It has been my go-to cycle computer for years and has never let me down
September 21, 2017
This is a fantastic product. It's simple, straightforward, easy to install and use, and has been, in my many years of experience, tremendously reliable. I've got one installed on all of my bicycles, and have been used one every day for at least the last seven years. None of these units have ever wronged me in the slightest. The only thing I've ever had to do is replace the batteries intermittently as per heavier/lighter use of certain bicycles, and reset each one once it hits 10,000 miles on the odometre. They perform as expected: consistently and adequately. In short, they are my go-to cycle computers and they perform as expected.
easy to use
June 6, 2017
Simple, easy to use, and a good price. I had to use the out-front bracket mount to resolve a connectivity issue I was having, but would be using the out-front bracket either way. About the only thing I can think of that would improve this product is a backlight since I often ride at night, but that option is available on another model which I knew about.

Setup can be a little confusing at first, but just take your time to figure out what each part is for and you'll figure it out. I wouldn't recommend cutting the remaining fastening strip so you can remove the wireless speedo in the future if needed, but most importantly; retighten if necessaryThe wireless tracker has to be VERY close to the magnet on the wheel. I was skeptical it would rattle out of place after a couple of rides but it hasn't Experience will probably vary depending on how challenging the terrain is.Mine is on a mountain bike I mostly use for commuting and going on leisure rides in neighborhoods
I used youtube to set it up and it was really easy to set up
June 12, 2016
This product I was very skeptical about it at first because of all the reviews about the connection. But for me I took it on a 20 mile ride and I had no problem. I used youtube to set it up and it was really easy to set up. The readings are very accurate and very easy to use as well. It is also very stylish and if you want to take ur bike riding to the next level, this the key to be able to motivate you and push you to the next level because it will tell you the distance, how fast, and the time as well.
Just what I needed!
January 21, 2014
Bike came with wireless a.n.t. system, got the high end rechargeable computer, end up selling it. To complicated. This wireless system is the bomb if all you need is ride time, miles, average. It's all I needed and I love it.Sometimes enjoying the ride instead of documenting the ride is more enjoyable. I just want to hop on my bike and go, without starting an app, or fiddling with a complicated computer system. Thanks cat eye !
Works well but has problems
August 2, 2013
This is a very nice cyclometer. CatEye is a good brand, but this particular model has a problem. My unit will spontaneously change its mode and when I am in the distance mode, it has spontaneously zeroed itself without my touching it. Other than these unfortunate characteristics, I like the unit. After realizing that I put the display too close to my hand and it would brush against the display without my knowing it. I moved the display closer to the middle of the handle bars and I have not had any problem since then. Now the operation has been flawless.

I really like mine.
February 4, 2017
I have used this for several months. I like the size of the screen, as it is easy to read while I am riding. Just a little push and the screen toggles to the different readings. This has really helped to keep me on goal of riding so many miles per day because we take different routes in our rides. It has been a handy tool. I check it with my workout map to see if they are similar. The readings are a little off, but I would think the map would be a little less accurate than this as this is tracking with tire rotations. Now my husband wants one.

