I tried this food because my dog has itching problems and it has limited ingredients in it and it was recommended by the manager at Pet Supplies Plus, who also has animals with food allergies. I buy it here only because there is a discount and its delivered.I think it is a great food because It says on the front it is limited ingredients and the label lists the ingredients as well and there is a whole line of dry, wet and cookies all with limited ingredients so its easy to tell if this will work with your dog and you can tell more easily what is causing the allergy to weed out the culprit.My dog loves this food. It costs more but it maintains her weight and still keeps her full and it keeps her from being itchy. I tried other foods she itched real bad and gained weight and got "love handles" and I was hardly feeding her anything and she was exercising in agility classes.Her stool is firm and formed but dark from the sweet potatoes. Don't be alarmed by the dark color. A similar food Wellness has (white potato I think) potato and fish (salmon) It did the same for her and I was equally happy with it but her stool wasn't as dark.Wellness was sent to me by accident so I tried it just to see. When I checked the price of Wellness it was the same as this foodI like that Natural Balance has can food to give as a treat and cookies or biscuits and use this Limited Ingredient line for my dog and she maintains weight and less itching.She has also eaten Backcountry Salmon Jerkey and loves it with no issues. Its at Petco and Pet Supplies Plus. It has limited ingredients as well.

Hands down best choice I ever made was switching to this food. I used to feed my german shepherd publix premium food. For 2-3 years she always had issues, im about 6k in medical bills, vet visits, meds and endless hours of cleaning diarrhea, bloody poop and other issues my dog had. I decided to switch her to this food, immediately her poop changed form and started being solid and healthy, her fur is now silky and nice, and the only issue Ive had with her since we switched her on this food 2 years ago was a skin tag that just came up and we're removing it, i don't think the food has anything to do with that though, but 2 years of no more diarrhea, bloody poop, skin rashes, bad fur, dandruff etc... its all gone! Food affects our dogs so much its crazy.

This food is not only gentle on my Yorkie Mix's stomach (he has a very sensitive stomach and gets digestive issues easily), but it has made the fur on my Manchester Terrier feel like velvet. My Yorkie Mix is almost 3 and my Manchester is almost 8 - both of their energy levels picked up after switching to this, especially my older dog. And there was absolutely no issues when we switched. Usually there are a few weeks where you have to mix the new food and the old food and the dogs still have digestive complications That didn't happen with this food. I highly recommend!

Allow me to preface with, my dog is pickier than a five-year-old at a salad bar. Getting him to eat on a schedule has always been a chore. Since switching to Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Fish Formula about 6 months ago, he has been much more enthusiastic about meal time, immediately dropping down in front of his bowl to chow down.The importanat stuff: My dog is 80lbs and I feed him 2 cups, twice a day. The 26lb bag lasts about 4 weeks. His stomach is more sensitive than a ginger's skin in the sun... so it's reassuring that his stool finally comes out rock solid, and is much easier to pick up compared to the previous piles of dark mashed potatoes he used to leave behind in the neighbor's yard. Even though this dog food does not have a 5* rating on The Dog Food Advisor, it has done wonders for our 3, non-shedding dogs. Our poodle mix from Mexico, has always had very bad eye staining. When regular Angel Eyes was available, it took care of the problem. Then it was taken off the market and replaced with a natural version that does not work. I got this brand of dog food because it has low fat, which is what my 9 year old dog needs. However, after feeding it to all three dogs, the eye staining on the poodle mix went away within 2 to 3 weeks. They are all very energetic and healthy on this food.

My boxer has severe food allergies was balding and had open sores from scratching had tried multiple no grain combinations including prescription. Nothing was working for this 2 year old boxer. Vet suggested I try fish again but get Natural Balance. Hiccup has been on for about 6 weeks and there has been remarkable improvement. hair growing back and no open sores. scratching and chewing is down 90%. im so optimistic this is all i feed even use small handful for a cookie treat. He is still on 10 mg of pred once a day and hydroxine 3 times a day. will be starting every other day on pred soon. Best he has been since 6 months old!!!!

Can't really say I like it, but my dogs do. What I like is that the ingredients are limited so it makes me good feeding my dogs a food that is not full or crap ingredients. However.. the price is a bit high so not sure I can stick with this product. Might have to look for something close to this in ingredients with a lower price tag.

I am not 100% sure if my Malti-poo loves this food but he eats it and since he started on it about 2 months ago he has had no painful anal gland issues. That is the main reason I bought this food for him, I read in the reviews that it is very good for doggies with anal gland pain and build up.

Definitely recommend this if you have a small dog and are looking for a food with quality limited ingredients. My little guy has small teeth and can chew this with no problem. He's also very picky and I don't have any problem getting him to eat this. Additionally, I like that there are different flavor options so we can change up the menu from time to time.My only complaint is that there aren't smaller bags given that it is produced specifically for Small Breeds. It takes a longtime to finish one bag and I would like to change the flavor more often.Enjoy!

So our dog has a gluten allergy and we love Natural Balance for this. We've been really happy with all the other flavors and we really liked what the sweet potato and fish did for his skin and fur (and he loves the taste). HOWEVER! The food smells! When we open the bin for meals it smells like those little fish flakes you throw in a fish tank. And it gave poor Titus the odor de aquarium all the time! He even had more gas (which ALSO smelled like fish!)! So if smells bother you I'd steer clear, but otherwise we were happy with this food.

