is for me. Had to order and return several pairs to get the best fit.

Nice boots for the money. Upper leather has gotten thinner over the years (last pair bought in 2014). Hard to fit and find my size, 13-B so I find a pair I like a get a spare and put away. Use them as motorcycle boots because of the rubber soles and did I mention they fit!

Left one was a little tight. Hoping it will stretch out. Really nice.

I love the look and feel of these boots. One thing I hate is that for dress boots, traction seems like an impossible option. I don't understand why I can have a professional boot with a sole that can handle every terrain. These boots are great, but the littlest mud or snow and you're an ice skating champion.Also the boots are really high as another reviewer mentioned. It's taken some time to adjust to them as they are about an inch higher than my work boots and hug my leg kind of tightly.

I think that these boots are very good for the price. However, upon arrival the boots did have some scrape marks on the heels and toes. This did not impact my rating as these are work boots. If you so want them to be completely scuff free you might have to go through several pairs.I did have to return the first pair of boots because they were too large. This first pair had very similar scuff marks on the toe/heel and a few marks on the side.

I am giving 4 stars because of great customer service. The boots were pretty much as described and the fit was about right; but they just did not fit my feet as I wanted and the style was not quite what I expected. That is all personal preference though, but what I found great was the no hassle return andrefund experience, which is a necessity if buying footwear on line. I would try this seller again.

I first ordered the black ones, they are quality constructed, and basically fit true to size. They seem to run just slightly on the large side but the toe area is just a little bit too narrow. I originally ordered an EE, but they were way to wide and had to send them back for an M. My feet are semi wide but the EE was way too much. Great looking black boot and for the money a very good deal.Now for the Con, I liked the Black boot so much that I then ordered the Brown (tan) but here is the problem with them------The uppers are not all leather like the black ones and the lower boot is a suede material and come already marred up a little. Also In the photo they look mostly brown so I ordered them, but it turned out they are definitely a greyish tan. There have been others that complain about the brown ones not being all leather. Especially the shaft is not leather for sure, it is all vinyl. I giving a 4 star because the quality of the black one are good. Im not recommending the brown ones.

We had to send them back for a size adjustment they were smaller by 1/2 a size. Once we had the size right my 12 year old really likes them. At first they were for a halloween party and a western themed dance however I am happy to say he wears them at least once a week. I would buy from there again. Return was pretty quick also ands it was during the holiday season.

I got these for a farm themed wedding. I took a chance with shipping beause the wedding was on the evening of the 8th, and these were set to arrive between the 8th and the 15th. Well guess what I found on my doorstep at noon on the 8th? Couldn't be more pleased with that. As for feel, they kind of poked my feet a little, but as the night went on they turned into a different set of boots - they became soft, flexible, and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised it being my first experience with cowboy boots. Also the cheapest price I could find for new, quality boots.

I bought these for a quick slip on/off boot for motorcycle riding, so that my socks don't show as easily haha! The sizing is right, I have wide feet and ordered the EE and they're perfect. I wish the uppers were leather but for the price and the intended use it's fine that the leather uppers are not genuine. The foot itself is leather and should last me quite awhile. If I'm still keen on western boots when these wear out, I'll probably spend a bit more for a name brand all leather boot. But for now, these are great. There was some thread on the interior upper that was melted (probably how they finish the stitching) and scratching my shin but i picked the burned ends of thread out and there is no more annoyance. Fair price for the boots.

Arian quality as expected (my go-to boot company) but run a little small.

Good fit nice feel. External stitching is not the best starting to unravel in places where the design is. Stitching on the sole is starting to fray and come up a little, I have about about 40 miles on the boots. Sole is holding up well, leather is okay not as thick as I would have liked but should hold up for a while.

I own several Ariat pairs of boots and this is the first time I have every had a pair this stiff. Seem to be made a little tight at the ankles. I am slowly breaking them in. I am sure in time they will be as good as my other Ariats.

The boots fit fine once I get my foot all the way in. It's just getting it in there kinda like the shaft is too narrow to get my heel and top of my foot through.

The boots leave black marks on my wood floor.

Shoe looks/wears nice and great quality for what you pay but an awful pain to take off.

The boots are a little narrow for my feet, but they look nice and I am hoping that they will stretch out a little.

I really do love the way this boot looks like. I've never ordered a pair of boots b4. I ordered an 11 EE, I normally wear a 10 EE. Way to narrow can't slip foot in. I'm gonna exchange for a 13EE hopefully that works. Went to boot store and figured I do wear either a 12Ee or 13EE in boots. Order big if you have a wide foot.

They look nice for the price, however I order 8.5 W, but they still were too narrow, right size fit but even that they were marked "W" they were too narrow for all day comfort

The heels are too small and the western cut is too severe making walking in them like walking in high heels, and it changes my gate to the point that it hurts my back. Wider heel base would be much better.

One boot is definitely a different size than the other. One boot fits like a glove and the other I can hardly get my foot into. I will be sending them back

plan to return first pair 12EE was too small , replaced with 13EE and still too narrow, I wear 11 EE so even the !#EE does not work for me

They are probably good boots. They will not last very long, i have owned a couple paris before; they lasted about 4 months of hard work. they will probably last a year if they are not worked in, if worn everyday. For the inexpensive boot they are as expected, just run small.

Ordered 13EE and was not able to get the boots on - original box label stated 13EE but a smaller sticker states 11M. Could not get the boots on - must have been the smaller size.

I am giving this item a poor review due to the boots arriving with a scuff on the top of the right boot. For the price, I expect the boots to be in decent shape and no scuffs.

I purchased this same size boot in 2005 but in a distressed leather color and it fit like a glove. This boot was too narrow. Moving on to Lucchese.

Size is so small. Couldn't get my foot even in the boot and they are men's.

Had to order 3 times and still went to boot barn and spent the money on Justin's. The last pair will go back on Mon. Thought I could get away cheap with these but just couldn't get a good fit.