July 27, 2016
Works great, this was my first computer I've ever used and of course i have already went OTB and damaged the screen but it survived! My only complaint was the instructions said it had to be within 5mm of the sensor when in reality it was more like .5mm at best. It literally almost has to be touching for it to register. other than that, it comes with a good mount and is pretty accurate.
Added a NEODYMIUM magnet as suggested on YouTube.
May 28, 2016
Replaced 16 year old nonfunctional Sigma BC 800 as plastic unit mounted on fork had cracked. This is my first wireless bicycle computer and after reading reviews purchased this unit for my RANS rocket. Instructions were good until I got to the section about mounting the fork mounted sender unit. VERY sensitive to 5 mm distance between magnet and sending unit. Initially would NOT work... After adding a small round flat neodymium magnet to the Cateye magnet my problem was solved. I feel instructions about mounting the sending unit could definitely be improved upon and perhaps a stranger magnet could be included in the package.
Good product. Pass on Warehouse deals
September 2, 2014
The product works advertised. Gave it a run against my smartphone and it's pretty much spot on. At first I didn't see the need but when you out riding you need the computer rather that a phone because it gives you information at a glance. I use my smartphone to collect more granular ride data.My only disappointment was getting this through Amazon Warehouse deals. While I saved money initially, I in reality didn't save a dime. The product came without the nylon tie straps and the English instructions. Even though it was advertised as complete and just repackaged it was obviously a used return which is deceptive. I decided to not return the item because it would have cost me even more in time, travel and waiting. I picked up the straps from the store and got the instructions online. I broke even at best. Beware.
Great quality product. Really easy to use. A few gotchas
May 6, 2014
A sturdy, very good quality product. Enjoyed using it.Wanted to share some gotchas though1) When I started using this product with Garmin heart-rate monitor to transmit data to my smartphone, it appeared to me that they have some interference with each other. It was not consistent. Heart rate monitor sometimes reported much higher value than should be. Also, Cateye a few times wasn't showing up speed measurements (was reported as zero). I also was using Wahoo strade sensor at the same time. Both strade sensor and heart rate monitor are using ANT+ wireless protocol. Not sure what protocol and frequency Eyecat product is using... but it appeared to me that this Cateye Wireless Bike Computer doesn't operate nice with ANT+ products. This wasn't a scientific research probably, ymmv - after a couple of times I put it into my wife's bike.2) A very minor - clock drift is around 15 minutes / 6 months.Other than that, again, it is a great quality product.
Great Product
September 9, 2013
This was exactly what I wanted. It was easy to install with the hardest part being trying to figure out how to get into the menu and set the proper options. It was also a little difficult to calibrate the distance according to your tire size. Not hard on the computer, but hard because I did not have a metric measuring tape. I finally used my wife's sewing tape which was metric. You can use the default tire sizes that it offers in the instructions, but I wanted to be accurate, and my measurement came out slightly more than what the instruction sheet said for my tire size.I mounted it right in the middle of the handle bar stem. I have a gray Trek and it disappeared and seemed to become part of the bike which I really liked. The numbers are large enough to read when riding and it is easy to move from one function reading to the other by just pushing on the bottom of the unit.I thought that setting the sensor onto the front wheel fork and lining up the magnet would be difficult, but it was not. Unlike the instructions though, I mounted it on the front part of the front fork instead of the rear part thinking that if it came loose it would fly off and away from the wheel as opposed into the wheel if it was mounted on the back.Overall very good. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because there is no GPS function, but I guess for the money I should not really expect one.

Doesn't work with lamp. Doesn't mount well to blade fork. Not the current model of Wireless Strada
September 16, 2017
When my headlamp is on, this does not function. NiteRider 550 is my lamp.It was a pain to setup - miss one digit and you have to cycle through the entire menu. Ugh.It's smaller than they make it sound. Hard to read on my eyes. No backlight (not a listed feature though)Sensor mount on a blade fork was a bit fugly. I just mounted it on the edge of the blade. But not working when my lamp is on is the reason it went back.

my first time to use a wireless bicycle computer, I had high hope. The first unit is DOA, the sensor doesn't work properly. it pick up the magnet randomly, Amazon is awesome, shipped a replacement upon request. The second unit works fine so far. time will tell
Good job... but,
January 18, 2014
I use this on the rear wheel of my bike since I have my bike on a trainer in my house due to the freezing cold winter. I can keep track of how far I have went on each ride and the total distance I have went since using this device on my bike. It is easy to setup and use, but the biggest problem that I have for this device is how easy it is for the display unit to fall out of the cradle. I am sure that if I was riding on the road that I would have lost it as soon as I hit a bump or was riding downhill. Riding on the trainer in my house it has slowly worked its way loose out of the cradle. If this problem didn't exist, I would easily give it five stars. If you can velcro or glue the display unit to the cradle so you don't have to worry about losing it on the open road, I would highly suggest that you do it.
Not as good as reviewed.
April 5, 2012
I have had three of these computers with close to 7,000 miles logged so I know this computer. The ClickTec interface is awesome. With it you can easily switch between modes even with gloves on. The problem with part of this design is in the way the clearing of data is engineered. It takes barely 2 seconds of holding the unit down to clear the ride data. Other reviewers have complained about this. It takes such a short hold on the unit that often ride data get inadvertently cleared when just briefly resting an arm or hand on the unit. To prevent this I leave the unit in trip 2 distance mode. One of my computers crapped out by unknown causes after 3,000 miles. The small button on the mounting base that locks the unit of another also broke. On the plus side, small parts are easily obtained from the company for a pittance.
WORKS WELL - HAS SOME DESIGN FLAWS
March 18, 2011
Overall, this is a pretty decent computer, but the display is very small. The display area is only the size of a postage stamp, and the data on the lower display line is very hard to see. The unit is also very hard to snap out of the bracket, and you need to do that just to update the clock. Cateye also only includes two zip ties for the remote sensor, and they're a hard to find size, so if you need to reposition the sensor you'll need to order new zip ties from Cateye ($4 for 10 ties). I'm sure these cost Cateye a couple of cents a piece, so I don't know why they don't include an extra set with the unit. Position the remote sensor unit carefully before tightening those ties! Those negatives aside, the unit was fairly easy to install, and it's very easy to use. It also looks very sleek mounted on a road bike stem, and the mounting bracket design is flexible enough for mounting on almost any bar or stem. I also found it to be very accurate, and it's nice it comes already set up with the default tire size circumference setting at 700x23, which is the most common road bike tire size.Overall, a decent cycling computer. If it had a larger display and was easier to remove from the bracket, I'd add a star.
Nice computer, mounting hardware needs improvement.
November 15, 2010
I am very happy with this computer. It does the job and nothing more. Easy interface--the whole front is basically a giant button that procedurally cycles thru the modes (no pun intended.). All the basic necessities for a cycle computer are present. The mounting hardware for the sensor needs some improvement, however. I found the sensor's cheap cable-tie mounts to loosen over time, but since part of the installation instructions are to cut off the excess part of the ties, there's not really much way to adjust unless I purchased new ties.