My dog likes this food and has been using it for a few years, after having switched from the nutro lamb and turkey. It is very rich and contains about 390 calories per cup. I mix something like chicken slices, cheese, or sausage logs to make it more appetizing since my dog is older and we give her table scraps, It gives her fishy breath, but the salmon and fish mixture is good for her coat and she barely scratches at all. There have been recalls on this brand, but there have been recalls on all the brands. The thing that disturbs me about this brand is that they sell kangeroo meat and other types of meats from weird animals. It is odd that we kill some animals for food for other animals that we treat like humans. Where do we draw the line?However, I'm not gonna stop feeding my dog this food now, since she likes it and it's also available at a good price here on amazon. And is always fresh here too

Have used this good for years but since I started buying through Amazon the bags are not as full. I pour it into the same canister and it fills completely. It used to have extra that would not fit in the canister. So this might be the Natural Balance, not Amazon.

My dogs have gone through about half of this bag. They aren't crazy about it, but eat it since I mix a bit of canned in with it. One thing I noticed right off..sweet potato and fish formula smells horrible. I mean really, really bad. Anyway this bag does.

My dog was eating his poop prior to buying this food; he stopped eating it, probably because it smells terrible. His coat smells a little funky too but he has skin problems and this food seems to have quelled the irritations he was getting. Only downside, his stool is softer than I'd like, he farts so much more and it smells terrible. The plus, he stopped eating his stool.

Love this dog food company for its dedication to "keeping it simple". My dog has allergies to several things (chicken being one). Tried this fish composition . No Go. He hated the taste; and I hated the smell ( both before & after). Venison much better*

I was recommended this to my vet for some skin allergies for my Chocolate Lab. I am undecided on whether or not it has helped his rash. It has a pretty terrible smell, but he seems to enjoy it. I will update this review if his condition worsens or becomes better.

I've only had my french bulldog on this food for one month but I can't really rave about it yet. Mainly because this food is SMELLY and I really think it makes his poop and coat smelly. I think I might switch to the potato and duck formula to compare. The fishiness of this formula just really smells bad and I have to try something else. I was also really disappointed that these weren't the "small bites" because the kibble is almost too large for my puppy. Wish I had known to get the small bites before ordering this bag.

This is not a food for dogs with allergies like I was told. My Chow mix broke out with sores that looked like he had been burned and the blisters popped and bleeding too from the sores and hair falling out. Back to wholesome fish meal food for him made in the USA Indiana. No limited ingredient foods work and tired of him looking like a cancer patient loosing his fur and open bloody sores he deserves to not suffer goodbye to this food

It's really, really rich. My dog has an iron stomach. Seriously- my grandma is almost 100 and she drops half of all of her meals on the floor. My dog cleans that up and she's always fine. I tried this food with her, did the slow transition, and she had the s***s for 2 weeks. It just didn't work for her I guess.

Good food for dogs with allergies, but you can get the same quality for a lot less money if you read the labels.

I don't know about any of your dogs but I cannot get him to go near his bowl when this food is placed in it. He refuses to eat it. I've heard wonderful things about this food, thats why I purchased it. I'm sure it is just doggy preference.

i usually give my dog Orijen but decided to switch to a more limited ingredient brand due to a sensitive stomach. she would not eat it. when i mixed it together with Orijen, she would pick out the Natural Balance pebbles from her bowl and place it on the floor so she didnt have to eat it. Ended up having to throw out the bag.

I bought this because my dog has skin allergies. A friend said to get grain free food. This one had really good reviews. My dog started throwing up after I started giving her this food. Mixed it with her previous food to slowly transition. She has been throwing up for a week. I have her back on her previous food and called the vet for an appointment. I wish I could get a refund. This was pretty expensive. Plus the pending vet bill.

I purchased this food after my veterinarian recommended it since she suspected my dog has a food allergy. He would not eat it no matter how bad I tried to get him to eat it. It got to a point that he began wimpering when he was given this food because he detests it so much. I am so disappointed that I lost so much money on this food. Please save your money and refrain from purchasing this food.

the dog food was old and stale, like the pieces were literally hard as a rock. I've been feeding the Natural Balance sweet potato and fish formula to my dog for 3 years and he LOVES this dog food and eats it immediately... until this bag of food. Not only was it so hard that it seemed painful for him to eat it, he also had an upset stomach afterwards. And then when I tried to return the bad food, I was told it was non-returnable/refundable. So it was a total waste of $30-something dollars and I still had to go buy another bag at PetSmart (which my dog enjoyed with no problems).

We have a Chihuahua mix, a Shih Tzu, and a large domestic cat who raids the dog food. I mixed this in with Iams chicken for small dogs and all the animals systematically eat around it. Seriously, they pick up one of these pieces and spit them out next to the bowl. It would be funny if it wasn't so consistent. They like the lamb and rice version, but the sweet potato and fish... NO. If they were human children, this would be made of spinach with the consistency of boiled okra. I've left it out and refused to top the bowl up for a day... and they still won't eat it. The Chihuahua X is a rescue with a scarcity complex. It must taste terrible if she won't eat it.

My dog would not eat her food once I started feeding this to her and I couldn't figure out why; so I added fish oil to it to persuade her to eat it. I found out 2 weeks later that this product had been recalled due to mold being found in the batch! No wonder anymore why she didn't want it.

Probably the worst response I've seen to new dog food. Picky eater won't touch it. Dog that eats everything, including cardboard, won't touch it. Friend's dog won't touch it. Tried to be sneaky and mix it in a bowl with other food. The dogs ate the other food and left these bits of kibble in the bowl.
