| Stole & robe really easy to put on, hat a little harder.October 13, 2016 This costume is so adorable! The hat is a little difficult to make stay on his head and there are no instructions included to help. The elastic looks like it's actually supposed to go under his chin and around his ears, but without directions, I'm not entirely sure that's true. That, and his head is almost too "short" to really make the hat puff out enough. If I pull it down enough to make it stay on his head, it covers his eyes.I will say the stole and the robe were really easy to put on and actually didn't seem to bother him much. The robe opens up entirely, slips on over his paws and Velcros in the back. The stole Velcros on top, which made it really easy. While this is a fantastic costume and everyone loves the picture of my dog wearing it, it's mainly good for just that - pictures. The stole attaches only at the neck, and since dogs don't have shoulders, you can get it to stay in place for a photo, but if you want your dog to move around in it, that piece falls off. She doesn't love wearing it. This isn't high quality material, and I had to air it out before putting it on her, as it had a funky warehouse smell. It comes with a tail that looks like something the cat dragged in and gnawed on. I threw that out right away.There's no diagram or instruction sheet showing the best way to put it on your dog, so I'll provide that for those who, like me, don't use dog costumes often. Inside the mane there's an elastic strap. Put the tube over your dog's head with that strap up then secure it under your dog's chin. Fluff the mane to make it look right. I have a very large dog (115lbs) and this fit him well. This item is really just a large sleeve of this furry fabric. You split it over the dog's head so it's around his neck, then you tighten an elastic cord that is threaded through one end of it so it's snug around his head (the side with the cord is the one you want to be closer to his face, not his body). My dog doesn't love it, as I suspect is the consensus for most costume-wearing dogs. He can get it off in about 30 seconds. The trick is to distract him when he's wearing it so you can take a couple of photos or have him make an appearance! There are no holes for the ears, and it looks more realistic when the dogs ears are covered, otherwise the mane sits too far back, so that may be irritating for the dog. Otherwise, it looks great. Well, it squishes down the ears, so you might want to cut holes for the ears to come out. On top of that, if the dog puts his paw on the fabric and pushes it forward onto his face (as mine did), it is off in about two seconds. Oops. No more lion. Lion quickly converts back into lamb. Unfortunately my almost 1 year-old golden retriever puppy was more interested in pouncing and killing it than wearing it. Because of that, he bit the plastic closure off pretty quickly, and there was no longer a way to keep the elastic tightened around his face during the fleeting moments when we were able to get him to wear it on Halloween, so it kept falling off when he shook his head. We used a binder clip in a pinch ...