Buyer beware! Works great until it resets by itself and you lose all of your data.
September 16, 2017
I'll Start by saying I don't usually write reviews. The exception is when I think the feedback is more valuable than to just say its great or it stinks. I read dozens of reviews on this computer before buying and overall it got good reviews, but there were some complaints about it resetting on its own. I disregarded the complaints as flukes, but should not have. I ordered one of these for myself and one for my daughter for a week long bike ride we were taking covering 400 plus miles over 7 days. The unit my daughter had reset itself almost everyday and sometimes more than once during the day. The one on my bike reset itself once during the entire week. These resets occurred while riding and while the bikes were parked with nobody to touch them so I know that it was not user error. All of the daily stats are what resets. The only stat unaffected was the total mileage on the unit which measures all your miles from the time that you strap it on your bike. I think the only time this resets is when you change the batteries, it can't be manually reset. Anyway beware, chances are you are going to lose data using this computer. It was disappointing especially on my daughters bike as we were trying to keep track of the miles she rode daily and over the week since she did not ride the entire route because of her age. Each reset wiped out any hope of keeping track of that. Once the mileage resets you also lose all of your average speed data. Time riding resets and so does max speed. You lose it all. If this kind of thing is valuable to you don't buy this computer. On the positive side it was easy to install, seemed accurate based on comparisons to other bike computers in our group for distance and speed, it was easy to use while riding, and easy to understand its functions, it looked nice, and was easy to read while riding, and the wireless function worked well. All in all a nice unit, but one I would not recommend or buy again because of its main flaw, the resetting problem and loss of data. I think CatEye has a problem it needs to address. Hope this helps you make an informed decision.
Cateye CC-RD300W - First 30 days
November 17, 2014
I purchased this Cateye CC-RD300W Strada Wireless computer 30 days ago, and installation and set-up was very simple. The unit works great during my daytime rides, but unfortunately, I was surprised to discover that it does not work when my bike light is turned on (also mounted on my handlebars). I spoke to a customer service rep at Cateye, and she confirmed that most wireless bike computers will "shut down" when in close proximity to a bike light, due to "interference". This would have been nice to know prior to purchasing this computer, as many of my rides are during times when I need my light. Of course, it's not critical to see my "mph" during night rides, but when the computer shuts down, it also disables the ability to track my distance traveled and average speed. The only feature that works when my light is on is the clock.
Great for the 3 months it worked
November 14, 2014
Installed this on my road bike, and it stopped working after 3 months or so. Tried replacing both batteries, the wheel magnet, and readjusting alignment every which way and still nothing worked. Could have gotten wet inside one of the sensors maybe? Display would come on, but wouldn't sense any wheel spin. Really enjoyed the computer while it was working. I truly get motivated tracking things like total miles, time, average speed, current speed, etc. Hopefully mine was just a fluke, but I'll be trying a different model next time.
Ok if yours works correctly
August 1, 2014
Initially I did not want to use a GPS device for tracking my riding, I wanted something simple and low maintenance. At first I thought this thing was great on my first two rides or so out and then I noticed it was dropping huge portions of my rides. It would just freeze and stop tracking my distance and start up again on its own.I was using this on a 26" wheel tried different batteries, multiple locations and angles and every time it would initially seem ok and once I would get on the trail it would start failing on meI now just use a cellphone in a tube bag with Runtastic's bike app and actually enjoy it much more since it automatically uploads so much more data for me to see and share if I like
Probably very accurate on trails
March 29, 2013
Pros: It's easy to set up and accurate - most of the time.Cons: Data is often corrupted by interference from sensors at traffic signals. A few other reviewers have mentioned this - I'm surprised not more. Maybe these sensors differ by locality, and I'm just unlucky enough to be in Seattle. I have to be very careful at stoplights not to stop over the sensor area used by the signal to detect whether there is a car waiting so that the light will turn green. Of course it doesn't detect me on my bike, and the light stays red forever, but what it does do is provide some sort of RF pulsation that makes my CatEye computer think I'm riding at freeway speeds. It registers 65.9 mph (the maximum for the computer) and adds distance accordingly, as if I were riding that fast for however long I'm sitting there. That means my max speed is wrong, my trip distance is wrong, my average speed is wrong, my riding time is wrong and my odometer is wrong as a result. This is an obvious source of interference encountered regularly by cyclists, and there should have been an effort to engineer a solution.
Recieves Interference
January 28, 2012
This cyclocomputer looses connection with the speed sensor when I had a NiteRider MiNewt 600 turned on to medium and low brightness. In the brightest mode it does not cause interference.I also noticed that at some traffic lights the speedometer registers 65 mph, which basically means that the speed goes off the scale due to interference. Also I had a problem getting the cyclocomputer out of its bracket. The main button would be pressed, and the trip data would be reset.Overall because of the poor reliability of the reading this product is not worth the price or the hassle.

June 7, 2016
I tried over and over and over again to get this thing to work and it just wouldn't. I made sure I calibrated it properly and it just would NOT work. I tried to get the magnet sensor as close as possible to the speed sensor and it still would not register any data. I made sure I did everything correctly and took it off and put it back on about 3 times with no luck. I spent almost 2 hours attempting to figure this out and finally just gave up. This has been extremely frustrating. I ordered this about a month ago and just now tried to put it on because the weather is just now getting nice and now I have missed the return window by one day and am stuck having spent money on an item that does not work. If anyone has a way of getting it to work let me know. Otherwise this product is going into the trash can.
Most terrible bike computer!!!
November 2, 2015
The most terrible bike computer I have ever owned. The instructions are mostly pictorially and the illustrations are vague and confusing. But the biggest disappointment is the range within which each part has to operate or it simply does not work. I have a city cruiser bike and the handle bar sits high and the distance required for each component to communicate was greater, even though on the product description it says this product works with all types of bikes. The yet more disappointing feature is the max 5mm range required between the magnet on wheel spokes and the speed sensing unit installed on the fork. This 5mm range is super limited and it did not work with my bike. I bought one from Bontrager and it works sooooo well. No headaches, no hard instructions, and no guess work with 5mm or 70 cm ranges. Save yourself from this terrible product.
Hard to get aligned properly and harder to get it to stay aligned
November 4, 2014
I couldn't get it to read consistently, it would line up for awhile but then it'd get slightly moved and would stop reading properly.
Is not reliable.
January 30, 2014
Because of a bike tour I wanted to record mileage on, I decided to forgo the return and see if the problem I had was just a fluke. nope. The radio signal from the wheel to the console goes in and out and this thing is completely unreliable. Since I waited past the date for returns, I am stuck with it. I curse this thing. Will never do Cateye again.
Never Worked
March 7, 2013
This thing has been frustrating from day one. Honestly, I read negative reviews and I think some people are just experiencing user errors. I am pretty confident I am capable of "installing" this. It has not worked at all and it is too late to send it back. I am very dissatisfied with my purchase.
Did not work
November 5, 2012
After I installed it it did not work, I installed it correctly and spun the tire but the computer just would not read. I bought this wireless computer because the wired computer that I had, which worked great, its wire would always break no matter what, no matter how many ties I used to secure it, it would always get caught and break. But I do not recommend a wireless computer. On top of it all this computer doesn't even tell you how many calories you burned.
